Hey rubix!! I just watched the marvels and I LOVED it!!! I was wondering if you could do a carol x reader fic where Carol is introducing her gf to Monica and Kamala and they just click really quickly and bond 😭
I’m going on a carol rampage atm bc she just looked too GOOD 🤭
- ✨
if forever will have me [C.Danvers]
paring: carol danvers x reader
summary: your girlfriend brings two stowaways on board after a rough mission, you welcome them with open arms while carol tries to adjust.
warnings: none?; fluff with minimal plot; carol's a dorky mess and we love her for it; brief emotional moments but nothing too drastic; R's a mom friend in this one frfr; not proofread; i still suck at endings
wordcount: 2.5k
a/n: I AM SO SORRY FOR TAKING OVER A YEAR TO WRITE THIS 😭 you deserved so much better, lovely anon, please forgive me. in an effort to make it up to you, i turned this into a longer fic than i originally planned, and sort of tweaked the movie plot a little because i felt it was missing a few scenes like this. i really hope you enjoy (and that i didn't totally forget how to write for carol) and once again, i'm so sorry for taking so long to write this. hopefully, there'll be more carol fic in the making soon <3
* * * * * * *
To say you were worried about Carol would be an understatement.
While it wasn't completely unusual to go a few days without hearing from her, thanks to how chaotic her job could get, she always made sure to update you as soon as possible. Especially when you were staying in her spaceship catsitting.
Truth be told, Goose didn't really need babysitting. Mainly because more often than not, Carol just took the alien cat with her, both for comfort and companionship. However, it gave the blonde the perfect excuse to convince you to join her.
Again, you didn't really need convincing, but it made your girlfriend feel better when you were brought on board as part of her team. Her "team" being you and her...and Goose...and the occasional call from Nick Fury...and King Valkyrie. As much as the blonde insisted she preferred working alone, she was surrounded by a pretty badass support system.
Said support system wasn't enough to help her with her newest problem, though.
A problem that even you weren't qualified to help her with.
Ship full of homeless Skrulls and emotional visit from the King of Asgard aside, it was nice to have other people aboard. Even if one of those people was Carol's sort of adopted (and abandoned) daughter and the other one was a teenage girl who was quite literally Captain Marvel's biggest fan. They might not have been your first choice of companions, but you were nothing if not a welcoming host.
As soon as King Valkyrie transported the Skrull refugees back to Asgard with her, you made your way to your girlfriend's side.
"Hey," you say, you hand reaching out to take hers. "Rough day?"
Your words make her chuckle despite herself. "That's an understatement."
"What do you need from me?"
"Just...don't let go."
Her arms envelop you before you can even try to question her. You happily return her embrace, allowing her to bury her face against your shoulder and let out the heaviest sigh you've heard in a while. She doesn't have to say anything for you to known she's trying to decompress after the shit show that's gone down.
You hold the blonde close as you run your hand up and down her back, eyes bouncing back and forth between Monica and Carol's biggest fan. As awkward as it is for you, you can't imagine it's any easier for them so, you break the silence.
"Cool ship, right?"
They both nod, although the older of the two looks anywhere but you. You can't really blame her considering her history with Carol and how weird the whole situation is. A situation you still don't know any details of.
"Is, uh, is she okay?" The younger brunette ask.
"Oh, yeah, she's just...recharging."
Your girlfriend grumbles something in response, but you don't pay her any mind. It's not your fault she's literally a human lamp.
You sidestep the two of you until you're out of sight. It's not like you want to be secretive or anything, there's just a higher chance the blonde will tell you what's wrong if it's just the two of you.
"Hey, babe," you murmur.
She grumbles once more, slowly detaching herself from your neck. The glassiness of her eyes instantly makes alarms ring in your head.
"Carol-"
Your girlfriend instantly shrugs you off. "I'm fine, I just...need some time."
As badly as you want to argue with her, the last thing she needs right now is more difficulties.
"So, you're just going to leave me here with your new friends?" You ask with a raised eyebrow.
"You'll be fine, it's not like they're too happy with me either right now."
