(forever) stuck with you
"Are you serious? Maybe, you're not doing it right." He pushes the man's hand away from the knob, fingers curling around it tightly it to jiggle it with force. He lifts his face, lips parting to speak but nothing audible escapes them. His mind is too busy spinning, looking for other ways the two of them can leave the room. Was the air conditioning vent bolted or easily removable like in the movies? Pounding until someone passed by could work, but the chances were slim that anyone was near the end of the hall at this hour. "Seriously, what did you do?"
He didn't want to appear accusatory. However, that ship had sailed for him in a matter of seconds. Could survival mode kick in that fast? He needed out and Byeongkwan wasn't helping him at all. He pats around the pockets on his body, searching for his cellphone. He finds it on the front pocket of his backpack, thumbing the on button. He expects it to light up and be the hero to their peculiar dilemma. Nothing. Just black nothingness like where his despair grows in exponentially.
"Does your phone work?" He asks the older man, holding down on the button to see if he could use his own even if only to send out a cryptic 'SOS' message. No luck. The lights turn off automatically above them, quickening his heartbeat and he discreetly inches closer to Byeongkwan. He had only softly exhaled in surprise. There was no squealing coming out of his mouth. "That scar— No, um. Should I start yelling while you search for your phone?"

⸻ NUISANCE ( ft. @lgcjunyi )
July 2020
It was a lot like the first day of school. A day of check ins, facility tours, manager meet and greets. The atmosphere was laden with a mixture of naive excitement and nervous anticipation. Today marked the start of what could quite possibly be a life changing experience for some. But not for Baek Byeongkwan.
Or Byeok Byeongkwan according to his misprinted access card. ( We’ll get that fixed after orientation, they said ). To this fresh faced first year trainee this was nothing more than another gig with a few more perks. He was already mapping out his new favorite spots - a nice cushy booth in the corner of the legacy cafe where the meals were free. A 24-hour gym with all the amenities. And can't forget all the eye c - Focus. He should be focused. He was there to ‘train,’ after all.
He follows his small group along to the music rooms - the only part of the tour he hadn't completely zoned out for, intrigued by the new baby grand piano and a few electric keyboard options he’d be getting to know very well over the next few weeks. Months if he was lucky. His friends were already placing bets on how long he’d make it under a strict regimen of classes and workshops before the company sent him packing. The group begins to move again and he rushes to catch up, brushing past another new trainee lagging behind. “Oh, sor - “
Well, so much for staying focused. “Sorry about that,” he mutters a quick apology, stepping aside to allow her to pass. And give himself a better view ( ...of her uh, beautiful hair. Yeah, let's go with that ).
Trainees, please take your seats, a manager instructs as they’re led into a large conference room. Byeongkwan shuffles over to an empty seat next to his fellow newbie as a stack of various schedules, calendars, and forms requiring signatures make their way around the room. He clicks his tongue, slipping the pen he’d always kept tucked behind his ear into his palm and letting it subtly slide to the floor. Giving it an added kick for good measure before leaning towards her with a warm smile. “Hey, do you have an extra pen I could borrow? I think I must’ve dropped mine on the way in.”

now that i'm counting out everything that happened this year… what the literal shucks was 2020??? even for there being a pandemic and having to stay indoors, this is still the most high-velocity year i can remember since college – but, unlike college, not all of it was bad.
granted, the first half of the year was pretty bad – my grandmother passed away, working from home was a rocky transition, even nearly got kicked out (that's a story for another time). yet somehow i made a ton of levels, poured my heart into Rivers, and built Cartridge Tilt.
meanwhile the second half was like restful discovery: forging an important new friendship-turned-relationship, coming out as genderfluid AND pan, improving my living situation with a new desk and other nice things…
and i've barely even scratched the surface of this year!
i may not have accomplished everything i wanted to – and honestly, who did? – but i'm happy about the fact that i not only survived 2020, but did so with grace. despite everything, i have new skills, new resources, new friends, and a new understanding of myself.
i don't keep new years resolutions well, so i have just one for 2021: finish more stuff than in 2020. not "make" more stuff, finish more stuff.
my creative energy definitely suffered this year, but now that i'm finding my footing, i hope i'll get to do some neat things soon 💖

