His girlfriend is out of town for the weekend and doesn’t want to talk to him, so he listlessly bounces a basketball around his apartment wearing nothing but boxers and a half-unbuttoned shirt. His refrigerator contains one (1) bottle of expired orange juice and nothing else. He sharpens pencils to stick them in the ceiling, then gets hit in the head when one of them falls. He is so overcome with desire when Scully starts talking about witchcraft that he proposes over the phone. 10/10, no notes

Fright House Halloween Challenge (2024)

Write us a story in which, after Trick or Treating is done, Mulder has an alternative to watching a scary movie or Halloween cartoons for the rest of the night: he proposes that he, Scully, Jackson, and the littlest Mulder go to a haunted house. Scully agrees, anticipating a themed venue with people in scary costumes. So she's a bit miffed when Mulder pulls up in front of a dilapidated house for a little ghost hunting…

Make sure you have one or both kids pick up on Mulder and Scully referring to How the Ghosts Stole Christmas as "the last time" Mulder tricked Scully into investigating a haunted house.
