Head full of akaren with separate ways (worlds apart) by journey in the background

Childhood friends akaren where kyo gets turned into a demon instead of akaza and akaza decides to become a demon slayer in order to help find a cure for kyo

He's gagged, which helps, but he could easily rip it off with his hands so he tells akaza to tie him up as well.

Akaza strongly resists, but kyo is insistent and he finally reluctantly does.

With kyo tied up and as comfy as he could be in the shed, akaza thoroughly locks it up and then threatens the life out of the villagers so they never dare open the shed and goes to final selection.

But akaza is still young and he's inexperienced with demons and their regeneration and dies during the selection.

Still, kyo faithfully waits.

He doesn't really have a concept of time since he became a demon, so it's no bother to wait however long he has to.

Akaza would return eventually, he knew, he just had to wait and be good.

Time melds together as he watches bugs creep about in the dark, listening to the world outside.

The hunger is unbearable at times, but the gag and ropes are a stern reminder to remain in control.

He entertains himself by trying to reclaim his memories, but even the few he still held after he was turned are starting to blur and become fuzzy, sharp edges losing focus and fading away.

He… had a family at one point he thinks, a mother, a father.

… a sibling?

He can't remember.

The hunger soon fades into the background, only rising when the occasional brave human ventures near his shed.

His teeth ache and grind against the bamboo muzzle, his hands clenched, as children whisper to one another, daring each other to approach the locked shed.

An adult soon chases them away, but it's a reoccurring thing.

His shed has become something of a legend in this small town, not that kyo is aware.

Sometimes he wonders about breaking his fraying bounds, of snapping his teeth until the gag breaks, of finally giving into the hunger and being free from this pain, this loneliness.

But he never does.

He has to wait, he knows he does, someone is coming for him, he can't remember who but the promise is burned into his mind, he can't leave until they've come.

His patience will pay off, it has to.

The bugs have begun to chew through the ropes causing them to slacken as the years drift by, the shed is beginning to rot and decay.

Sunlight peeks through in tiny cracks, striking terror deep in kyo's heart as he moves for the first time in decades, carefully tucking his legs beneath him to escape the deadly rays.

He wonders if he'll die here.

And suddenly all the anger and hurt he's buried down comes rising up, crawling up his throat, sitting heavy on his tongue,

How could that person break their promise? he thought, eyes burning, how could they abandon him like this, after all kyo has done, after how loyal he's been.

Hasn't he been good? Hasn't he followed all their instructions?

Even though the ropes are frayed and crumbling he hasn't flexed his muscles to break them, the gag is intact although dented from his teeth, he's remained in this grimy little shed day after day even as the sun threatens to kill him.

He's almost tempted to just let it shine on him, as a twisted sort of revenge.

For the person who left him here to come back to nothing but a corpse, a pile of ash and bone and cloth, to feel even a smidge of the anguish kyo has suffered through, continues to suffer through.

He stares at those small rays of sunlight and is so angry he can hardly breathe.

Who is a night owl: oh akaza definitely. kyou can’t keep himself awake past 11:30 PM, he’s way more of a morning person. plus the whole demon thing...lmaoooo. kyou’s sleeping does change up when akaza comes around more often though, bc he wants to be with him! and the nighttime is the only time they can be around each other until kyou makes a windowless space in the rengoku house for akaza to hang around in.

Who is a morning person: kyou, 100%. this man is up at the ass crack of dawn every day. 

Are they cuddlers: BIG TIME. you bet your ass they are. akaza is more enthusiastic about it, but don’t be fooled kyou is just as cuddly as akaza is and simply loves hanging on him / when akaza hangs on him

Who is the big spoon: both!

Who is the little spoon: both! it depends on how they’re cuddling at the moment.

What is their favourite sleeping position: wrapped up in each other in some capacity. akaza doesn’t sleep as a demon obviously, and kyou often winds up with his face buried in akaza’s chest / shoulder.

Who steals all the blankets: kyou does lmao he’s a blanket thief despite being a human space heater himself

What they wear to bed: comfy loose clothes! akaza probably wears his usual silly vest and loose pants, despite kyou offering him a set of clothes to hang around in .

Who likes seeing the other wearing their t-shirt: both, if akaza had a tshirt for kyou to wear lol. but kyou adores seeing akaza in his clothes he can’t deny that

Who falls asleep mid-conversation: kyou, humans gotta sleep after all. he probably falls asleep to akaza’s voice on bad nights where he just cannot fall asleep himself, so he gets akaza to tell him stories or talk about nothing.

Who wakes up in the middle of the night with nightmares: only bc of the demon thing, kyou. but modern verse it’s akaza uwu

Who accidentally punched the other in their sleep: KYOU ASDFGHJ CANT YOU IMAGINE?? kyou, laying on akaza’s chest while akaza plays with his hair thinkin he’s so cute in his sleep and then BAM just. sucker punch. it was a dream lmaooo

Who can’t keep their hands to themself: a k a z a he’s so guilty of this lmao. kyou loves it though despite trying to hide it. go wild go feral akaza

Who said “I love you” first: kyou, bc he wanted akaza to know that he was loved and that kyou wanted him to feel like he belonged in a good place

Who would have the other’s picture as their phone background: both are you kidding lol. kyou’s modern lockscreen is probably him with sen, but the home screen is akaza.

Who leaves notes written in fog on the bathroom mirror: kyou bc he’s a stupid romantic and will be a corny shit until the end of time

Who buys the other cheesy gifts: neither tbh, i cant see either of them being into material things for each other, even just silly misc items

Who initiated the first kiss: main verse, kyou. he just got so distracted by akaza’s smile and his pretty eyes uwu

Who kisses the other awake in the morning: akaza!! peppering kisses all over kyou’s face / neck is the best way to wake him up and he adores it.

Who starts tickle fights: lmao they both start regular fights but akaza seems like a little shit who’d do this, so akaza!

Who asks who if they can join the other in the shower: both, but more often akaza!

Who surprises the other in the middle of the day at work with lunch: in modern verse, tbh both of them would if they got the chance!

Who was nervous and shy on the first date: oh my god kyou, he’s a mess. he’s so nervous. akaza is probably freaking out in his own way too bc emotions are Hard

Who kills/takes out the spiders: both!

Who loudly proclaims their love when they’re drunk: if demons could get drunk/drink it’d be akaza lmao but its not like he didn’t already do that to begin with!