She tries to laugh it off, but you're no fool. You can see the heaviness on her shoulders, the far-away look in her eye that can't mean anything good. As badly as you want to go with her, you know she needs some time to catch her breath on her own.
So, you let her go, leaving you alone with the newest members of your unofficial team.
Not even five seconds go by before the silence is interrupted by the young brunette. "I didn't know Captain Marvel had a girlfriend."
"Does that mean no one talks about me in the fan forums?"
"That's probably for the best."
You cross the small space until you're in front of them, offering them the warmest smile you can muster. "Listen, I know this situation isn't ideal, but it's nice to have other people on the ship."
Monica gives you the smallest of smiles in response, which might not be much, but it's a start. A start you're not about to waste.
"Let's start over, yeah?" You say, somewhat aware of how shitty they must be feeling too, if Carol's barely hidden emotions are anything to go by. "I'm y/n, this ship's second captain."
"Kamala." She eagerly shakes your hand. "This ship's nice. Actually, it's really awesome."
"I know," you whisper in response, earning yourself a brighter smile.
Once Kamala finally releases your hand, you turn to face the older brunette. The soft look in her eyes does little to soothe your nervousness. You'd imagined meeting her many times before, although under much better circumstances.
"Oh, I'm Monica, but I'm assuming you already knew that."
"Yeah, it's really nice to meet you."
The sincerity in your voice seems to catch her off-guard, but she recovers before you can call her out on it. And by recover, all she really does is sidestep the conversation you need to have.
"Do you think Carol needs help?" She asks.
"Oh, she needs a lot of help but good luck getting through to her," you reply with an affectionate roll of your eyes.
Kamala barely stifles a laugh at your words, clearly enjoying the dynamic you're starting to form with them. While Carol wasn't exactly hard to read, she could be a little rough around the edges at first, especially when placed in stressful situations she feels responsible for.
Monica, on the other hand, lets out a long sigh. "I meant with the ship."
"Oh, yeah, probably. Just know she'll say no if you ask her."
"Yeah, I had a feeling."
There's an edge of nostalgia to her words that you understand all too well. As badly as you want to talk to her about it, to reassure her that what happened wasn't her fault, that Carol still cares, you know it's not your place.
Unfortunately, you're also aware of how awkward your girlfriend can be. It's as endearing as it is frustrating.
While Monica goes down to the ship's engine room to talk to Carol, you stay with Kamala.
You let her admire the place for a few moments before you speak up again. "Hey, you okay? Want to talk about what happened?"
Her eyes remain glued to Goose, busying herself with petting her even while she responds to your question. "You mean how I totally got scolded by my idol?"
You honestly have no idea what she's talking about, but you want her to feel supported, so you nod anyway. "Sure, if you want to."
The only response you get for a few seconds is a heavy sigh. You can see her shoulders slumping forward as she allows herself to finally accept how she's feeling. "I really didn't think our first meeting would go like this. It was supposed to be cooler, y'know? Full of bonding and really funny jokes and me getting to show off my awesome powers. Instead, I just messed up and made THE Captain Marvel mad."
You do your best to stifle the laughter that threatens to bubble up inside your throat. The last thing you want to do is invalidate her feelings but...you can't deny how amusing her rambling is.
"Sweetheart, I promise you Carol's not mad at you and I don't even know what happened. She's just protective. And really stubborn. And not the best team player."
Your words seem to bring little comfort to her. "I just...I don't want to disappoint her."
Kamala's voice breaks at the end, leading you to spring into action faster than you can even process. Even though you're not exactly sure how to comfort her, you know you have to do something. At least until Carol comes back.
"Hey," you say as you walk over to her, your arms wide open for her. "You won't. You're not going to disappoint anyone, okay? I guarantee you Carol's beating herself up for yelling at you. She's a captain, not a tyrant."
Your words make her chuckle even as she accepts the hug offer. She might not fully believe you right now, but that's okay. All that matters to you is that she doesn't feel like an outsider. Because as weird as it might be, you're all in this together now and that means being there for each other.
A few seconds go by before she speaks up again.
"Hey, um...is there somewhere I could shower?"
"Yeah, let me show you."
