Hi, if you're a millionaire (or more) I think you ethically owe it to society to show up at community sporting activities in full kit but be absolutely mid-at-best in everything.
Show up to the pick-up game in FULL (I mean full) Ronaldo/Messi/Jordan/LeBron/Mahomes/Ovechkin/whoever kit, top of the line everything, and be absolute trash. Or ride Tour de France level gear down the local bike path really poorly and get mad when the amateurs and hobbyists pass you. Float your yachted kayak down the river in peak gear but never catch a single fish... Try to lie about it.
Anyone can be goated at something and show up in an old man disguise, I want the old man to show up in the goated disguise and be a disappointment. This is what you can do for society. I mean, pay to fix nets, salt the winter trails, put up night play lights, fund a community garden, whatever, yeah, that's all great, get an article about it, but there is nothing more community bonding and personally satisfying than feeling your hard work and training outplay the money.

Blue hair, blue eyes, blue lights
Jinx x fem!reader / modern AU
summary: The chances of a blue-haired girl being chased by the cops and hopping in my car, simply yelling “Drive!” are low, but never zero.
author’s note: It’s my first time publishing a Jinx one-shot of mine, I hope you enjoy! This is a relatively new blog, so if anyone wants to become mutuals I’m definitely open to the idea! :)

Fourteen days.
A mere two weeks stand between me and move-in day for my freshman year of college. In other words, summer break is slowly coming to an end, and I’ve done fuck all to make it memorable.
I can feel life passing me by as I watch like a bystander. Usually, the clock is my enemy—a constant reminder of my youth running out, and, shit, I’m too young to feel that way. This time, it serves as a way to free me from the shackles of the evening shift as a front desk worker at our local gym.
The clock strikes midnight, and, like a modern-day Cinderella, I jump up from my seat and make a beeline for the exit, hurriedly clocking out. I simultaneously greet and say goodbye to the night shift going in, already halfway through the small yet relatively empty parking lot. The smell of sweaty ‘gym bros’ is long forgotten as the breeze engulfs me, my dirty sneakers thudding on the concrete. The rust on my beat-up jeep shines in the moonlight as I approach—so seductive, I snicker to myself. I toss my duffel bag in the trunk, hop behind the wheel, and start the engine. I take this moment to commence my connect-phone-to-car-or-die-trying mission and thank the universe for its successful outcome. I browse a bit through the plethora of playlists before settling on the usual one, the sound of Arctic Monkeys filling the space as I leave the parking lot.
I don’t want to go home—not yet, at least—so I settle for a late-night drive. The cookie-cutter, upper-class houses pass me by as I mindlessly cruise through the clean streets—a stark contrast to my neighborhood, where you either learn to stick up for yourself or go home crying to your mama. A place where there is more sewage sludge than trees. A place where I grew up and one I learned to love.
In the midst of it all, I don’t notice the particularly nasty bump on the road that makes my song abruptly cut off. I take a right, pulling over in an alley with an annoyed groan as I resort to phase two, also known as connect-phone-back-to-car-before-I-impulsively-crash, of my initial mission. As I fiddle with the settings, showing my inner cheek no mercy as my teeth dig into their feast, a hissing and spritzing sound comes through my open window.
I think I’m imagining things at first, that post-shift fatigue surely getting the best of me, but I spot the source of the sound rather quickly: a figure, hidden almost out of sight between the fancy houses, switching between various colors of spray paint as she defaces the picture-perfect facade with her graffiti. The sheer speed of her actions makes it look like she’s juggling.
How do I know it’s a girl? Well, although she is wearing a hat to shield her face from any surveillance cameras, a neck warmer up to her nose, and a black, oversized tracksuit already covered in pink paint splotches, her disguise was blown the moment she decided to leave her blue, ankle-length, twin braids out. I twist my neck and reach over the dashboard to try and get a better look at her work. I can barely make out the shape of a green monkey’s face before moving on to the next element. ‘Get ji-’
My reading is interrupted by the sound of sirens piercing the air and blue lights illuminating the area. Instinctively, I turn my headlights off and duck, watching the girl as she hastily packs the cans into her backpack. I swear I can see her eyes twinkle with excitement as she takes one last glance at her—presumably—finished artwork and takes off running through the gardens. Her faint giggle reaches my ears, and a bewildered smile graces my features. I wanted fun, and now it’s right in front of me. I definitely couldn’t get a clearer sign than this.
I observe as one of the cops chases after her as the other drives away, seemingly trying to cut her off. Lightbulb moment. I put the car into gear and waste no time following them from the comfort of the dark alleys, reaching the mysterious girl first through the shortcuts. I catch her contemplating her next move and, without hesitation, quickly flash my high beams at her twice. This seems to grab her attention, and I signal for her to get in with a simple nod, tapping the car door as confirmation.
To my surprise, she actually runs over and hops in the backseat, her back lying flat as she takes a swift peek through the window, and holy shit, I didn’t think that she actually would.
“Drive!” she yells through her panting, and I do. I feel my heart beating wildly against my ribcage as the blue lights appear once again in my rearview mirror. Don’t fuck this up, I think before taking a sharp left. I hear her elated squeals as I visualize the district’s roads and plan the perfect getaway.
Right.
Right, once again.
Left.
Straight down the street.
Sharp right.
I can hear the sirens getting closer as I speed through the familiar routes. It doesn’t matter that I know this area like the back of my hand; the cops probably do, too. There is only one thing left to try, and, albeit risky, it should work. They hadn’t spotted my car yet, and we were quickly approaching a busy intersection—the perfect distraction.
The tires squeak as I harshly pull into an empty driveway, turning the engine off in hopes of blending in.
“What the hell are you doing?!” the blue-haired girl grumbles with brooding eyes. I don’t reply. Instead, I shush her as I grab her waist and roll her off the seat, pushing her into the legroom before ducking underneath the steering wheel. We fall silent, holding our breaths in as the police car passes us by. I watch as they get lost in the dense traffic, a sigh of relief escaping me as I throw my head back. I climb into my seat again and take a peek at the tagger in the back, confusion crossing my features as I watch her stuff her face with candy. My candy. “Hefty stash you got back there.” Her mouth twists at the sour taste of a Warhead she picked. She seems completely unfazed by this whole situation.
I notice that she had discarded her hat and neck warmer and take the opportunity to get a better look at her: blue eyes matching her hair, light freckles splattered across her straight nose and rosy cheeks, pouty lips, her dark and expressive brows… She truly is breathtaking. I feel a blush creep up my face as she climbs over the console, wiggling her way into the passenger seat. She takes her hoodie off, revealing her black tank top, and fuck me, she has tattoos.
She faces me with a curious look herself, seemingly analyzing me too. Her gaze is difficult to decipher as her eyes trail over my figure, and I stiffen. She shoots me a knowing smile before throwing her hands around my neck and placing a kiss on my cheek. “You’re a lifesaver, toots,” she muses into my ear. The pleasant smell of paint and bubble gum hits my nose making me lick my lips. “Name’s Jinx, by the way. Stands for Jinx,” she cackles to herself, drawing her lower lip between her teeth awaiting my introduction.
I blink a couple of times, realizing how silent I’ve been throughout this whole ordeal. I can get awkward, sure, but I’m not timid, so I muster up the courage and consciously relax, trying to project a nonchalant attitude. “I’m Y/N.” I shoot her a smile of my own.
“Y/N. Hmm…” Jinx gives an approving hum as she repeats after me, my name rolling off her tongue like honey. “What made you help little ol’ me?” New observation: she’s a teaser.
“I need some excitement in my life,” I answer truthfully and she perks up with a spark in her eyes.
“Toots, you’ve just made friends with the perfect candidate to help you with that.” Her giddy attitude returns as she beams at me.
“We’re friends, huh?” I tease at her choice of words, my eyebrows raised in a cocky manner.
“Sure we are! I feel like running from the cops together is the perfect bonding experience, don’t ya?” She gives me a once-over before her mouth curves into a smirk. “Unless you want to be more than friends. That could work, too.” She winks. Her straightforwardness should make me turn crimson, but instead, it makes my confidence grow. I give a low chuckle as I shake my head in disbelief.
“Tell you what,” I begin, starting the engine and trying to connect my phone back to the car for the third time already, “let me get you home safely, and we’ll see what tomorrow brings to our friendship. Deal?” I extend my hand toward her, and she ponders my proposition. I can practically see the cogs turning in her head, her facial expressions jumping from sour to doubtful, as if she were battling her thoughts before settling on a satisfied grin.
Her soft hand reaches mine in a princess handshake, and I try not to look at her manicured nails for too long. “Deal.” The blue-haired girl snatches the phone out of my hands, adding her number to my contact list and sending a quick text to herself. Just when I think she’s giving it back, she picks a song, and I hear Arabella playing through the speakers. How fitting.
As I leave the stranger’s driveway, I sense her shuffling in the passenger seat, throwing her legs out the window. She puts her head on my lap freely, toying with the colorful charms on my keychain. In the spur of the moment, I gingerly brush her bangs behind her ear, revealing her side profile. Her gaze catches mine, and I see her eyes soften before I turn mine on the road again.
Jinx tells me her address, and I realize how close to me she lives—the perfect circumstances. I feel her lightly bobbing her head to the music as her left cheek strokes my thigh, her fingers tracing mine as they sit on the gear stick. Her demeanor feels different from the badass tagger who willingly hopped in a stranger’s car. She looks peaceful and content now.
My shoulders slump in disappointment as I park outside her house. She clicks her tongue and lazily lifts her head from the comfort of my lap. She looks around the empty streets of her neighborhood and hums, her curious eyes now shifting to mine. As we take each other in, I can’t help but gravitate toward her—her presence feels almost intoxicating, and I don’t want to part ways just yet. To my surprise, she copies my actions. She’s so close I can feel her minty breath mingle with mine. Instinctively, my gaze drops to her lips as she tentatively licks them. I let out a faint sigh, and she slowly closes the distance. I can hear my heartbeat as I wait for our lips to meet.
But they never do. “I don’t kiss on a first date,” she murmurs in my ear, and my face flushes. Jinx pulls away as she flashes me a toothy grin, and before I can even react, she’s already skipping to her front door, slinging her backpack over her shoulder. Wha-? When did she grab her stuff? I stare in disbelief as she turns around, her braids flailing behind her. “Let’s see what tomorrow brings,” she teases and blows me a kiss before disappearing into the dark hallway of her home.
Fourteen days.
Give me two weeks to make her mine.

