Well, now I'll try to describe it all..or at least something. I have a shared setting with my girlfriend and it takes place in an alternative Europe of the 19th century (mostly in Britain). The main group of characters are cryptid hunters. Hunters founded their guild, established their foundations, hierarchy and monetary relations with "commoners", who are most often customers for catching beasts that devoured livestock.

The main characters are hunters-partners: a tall, serious man from Scandinavia named Ryan (belongs to my gf) and a frivolous Romanian drinker Ardy (belongs to me).

They behave like a stereotypical couple who divorced 10 years ago, despite the fact that they have never been married. But now it's not about them, I just needed to mention them and the place of action so that you understand further information.

In addition to primitive cryptids that just eat cows or lure children into the forest, there are much more developed entities. People call them "angels" because they are of unknown origin, most often anthropomorphic in shape (but there are also completely fucked up), have appendages similar to wings, sometimes glow and convince not to be afraid of them. Angels know human languages and pretend to be "human" pretty well. To do this, they have a "real" appearance and a "formal appearance". This is necessary for them to live together peacefully, to explore the new world around them… or just eat people. Unfortunately, human meat is a mandatory product in their diet to imitate their appearance. But some of them eat people simply because they can (this is condemned by a considerable number of relatives). Some angels are so good at pretending to be homo sapiens that they hold high positions in human institutions.

One of these angels is Dr. Lee (a character of my gf, and her drawing of him). He is the head of a psychiatric hospital, which allows him to conduct experiments. Dr. Lee is obsessed with research on creating artificial life and crossing humans with angels to breed a new race.

He behaves more like a modeler of miniature ships made of 3,000 parts than a mad scientist. He considers the human race to be several steps lower in development, so he doesn't feel sorry for the patients in his asylum. But Lee understands perfectly well that he can't just throw away lives, so he has to keep an acceptable level of the institution in order not to arouse suspicion. Not the biggest fan of his own work, but proud of his latest "projects". The first project is a successful crossing of an angel and a human woman (under the name Lilith). The second project is the successful creation of artificial life, a homunculus named Franklin.

Franklin is currently the only successful homunculus created by the hands of Dr. Lee (where did the rest of the failed attempts go? nobody knows). He doesn't react to pain, performs immoral tasks without unnecessary questions and learns quite quickly (thanks to the collective mind). Unfortunately, his emotions and feelings are artificially suppressed, so it's hard for Franklin to realize sarcasm, humor, irony and other charms of complex human emotional intelligence. Homunculus doesn't know how to regenerate, but in this case, Dr. Lee has an ace up his sleeve - he relieves the previous body of suffering and creates Franklin anew, laying all the accumulated experience with the help of the collective mind.

Dr. Lee is not the only angel in the asylum. Zebedee also lived there for a while (despite Lee's attempts to kick him out). Zebedee is quite phlegmatic and passive, but this doesn't make him not dangerous. Under huge sleeves and baggy clothes, he hides his limbs with additional joints that he cannot shorten.

Zebedee is very ancient. He probably even remembers the Cambrian period. I think that's why he looks more like a prehistoric creature than something cosmic. He collects only the best from evolution. So he has a retractable jaw like a fish and amazing manipulative abilities like humans.

But there are also ordinary people in this institution. For example, intern Beatril Quincy. He had every chance to become a new ray of light in medicine, but addiction to opium and cocaine made him a scum. He doesn't disdain to steal laudanum from the shelves of medical offices and doesn't miss the chance to steal one of the bodies from grave diggers. All he wants is to get an opportunity to escape from the hospital he hates (which he eventually succeeds after being fired at Dr. Lee's asylum and suddenly getting a job as a guild doctor)

Actually, so far this is all I can tell you about the lore. In the future, there will be a clash between the hunter guild and Dr. Lee's hospital (but this still needs to be worked out better).
