i havent posted love for acne scars in a minute so heres a 2024 reminder that acne scars are rlly fucking pretty! theyre like freckles+! you get unique starmaps AND topography! your scars look like nebulas dotted with stars, they look like the face of the moon. acne does not make you dirty and when ppl talk abt how cool and pretty scars are we need to include acne scars!

#i was an ugly kid (I struggled with cystic acne since i was 7). the other kids would call me a witch.#i took a drug to get it under control (and i still get acne in my late 20s...)#one of the weirdest experiences when my skin got better was that people didn't recognize me (superman effect is real)#this girl who was my friend started talking mad shit about me (the ugly kid); not knowing it was ME (she didn't know me back then).#i didn't tell her because i felt like shit about it#i am considered pretty but my face is very scarred around the temples and forehead. my first boyfriend made me feel like shit about it#he freaked out. he also tried to coerce me but i didn't care enough for him.#i think it's why i like monsters so much. i felt like one in my early life. and it's whiplash that people want to like me now.#i used to be very insecure about my scars. but my brother told me i looked like the boy from little monsters (the 80s movie)#it's a monster hiding under a child's stretched skin#and i liked that. feeling like an actual monster made me own it and feel better about it. lmao#and i also started liking that i have a witchy face#this was brought to you by a poll that made me think of my experiences with pretty privilege and ugliness#vent

I am in my thirties why do I still get acne like I'm 16 despite washing my face, chest, back, neck and arms with acne wash frequently.

now that i no longer have insanely crazy acne i am discovering that i actually have freckles. very very subtle freckles to where you cant really see them unless youre me staring at myself up close in the mirror but still

#negativity cw#menstruation cw#looks like dry peeling skin on my face is a new pms symptom 🙄#I mean I’ve always had dry skin there#but in the last 1.5 weeks it’s gotten really bad#like after taking a shower my face would feel not just dry but painful#and the skin all around my mouth and nose would be peeling and flaky#couldn’t wear concealer for days because it would just dry out my face even if I moisturized underneath#so I just went to work w my acne scarring#good thing I connected it with other PMS symptoms and I didn’t buy any new moisturizers or foundation#now that my period is here the flakey peeling has stopped#thinking back this also happened about a month ago during my last cycle#I am wondering if this new symptom is indicative of some hormonal something or other#at least I can wear concealer again

#well actually that kind of is relevant bc ive been trying to find more info abt tattooing keloid prone skin#which is effectively opting to wound urself. but everywhere is just like if ur keloid prone ummm. Don't do it 👍#theres not enough known abt keloids to predict if theyll be triggered or not by the healing process like it depends on so many things#i mostly get them from acne scars. but they dont always immediately appear sometimes its weeks or months after#n once u get them theyre permanent. treatments for them have a 100% rate of recurrence n will grow back bigger if u try to excise them#and they cant be tattooed over like other scars bc they dont hold ink n the irritation can cause them to get bigger too#it depends a lot on the tattoo artists skill/experience ig like u have to know Exactly how deep ur tattooing + how the wound will heal#bc if healing triggers keloids. well ill just end up with permanent scarring instead theres nothing i can do if it happens#which honestly might still look cool but its unpredictable bc they tend to extend past the original wound. n it wouldnt scar uniformly#urgh. i should probably talk to a gp n an actual tattooist abt it. i could ask to get like a rly small tattoo to test how my skin reacts#pointless thinking abt rn anyway cuz im not gonna get one any time soon i have some other shit to sort before that#but it would be so frustrating if i cant i have so many tattoo ideas i do rly want them.... :-(#ah well whatever.. im just procrastinating doing shit i need to crack on bc i cant spend another entire weekend doing nothing#after a month n a half of being on meds i feel like theyre becoming less effective. my task paralysis n focus is getting worse again :(#like its taking more and more effort its been rly noticeable at work. hoping its just bc of general mental health or poor sleep or smth#and not that im building tolerance or smth bc man. what else can i even do if that happens#this is gonna make me miserable to think abt so lets go do smth else!#at least i woke up feeling tons better today 💪💪💪 storm passed baby#.diaries

it's soooo funny when you get compliments on a stylistic choice you started doing out of laziness lmao
#if you look way back in my art tag you will see that i used to do almost exclusively pen and ink drawings with lots of crosshatch shading#then i started doing digital art and experimenting with color#and i quickly realized i did not like doing cell shading or blended shading in color so i did flat colors only#but it made my characters look kind of dead (i should go back and fix the one drawing of mal in a purple checked suit... he PALLID)#so i started adding in a lot of blush on the skin#(also i am a naturally flushed ruddy person to the point it looks like an allergic reaction sometimes so i know where it lays)#and also at one point i was drawing candi reclining and thought it would be fun if his tummy was lighter bc of spending so much time outsid#which a lot of my characters do because they work at a theme park and even using sunscreen they get a tan in the summer#and then i got a couple compliments on evie's tanlines and i was like ...oh people like that? nice. i have a signature feature#i also just like drawing people with more texture. since i'm not trying to boil designs down for comics there's more room for it#like i only relatively recently started drawing mal's five o'clock shadow and i think it makes him look cuter#i never posted my slight stevie redesign but they have a lot of moles and that's also very cute#and i've been trying to add in candi's acne scars
