I liked how the first cour ended after the rough start, looks like this one is continuing that trend with a solid first episode setting up the workshop battle. But damn before they even get to the workshop there’s challenges? I like it. Give me nonstop action this cour lol. They cooked with the one shot one opportunity game idea, I actually got scared for Wangnan there cause I thought Khun was gonna betray him. Brilliant idea to finesse the guns from other competitors.

Endorsi, my beloved. So good to see her back in the anime. The fact she got a fan club was killing me 😂 her entrance at the end of the episode like an angel descending was so badass I can’t wait to see she and Bam reunion next week.

Speaking of which, when Bam identifies himself to the dude he’s trying to save I think that’s the first time he’s called himself Bam this season. Too bad he STILL have flashbacks and simping for Rachel 🤦🏽‍♂️

I love the original Predator as unintentional camp. The homoeroticism of them firing machine guns into an empty forest like it’s a circle jerk makes me scream laughing. The cigars, the near naked Dutch covered in mud, the popping muscles, it’s like men in drag as an idea of manliness.

Have you ever seen a peacock try to fly? That’s Predator, my comfort movie about the fantasy of the CIA sending ‘roided up dudes to do something nasty in the jungle and it backfiring on them because the bloodlust summoned the predator (instead of half of them being too coked up and easily bribed then the CIA sending in more dudes to finish up - If you know you know it’s a very deep, very ugly rabbit hole of history).

I've watched 5 out of 7 of the Predator franchise and most of the Aliens, Alien vs Predator wasn’t that bad compared to the rest, but Predators (2010) and Prometheus (2012) were my last straws: you could NOT get me to watch another Predator or Alien-universe movie. Those horses have been so beaten to death, their maggots have been pulped and their bones are just dust. Not even the rumoured Blomkamp Alien sequel. I'm out.

Actually i’d pretty much given up on blockbuster films that decade, there was Fury Road in 2015 and some MCU stuff but the main memory is burnout from the grimdark action packed formula. Guess we sort of reached a saturation point where anything remotely action related - even sci-fi - was just throwing spectacle and twists ugh at the screen at the expense of character development. Instead, I delved into older, sci-fi (or both) TV and long form stories told over 8-10 hours of television. And since 2020, gone back to watch the gems I missed.

Which leads us to Legion 2017-19, which I could rave about for days and Amber Midthunder who gave an amazing performance & had some really cool fight scenes. I won’t watch another predator movie, but an action film led by Amber Midthunder? Okay, I’ll give it a shot but once the hype is over.

Prey 2022: 10/10 - sole note is that the french canadian is so thick it requires subtitles.

Sibling relationship with depth and growth ✅ amazing scenery ✅ badass but not stoic-flawless female lead ✅ impeccable slow build up of tension and blood ✅ woof that gnarly bear fight and then things. just. escalate. ✅ predator looking nastier than ever ✅ cheering on the gore fest because of what the bison represent in human terms historically ✅ no sexual violence ✅ credible series of injuries to the predator (angry reviewers weren’t looking closely at the injury count) and learning of Naru ✅