You show Kamala to the bathroom, helping her figure out how the shower works and giving her some of Carol's oversized clothes to wear. It's a small thing, but you hope it'll help her feel a little more at home in your large spaceship. It'd taken you a long time to get used to the whole being in space thing too.
Once you get back to the main area, you find Monica again, a thin layer of tears making her brown eyes sparkle. You're not exactly sure how to approach her, or if she even wants to be approached, but you know you have to do something. As much as you love Carol, you don't trust she didn't accidentally stick her foot in her mouth.
Monica watches you approach, silently analyzing your next move.
As much as you want to simply walk away, you can't. Not when you know how hard your girlfriend has been on herself about what happened with Monica and her mom.
"It's been hard for her too, y'know?" You say with a soft smile.
She blinks a few times, seemingly trying to hide how affected she is. "Oh, I don't...I'm fine."
Maybe you should leave it alone, it's technically none of your business, and yet...you can't stop yourself from prying a little. Mainly since you're also acutely aware of the team-up situation they find themselves in. The last thing they needis to be at each other's throats because of their past.
"Yeah? Is that why you can't look at Carol for more than five seconds?"
Her jaw clenches at that, but you stand firm. Or as firm as you can be when you're staring down the barrel of a loaded gun. The gun in question being Monica's exasperated expression.
"You have no idea what you're talking about."
Despite her attempt at sounding mad, the way her voice cracks reveals the true feelings lingering under the surface. The ones she's been pushing down for who knows how long.
"Maybe." You shrug. "But I know she's been beating herself up for not coming back sooner. I know she spent the majority of the last five years talking about your mom. About you. You're her family. The only one she has left."
Monica tries her hardest to appear unaffected, but the change in her expression says it all. Her eyes soften as her jaw unclenches, her bottom lip trembling just the slightest bit to let you know you've cracked her defenses.
"She has you."
Her words are soft. Not really a complaint or an argument. Simply a statement. One that makes your face flush despite your hardest efforts.
"That's not...you know what I mean."
For once, she drops the cool act. "I do, but my point still stands. You're her family too. And honestly? I think she needs you more than I do right now."
You let out a soft chucke. "Yeah, I can't argue with that. You'll be okay?"
The question is far more loaded than you realize and yet, she nods. "Yeah, I think so."
With that, you make your way back to Carol, not at all surprised to find her muttering under her breath as she paces back and forth. "Everything okay, Captain?"
She stops in her tracks the second she hears your voice. "Something like that. It's been a long day."
"Tell me about it, it seems you've brought out some strong emotions in everyone."
"Yeah." The blonde does her best to glue a smirk onto her face, but she fails miserably. If anything, her smile comes off more like a grimace than anything.
You cross the space between you in an instant. "How are you holding up?"
She answers your question with one of her own. "How's Kamala doing? I shouldn't have yelled at her earlier."
As much as you hate her tendency to side-step talking about how she's feeling, you allow it. Clearly, you're not the only one who's gotten attached to the young girl. "She's okay, maybe a little upset, but nothing a warm shower can't fix."
A long sigh escapes her and even though you want nothing more than you wrap her up in your arms, you hold back. As difficult as it is, you wait for her to show you what she needs. "This is why I don't work with a team. I'm awful at it."
You can't stop yourself from poking fun at her. "You're literally a captain, though."
This time, the smile that crosses her face looks warmer. Real in a way you're used to. "That's not funny."
"I thought it was hilarious."
You wrap your arms around her neck before she can complain about your shitty jokes, pulling her closer. She catches on pretty quickly and wraps her arms around your waist before she leans in to capture your lips in a slow kiss.
The moment ends far too quickly for your liking.
Her forehead rests against your own, her blue eyes sparkling with emotions you know she can't fully put into words. Not that you'd ever force her.
That being said, you wish you didn't know exactly where things were going.
"You're not going to tell me what's going on, are you?" You ask even though you already know the answer.
"Nope." She pecks your lips before you can protest. "I have enough to worry about, I can't put you in the line of fire too."
"You know I don't mind. I want to be here for you."
Her hand leaves your waist to trail her finger up your arm. She grips your wrist and slowly brings it away from her neck and toward her chest. "I know, princess, but I have to do this on my own. I have to fix my mistakes."
