There was a boy once with hair of burnt leaves and eyes of a grave. He was raised with a straight back and a check in his hands. They called him their golden boy, raised his chin and told him to smile. So he did.
He smiled when he woke up, in the room so big the emptiness was suffocating. He smiled at the empty breakfast table and he smiled at the tutors that knew more of his life than his own parents. He smiled so much that it lost its meaning.
The photographers praised the parents for their behaved son. The shareholders were swayed to his father’s side for being such a good parent. His mother roasted the sons of her friends who couldn’t compare.
As long as he smiled, his father would pat his head and his mother would adjust his tie. But there comes a day in every boy’s life, where one day he wakes up and doesn’t want to smile. That’s when it started, when his smiles became reserved for his dreams. Where he gained glimpses of a different life and where his desires started to form.
When the boy sneered at the family friends, climbed onto the roof, tore his new suits and cut his hair he stopped being so golden. Suddenly the boy was scaling the trees in the backyard, causing crowds of employees to beg him back down. He was feeding the strays with his leftovers and destroying the lawn with a stolen bike his parents didn’t approve of. He was slamming doors and back talking to his father. He was recoiling from his mother’s touch and refusing to wear ties. Worst of all, he made his parents look incapable.
What else could the parents do? They threatened him with his inheritance. They yelled at him. They hit him. They locked him up. And the boy? Ha! He climbed out his bedroom window.
It was late at night, coming back from being gone most of the day, after missing the many superficial meetings asked of him. He used the front door and his mother nearly called the police, thinking it was a beggar. Her son’s clothes were falling off his shoulders. His hair was a mess, his face bloody, his clothes dripping wet, but he was grinning. In his hand, a damp enveloppe. Through it, faintly, you could see the color of bills poke through.
The boy, he’d worked a night shift and he’d never had more fun. In his hands, he held money that he’d earned himself and he couldn’t be prouder. He’d been recognized by people with a hatred for his father, and they jumped him on the way. A scuffle that sent him into the river, but he’d rescued his pay and that was all that mattered.
His mother was speechless and disgusted. His father? He snatched the envelope and pulled out his belt. Get on your knees, he told the boy who’d survived his first street fight. He took the first thing he could be proud of and expected the spirited boy to submit.
There was once a time where this boy admired his father. He built an empire, provided for his family with a house so large he always got lost. When he spoke of his golden son, it sounded like pride. The boy who would succeed his legacy. They would build an immortal dynasty. His son and his son afterwards and so on would follow in their footsteps. But how peculiar, that the more the golden boy learned about his father’s work, the less excited he became for it. A world of cheating, swindling and politics. Of friends waiting to backstab you and of taking money from those who needed it the most. His view of his father changed. This wasn’t an empire he built. This was a pile of bodies. And when the golden boy decided he didn’t want that, his father’s praises and love disappeared.
Get on your knees.
The boy grabbed the belt and with his other hand, he swung to punch his father. There were things he didn’t know about his father - and those things caught his punch and sent him back. To prove his disappointment and disgust in his own son, he took the envelope of money and brought it to the fireplace.
The money itself was nothing compared to what his parents had. It was pennies, if even that. The money could at most pay a quick meal. A burger and fries. But it was his money. It’s money he dirtied his hands for. He sweated for that money. It was proof that he wasn’t just a golden boy. He could be more. Smiling wasn’t the only thing he was meant to do.
Despite his protests, despite his fight, as his mother cried for them to calm down, he had to watch his father throw that proof into the fire. It burned up, the envelope turning the color of his hair before becoming ash. His father? Backhanded him in the face, a ring to set a mark, and straightened his vest to signify a job well done.
Kneeling before the fireplace, the boy felt the loneliness in his surroundings. Everything around him had so little meaning. He was a stranger, staining the carpet with the dampness from the river. Never had the feeling of being out of place been stronger. Watching the flames lick up its food, he chose something different for himself.
He went to his father’s desk and he grabbed all the papers atop it. He grabbed the pile of ties his mother had handpicked. He ripped out the wallpaper. And he fed it all to the fire. Trails of burning things always so much more important than he was. They lined the house like cracks of a volcano erupting. The flames ate the couches and licked up the curtains. They made the paint peel and the wood crack. The household panicked, his father took notice of him again, but this time the boy was ready.
He protected his already bloodied face and jabbed at his sides, he went for his face and for his chin. And as he sent his father tumbling into the wall, he stood proudly, with the flames blazing behind him. The man looked up at him with a gaze that didn’t recognize him, and blood of his own spurting from his nose and mouth.
His mother, in fear, had pulled out the gun, hands shaking as she pointed it to her son, begging him to stop. The golden boy simply smiled, pointing to his jaw as he tilted it.
“Chin up and smile.”
When the fire brigade arrived to save the house, the arsonist had vanished into the night. The parents had hundreds of pictures of the culprit. A brown-haired boy with a collar and tie perfectly adjusted around his neck. His hair combed back and his face padded with makeup for the cameras. His mouth stretched into a shape that didn't reflect in his eyes.
There was no similarity whatsoever to the messy, bloodied, grinning, burnt boy who ran through the streets. Homeless, disowned, orphaned - yet none could match the confidence and pride that fueled him.
It was time for his own choices now - to find the place he was meant to fit, to make his dreams come true.