KEEPSAKE 2:: ( na jaemin )
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
WARNING:: marking, oral (m & f), fingering, slight rejection, teasing, sexual tension, dirty talk, cum eating, unprotected sex, choking, 80's au!
SUMMARY:: after a harsh rejection Jaemin wants to prove that he is completely over his ex.
WORD COUNT:: 9.5K
Tumblr media
It had officially been around 2 weeks since you went on that date with Jaemin, and ever since he's been sending you flowers to your doorstep, ignoring any other girl in his line of sight when you're around, calling you at the end of his shift at the movie theater telling you about his day and asking about yours.
You could tell Jaem was desperate for a second date, and at first you weren't convinced he truly had the intention of going on a well spent date and he just wanted sex, but when the date offers became less and less intimate and sounding more fun you caved.
Just the night before he called you at the same time asking about your day and if you were free the next day. It felt like a scene in sixteen candles, sitting on your bed with your desk lamp twirling the yellow cord to your landline that sat beside your bed on your finger as he talked. You couldn't break the small smile as you hear him stutter over his words to ask you if you would go out with him on a date.
"Better than last time. I promise" he said, and that's when you knew he was serious. He humbled himself after you gave him your panties on your doorstep and sent him off in his shiny red car back home deflated by the slight rejection. He really wanted to be clear that not one girl in town had his attention like you did. Not Chae, or Nari, or Hae-eun. None of them can hold a candle to you.
Something about you just screamed you were different than any other girl he's been with, any other girl would be calling him back for a second date but instead he's the one calling and chasing after you like a lost puppy. And when you finally accepted his offer he almost jumped with joy as he told you with the biggest lopsided smile that he'd pick you up at 7 after his shift and hung up the phone too giddy to even continue a conversation.
When you hear the doorbell ring you give yourself the final touches, straightening out your skirt and checking your makeup, you make it to your front door with a grin as you open the door to greet the tall silver haired boy who held a bouquet of flowers wrapped in cellophane.
"I got you flowers, I didn't know what your favorite kind were so I just got what reminded me of you" he says as he smiles handing them over to you. Your grin grew wide as you looked down at them "you're already taking me on a date, you didn't have to get me flowers Na" you say teasingly as you press the flowers to your nose taking in the smell.
"I like them" you say as you place in a vase that had been sitting in your foyer along with other flowers your mom most likely set out and watered every morning. "If you're ready we can head over to the carnival, I'm pretty sure at this time it's more lively" he says with a smile holding out his hand to you gently.
Taking it you felt how soft yet sweaty his palm was. You could only assume he was nervous, this was his second chance to get to know you better than your last date which was an absolute shit show to say the least. Guiding you to the passenger side door he opens the door and waits until you're seated perfectly in his leather seats before he closes the door.
Putting on your seatbelt you could hear the faint sound of music playing which makes you hum along to the upbeat song. The yellow and orange tones of the sun as it was beginning to set makes you feel warm as you look out the window into your neighborhood as he pulls out of your gravel driveway and onto the streets into the direction of the carnival.
"I feel like on our last date I didn't let you talk enough... so I'll give you the floor" he says with a small grin, eyes flickering from the road to you. "Well isn't that just the sweetest thing?" You tease him with a small laugh earning a chuckle out of him.
On the way there you and Jaemin kept the conversation going, you both talked about your taste in music and even fought over which songs on the radio were bad and laughed about how Jaemin had caught two kids in the movie theater after hours while he was cleaning up and was scared half to death. The car ride was so chaotic that Jaemin almost drove past the entrance to get in. And when you made it to the parking lot of a packed Carnival you knew this date would be fun.
The both of you get out of the car and walk into the crowds of people, keeping close you could feel Jaemin's large hand on your lower back as the both of you point and look around for things you want to do.
"How about we get on a rollercoaster first do we know what we're dealing with yeah?" He asks as he tears his eyes from the large ride that was spinning and carrying kids of all ages screaming their heads off. "Yeah, that sounds like fun" you smile up at him, pointing in the direction of the big ride.
"You wanna get on this ride? I mean if you're scared or anything we can get on something else" he says as you both walk closer "I'm sure" you nod with a smile on your lips watching as kids spill from the exit gate looking pale and sick.
"Really? Like you're 100% sure?" He asks, his voice going up in pitch making you laugh "Jaem if you're scared to ride it then you don't have to get on it with me" you said laughing it up.
He scoffs as he straightens his posture "I'm not a kid y/n I can handle some stupid 5-minute ride that spins" he rolls his eyes dramatically making you smile "if you say so. But if you throw up on this ride I think we can get on the kiddy rides" you say with a big smile that has your eyes almost closing which has his heart fluttering.
"Whatever. But just know, I won't because I'm a man and I can handle a stupid ride" he says once again making you shake your head as the ride conductor opens the gate letting people on the ride and taking their tickets.
And as the two of you got on you see that only a few spots were left the both of you right beside each other as you press your backs to the cold rusting metal you push the bar below your waist close and grip onto the handles. "Is this safe? I mean there are no straps or anything" he says from beside you as he grips the metal bars that seemed to be chipping away.
"We'll be moving too fast to even move Jaem. Besides they have a bar holding down our waists, we're gonna be fine. And- if you want you can hold my hand until it's over" you say as you watch the worker close the gate to the ride taking the safety precautions before going into the control booth.
"I'm only taking your hand because you'll probably be scared. I don't need to hold your hand like a kid" he says scoffing as he repeatedly tries to put up a brave front while he is practically screaming from the inside. His large hand grips yours over the bar, turning his head to see you already looking at him with a fond smile.
"What?" He asks with a soft smile "you're scared" you coo making his jaw slack as he's ready to defend himself which makes you smile even wider as the dramatic and intense music of the ride plays and small lights flash. "It's about to start! Aren't you excited?!" You ask almost jumping with joy to see the nauseous look on his face.
"Sure" he nods as he closes his eyes and lets his head fall back. He was stressed out and the ride hadn't even moved yet. His grip on your hand becomes tighter once he feels the ride begin to slowly move and he can hear the old gears and screws sputter. "Oh god" he whispers to himself.
He feels his heart flip at the sound of your screaming and laughing, and when he opens his eyes he can't help but smile and laugh at your wide eyes while the wind blows your hair wildly the yellow bright lights from the carnival rides around you lighting up your face. He laughs as he sees your head toss back in sheer delight, he realized the ride wasn't so bad after all.
And when it was over he was dizzy and lovesick. And as the both of you walk out of the small exit gate you stop eyeing all of the stands and trucks with food and games. "Why don't we get some cotton candy? Play a few games and then get something to eat before we go?" Ge asks, looking down at you.
Nodding at his proposal you look up at him "I heard fair cotton candy tastes like a cavity waiting to happen" you laugh as you think about the time your mom told you she hated the taste of cotton candy. "What?! Who said that? Because cotton candy tastes the best when it's from a fair" he explains in shock.
"My mom. She doesn't like it so I just never ate it because I assumed it was gross" you scrunch your nose making his eyes widen at your words. "Oh, you're serious?!" He asks as he looks around for the cotton candy stand.
"You've never gotten cotton candy? Like ever in your life?" He asks in utter shock. "No, never. What's so wrong with that?!" You laugh at him who was completely mind blown at the little fact he just learned about you. "You're just missing out is all I'm saying" he shrugs holding his hands up which makes you laugh harder.
"Okay... so why don't you give me the first-time experience of eating cotton candy" you smile up at him. "It's gonna blow your mind I swear," he says while he grabs your hand softly and unconsciously as he pulls you along the crowd of kids, teens, and parents who're most likely emptying their pockets on food and games.
As the both of you near a man dressed obnoxiously you clench your hand in Jaemin’s as you cringe. "Do you want pink or blue?" He asks quietly as the both of you near the man working the machine with a pack of long white paper sticks in hand.
"What do you usually get?" You ask, looking at the man before flickering your eyes to Jaemin. "I mean I get blue, it tastes really good" he nods as he pulls his wallet out of his back pocket seemingly dropping your hand to your dismay. "Then I'll get blue" you nod watching as he pulls a crisp $5 out of his wallet.
"Cool," he says as he walks to the man politely asking for two sticks of blue cotton candy. You stand back in awe as he laughs at the man's words you can't seem to catch. But when he nods his head towards you, you can't help but feel a tinge in your stomach.
"Is that your girlfriend over there waiting for you?" The man asks as he swivels the paper cone around the spun sugar forming into a neat ball of fluff in a pastel blue color. "Ah, no. We're here on a date. And I'm hoping that if it goes well I'll eventually get to ask her to be" he explains with a bittersweet smile. "I remember when I was young and I asked my wife on dates like these" he sighs as he reminisced.
"How long have you been married?" He asks with raised brows "20 years, but we've been together for 28" he nods as he hands off the come to his going to make another one. "That's cool" he smiled as he can imagine the couple being his age walking around like him and you.
"Here you are! I hope your date goes well" he smiled at Jaemin, making him nod as he handed off his money and turned on his heel to see you looking at him with narrow eyes. As he comes closer he sees you reach your hand out to him making him smile, you genuinely seemed excited to eat.
Handing you the sweet confection he could see the way your eyes sparkled "let's go sit down and eat these before we go running around yeah?" He looks at you. "Mhm," you hum as you look for a nearby vacant bench.
And as the both of you sit down you eye the cotton candy suspiciously and then look over at Jaemin who had paused to watch your reaction. "Well? Why are you just looking at it?" He laughed, "try it. I promise it's not gonna bite you," he says, shaking his head with a huge smile.
"What if I don't like it?" You ask with a small pout "then we'll throw it away" he answers with a shrug "but then that would have been a waste of money" you answer back making him sigh. "It's not about the money y/n it's about the experience. And if you don't like it we'll throw it away, or I can eat it" he reasons with you. "Okay" you mumbled as you sniffed the candy, almost surprised at how sweet it smelled.
Excitedly you take a small bite out of it and in almost an instant you feel it dissolve making you hum and chew before swallowing it. "Did you like it?" He asks tilting his head to meet your gaze, only to see your pupils were blown out and a small smile on your face. "I love it" you whisper which makes him chuckle.
You look like a kid whose parents bought them their favorite ice cream. "I knew you would," he says fondly as he takes a bite out of his. As the both of you talk and look amongst the crowd you see 2 kids smiling and laughing and you couldn't help but smile at the sight.
"What are you smiling about?" He asks looking around to see if anything, in particular, would catch his eye. "Those two kids. Over there, they're so cute" you point over at the two twin boys as they stood in front of the fish bowl game tossing rings hoping they could get a pet fish.
"Really? You like kids?" He asks his smile softly as he learns another thing about you "I wouldn't say I like them, I just sometimes enjoy how adorable they can be" you shrug pretending that you had no idea what he was talking about. "Yeah?" He asks as his eyes flicker between you and the young boys.
"Yeah," you say back, and out of the corner of your eye you watch him stand up from the bench which makes your brows shoot up "what are you doing?" You ask with a nervous smile. "I'll be back, just stay here," he says, handing you his cone with only a bit of cotton candy left on it.
Your eyes follow him as he walks away, it wasn't until you saw him tap one of the boys asking if he could help them win a fish that you realized his plan. You were smiling so big as you saw the two boys celebrating the fact that Jaemin had tossed the last few rings making them on the rim of the bowls that contained fake plastic fish inside.
Smiling and celebrating with them, the small boys were practically shining as the guy running the stand gave a bag with a little orange fish inside that had the boys looking up at Jaemin smiling and thanking him. Only brushing them off with a smile and a "no problem" before walking back over to you and sitting back down.
"You're sweet" you mumbled to him as you bite off the last chunk you can on your cone and tossed it into the trash can next to the bench. "They needed help," he shrugged with a grin. "Whatever." You roll your eyes sarcastically "hurry up and finish so we can play that game with the water guns" you say practically bouncing to play the game.
And when he scarfs down the rest the both of you were almost skipping to get into the short line and play. "I bet that I can beat you no problem" Jaemin teased "what?! absolutely not. We had gym together our sophomore year and you sucked at dodgeball because your aim was shit" you scoffed making him open his mouth to defend himself but he couldn't.
"Okay, that's fair. How about the next game we play with the balloons and darts. Since your aim is so good how about we bet whoever wins gets what they want" he says sternly looking down at you. "Fine. If I win you have to buy me a cherry slushie" he nods "okay that's fine" he plays it cool with his words.
"And if you win?" You ask looking up at him curiously as to what he could be thinking of if he has to win. "If I win, I get a kiss" he teased, which makes you laugh and shake your head. The both of you saw how you were next in line and could see all the stuffed animals were hung up and you were eyeing the big pink teddy bear.
Jaemin caught whim of it as you both sat on the stools in front of the booth. The woman behind the booth smiles as she states the rules, counting down the both of you hearing the ring that urges you to start. And just as you presumed your aim was really good, hitting the target you saw the balloon over the top of it filling up with water.
Jaemin shouts as he struggles to aim the water where he needs, making you laugh as his balloon is barely filled with water. "If you want I can help you," you say loudly over the noises of people around you. "I can still win, I don't need your help" he sassed you which makes you giggle at his stubbornness.
When your balloon popped and a loud ringing sound to determine you had won made Jaemin laugh at how you shot out of your chair shouting in celebration. "I told you I'd win," you say as you pat his shoulders "whatever, I just let you win because you were so excited" he drags out his words as he rolls his eyes dramatically.
"Just admit you have shit aim, and I beat you fair and square," you say as you arch a brow at him he only shakes his head "we'll just have to see after this when I beat you at the next game," he says with a casual shrug only making you shake your head. You turn towards the woman at the stand smiling at your bickering.
"Choose whatever stuffed animal you want," she says as she points a wooden staff at the toys hung up along a small wire. "The big bunny" you smile as you point to it with shimmering eyes which makes Jaemin's brows furrow as he remembers you looking at the teddy bear.
The woman handing it off to you as Jaemin pays, you see him turn to look at you "I won you this" you hold it out for him to take wide eyes peering up at him for a reaction. "What? It's your prize, why don't you just keep it?" He asks, shaking his head "because it reminded me of you so I wanted to give it to you" you smile. Most girls remember guys when they win them stuffed animals, but you? You won Jaemin a stuffed animal and he'd cherish it with his whole heart.
"You didn't have to. I saw you looking at the teddy bear, so I thought you'd get it for yourself" he says as he gently takes the plushie from your hands holding it to his chest and squeezing it. "I felt bad, you've paid for everything we've done today. I just thought this was the least I could do" you say softly making him practically melt.
Everything about you made Jaemin feel fuzzy. How your eyes crinkle when you laugh, how you had birthmarks and moles littering your pretty skin, how you looked breathtaking underneath the colorful lights all over the place, even after you got on a ride your hair tousled and you didn't even bother to fix it because regardless you still looked good.
"Earth to Jaemin... are we gonna play the next game or not?" You laughed as you watched him sit in silence and stare blankly at you for a moment. "Yeah- yeah we can.. go now" he sputters over his words nodding as he pulls himself out of his small lovesick daze.
"You know, I've never played darts before so you might have an advantage over this game," you say as you both settle on walking towards the game that had been set up with balloons. "Don't forget our bet. If I win I get a kiss" he teased and you only roll your eyes "yeah and if I win I get a slushie" you say as you both walk to the wooden counter to set up Jaemin handing him 20 dollars.
"You just aim for the balloons and whoever pops the most or pops all the balloons before the other wins" which sounded easy to you. But when she had announced that the game had begun Jaemin lifted a dart up, aiming straight for a balloon and popping it. You watched and did the same only seeing as it had missed.
You both were giggling like kids forgetting completely about the stupid little bet the both of you had arranged. When you guys had gotten more darts you could feel frustration bubbling in your chest as you feel yourself becoming more competitive.
You hadn't realized how passive you began to toss the darts until you had seen Jaemin disappear from your line of sight which made you turn your head in hopes that you would be able to find him if you looked fully. But when you feel a hand on your forearm and a hard chest pressed against your back making your breath hitch.
"Relax, lift your arm and aim at the balloon you want" he says slowly, your breath is caught in your throat. The warmth of his hand around your wrist as he straightens it has your head spinning. "Try it" he huffs, the feeling of his warm breath on the back of your neck makes you slightly shiver while you attempt to gather yourself to aim the dart at the balloon.
One of his hands drifting to your waist holding you, honestly if he hadn't on time you would've most likely collapsed from how weak in the knees he had made you. Taking in a deep breath as you feel his hand tighten on your waist, your grip on the dart tightens, you look at a balloon that still hasn't popped.
Slightly bending your arm back you slightly jump forward letting go of the dart hearing the loud pop bringing you back to your senses you smile and turn on your heel with a smile on your lips "I did it" you almost squeal as you wrap your arms around his torso.
Jaemin could only smile at the giddy feeling bubbling inside his stomach practically flipping while he wraps his arms around you "that's good, but I still need to beat you" he teased as he pulled away wishing that it would last longer. Scoffing "if you wanted to win so badly you shouldn't have taught me how to do better" he said, pulling away and turning back to the game.
The game continued on for around 5 minutes with Jaemin winning with a cocky smirk on his lip as he tossed a few teasing comments at you. "Looks like you won, and didn't cheat... I guess" you say, rolling your eyes sarcastically. "Yeah, let's go to get you your slushy and then I'll take you home" he said pulling you to his side with his hand resting on your hip.
Your brows furrowed as he completely pushed aside the fact that he had bet on a kiss. Maybe he forgot. That's what you kept telling yourself at least. He didn't let go of your hip when he ordered for you and paid, but on the way back to the car he was smiling and talking.
Maybe he just didn't want to kiss you. This date was completely different from your last one, he wasn't trying so hard to impress you, he was actually letting you talk about yourself and was just all around being a good date. You just couldn't help but feel a tinge in your stomach that told you that he didn't want to kiss you.
But as you sit in the car you hold the small bunny and rub your hand against the faux fur in sheer silence as the radio plays slowly. Jaemin's eyes on the road while his fingers tap in a rhythm against the leather steering wheel. Your eyes train on the street lights that whip past the car window in orange blur's.
When he pulled into your gravel filled driveway you realized you rarely wanted the night to end. Even if Jaemin didn't want to kiss you, he still treated you well on your date proving that whatever stupid front he put on when he took you on your first one but he was nothing like before.
Opening his door first Jaemin walks to the passenger side and opens the door for you, holding out his hand you take it giving him a sweet smile mumbling your gratitude to him only earning him a hum. He doesn't let go of your hand, but he shuts the door behind you as you begin to slowly walk towards your familiar front door.
Suddenly it all came rushing back to Jaemin, your last date was sort of shit show and he regrets treating you like every other girl he had gone on dates with in the past. It was the simple fact that none of those other girls were like you, they wouldn't dare reject him for a second date.
None of them would be bold enough to even take their panties off on their doorstep and stuff them in his pocket. Hell Jaemin couldn't even remember the other girls before you, because every detail from; how you've never eaten cotton candy, to liking scary carnival rides took up all the space in his brain.
That's why he didn't kiss you. And as the both of you walk up the steps to your front porch you stand under the dim orange-ish light with a smile on your lips. "I had a lot of fun today, this tops our last date for sure" you said smiling
Jaemin nods agreeing, taking a deep breath "I'm glad it's nothing like our last date to be honest with you" he sighed. You tilt your head at his words "how come?" You ask "because today was really great, I liked that you got to talk about yourself and it wasn't just me being a self centered asshole" he scoffed which makes you huff out a small giggle.
"How come?" You say you look into his eyes only to see him already looking at you. "Learning all these things about you made me cherish the time we had. You even won me a penguin, I don't think any future date will top this one. And I don't think I want to go on any future dates with... anyone else but you" he says as his words become more quiet with each passing word that comes out before he can even think.
You smile at him and your eyes soften at the confession. "I don't think I want to go on any more dates with anyone else but you either. But I'm just curious about something" you return his feelings and it makes his heart soar within the confinements of his chest. "Hm?" He looks at you with a curious gaze trying to fight the smile on his lips.
"Why didn't you kiss me?" You ask quietly, your eyes trail to your beat up shoes getting a bit of dirt on them from walking about the carnival for so long. "Oh, I didn't want things to end up like last time. I didn't want to seem like I was only doing this to get into your pants. Maybe that was the initiative the last time I was here but the more I called you and we talked the more I realized that I didn't just want sex with you" he says hoping you'd look at him and see how genuine he was.
"And I know you think I still want to be with Chae, but I don't. I really don't. Because you, you were a wake up call to move on. The way you rejected me so many times, you didn't hesitate to humble me, you broke my stupid facade. All of that playboy act was bullshit. Chae broke my heart and I didn't know what to do so I just slept around until I finally met my match" he says the words coming from his mouth were coming out a mile a minute but you understood.
He was being genuine and you could tell by the sound of his passionate voice. "And I really need you to believe me" he whispers as he takes a step closer to you. When you finally looked to meet his gaze you failed to realize that the gap between you was barely a thing. "I do, I believe you. And although I wasn't really set on going to this date because of our last one I realized that I couldn't really blame. You have your faults and you learned your lesson. I really do like you Jaemin, and I thought that when you won the bet you were going to kiss me and then you didn't. I thought this was all just payback and that you were going to tell me to never talk to you again" you laughed breathily.
Jaemin could feel it on his skin as the cold air nipped at his pale skin. "You wanted me to kiss you?" He asks his voice just barely above a whisper, you nod with a smile "I was waiting all night for you to do it" you answered back. And it didn't take much for Jaemin to cup your jaw, his warm breath ghosting over your face bringing warmth to your body covered in goosebumps for the cold night air.
His nose brushing against yours has your eyes fluttering shut anticipating the warmth of his lips on yours he leans closer, hesitation dripping all over him. You lean in as well, your stomach felt like you had been riding a roller coaster over and over again and the closer you moved together you could feel his warm breath on your lips which makes you feel like you're at the tipping point of the ride and you're about to hit the drop.
Your eyes flutter closed and you both pull together like two magnets as your lips catch each other's softness. You suck in a small breath through your nose as your lips move in a rhythm. Your hands find their way to the nape of his neck letting your fingers entangle in his brown hair .
His hand touches your hip giving it a small squeeze, his tongue licks a small stripe against your bottom lip making your part your lips, you brush your tongue against his shyly feeling his warm wet tongue against yours.
Letting out a small groan, Jaemin's hand makes way to the belt loop of your jeans, hooking two fingers inside and pulling your hips closer against his. Your chest pressed against his sent him into a small daze.
His tongue now licking a stripe on your bottom lip begging for access, parting your lips, his tongue immediately brushing against yours, mixing your saliva. As you suck on his tongue the remnants of cherry slushie and cotton candy on his tongue. Pulling away he chases your lips with nothing but sheer eagerness. "It's starting to get really cold, do you wanna come inside and warm up?" You asked breathily as your forehead pressed against his eyes clouded with satisfaction in yourself.
He breathily laughs at your way of inviting him inside but nonetheless he accepts "yeah, I don't want you to catch a cold" he mumbled slightly out of breath as you pull away from his warmth, fishing your keys out of your pocket and unlocking the door to your empty house. You felt like a kid again sneaking back into your house with a boy you knew was bad news and regardless you would still do it.
Closing the door right behind you it didn't take much for him to pull you by the arm into his chest, his hands wrapping around your waist pressing the warm palms of his hands to your lower stomach, his head over your shoulders making you suck in a small gasp "you warm now?" He mumbles as he kisses the nape of your neck.
Your hands find his as you hold them in yours almost moaning at the feeling of his warm lips on your cold skin "mhm, feels really good" you whisper as if you had been any louder you would be caught. But you knew you wouldn't, your parents were never home longer than a week before they were off to some business in another state:
"But I think we would feel even more warm in my bed" you shiver under his touch as his hands begin to trail under your shirt. "You think so? Because I heard skin to skin contact helps too" he says you could feel his smirk against your skin as he leaves small wet kisses on your skin. "Well then I think we need to take off our clothes for that" you laugh breathily as he pulls away.
You both kick off your shoes giggling like you're high out of your minds while you pull him further into your home and up the staircase that leads to your bedroom. The halls are dark and if it had been any other night you wouldn't mind but the fact that you wanted to see Jaemin so badly almost had you audibly cursing.
But as soon as you make it to your bedroom door you don't hesitate to practically rip your door off the hinges as you twist your doorknob and pull your door open, you practically drag him inside that has him stumbling in as you reach your light switch. The sight of your bedroom was almost exactly like what he had imagined, only smiling to himself as he looked over at you, who was standing at your door with a smile on your face as you practically scale his figure.
He could feel heat all up and down his body, not that he minded in the least but it was getting harder not to touch you, kiss you, fuck you. He didn't care what it was, your presence was enough for him but he couldn't keep himself contained as he strides towards you, pushing your hips against the door hearing a thud of your body meeting the door harshly you almost moan at the feeling of his chest pressed against yours.
"I don't want anyone but you, and I think I've known that for a while now" he whispered as he pressed his forehead to yours, holding eye contact with him seemed to get harder "really?" You ask in a bit of disbelief which makes him scoff "I haven't slept with anyone or gone out since our last date. I was so hellbent on getting you on a second date and actually getting to know you that I just couldn't think of anyone else" he says as he leans in, pressing a chaste kiss to your lips.
"Not even Chae?" You whispered into his lips, Jaemin shakes his head "not even once. It's only been you" he answers as his kisses go from short and sweet to passionate and soft. And the moment your lips meet, has been a long time coming, an eruption of your lust. His lips are warm and gentle as he kisses you softly, delicately, as if he isn't sure you're real and he's still checking.
He's stealing your breath, and inhaling all the sweet little sounds you make, swiping his tongue to get a taste of your lip balm before it's completely kissed away. You're smiling against his mouth, you can't help it, giggling lightly at the feel of his breath fanning over your kiss-swollen lips.
His hands hold your hips pulling against his, you rock your hips feeling how hard he was becoming. You moan at the feeling of him pressing against your front, and although it had been weeks you couldn't forget how big he was, or how good it felt. the thought alone had your panties sodden with slick, and you could feel it begin to pool and settle. you were so unbearably wet, so touch-starved, you needed to feel some sort of relief. and right now, the friction was the closest thing to provide that.
Pulling away you chase after his lips only to hear him laugh breathily. His fingers tilt your chin back as your eyes bore into the ceiling, a small gasp slips out of your mouth when you feel his teeth brush against the skin on your throat. The warmth of his tongue makes you moan and ball your hands into fists. You were panting almost like a dog at the feeling of him kissing and sucking on your skin leaving behind what you assumed to be marks that would grow into dark plumb splotches blooming into bruises within the hour.
Shivering as his warm breath ghosts her skin which is a reminder of why the both of you had been up in your bedroom in the first place. "Still cold?" He asks lifting his face away from your neck to look at you who had goosebumps rubbing up your skin. You nod your head meeting his gaze. "Why didn't you tell me?" He asked as his hand rubbed against your arm.
You only shrug at his sudden care; it almost made you flustered if it wasn't for how needy you were. "Can you still warm me up? I wanna take up your offer on that skin to skin contact" you say with a faint smirk on your lips at the suggestion. He scoffs and shakes his head "that's why we're here" he says giving you his own smirk.
Pulling away from you his hand catches yours as he tugs you towards the direction of your bed stopping before the both of you can get underneath the sheets. "Skin on skin, remember?" He says turning towards you "so strip for me" he mumbled as his hands caught the back of his shirt pulling it over his head messing up his hair. Tossing his shirt to the floor he looks at you awaiting your next move.
Reaching for your shirt you pull yours off as well leaving you in a bra, your jeans and panties. The both of you strip down to nothing, smiling and letting out small huffs and giggles until you're both bare, Jaemin cups your jaw pulling your chest to his as his lips clash into yours, the both of you fall into the messy sheets of your bed barely breaking the kiss.
You straddle over his lap, his hands are all over your bare back while his nails drag across your skin lightly until his hands are tangled into your hair already messy from the wind and rides you had been on in the past few hours. You hum into the kiss pulling away foreheads pressed against each other you smile trying to catch your breath.
"I'm feeling warm already" you tease mumbling against his lips "yeah? Well I think you're still a little cold, and I wanna warm you up more" he says with a smirk on his lips that was very obvious. "Go ahead, I wanna see your technique" you laugh at your choice of words. Jaemin pats your thighs as a way of telling you to get up, you lay flat on your back with your head to the pillow. Looking up at him you could see how well sculpted his body and face was.
Every scar, freckle, mole, dent, scratch, and scab. It didn't matter one bit to you. In your eyes he was as beautiful as they come, and while he practically hovered over your body giving you feather kisses from your jaw and neck, down to your navel, until he disappeared under the covers of your body. You could feel your heart beating in your throat as he kissed your hips, lifting your legs over his shoulder like they were nothing and kissing your inner thighs.
"You're being such a tease" you whisper you could feel the warmth of his breath fan across your pussy that had almost made your thighs snap shut. "Just doing my job" he mumbled as his tongue pressed flat against your pussy earning a breathy moan as he dragged it from your entrance to your clit loving the sweet sound of your moans.
"Oh fuck" you whispered as he presses his thumb against your clit and continuing to lick and kiss everything he possibly can. You moan as your hand reaches for the back of his head pushing him against your pussy.
Groaning against you sent vibrations all over as you let out a small giggle that broke into a moan feeling the harsh pad of his thumb rub against your clit while his tongue worked to push inside you. Pushing your thighs against your chest and pushing them together you became more aware of every touch, lick, and kiss he gave to you.
The sounds you make are music to his ears. He presses his nose on your clit, inhaling your scent deeply before his tongue dives inside your waiting pussy. You pull onto his hair, writhing against his face. "Feels so good Jaem" you moan.
You could feel his lips curve against your pussy sending shivers down your spine. The wet muscle repetitively enters you, eager to gather your juices. It feels like heaven, stomach tightening with each second.
Pulling away his thumb Jaemin flattens his tongue against you licking from your entrance to your clit again, kissing it he sucks harshly on the bud with no regard as you moan his name mindlessly.
"Oh my god" you manage to whimper out you tug at his hair as he groans, your eyes shut as you "please use your fingers" you moan neediness dripping from your tone. His hand moving from your plush thigh, his thumb rubbing harsh circles on your clit, he pulled away, licking your clit once more his middle and ring fingers make way to your entrance.
Pushing in slowly you groan at the penetration, easing your tight walls around his thick fingers as he pushes them deeper you feel the cool metal of his rings all the way at the knuckles of his fingers as it grounds you from the euphoric feeling.
Pulling his head he looks up at you from the small blanket over his head with your juices on his swollen lips and on his chin his fingers begin to move opening your eyes you look down at him feeling his gaze as he watches you react gasping as the feeling you grind down against his fingers "you like that? Hm?" He says as he licks your essence off of his lips.
His hair now disheveled as his cheeks were blooming with a soft blush, you nod eagerly "yeah? You want me to go faster for you?" He coos feeling you clench around him at the sound of his dirty words, you clench harder "yes please" you say losing your mind on his fingers as you absentmindedly grind down on them.
Without a single falter in his movements his fingers began to rub against the gummy part of your walls at a faster rate as the sound of your sopping pussy getting pounded by his fingers made you squeal.
"Feels so good Jaem" you cry out hoping to god he wouldn't stop the rewarding pace he had set. Your hips involuntarily buck against his fingers as his assault of pleasure on your pussy consumed you whole.
"I'm close" you whine as the sloshing sound and the sound of you and Jaemin's mixed heavy breathing had been the only thing you could hear "yeah, you gonna cum all over my fingers?" He asks teasingly as his tongue licks a long stripe against your clit that has the feeling in the pit of your stomach churning in anticipation for your orgasm.
"Yes, wanna cum just for you" you whine under your breath as he pushes and pulls his fingers in and out of you faster watching you come closer and closer to the edge waiting for him to catch you. He sucks and licks your clit harshly making you let out a loud moan as you cum all over his fingers.
"So good" he hummed as he fucks you through your high slowing down as he kisses your clit that's now sensitive making you writhed under him. "Doing so good for me" he giggled as he pulled away from you kissing your thighs as if he was rewarding you.
You let out a small giggle that turned into a choked whine when his long fingers pulled out of you. With no hesitation he sucked on his fingers licking off any essence and cum you had left on his digits. Kissing up your stomach and chest once more he meets your lips, tasting yourself on his tongue and having you moaning against his mouth. "Wanna suck you off" you mumbled into his lips pressing yours against his harder.
"Yeah?" He asks, he can tell you are eager to get his cock in your mouth but that doesn't bother him in the least you nod as you pull away from him, the warmth the both of you shared had you feeling fuzzy. "Yeah, want it real bad" you almost whimpered at the thought of sucking him off again like you did in his car.
"I'm not stopping you" he says as the both of you shuffle around the bed switching places, the sheets warms underneath you as you settle between his legs. His cock hard pressed against his lower abdomen flushed at the tip glossy with precum. "You smile at his words as you spit in the palm of your hand, wrapping it around his shaft slowly jerking and teasing the tip with your thumb.
You hear him grunt making you slightly more confident with your actions, your other hand on his thigh gently squeezing as you listen closely to every huff, and groan that falls from his lips slowly. And when you finally put him in your mouth, finally swallow down the already-there taste of him on your tongue—you both let out a moan. Can feel the top half of him shift like his head has fallen back, an image of his beautifully parted mouth hung open, eyes screwed shut in pleasure has you moaning against him again; your body on fire, your pussy aching.
You match the pumps of your hand with the drag of your mouth up and down his dick. Swirl your tongue around the head and suck when you reach it. Let yourself go as far as your gag reflex will let you until you're gagging around him and he's cursing and digging his nails into the mattress once again.
And when you steal a glance to the side you can see how red his knuckles look from the death grip he has the sheets in. How his fingers twitch and hand runs along his thigh, acting as if he wants to touch you but not daring to. You steal another glance up at him, "oh, god" tumbling from his lips when your eyes meet; he looks so desperate right now. So flushed and pretty.
you take him deeper, using the back of his thighs to force yourself down. He's big. thick. and the stretch that comes along with taking him in your mouth is a plaguing reminder. but you don't mind it too much, you like the thought of him when he's all deep in your throat, and you can feel the tip of him hot and heavy in the back of your throat. it makes you gag, and choke, and your eyes get cloudy with tears to the point they spill over, but it's worth it. It's worth it without fail.
you keep your nose pressed into the skin of his pelvis until you physically can't, pulling off of him with a loud pop. your cheek is wet with tears, and your chin is slick with spit, the two coalescing at the tip into a sticky mess. The sight makes him twitch in your hand, because this is what he's been thinking about all day. this was his selfish wish, to see you below him with this expression. eyes all doe-eyed and desperate.
He can't help but to reach out and rub the callused pad of his thumb over your parting lips, pressing the salty digit flat against your tongue, and retreating it in the same breath to hook it around your cheek.
A string of profanities leave his lips. he's close, and you can tell by the way he begins to fuck into your face with unparalleled ferocity. to guide him there, you begin to hollow your cheeks and narrow your throat, using a single hand to massage his balls.
He can feel you start to get antsy, and when you start to scratch and claw at his thighs for air, that does it for him. with a final, lazy thrust, he releases the entirety of his load down your throat, keeping you pressed down on him until he's sure every last drop has been emptied into your mouth.
"Fuck" he breathily moaned as you pull away from him, your throat burning and tears wetting you lashes as your lungs begged for air, you couldn't help but puff out a few choked up giggles. "Still so damn pretty" he mumbled leaning forward, capturing your lips in a meaningful kiss. His hands caressing your cheeks as he refused to part from the kiss.
Filled with tongue and teeth clashing, it didn't matter that much to you because the feeling of his soft lips pressed to yours made you feel 10 times lighter. His hands find your hips, guiding you onto the empty side next to him, leaning over top of you finally breaking the kiss. The both of you having to catch your breath smiling and giggling close to each other's face not wanting to be too far apart.

