I went to Kansas City Night 1 and I'm still not over it, and Speak Now is one of the albums from my childhood you could play for me and I'll sing every song like it's muscle memory, so of course Speak Now TV is here.

Also saw Paramore recently, and it was like 14 year old me came back in full force. Regardless of how their sound has changed over the years, they continue to produce music I love. This Is Why is their most recent album they're currently touring for.

Barbie soundtrack because--idk. It's fun! Pink will not stop playing in my head like all the time.

I've been in the fall mood, and I associate Stranger in the Alps by Phoebe Bridgers with that, so it's also entered the rotation frequently.

Confirmed FIA regulation breaches that have no element of ambiguity about them in the 2022 Singaporean Grand Prix:

Regulation breach 1: Moving the 3-hour window (Article 5.4 b) of the Sporting Regulations, interpretation of which the FIA breached being mandated by the Bianchi settlement of 2017).

Regulation breach 2: Not red-flagging conditions believed to be unsafe enough to mitigate Perez's SC offence (Article 57.1 of the Sporting Code). Note that if one does not believe Perez’s offence was mitigatable, this would result in a breach of Article 47.3 of the Sporting Code having been made instead.

Regulation breach 3: Green flag with marshals on the track (Articles 55.14 and 56.7 of the Sporting Code; I think I saw it twice during the race)

Regulation breach 4: following a reprimand with a warning (which is lower on the penalty list in the case of Perez failing to follow the SC (Article 47.3 of the Sporting Regulations):

- Lap 10: reprimanded - Lap 36: warned - Later on Lap 36: 5s penalty (this was correct, it was the first Lap 36 one that was the problem - though it could be argued a correctly-implemented red flag might have spared Perez this penalty) Note that all 4 changed the result of the race in different ways. - the first three are safety regulations whose breach either has or will put people’s lives at risk. - the first two involved, in full (the 3-hour window) or in part (the red-flag one), regulation breaches done by the FIA in cold blood. - the first one was set by the Bianchi settlement of 2017, and thus not in the FIA’s gift to do even with standard regulatory change notice, let alone without it (the rest could, technically, be altered through the standard regulation change procedures). This race result should not be regarded as settled as it is at serious risk by lawyers. At which point, the other 5 races where the FIA unambiguously breached its own regulations since summer 2021 (as well as potentially other breaches preceding these) in a way that changed the result of the race are also at risk (some of which also put people’s lives at risk): Spa 2021: Running the race without medical cover - in any form whatsoever (Article 2.8.3.8 b) of Appendix H of the International Sporting Code, mandated by the Bianchi settlement of 2017) outside the 3-hour window (Article 5.4 b) of the Sporting Regulations, interpretation of which the FIA breached being mandated by the Bianchi settlement of 2017). Saudi Arabia 2021: Running at a track with no service road, at a venue where the lack of service road caused delays to clearing the track (Article 7.10 of Appendix O of the International Sporting Code) Abu Dhabi 2021: Failing to adhere to the end-of-SC protocol (then Article 47 of the Sporting Regulations) Saudi Arabia 2022: Running at a track with no service road, where the lack of service road caused delays to clearing the track (Article 7.10 of Appendix O of the International Sporting Code), and continuing to run the race when there was a clear and present danger brought on by F1′s presence (Article 2.1.6a of the International Sporting Code, as applied via Articles 37.6 and 57.1 of the Sporting Regulations according to the sessions). For those of you wondering how a 4-hour meeting ended with all drivers allegedly “agreeing” to continue to race... according to BBC Sport’s “Saudi Arabian Grand Prix will go ahead”:

BBC Sport has learned that a significant number of drivers had concerns about the safety of the event following the attack.

But eventually they were convinced to go ahead and race after being given further information by bosses.

Part of this information involved the possible consequences of not racing, such as how easily teams and drivers would be able to leave the country if the race did not happen. 

The last sentence is referencing an incident at WWE Crown Jewel 2019, where due to a payment dispute, there was an alleged 24-hour hostage incident against those wrestlers and support staff not famous enough to command a place on a private plane. Whether true or not, that constitutes blackmail against the drivers. This is a crime, and the powers-that-be need to answer for it. Especially as they have knowingly put everyone in the paddock in line for another attack (which they know, or should know, has a reasonable probability of occurring due to the associations of the event with Aramco - the company that was attacked 3 times today). There is no way I can ever take seriously again the words of “leaders” who think this sort of thing is OK. Not if they run countries, not if they run economic activities (it has been apparent for months that neither the FIA nor Liberty regards F1 as a sport, but the point still stands regardless of the activity category).

how do people usually refer to lewis and valterri if lewis and nico are considered "brocedes"? i'm new to f1 and this is confusing me haha

It looks like the commonest term is "valewis", but it's not a total consensus and it seems the majority of people discussing Lewis and Valtteri on Tumblr just name both drivers in separate tags.

The friend I visited today got a newspaper. When I visited him, he commented that the driver in the photo illustrating that paper’s F1 story looked about 15, which surprised him as he thought they were all adults. To which I replied, “Was it Lando, by any chance? People often say he looks younger than he actually is.” He showed me the newspaper and the photo was of... ...Carlos Sainz. At which point, my friend asked what skin product he uses. (For anyone wondering, Carlos is in fact 28 for the next 5 days).

My #1 post of 2022

Having now seen a timeline of the attacks (the Houthi attack was revenge for a series of attacks done earlier, the Saudis elected to do another wave of strikes afterwards, and despite knowing that F1 takes sponsorship from the company that got struck, blackmail was used to keep F1 in the country), I am now scared the F1 paddock’s being used as bait. Not just sportwashing, but a provocation against Yemen and an excuse to escalate war. Jeddah’s lack of service road, and the resulting impediment of F2 qualifying rescues, means that according to Article 7.10 of Appendix O of the International Sporting Regulations, it is no longer eligible for Grade 4 competition, let alone Grade 1. Continuing to run there means that insurance, if they notice the discrepancy, is not going to cover regular accidents - let alone missile-related ones. Yes, the FIA should have noticed this immediately, but having discovered the impediment in F2 qualifying, that is an automatic event-ender by regulations, all by itself, with the venue being required to pay costs.

Failure to cancel means that all the races that continue are doing so uninsured, at an inherently unsafe venue, in an acknowledged war zone, with no increase in security (which has already proven insufficient), under threat of blackmail, in a way that encourages more war, more destruction and more genocide.

F1 is political whether the powers-that-be choose to accept that it is or not, and whether they choose to meet their legal responsibilities or not.