It is insane to me that by releasing Indi Hartwell you're not only losing her and her potential but also any possible chance of having The Way or InDex on the main roster. They were INSANELY popular in NXT. They didn't even use scripts for backstage bits cuz their improv was so good, Shawn just let them loose. I just can't believe HHH would never ever want to do that, they would have ruled the main roster so hard they were such an untapped gold mine. Such a waste all round.

My newest DnD character, Twentyfive! (full name 25883519) (Their shortened name is a reference to the enneagrams 2 and 5). They're a lawful good warforged marine fighter, looking for a new purpose after the end of the Great Reef War and hiding secrets from their past.
Tumblr media
[Image ID: A digital drawing of a robotic humanoid made from bronze that is partially patined green. Their arms are oversized and they have glowing green lines on their skin, with matching glowing eyes and tubes down their neck and torso. They have a cloth-wrapped greatsword slung across their back. They have no nose, and their jaw is bulky and hinged. The name "25883519" is written on their arm in common, and they also have a glowing tattoo of a ship helm with a star in the middle. Next to them is a drawing of their greatsword, with a dull-colored steel blade and gold-colored handle. Their name is written in the top of the page. / End ID]

these go HARDDDDD!!! i personally like 2 think it goes:
francis - rogue / low level ranger subclass (wayfarer origin)
kelsey - wizard / now warlock subclass (scribe or sage origin feat)
blake - low level artificer / high fighter subclass (soldier origin)
trudy - paladin / cleric subclass (acolyte or guard origin)
tony - bard / high rogue subclass (charlatan origin)
My peachyville headcanon on what each character’s DnD class might be:
Francis- Rouge
Kelsey- Monk
Blake- Fighter
Trudy- Cleric
Tony- Bard
Feel free to add your ideas on what each character’s class could be
#dungeons and daddies#dndads#dndaddies#the peachyville horror#peachyville horror#can u tell which of these im the least sure od#i love trudy but she doesnt super fit into any of our traditional dnd classes#she mostly uses the psychology skill as well as fasttalk but beth also mentioned her being pretty strong#the ones i feel most strongly about is kelsey and blake#i feel like blake was “meant” to be an artificer but his int is like a 9 or a 10 😭#no dexterity either i feel like thats like a 10 too#so his og class is artificer but his fighter subclass is WAY higher of a level.... also he has the soldier backstory#kelsey i feel is 10000% a wizard but thru zhuzel (sorry will i dont rly wanna google how to spell it rn) shes gotten a few levels of warloc#also entertained the idea of tony as like a 1 lvl druid with the rest in bard because of his cat origin LMAO but it just sounded sooo wrong#also thought about a few levels of barbarian for francis bcs of his bathroom freakout tm but its not consistant with his character#like. ygm. one incident doesnt one barbarian make right just bcs youre angry once doesnt mean thats your whole personality#plus hes much more careful with the gun later on so i think ranger suits him#i feel STRONGLY about the mayfarer subclass for him tho:#“An urchin or societal castoff#you learned to survive. Forging your own path and possibly turning to crime when needed#you’ve managed to keep your pride and hope that destiny has more for you yet.“#isnt that SO francis????#anyway#xo#im too invested lol#glenn close#henry oak#ron stampler#darryl wilson