snow falls
i hope this cute lil fic would be able to warm you up in these cold winter nights <3 my song rec for this would be PP1 by frakkur (best played while reading ^^) two quotes inspired by lsfm yunjins holiday note
summary: you and jisung play in the snow.
pairing: childhood friends! han jisung x reader
genre: fluff, one sided pinning (? perhaps...)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
the night was unforgivingly cold tonight. the sun had set not long ago, leaving no more warmth to comfort you. winter had always made the sun retreat back to the clouds earlier than it used to. the roads were icy and the houses in your neighborhood were covered in white crystal sheets. but that did not stop you and jisung from going out, only wearing two layers and scarfs haphazardly thrown over each other’s shoulder.
“wait up!” cheery giggles from the two of you are muffled by the snow. footsteps trek through the white heaps, leaving a trail of shoe-shaped tracks littered all across the snowy landscape. ignoring the bitter cold that stings your lungs, you two both ran.
it was silly, sneaking off outside this late at night during negative temperatures and with barely anything on. you felt like a child again, whisking your best friend to god knows where and him just following along anyways. it was just like the old days.
upon seeing a sliver of the familiar concrete sidewalk that used to greet you everyday, you both finally stop under a tall street light. it's warm, heavily contrasting against the snowfall and the stark darkness of night. a ray of light somewhat offering refuge over your figures.
“it’s so... so cold...” he sees you shiver, rubbing your palms together in a futile attempt to warm yourself up. jisung watches you blow out a puff of air. he could see your hands pale as they get colder, pulling the ends of your coat a little closer to your body.
i want to hold your hands.
the words are lodged uncomfortably inside his throat, itching to be spoken. jisung wants to desperately say it out loud. but he doesn't.
“i wonder when is spring going to start.” you say while sighing wistfully, closing your eyes. you seemed to have stopped squirming from the temperature now. the winds roar occasionally, sending a flurry of snowflakes upwards and into the sky, as if to whisper "not yet."
he stares longingly at your solemn expression. noting- memorizing every detail of your face. his gaze lands on your lips, tight lipped and closed; opposed to the grin that he so fondly remembers loving.
it's silent, but jisung is no stranger to it. the quiet understanding between you two was something to be treasured in all those years of friendship, knowing when the other doesn't want to talk.
your eyes open, grinning softly when they land on him. jisung decided long ago that your smile is his favorite thing in the world. you see his cheeks increasingly redden as you kept staring, chalking it up to him just being out here.
jisung had a lot of friends now. he was grateful to be close with a good amount of them but, none of them understood him like you did. friends come and go in jisung’s life, but not you. never you.
a painful but welcomed constant in his life was also his feelings. the juvenile infatuation with you from all those years ago had never dwindled, in fact it grew larger and harder to ignore as he got older.
jisung follows your hand as it slowly reaches out to the sky, the tiny delicate snowflakes melt as it makes contact with the warmth of your palm.
“you look beautiful.”
a smile easily makes it out of your face as you look to him right after. his hands are practically numb, but he couldn’t bring himself to care. he hears his own heart thump loudly in his ears.
you gaze into his eyes for a second, tilting your head in question. he realizes words go unnoticed. the onslaught of snow drowns out his confession. he shakes his head with a smile. jisung decided that it was for a different day.
“you’ve got some on your hair,” you laugh, leaning in to brush away the snowflakes with your bare hands. jisung’s ears burn again from the proximity, making him freeze in place.
your hands fall to your side, upon seeing his reaction, hands twitching lightly.
both of your faces, now tinted with a rosy hue and the cold nipping at your noses. puffs of foggy air comes out everytime either one would breathe. it seems like eternity, the way you stare at each other.
“i'll warm you up.” jisung finally smiles, opening his arms wide to slot yourself in. you grin once more, diving in with much enthusiasm.
he was content in holding you close, offering the warmth you needed. maybe he’ll never really know how you feel but, jisung would gladly stand in the frigid cold, if it meant staying here with you. maybe spring would come faster this way.

