Taking a moment this #BabyLossAwarenessWeek to think about all those who’ve been affected by pregnancy and baby loss. In this thread there are organisations and resources that are providing support and advice to families and loved ones who need it most.

Child Bereavement UK, @cbukhelp, offers a support helpline if you’ve been affected by child bereavement at any time. Please do reach out if you feel it could help you or someone you know.

The @MMHAlliance brings together 120 organisations, raising awareness of mental health before, during and after pregnancy, whatever the outcome.

One of these is @SandsUK that supports anyone affected by the death of a baby, improve the care that bereaved parents receive, and create a world where fewer babies die.

The team at @Tommys support parents-to-be and research into miscarriage, premature birth and stillbirth. They have free resources available and, if you’re struggling, advise you to be kind to yourself and know support is available.

This past week has been baby loss awareness week and it's been tough to think back on how excited we were last May when we found out we were pregnant. It's been tough this last year and a half living each day thinking we should have our baby now. What's been the toughest part is the 2 year struggle trying to conceive before hand to only experience 3 months of pregnancy, and the year after trying again and getting no where. My heart aches to be able to see two pink lines on a test again.

I hope I never have to experience the heartbreak of pregnancy loss ever again.

About 1 in 4 pregnancies end in miscarriage. It's likely that someone you know has had a miscarriage. About 1% of people experience recurrent miscarriages - three or more miscarriages in a row. In the UK, 8 babies a day are stillborn. In many cases of pregnancy and baby loss, the cause is unclear. Pregnancy and baby loss is underresearched and underfunded. Pregnancy and baby loss remains a taboo topic. Even though it affects a quarter of pregnancies, it's seldom talked about due to stigma, shame and a lack of understanding. But the grief is real, and the sense of loss is real.