Was bored so i watched the new one piece and it's... not very good. Been many yrs since i last read it but as a story one piece feels very dated. Needlessly melodramatic at times and corny as hell. Maybe im too old for shounen at this point and i expect too much from a show meant for pre teens. Pacing prob isnt helping much either. Feels like the only chara with any depth was nami who unfortunately has the role of "girl". Fish racism motivation was eye rolling to say the least
Also curious why ppl really hated the cowboy bebop adaptation compared to this when theyre both kinda silly with strong sense of style (i assume it's because cb is "precious"/serious and op is already not meant to be taken too seriously)

Writing Tips - Character Strengths And Weaknesses
So characters need to have strong and weak points to keep them interesting and prevent them from seeming too stagnant; a character without strengths feels flat and boring, while a character without weaknesses feels overpowered and stagnant. So when it comes to character creation, how do we come up with good strengths and weaknesses?
1. Archetype. What role does your character fill in the story? Would any of the typical strengths and weaknesses for characters in that role apply to them? Could they be modified or altered to better fit?
2. Backstory. What was their childhood like? Do they have good relationships with their family? Have they worked in certain jobs or participated in activities that would lend themself to a certain skillset, or lack of? What struggles have they faced in the past that might have shaped who they are, for better or for worse?
3. Personality. What is this character like? How much of it comes naturally to them? Is any of it a learned behaviour or coping mechanism? Is any of it an act? How aware are they of this? Is it intentional or just a force of habit? Are the strengths and weaknesses you’re considering compatible with the person they truly are, even if they’re not compatible with the act they might put on?
4. Speaking of compatibility. Does it make sense that your character would have certain strengths or weaknesses depending on these other factors of their life? Are the strengths and weaknesses even compatible with each other? A patient character isn’t likely to be reckless or have a short temper, for example, though of course any combo has the possibility to work when approached with care and consideration
5. Double-edged sword. An easier and, in my personal opinion more interesting, way to approach it is to make the strength and weaknesses stem from the same character trait. A selfless character could struggle to prioritise themself. A loyal character could compromise themself or their objectivity in favour of supporting the people they care about. An overconfident character could get in over their head and underestimate the danger they’re in while taking unnecessary risks, but it would also lead them to taking on opportunities and challenges not many other people would, allowing them unique rewards for putting in the effort and courage. What character trait could you take to an extreme? Would it be good or bad for your character?
6. Character development. What about your character should be different from where they started? Think about the kind of person you want them to be at the end of the story, then inverse that to get them at the start of the story. What journey do they need to go through to develop into the new version of themself? If you want them to end as a responsible, patient and selfless person, they need to start off irresponsible, reckless and selfish. And don’t forget that you can build up negative character traits, and that even heroic characters who are objectively good can keep their less heroic qualities
7. Contextual strengths. Remember in ATLA when Katara couldn’t do much of anything in the desert and Toph was unable to effectively sandbend to the extent she needed to compensate for her blindness? Their strengths were turned into weaknesses, which they later worked to compensate for and improve on. What situation would put your character into the same sort of situation? Are their strengths actually useful in most contexts, or just the context of their environment or situation? Are their weaknesses actually useful, and they’re just not in a position to see this? When taken out of their current situation, would they fumble or thrive?
8. Types of strengths and weaknesses. Characters might have physical strengths and weaknesses, such as physical disabilities, additional features, powers or curses, literal physical strength, etc, but they also might have mental strengths and weaknesses such as intelligence, dexterity, balance, problem solving, a wide range of skills or obscure knowledge, memory, quick-thinking, resourcefulness, social skills, gullibility, etc. Beyond this, there are also separate emotional strengths and weaknesses, such as compassion, emotional intelligence, compartmentalisation, emotional range, self-awareness, insecurities, etc. There’s so much that could become a strength or weakness, and characters can have as many as you like from all three areas
9. Nature vs nurture. What your character has been taught or trained to think and feel and behave like does not inherently mean that this is who they actually are. Depending on their environment and the people around them, two people with the same strengths and weaknesses could end up diverging at critical points to become entirely different people, or two people who couldn’t be any more different could land in a position where they both become more and more alike as time goes on. Our environment and the people in it can shape us, both in our past and in our futures, so don’t leave the present as something stagnant; if a certain trait makes sense for them to have but you don’t want them to have it, have them unlearn it
10. External conflict. What literal journey will your character go on for the story? What strength might be useful for it? What weakness could hinder their efforts? Would these work for their character? If all else fails, make it practical or impractical as desired