While you drive through the recently cleaned streets of the neighborhood you grew up, thanking the heavens that it stopped snowing for now, the radio plays a seasonal song and your murmur along. The traffic on the main roads were chaotic, almost as congested as your uncle's arteries, but now the decorated rooftops and doorsteps replaced the headlights on your peripheral vision. In front of a house stood a snowman, or at least his body stripped of arms and face.
You park in front of a house with simple adornments and flashers around the main door, a LED deer standing next to it and a small table with fake cookies and milk on top. All the energy was so reminiscent of the years you'd spend a whole day decorating the house with your mom, mainly inside, just so your father and sister could take care of the outside. Now that you both were grown and away, the couple occupied itself with the house interior and resumed the exterior with a simple approach. It never failed to take a smile from you, though, especially seeing the way they would adhere to simple things just because it looked cute, even if it had nothing to do with their native traditions.
Coming from Brasil, for the first part of your life you had hot weather and sunny days on Christmas. Maybe a night of rain, but never snow. Fireworks and catholic mass were on the list, but your parents went just to go along with the rest of the family and friends. They weren't religious, so in the end Christmas was simply another holiday, but with presents and - as all the other holidays - a family gathering. The main difference now was that you were studying in another city, becoming one of the absent relatives; you know, the ones that mainly go home for the holidays and vacations. It wasn't bad, but they definitely missed you a lot and the feeling was mutual.
Using your key to get in, the sounds of Simone’s “Então É Natal” (“And So It Is Christmas”), a brazilian holiday song, hit you immediately. You chuckle, taking off your boots and coats. From the front corridor the ornamented tree is visible, carrying innumerous lights and details. There's probably not a single empty wall, the seasonal decoration filling every inch of your field of vision.
“There she is!” Your father shouts as you appear in the living room smiling. The man goes into your direction with open arms, holding you tight. You smell that same cologne he wears since you can remember anything, and along with the warmth of the house, it truly feels like home. Some of the tension from university and work just falls on the carpet, leaving your body to receive all the good things inside that place.
“Carlos, you'll smash our child and I cannot have another one”, your mom yells somewhere from the kitchen direction, making you laugh.
“I can get another one anywhere, Marília”, he finally lets go, an arm around your shoulders. “Won't be as nice as this one, though”
“Of course not, she's irreplaceable”, your cousin Felipe says, approaching. “Prima, você tem feito falta!” (“Cousin, you have been missed!”) He holds you sideways with an insane amount of exaggeration, taking an embarrassed chuckle from you. Felipe was a lawyer with a lot of charisma, but inside he was just your cousin that your mom liked a lot. You both used to play together growing up. “From some people, a little too much”, he whispers playfully before running away, not letting you scold him for bringing up something you were not prepared to deal with this earlier, especially when the person implied wasn't even around. Yet.
Your father doesn't seem to notice, now talking with your mom again.
“Hey, Alice”, you wave to Felipe’s wife sitting on the couch, drinking something on a Christmas themed mug.
“Hey, sweetie! How's uni?”
“Tiring”, you shrug. “How about the kids?”
Your name is once again shouted through the house, and as you turn around three kids are running into you. Camila, Jorge e Rayana hold your waist, almost making you fall with a laugh. Camila is the oldest, at five years old, but the others are at the age of three. They're simply the most precious people in that family.
“Meus pestinhas!” (“My little brats!”) You start messing their hairs and pinching their ears playfully.
“Eu perdi um dente, olha!” (“I lost a tooth, look!”) Camila smiles widely, showing the first little window on her mouth.
“Ela tá ficando banguela e feia” (“She's getting toothless and ugly”) Jorge points out, and by Camila's reaction this isn't a new saying.
“Well, that's too bad. Because you'll get toothless and ugly too, just wait a few years”, Rayana and Camila laugh as the boy pouts at your response, looking at their mom.
“Vamo, vamo, abram espaço. Preciso abraçar minha filha” (Come on, come on, clear the way. I need to hug my daughter) Your mom’s voice finally reached the living room before her arms were wrapped around your torso. It's warm and familiar, you've missed her so much.
“Oi, mãe” (“Hey, mom”)
“Você tá tão magrinha, filha. Aposto que não anda comendo direito na correria, né?” (“You're so skinny, child. I bet you haven't been eating well in all the rush, right?”) The caressing she does on your back is reassuring, and by that you can tell you're going back with bowls filled with food. “Sua irmã vai chegar só mais tarde, seu pai vai buscar ela na estação” (“Your sister will arrive just later, your father will pick her up on the station”)
“When will uncle Jerry get here? He said he would get me new crayons”, Rayana mumbles while playing with one of the numerous ornaments on the lit up tree.
You try not to react to what that phrase implies, going with your mom to the kitchen to busy your hands and your mind with something else. She would probably kick you out of there soon anyway, she never liked having other people in the kitchen with her unless very necessary. But the need to act normal, smile and not think about family friends coming over it's bigger than the prospect of being scolded out of a room.
While the conversation continues in the living room and the song plays to never leave an empty place in your audition, you hover around the place talking with your mom about the neighborhood news and her routines in the morning walks group. It's comforting to know about what's going on, even if it doesn't really affect your life.
You help her cut the bread to make rabanadas (french toasts), looking forward to finally eating them. It's one of your favorite things of this season, even though you could actually find it anywhere at any time of the year. But the memories of having a plate of those on the supper table, covered in sugar and cinnamon, it's one of your favorites. So you're dividing your attention between the chore of slicing the bread and listening to your mom speaking, when a name being yelled in the living room catches your ear and you almost cut the tip of your thumb.
It's Jorge’s voice. “Abby!”
It's a blessing your mom didn't notice it, but now you have a bigger motive to stay inside the kitchen and never leave it.
No matter how much your mother talked, or the music filled the air, or the people in the other room got into different conversations within the group; her voice seemed louder than any other thing to you. You would swear she was next to the table you had the cutting board on, chatting with the children and playing with them.
You could swear you could listen to her whispering to you about lonely nights and missing pieces of a puzzle.
“Tia!” (“Auntie!”)
Your mom stops speaking just to turn around and look into the tall woman's direction. “Abigail!” Her comforting, mothering arms hold the strong torso, and the blonde needs to be in a not very straight posture to fully embrace your mom. What could you say, hightness wasn't in your family's genes.
“One of these days you'll be able to carry me around, with how big and strong you're getting!” And they both laugh as if Abby didn't live at the end of the block and they saw each other constantly.
All the while, you're trying to avoid the upcoming, inevitable moment. Your eyes glue on the bread, but you're not really looking at it. They're talking but you can't decipher the words, just assimilate the sweet voice making your cells tremble in vibrations. Cutting another piece, and another, then another, then-
“Puta que pariu-” (“Motherfucker-”), a drop of blood falls onto the cutting board when you pull your hand away, thumb red and hurting.
“What happened?” Your mom asks, concern in her voice.
“I cut my finger”, the running water of the sink makes the wound sting when you put the finger under it, the blood keeps coming out.
“I can take care of that if you need to”, Abby says, making you look directly at her for the first time of the night.
And you have to give the lack of air to the pain. You have to, because otherwise you would be admitting that looking at her takes your breath away.
“Yeah, Abby is working as a nurse in a school now. I bet she's used to this type of thing”, Marília goes to the cutting board, taking the pieces you've cut already.
There's nowhere to run over this. What will you say, that you don't want her to take care of your wound? That you can't be next to her, orelse all the coherent thoughts in your mind will fade away, leaving room for her voice? That your fingers ache to touch her?
You look to your still bleeding finger under the open faucet, then to the tall, blonde woman again. And while your mother wasn't looking, you both had a silent conversation about something, everything. She could see the doubt in your eyes, but you could see the pleads in hers.
“Sure, I think it wouldn't be much…” You try to smile, finally turning the faucet off and grabbing a towel to wrapp around your finger.
You both go upstairs, she tells you how there was a first aid kit in the bathroom and your stomach jumps at the realization that she knew your house more than yourself probably. Looking forward at all times and trying not to pay too much attention to her careful hand touching your arm like she was guiding you around the place.
“Go to your room, I’ll take the kit”, and you don’t even look at her to see how she was looking at you. You don’t know how that hurt her, mainly because you’re trying to get out of this situation as fast as possible.
The room is just like you always leave it after the breaks, bed neatly covered and books on the shelves. Some stuffed animals that you couldn’t bear to donate were aligned on a shelf next to a poster of a band you liked, the black and red contrasting with the creamy colors of a small giraffe. You saw the table where once you were pressed against, the lamp giving a soft light on the room as you felt a pair of lips so close to yours after all those years of yearning and silent pining.
“Okay, let’s give this a look” she was back using that voice, the one for the workplace. Tender, but firm; like she was trying to be secure, but reassuring.
Abby pulled the chair next to the table so she could sit in front of you, her knees together between your separated legs as she carefully took your hand and unwrapped the towel. Crimson drops started to flow down your finger, and the blonde woman never took the blue eyes away from the cut.
The distance wasn’t enough. Her scent would haunt the bedroom all night, making you dream about her just like it happened before, during your late school years, when she came to spend the day and left you numb and daydreaming. Her touches were so gentle, featherlight.
“It wasn't that bad, we can handle it”, she muttered like she was talking to one of the students from the school she worked at. “So, how's college?”
“It's okay, I guess”, with eyes glued on your own hand, you tried not to notice her thighs too much. “I've been working my ass off to write a paper while keeping up with classes and the monitoring thing”
“You'll get this, I'm sure”, you looked up just in time to see a smirk on her lips, but then returned to look down again before being trapped on that hypnotizing expression. “After all, you've always been very good with your words”
“It was easier in school, though”
“It always is”, she cuts the bandage before wrapping your finger with it. “But that's the thing, right? We start to realize how school was maybe easier, but then again, would you rather be back?”
“Oh, fuck no”, you chuckle as she finishes the curative. “I wouldn't change this for that”
“Yeah”, you finally look up more confident, meeting her indescribable expression. “I would change some things, actually”
“Like what?” You're just keeping the conversation, just trying to let it flow well enough for it to be bearable. You surely weren't expecting the next phrase.
“I wouldn't have dated Owen”, she sighs.
Owen was Abby's boyfriend. They started dating in the last year of school, and looked very much in love, for your displeasing. He wasn't a bad guy per se, but the fact that you already had a crush on Abby made you think that your feelings towards him were totally based on jealousy. So every single thing you had to say about him would be shoved down your throat immediately, and you'd just smile and nod to your friend anytime she mentioned him. You told her he was nice - couldn't bring yourself to say more than that - and supported their relationship with the most painful role in that whole story: the best friend with an unrequited crush.
By fall you found out she and Owen had broken up. Right after…
“Why is that?” Her eyes wander from the quilt to your hands, then back to your face. They were so beautiful, you could spend the rest of the night admiring them. Or the way her hair would fall around her face with soft lines, how her freckles were so attractive to the touch, especially on her arms.
“Don't think I was really into him… At least not in the right way”, Abby was the one not looking at you now, almost more interested in putting the stuff back on the kit box. “I could've been honest with him… And with you”
“Abby-”
“That's fine…” She shrugged. “He was a little bit of a dumbass anyway”
Silence falls around you both, filling the room with an emptiness.
The image of them both in your living room, last Christmas, haunts your mind as soon as you remember how you knew nothing and was too caught up in your own thoughts at the time. The way she laughed at his jokes, making your stomach turn as you smiled politely. Or how you saw them kissing next to the coat holder by the front door, and all the food you ate wanted to come back in awful bitterness.
You never told anyone. Never said a word, as always, rather keeping the green feeling on the back of your mind in order to not do something stupid - like being rude or start crying.
But then, you came home for the summer break. You dad was making barbecues in the backyard, you mom decorated the house with all the stuff your cousin brought from Brasil on his last trip, and you'd listen to pagode in the living room while the kids were playing and running, waiting for the meat to be properly roasted so they could finally eat.
Internally, you were ready to deal with that same gut-rotting feeling all over again. The plan was to sustain the fake expression until the time allowed you to pull the tiredness card on everyone and go to your room to watch some old telenovela.
Abby showed up alone, greeting everyone as usual. And when she looked at you, you could swear that was something in her eyes that could make you shiver. How she took your figure in before hugging you, how she held you so tight and for a little bit longer. How she was always trying to be next to you. You couldn't decipher, though, and the whole day went by mixing the confusion of her being without Owen and not even mentioning his name, and the rush of being that close to her again.
That night, in your room, she kissed you. Right there, where you were sitting now, she held your face between your hands and your skin shivered, while her lips touched yours.
You waited for years. Kissing her was probably one of the only things you wanted to do every time she was around, flesh craving hers. And it finally happened… But she had a boyfriend.
So you never talked about it again. You went back to college and texted her less and less.
“Abby, Abby, Abby!” A childish voice came from the corridor, the door opened to show Rayana. “Come here, I need your help to defeat Jorge and papai” (dad)
“Okay, I'll be there in a second!” The blonde smiled before the girl ran back downstairs. “Well, it seems like a have a duty”
“Can't let her down, she'll never forgive you”, you both chuckled while she got out of the room, first to leave the kit back in the bathroom and then to go to the living room again.
Sighing, you laid back on the mattress. Just like that summer night, you were alone in your room trying to collect your feelings about an interaction with Abby. Heart beating fast and a familiar warmth on your chest, wanting to curse every single entity for putting you in this position.
You came down maybe 15 minutes later, mask back on to decorate your face with a smile. You saw the tall woman on the mat with the younger children on top of her, attacking her while laughs filled the place.
“Okay, okay, saiam de cima da Abigail” (“Get off of Abigail”) Your mom didn't have to say it twice before they were sitting next to her. “Abigail, I need a favor. Remember that bowl I lent to you last week?”
“Sure”, her arms seemed stronger now that she was supporting herself on the elbows. Why was she so gorgeous?
“I need you to get it for me, darling”
“Okay, I got it”, Abby got up and immediately went grabbing her coat again.
And you were about to go back to the kitchen to make yourself useful, but it couldn't be that easy.
“Filha, vai com ela. Está nevando bastante, não é bom dirigir sozinha nesse tempo” (“Daughter, go with her. It's snowing a lot, it isn't good to drive alone in the weather”)
“Oh, it's not necessary-” She really tried, but your mom wouldn't take a negative answer.
“I'm not asking, you won't go alone!”
You nod and start putting on heavy clothes. It was okay, all good. You both would get in the house, grab the bowl, and get back in no time. It would be fine.