You find yourself huffing in response. "I hate it when you get all serious like that."
She chuckles, bringing your wrist up to her lips for a few lingering kisses. "I'll come back to you before you know it. Promise."
"I'll be waiting, Captain."
You pull her back in without another word, knowing full well you'll both keep to your promises.

Badass Blondes & Dorky Brunettes #04
Diana Cavendish & Atsuko “Akko” Kagari (Netflix’s Little Witch Academia)
“I believe in you.”
Now I never said they had to be just Western Animation ships or that they were just going to be straight ships only. Little Witch Academia is not an action show so maybe I’m stretching the badass part a little much. When I try to talk up the show, I tell people it’s like Harry Potter except I actually like it. All the Harry Potter fans then attack me in a rage. I saw the series first on Netflix then watched the OVAs so I’ll be more series focused on this blog post.
Little Witch Academia is an anime about a girl named Akko who wants to become a witch like her favorite performer, Shiny Chariot. She signs up to go to the same school as Chariot did except Akko isn’t from a witch family nor does she have any talent for magic. Compare that to Diana Cavendish who is from a long line of famous witches and is a prodigy in her own right. I thought it was going to be something similar to Harry and Malfoy but thank goodness I was wrong.
The Badass Blonde
Like I said, Little Witch Academia isn’t an action show. Diana isn’t badass in that sense. She is disciplined, diligent and a hard worker. Diana organizes a lot of the school’s events and assists the staff. As part of the Cavendish family she has her family line to uphold. Because of this (not unlike Allura from my previous post) Diana believes she has to behave a certain way to match her family name. Diana can come off as cold or callous. People assume that she’s a haughty brat.
The truth is she does care. She loves her friends and appreciates the kindness and praise the teachers give her. Diana holds herself to a high standard because she believes she has to. Her mother encouraged her to find a way to restore honor not only to the Cavendish name but also to all witchkind. She’s not beating people up every episode, but she her work ethic is at a level that puts everyone else to shame.
The Dorky Brunette
And now for something completely different. Akko follows the footsteps of her childhood idol to become a witch to make people happy. Akko puts her best foot forward and buckles down giving every subject her complete attention.
She doesn’t do any of those things. Akko is obsessed with her hero, Shiny Chariot. It’s all she ever talks about. Her love for Shiny Chariot extends to also collecting all kinds of merchandise. She has trading cards and posters. Akko is one of those people who likes to talk about her dreams but has a hard time actually doing them. The part of her character that really surprised me was how innocently insensitive she is. When she wants to do something, she’ll do it without any consideration on how it affects the people around her. Check out The Enchanted Parade and you’ll see exactly what I’m talking about.
Akko is hyperactive and has a hard time focusing. She’s loud and short sided. Akko is really childish for her age. One of her saving graces however is that she is genuine. She is open and honest about how she feels. Her dream to be like Shiny Chariot is to use her magic to make people happy.
Their Relationship (Canon)
Diana and Akko are not explicitly in a romantic relationship in canon. At the start of the series, the couple is at odds with each other. Diana takes offense to how little Akko respects the traditions and history of witches. She’s also annoyed (like everyone else) by how much Akko keeps talking about Shiny Chariot. Akko thinks that Diana is a stuck up brat. No one likes to be criticized, but Akko takes it up to eleven whenever Diana chastises her. My main concern is that Akko seems to misplace her anger whenever Hanna and Barbara make fun of her. I guess because Diana never stops them she seems complicit in their teasing.
This changes little by little. Akko learns to appreciate how hard Diana does work. She even takes her criticisms as tough love instead of insults. At the Samhain Magic Festival, Diana is blown away by Akko even more so than everyone else. When Diana is named the Moonlit Witch, she questions why Akko wasn’t chosen. Diana sees the value of Akko’s creativity and recognizes that she does work hard in her own way.
Their relationship really gets an upgrade when Diana leaves school to take care of her family’s estate. There’s a part where Diana asks why Akko even cares. Akko says that she doesn’t want to see her rival just walk out and Diana responds by saying that she’s never considered Akko her rival. Akko takes it the wrong way, but I like to think it’s because Diana never considered her relationship with Akko an antagonistic one. Akko helps Diana save her family from a curse and convinces her to come back to school. After that Diana softens around Akko. They legitimately do becomes friends at this point.