The most effective thing about Ever After High is that every student has their own personal struggle that adds another element to just how life-ruining the destiny system is.
Apple is so terrified of what will happen to her if she doesn’t follow her destiny, that she is willing to compromise everyone else’s happiness to make sure it happens. This disregard for other people is only encouraged by the influential adults in her life.
Ashlynn has to be a servant to an abusive family and live knowing that the ultimate end to her supposedly happy ending is dying to set the stage for her daughters traumatic backstory, starting the whole cycle over again with no chance for any of them to escape.
Blondie feels so pressured to fit in to a deeply classist/monarchist society and ashamed of her parentage that she constantly presents a fake version of herself to everyone she knows, even her best friends.
Briar has to spend her whole life waiting for the moment her destiny comes and she falls asleep for a century. She knows that when she’s woken up, she will be forced to marry a boy dozens of years younger than her who she’s never met and live knowing that everyone she ever loved is dead and gone, the very things that she watched cause her mother’s emotional breakdown.
Cedar’s father was so afraid of watching her repeat his mistakes that he overcorrected, making it impossible for her to ever learn lessons for herself. She is also forced to share incredibly personal details with anyone who asks her questions, and can’t be trusted by her friends with any of their secrets, and it’s all because of her father’s past trauma.
Cerise has to hide who she truly is and never gets to see her family together and happy despite the fact that her parents have potentially the most healthy and mutually beneficial marriage in the whole franchise.
Daring was groomed from birth for a destiny that ends up not actually being his at all, leaving him aimless, feeling as though he has no purpose and has wasted his entire life.
Darling is forbidden by patriarchy and destiny to become a knight, the only thing she really wants, and at which she would be better than both of her brothers. She has to hide who she is and what she loves from everyone she knows
Dexter lived his whole life never knowing what his destiny would be but also knowing that whatever it was he’d have to commit to it forever the moment he discovered it at Legacy Day.
Duchess has spent her whole life knowing that the story she’s commited to living out ends in tragedy for her, and then had to watch the very people she’s been jealous of for years because of their seemingly happy endings give up those endings, while Duchess, loyal and rule following Duchess, is still stuck with her tragedy.
Faybelle tries so hard to commit to what she sees at her destiny that she’s never had a real friend in her life. Even still, no one recognizes her for all that effort and all she’s given up to be a suitable villain. Everyone is more afraid of Raven, who doesn’t even want to be evil.
Hunter has to constantly go against his moral compass to fulfill his destined role as a Huntsman and to try and make his father proud of him.
Kitty has been taught over and over again to value her Mother’s approval over all else, even at the expense of her friends. Her destiny is to create mischief, but how much more mischief can a dissolving world take before it’s too much?
Lizzie finds it almost impossible to express love or care for anyone else due to her mothers excessive conditioning that’s nearly akin to brainwashing. The saddest thing might be that her mother is actually, in her own way, trying her best to prepare Lizzie for a world that will only ever see her one way—as a villain. Now she lives in Ever After, princess to a kingdom that might not even exist for much longer, having given up everything for a destiny that may soon be impossible.
Maddie is a refugee forced from her home into a world she barely understands at a tender age. But she cannot express any angst or negative feelings about this circumstance, because to do so would go against her character. She lives in a world obsessed with destiny and stories while not even knowing if she’ll ever be able to return home and live out her story.
Raven is judged by almost everyone around her for her mothers crimes, many of which were required of her by destiny in the first place. She is nearly forced to commit to becoming a tyrannical megalomaniac (and almost falls into it herself, several times) who would be sentenced to lifelong punishment and torture for committing acts that weren’t even her idea in the first place, and the one punishing her would have been the very girl who begged so often for her to stop being so difficult and just follow her destiny.

