SAD BREAKING NEWS: DCNHS Student and Negrosanon amateur singer 'Patrick James Chua' loses 3rd Place spot in the Daily Contender Rounds, out of the upcoming 'Tawag ng Tanghalan Kids' weekly finals [#OneNETnewsEXCLUSIVE]
(Written by Miko Kubota & Rhayniel Saldasal Calimpong / K5 News Patrol #4 reporter of OneNETnews & Station Manager and President of OneNETtv Channel, and Freelance News Writer, Reporter and Presenter of OneNETnews)
BACONG, NEGROS ORIENTAL -- A 12 y/o amateur singer and a student from a young Dumagueteño representative named Mr. Patrick James Chua, captured the hearts of viewers for the Negrosanon people, as he competed in the national singing competition called 'Tawag ng Tanghalan Kids' (Season 2). Hailing from Bacong town in Negros Oriental, Mr. Chua is a high school student at Dumaguete City National High School (DCNHS). This talented young singer made history as the first and only Dumagueteño kid to grace the national TV stage on the Kapamilya Channel (formerly ABS-CBN in Metro Manila on DWWX-TV Channel 2, and a relay regional station in Dumaguete City on DYMA-TV Channel 12).
In the final results show that aired last Friday afternoon (February 16th, 2024 - Bacong local time), saw Mr. Chua delivering a stellar performance, capturing the hearts of viewers across the Filipino nation. He abruptly ended to secure 3rd Place spot for Mr. Chua with a not-so-impressive score of 90.7%. While Ms. Jinwen Emei Sumanda from Rodriguez, Rizal clinched 2nd Place with 92.7%, and from Makati City, National Capital Region named Mr. Zach Steven Tayamin, emerged victorious as the 1st Place winner with a score of 93%.
'Tawag ng Tanghalan' is a renowned Filipino singing competition segment featured on a Philippine noontime show "It's Showtime". Aspiring singers use this platform to exhibit their talent and compete against one another. Contestants go through rigorous auditions and battle it out in the Daily Rounds throughout Weekday afternoons, with the goal of making it to the Weekly Finals on Saturdays. The daily victor is awarded to PHP10,000 (equivalent to nearly U$D180), while each of the consolation prizes worth PHP5,000 (also nearly U$D90) are given to their non-winning contenders.
His talent and charisma for Patrick James Chua shone brightly on stage the same day in the afternoon, captivating audiences with his soulful voice and undeniable stage presence. Citing several social media photos, showcasing his passion for music and his dedication to perfecting his craft. With his talent and determination, it's no surprise that he has captured the hearts of many fans nationwide, as sources told exclusively to OneNETnews.
As Mr. Chua continues to pursue his passion for new music, there is speculation among local music enthusiasts that he may soon transition into a professional Original Pinoy Music (OPM) singer in Negros Oriental. With his remarkable talent and the support of his community behind him, Chua's future in the music industry looks promising so far. Perhaps one day, we will see him signing music label contracts and releasing hit songs that resonate with local and regional audiences in the Visayas and Mindanao, proudly representing his hometown of The City of Gentle People.
For now, despite of the loss in 3rd Place… Mr. Chua receives a consolation prize of PHP5,000 (or approximately U$D90) for his outstanding amateur performance on a segmented noontime show of "It's Showtime". School officials of DCNHS congratulates to Mr. Chua for doing his best at a national singing competition of 'Tawag ng Tanghalan Kids'.
The journey of Patrick James Chua has not only brought pride to his hometown of Bacong, per the local representative of Dumaguete City, but has also inspired aspiring young singers across the country. With his talent and passion for music, he is undoubtedly a local rising star in the making.

Hm, so...I'm trying to determine which book reviews I would like to tackle first and how I would like to tag and format them. I want it to be both comprehensive and aesthetically pleasing.
That being the case, I'm thinking a brief list will help me put my thoughts in order as well as give potential readers an appetizer as to what they can look forward to.