It’s pushed even further during the finale. Akko loses her spirit and it’s Diana who brings her back. They team up with their friends to save the day, but at the end it’s Diana standing tall with Akko.
I do have to bring up the character Andrew. He seems to be positioned to be the love interest. I did a little research and it seems that part of Akko’s original character was to fall in love with every handsome boy she met. This was met with grave pushback from the staff at Trigger so it was dropped. It’s been mentioned that Diana and Andrew would be perfect for each other due to their social status. However according to TV Tropes, Word of God has said that Diana just straight up doesn’t like Andrew. Rewatch the series and you’ll notice it.
Their Relationship (Fanon)
Everyone in the fandom seems to have a very similar view of how they see this ship. They are portrayed as being very affectionate with each other. Akko tries her best to get Diana to be more lovey dovey in public. While Diana has no problem showing Akko love, she gets annoyed whenever Akko does something she’s not supposed to like writing love poems in her class notes. The only major change I can think is who was the first confess. Some say Akko. Some say Diana.

Theme Song
“Love Like You” by Rebecca Sugar
Picking a theme song for this ship took longer than I’d like to admit. The lyrics match the pair perfectly in my opinion. The two are opposites but are still in awe of each other.

Badass Blondes & Dorky Brunettes #02
Astrid Hofferson & Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III (Dreamworks’ Dragons Franchise)
“I rely on you.”
Since we started off with a Disney couple I guess it would be fun to do a Dreamworks couple next. I didn’t see the first Dragons movie in theaters. I rented the movie on DVD and got really into it. Then I showed it to my siblings and they surprisingly liked it as much as I did. They didn’t keep up with the franchise but I did. I saw the second movie in theaters and tried my best to keep up with the show when it was on Cartoon Network. I bet a few of you didn’t know that. Yeah, the How To Train Your Dragon TV show started on Cartoon Network. I tried to keep up with it but they kept changing its time slot. A sigh of relief when they moved the show to Netflix.
This one is more straight forward with Astrid being an action girl and Hiccup being the smart nice guy. While he always found her attractive, nothing happened until after Hiccup began to bond with Toothless. Dragons became a part of Berk life thanks to Hiccup, and Astrid quickly adapted. As dragons became more of a necessity, Hiccup and Astrid found their place as dragon riders and defenders of Berk. Their adventures brought them closer until finally becoming a steady couple...unless you watched the second movie first in which case SPOILER ALERT. Ah who cares?
The Badass Blonde
The only thing Astrid loves more than her ax is using it. Astrid’s policy of ‘kick ass, ask questions whenever’ has been prevalent since the first movie. She was so eager to become a dragon slayer and take up the fight. She had a natural talent for it.
As the years went on, Astrid went from would be dragon slayer to dragon rider. Her attitude towards diligence and practice didn’t change. She trains herself and her dragon for any combat situation. You see her keeping herself in shape for whatever may come. Even after she matured out of punching everything, Astrid is still one the top fighters in Berk.
Astrid’s ability is second to her character. She’s reliable, competent, and a responsible. Its these qualities that made her so invaluable to Hiccup and Berk. Her temper is still there, but nobody’s perfect. Plus if she is mad at you, it’s probably your own fault.
The Dorky Brunette
He’s skinny, a wise-ass, and a whiner. He’s sensitive and considerate of others (which is not a good thing?). He over-analyzes everything, and nobody really likes him that much. I feel like I’m describing myself growing up. Hiccup wasn’t what anybody would call viking material. It was so bad at the beginning that they just tried to keep him indoors so he wouldn’t get in the way of the real vikings.
Thanks to the magic of story progression and character development, Hiccup has grown into tactician and leader. His engineering skills created things no viking could dream of. Academics isn’t exactly high on the viking priorities list.
Hiccup prefers strategy and talking over violence. He isn’t the most charismatic guy in the world but he can be persuasive. He’s still kinda skinny though.