The Veilkeepers ~ Progress Post
Tumblr media
An episodic interactive fiction that spans across four seasons. Each episode features a new mission, set in a new world with new objectives, new stakes, and a new cast of characters.
◊ The Story
As a Keeper for a powerful, interdimensional organization, you are tasked with journeying to distant realities on the brink of collapse, using your skills to restore balance and prevent their destruction. Armed with advanced tools and accompanied by skilled allies, you’ll navigate alternate worlds and make choices that will shape the destiny of entire civilizations.

Will you rise to the challenge, or will the weight of your mission prove too great? The choice is yours.
◊ Customizable Hero
You will have various options available to customize your character as you see fit.

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
◊ Planned Features
Character Creator: I want to have a visual character creator like the one from my DBD Fan Game, but this one would use entirely new assets and match the style of the other characters' portraits. This isn't a guaranteed feature, as this sort of thing tends to be VERY tedious.
Companion Selection: Be able to choose which two companions join you during each mission. This would significantly alter the course of that episode, and open up new choices or routes to take throughout your mission.
◊ Current Progress
The demo, which contains Episodes 1 and 2, is a work-in-progress and currently sits at around 25,000 words. What I haven't yet decided on is if I'll release updates by the episode, or if I'll release them season-by-season...
I'll figure it out! Anyway, this is just a lil' peek at what I've been working on outside my fan game :D The demo's close to finished, and I'll keep y'all updated on its release!