Coming Home
Hello Lovelies! Thank y'all so much for the support and love the past day! I have decided to write a little quick Folio Fic! Hope you enjoy!
Tumblr media
18+ warning
CW: [implied unprotected p in v but no descriptive details, drinking, fluffy fluff, smooching, longing]
It started like any other day when Folio was home, a quick morning text letting you know he was finally home after a long touring schedule. Not only was Nick your best friend, but you lived in the same rural neighborhood. You spent your summer days riding bikes throughout the twists and turns of neighboring streets. You spent the evenings watching Folio play drums in local bands in concrete basements, ears ringing for days afterwards. Winters were spent surrounding bonfires, wrapped in blankets and reliving old times together.
One by one each friend left your hometown but Folio stayed, except when it came to touring, recording, and anything else Bad Omens. So when the opportunity came to spend time with him, you always jumped on it.
And what did he want to do? Go fish...
Equipped with fishing poles, his dad's truck, and a cooler full of Natty Boh's, Folio arrived bright and early like he said he would.
The river was a short drive from your neighborhood. You sat in the passenger seat while Folio took all the familiar turns. At the end of a long road, that had since turned into dirt from asphalt, Folio pulled to the side. The sound of the parking break indicated it was time to gear up. You opened the familiar creaking door, moving to the now open truck bed. You reluctantly accepted the wader pants, earning a small chuckle from Folio's lips.
"The last time you complained about the leeches for hours, y/n," Folio said looking down at the pants then into your eyes.
You practically melted at his chocolate brown eyes, nodding your head as you begun pulling the waders over your leggings.
Once geared up you both trekked through the woods on a barely-there path, but you both knew exactly where you were going. At the rivers edge, you cracked open a beer, prepared your fishing poles, and waded out into the flowing river.
"I reckon I'll catch the biggest fish this time," You teased as you both cast out your lures. Folio chose a simple blue spinner lure, while you opted for a rainbow jerkbait.
Hours passed by as you both cast out lines, reeled in, and repeated. A few small bluefish made their ways onto your hooks, nothing noteworthy. The trout Folio caught was small and did not meet regulation to keep.
Despite the lack of fish, you both had fun. You earned a few splashes from Folio when you cast your line too close to his, he didn't want you to steal his prize fish. You splashed him when his back turned to you, earning a scold from him that you 'scared the fish away' when his line came up empty once again.
After another hour or so more, you both waded your way to shore to sit on the bank and drink a few beers. The sun had begun to set casting deep shadows from the trees. You both sat silently, enjoying each other's company. Every so often you caught Folio's eyes light up when looking at you, earning a shy smile and blush as he quickly looked away. It all just felt right. You loved his goofy smile, the way his face was so expressive even in simple moments like this.
When dusk settled, you both packed up your gear walking back to the truck. In the cover of the trees it was almost impossible not to trip over fallen branches and tree roots. When you made it back to the truck it took all but a few minutes to wiggle out of the waders. Although, Folio caught you when you tripped taking your left foot out. You caught his gaze, mere inches from his beautiful face. His eyes now as dark as the night creeping its way in. His nose ring catching the last light that was left behind.
Then his lips crashed into yours, it was slow but hungry. It started as just lips, and then teeth, and then tongue. The kiss grew urgent, hungry. Your body electrified, it had been so long since you imagined what it would be like to be Folio's. You gave up on that idea long ago when Folio wanted to pursue his dreams.
One shirt came off, then another, one bra, then pants were on the ground. You both had made your way into the backseat of the truck driven by a string you both knew was there. Folio took his time, sneaking glances into your eyes to make sure every move he made was ok, was right.
Fingers snaked under the bands of underwear, both cast aside somewhere in the front seat of the truck. The windows had begun to fog from the pure ecstasy of two friends exploring the deepest parts of themselves for the first time.
The silent night was filled with breathless moans; small gasps when the right spot was found. Pleasure was building slowly, powerfully running between the two of you. And then it was over as fast as it had started, ending in small screams of the others' names. You both clothed quickly, knowing you had already missed the opportunity to eat a hot dinner around your dining table.
Folio drove home, taking the familiar turns once more before pulling in front of your house. Lights illuminated his eyes, which you caught one more time before opening the door and going home.
If you had looked back, you would have noticed Folio's stare lingered on the back of your head for a moment too long. He wanted to say something, but he knew it wasn't the right time.
He would always come home.

Hope you enjoyed :)

Request: Carl gets lost on a scavenging trip and Reader, althought although she grew up well protected in Alexandria, goes to search for him on her own. In the end Carl has to save her and they get caught in a storm and have to seek shelter somewhere and spend the night and some fluff occurs, maybe more, as you like
delivered <3
⊱ ────── {.⋅ ✯ ⋅.} ────── ⊰
You often wonder what dirt tastes like. Oh, you wondered what life outside of Alexandria was like. Was it terrifying? Were the stories about the flesh-eating monsters true? Well, now you know.
⊱ ────── {.⋅ ✯ ⋅.} ────── ⊰
You watched as Carl was talking to his father, Rick Grimes. After Carl lost his eye, Rick had been a bit tense. But you understood that. Family is family. You saw Rick hand Carl a gun. You had your arms crossed. You were sitting on a bench, just watching the father-son duo talk. "Yeah, I'll be careful, Dad. It's not like I'm going to get bitten by a walker. So, chill." He reassured his worried father. "Teenagers," he scoffed. "Be careful, okay? I want you back here by five." Carl smiled and nodded. "Y/N," he turned to look at you, "don't do anything stupid till I get back." "How can I? You're taking all the stupid with you." He gave his father one last hug before walking out of the gates of Alexandria, your home. "You're staring." You turned your head and saw Enid. "Woah! No, hi or hello, Y/N, it's so great to see you," you mocked, making Enid roll her eyes. "You really gotta stop staring at Carl. He's the leader's son, for Christ's sake!" "Sorry, mom," you muttered under your breath. You got up from the bench and went back inside your house. You looked at your watch. It was one p.m. He should be back by six, just like Carl's father said. Hopefully, he will be back soon. You missed him. No, you barely know him. Idiot.
⊱ ────── {.⋅ ✯ ⋅.} ────── ⊰
You've had enough of this. The adults were panicking; your friends were panicking, and so were you. But you had the guts to get up and find the eyeless boy. You were going to do it. You threw your hood up and sneakily started making your way to the armory. You'd never done this before. You had lived a very sheltered life in Alexandria. Hell, you didn't even know how to properly use a gun. Thanks to Deanna, you were a bit useless when it came to fighting. After all, you hadn't left the walls since the outbreak started. You were lucky to have found Deanna just two days after the world went to shit and blood. You opened the window and jumped in, quietly, of course. You quickly grabbed a gun and stuffed it into your backpack. You heard familiar voices outside the window. "I'll go, man. Anything for the kid." It was the deep and gruff voice of Daryl Dixon. You hadn't talked to him before because he seemed intimidating. But who knew that Daryl Dixon was just a big softie on the inside? "Nah, you ain't going to look for him. You're staying here. Me and Michonne will go. Take 'are of Alexandria, alright?" It was Rick Grimes, the father of Carl Grimes. "Fine. But if you ain't back, then I'm going after ya." You heard them start to walk away. You let out a sigh. If this was the kind of stuff the FBI did, then you wanted no part of it. But anything for Carl. He is your friend. You opened the window you used to come in and jumped out. You kept your hood up and ran.
⊱ ────── {.⋅ ✯ ⋅.} ────── ⊰
When you were running, you also overheard Rick talking about where Carl went to scavenge. In your eyes, he was so brave. Carl was supposed to be scavenging for a bunch of stuff in an old neighborhood near Alexandria. You'd never been there before. You tripped over a rock. "Shit!" you exclaimed. You heard low growls coming from behind you. You looked behind you and saw four walkers. "Oh, shit." You scrambled to get up, but then again, you tripped over your foot and started falling down the road. At the bottom was a river. You used your leg to stop yourself from falling. You held onto a tree as you tried getting up. But again, you heard growls coming from behind you once more. You turned around and saw fifteen walkers. This is it. This was the end of your life. Y/N Y/L/N died to fifteen walkers who brutally dug into her stomach and ate her. "Oh, God. Help me." But it seemed like God wasn't listening. The wind began to pick up, and the rain started to pour in heavily. The sky has darkened to a deep shade of gray. You heard gunshots and ducked. And in a matter of seconds, the walkers fell one by one. "Woah! You look rough, girl. And didn't I tell you to not do anything stupid till I got back?" It was none other than Carl. "Oh, my. It's you! I've been looking for you for ages now. You idiot! You could have died!" You scolded like an angry mother. "Sorry, Y/N." Oh, but who could resist that adorably handsome face? "I got lost. I've been tryna find my way back to Alexandria too." You laughed. "The brave and bold-" You started coughing uncontrollably. "Poor thing." He walked over to you and gave you his jacket, but you pushed it away. "No. No, I don't need it." "Don't need it, my ass! Take it!"
⊱ ────── {.⋅ ✯ ⋅.} ────── ⊰
It was storming heavily. You and Carl were incredibly wet due to the rain. "Are you okay?" He asked. "What?" "I said, are you okay?" he repeated. "Yeah!" you shouted. There were wet leaves on the ground, a few collapsed trees, and walkers. You barely knew how to protect yourself. But Carl was there. And he was all you needed. "Y/N!" You turned to look at him. "Over there. That's the neighborhood that I was looking for." You nodded and took his hand. The two of you ran towards it. Your shoes were muddy, your hair was a mess, and your shirt was half-ripped because of a branch, but you were still wearing Carl's jacket. You and Carl were also tired. But kept on running towards the nearest house in the neighborhood called "Clemenswood." Carl kicked open the door, and you two ran inside, panting. You were cold and started shivering. "Y/N, I'll be back. I'll see if this place has food. You stay here, okay?" He said softly. "Okay," you answered. You sat down on the cold, hard, and dusty floor. It looked like no one had lived or stayed here for a while. Moments later, you heard Carl rush in. "Good, you're still here. Anyway, I found a few stale bags of chips and two sodas. Is that fine?" he asked. "Yes," you replied. He smiled and sat down next to you. He opened one of the bags and handed it to you. "Thank you, Carl." You smiled warmly. ⊱ ────── {.⋅ ✯ ⋅.} ────── ⊰
You and Carl decided to spend the night in Clemenswood as the rain didn't seem to be stopping anytime soon. You looked at Carl, who was laughing at something you said. "I love you; you know that?" You looked at him in disbelief. He blushed. "I meant it in a friend way-like a best friend way." You smiled. "Well, then, lover, I love you too. You're a great friend." Carl took your hand in his and wrapped his comforting fingers around it. ⊱ ────── {.⋅ ✯ ⋅.} ────── ⊰ You were lying next to Carl. His strong arms were wrapped around you. This is what friends do, right? "I love you. I do; you know that, right?" You smiled. "I do." The two of you sat up and looked at each other. He smiled and said, "Do you know what I want to do?" You grinned. "What?" you inquired innocently. "This." Carl leaned in and kissed you softly, his lips lingering on yours. ───── ❝ authors note ❞ ─────

