Recapping the 2025 Juno Awards
Tumblr media
If you somehow missed it, this weekend was the 54th annual Juno Awards, taking place in Vancouver, Canada to honour the best of Canada’s most successful artists of 2024 across various categories and genres. It took place across Saturday and Sunday, 29-30 March 2025, the main televised ceremony taking place in the 19,000-capacity Rogers Arena, as well as other events like the Songwriters Circle also taking place alongside the big show, featuring spectacular live productions and performances, a who’s-who of current Canadian music including award presenters The Beaches and Jessie Reyez, and host Michael Bublé.
In short, it was a night recognising and celebrating the artists who have been working tirelessly for years and are finally enjoying a moment in the spotlight. Albertan singer and dancer who took the world of pop by storm with her hit single ‘Greedy’, Tate McRae was one of the biggest winners at this year’s JUNOs, winning artist of the year, while single ‘Exes’ won Pop Song of the Year and her subsequent album Think Later won Pop Album of the Year, although she wasn’t at the ceremony to collect her awards in person.
The Beaches continued the dominance they have had upon guitar- and rock music by winning Group of the Year, retaining the award they had won last year on the back of the success of their single ‘Blame Brett’, and following that, of the whole album Blame My Ex. If things continue as they are right now for the Beaches, they could rival Arkells for the continuous run of three Group of the Year wins. Arkells’ frontman and singer Max Kerman was at the ceremony as well, to announce that next year’s JUNOS will be hosted in their hometown of Hamilton, ON.
Torontonian poet and folk singer Mustafa, who won praise from critics the world over for his debut album Dunya, which was also featured in many year-end ‘Albums of 2024’ lists, picked up Songwriter of the Year, and Palestinian-Canadian pop singer Nemahsis won Breakthrough Artist of the Year for her debut album Verbathim.

It was a special moment for Nemah Hasan, who had initially gained attention for her artistry through TikTok and had been signed by a Los Angeles-based record label. As she was working on her album in 2023 however, she was dropped by her label because she was Palestinian. Disheartened but supported by fans and family, Nemahsis went on to independently release what would become the Juno winner for Alternative Album of the Year. She also performed a breakthrough single from the album, ‘Stick of Gum’.
Cree musician Sebastian Gaskin took home Indigenous Artist of the Year for his single ‘Brown Man’. Snotty Nose Rez Kids made history in becoming the first Indigenous artists to win Rap Album of the Year for 2024’s RED FUTURE. The duo also delivered another powerful, high-energy and evocative performance of songs from the album, last having performed at the 2022 edition of the JUNOS, when they were nominated for their fourth album, Life After.
Montreal hard rock and punk band NOBRO, who lit up the Massey Hall stage last year when performing songs from their Polaris-shortlisted 2024 album, Set Your Pussy Free, won Rock Album of the Year and performed at the JUNOS, which means we got to hear the sentence ‘I always knew that singing about my pussy and doing drugs would get me somewhere, and I’m so happy I got to prove that tonight!’ on national television. A much-needed shot in the collective national arm! NOBRO follow on from The Beaches and JJ Wilde winning for the best rock album in recent years, a heartening increase in the focus on women in rock music. (Before JJ Wilde led the way in 2021, the last woman to win Best Rock Album was Alanis Morissette in 1996.)
Pop musician and rising star Aqyila performed her 2024 single ‘Bloom’ on a meticulously, beautifully set up floral stage in keeping with the theme of the song, winning Contemporary R&B/Soul Recording of the Year. Josh Ross won Country Album of the Year for his album Complicated, performing his TikTok hit ‘Leave Me Too’.

Vancouver local and electronic musician bbno$ (pronounced ‘Baby No Money’) arrived on the JUNOS orange carpet on Sunday elaborately dressed as a toilet bowl, and won the TikTok Fan Choice Award, voted by fans either through TikTok or the JUNOS website. Later in the evening, with a fresh change of wardrobe, he was presented his award by The Beaches and performed his song ‘It Boy’ at the ceremony. Fellow Vancouver locals Peach Pit also made an appearance on Sunday to perform their song ‘Magpie’.
Tumblr media
No comment.
Boi-1da (pronounced ‘Boi Wonder’) was celebrated with the International Achievement Award for the part he played over the years as a songwriter behind international popstars and hit songs by artists like Drake, Rihanna, Eminem, Jay-Z, Nicki Minaj, Nas and Kendrick Lamar, amongst others. Singer Anne Murray, the most awarded artist in Juno history with 25 Juno wins, was celebrated with only the second-ever Lifetime Achievement Award, which was previously awarded just once: to Pierre Juneau in 1989, after whom the JUNOS were named.
Canadian pop-rock band Sum 41 closed out Sunday night’s ceremony by performing for the last time on stage at the Rogers Arena, formally wrapping up their farewell tour and hanging up their boots for good as a band. They were inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame by members of the American pop punk band Good Charlotte, who are friends of the band and toured with them in 2004.
Tumblr media