Harry Styles/Louis Tomlinson AO3 Works Stats
The other day, I was curious to see what the trajectory of uploads of Larry fanfic on Ao3 was and if it was increasing.Anyway, it was a pretty simple process, and here were the findings:
Perfect right? Done. Time to go to bed? No, because ya girl got hyper-fixated. So grab a cup of tea and enjoy this absolutely ridiculous waste of time...
Introduction
The Covid-19 pandemic profoundly affected various aspects of societal behaviour, including participation in online communities. The ‘Larry fan fiction community’ had a notable influx of new participants and emerging writers during this period. My antedotal observations suggested a significant number of authors have been publishing their first works as recently as this month. This study aims to quantify the trends in Harry Styles/Louis Tomlinson fan fiction uploads on AO3 (Archive Of Our Own) over the past decade, with a particular focus on discerning any noticeable uptick in contributions corresponding to the pandemic’s timeline.
Method
The data collection was executed over several days, starting from the 16th of October 2023. Due to this, the 16th of October was used as a reference point for all of the 12-month periods. The following parameters were employed for filtering:
Relationship Category: Harry Styles/Louis Tomlinson.
Inclusivity: All pieces that included this relationship, irrespective of the presence of other pairings. The result of this means there are likely some works included where they are a side pairing.
Language: All languages were included.
Work Status: Both individual pieces and those parts of a series were included, as were completed and incomplete works.
Accessibility: Being logged in allowed access to members-only works.
During the analysis, two works were excluded due to backdating, to ensure the timeframe remained consistent. Due to the dynamic nature of the fan fiction platform, some works underwent updates or were removed during the data collection process. While these fluctuations did cause some inconsistencies, they were negligible and did not significantly impact the overall dataset.
For the 12-month periods under consideration, three main categories were analysed: total, completed, and unfinished.
Results
A comprehensive analysis of Harry Styles/Louis Tomlinson fan fiction uploads spanning from 2011 to 2023 revealed the following insights:
2011: A total of sixteen works were documented, all of which were completed.
2012: The total number of uploads rose to 417. Among these, 409 were completed works, while eight remained unfinished.
2013: A significant surge was observed, with total uploads reaching 4,795. Completed works accounted for 4,251, whereas 544 were left incomplete.
2014: The growth trend continued, recording a total of 6,303 uploads. 5,296 were completed, and 1,007 were in-progress.
2015: The first decline was witnessed, although minor, with 6,105 total uploads. Completed works comprised 4,919, and unfinished ones stood at 1,186.
2016: A slight decline was noted, totalling 4,805 works. Completed pieces were 3,765, with 1,040 still in-progress.
2017: Uploads further decreased to 2,898. Of these, 2,297 were completed, and 601 remained unfinished.
2018: A modest rise was seen with 2,784 total works. Completed contributions were 2,275, while 509 were ongoing.
2019: The total dropped to 2,064. Completed pieces stood at 1,700, and 364 were still under development.
2020: A slight increment occurred, totalling 2,572 uploads. Of these, 2,071 were finished, and 501 were ongoing.
2021: The count increased to 3,195. Completed works reached 2,483, with 712 in-progress.
2022: A total of 3,767 works were uploaded. Completed works were 3,090, while 677 were yet to be finished.
2023: The most recent data showcases 4,018 total works, with 3,104 completed and 914 still ongoing.
After collating the primary data on completed and uncompleted works, I wanted to look at the distribution based on word count. The intention behind this exploration was to discern if there were patterns or preferences within the writing community regarding the length of the stories. (Please note that on diagrams representing word count, the years are now in descending order)
The categorisation of word count was structured. Works were segmented into word count brackets that started from the shortest stories, ranging from 0 to 1999 words, then progressively moved up in intervals: 2000-4999 words, 5000-9999 words, and so on due to the high prevalence in numbers in the shorter works. This structured approach allowed for a visual representation of how numerous works fell into each bracket for each year.
If you click on it, you might be able to see the distribution.
Results: Word Count Analysis
The following overview encapsulates the distribution of word counts for fan fiction uploads from 2011 to 2023:
0-10,000 Words:
2023 observed the highest concentration within this frame with 2507 works. Over half of the total published works for the 12-month period were found within this bracket.
The trend experienced notable growth from the 14 entries in 2012.
2014 saw a peak with 4994 works in this category, followed by a fluctuating pattern in subsequent years.
10,001-50,000 Words:
2023 recorded 1,031, a slight increase from 1,010 in 2022.
2015 led the chart with the most works in this range.
50,001-100,000 Words:
The count in 2023 showcased the highest number in this category, with 293 works.
2016 and 2021 were equal second, with 219 works in this category.
100,001-300,000 Words:
2023 had the most works in this segment, followed by 2022 and 2021.
Prior to this, the peak was in 2017.
300,001 Words and above:
The numbers in this range are comparatively limited, with 2023 having the most works surpassing 300,000 words.
Most years witnessed very few works in this extensive word count bracket, with numbers often remaining in single or low double digits.
I was also interested to find where most work stopped being completed. This is the percentage of completed works in each range.
Limitations of the Analysis:
AO3 Filtering System Limitations: The AO3 filtering system does not readily display the initial posting date of a fic. A fic could have been started several years prior to its completion but only shows up in the filtering system in the year it was last updated. This poses a significant limitation as the actual duration taken for the completion of a work might not be accurately represented.
Human Fallacy: There's always a potential for human error in manual data collection and analysis. Overlooked details, misinterpretations, or unintended biases can inadvertently influence the results.
Deletion and Date Modification of Works: Authors may delete their works or modify posting dates. This becomes significant for older works with a higher likelihood of deletions or date changes. Such actions can skew the numbers, offering a misrepresented view of the works available during a particular year.
Variability in Word Count Reporting: While categorising based on word count is useful, it's possible that authors might update or expand their works after the initial posting, leading to changes in word count categories over time.
Conclusion:
The data spanning from 2011 to 2023 shows that over the 13-year period, there has been a marked increase in both completed and uncompleted works, with the total number of works increasing more than 250-fold from 16 in 2011 to 4018 in 2023.
From 2011 to 2015, there was a notable surge in the number of completed works, culminating in 2014 with a total of 6307 works. This could potentially reflect an increased growing interest or a pivotal shift in the community or broader fandom dynamics during this period.
From 2016 to 2019, a noticeable decrease in the total works emerged, with 2019 seeing the steepest drop. This decline aligns with the onset of One Direction's hiatus. While causation cannot be conclusively established, it does provide a reasonable explanation.
Beginning in 2020, a revitalisation is evident, with figures steadily climbing and nearing their zenith by 2023. While this remains speculative, anecdotal accounts suggest that the pandemic, affording individuals more leisure for social media coupled with the growing popularity of TikTok, may have reignited interest in the fandom, steering them towards both reading and potentially writing fanfiction.
In summary, the AO3 community showcases dynamic growth, decline, and resurgence patterns over the examined period. While completed works have seen fluctuating trends, the spirit of initiation remains unwavering, as observed by the consistent number of uncompleted works.
Length of works
In 2011, the publication of longer stories (10,000 words and above) was almost non-existent. The numbers began to rise steadily, with a significant jump in longer stories from 2015 to 2017.
The number of stories with a word count between 10,000-14,999 went from 2 in 2011 to a peak of 458 in 2014. Similarly, the 15,000-19,999 range saw an increase from 0 stories in 2011 to its peak at 253 in 2015. As we progress through the word count brackets, there's a discernible growth trend, albeit with some fluctuations. For instance, the 80,000-89,999 bracket jumped from 0 stories in 2011 to a peak of 48 stories in 2023.
While there have been fluctuations in the numbers for some years, the overall trend does show growth in the publication of longer stories over the past decade.
The data shows that extremely long stories (those above 200,000 words) have always been a rarity. However, there's still a perceptible trend.
The 200,000-249,999 word count range sees the most action, with a peak of 27 stories in 2023. This is growth from the previous years 17, and then to 14, and so on. The numbers decrease as we progress to the right into the higher word counts, but occasional stories reach these impressive lengths.
The 250,000-299,999 word count range has peaked at 6, with numbers generally dropping with previous years. Higher word count ranges, such as 300,000-349,999 and 350,000-399,999, are sparser but maintain a presence.
Word counts of 450,000 and beyond are sparse, with very few recent entries.
In conclusion, while very lengthy stories remain uncommon, they exist and have seen publication in varying numbers. There's a trend towards fewer stories as the word count increases, which is expected given the monumental length of these works.
Upon examination of the data, there's a pronounced resurgence in the publication of longer narratives, particularly following a noticeable decline post-2016. The trajectory of this resurgence hints at an evolving literary landscape, with authors and perhaps readers veering towards more extensive works. Although the factors underpinning this shift remain speculative, the upward trend, especially in the realm of extended narratives, cannot be dismissed.
Monitoring developments in this sphere to ascertain whether this resurgence signifies a phase or a deeper, more sustained transformation in literary predilections will be interesting.