Their Relationship (Canon)
Being the chief’s son, Hiccup was bound to take a leadership role sooner or later. He can’t do everything himself which is where Astrid comes in. Hiccup thinks of a plan. Astrid gets it going. Their relationship was rocky at first. Astrid was the top on dragon training. Hiccup was not. It wasn’t until Astrid found out about Toothless that she began to see him in a different light. Hiccup, not Toothless. Well him too, I guess, but that’s not what we’re here to talk about.
She gave him more of a chance. She acted friendlier to him in the Cartoon Network show compared to the movie where everyone tended to dismiss him. She saw that his ideas had merit to them. Hiccup wasn’t guessing. He was the man with the plan. He still wanted to know her opinion though.
Hiccup is also sensitive, not only to himself but others too. He tries to be considerate of others which is another un-vikinglike trait. He always had a crush on Astrid but didn’t treat her like a prize to be won. The difference between the way Hiccup behaved as opposed to guys like Snotlout is another reason why Astrid gravitated more towards Hiccup. Astrid knows she’s pretty, but she doesn’t like being treated like that’s her only quality.
When they finally pulled the trigger and became a couple they actually kept it a secret for a little bit. That little bubble where it’s just the two of them and nothing else was too tempting to let go of, even for a little while. It didn’t last too long until everyone found out. Their relationship was actually well received much to their surprise. Thankfully the series didn’t end there. The Netflix show is still going and they’re still a couple. The tactician and the warrior together against whoever’s dumb enough to try.
Their Relationship (Fanon)
There difference between the way their relationship plays out on screen and on the interwebs can be boiled down to PDA. After the first movie came out there was a lot of fan art of the characters going to festivals, dances, or other events where they had to dress up together. Then the second movie had fan art of the two snuggling or kissing each other on the cheek. Things like that. More little sweet things that you didn’t get to see a whole lot of in the movies. Now that the show has them being a couple, you get to see them behave like that a little more. Now it’s just all about gifs and screencaps.
Fan Art by chromosomefarm
I have to mention however that another aspect of fanon material is that the fans like to portray the couple as having a very...active physical relationship. I bring it up because it is very common headcanon. Even Craig Ferguson, the voice of Gobber, has joked about it.
Theme Song
“Stay” by Eyeshine
This was really hard. I didn’t get any good suggestions so I just went with the first song on my music player that seemed to match. And some parts really do. They’ll stay by each others’ side no matter what.
Thanks for reading. If you like this post follow me or follow the tag badass blondes and dorky brunettes as write some more about a few of my favorite fictional couples.

Badass Blondes & Dorky Brunettes #01
Rapunzel & Eugene Fitzherbert (Disney’s Tangled franchise)
“Be Patient With Me”
Back in November of 2010, I took my family to go see Tangled and it quickly became one of my favorite Disney movies with Rapunzel as my favorite Disney Princess. Eugene was also a laugh riot. This was cool, but not enough to land on my list of favorite couples. Then Tangled the series happened.
Tangled Before Ever After expanded on the characters and the series just strapped them to a rocket. The real clincher for me was the last scene with Rapunzel and Eugene. After living the first eighteen years of her life in a tower, Rapunzel still has a few social anxieties to deal with and a lot to learn about the real world. She does want to marry Eugene, but she also wants to really experience the life she missed out on before she settles down to become the next queen. Eugene understands and supports her with all the love or time she needs.
The Badass Blonde
One thing I’ve always liked about Rapunzel is how eager she is. She’s just so ready to try everything twice. Unlike a lot of the classic princesses, she isn’t shy when it comes to a fight.
In the original movie she was willing to stand up to the pub thugs before she got to know them. Then she confronted Mother Gothel, the woman who basically controlled her life. In Before Ever After, she let her hair down and took on Lady Kaine and her goons head on. With a frying pan as a weapon of choice, Rapunzel was more than a match for Corona’s criminals. I guess after taking down the Stabbington Brothers and Mother Gothel, everyone else seems like a step down.
She was willing to fight Kaine a second time, prevent an ancient evil spirit from returning and fight mechs as the series went on. Rapunzel would continue to grow as a person and never lose faith in her friends or her values.
