Child in Time
Chapter 3
Warnings: none
Chapter 1: link Previous chapter: link Next chapter: link
This was, perhaps, the worst case scenario that in all his years and for all his knowledge, Harrison could never have predicted. For a man who was fairly used to knowing every variable ahead of time, it was jarring, unnerving. He felt inordinately shaken and could barely seem to hold his composure while Cisco, Caitlin, and Barry discussed what to do with the infant whose presence had sent him into a spiral of internal panic.
As soon as the discussion reached a point where the others were preoccupied, Harrison excused himself. He wheeled himself as calmly as he could down the hallways of S.T.A.R. Labs, his mind racing. His controlled exterior was beginning to crack and he couldn't afford that. Not now.
The entrance to the Time Vault slid open and Eobard entered, the doors sealing him in the private, secure space where he could drop the mask of Dr. Harrison Wells. He took a deep breath before standing, tossing his glasses haphazardly into the wheelchair seat, and crossing the room in two strides.
"Gideon," he called out, his voice tight.
"Good day, Dr. Wells." Gideon responded, her soothing, mechanical voice filling the room.
"Show me the future." Eobard said urgently, not interested in pleasantries.
"Certainly, Doctor."
Gideon's holographic face disappeared, a newspaper taking her place. Instead of the familiar headline 'Flash Missing: Vanishes in Crisis', the new headline was some dull article Eobard couldn't have cared less about if it wasn't for the fact that it wasn't meant to be there. He took a shaky breath, trying to quell his panic, and scrubbed his face with both hands.
"Run a complete search. Show any references to The Flash." Eobard said slowly, his chest suddenly very tight.
Fortunately, several smaller articles about The Flash dotted the space in front of him and Eobard regained the ability to breathe, bracing himself on the dais in front of him as he examined them closely. The future was...mostly in tact, it seemed. For now.
"Bring up my log, Gideon." Eobard said finally, taking a step back from the pedestal and crossing his arms, trying to regain some semblance of composure.
"Certainly." Gideon said and the list of entries appeared instantaneously. "Go ahead, Doctor."
"New entry: it has now been…" Eobard paused, looking at his watch. "372 days since lightning struck. Subject has brought an infant to the past from the distant future without considering how that could impact said future. This is, admittedly, unsurprising given his impulsivity but, nevertheless, concerning. At present, Subject remains The Flash and I have yet to experience any potential negative side effects as a result, but it has only been three hours since the infant's arrival. I expect more challenges to arise the longer he remains here."
Eobard paused, running a hand through his hair. This damned baby  - his younger self - threatened to unravel everything he had meticulously planned, everything he had worked for for the last 15 years. He exhaled a shaky breath, but the tension didn't leave his body. He couldn't afford to be complacent. The presence of this infant was a ticking time bomb and he had to neutralize it before it exploded.
"Gideon," Eobard said again, interrupting his log. "Show all references to Eobard Thawne."
"Zero references to Eobard Thawne." Gideon said, and Eobard felt the panic begin to seep in again.
"Show any references to The Reverse Flash." Eobard demanded.
"Zero references." Gideon repeated.
"Look again."
"Zero references." Gideon said once more.
"Look again." Eobard growled, his frustration and fear boiling over.
"I've searched 3,452 times, Dr. Wells. There's nothing."
Eobard took a deep breath to ground himself. He couldn't afford to lose control now, not when everything was so precarious, but the knowledge that he could disappear at any moment was a very known, very real threat that left him mentally spiraling. He couldn't afford to panic. He had to maintain control. The baby was a threat, yes, but he could handle it. There was no other choice.
"Log entry continued," Eobard said, turning back to the holographic interface. "In order to return the timeline to its intended state, I will maintain close observation of Subject's interactions with the infant, assess and evaluate potential threats to the timeline, and take all necessary actions to mitigate the inevitable changes. Subject must not be allowed to be alone with the infant for any length of time."
Eobard turned away, returning to the wheelchair and making his way out of the room. He couldn't let this infant destroy everything he'd worked for. He had come too far, sacrificed too much. He would find a way to fix this. He had to.

Nobody look at me idk how or why because human AUs of the canon DCA are not my thing and I straight up told at @wyervan that the slasher boys scare me when I was working on the fanzine layout but I
let's just say I'm very very much out of writing block cause I'm already plotting some more. Thanks for reading this over before I posted it Wyervan. As promised there's a tiny present at the end for you.
A long, hard poke from the business end of a baseball bat wakes Moon from his nap. He grabs it before he can be poked again, moving to sit up. An endeavor made more fraught by the surprise stowaway in his hoodie digging her claws into the thin material of his t-shirt. One arm moves to cradle said interloper, the other keeping the bat at bay. “What?”
“You scared me!” The bat jerks free to gently bop the top of his head, Ellis’s voice pitched half an octave too high and their face flushed. When Moon grabs at the bat again, they pull protectively back. “Why are you in my bus?”
“Better place to nap.” Moon ducks in the small space as he sits up fully. “Better company too.”
Ellis’s confusion is partially masked by their tinted glasses. Moon answers by fishing the purring bundle of void out from under his hoodie, amber eyes giving Moon a wounded look at her eviction. “Oh! Eos, c’mere baby girl.” The cat changes arms, and Moon’s able to relax with the bat safely out of the way, the tension in his shoulders reducing fractionally. Ellis has chosen to ignore him entirely, face buried in Eos’s fur and mumbling nonsense.