Hey Sam, do you remember how long it took for your student loan discharge to show up on your credit report? It's been eight months and my loans are still on my credit report and I can't get Mohela to answer me about when they'll report it. I submitted a complaint to the DoE a few weeks ago, but who knows when I'll hear back. I guess I was just wondering if this type of delay is out of the ordinary.
Oh, man, it never even crossed my mind to look. My credit score was hovering around 800 when I began the loan discharge process and is now in the 810 range, so I never bothered to check. I had to go log into CreditKarma just now to see.
I think this must be backdated, but according to TransUnion, my loans were closed in September 2020. The reason this must be backdated is that my forgiveness wasn't finalized and approved until April of 2021. Like my balance didn't zero out until 2021, but the paperwork went into the system in September 2020, so presumably the closure was retroactive to that. I don't think any closed loan falls off for several years, but I don't know how they handle an open loan that you have actually discharged. I don't know what kind of delay is normal (I may have even had one myself and just not noticed).
As far as I know carrying a student loan balance doesn't have a huge impact on your credit score as long as they're not reporting you in arrears/late, so hopefully it's not killing your credit somehow. You might consider sending a registered letter to the bureaus, disputing the error; they may be able to shake that information loose from the loan administrators. In any case, good luck with it!
Readers, if you have advice please do share! Remember to comment or reblog, as I don't post asks sent in response to other asks.

