10/2/03 Alpha Sections Suppress Citywide Inferno (Hillyan News)

Valiant troops from the elite Alpha Sections unit once again faced certain death to protect innocent Hillian citizens. The Alphas responded within seconds to what witnesses described as "a vicious alien strike force" that laid waste to a large portion of the main city district. But the aliens - officially known as the Dom'Z - quickly fled at first sight of the Alpha Sections, leaving 30 square blocks of raging fire for our heroic defenders to contend with. After extinguishing the flames, the Alphas were applauded by local citizens for another job well done.

Fluff prompt 2: soulmate au with Babukar

Soulmate au: you have a tattoo that matches your soulmate. Except in this au, soulmates range from romantic to familial.

I let out a sigh, all but collapsing against the door as I wiped at my head. “It is so hot outside,” I groaned out. A frown appeared on my face as I heard Babukar’s amused chuckle.

“It is Lux Aurea, Glimmer. Things tend to get hot around here,” he mused from his spot in the room. There was an amused glint in his golden eyes.

“Oh really, and this whole time I thought it was just you.” I responded sarcastically, a grin on my face anyways. Damn that elf and his annoyingly good looks. Getting off the door, I wandered further into Babukar’s home, going to get a glass of water. Even though the liquid cooled me off, I was stuck with the sweat on my skin. “I was really hoping between Neolandia and Lux Aurea I’d grow used to the heat, maybe sweat less. I’m pretty sure I’m only sweating more.” I grimaced, trying to wipe it off my arms.

The sun mage shook his head and settled his hands on my shoulders. “Come on then, it sounds like you need a bath. And,” he took an exaggerated breath, “it smells like it too.”

My jaw dropped and an offended squawk came from my throat. Turning around, I smacked him playfully across the chest. “Oh yeah? Well, now I won’t be bathing at all. In fact, I missed you while I was out, why don’t you give me a big hug.” As I spoke, I stretched my arms out wide and pressed myself as close as I could, only clinging tighter as he tried to push me away.

He leaned his head as far up as possible, only lightly pulling at me. “Glimmer this is ridiculous,” he snorted, but I could hear the smile in his voice. And thus, I refused to let go, until he decided to pick me up and throw me over his shoulder.

“Hey, hey, hey, what’s the big idea?” I squeaked in surprise, trying to sit up.

Babukar held me firmly over his shoulder. “You seem to need help getting clean, so I’m going to help you,” he stated simply with a smirk. Despite my giggling protests, he hauled me to the bathroom, and rolled his eyes as I slowly stripped for him. “Keep that up and we’ll need to bathe for a whole new reason, little spark,” he warned playfully.

A confused look spread on my face. “We?” I echoed.

He nodded, starting to lift his shirt off. “If you’ll remember, you did get your sweat all over me, so I’ll be needing one as well now. Besides, it’s been a while since we’ve bathed together.” He smiled a little brighter at the thought as he got rid of the rest of his clothes and extended his hand out to me.

I smiled back at him, taking it, and letting him lead me into the tub. The moment the cool water hit my skin, I shivered and pressed closer to Babukar when we settled down in it.

“Weren’t you just complaining about being hot?” He raised an eyebrow at me as he chuckled.

“And now I’m cold! My body temperature is allowed to change you know.” I stuck my tongue out at him, dunking my head underwater before he could catch me. I puffed out a breath under the water, admiring the bubbles before coming back up for air.

We spent our time talking about our day as we washed each other's hair and bodies. My hands trailed along his chest as I spread the soap around. All of his soulmate tattoos were on his chest. Two suns linked together to represent his connection to his sister, various other patterns for his mentor and friends, and the one I shared with him and Routhna. A symbol that looked like the top of his sun staff with broadswords hanging off the ends, all looking to be on the cover of a book. Sweetly enough, ours was the one closest to where his heart was. Though I found it fitting his tattoos were all on his chest in general, he always held those he loved dearly close to him. I leaned my head down, pressing a gentle kiss to it and tracing the design lightly. “I love you,” I breathed out, snuggling closer to him as he wrapped an arm around me.

He pressed a soft kiss to my forehead. “I love you too,” he hummed. His own fingers flitted against my skin. Unlike him, my own soulmate tattoos were all over the place. There were many of them, one for each of my family members, one for my friends on my fingers, my arms all but had sleeves for each meaningful person I had met on my travels, in which one for Bineta was on there. But the tattoo we shared, that one was on my throat. Always shown, and always spoken out.

My eyes closed as I felt him get to ours, energies intertwining for just a moment. We stayed like that for a long time, holding each other in the water. It was only when I started to drift to sleep that Babukar nudged me awake.

“We should get out now, I imagine falling asleep in our bed will be much more comfortable than the bath,” he suggested. His voice was low and quiet, not wanting to disturb the peace that had settled over us.

I was inclined to agree with him and I nodded. Carefully getting out, I slipped into some clean and comfortable clothes and promptly fell into bed with him. My head was on his chest as we cuddled, his steady heartbeat sending me to sleep. Everything with Babukar was easy, it was easy to find comfort in him, even more so to love him.

This was truly the feeling of finding your soulmate.

Leona didn’t have many important documents, the same graduation letter as everyone else so far, but she hadn’t been light gifted like her mother or sister, no criminal record. The most notable thing was that she had been dead for fifty years now, and it was a wonder Luca had lived as long as she had. There was a certificate of marriage to another sunfire named Adren, and she had one son of her own. Despite being directly related to Tallion, it didn’t seem like there was much about here. 