Moon remains seated on the edge of the bed, unable to reach an escape point (window that actually opens, the emergency exit on the roof, the main bus doors at the very front) without squeezing past Ellis and making far more bodily contact than could be considered strictly professional.
Then again, he had broken into their home to sleep. Even if said home is a converted school bus.
The bus is a teal monstrosity that has made its home at the far corner of the admittedly small arcade parking lot, a DIY project Ellis affectionately called Big Sue for reasons yet unknown. The beast’s taken Ellis from coast to coast before breaking down here. Ellis had asked for a job in exchange for the parking space and enough for repairs. Just enough to keep going, they’d promised. One, maybe two months top. That’d been five months ago.
“Okay.” Ellis lifts their face from where Eos had been industrially grooming their hair, glasses shoved lopsidedly on their forehead. The absurdity of the look doesn’t take away from their smile. “If you’re here, you’re helping.”
“Helping?” Ellis leans past Moon to let Eos loose on the bed, close enough that he can smell the fresh piney scent of their soap — the same smell trapped in their pillow and blankets he’d nested in before passing out. He can’t move without getting in the way, but Ellis is out of his space just as quick, watching him with hands fisted loosely against their hips.
“Helping with dinner. You broke into my home and nearly gave me a heart attack. This is how you pay me back.” When Moon doesn’t move, Ellis grabs his hands, their grip offering no counterargument. Moon lets Ellis pull him upright and drag him to the sink to wash up.
Ellis clearly doesn’t have the same reservations about personal space as Moon, constantly squeezing behind him in the narrow walkway as he’s tasked with prepping the veggies, okra and bell peppers and onions and more. It’s not until he’s feeding Eos a stray shrimp and Ellis is stirring in garlic that something clicks.
“You’re the one that’s been cooking for us.” Moon’s voice is almost accusatory. He stands, stealing their spoon to point at them to finish the accusation. The sauce drips, a furry dark shape twining her way between their legs to lick the floor clean.
Ellis steals the spoon back, pointing it back at Moon. “And you didn’t know?” Their aim is off, poking Moon in the cheek and leaving a smear of brown and grit. “Oops.” Their serious expression breaks all too quickly. “You can’t tell  me you really didn’t know.”
Moon’s own face doesn’t change, but his eyes slide off Ellis and to the gently bubbling pot of jambalaya busily making the whole bus smell delicious and Cajun. “You never signed your notes.”
“I didn’t think I needed to. You think that Star or that half-feral dude you guys keep letting into the break room can cook?” Ellis turns, ripping off a fresh paper towel from the roll kept by the stove. “Bend down.”
“Still never signed.” Moon doesn’t move, so Ellis drags him down by the hood. They’re not too much shorter than Moon or Sun, but the angle and closeness lets him see over their glasses and see the pale gray of their sclera. This close, he knows they can see the mottled texture of his skin and all the imperfections. They exhale. Their breath smells like menthol and tobacco.
“Maybe I should sign all my work moving forward.” They dab at his cheek before tracing his jawline with the corner of the paper towel. “Sign my face paint masterpieces right here. What do you think?” They meet his eyes and grin, and he straightens, the back of his neck growing hot even as he gives an answering sharp toothed smile.
“Probably not necessary. Just if you have other surprises in store.” Moon recovers the spoon where Ellis had left it and stirs the pot, the shrimp and okra appearing like icebergs in the reddish-brown roux. Ellis leaves him to it, pulling something new — cornbread — from their icebox.
It’s quiet save for the sound of cooking, bubbling liquids and metal scraping on metal as Ellis reheats the bread. Fingers ghost over Moon’s arm as they balance themselves on him, pulling out an extra bowl. Moon tries to protest, but they force him to sit at their narrow table, cleaning it of suspiciously striped and spangled fabric. Ellis serves him a bowl with a massive hunk of cornbread stuck in the corner.
They sit opposite, curling one leg against their chest as they tear their cornbread, using it to soak up the excess sauce. “You know, I don’t know a whole lot about you, given you were just asleep in my bed Moon. Is Moon even your real name?”
Moon shrugs an answer, copying the tear and soak method Ellis is using with his cornbread. “Don’t know a lot about you. Is Ellis your real name?” They laugh and stick out their tongue, Moon replying in kind. The mimicry makes them laugh harder, covering their mouth with one hand.
“Okay, fair enough.”
Moon switches to a spoon while Ellis continues to tear down their cornbread into increasingly smaller pieces. He glances at the counter.
“Okay, new question then. Can you guess where I’m from?”
The grin indicates this is a trick question. Moon mulls it over as he bites into a particularly spicy bite of sausage. “Florida.”
“Ew, no, why?” Ellis is coughing when Moon gives another shrug and smile. They roll their eyes in return. “I’m from Alabama you heathen.”
“Close enough.” That gets a kick in the shin from a steel-toed boot. Moon doesn’t flinch.
“If you knew anything about the South, you would not be saying that.” Now that he knows, there’s just a hint of that accent, the words hanging on a touch longer even as their speech remains relatively chipper. Ellis finally runs out of cornbread, forced to use their spoon at last. Moon’s bowl is already half empty. “Were you and Sun really clowns before?” A nod, and Moon feels a little head bumping his arm as Eos crawls into his lap to smell at his food. “You don’t really seem the clown type.”