gimme! gimme! gimme! ( a man after midnight ) // marcus armstrong
Tumblr media
summary: after graduating college and moving back home to sebring, florida to live with her parents, y/n becomes infatuated with the young man from new zealand who just moved in across the street
pairing: marcus armstrong x female! reader
warnings: money troubles, moving back in with the parents and losing the independence that comes with being a college student living on your own, parental expectations, difficult sibling relationship, implied smut,
author's note: why did it take me this long to write for marcus my beloved? i also kind of hate the ending but i wasn't sure where to end it soooooo
the sebring sun beat down against the road, heat waves visibly radiating off the pavement as y/n turned down on to the street where she grew up.
a street she swore she'd never come back to, until she realized that she couldn't afford to live anywhere else.
her manicured fingers tapped against the steering wheel in rapid succession as the bass guitar thrumming from the asking alexandria album she was listening to completely shook the chassis of her pickup truck.
well, her dad's old pickup truck.
a new car wasn't an expense that she could afford while she was away at school. but she loved that old truck like her life depended on it, right down to the squishy silicone alien bobblehead that sat on the dashboard, the stack of cd's that rested in the center console, the truck itself too old for bluetooth.
she turned on to her interlock driveway, defeatedly parking the truck behind her mother's five year old mercedes. she had just bought that car when y/n went off to school.
the y/l/n's weren't poor by any means: they still had money for family vacations, renovations on the house, to send their daughter to university. but they lived within their means, which meant budgeting out what was necessary and important and what was not.
and sometimes that meant making sacrifices. like moving back with your parents and younger sister after finishing your higher education pathway.
now she had a diploma, but no job, no house, no boyfriend and no prospects.
she cut the engine, deciding that it was better just to rip the band aid off now as she leaped from the cab of the truck, grabbed her backpack from the back seat and began the walk of shame to the front door.
"hey, mom." she said with a small, sad smile as her mother opened the front door, engulfing her in a warm, motherly embrace that made the smile on y/n's face grow a little happier.
"welcome home, sweetheart. let me go find your father and we'll help you bring your things inside."
ten minutes later, the y/l/n family, with the exception of y/n's sister shiloh, who was nowhere to be found, stood on the driveway with a foldable wagon cart from costco, unloading cardboard boxes and massive plastic tupperware containers from the flatbed of the old ford truck.
as nice as it was to be home, she felt like she was losing her independence.
she stacked a cardboard box in the cart before pressing up on her tip toes and leaning back to stretch her arms and her back, limbs still stiff from the drive in from tampa.
she paused to take a look around the neighborhood, taking in how much it had all changed. house prices had skyrocketed in the last ten years, and now the houses in the area were almost triple the price that her father had paid in the early nineties when he first bought the house.
but what really stuck out to her was the bright red high end mercedes amg sports car that sat in the driveway of the house across the street. the house that once belonged to the nice old woman that babysat y/n and shiloh when they were kids.
"who bought the noonan house?"
her father stopped moving boxes to look over at the house across the street. "oh, his name is marcus. great young man, he's about your age."
"he's my age and he can afford a house, while i have to move back in with you lot? that's absolutely fucking great." y/n groaned, looking back at the house. "and that car is at least three times the cost of mom's, and that's without the upgrade package."
her dad shrugged. "If you had taken my advice and gone into trades, that could have been you, kiddo."
"oh, fuck off."
"hey, watch your language." her mom warned, taking a tupperware container up to the front door. "he's a sweet, hardworking young man."
"what does he do for work?"
"he works in the automotive industry."
"and that's why you like him so much." she sighed, grabbing the handle of the wagon and following her mother back up to the house.
her father had always had big expectations for her. cars were the family legacy: her father's father had been the groundskeeper at sebring international speedway. her father had worked the assembly line at chevrolet before retiring and opening his own garage where he restored custom cars as a side hustle. she had been expected to also go into the automotive trade, as the son her father never had.
but that hadn't been what she wanted, as much as she loved cars. she'd been watching endurance races at sebring since before she could walk, and she learned how to use a monkey wrench before she learned what a curling iron did. her real calling was business. the four years of human resources training, and the diploma that had been mailed to her house had proven that.
she wasn't sure if her father had even hung it up anywhere.
she walked down the hallway, gingerly opening the pristine white door to her childhood bedroom. the walls were still painted the same pale purple, cluttered with canvasses that she had painted years ago, a twin bed in the middle of the room with a white down comforter and a pile of build a bears resting against the pillows.
"welcome home, y/n." she sighed to herself.
--------
three days later, the only peace that she could get was outside with the cicadas and the mosquitos. given sebring's proximity to the everglades, there was no small number of pests hovering in the muggy summer air as y/n pulled her hair back and popped open the hood of the pickup truck. there was a ratchet in her back pocket and a cropped, grease-stained white tank top.
any color darker than that and she feared she would get heat stroke.
she leaned over the engine, radio playing in the background as she began to fight with the engine's glow plugs, which she had been meaning to replace for almost a week.
"stupid fucking glow plugs. they're the easiest thing to replace, he said. it's easier to do it yourself, he said. well, why don't you fucking do it yourself, father dearest." she muttered, losing grip on the ratchet again and trying not to kick at the tyres. "motherfucker."
her head was still under the hood when the guest came strolling up her driveway.
"do you need help with that?"
"no, i don't need help, especially not from a man." she snapped, turning to look at the man standing across from her. "i can change a glow plug myself, thank you very much."
the man smirked. "well, i don't even know what a glow plug is, so you already know more than me."
withdrawing from the engine block, she twirled the ratchet in her hands as she turned to look at the man. "where's that accent from?"
"new zealand. i'm marcus, i live across the street."
she narrowed her eyes. this kiwi beanpole was the man that her father was so entranced with? this beanpole who didn't even know what a glow plug was worked in the automotive industry?
"y/n. my father speaks highly of you." she nodded in the direction of marcus' house. "you bought the noonan house? mrs. noonan was my babysitter, you know. from when i was five until i was fifteen. i loved that old woman."
"your dad did all the interior work for me. he's a craftsman, that's for sure." marcus nodded along. "back from uni for a few weeks?"
she'd deny it if you asked, but that statement cut deep. what hurt even more was that she would have to admit to him that she was moving back in with her parents. that she couldn't afford to maintain her independence, stand on her own two feet.
"actually, i just moved back home for good. i can't afford to move out." she sighed, moving to sit on the front steps of the house. "i forgot how hard my family was to live with. i've only been home for three days and i swear i've come this close to strangling shiloh. have you met shiloh yet?"
marcus laughed. "she's a firecracker. i don't think she likes me very much."
y/n grinned, inviting marcus to sit next to her. "she's sixteen. i don't think she likes anybody. ever since she dyed her hair black and got her nose pierced, she's been a different person. a person that i don't know how to relate to any more."
"i'm sure she'll come around. my sister is like, the complete opposite of me. paris thinks i'm full of shit half the time, but we love each other still. i know paris will always be there for me, and i'll always be there for paris."
y/n gestured at the car in marcus' driveway. "so how does a guy like you afford an amg and a three bedroom family home? because you sure as hell don't work in the automotive industry."
marcus raised an eyebrow, a small gesture that made her stomach do somersaults for reasons she couldn't explain. "what makes you so sure?"
"you didn't even know what a glow plug is. all diesel engines need them to run. i learned that when i was twelve years old, you would have learned in high school auto shop. so what do you really do? stripping? black market drugs?"
the kiwi laughed, throwing his head back. "i'm a podcaster, and i work in racing. telling your dad i worked in the auto industry seemed like the best way to get on his good side. he's a good contractor."
racing. something that once brought her so much joy but now left a bad taste in her stomach. she hadn't been to the speedway since she moved out.
"racing is in my blood. i was raised at the track because my grandfather was the groundskeeper. i remember watching the indycar race on his shoulders when i was seven years old, a chip ganassi hat that was three sizes too big resting on my head. i couldn't see a thing." she smiled at the memory. "my dad worked the assembly line at chevy, with some contracting on the side once he learned my mom was expecting me. after he retired he started restoring custom cars part-time, and i think he always hoped that i'd take on the family business with him."
"and you didn't?" marcus seemed surprised. obviously he expected that the girl in the skimpy top and cutoff shorts and the astrology tattoo on the inside of her wrist who cursed like a sailor when things didn't go her way would feel right at home in a garage, ratchet in her hand and wrench in her back pocket.
"i went into human resources. i couldn't stay in a garage all day, breathing in grease and lead paint day in and day out, wondering if things could have been different."
"do you regret it?"
she sighed, biting her bottom lip in a motion that sent a rush of energy through marcus' body. "i don't know yet."
as the silence became awkward, y/n got to her feet again, reaching out a hand to help marcus up. "come on, you're going to learn about glow plugs today."
----------------
"shiloh, can you keep it down?" y/n shouted, staring numbly at the resume on her computer screen. nobody told her that she'd be graduating without a single prospective job offer, and now she was scrambling to find a proper hr job, otherwise she'd end up working the counter at white castle.
she was in the basement, at the table she used to use to finish assignments in high school. the floor, once shining hardwood, was now adorned with rice mats for her sister, who was currently cycling through her second workout video, the basement filled with the younger girl's grunts and the sounds of weights knocking against the padded floor.
"i'm trying to do my workout." shiloh answered coolly. "i have a tournament in three weeks."
"i don't give a fuck, shiloh, i'm trying to find a job so that i don't have to live with mom and dad until im thirty years old."
shiloh rolled her eyes, turning back to her kettle bell weights. "they're always hiring at sonic burger."
"i'm not working in fast food for the rest of my life, jackass! i spent thousands of dollars trying to get this goddamn degree and now i can't even use it for anything!"
"should have listened to dad and gone into the trades. maybe you aren't trying hard enough."
"shut the fuck up, shiloh!"
"girls!" mrs. y/l/n called. "what is going on down here?"
shiloh pause her youtube video, getting to her feet. despite the four years between them, shiloh towered over her older sister, and was often confused for the older one. "y/n keeps interrupting my workout."
y/n gawked. "i was here first! and i'm trying to get a job, at the only damn desk in this house, and shiloh can't even give me ten minutes of peace because it's 'her routine' and i'm 'being disruptive'."
"well, your sister's workout is important. she's a high performance athlete."
"i don't give a shit, mom!"
"language, y/n! go upstairs and work at the dining room table, stop fighting with your sister. you've only been back home for a week!"
"yeah, ande it's like you don't have space for me here anymore!" y/n shouted, slamming her laptop shut and running up the basement stairs, trying not to cry.
this is the last way she expected her life after college to go: hunting for jobs in her moms basement, her sister telling her that she wasn't trying hard enough to get hired anywhere other than a fast food restaurant who would hire anybody off the streets during the busy months.
she couldn't even stand to be in that house, walking right out the front door and striding across the street to the noonan house without even looking to see if there were any cars on the road.
she walked past the mercedes, hand curled into a fist as she knocked on the front door, hoping and praying that a certain podcaster was home.
"y/n?" marcus' voice was soft and concerned after he opened the front door. "what are you doing here?"
"can i get some work done here? i'm trying to fix my resume so that i don't end up working at white castle for the rest of my life and i can't get anything done with shiloh around."
“of course,” marcus laughed “I’ll open a bottle of aperol spritz?”
"god, yes!" she breathed out, stepping into marcus' front hall and slipping out of her flip flops before she followed him into a large open concept main room, a kitchen island running down the middle. the back wall had been all replaced with sets of french doors that were more window than door, letting light into the bright, modern space.
"you're house is incredible. i don't think mrs. noonan updated this place since the sixties."
marcus chuckled, grabbing a glass wine bottle from the counter. "don't i know it. the master bathroom still had a green toilet. a green bloody toilet."
"oh god." y/n laughed, sitting at the island and opening her laptop. "can i trouble you for the wifi password?"
once marcus got her hooked up to the internet, she pulled up her cv, looking at the sad, small list of qualifications she had. she'd been lucky enough that she hardly ever had to work over the summer or in high school. everything on her resume were the community service hours she was required to get to graduate secondary school and the one paid position she did for the town of sebring three years ago.
"i'm never going to get a fucking job, am i?" she groaned quietly as marcus passed her a wine glass filled halfway with aperol spritz. "i'm going to be working a fast food counter at an all night mcdonalds."
"you could always work for me." marucs shrugged. "not to brag, but i just signed a major indycar deal with chip ganassi and i'm trying to expand my team, both with podcasting and racing."
"hang on, podcasting and racing?" y/n blinked, looking up from the screen, blue light still glowing onto her floral patterned shirt. "you're a racing driver? you could have mentioned that!"
marcus laughed as y/n reached over the counter to swat at his arm. "what? i assumed you would have googled me!"
"i have better things to do than google my neighbours!"
"i'm being serious, look me up right now."
y/n rolled her eyes before typing marcus' name into the search bar (after bothering him for his last name, which she realized she didn't already know).
"well shit. i'm staring at the newest driver of the ridgeline lube chip ganassi number 11 indycar."
"i told you." marcus grinned goofily, taking a sip of his drink. "seriously, you said you went into hr? we'll need someone like you to be on the podcast team for screaming meals."
y/n smiled softly at the boy across from her. the boy who had already lived more life than she could ever have dreamed of. "yeah, okay. maybe i'll take you up on that."
----------------
it was the first time she had been alone in the house all week, and she was ready to take advantage of that fact.
all week she had been back and forth between the childhood bedroom she was trying to redecorate and marcus armstrong's living room. many a night had been spent sleeping on his couch after a night of shitty comedy movies and cheap supermarket wine.
no, her parents and shiloh had left before six in the morning to take her to a cross country meet in daytona, and they wouldn't be back until well after ten p.m.
the silence was nice, she thought to herself as she paced the house in her soft cotton robe, the hem barely covering her ass, a warm, almost empty mug of hot chocolate in her hands as she drained the last dregs of laura secord and placed the mug on the kitchen counter.
she shut the bathroom door behind her, the heating tubes underneath the tiles warming her cold feet as she connected her bluetooth speaker, 'just like a pill' by p!nk echoing around the room as she leaned into the shower, trying to run the water warm.
the shower sputtered, weakly spitting out three drops of lukewarm water.
"oh for the love of god!" she groaned, pressing her head against the glass shower door. "the one fucking day i have the house to myself."
she sighed, lying down on the floor and opening the doors to the cabinet under the sink. there was a problem with the pipes, the one thing that she couldn't fix (and also didn't want to risk making worse, with things between her and shiloh being particularly tense). cursing under her breath, she reached for her phone.
"hey, marcus. can you come over? there's something up with the pipes in the bathroom and my shower won't start. you wouldn't happen to know how to fix that, would you?"
on the other end of the line, marcus laughed. "funnily enough, that's probably the one thing your dad taught me that he didn't also teach you. let me go and commence the wild goose chase required to find a tool box in this house, and i'll be there in ten minutes."
"you're a lifesaver, armstrong."
true to his word, ten minutes later, marcus armstrong was lying on her bathroom floor, shirt riding up to showcase his perfectly toned abs, muscles rippling under his skin as he tinkered with the pipes. it was taking every bit of self-restraint that y/n had not to cast aside her bathrobe and ride marcus on the heated floor.
she swallowed the thought, closing her eyes as she mentally chastised herself for thinking about her neighbor, and only friend within in a ten mile radius, like that. feeling her nipples hardening under her robe, she crosssd her arms over her chest (and her legs over each other, to try and deal with other issues) in an attempt to hide her arousal from the kiwi.
"i think i've got it!" marcus shouted. "try the shower now!"
grateful for the distraction, she padded over to the massive shower, reaching inside and turning the dial to warm. she let out a sigh of relief as the shower started up, warm water cascading down the rainhead and swirling down the drain.
"marcus armstrong, i could kiss you right now." she beamed, turning back to the man, who was now leaning against the doorframe. "thank you so much. there has to be something i can do in return."
marcus swallowed, realizing now how small the bathroom truly was, despite the size of the rather large shower. and with that realization, he also realized how close to y/n he was standing.
and he could also see the outlines of her nipples poking through the cotton robe, a sight that made him draw in a breath.
he wasn't supposed to think about her like this. not with the season coming up, and her about to start working for him in the screaming meals production department.
it wasn't proper.
but why did it feel so right?
neither of them said a word, marcus' hand coming up to caress the side of her face. refusing to spend any more time overthinking it, he kissed her first, cradling her bottom lip in between both of his.
what started out as a sweet, gentle kiss, quickly became hot and heavy, hands wandering under shirts and robes falling to the floor, shower still running behind them as marcus palmed y/n's ass, a small, sugar-sweet moan leaving her lips.
"you have no idea how long i've wanted to do this." marcus breathed, voice husky as he fumbled with the belt on his jeans. "every time we've watched a movie on my couch, i've wanted to pull the blankets over both of us and take you right there. they day you came running over to my house after shiloh was giving you shit, i wanted to kiss you and tell you everything would work itself out."
"well, now's your chance, armstrong. the shower is big enough for two."
__________
"marcus, can i ask you something?"
two rounds later, they were lying in y/n's bed, the plush white duvet pulled around their bodies. it was a tight squeeze, getting them both to fit on the twin sized mattress. her build a bears had been unceremoniously shoved onto the laminate floor.
"whats on your mind, pretty girl?" marcus asked softly.
"how are we going to make this work? i live with my parents and my teenage sister, for god's sakes. i'm back under their curfew, sleeping in a twin bed in a room that hasn't been redecorated since i was seventeen."
marcus kissed her on the forehead softly, moving to lace his fingers with hers, his hair still damp and ruffled form the shower. "we try, as simple as that. we'll find you a job, and you can stay over at mine however often you want. i can't promise your parents that you'll be back by the time curfew hits, but i can promise them that you're safe with me. and who knows, if this goes really well, maybe you could even move in with me."
y/n laughed softly. "hold your horses, racer boy."
"i'll hold the horses back as long as it takes for you to realize that i'm hopelessly in love with you."

Hey There! Can I request a Home X Reader please? Like reader is housesitting for Wally?
Knock, Knock, Knocking On My Heart
Home x Puppet! Reader
TW: Small tense scene
Hello, hello, hello, there! Oh, absolutely, you can!! I'm so excited! I've never written for Home before besides headcanons! So new, so exciting!
Oh! Also! New announcement!! I now have interwebs access at my humble abode! This will make putting these up on here much easier. In the meantime, I hope this fanfic will appease you all!
Thump!
You set the last heavy box in the trunk and closed it with a thud. You listened to the hushed voice of Wally comforting Home as you grabbed up his small bag and placed it in the backseat of his car. It was almost never used, as nobody---Wally and yourself included---really had any reason to leave the neighborhood. His car was bright red like a newly ripe apple, and so clean and shiny from not being used you had to keep from looking at many parts of the exterior so you wouldn't go momentarily blind. Today, however, was a special occasion for Wally to finally use it.
Wally had told you him and a few of the other neighbors---Barnaby, Julie, and Frank---would be leaving on a few days trip. Due to Home being alive and Wally caring deeply for his companion building, asked you to watch over them while they were gone. Wally had never specified what the trip was, only making small mention of a convention of some kind and something about fans.
"A convention about fans?" You asked him. "My, why would anyone need to hold a convention about fans? You can just buy them at the Bugdega. Are there really people that like fans that much?" Barnaby laughed, putting his paw on your shoulder, which ended up being more on most of your arm with your size difference.
"But Teacup, it's more than just fans. It's A/Cs, it's freezers, it's---" Barnaby was interrupted by Wally's monotone robotic laugh.
"Oh, Y/N, it's something you'll learn about soon. You're just not ready yet. Maybe we'll take you and show you next time what we really mean." You quirked an eyebrow at your fellow puppet friend. You could never tell what thoughts or knowledge were behind those unchanging eyes of his. Barnaby always knew, though. Plenty of times were had where you wished you could do the same. Kind of like now.
"Oh, Home, it's okay. I'll only be gone for a few days. Y/N will be here to keep you company until I get back. And some of the other neighbors will still be here, too." You turned to face Wally and patiently watched him pat Home's side as the latter continued to protest and whine through their creaks and knocks.
"Wally," You called out to him. Wally paused his hushed comforts to Home, but continued to stare up at it. You noticed in the corner of your eye Home's gaze turned to you. "Wally, it's all packed up. Ready to go whenever you want." Wally patted Home once more and upon meeting Home's gaze, nuzzled his face against Home's wall. Home creaked once more. It was hard not to notice the distinct shattering sound from somewhere inside, but Wally ignored it.
"Oh, Home," Wally cooed. "It's okay. I'll be back soon. I have to go now. Goodbye, Home. I love you." The two of you watched Wally walk away and get in his car. He adjusted the rear view mirror and his smile grew wider upon seeing the two of you. That was the last of him you saw for the next few days as he drove off into the horizon.
Feeling a knot twist up in your stuffing for the old building, you patted Home's side as they stared off where Wally once was. "It's okay, Home." You called out to the building. "He'll be back before you know it." Yet Home's longing stare never left that road. You racked through your felt head for ideas on comforting Home, until finally...
"Aha!" Your yelp finally drug Home's eyes away from the road and down to your small figure. "I know, maybe we can make something for Wally when he gets back! What do you think, Home?" You turned back up to Home and waited. They only stared back. You were beginning to become unsure of your idea working when you heard the faintest creak from the building. You quirked your eyebrow and tilted your head.
Oh, right. You can't understand Home.
It was strange to you. Everyone else in the neighborhood could understand Home to some degree, but for you---as the newest resident only having moved in a month ago---had no idea what Home was ever saying. Usually whenever Home would talk to you, another one of your neighbors would be there to translate. Wally was often the one to most often translate for you due to the two of you being best friends and Barnaby would be the one to translate when Wally wasn't there (which you recall only happening once.) You, Wally, and Barnaby were an unbreakable trio, but now there was just one of the three here: you. With no one to help you understand.
This is going to be a problem.
Home was quick to notice your expression and rolled their eyes. Faintly, the ringing of a phone was inside. Home opened the door for you, and you walked in.
The inside was painted in warm colors and sunlight, and the living room sat as it usually did. With chairs in various colors and shapes and paintings and photos of your friends, Home, and other parts of the neighborhood lining the walls. Memorabilia from the neighborhood’s past adventures sat neatly placed upon a shelf, right beside Wally’s only apple—a fake one Barnaby had secretly replaced when the old one got rotten. You had been sworn to secrecy to never tell the third person of your trio. A small canvas in the corner of your eye caught your attention. You barely noticed it hanging in the corner of a wall, but painted on it was you. Laughing away under a bright colored tree on a warm spring morning. Dirt, grass, and flowers adorned your hair, almost forming a crown upon your dainty head.
"Stay still..." Wally hummed away a tune as he painted on the canvas. You did your best to keep your form as still as it could possibly be. You were sitting under his favorite tree, admiring the sky's clouds to take your mind off of being a muse.
It was quite flattering when the shorter puppet had asked you to be as such. The others nearby encouraged you to take the offer, telling you how great of a muse you would be and how well Wally painted. It wasn't uncommon to the others for Wally to paint them from time to time, and soon enough it would be a common occurrence to you and you'd get used to it. So you did.
Wally's canvas faced towards Home and Barnaby so they could watch the two of you. Barnaby noticed how stiff you were, and decided to begin making jokes. Sarcastic jokes, puns, improv, one liners, everything he knew to get you to laugh. At first Home had scolded him---at least according to Wally---and reminded him how difficult it can be to stay still when you want to laugh. But within the next few minutes, you heard squeaks and creaks from the house and monotone laughter from Wally.
Yet you remained strong. You needed to be still for Wally's painting, after all. But Barnaby continued, pushing even further to make you laugh. It started as a sweet rush, then a bubble, then restrained giggles, until finally you couldn't take it anymore. You broke out in laughter and brought a hand up to stifle it. But---uh oh---!
"Wha---Oof!"
Your body tipped over. Your only support was the very same hand you used to cover your smile and giggles. The others broke out in full uncontrollable laughter. You felt your face go hot. There you were with your new neighbors and friends, laying on the ground from making the dumb decision of using the wrong hand, now with smudges of dirt across your clothes and face along with grass stains. Your head tipped down as your entire face began to feel warm. Home was the one to stop laughing---you assumed that's what it was---and began talking.
"Oh, you're right, Home." Wally responded after his laughter had died down. Barnaby quieted his own laughter to listen as well and things went quiet. You refused to look up at them. How could you? You just made a fool of yourself! You pushed strands of hair out of your face and began smoothing out the wrinkles in your clothing. Maybe you can brush it off like it was nothing. Maybe you can still recover and make it seem like it was on purpose so you won’t look like an idiot. Maybe---
A blue furry hand caught your eye. Barnaby and Wally stood over you. Barnaby was offering you his hand, while Wally held some cleaning wipes.
"You okay there, Teacup? Didn't fall too hard and stop working that head of yours, right?" Barnaby smiled his usual lazy goofy smile down at you. You stammered for an answer, and your face flushed even hotter. After a moment, you reached for his hand, and he pulled you up as if you were light as a feather. Before you could process what was happening, a wet wipe was smudged across your face. It tickled. Your larger friend ruffled your hair and made a few small jokes.
You couldn't help your laughter. It bubbled out of you before you could even stop it. Home was the first to laugh alongside you. Then Barnaby, and finally Wally.
It was such a sunny warm day. The perfect day to laugh with your best friends.
It wasn't uncommon for you to have ever been in Home, but it felt...empty without Wally or Barnaby by your side. Like it had a spark, but it was just a spark on the outside. With no optimism or energy or motivation behind it. It was just a shiny light.
The red phone on the side table continued to ring.
You picked up the receiver and brought it to your ear. Which of your neighbors was calling?
"Yes. I think that'd be a great idea, Y/N." A whisper slithered from the other side.
Your breath hitched. "Who..." You paused. A little twist formed in your stuffing.
It made you feel sick.
"Who is this?" Another pause, but from the other side of the line. Then that same whispering voice.
"Home." The windows turned to eyes to look down at you. In this neighborhood, despite being short, you had never felt small. This was the first time. But the feeling dissipated as soon as it formed.
"Oh, Home!" You chirped. "I didn't know you could do this! That's so cool! I can understand you now!" Your cheeks flushed warm as you noticed the stare of Home. "I'm sorry I couldn't before." Another pause.
The silence was deafening.
"It's okay. You'll learn." Yet another pause. But this time the air felt lighter. Home’s stare wasn’t boring into you as much anymore. That’s right. Home isn’t a threat to you. "What about a painting?"
You nodded and skipped over to a cabinet. Inside were Wally's paints and paintbrushes, and stored in a nearby dresser were his canvases. You quickly set two canvases up for the two of you before a thought occurred to you. So, you put the receiver back to your ear and called to Home.
"How will you be able to paint on the canvas?" There was no answer, only silence. Then a small tap on your shoulder. You bolted around, expecting some figure to be lurking behind you—but instead finding something much more peculiar. A curtain reached out to you as if it were an arm, and the end was balled up to act as a hand. You looked to the other curtain, and in its other make-shift hand was a brush. You gawked at the sight, and Home creaked in a rhythmic tone. It echoed through the walls and halls, and you heard that same whisper laughing through the phone.
"I can do so much more than you think." The voice echoed, a bit less monotone now.
And that was the start of your friendship with Home. Before you had always seen Home as another neighbor, but there was a solid wall between the two of you to keep you from getting closer. And now that wall was demolished. Over the course of the next few days, Home had taught you some basic "building language", the two of you had created many things and done so many activities together, and had conversations that lasted for hours at a time.
The first night you had stayed there, Home had reassured your fears of the dark and monsters in the halls, and talked with you about meaningless things throughout the night until you fell asleep. The second night Home had told you stories of the neighborhood and of a world long ago—long before you even existed, you were sure. The third night you fell asleep with no problems. You were safe with Home. You knew that by now.
You had found Home had many stories to tell, and was much more friendly and wonderful to get to know than you had first realized. With Home, you never had to worry about making a fool of yourself. With Home, you could be yourself completely, and they adored it. They adored you, just as much as you adored them.
By the time Wally, Barnaby, Julie, and Frank came back there was something different between the two of you. The spark that seemed to leave with the others was back stronger than ever shared between you and the colorful building. Stronger than any spark you had with everyone else. More bright, more colorful, more meaningful. You two were inseparable. Well…metaphorically speaking, that is.
Who knew a random average puppet like you would mean so much to a living building? And who knew an average building like Home would mean so much to a wonderful puppet?