The Dorky Brunette
Eugene Fitzherbert is a handsome, suave ladies’ man who can woo anyone into submission with his devilish good looks....or so he’d tell you. The (self-proclaimed) stylish rogue is more remembered by the fans for his one-liners and braggadocios attitude.
He’s obviously used to talking and charming his way out of situations which makes it more hilarious when his best moves do nothing on Rapunzel. It’s even worse on the more cynical Cassandra who, by default, just doesn’t like him.
His attempts to seem aloof and superior just end up showing how adorkable he really is and it’s entertaining as hell to watch.
Their Relationship (In Canon)
Rapunzel and Eugene have a surprisingly good relationship for a Disney couple. I mean, with all the other Disney movies the main couple gets together and that’s it. End of story. We just have to assume everything goes okay. Thanks to tangled the series, we really get to see their relationship develop. Eugene loves how full of life Rapunzel is as she can brighten up anything. According to the tie-in comics and novels, Rapunzel thinks Eugene is the funniest person she knows (even if she doesn’t really know why).
Her optimism and his bravado don’t really clash, but Rapunzel does know when she has to learn from Eugene’s world wiled experience. The opposite is also true with Eugene needing Rapunzel’s good-hearted nature to come to terms with his former life as a career thief. They’re not afraid to talk to each other or give each other space when they need it.
Their Relationship (Fanon)
Fan art by Area
The fans love how in love they are with each other, almost to the point were it reaches sickeningly sweethearts. Almost. Their relationship not only looks health but is also seen as #RelationshipGoals. There isn’t too much fan art of them yet. Everyone just opts to take screencaps or gifs. Expect this to change as the fandom grows!
Theme Song
“I See the Light” by Mandy Moore & Zachary Levi
Yeah, it’s kinda hard to deviate from the official theme especially when it’s the official theme. Its sweet. It matches. It’s literally sung by them. Not much to say.
We finally get to see a Disney couple developed and explored and it’s the sweetest thing. Can’t wait to see more of it.

Sunset Shimmer & (Science!) Twilight Sparkle (My Little Pony’s Equestria Girls franchise)
“I want to understand.”
I know her hair is red-orange or whatever, but there’s some blonde in there so I’m counting it. I know that brunette and purple are two different things but this is the closest I’m going to get so whatever. Valentine’s Day already past but I still have at least five more of these I want to do. I underestimated how long it would take me to write up one of these.
Back around 2011 I was a big time brony until I actually met other bronies. Then I decided it would be best to just enjoy the show at home by myself without interacting with the rest of the fandom. That being said I had a hard time keeping up with the franchise after a while. The Equestria Girls movies are so few and far between so I had an easier time there. Also they’re so much fun to riff. Go on Netflix and MST3k that shit.
Originally a one off idea to sell dolls, Equestria Girls became so popular that it spawned sequels, shorts and maybe even a series. They even changed the focus character. Instead of following Princess Twilight Sparkle the story follows Sunset Shimmer, a pony who left to another world when she felt she wasn’t getting the power she deserved. Her quest for power failed spectacularly and has since been on a quest of redemption and understanding. Enter the human counterpart to Twilight Sparkle...Twilight Sparkle. Her pursuit of knowledge leads her down to a very similar path and outcome. Now they both are trying to learn and understand more about friendship.
The Badass Blonde
There’s some yellow in there so it counts! Again. Equestria Girls. Not an action show. But you probably already knew that. And again, I might be stretching the badass moniker a bit. So what makes this on so badass if she’s not beating people up everyday?
TV Tropes describes Sunset Shimmer as The Ace. As Princess Celestia’s student she was studious and intelligent. This carries over to the human world, being top of her class and all. She also seems to be fairly athletic, able to compete in a motocross race. Sunset Shimmer has also been instrumental in defeating other baddies including Glorisa Daisy and the Dazzlings.