“I don’t?” Moon quirks an eyebrow and now Ellis mimics him, but they do pause.
“I mean, obviously when you’re in character I can see it.” The next bit comes out in a rush. “I’m not trying to say you’re bad at clownery or anything.” There’s a metallic tink as they bite on their spoon, rushing to cut themselves off before they say something else stupid. It’s dark out now, and the light inside makes it all the harder to get a good read on their face. Moon remains quiet, and Ellis shifts, leg sliding down out of the seat.
“It’s just, you’re so much more chill than Sun is. If you asked me to guess what he was without seeing him in costume, I’d probably guess a discount Ronald McDonald.” That gets a laugh as Moon imagines just how Sun would react to that comparison. Maybe he’ll use it the next time Sun complains about how messy Moon gets during their second job. “And you’ve sharpened your teeth. That doesn’t seem very clown…y.”
“It doesn’t?” Moon’s grin widens and he’s satisfied to see Ellis is now the one made uncomfortable. Fair play and all that. “What about your ears?”
“What about my ears?” Their hand shoots up to touch one gauge, hiding the plain black disc self-consciously.
“Doesn’t seem very child care workery.” He gestures with his spoon. “Or the collar. Or the jacket.”
Too far, Moon realizes as Ellis shrinks into themself, hand moving down from their ear to the heavy leather jacket that dwarfs their frame. There’s a moment where he thinks he should apologize (why?) but Ellis straightens back up before he can process the fleeting feeling.
“Well, you knew what I was when you hired me,” they say, returning to their jambalaya. “And your teeth are pretty cool anyway. I don’t think I’d be brave enough for that intense of body mods.”
Moon swipes his tongue over his teeth. Cool huh? He scratches gently at Eos in his lap as Ellis turns the conversation to work, plans for the winter solstice and a wistful hope to visit the nearby state forest for a camping trip. To his surprise, Moon is invited. To the camping trip, and later, as Ellis is wrapping up the rest of the jambalaya and cornbread for Sun and himself, to nap in the bus again.
“Eos likes you,” they explain, and their gaze is back to their usual place, somewhere in the region of his chin and mouth. “And you popping up here will force me to keep the place clean.” They follow him to the door. “Just maybe tell me when you plan on it?”
“No promises.” Moon steps into the cold and looks down at the bowl in his hands. That… was definitely an odd interaction. He glances back at the bus when music starts to play. Punk, because of course it was. He goes for the car, debating what to tell Sun of what happened.
He’d keep the way their eyes changed when they smiled to himself for now.

also if you're curious what Ellis looks like since they are decidedly not a self insert but their own person...

Note
people thinking they're platonic doesn't bother me because at the least people should admit they're close friends and love eo the problem is when they go to jkk blogs to bother people
☝🏻 this exactly !!
Since AYS is released I saw many people using the term"Jikook". Its like a forbidden word to use publicly lol. Like you said people can think whatever they want, atleast some are acknowledging it now (I'm not talking about jkkrs ,but so called ot7) i feel so happy when they love or talk about jikook's bond, they felt it like a domestic thing or they felt like something. Bro this is the same thing, we jikookers are also telling you for years. Only difference is we wait till we get a proper evidence rather than posting lie or made up things...
Jikookers respect Jikook and their decision, thats where a huge difference! People are so nosy that they camp under jkkrs blog or post....but I can't blame them tho, that might be their coping process lol... editing, lying, mistranslating, teaching meaning of dongsaeng, brainwashing baby armys and charting Tkk aus and what not .... So pathetic, they are the curse of this fandom tbh !

This was super fun— and genuinely a great method to develop characters with!
Tumblr media
If given the ability to eat actual food instead of just getting her energy from the sun, water, and soil, Sen absolutely would crunch on raw coffee beans like they were a delicacy.
Kip canonically is able to use chopsticks better than Twig is, despite her having more human-like hands and Kip having flippers!
Twig definitely forgets to eat when stressed. It’s been an issue since she was a young human and Grovyle would have to nag her to eat more than a couple shriveled berries at a time when they were on the run.
There’s no social media in my PMD-verse, but in a Human AU? Yeah. Ark would be tumblr famous for being very strange in social interactions, very archaic in his vocabulary, and very endearing in his efforts to figure out how to run a blog. He’s the embodiment of “Saw a snail today… effervescent.”
In a Human AU Spindle is regularly terrorized by Gengar, who can do a spot-on Freddy Fazbear laugh impression, after he tells him how he binge-watched a bunch of YouTubers play the entire FNaF series over the course of three days straight and was terrified the entire time. Spindle is a FNaF lore expert and he is not happy about this.
Ruby would LOVE Claire’s in a Human AU. This girl looks like she’d be the perfect emo / goth kid, depending on what day you see her, and she’s too shy to wear the clothing options available at her store of choice, but she’s 100% bedazzling all of her backpack’s surfaces with pins and patches and keychains from Claire’s.
Opal and Ruby would share a Wattpad account where they post elaborate roleplay logs and fanfiction about each other’s OCs in a Human AU. They have three followers who are bots and they love them dearly, even turning them into OCs to join their self-inserts in adventures. A couple kids from school follow them as well but have no idea what on earth their stories are talking about, as they don’t make much sense to anyone outside the two sisters.