SAG-AFTRA Critical Role TLOVM and M9 Season Listings -- renewal confirmed?
So COMIC BOOK .com posted this article about season 3 of TLOVM being renewed, and then said Sag-Aftra listed seasons 4 and 5. After searching on the SAG-AFTRA website I found the listings:
So seasons 1&2 (batch production no doubt), then seasons 3, 4 and 5. And then Mighty Nein seasons 1 and 2 are listed here as well.
I will say I think it's odd that these are all listed as 2020 --- they could very well be pre-emptive registrations of production interest, and not a true renewal of the seasons. However, the majority of Robin Red Breast's (RRB is a subsidary of Titmouse. I believe RRB is unionised unlike other parts of Titmouse) shows are listed as 2020. I don't know if Titmouse decided to register everything planned for the future in 2020, or if this is just some sort of error, or if the seasons were backdated to 2020.
The potential implication that Mighty Nein was confirmed in 2020 is interesting, though.
However I do see 'pilots' listed, with no follow up season. If it was just interest, surely there'd be more seasons planned that didn't go into production?
So yeah. To be clear this is not a confirmed renewal. But it is interesting.
(Also it is good to know this is a SAG-AFTRA production. I think the theory was that it was Animation Guild. But it is SAG. I don't think 'High Budget New Media Animation Agreement' is a contract that was struck though.)
#and to be clear yes the article inspired me but the mighty nein listings was something i found on my own so ur welcome#critical role#vox machina#tlovm#mighty nein#basically me arguing against the article that this means anything lol