Her son was the next in the list of files at least. Abnego. There was physical documentation, and he was very much alive, but he looked more like the softer sides of Tallion than he looked like his aunt or grand father. His documentation was as a professor of the North Xadian school of magic. A certificate of graduation from there was followed immediately with a certification of teaching, and that followed with marriage documentation, having married a women named Avisa. One thing that wasn’t there on other files was the documentation: Cursed, Water Avoidant with a description similar to how Tallion described the curse. No known way to undo it, but it does say “In place by grandfather” at the bottom. This sheet was a new addition that the old files wouldn’t have. 

The paper underneath all that was a family list similar to everyone else’s, except there were 13 names listed under children. The third oldest, third down in the list of names, was Tallion. The ones on top were Babukar and Bineta. One of which could be recognized after talk spread through Xadia of a team of elves and humans saving a civilization of ancient elves from a floating city doomed to hit a mountain. It was all everyone talked about for a minute, the list of names being known and repeated for at least a few weeks after news got out. Tallion definitely had some notable older siblings that was sure. 

RP: Demons of Ash and Sin

It was peaceful, quiet. The stars above softly glowing with his own as he stood out in an empty grass field. For once the silence not bothering him.

He then looked around and found a forest nearby. Deciding to explore, he went to it and entered. The trees glowed with bioluminescent flowers and fruits as he trailed a hand along the bark. The glow soft and complimenting the glittering stars.

He then came to a particular tree. White moon blossoms were glowing on this one, softer than the rest, but no less beautiful. Some had a sparkling appearance as well. He reached up to touch one.

At his touch, the flower suddenly lit up as a flame ignited. Burning quickly through the flowers and leaves until the tree was on fire as well.

He tried to stop it, but it wasn’t salvageable. Ash was all that remained. He fell to his knees in grief, moving to pick some of the ashes up. Only for them to glow hot again as he tried, before lines of fire sparked to life and grabbed his wrist. He couldn’t keep the pained cry from escaping as it burned his flesh.

He pulled, trying to get away, but the fiery chain only wrapped around his arm further. The burn getting worse. He somehow knew if he let it reach his chest it would be too late...but he couldn’t stop it.

All around him, the rest of the Forest was now ablaze as well. He was surrounded by fire on all sides. There was no escape. The chains wrapped around him. Keeping him in place before a pillar of flame rose before him and took the shape of a person he couldn’t quite make out the features of.

The person moved forward as he tried to scoot back and away. They grabbed the end of the chain, yanking him back and toward them. He tried to pull away still, struggling even as the flames burned. He was pulled up and toward the person made of fire now, and as he struggled still, they leaned forward.

He began to beg for them to stop. Let him go. He didn’t want this anymore! Before they were on top of him and everything hurt. His insides and his outsides burned. Then he was falling and now was in dark water. He was no longer held by chains of fire, but still was chained.

He was being dragged down, down...into darkness. The farther down he went, the more his struggles failed. He couldn’t breathe...he couldn’t fight anymore...he was drowning. He was dying...

As his vision darkened, a light appeared above him. Out of reach. He tried to reach for it, but couldn’t move even as he was now no longer tied. The light faded. A new light then came from below and he looked to find more fire. His eyes widened but he didn’t have the strength to escape.

He cried out again, for help or simply from pain, he didn’t know. But everything hurt again as he was dragged down by hands made of fire. He struggled weakly now, but it was no use...he was too late...

There was no escape.

Aaravos sat bolt upright in bed. Eyes wide, lungs desperately pulling in and letting out air. A vice-like grip on the sheets on his side as he stared sightlessly ahead.

His stars faintly illuminated the bedroom. His eyes adjusting as well and seeing where he was. He could feel the weight of a body next to him. Hear the breathing of two people.

Home. He was home. With his Moonshadows...Ethari and Runaan.

It was just a nightmare... He reasoned with himself, but still had a grip on the sheets. Not real.

His heart was still pounding. He needed to do something about that... So he got up carefully and quietly left the room to go down to the kitchen. With magic he could heat up some tea instantly, so did so. Running a hand through his bangs as he let it steep. Attempting to get a grip on himself again.

What was that? A nightmare, obviously...but it had such a...personal feel to it. He shuddered, hugging himself. A rare behavior, but one he had picked up being around Ethari it seemed.

Babukar : Look. I may not be a saint, but it's not like I’ve killed anybody. I’m not an arsonist. I’ve never found a wallet outside of an IHOP and thought about returning it but saw the owner lived out of state so just took the cash and dropped the wallet back on the ground.

Bineta : Okay, that's really specific, and that makes me think that you definitely did do that.

Daaaaamn that’s a Sun mage?? Babukar looks like he could bench the Sun Forge! Do they have CrossFit in Xadia?

This is the enthusiastic character reaction I need, yes good, please Babukar bench press the Sun Forge.

He’s a battle mage, which is what Viren is too, and we’ve seen Viren swing his staff pretty skillfully. I’d imagine that Babukar could swing his around not only for spell runes and targeting, but as a physical weapon too. His sister is a Knight of Lux Aurea, and they probably train together. She’s probably the one who keeps him in that shape, as her way of making sure he’s ready for anything, so that he can get that sweet sweet victory and glory he craves.