Necrozma is a deity beyond mortal comprehension. It’s not exactly that he’d cover for Litten if the time came, it’s that he’d intimidate anyone who came to confront his boy so badly that they’d turn tail and run without a word of explanation, much to his confusion.
Kitsune is a jock through and through. However, her favorite subject would be music class, and her favorite extracurriculars / clubs would be marching band and home economics.
Halcyon would LIVE in heels if she was a human. She’d never go anywhere without some new pair of highly elevated art pieces for shoes.
Deu has never stolen anything in his life because he’s terrified of the concept. He was once given a pamphlet by somebody advertising a traveling play that was coming into town and chased them down through a crowd to return it while crying.
Thanks for the tag @dreamsandrosies, this was amazing and I’d love to do it again sometime :> For my own tags—
@fujii-draws, @i-never-forgot, @aria-the-derg, @driftingballoons (I don’t know if you consider them OCs, but I’d love to see some headcanons for your Skitty and Treecko!), @oblonger, @onlyhereforghosttrick, @billycorn, and @stingraywipe! I’d love to see you guys do this, but no pressure if you’re not interested. Anyone else who’d like to give this a whirl, tag yourself and go for it!
I found this site that generates you a random headcanon.... How about we do that: you enter the name of a character (or your OC!), post what you got, and then comment on how true do you think it is for them!
Tumblr media
Not true. That was very easy.
Who's next!!! @judejazza @mcwentfandomtraveling @sh0jun @lorei-writes @groovylita @queengiuliettafirstlady @scummy-writes @ludivineikewolf @yarnnerdally @yanderepuck @vioisgoinginsane @venulus @fang-and-feather @leonscape @writingwhimsey @foreverxdaydreaming @keithsandwich @verynormaluser

This came out of the blue, as I don't usually do the de-aging AU. Don't ask me about the physics of it - something, something Fischler is an idiot. It's mostly about the the emotional reactions and ramifications. So, in a flash of explosion Scott is three... again. The family navigate their feelings about it, dealing with a confused child. Virgil and John discuss the what-ifs and what-nots. Scotty gets better eventually, or maybe worse... From a certain point of view.
A bow to @janetm74 , whose takes on the trope are always fascinating.
WAY LEADS ON TO WAY
It took some coaxing and a promise of pie to pry the child away from Virgil. Blue eyes, too big for the small face, were full of fear and reoccurring tears. The tiny body was trembling and skinny arms clung to Virgil's flanel shirt ever since the device blew up. Virgil didn't mind one bit, but they needed to run scans and tests making sure the boy... Scott was okay. Or as okay as could be, considering he was now about 25 years younger than should be.
Everyone froze as the boy asked for "Momma and Virgie" the first time and burst into tears. It, surprisingly, took Virgil's voice to dissuade the meltdown, as he was gleefully identified as "Dada" and got a little limpet attached to his torso. The flash of pain in Dad's, actual Dad's, eyes was not lost on either Virgil or Grandma. Virgil hugged the child closer, suddenly self-conscious.
Brains was already deep in the schematics of the malfunctioned device, confiscated earlier that day from a disaster site that happened to be one of Fischler's labs. Kayo was looking stormy, plotting possible bodily harm, although, knowing Fischler, not even enhanced interrogation could  yield reliable information on what happened and how to reverse the effects asap.
John watched Virgil with a now three year old Scotty, his expression unreadable. Eos was already tasked with simulations for reverse engineering the device. It being a Fischler's concoction, they couldn't risk hurting Scott as they would try to get him "back". Alan was shocked and looked a lot younger himself. Grandma hugged him with a reassuring word.
Gordon's natural skill with small kids proved handy, as he was quick to whip out Alan’s old toys from Neptune knew where and produced a heap of his own plushies. The little boy was suitably distracted and involved into play, making vroom-vroom noises with a dinosaur on a Lego plane. The window of calm didn't last long, though, as now little Scotty, obviously tired and confused, became cranky again and cried for Momma and Virgie. Virgil looked up at Dad, at a loss. The child obviously didn't remember much beyond being  'cotty, "this many fingers" old, Mom, and having a baby brother. Jeff, watching the boy with anguished yearning so far, as he got scared and ran to Virgil the first time around, stepped up again. The gruff words got the child shy at first, but Dad was patient explaining to Scotty "Momma and Virgie" were away on a long walk, so Scotty was left in charge at home, like a big boy. There's was a fair measure of tears in the rough gravel that strained Jeff's voice. All colors of eyes around were bright with tears too.
But the trick worked and after a moment of the tiny face frowning and considering more crying, Jeff was declared "Gan'pa!". The boy climbed into his lap, where he was now asleep, wrapped in Alan’s favorite childhood blanket. The small face relaxed from the strain and tears dried out - Scotty looked so sweet and happy.
It was decided to settle the child in Dad's room for the night. The infirmary, barren and unfamiliar, could scare him. And it would be more comfortable for Jeff to watch over the boy - a duty he vehemently refused to yield to any of his sons, who all volunteered readily. Gordon whisked Alan away for some brotherly soothing, as the kid was visibly shaken in the face of loosing biggest brother to the child he once was.
John squinted, eyes darting between Dad, doting and cooing over the tiny bundle of blankets, space-worn features softened and instantly younger too, and Virgil, clearly hesitant to leave. In the end, Jeff softly shooed the elder sons away - even at three Scotty had been a light sleeper.