Explicit Hermitcraft fic, throughout the years
In July 2022, I set out to collect some data, hoping to figure out when explicit Hermitcraft fics really started to take off. I had heard stories of how people were against anything that didn't fit into the neat bounds of canon, which included shipping, among other things.
This made me curious though. When did it start getting posted? Where has it taken us? ...is there really a disproportionate amount of Omegaverse fics? Well, TL;DR... January 2019, over 1,400 fics being posted, and no.
However, I hope you stick around a bit longer! My analysis of the graph I made is posted below. The blank version, plus the text from the analysis, is under the cut.
This version of the graph includes everything from January 2019 – April 2023. Fics may've been counted twice, due to collecting two batches of data (one in July 2022, and another at the end of April 2023)
Funnily enough, the third fic posted to the Hermitcraft tag is explicit, and the first three are all shippy. (And yes, I checked to see if the works were backdated, which they're not! The first Hermitcraft fic was actually posted in 2015)
Since July '22, there's been a decrease in the percentage of explicit fics! Just one percent, sure, but it really shows just how popular Hermitcraft is as a whole. There were 8.9k fics back then, only 920 of those being explicit. Now there's over 15k, and 1.4k explicit fics! That's over 6,000 fics added since July '22! Not to mention all the ones that may've been deleted, which appears to be over 40 in total.
Finally, I'd like to point out the obvious: between a season start and end, there's a massive jump in explicit fics being posted. And subsequently, when the season ends, or a new series begins (like the Life Series), there's a substantial dip in fics being posted to the tag.
Now that the important stuff is out of the way, feel free to look below the cut if you'd like, for the text from the image + the blank version of the chart.
Notes:
There are roughly 1,400 explicit, and 15,000 total fics at this point (This means there’s around 13,600 non-explicit fics. Alternatively, about 9.3% of fics are explicit – a 1% decrease since July ‘22)
Due to the fact that this data was gathered both during July ‘22 and April ’23, there may be some discrepancies (At least 40 fics have been removed since July ‘22. Since fics may’ve been counted twice, this number is likely more)
The shipping war was from 2019 to 2020* (*Unknown end date)
January 2019: Half a year (about 6 months) after the start of Hermitcraft S6
June 2019: 3 Grumbo fics are posted, likely due to Grian and Mumbo’s popularity (According to archive.org, Mumbo and Grian were at 2.7M subscribers at the start of 2019… and only grew from there)
March 2020: Start of Hermitcraft S7… and then the pandemic hit, and lockdown started
April 2021: 3rd life started, and Flower Husbands helped normalize shipping
June 2021: Start of Hermitcraft S8
September 2021: Last life started
October 2021: Kinktober (69 fics… nice)
December 2021: End of Season 8 (The dip is probably due to no videos on Hermitcraft)
March 2022: Start of Hermitcraft S9
June 2022: Double life started
March 2023: Limited life started
[Image ID: a chart, spanning from January 2019, to April 2023, regarding explicit fanfiction for Hermitcraft. The main growth periods are from March 2020 to March 2021, October 2021, and from March 2022 to January 2023. /End ID]

@akilah12902 and I are working on the Alex Rider (TV) metaseason timeline. The prop department seems to have gone rogue and there's a ton of inconsistencies happening in season 2 so we're having to decide what to keep and what to throw out.
Here's some of my notes:
Season 1 definitely happens in the last 3 weeks of the spring term, and it ends on the Monday before Easter.
For the year I did some guesswork work based on cherry blossom season and what date Easter falls on and 2019 and 2020 were both candidates, but 2021 is out due to peak cherry blossom bloom being only 6 days before Easter.
I also feel confident saying that Season 2 takes place largely in November of 2020 even tho there's a prop at the end of the season given to Jack that says her guardianship begins in April, 2021 (which would be 6 months later).
If we ignore the cherry blossom season/Easter inconsistency and put season 1 in 2021 then we could assume that the prop is backdated (to shortly after Ian's death), putting season 2 in November 2021.
By the way, the main problem with dating season 2 is because of wild inconsistency between the establishing shots and the shots with actors in them. Establishing shots all have green trees implying spring or summer, but in actual scenes trees are all bare and the actors are all wearing jackets, implying autumn. To make things even more confusing, the view from Tom's camera has trees covered in yellow leaves. There are also a couple of recycled shots of the front of Ian's house with the cherry tree in bloom out front that I am ignoring.
The timeline for Season 3 is insane and I'll have to get back to you on this one but we do know it takes place when Alex is 17 because of all the references to John's death being 17 years ago and Julia explicitly telling Alex that he was 6 months old when the hostage exchange took place (We're assuming that Julia isn't lying about anything that happened except by omission).
Jack's prop at the end of season 2 also gives Alex's birth date as Feb 13, 2005, which would mean that the hostage exchange took place in August of 2005 and season 3 takes place at some point in 2022. But again, the props department may have gone rogue.
I need to rewatch the second half of season 3 before I put down a definitive date for that part of the show.

