it’s like…. there are aspects of shadow 2005 i like like the ending where shadow wants to live on the ark in complete isolation or where he bemoans ever being born and is implied to commit suicide. like it has a lot of interesting concepts and ideas. i sort of wish they weren’t applied to shadow, however.

i absolutely hate shadow 2005 i hate black arms and i hate black doom i wish they never happened buuut you're very good with sonic lore and stories so are there any redeemable qualities to those stupid aliens or am i right and they should've never existed

i will let you in on a secret. i fucking hate shadow 2005 as well.

honestly i think the story would have been fine for like an original character. alien gets amnesia and meets people on mobius and then has to battle between duty and desire or something. like yeah an alien invasion where they wanna eat everyone is pretty cool. it’s just a clunky addition to the project shadow lore that was never necessary. also the amnesia arc in general was stupid as fuck for shadow given sa2 was literally all about exploring shadows history.

i sort of think the whole “evil alien” thing added to shadow kinda… demeans the tragedy of the ark. i don’t think i can articulate this well but it’s just… sort of silly in conjunction with the rest of shadow’s past imo.

also in order for shadow 2005 to work literally NO ONE told shadow about his past? who the hell maria was? shadow literally teamed up with rouge in sonic heroes i don’t understand why she never told him when she has a soft spot for him, knew he was amnesiac, and the ambiguity of him being a clone was sort of cancelled out by the end of the game.

i personally don’t find much interesting about the black arms but i would be lying if there wasn’t interesting lore implications about their existence. their knowledge of the chaos emeralds and black doom’s ability to use chaos control is interesting given that the chaos emeralds are not originally from mobius, and that chaos controlling is an incredibly rare ability. i will say i find the black comet always coming around earth every 50 years very odd bc… how were they eating food before they attempted to eat earth? also i found the doom powers in shadow generations very underwhelming tbh.