John was headed to Brains' lab to assist with rebuilding the hapless device. Virgil tagged along, but for the moment they found themselves lingering in the dim hallway, outside of Dad's rooms. The events of the day were A LOT to absorb and to even begin to process. John caught Virgil stealing a glance back at the room, where the child was sleeping peacefully, deep in thought. John braced himself, as he was fairly certain he knew what his brother was thinking. As much as he knew he could never agree.
Virgil looked back, sadness mixed with hope in brown eyes.
"John, don't you think we should..."
"No!"
John didn't expect himself to yell and started, having to gulp down the rest of the protest, lest the child woke up. But Virgil was looking up at him, gaze already frantic with a fast assembling plan.
"I could adopt him! Or Dad. There won't be a legal problem! He's happy, Johnny! We can make sure he never gets hurt! Can you imagine?!"
Hope shone brighter over doubt in brown eyes, but John shuddered and stepped away from Virgil's reach. Because he COULD imagine. That pathway of probabilities was the first one through his mind, as a little boy crawled out of the dust and debris where their biggest brother was standing seconds ago. John COULD imagine. A Scott who had never held them all after Mom's funeral, a Scott, who never rocked Allie to sleep, crying for Mommy, a Scott, who never packed their lunches or picked them up from after-school clubs, because Dad was unavailable, floating in a sea of grief and work. A Scott they never lost to the horror of That Place. A Scott that never came back as a broken shell. A Scott that didn't give up every shred of himself to uphold Dad's legacy and step into Dad's shoes for them all. A Scott that wasn't blaming himself even now that Dad was back. A Scott that wasn't in pain. A Scott they could all see grow up and live a happy life he deserved.
John could see it all too well. It broke his heart to see Dad grasp at the impossible second chance to do right by the eldest son. He saw the eager plea in Virgil's eyes. And John near hated himself as every part of his soul was screaming in protest. Every selfish, terrified little brother part that was in agony at the prospect of losing the very foundation rock of their world - Scott the biggest brother, who loved them, and saw them, and cheered for them, and accepted them all for who they were, and shielded them in a world otherwise cruel and unyielding, a Scott who made sense of everything they were doing, of everything Dad was doing, even when they all drowned in hurt, grief, and resentment. A Scott who could tell them they could do it and they would believe it.
Making sure Scott got a chance at happiness meant loosing him for good. John squeezed his eyes shut against hot angry tears.
Virgil was still looking up at him, hesitant to offer unwarranted touch, and deeply worried. John took in a long stabilizing breath.
"Do you think... Do you think he'd want to never know us all, growing up?"
Virgil's face fell and John felt another pang of remorse.
As if on cue to that thought, the door to Dad's room slid open and tiny feet padded along the hallway. Virgil made a step to intercept the little fugitive, and crouched in front of the child, not to scare.
"What is it Scotty? Do you want some water?"
The boy was obviously drowsy from sleep, small hands rubbing the eyes.
"Wan'Virgie! Didn't say nite-nite t'Virgie! Where'Virgie?"
Big blue eyes were brimming with tears again, confused and desperate. Virgil picked up the feather-light frame and stood up, cradling the boy close and bouncing softly, whispering soothing nonsense to calm the child back to sleep. Brown eyes met a loaded gaze of the turquoise ones. Virgil knew John had a point. But it hurt to consider either way.
John stepped up closer, ruffling the boy's hair. Thunderbird Five, the Voice That Answers, was speaking now, but it was a brother's kiss on the child's temple:
"We'll help you find Virgie, Scotty! I promise! We'll help you get home! We've got you!"
The adult brothers exchanged another Look as the sniffles subsided and Scotty was falling asleep again.
John's comm pinged with a message from Brains. He got something on the device functions. It was quickly decided John would head to the lab. Dad obviously succumbed to the ever lingering fatigue and the stress of the day, so a woken up Scotty could escape. Virgil would stay in the lounge with the boy, watching over for more signs of distress or to mitigate more runaway attempts. Come morning, Gordon and Alan were to take over the babysitting duty. The villa was hopelessly NOT child-proof since Allie was past ten and Scotty's propensity for creative and agile jailbreaks was a significant part of family lore. Even if Brains was close to a reverse effect, they still would need to run tests and simulations, before even considering risking a child.
***
The last thing Scott remembered was a bright flash as the device he brought back for Brains to inspect heated up in his hands, vibrated and exploded. Now he was sitting flat on the floor in the hangar, ears ringing. A blur of motion in his periferal vision materialized in two bodies tackling him further down in a hug. Oomph, make it three bodies. Four. Alright, okay, he LOVED THEM TOO, but he needed to breathe. His ribs creaked. There were more pats down his shoulders and back, a brandished med scanner - unsurprising.
A bit more surprising was another hug, as he finally made it up off the floor and untangled gently, if wobbly, from the pile of brothers - Dad gathered him close in a fierce motion and held tight with no obvious intention to let go. It felt nice, of course, safe. But also worrisome. So for a moment Scott struggled with the conflicting urges to melt into the hug and to FIX whatever got Dad so scared. Jeff just tightened the embrace in response and Scott gave in, relaxing into being held.
He'd have to get to the bottom of it, as more arms joined the hold around him again, especially as he clearly heard Dad whispering "I'm so sorry, Bluejay! I love you so much, son". But for now he was warm, and snug, and obviously so welcome. He was home. Nothing ever felt better.

