it’s either a book turned into a movie or a movie with an official movie-based book. i have no idea which came first, but you can find a dramatic reading of the book here (WARNING: is a bit scary!!!!! watch with caution!!!!!!)

if you’re too scared to watch the video, that’s understandable, so i will simply explain in my own words: the babadook is a scary creature who scares kids AND adults (that’s right, not even grown-ups are safe from him), and the more you deny his existence, saying you’re “too old to be scared of him”, the more powerful he gets, and he possesses you into doing bad things or something like that.

basically: the bye-bye man (a newer horror movie -- “don’t say it, don’t think it”) meets some disturbed childhood drawing/imaginary friend. down to the ridiculous name that kinda ruins the whole thing. i’ve even taken to shamelessly mocking his name (bapduck, booblook, papahook, babybrook, babylon, baptism, etc.). that’d probably make him mad but don’t worry, he’s definitely not real. it’s just a movie/book/whatever it’s ok