Killing Dead - JTK
friendly reminder that Jeff is still a killer!
Chapter 3 - Us or Them
You and Jeff go on a little grocery trip and run into some trouble and Jeff has a hard time accepting he needs help sometimes too.
Ch1
You weren't going to wait for anything, Jeff had brought his own food into the house so you took it upon yourself to take all of the food you had bought prior to the apocalypse and brought it upstairs into your closet. Which looking at it now, you had way more food than he did making you feel smug and a little too confident. "Get your shit together."
Jeff knocked on your door and you ignored him to continue organizing your own supplies and rationing for the days ahead. "I know you're in there I can hear you shuffling." He sighed out and there was on last thud on the door. "Be ready in 10 minutes, we are leaving to get some things." His heavy footsteps faded off and you were crouching over your stash. Getting up you took some jeans, a plain shirt, and a light jacket to wear as well as some sneakers. You tucked your gun in your pants on your back and tucked your shirt behind, you were afraid to shoot it. Not that the noise would attract more, well anymore. Your house was further away from civilization aside from the few neighbors you had it was a small community meaning few zombies.
Jeff watched you come down the stairs and got out of his seat on the couch. He had a wide smirk on his face and grabbed two bags off the coffee table and threw one of them at you. "Inside is an empty waterbottle and a knife."  You opened the bag to look at the water bottle. You had never seen it before in your life. It was black with a red stripe along the lid and bottom, and the knife was folded in the brown handle of it.
"Where did you find this stuff?" Jeff didn't even acknowledge the question and left out the front door without thought of you following. You quickly put the bag on and filled your bottle with water and followed suit, to where he was standing in the middle your driveway next to your car.
"We are going into town." He had your keys and threw his bag in the back seat of your little Corolla and slammed your door. He dangled your keys making them click together then threw them at you. "And you're driving."
You just sighed and grabbed your keys in the air, it was better to have you driving anyway. If needed you could control the situation, maybe even ditch him. He gave you more power than he realizes. You put your bag in the car and sat in the driver seat, Jeff followed in suit but instead going into the passenger side and immediately pushing his seat all the way back and putting his feet on the dash. "What the hell are you doing?" He took his knife out and started cleaning his nails with it, he just shrugged and rolled his eyes.
"End of the world and you care about your fucking car?" He took his feet down and aggressively stomped them onto the floor. The words "end of the world" rang in your ears, you subconsciously started the car and started your way to what was once your local grocery store. You had to slowly make your way through the neighborhood. All along the road there were blood splatters followed with red streaks of someone trying to escape. Bodies torn apart at the stomach, others were missing heads or arms. You recognized some. Some of them were workers at the grocery store you were heading to, others you would see walking their dogs in the morning. End of the world. The pit in your stomach grew with each second as you exited the neighborhood and turned onto the main road. Cars littered the streets, doors were wide open with blood splattered on the interior.
"I don't think we can drive through this." You stopped the car and observed your surroundings, looking for any possible way around. The main road was surrounded by trees so you could no drive onto the side walk, there were cars crashed into trees, each other, homes, and a convenience store. "Let's pause here." You unbuckled yourself and pointed to the store with the car inside it. "Loot this store here and pack what we can into the car then we can decide if we need to go further and how we will want to from there."
Jeff provided no feedback with your plan and stared at you dumbfounded at the idea. Giving you nothing to work on other than wide eyes and a wide smile with no emotion behind either. "I like your thinking." He opened his door and got out bringing his bag in one swift motion, you opened your door but he closed it almost immediately. Your jaw dropped at the action."I'm going to go clear this building. I'll signal you to come in when it's done." He hit the roof of the car two times and turned around to the store. Instead of listening to him you opened the door, clumsily grabbing your bag and something falling out of it. But not caring enough to look, you left and locked the car to run after Jeff.
He heard you stomping behind him, ragged breathing loudly next to him. "What are you doing? I told you to stay put." He got into your face and you scoffed. "I'm not staying there. Plus two pairs of hands are better than one pair of hands." You walked ahead of him, he was pissed. How dare you not listen to him? Don't you know who he is? He quietly ran behind you, causing you to jump in surprise. You were headed into the store through the hole in the wall, he pushed ahead of you instead and crouched.
The car had crashed into the wall adjacent to the fridges. One of the fridges were destroyed by the car while the one directly next to it was slightly damaged. Milk and something you believed to be leaking from the car was covering the floor. Jeff had touched the liquids and said that they were still cold. "Someone else is here." He slowly stood and faced you, putting his finger to his lips then to yours telling you to be quiet. Then he smiled and went further into the store.
You stayed put this time unsure of what to do. The person in here could be someone you know, or someone who wants to hurt you. Maybe they want to rob you and steal your car? What if they kill Jeff? What if there are multiple of them? What will you do? What if you need to kill someone? A living person? You couldn't focus your eyes on one thing in the store, and your ears were picking up every noise imaginable inside and outside of the building. Crouching down you slowly stepped out of the store and sat on the side of the car facing away from the road. Your heart was hammering, and your mind was racing at a million miles per hour.
Jeff had made his way between the intact fridge and a shelf. On the opposite side of the shelf were two people. One shorter than the other, talking loudly. "I swear I heard someone come in dude."
"It was probably some animal." The other dismissed and continued to pack his backpack. Jeff turned his head towards where you were supposed to be, and you were nowhere to be seen. His teeth were grinding together in anger. He told you to listen to him. You're lucky to be here with him right now. He held his anger silently trying to come up with a plan.
"I don't know man, I think I heard talking- or arguing. It's freaking me out though." This guy on the right, the taller one, was a wreck. Crumbling under the pressure he is creating for himself.
"Look, we cleared this area and it looks abandoned now. They were probably just passing by. No one came in, we would have heard it." Jeff grabbed a can off the shelf, it was a small can of tomato sauce and threw it as hard as he could at the car windshield hoping the draw the tall one out. In an instant, the glass shattered and the alarm went off. And outside came a little yelp, most likely from you. Jeff swore to himself due to your stupidity.
"See?! I'm going to look." The tall one brought a gun that was hidden from his view. It was an assault rifle, the sight brought a feeling of dread over Jeff. He may have picked a fight that could end in a near fatal injury. But he would still win. The tall one came out from around the shelf, not checking his corners and too confident with his buddies alertness of no one being inside with them.
You were sat outside still leaning on the same car that now had it's alarm blaring right in your ears. Frozen with your ears covered and eyes wide at the forest line in front of you. Not a dense one but it had enough trees to be called one, your eyes danced on the trees. Counting them slowly to match your breathing, you wanted to calm down quickly, but in the end that was causing you to panic even more. What was going on in there? You hadn't heard anything until now, and now you actually can't hear anything other than the alarm. With your eyes still on the trees a couple yards ahead of you, you notice some movement. Now focusing fully on that you see that there is a zombie coming out of the trees, very slowly towards the loud bright white target with flashing lights you were leaning on.
The tall man that Jeff was watching had the gun pointed up and pointing towards the car, all Jeff could do was bet on the possibility that you were completely hidden from view. The short one on the opposite side of the shelf was also alert now, facing the opposite way of the noise away from his friend. Jeff shot his arm through the shelf and grabbed the back of the man's head and slammed it on the shared shelf, then took his knife to the man's temple and pierced the skull. His eyes relaxed and clouded over with death. Jeff's heart started racing and he retracted his knife from the skull letting the body collapse, his head hit 3 other shelves on the way down and slammed hard on the tile.
"Yo man what the FUCK!" The tall one was pointing his gun at Jeff, "Dude what- you did that- Your face.." His words were jumbled and he could not form a coherent thought. The one he killed must have been someone he knew well.
"What? Did I kill your boyfriend?" Jeff brought his hands up and chuckled. This angered the man and he came a little closer, emphasizing with his shoulders that he had a gun aimed at Jeff. "Aww, sorry."
"Sorry? Sorry!?  That was my brother, man." He cried.
"That doesn't change anything for me." Jeff said without care. Behind the gunman, you were slowly coming out from around the car. You saw the man pointing a gun, the dead body, and Jeff standing with a wicked grin on his face along with the cut one. You wanted to warn him about the oncoming mob, about the noise drawing it. But you didn't want to risk death, you reached into your bag and felt around for your knife he gave you before the two of you left but felt nothing other than the water bottle. The metal water bottle, it wasn't huge in any way, it was probably the same size as a regular plastic bottle. But still had weight behind it, you put your bag down outside and took the bottle with you. Trying to steady your heart from the adrenaline, you took a deep breath. The alarm was covering the sound of your shoes hitting the milk covered ground.
Jeff wanted to see if you could take him down. The man was taller than he was which was no impressive feat, but still gave an advantage. Looked to be well built, but it was hard to tell with the clothes he had on, and it looked like he knew how to shoot thr gun. Or at least hold one properly. You slowly stood behind him, now being blocked by the gunman and almost out of Jeff's sight aside from your legs. Your hand appeared above the man's head holding a metal bottle and it came down hard on the back of his skull, loosening the grip on the gun and he stumbled forward.
This gave Jeff enough time to grab the man's arm and stabbed him up through the chin and into his brain.
"Oh my god." Your hands were shaking and you dropped the bottle, bringing them up to your mouth to cover it. A sick feeling washed over you like a wave, and your ears were ringing. You looked to Jeff for something. Any sign of anything. Just that this was real.
"It was us or them." Jeff grabbed the gun off the body and handed it to you. "You are going to learn to shoot this." He handed you an M4 off the dead mans body, the largest gun you've ever held was your pistol and this was heavier. And the weight brought you back to reality, the alarm was still going off and you turned back towards the car. You quickly opened the door and opened the hood of the car,
"Cut the battery!" You yelled at him. And he stood in place, you scoffed. Of course. "There is a hoard. On its way, and will be here any minute. Will you cut the fucking wires on the battery?!" He groaned and reluctantly got up to cut the wires. You got out of the car and back into the store, the door of the car was big enough to nearly completely block entry from the hole in the wall. You were trying to come up with a way to divert the mobs attention outside, and away from the store. The main door into the store was blocked by an empty shelf, there was most likely a back door that you haven't seen so the only entrance and exit was now blocked.
"Why are you just standing there? Aren't you gonna help me?" Jeff had been looting the store filling his bag with food, water and batteries. He kept glancing over to you, he could almost hear the gears turning in your head for how hard you were thinking.
"Why are you just looting? Aren't you gonna help me reinforce this hole?" You didn't even look at him when you retorted. He watched as you made your wat h back to the car door you left open to grab your bag from outside, then grab displays to enforce the main entrance of the building. "If we are lucky it will pass and go...straight into the neighborhood." You groaned and pressed your palms to your eyes. "To my house." You crouched down and groaned a little louder then stood and sighed. Jeff turned his attention away from you and to the sound coming from the back of the store. You didn't seem to notice. He slowed his movements to make sure it wasn't him. He heard some shuffling and a gasp.
"Put the gun down." He heard a deep voice speak lowly. "We can talk it out. Look look, I have some food. And I have a- Okay okay okay!" He didn't hear you say anything at all. He slowly made his way over to where he last saw you. You were aiming down at a man who was kneeling with his arms up over his head and his bat on the ground. Jeff came up behind the man, ready to stab him through the top of his head. He could feel himself getting giddy at the thought. The blood would rush out like a little sprinkler.
"Don't kill him." The man whipped his head around to meet Jeff, and he stumbled backwards towards you, the one holding the gun and still pointing at him. Steady.
When this man came up behind you, your first instinct was to hold the gun eye level. He instantly dropped to the ground and dropped his weapon, you weren't going to kill him. You couldn't do that to him, he was pleading for you to save him. Maybe thinking you two could start a group together. Or he was going to rob you. Maybe kill you, or worse. He could be a good distraction. You thought of maybe shooting him somewhere non lethal like his leg and using Jeff to scare him to run. Would you even be able to do that? It would also get the zombies back on course inside the building. But now looking at his fear without being hurt it might be easier than you think.
"W-where are my friends?" You looked up at Jeff and he just nodded to you, letting you handle the situation. He was quivering in fear at your feet.
"He killed them." You deadpanned at the mess on the ground, his head turned towards you then back at Jeff.
"W-what?" His face went pale, and he looked lost.
"You can either end up like them or get the fuck out of here." You kicked walked up to his bat and kicked it back to him, never taking the guns sight off of him. "Your choice." You didn't know that holding a gun to someone would be so, invigorating, having this power over someone so cowardly. He gathered his things and struggled to stand.
"Leave the bag." Jeff ripped the bag out of his hands and took a place next to you and started going through the bag. You couldn't believe this was happening, that you were actively mugging someone. Us or them. You repeated in your head from earlier. The man started walking towards the back where he came from.
"You should follow him just in case." You whispered and nudged Jeff towards the direction he went. And, he listened to you. He followed the man to the back, you heard a loud metal door open and groaning echoed into the main part of the store. And then screaming.
Jeff came back around the corner and looked...proud. "What is that look for?" You shifted uncomfortably in your space and placed the gun on your shoulder to turn your attention to the shelf next to you. Back to what you were doing before you sent a man to his death. Oh god what have you done? You had a moment of realization, he just was sent to the worst death.
"You know for also being on the receiving end of you pointing a gun, you had much more... confidence, this time." He pat your back and went back to the aisle he was looting.
"But I feel wrong." You sighed, Jeff gave a loud 'ha' in response.
"You think there is any wrong in the world now? That guy was going to die any way. And so would've these two. You can kill as many people as you want and not have to suffer any consequences anymore. It's us or them." Us or them. "That wrong feeling you're feeling. That shit will pass. And if it doesn't just don't go sharin' that sad shit with me. I've been through it and do NOT want to relive it." You went back to looting, trying to ignore the screams outside and the banging on the door.
The two of you had run back to your car throwing everything you could into it, two full backpacks as well as cases of water and beer. "This should be fine, plus the food back home, we have a lot of food. Especially if we share and ration." You snuck the word share in. Hoping that after this he would respect you enough to share supplies with.
"I have enough food, and you have enough food. We are not sharing." You went to the driver seat and started the car, after he closed the back door and was done putting his bag in. You reversed the car so he couldn't get in. "What the fuck?" You heard him yell. He tried to get the door again and you did it again. On your left you could see a zombie coming from around the corner of the store. "Are you gonna let me in?" The doors were locked and he tried opening the door again. "Oh you're just going to let me die to some zombies? Gonna let me get torn up like that jackass?" The zombie was creeping closer, you could see panic wash over him then just as quickly as it showed it vanished and was masked in anger. "What do you want."
"I want you to realize we are going to have to be a team." He held his knife so that he could hit the window with the end of the handle, but before he made contact you reversed and honked your horn. "Say you will share!" You rolled down the window and yelled at him.
"Are you fucking insane?!" The herd of zombies was now focused on Jeff, one was coming up from around the hood of the car. He grabbed its shoulder driving it's head into his knife and then slaming the body onto the car. "Fine. Yes. I'll share with you." You unlocked the car and told him to get in, as soon as he sat down you turned the car around and drove off back home. In silence.