Child in Time
Chapter 4
Warnings: none
Chapter 1: link Previous chapter: link
Eo didn't cry. It was one of the first things Barry noticed in the less than 24 hours he'd had the baby. He'd fuss, make sad whimpering sounds, and wriggle around trying to get whatever it was he wanted, but he never wailed. Not when he was hungry, not when he needed a change, not even when he managed to sit up only to fall over again and bump his head on the crib.
It was odd and Barry couldn't help but feel a pang of sadness whenever Eo whimpered. He knew babies cried, it was their way of communicating - their only way for a decent amount of time - and the fact that Eo didn't just seemed...wrong. Worrying. Still, despite how quiet he was, it was those sad sounds that woke him at 5 in the morning. Barry groggily rubbed his eyes, sitting up and stretching. Eo was lying in his crib, staring at him with those big blue eyes as his little lip wobbled, the teddy bear he'd arrived with firmly in his tiny fingers.
"Morning, buddy," Barry said with a yawn, lifting Eo and the bear out of the crib. "Let's get you some breakfast."
Eo squeaked in response and nuzzled his face into Barry's shoulder before looking up at him again, watching him closely, the bear trapped between his little body and Barry’s chest.
Barry made his way down the stairs, careful not to make too much noise and wake Joe. The kitchen was still dark, the early morning light barely peeking above the horizon, casting pale blue beams through the kitchen window. The house was quiet, the only sounds being the soft hum of the refrigerator and Eo's occasional baby babble. He set Eo down in a high chair he had picked up the previous day and started preparing a bottle.
"You're an early riser, aren't you?" Barry murmured, glancing at the baby who was now gumming on his tiny fists.
Eo's wide blue eyes followed Barry's every movement, a look of pure curiosity and innocence on his face. His tiny nose scrunched up in concentration as he watched Barry, his little fingers gripping the edge of the high chair as he tugged experimentally on the tray. There was something undeniably endearing about the little guy.
As the bottle warmed, Barry leaned against the counter, lost in thought. He had no clue what he was going to do for the rest of the day. He couldn't very well go to work toting a baby, but he couldn't put watching him while working on Cisco, Caitlin, Dr. Wells, or Joe either and the thought of leaving him with anyone else made his stomach twist with anxiety.
The bottle warmer beeped and Barry clumsily tested the temperature with a few drops of the formula on the back of his hand. Satisfied, he carried the bottle to the high chair and carefully picked up Eo. The baby latched onto the bottle eagerly, his tiny hands grasping at Barry's fingers and eyelids already drooping.
"There you go, buddy," Barry muttered softly, watching Eo drink. It was such a normal, everyday moment, and yet it felt so surreal. The soft sounds Eo made as he drank were oddly comforting, his tiny foot kicking the air lazily, and Barry found himself relaxing, if only slightly.
By the time the sun had fully risen, Barry had already called in to work, changed two diapers, prepared a breakfast for himself, read 17 parenting books, watched more Cocomelon than he could stomach, and thought he'd gotten something of a handle on this parenting thing (even if Joe had laughed when he'd said so). By noon, however, Barry was completely frazzled. Eo's teddy bear had been misplaced for what felt like the hundredth time and while he still didn't cry, the sad high-pitched sounds of distress he made seemed infinitely worse.
"I know, I know, I'm sorry, I'll find it-" Barry rambled, trying to soothe the infant as he sped around the house, searching under everything and wondering how he kept putting the thing down without noticing.
Eo's sad whimpers grew louder and Barry's heart sank with each passing second. He couldn't understand how a tiny toy could cause so much distress, but he was determined to find it. He rifled through the couch cushions, checked under the dining table, and even searched through his laundry pile and in the washing machine and dryer. No luck.
Desperation creeping in, Barry took a deep breath and forced himself to pause - or rather, paused the world around him as he mentally retraced his steps. Flash Time had never been more useful.
After a few moments of silence and stillness, Barry remembered the last time he’d been holding it and found the bear tucked in the corner of the bathroom where he must have set it down during a hurried diaper change. He let out a relieved sigh and returned to the living room, where Eo was lying on a baby blanket on the floor, making those heart-wrenching little sounds.
"Here it is, buddy," Barry said, holding up the bear. Eo's eyes lit up and he reached out his tiny hands, immediately clutching the bear by the nose and dragging it in front of himself so he could smush his face into it. Barry couldn't help but smile at the sight. "You really love that bear, huh?" Eo responded with a pleased gurgle, the distress ebbing away as he nuzzled into the plush toy.
Barry's phone buzzed, and he glanced at it to see a text from Iris. 'How's babysitting going?'
Barry quickly typed back. 'Okay. He's a sweet kid."
A moment later, another text from Iris: 'Want to grab lunch? I can help out if you need a break.'
Barry hesitated before replying. 'Sure. Meet at Jitters?'
'See you there.' Was her prompt response.
"Alright, little guy, let's get going," Barry said, unboxing the baby stroller he'd picked up the night previous and loading Eo into it in seconds. He triple checked the diaper bag before leaving the house and speeding to the café, internally wincing as they arrived and he had to stamp out the smoldering rear right wheel, the acrid smell of burning plastic drifting up and making him wrinkle his nose. He made a mental note to talk to Cisco about making a speed-proof stroller as he wheeled Eo inside.