Oh goddamn it, props department.
So maybe it could be April in the context of this season specifically: The first episode mentioned half-term (so let's go on holiday in Cornwall), which would happen around mid-February, and according to a friend it could easily take up to six weeks for Ed Pleasance to be moved to long term care.
Did season 1 take place in 2020? Because it also REALLY does not seem like a whole year has passed (Alex talking about his PTSD hallucinations to Dr. Lambert does NOT seem like a conversation they would be having a whole goddang YEAR into therapy, and if he hasn't had any contact with MI6 post end of S1, it can't be that he only just started with her recently, because how did MI6 recommend her—), and given the setting in spring in season 1 and the mention of end of term dance (and end of spring term is around Easter, which is usually IN APRIL), unless there's been a whole year between seasons (which again really doesn't feel like it's that long) then it would not be possible to have all the events of season 1 and season 2 during this time period.
Was Alex supposed to be 14 in season 1 (if for some reason it had been a year)? He just. Does not look 14. Although this does potentially fit with one point where a teacher gestures after Tom while saying the year 10s (ages 14-15) are in charge of the dance, as opposed to my original assumption that he was 16.
MAYBE they just backdated this to Ian's death, that would at least put things in a vaguely correct place, though that makes Alex 15 during these seasons (maybe he's just 15).
Anyway s2 is kinda a lot worse with where the heck it is in time guys

It's so funny that I forgot to file taxes in 2023 and instead of auditing me about that, the IRS is straight-up lying, inflating my 2021 income, and trying to scam me into paying $2K backdated state income tax, when I was unemployed in 2021, a fact I can easily corroborate with my letters from the state of Illinois approving unemployment benefits. Do you think I'm fucking stupid, or an incompetent bookkeeper, or bureaucratically illiterate, or scared of the law, or too busy to take the train to the IRS office in the Loop and go "You're Wrong, bucko"??? I do not have two thousand dollars in any case, due to, I have not had a salaried job since June 2020. Every day the US government tries to trick me out of money and welfare that is rightly mine. Stop That. My primary caretakers were tempered by the steelworks of Soviet bureaucracy. I will Crush you

Now I've discovered the ability to change a fanfictions date, I wonder. In 2021 I uploaded a fanfiction I wrote in 2020, I didn't feel comfortable uploading it as the date I had finished it considering it would be buried under a years worth of fics. I set the upload date as the current date. But now it's a year later, and i feel like I could change the date to 2020 to be more accurate to when it was written, considering the difference between a year or two isn't that bad and idm not having my fic seen again... Is it a good idea or is fucking with dates a hell no

Fucking with dates to try to get more eyeballs on your work is obnoxious.
Backdating to be more accurate is fine.