DREAM DESTINATION
Dauin City
The first legend is telling the story of a majestic tree that was taller than all other trees in the region. The Spaniards asked the local population about the tree’s name. They found out that the tree was called Calawin, and from there it comes to the present name of the town, Dauin. The second story is also speaking about the Calawin tree. The legend is saying that the tree was home of supernatural beings, which were called “Dawinde”. Those beings helped anyone in need. The third story is saying that the native people used to cultivate the lands in the region with banana trees. The banana was not sold by fingers or by a bunch, but by hands, called “Lawing”.
Dauin is a town 15 kilometers south of Dumaguete in the province of Negros Oriental. The municipality of Dauin is bordered on the south by Zamboanguita, on the north by Bacong, on the east by the sea, and on the West, mountains separating it from Santa Catalina. The town has 27,000 habitats. The town of Dauin is divided into 23 municipal subdivisions called barangays. Dauin has an agro-touristic economy. The town doesn’t have superior education institutions such as colleges and universities and its students usually come to Dumaguete, the provincial capital, for continuing their education after High School
Known for its great colorful sanctuaries and reef, the municipality of Dauin is rich in many water activities including scuba diving and snorkeling. Dauin located only about 15 kilometers south from Dumaguete City. Dauin is the home to the Kinaiyahan Festival and the Dauin Kalye Sayaw.

The weather disturbance, to be tagged as 'Nika' under Low Pressure Area (LPA) level, was supposed to enter in the Southeast Luzon area but did not make landfall.
The unusual condition of the weather led to a power outages in some provinces when this occurred at 'Negros Oriental Electric Cooperative 2' (NORECO II) tripped down its power in the morning, and expected restoration follows later at 7am. [ad_1] The National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) has approved seven “high-impact” projects, ranging from agriculture to transportation, the agency’s top official announced on Friday. Three of the seven projects, namely the New Dumaguete Airport Development, Mindanao Inclusive Agriculture Development, and the first phase of the Integrated Flood Resilience and Adaptation, will be funded by official development assistance or ODA. “These projects are expected to significantly contribute to achieving our social and economic transformation goal in the medium term,” NEDA Secretary Arsenio M. Balisacan said during a virtual briefing. The New Dumaguete Airport Development project covers the construction of an airport facility in Bacong, Negros Oriental. It will be implemented by the Transportation department. “This project will replace the existing Dumaguete-Sibulan Airport due to physical and operational constraints involving the latter,” Mr. Balisacan said. “The New Dumaguete Airport shall enhance the province’s tourism and trade potential, economic activities, and standard of living,” he noted. The project will cost P17 billion in total, with the Export-Import Bank of Korea-Economic Development Cooperation Fund contributing P13 billion. The remainder will be borne by the Philippine government. Meanwhile, the Mindanao Inclusive Agriculture Development project aims to increase agricultural productivity, resilience, and access to markets and services of organized farmers and fisherfolk groups in some ancestral domains in Mindanao. “It will improve the economic situation of the indigenous peoples in Mindanao and further strengthen the capacity of local government units (LGUs) to implement support programs that address weak market linkages and poor infrastructure in geographically isolated ancestral domains,” Mr. Balisacan said. The project is expected to cost P6.6 billion. Of the total, the World Bank will provide P5.3 billion, the Department of Agriculture P863 million, and LGUs P461 million. The NEDA board also confirmed the approval of the first phase of the Integrated Flood Resilience and Adaptation project. The project hopes to mitigate flood damage, reduce flood risks, and improve climate resilience in the Abra, Ranao, and Tagum-Libuganon river basins in Mindanao. “The first phase of this flood resilience project will have the following outputs: the improvement of strategic flood risk management planning; the development of flood protection infrastructure in three target major river basins, and lastly, the strengthening of community-based flood risk management measures,” Mr. Balisacan said. The project has an estimated cost of P20 billion and will be financed by the Asian Development Bank. The NEDA also announced changes to the Davao Public Transport Modernization and Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT 3) Rehabilitation projects. The agency approved the Transportation department’s request for change in scope, increase in cost, and extension of the implementation period for the Davao Public Transport Modernization project. The project cost was increased to P73.38 million from its initial P18.66 million. “The project involves delivering a modern, high-priority bus system for Metro Davao, wherein interconnected bus services will be prioritized along 29 routes. The implementation period for this project is extended from 2023 to 2029,” Mr. Balisacan added. At the same time, the MRT-3 Rehabilitation project was granted approval to change its scope, increase in project cost, extension of implementation period, additional loan, and second loan reallocation. The project cost was increased to P29.6 billion from the original P21.9 billion. The NEDA also approved the utilization of a P2.1-billion remaining loan from the Japan International Cooperation Agency to improve air transport facilities. On Thursday, NEDA announced the approval of the University of the Philippines- Philippine General Hospital (UP-PGH) Cancer Center public-private partnership (PPP) pr
oject. It is the Marcos administration’s first approved PPP project. The project will build a P6-billion cancer center. “To set the record straight, there will be no privatization of PGH services. The government shall own the entire facility and PGH shall continue to operate as a public hospital,” Mr. Balisacan added. – Luisa Maria Jacinta C. Jocson [ad_2] Source link