Jitters was busy as it usually was around lunch time but Iris flagged them over with a grin, having managed to snag a corner table. The aroma of freshly brewed coffee managed to cover the melted plastic stench as Barry navigated the stroller through the crowded café, a wave of relief washing over him at the sight of his best friend, her warm smile a balm to his frazzled nerves.
"Hey," Barry greeted, a tired smile tugging at his lips as he carefully unbuckled Eo and lifted him out of the stroller. "Sorry I'm late. Eo had a bit of a crisis over his teddy bear."
"You're not late, don't worry, I was already here. Come here, sweetie." Iris crooned, offering her arms. Barry handed Eo off gratefully, sinking into his chair. "He seems to be doing okay now." She added as Eo wiggled and twisted in her arms until he could see his teddy bear and Barry both.
"Yeah, he's a pretty calm baby." Barry replied.
As they settled at the table, Eo now comfortably seated in Iris's lap, Barry couldn't help but feel a pang of longing as he watched Iris with Eo. There was something so natural about the way she interacted with the baby, and for a moment, he allowed himself to imagine a future where they were a family. But he brushed the thought aside as quickly as it had come. Iris was with Eddie. Eo wasn't even supposed to be here.
"How long are you planning on taking care of him?" Iris asked, her eyes meeting Barry's as Eo chewed on her pointer finger.
Barry sighed, rubbing the back of his neck. "I'm not sure. It's...kind of a complicated situation. It was really last minute and I don't know when they'll be able to take him back, so..." Barry hedged.
A look of understanding crossed Iris's features suddenly though Barry couldn't imagine what she could have possibly figured out from anything he'd just said.
"Well, if it's going to be for a while or...indefinitely...have you told Linda?"
Barry's heart skipped a beat at the mention of Linda. He hadn't even considered how his new, temporary (he hoped) responsibility might affect his budding relationship. He leaned back in his chair, running a hand through his hair.
"Uh, no, I haven't told her yet," Barry admitted, feeling a wave of guilt wash over him.
Iris nodded, her expression sympathetic. "I get it, Barr. It's a lot to handle all of a sudden. But you should talk to her soon, let her know what's going on. She'll understand."
Barry sighed, glancing at Eo and handing him the teddy bear to chew on instead. "Yeah, you're right. I'll talk to her."
The bell above the door chimed and Barry glanced over to see Eddie. He spotted Barry and Iris and waved, making his way over with a smile on his face. "Hey! Iris mentioned you were babysitting, who's this little guy?"
Barry was really getting tired of lying. "This is Eo, he's a friend's kid." He said, hoping there would be no follow-up questions.
Eddie leaned over to get a better look at Eo, who regarded him with wide, curious eyes. "Eo? That's...an interesting name," Eddie said, raising an eyebrow. "Short for something?"
"Uh- probably?" Barry said, scrambling for an explanation for a problem he hadn't even considered. "I mean, that would make sense, but I don't- I'm not sure, actually-" Barry rambled.
Eddie nodded, seeming satisfied with the answer anyway, and turned his attention to Iris. "Hey, babe. Sorry to interrupt-" he started but Iris shook her head.
"No, it's fine. We were just talking about Barry's babysitting adventure." She said with a smile, gently bouncing Eo on her knee. "You should join us."
Eddie looked pleased at the invitation and pulled up a chair, taking a seat next to Iris and giving her a quick kiss on the cheek. Eo stared up at him with a look that seemed much too intense for his tiny face. Barry couldn't help but feel a pang of jealousy at the sight of Iris and Eddie together with Eo, looking like a picture-perfect family, though he pushed it aside. He turned his focus instead onto Eo, specifically, ignoring the ache in his chest. The baby was still staring at Eddie, almost as if he recognized him, which only added to Barry's discomfort.
"So, Barr, how's it been so far? Babysitting, I mean." Eddie asked, his tone light and friendly.
Barry forced a smile, trying to keep his thoughts from spiraling. "He's a good kid, it hasn't been too bad. Just figuring it all out as I go."
Eddie nodded, glancing back down with a small laugh as Eo tugged on his jacket sleeve in an attempt to pull himself into Eddie's lap instead. "Hey there buddy. Is it okay if I...?" Eddie started to ask and Barry blinked in surprise.
"Oh, yeah, sure." Barry said and Eddie plucked Eo into his arms, letting the infant mouth at his shoulder instead, the baby satisfied now that he'd gotten what he wanted. Iris watched them with a soft smile, clearly enjoying the sight of Eddie with the baby. Barry couldn't help but feel a mixture of emotions; relief that Eo seemed content for now, the ever-present anxiety about the whole situation, and a faint, gnawing jealousy.
"Any idea how long your friend will be gone?" Eddie asked, patting Eo's back gently as the baby started to drift off to sleep. Eo shook his head repeatedly and blinked his eyes slowly as though that could prevent the drowsiness that had come over him.
Barry shrugged, trying to keep his expression neutral. "Not sure. Could be a while, though."
Iris nudged Eddie lightly and gave him a look that Barry wished he understood but, at least, Eddie seemed to as he immediately changed the subject. Barry let out a silent breath of relief as the conversation shifted away from his complicated situation. Eddie and Iris continued chatting, discussing work and their plans for the weekend, while Eo's breathing became soft and steady as he fell asleep in Eddie's arms.
The rest of the lunch was spent in a relatively peaceful lull, despite the whirlwind of emotions storming inside Barry. The café buzzed around them with the chatter of other patrons and the clinking of cups and cutlery and Barry let his mind wander.