Regarding my heading down an unfinished road... I found it on Google Street View.
So these are from a year ago.
Tumblr media
This is the lane I drove down.
Tumblr media
And this is the section where I realized, "Oh shit, I ain't supposed to drive here."
I used generative fill to update these images to what they looked like on the day of embarrassment.
Tumblr media
Looking back, there were a few cones. But all of the "do not enter" signs were gone and I think it would be perfectly reasonable to assume you could drive here. I think other people may have avoided it because they drive in this area regularly. I drive maybe once or twice a month.
And here is what the dead end looked like with a year of construction progress.
Tumblr media
(It is scary how close generative fill matched this to my memory of it.)
I was really confused when I got to this point. I wasn't sure if I should try backing up or turning. I thought the gravel was okay to drive on, so I pulled forward and started a u-turn. But there was a sharp drop-off from the road to the gravel section I couldn't see and that was very jarring. And the gravel was not fit for driving on. So I kicked up a ton of dust and passers-by were all "WTF are you doing?"
Hell, I was like "WTF are you doing?"
I have a feeling this memory will join a few other embarrassing moments that pop into my head right before I try to fall asleep.
It wasn't my fault, but yeah, I hate driving around here.
It feels like the highway construction in this area is endless. It's been going on for years and it never feels like any progress is being made.
They closed off 3 highway exits for streets that contain a lot of local businesses. One of them leads straight to Ferguson. And if you don't know to exit onto a side road ahead of these areas, you'll just pass them by. So people from out of town who might be looking for a place to eat or shop could easily drive past these areas.
I feel sad for my community. Big franchises are closing up shop. There is no pizza place that directly delivers to my area. When your last pizza place closes up, that's when you know your community is in trouble.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
If anyone around here wants pizza delivered you have to spend a ton to have it DoorDash'd in from another area.
And it all started with a "white flight" epidemic. They even made a documentary about it called Spanish Lake (my township). There was a failed housing project nearby and a lot of poor Black folks started moving to Spanish Lake afterward. Then some scummy real estate people took advantage and it all snowballed from there...
"The 1990s saw a mass exodus of the white population, spurred on by blockbusting, a practice some U.S. real estate agents use to encourage white property owners to sell their houses quickly at a loss, implying the African-Americans moving into their neighborhood will depress their property values."
Apparently blockbusting is the new red lining.
The "controversy" section on Wikipedia sums up the movie pretty well.
Tumblr media
I started following a Facebook page dedicated to Spanish Lake, thinking it would be other folks in my community. I thought maybe I could get to know my neighbors.
Instead, it is all of the white people who moved away reminiscing about how great Spanish Lake used to be.
Tumblr media
People in this group are trying really hard not to say the quiet part out loud.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Riff raff?
Scot, I think you dropped this...
Tumblr media
I grew up here. I still live here. I love my house and my street. There are some areas that could really use some help, but if you live here, you know the few small pockets to stay away from. I have no issue walking up and down my street at night without fear.
They also mourn the loss of the businesses that closed because they abandoned the area.
There is the mall which will be officially demolished soon.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And, yes, it is the spooky mall from that viral video.
youtube
There was the movie theater... at the mall.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There was the Aloha Roller Rink.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Which now looks like this.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And the burger joint.
Tumblr media
The pizza place.
Tumblr media
And the other pizza place.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Saullo's was okay.
Angelo's in the next town over is better. And still in business!
Tumblr media
What was I talking about?
Oh, yeah. Don't drive down unfinished roads!

I AM ASKING YOU ABOUT YOUR ZOMBIE AUS 🤲🤲🤲🤲 I WANT TO HEAR ABOUT THEM !!!!!!!!!!!! i looooove a good zombie au
HOORAYYY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
okok so both my riptide and pd one are heavily inspired by two different zombapoc video games,, being telltale's walking dead video games and the last of us. buuut i've put a lot of original thoughts and ideas into them and i. love them so much ^__^
the riptide one is pretty messy but the PD one is the one im prouder of :D (both AUs have heavy spoilers for both campaigns)
Riptide
-basically, this AU is inspired by the dynamic of Lee and Clementine from the first walking dead game, but it's branched out a lot further than that.
-at the start of the zombie apocalypse, Arlin teamed up w/Drey and Finn under Captain Rose, and they all formed a lil survivor group (rest of the black rose pirate are there too-- minus chip.)
-when the trio's scavenging through a neighborhood, Chip manages to steal from them, and Arlin's the first one to catch him. Chip, being himself, thinks Arlin is insanely cool and basically makes him adopt him.
-essentially the entire AU follows Arlin trying to find Chip's parents, while Rose is moving the group north through the city to reunite with his lover (and external evidence points to Chip's parents potentially being up North too, in one of the big survivor bases).
-all is fine until, yk. zombies attack them. but these are more distorted, creepier zombies, and they work in more of a coordinated spooky hivemind instead of being the typical braindead zombies as is typical of twd/twd-inspired stuff.
-rest of it vaguely follows the plot of the hole in the sea but. zombies.
-essentially, ten or so years later, Chip appears in Featherbrooke, a navy-ran (the navy still exists here don't ask) base that Jay lives in. And then it's like Origins but. zombies.
-Chip convinces Jay to join him on the road while also talking big about how he's out searching for the old Black Rose group, and is also convinced that Finn Tidestrider could create a cure for the zombies.
-gillion fucking Shows Up.
-etcetc. stuff happens.
-basically, the dynamics here are heavily inspired by the TWDG series, but grew and branched out etc. Chip and Arlin are kind of inspired by Clementine and Lee,, Chip and Ollie are kind of like Clementine and AJ,, etc.
-also. Drey is immune. He gets bit the last time that Chip ever sees him which is why Chip thinks that he's dead, but. nope ^__^ this is also why he's kept in prison by the navy, but also kept largely a secret.
-The Ferins in general in this au are all entirely fucked up and have weird connections to immunity/resistance against. becoming zombies.
^^^- Jay got sent out with Chip as a spy because he kept talking about Finn and finding a cure (+ Jayson also has the knowledge of Drey, etc.) and basically, Jayson thinks that finding a cure could help cure Ava, who died to a zombie bite around 5 years ago.
PD
I ACTUALLY HAVE A LONGFIC OF THIS ONE IN THE WORKS. BUT IT'S TAKING ME A SECOND. it's inspired by TLOU but my TLOU knowledge is actually pretty lackluster </3
-basically, the barebones of this AU is that it's TLOU. Mark is like Joel, Dakota is like Ellie, and Ashe is like Sarah.
-Instead of straight up zombies, it's demons.
-Superpowers and superheroes still exist in this AU, but they are definitely pretty different.
-The apocalypse started when Ashe summoned the trickster, killing their mother etc., but wasn't able to push the trickster back. The chaos zone opened which caused the world to fall to ruin.
-People live in safe zones put together by WATCH, and are all heavily discouraged from leaving due to the. yknow. posessions.
-William is "dead" at the modern day of the AU. He and Ashe were friends before the end of the world, but William was killed by Ashe/The Trickster.
-The closer parallel to Riley is Katori/"rooftop girl",, this part of Dakota's backstory is still pretty similar.
-The AU actually starts when Mark is tasked by Overlord to smuggle "cargo" across Prime, said cargo being Dakota.
- The Overlord is doing all that weird human experimentation shit like in canon, but this time is trying to combine human and demon DNA for the purpose of finding a "cure"/ a way for people to resist being posessed.
-Here's my favorite part of this AU. Dakota is immune to being possessed by demons cause he literally just fucking eats them. This is only possible because of fucking Fartbo i hate it here
-Anyways, William suddenly wakes up alive after being dead for 20 years at the start of the AU. He sees a wisp guiding him and follows it.
-Around the same time, Vyncent still got isekai'd. As one does. Cantrip robbed him on his first day in Prime because I think that's funny.
-Tide is a hero in the Rockfall safe zone, who adopts and mentors Vyncent and William when they first show up.
^^ okok i have. more of the AU planned out from here but since i plan on turning it into a fic pretty soon i dont want to talk more about it past this point cause. i have a really cool plot idea that i dont wanna spoil ^__^

road sign
When Charlie realizes what just happened, the first thing he sees is a road sign.
It’s a yield sign. Not a stop sign. A yield sign. This neighborhood is full of them. It’s the neighborhood that he grew up in. That they grew up in. Him and Sadie and Sam. Their friends, too, if you could count them as Charlie’s friends. He’s thirty-three years old, and he’s still not quite sure about that.
He remembers how much he used to hate the yield signs in this neighborhood. He thought they were dangerous. Noncommittal. It’s not a full stop. It’s an optional half-a-stop and only if there’s a car coming. He remembers how Sadie used to plead with him.
It’s never optional, Charlie, she would say. You always have to yield. If you go through a yield sign, you build up bad habits, and you could end up hurt.
Nah, he won’t, Sam would say, always behind the steering wheel, always carefully minding the yield signs, especially in the wintertime. I promised him I’d drive him wherever he needed to go. He doesn’t need to know all the ins and outs. Just that he’s covered.
Sadie would always mutter something about how Charlie was taken care of better than most fairytale princes, and Charlie would sit back and think about how lucky he was to have Sam. Sam’s promises are better than anything. He never breaks them, no matter how silly they are. No matter how impractical.
Sam.
He was driving. He yielded. He always does. It’s his thing. When Sam sees a yield sign, he yields, just like they taught him to at that weird driving school up the block from here. They just went past it. The one with a name like a Greek god. Hercules? No, that’s not right. It should be right. Why can’t he remember what happened on his own block?
Where is Sam?
It takes Charlie way too long to realize Sam is probably in the car. Or maybe he already knew. He just didn’t want to turn his head and see …
All that glass.
All that blood.
And Sam’s face against the dashboard, not quite lifeless.
Charlie screams in a way he didn’t think his lungs could handle. The radio station switches from Bobby Helms to Nat King Cole.
And he waits until the red and blue lights overtake the warm twinkling gold of Christmas porch lights all around him.
(part of @nosebleedclub poetry month challenge -- day 12! yes, i know it's may now. no, i'm not sorry.)

⸻ peter gadiot, 35, cis male, he/him // in the MASONBORO neighborhood of Wilmington, you’ll find GAVIN ROBLES who’s lived there for FOUR YEARS and they spend their days working as the OWNER OF THE HIDEAWAY. They’ve been described as COURAGEOUS, RESOURCEFUL, RESENTFUL, AND MERCURIAL by the people that know them. This is his story.
“Every time I think maybe I’m heading in the right direction, I end up in a place I never even knew could feel this bad.”
triggers: car crash, alcohol and drug addiction
As a child, no one thought of their dreams realistically, or at least that would be Gavin’s argument. Never did he see his dreams, whichever one he ended up sticking with and pursuing, amount to anything. They were always these big ideas and something of grandeur and escape, since it also seemed that all kinds pretty much thought their hometown was boring. His first attachments to hobbies and likes were all things automotive, starting with collecting toy cars then building model cars and eventually working in the garage alongside his father. Gavin and his father got along best when they had a project they were working on together, and when his dad heard that he was interested in being a racecar driver someday they got into building go karts. He raced as a young teen and eventually grew into bigger vehicles as he grew along with his talent behind the wheel.
The graduate from karting was FIA Formula racing, and it was his biggest ticket out of the small town quaint life that Wilmington offered Gavin. He was fortunate to travel around the states and even a few stops outside with his success in karting but with Formula racing everything became a bigger and grander scale. Gavin kept winning and it seemed as though there was no stopping his rising star until a crash during his chase for his second Formula 1 championship nearly took his life. The recovery process and the time it took not only for his body to heal but also his mind was costly, and Gavin never made it back that season. His attempt the following year was a near disaster as his mind simply wasn’t right for racing anymore. Gavin couldn’t shake the newfound claustrophobia he had being in the tight driving space of the car, and he couldn’t get past the panic attacks he would sometimes have — even in the middle of a race. It all prompted him to take time off, go back to karting and working on builds, rather than continuing to force his dream of greatness.
It was another year before Gavin made it back to any kind of real racing circuit, only it wasn’t Formula 1 that he returned to. He began sports car racing and challenging for championships yet again. Success would be found and Gavin would win not one but two world championships before it would all be torn from him yet again with another horrible crash during a race. The road to recovery was difficult once more but even more so to his mind and spirit when the doctors advised he not race again, for damage done to his body and his head. His family and then girlfriend convinced him to take the doctors earnest requests in giving it all up, telling Gavin that he could manage a team or train other drivers. That he could open a garage and build custom cars and karts. Not being able to live his dream anymore and do what he loved had a dark effect on him, with a broken spirit and an unfortunate addiction to pain pills he began to drink too much. It took his girlfriend leaving him for Gavin to enter into rehab and try to make something of the shambles of his life.
There was a lot to regret and a lot of mistakes made because of his addictions, but he had one thing he could turn to and that was music. When he was a kid his uncle taught him how to play guitar and Gavin had fond memories of them sharing music together. Playing and writing music helped him in his darkest times and he had no desire to play in a band or perform, no desire to make anything of his own music. It was all personal enjoyment for him but with the money sitting in his bank account he decided to open up a blues club back in his hometown once he had returned from rehab. He named it The Hideaway for too many reasons, likely obvious ones but it was something for him to do and music had a way of soothing the demons that laid under the surface. Despite his faults, his addictions and the way his broken spirit can lay out onto other people, the blues club has become successful and gives Gavin a bit of meaning.