On that note, can you imagine how INSANE the media circus would be if it did come out publicly that Chuck and Blair illegally backdated their marriage certificate and the case against them was actually re-opened? Especially in 2023, at a time when anti-billionaire “eat the rich” sentiment has become very mainstream, and true crime is one of the most popular and profitable genres of entertainment?
Like, the events of season six happen so fast that we don’t really get to appreciate just how wild they are from the outside looking in. Imagine if Michael Bloomberg or pre-presidency Donald Trump died in a car crash, and their then-teenage progeny took over their real estate empires. Everyone just gets used to the idea of a little boy real estate mogul, I guess, and a few years pass, and then - surprise! They were faking their death all along!! Yes there was a funeral, yes they were legally declared dead, but who cares! They’re back baby, and ready to go back to being the same shitbags they were before!
Except, a mere handful of months later, they’re dead again - this time having gone careening off the side of one of their company’s most famous buildings (imagine if Donald Trump died falling off of Trump Tower lmaoooo). Did they fake it again? Was it foul play? By the time rumors start to swirl of the alleged involvement of their recently deposed nepotism baby, the cops close the case and rule it an accident. Their heir, still barely an adult, retakes the reigns of leadership - newly married, a detail no one realizes is suspicious because they likely have no idea that the spouse was at the scene of the crime.
Years pass. YouTubers and online conspiracy theorists periodically bring up the case, but the public at large once again more or less accepts the public narrative. Another piece of shit real-estate mogul gets elected president, and the attitude of the general public towards the uber wealthy turns increasingly hostile. Then there’s 2020, and 2021, and 2022, and- And then. “Billionaire boy and family linked to father’s mysterious death after discovery of faked marriage license”.
Even though we, the audience, knows Chuck didn’t actually kill his father, do you think in a world where this was an actual case involving actual public figures anyone would believe that? The coverup is so ridiculously suspicious that the general public almost definitely assumes they really did do the crime.
And consider the players in this case - a terrible billionaire who died a deliciously ironic death, his somehow worse son who in a post-#MeToo world is already a PR nightmare waiting to happen, and the ex-princess of Monaco (?!) who just so happens to already be tabloid fodder. If they get especially unlucky, Dan (a pretty famous novelist, at least according to the reboot), Serena (a 2000s era “it girl” and semi-celebrity), and Nate (an ex-NYC mayoral candidate, media mogul, and in universe Kennedy equivalent) might just find themselves implicated too - or at least forced to testify - given they were at the very much in public wedding where any rando could have snapped a picture.
There is just soooo much fucked up entertainment value in a case like this I can’t imagine it being anything less than a public fucking spectacle, and not the kind Chuck or Blair could just shake off. I genuinely do not know how they could absolve themselves in the court of public opinion if it actually went to trial, even if they managed to prevail legally.
Oh my god. Okay well, first of all, I really want the fake Serial podcast that unpacks all of this lol. Someone should make that lmao.
"little boy real estate mogul" took me out lololololol
also like...faking your death is a crime right??? how was Bart just able to re-enter society so easily??? did they ever say???
i'd also like to point out that it's actually much vaguer whether or not Chuck killed his father. They cut away during their fight and then next thing you see is Bart hanging onto the edge. Chuck himself says that he isn't sure whether or not he pushed him or Bart fell over. but also Chuck and Blair both just stood there and did nothing to help Bart before he fell, which is involuntary manslaughter I believe
But seriously though, you're so right anon that all of this was made for true crime. In 2030, someone makes a "Jinx" style doc about Chuck I bet

I like how a bunch of my works has author's notes on a bunch of contest entries that's pretty much begging people to comment if they're interested in seeing it continues that's been up for years and I never had one person say, "yes, please continue." It was kinder for me to think that the hits were all just people hitting back from seeing how shit the art/dialogue/whatever are, or the impersonal online scrapes hitting whatever works they find.
But then I get shit like two(three maybe) people leaving kudos on an obviously broken/fucked work and I'm "why. do you think you're doing me favors by ignoring the hurting, seething person or it was never me at all. it's just spark man made a funny face once and that's 'kudos' worthy"
Like, yeah, I can be happy that for the first time someone left a few comments that seemed to genuinely love my past works, one in particular I never expected to get anything, much less have someone else 'get' it, to have finally have someone put it in their bookmarks, in public and not hide away in their private because they feel it doesn't fit their public aesthetic, or it's their guilty pleasure or they're secretly dissing it in private (apparently that's what some people do with private bookmarks. I'm almost sure that's what happened with my Yuletide gift augh). Like, someone put it in their bookmarks! Publicly! Because they said it touched their heart! I can be happy about those.
But still feel angry and resentful because nothing has fundamentally changed, has it. It's telling that the only person who ever told they wanted to see more of something I posted was 1) from a completed work/scenario 2)that I didn't even tag them. I didn't even know they were on ao3. how the fuck did they find a backdated 2020 work so quickly 3)they didn't even fucking a stupidass like. No they left a stupidass kudos on unrelated work I posted at the same time that had nothing to do with them. Like of all the works I made...the joke concept sketch gets your precious kudos? fuck. Also, she said only "a part" of her wants to the whole story. A fucking part. Not even just "it would be nice to see more". Well, I can't fault her for not being exact in her opinion of my stuff. Which is half-hearted.
I've just been holding this for months. Years. Yes, I was and am still happy for the comments and kudos and unashamed bookmarks but it still fucking hurts.
Archive of my own failures. Fuck.
Yes, I've considered many, many times that I'm just a bad writer. Nobody has to read whatever dumb shit I put up. I'm just fucking angry that really, "bringing out???" If anything that deserved 0 hits/views/kudos, it's that shit.