"Barry, you okay?" Iris's voice cut through his reverie. He blinked, realizing he'd been staring at Eo and Eddie a bit too long.
"Yeah, sorry. Just...thinking, I guess," Barry said, forcing a smile.
Iris gave him a sympathetic look and patted his forearm. "Well, if you need any help, please ask us, okay?" Barry nodded.
Eddie glanced at his watch. "I should get back to the precinct. Joe will start wondering where I am," he said, gently handing Eo back to Barry before giving Iris a quick kiss on the lips. "Good luck babysitting, Barr. You got this." He said with a grin.
Barry watched Eddie walk out the door before turning back to Iris who was looking at him intently.
"Are you sure you're okay?" She asked softly.
Barry forced another smile, adjusting the baby in his arms before moving to place Eo in the stroller again so he wouldn't have to see Iris's concerned expression. "Yeah, I'm fine. Why?"
Iris chewed her lower lip, thinking over her words carefully. "I just...want to make sure you know you can talk to me. About anything."
Barry's heart clenched at Iris's words. The familiar urge to confide in her about everything, to tell her the truth about Eo, about being the Flash, was overwhelming - but he couldn't. Not yet. Hopefully someday but...not now.
Barry stood and Iris pulled him into a hug which he gladly returned.
"Call me if you need any help, okay?" Iris said as she pulled away, squeezing his shoulder gently.
Barry nodded, finally managing a genuine smile. "I will. Thanks, Iris."
He double checked that Eo was securely in the stroller along with his bear before heading out. The sun was high in the sky now, casting a warm glow over Central City as Barry wheeled the stroller out of Jitters. Only a few steps away, however, Barry's phone buzzed in his pocket. He tugged it out and glanced at the screen to see Cisco's name before pressing the answer button.
"Hey, what's up?" Barry asked though he'd barely gotten the words out before Cisco began explaining.
"Serious robbery at the Central City Bank downtown, they need the Flash, man."

Okay, so we know how Darkrai would react to meeting the future him, Ark.
But what about Twig meeting future Twig? The one who is married to THIS guy and (depending on how far we go) had two kids with him!?!?
(You can see Ark give his past self advice here!)
While Ark gave his past self a lot more cautionary advice, Twig would want to encourage her past self. It... wouldn't be very effective.

Now I'm thinking about omega!Eobard and how Barry would react upon finding out that the guy who's been at his throat for the past however many years is an omega, not an alpha like he thought and if/how his behavior towards him would change
I think some of his reactions would depend on Barry's own designation. He'd surely be surprised but there are aggressive Omegas after all, they're just less frequent because less socially accepted.
I actually have this hc for which Eo is actually neither an Alpha nor an Omega, rather he can pick his own hormonal designation and has both genitals fully formed. He's a designer baby from the future and his parents spent a ton of money to "make him" (he was grown in vitro like it's customary in the 25th century), so he has a genetic makeup which allows him to basically switch (he doesn't do it often because its stressing, and it does happen naturally when he's under duress. If he's not doing anything he smells neutral like a Beta).
So unless it's an AU in which he's not a speedster, you can assume that in my fics baby is always not an Alpha and not an Omega but a secret third thing, which is also not a Beta lmao (I need to find a name for this but I'm unsure, rotating different Greek alphabet letters in my head for now)

at-choice: ANTONY TAIRA (eos)
Tumblr media
name Antony Masamune Taira
alter 30
nationalität US-Amerikanisch / (Japanische Wurzeln)
gender male [he/him]
sexualität heterosexuell
pairing option [Yes]
Antony liebt Geschichten, egal in welchem Medium.

Note
where should i start reading your Rain World stuff about your OCs and such?
i don't really have any order in it so just jumpin into the oc tag n readin thru it would do, i guess?? though yeah,, tumblr isn't nice with the tags i won't lie, so i'mma compile some stuff for ya
there Are something of intro posts for the characters, though they've evolved a lot over time (originally the Anemoi Iterators were just not a thing, the only one i was meant to have was Fish with Zephyr serving only as a little neat backstory for one of the scugs connected to Fish. so Zeph especially has had a lot of evolution done to her character)
here are the posts: • Intro for Fish Inside a Birdcage, the Seafarer, the Tinkerer and the rest of their little family (x) (out of this Fish and Tinktink are most important n developed, with Seafarer bein a char i wanna work on a bit at some point) • Intro for Murder of Crows (she's a bg character for Moon's group, I rarely actually do stuff with her), Abet Zephyr, the Pan Wielder and few of the Scavs living in Fish's facilities (x) (this is also where The Children of Eo group is first mentioned) • Intro for the rest of Anemoi Iterators of The Children of Eo group, voice claims (Zephyr's is outdated) and the first look at world map, which i'm updating for myself as i'm workin on this stuff and will repost at some point so y'all can see the updates too (x) • List of Iterator City names (x) • Voice claim for Three Sparrows and updated one for Zephyr (x) • Spotto™ Ancients design reference post (x) • -sigh- "Who's Beppi?" (x) (here's him as a baby) • quick off the string in Ancient times AU designs for Euros 'n Boreas (x) • Sparrows' quickly put together art ref (proper one pending) (x)
Three Sparrows' lore is scattered basically all over over the place n she doesn't have a proper intro post yet