Writing Notes: Antihero
Tumblr media
An antihero - a central character who lacks the characteristics an audience associates with a conventional hero.
They are ambiguous protagonists—complex characters who have a dark side.
Despite a flawed exterior, a history of bad decisions, and even a questionable moral code, an antihero is ultimately guided by good intentions.
Tips for Writing an Antihero
Despite their flaws, antiheroes are realistic characters that readers can relate to. Here are four tips for creating a great antihero for your story:
Create a main character who is complex. Think of how you would write a traditional hero. Create your antihero by giving them the opposite attributes. If a hero is an idealist, your antihero is a cynic. Make them mysterious so their character is revealed bit by bit. A great antihero has flaws just like a real person. But despite an antihero’s weaknesses, their good side is illuminated as the story progresses. These contrasting qualities make an antihero more complex and interesting.
Give your antihero internal conflict. Every great antihero has an internal struggle driving their actions. Before you begin writing, sit down and flesh out the character. What event is the source of their internal struggle that informs their behavior in the story? As you write, slowly reveal your antihero’s backstory to let readers know what makes them tick.
Don’t confuse your antihero with the antagonist. For the antiheroes with misguided morals, the ends justify the means. They can explain away the bad things they do if the result is ultimately good and they emerge a hero. When writing an antihero, you can bring them to the edge of evil, but they’re never as evil as the true villain of your story. Unlike an antagonist, an antihero ultimately believes they are acting for a noble cause. Some characters, like the DC Comics character Harley Quinn, alternate between being an antihero and an antagonist, depending on the context.
Use supporting characters. In the TV show The Sopranos, antihero Tony Soprano had his therapist, who showed Tony’s vulnerability and made the audience have a soft spot for a guy who ordered a hit as easily as he ate a bowl of pasta. Create a side character who can illuminate your antihero’s redeeming qualities. The best antiheroes are the ones readers can’t believe they’re rooting for.
Types of Antiheroes
Think about the rough-around-the-edges antihero Han Solo compared to the traditionally heroic Luke Skywalker. Antiheroes go against the grain and are often social outcasts who operate by their own rules. Here are different antihero archetypes found in fiction:
The pragmatic rebel: The pragmatic antihero is a realist. They might associate with both good guys and bad guys and take whatever action they deem necessary to accomplish their mission. Their morals are, for the most part, good, but they won’t hesitate to do what’s needed to be heroic—even if that means taking out a few bad guys. They won’t intentionally cross a line unless it’s for the greater good, and they may still follow the steps of the hero’s journey.
The unscrupulous antihero: This is the antihero whose morals fall into a grey zone. They have good intentions but are driven more out of self-interest rather than the greater good. They can be cynical and have a jaded view of the world. Their actions are often dictated by past traumas and inner conflict, revealed through their backstory. They don’t think twice about how they achieve their goal and who they need to push out of their way, and they sometimes even enjoy the dark side. Annaliese Keating, the antihero played by Viola Davis at the heart of the show How to Get Away With Murder, is cutthroat and morally compromised, but her motives begin to make sense as the audience gets a deeper look into her inner life.
A hero by any means necessary: The titular antihero protagonist of the television series Dexter (as well as the novel it’s based on, Darkly Dreaming Dexter by Jeff Lindsay), borders on being a villain. Antiheroes like Dexter Morgan justify their behavior because it results in something that benefits society, even though their actions are questionable—and sometimes even psychotic. For example, Dexter might have good intentions as a vigilante serial killer of other killers, but his deeds are those normally associated with an antagonist.
Example: Walter White
Walter White is the main character of the TV series Breaking Bad.
As a man dying of cancer, White begins to make and sell methamphetamine to save money to support his family after his death.
As the series progresses, Walter White’s character arc is dramatic as he moves through the ranks of antihero archetypes, crossing every moral line and almost assuming the role of villain.
Told from any other point of view, Walter White would be the antagonist of this series but instead he is an antihero.

so. on dropout.tv there is one (1) episode of a show called "Dimension 20: Foundry", filmed over zoom during the pandemic, that never got past this pilot episode as far as I can tell. the idea is that brennan lee mulligan and [guest] will stat out a character together. the guest in this episode is lou wilson.
they create a full character sheet for Chungledown Bim*. as a 20th level warlock (Pact of the Chain).
now, it's possible that "Dimension 20: Foundry" just never took off, or got pushed to the side, but I personally believe that brennan lee mulligan made up this show specifically to trick lou wilson into creating his archnemesis.
the d20 wiki page for Chungledown Bim has the basic stats and some of the feats, but nowhere near the level of detail as a full character sheet (understandable). also completely understandably, the d20 transcription fan community has not come out with a transcript for this one extremely obscure video. I bring this up because I went through and did my best to accurately transcribe the character sheet, because it's fucking bonkers.
I also included some direct quotes from the episode in the often-ignored 2rd page of the character sheet where you list your backstory and what you look like and "allies and organizations" and general stuff that's significant but has no mechanical properties.
so. TLDR: i re-created Chungledown Bim's character sheet from the video where brennan and lou create one for him. god help us all.
*lou states in the video that 'Chungledown' has no hyphen.
bc the image IDs are going to be so so long, I'm putting em below the images instead of in alt text.

sorry the resolution's shit, I don't know why it did that.
note: I will not be noting areas I left blank in the image id. you can assume it's a basic dnd 5e charsheet template. i did the dark mode one bc i have sensitive eyes and wrote in comic sans for dyslexia reasons but otherwise that's how its organized, idk how to explain it in an image id other than just listing the information contained within.