However, the thing that stands out the most about Sunset Shimmer is her ambition. She has a drive that continues the push her to the forefront of all of her goals. As Celestia’s student her goal was to become an alicorn princess and match Celestia. When she wasn’t getting the power she felt she deserved the fled to another world. In the human world, Sunset rose to the top of her class and the top of the social hierarchy. In a high school, but hey, we all gotta start somewhere. Now Sunset Shimmer’s drive is pushing her to try to discover how magic from Equestria works in the human world.
She’s not without her flaws, aside from being evil and turning into a demon. Sunset Shimmer’s ambition pushes her to be more assertive than her friends which can sometimes come off as aggressive. She also has a bad habit of bottling things up when they don’t go her way. This leads her to eventually explode and lash out or yell at someone.
The Dorky Brunette
In the first movie, Princess Twilight Sparkle (again, the pony) traveled to another world where she met human doppelgangers of her friends. Then we all asked the same question: is there a human Twilight? Yes. Yes, there was. This character we call Science!Twilight or sometime Sci!Twi was introduced as a post credits stinger for the second movie. She got a complete introduction in the third movie as a major character. Now I’m not quite sure if dorky really describes her. There’s another word for it. It’s on the tip of my tongue. You know, an unstylish, unattractive, or socially inept person; especially one slavishly devoted to intellectual or academic pursuits who’s purpose is to provide monetary compensation to others who are more adept in the field of athletics for the use of purchasing their midday meal. What’s that called? Oh right! She’s a...
I love that joke. ANYWAYS, Sci!Twilight is kinda like what Twilight was like at the beginning of the series. She’s not anitsocial, just asocial. Sci!Twilight prefers studying and reading over going out and socializing. She doesn’t hate it or have a serious problem with it. She just likes one more over the other. A true introvert.
Sci!Twi tends to be more awkward, not knowing the ‘correct’ way to react to certain social situations. Her shyness can even be compared to Fluttershy’s which is a big deal because the word ‘shy’ is in her name. She’s only comfortable with people she’s very familiar with. Her goal in the third movie was to get accepted into a research program. The kind of program where you go out and do research alone.
She also had a tendency to panic in stressful situations. Twilight had to participate in the archery challenge in the third movie and when started crying when she couldn’t do it right. Kinda reminds me of when I was a little kid. In Legend of Everfree she was too scared to tell her friends about her magical abilities or her recurring nightmares.
She’s more open after meeting her new friends and is willing to give friendship a shot. Twilight is still Twilight though, still chasing intellectual pursuits and trying to understand how magical energy reacts in the human world. That’s actually the same thing Sunset Shimmer is trying to do, now that I think about it...
Their Relationship (Canon)
Again I have to preface, Sunset Shimmer and Twilight Sparkle are not in a romantic relationship in canon. They are just really close friends because, well, you know. Hasbro has also found it necessary to pair Sci!Twi with Timber Spruce (I can taste vomit in my mouth a little). It’s annoying and very hard to sit through.
They have both made the same mistakes with trying to harness magic. When the rest of the group lament or joke about fighting another magical adversary, Sunset is the one who stops Sci!Twi from feeling like an outcast. Sunset is protective of Sci!Twi more than she is for the rest of her friends. Sunset was very suspicious of Sci!Twi’s love interest (I just gagged a little) until the very end of the movie.
Sunset takes an almost mentor or ‘senpai’ role. Her ‘been there done that’ attitude is surprisingly comforting. She becomes Sci!Twi’s emotional support. Sunset encourages her and tries to be more optimistic about their new magical abilities where Sci!Twi is more reluctant.
Their Relationship (Fanon)
Fans take what they see of their relationship and dial it up a bit. Sunset Shimmer goes from being protective to being overprotective. She keeps Timber Spruce and Flash Sentry away at least at arm’s length. Twilight is portrayed as admiring Sunset’s strength. The two bonding over science becomes their PDA.
One very common headcanon across the board is that Sunset will want to pursue an more intimate physical relationship with Twilight. Twilight is always flustered or embarrassed, but ends up going along with Sunset’s advances.

Theme Song
“Perfect For Me” by Show Me the Skyline
I got this song from an AMV of the pairing. To be honest, I’m surprised how well the lyrics match. Call it cheating, but I like it. I would have preferred a different sound but what can you do?
Thanks for reading. The next one will be...whenever I get to it?