Plato? 🧍
Plato! the gentle giant! the cat who embodies the archetypal 'no thoughts behind those eyes' <3
[he's a himbo]
Tumblr media
✨Personality
this might be a strange way to start with characterizing him, but I imagine that Plato is one of those types of people whose amygdala are just...evidently small. he's simply a lackadaisical, easygoing (some might say lazy...lookin at Jenny and Skimble), and vaguely hedonistic chap. Difficult to rile, slow to anger, almost immune to fear and panic...etc.
he's a well-intentioned Jellicle, but sometimes he's passive and persuadable, even to a fault. he doesn't seem to have impassioned opinions about anything in particular...and you know what they say about not standing for something!
Despite being among the tallest and strongest members of the tribe, you're more likely to find him dozing off or goofing around with the kittens than you are to find him pulling his weight, or accomplishing feats of dexterity for which felines are known. Alonzo, his unofficial mentor, is trying to instill some gusto into him, and perhaps a concept of reverence while he's at it...but you can't make a tabby change his stripes.
Despite being good-natured at his core, Plato is about as cerebral as he is industrious...that is to say, not very. he's prone to forgetting about commitments, making avoidable mistakes, zoning out, and sometimes saying unintentionally insensitive things. you need to be perceiving keenly in order to have an appropriate filter, after all. he's definitely not "stupid"...just seemingly off in his own world more often than not.
He worships Tugger (like many do) and hangs out often with Tumblebrutus and Pouncival. his relationship with Victoria errs on the side of indistinct...but it has potential lol.
✨Backstory
The exact details of his backstory are a little nebulous in my mind atm, but for now I'm going with the idea that he was born into a different colony overseen by a...rather passionate zealot. Baby Plato was not as enamored by this leader's demagoguery as his cohorts all seemed to be, but he did rather take to the leader's flashy younger brother. there was just something about him that had Plato locked in; perhaps there was no rational explanation (there often isn't with kittens!) but he found himself wanting to emulate that handsome, charismatic pinnacle of felinity.
Not long after Plato came around, however, his hero seemed to disappear from the tribe...and when Plato attempted to ask after his whereabouts, his inquiries were strictly shirked. With his idol gone, Plato found himself simply not caring to pledge allegiance to this colony. the environment was too militant, the expectations too demanding, the entire community just...unpleasant and unfun.
as a result, Plato began leaving to roam the streets of London in search of reprieve. his flightiness was deeply frowned upon, leading his companions to seemingly take up the task of ostracizing him into conformity...but Plato was nonplussed. He kept leaving with increasing frequency until, one day, by chance, he found the Junkyard, populated generously with cats who were...singing, and dancing, and...having fun...?
with no concept of propriety and no social anxiety to speak of, Plato immediately attempted to ingratiate himself into this group. the culture shock was almost egregious, but these strange cats didn't turn him away. at first, the wandering kitten would intermittently leave to rejoin his colony, instinctively gravitating back towards the place that he had initially known as "home." But, one day, when he came back to the Junkyard, he saw a familiar face that he had resigned himself to never seeing again.
It was the colony leader's younger brother! his hero! it turned out that he had left Plato's colony to come here, to the Junkyard, to embody the oaths and enjoy the promises of Jellicle Cats. Plato thought that if his idol could do that...so, certainly, could he!
so, yes, needless to clarify/tl;dr...Plato was born into Macavity's syndicate, and developed an idol worship of Macavity's then-second-in-command, Tugger. Tugger left (along with Demeter and Bombalurina), and Plato coincidentally found him at the Junkyard later. That discovery sealed the deal for Plato; he simply never went back to his original colony. Since he was only a young kitten when he extricated himself from his inherited circumstance, he didn't have much of a concept of the gravitas of Macavity's moral bankruptcy on the onset. he ended up gleaning a lot of information about the depravity of the Hidden Paw via secondhand sources. and yet, still, he doesn't seem to be as emotionally affected by the legends and alleged ferocity as everyone else is...