Reflecting on the this year’s award show, CBC Radio hosts Tom Power (of acclaimed art, music, film and pop culture podcast, Q fame) and Elamin Abdulmahmood (host of CBC culture show Commotions) noted that this year’s JUNOS felt bolder and more political, perhaps a reflection of the times we live in. Even as Canadians have reckoned in recent years with the country’s own history of racism, misogyny, violence and discrimination against minorities and systemic issues still ingrained into the inner workings of Canadian life, performing to 19,000 people and broadcasting to the nation of 40 million behind their televisions and laptops, many artists took the opportunity to send a message, of hope, of resistance and resilience, to Canada and the world.
The JUNOS are often dubbed ‘the biggest night in Canadian music’. Given that they are hosted, and many categories are presented, by public bodies: the CBC, various other Canadian art councils and government funding bodies, corporate sponsorships are key to putting on an event of this scale. Having it in a stadium like Rogers Arena and broadcasting it nation-wide often requires the sort of money you need to rely on the private sector for.
But Canadian artists haven’t held back this year, nor have they been asked to tone down by the JUNOS for the sake of sponsors. In her acceptance speech picking up Breakthrough Artist of the Year, Nemahsis spoke about waiting her whole life to see hijabi women on screen in a normal, non-politicised setting. She noted, she hadn’t thought it would only be when she herself was the woman on the screen that she would finally see girls like her represented. This comes as we pushback on the Quebec government’s bill C-21 banning ‘religious symbols’ in public services (a bill many detractors have deemed racist for targetting minorities, as often workers wearing hijabs, turbans, etc. have been reprimanded, whereas those sporting Christian symbols like crosses have not). Further, Nemahsis won at the Junos for an album her label were unwilling to market as it was made by a Palestinian Canadian. Her literal existence on that stage before the nation was a win and testament to Canada’s strength as a nation of multiple cultures, and she just made the best Canadian alternative album of 2024.
Michael Bublé’s opening performance and monologue included the line ‘Canada is not for sale’. Bublé, the adult contemporary staple of the moms’ and Christmas record collections, is not usually known as a political man. This comes as Canada puts together a united front against US President Donald Trump’s attacks on Canadian sovereignty.
Leandra Earl of The Beaches stood before the nation and said, ‘Ladies, Canada, I am single.’ At a time whem homophobia has been on the rise and is becoming more naked across the continent (particularly south of the border), that again sends a strong message about Canada’s tolerance and inclusivity, even as ‘DEI’ becomes a villainised concept in the United States.

2025 Group of the Year, The Beaches.
Bbno$ is an artist who came up largely through the internet, and won the Juno TikTok fan choice award, the fan vote, in the face of much more famous pop artists like the Weeknd, Tate McRae and Shawn Mendes. His last statement of the night was ‘Elon Musk is a piece of garbage’ (the television-friendly version of what you can surely complete on your own). Max Kerman—Max Kerman of Arkells, Canada’s Coldplay—echoed this statement seconds later. Arkells are one of the biggest, most decorated band in Canada. A band that indeed reaches a wide audience.
(Max, if you’re reading this, I apologise in advance for the comparison. Arkells are an incredible live band in their own right that give their shows every inch of their energy and heart, and then some more, as I can attest from having seen them play a spellbinding and immersive show in Kingston, ON last year. An Arkells show is an experience for a lifetime. The comparison is neutral and only for our international readers, who may not know the six-time Juno-winning pop rock band.)
Tumblr media
Arkells in Kingston last year. Photo: me, I was there.
Country artists like Josh Ross, who made his big break by relocating to Nashville, Tennessee, USA, were quick to establish how important home in Canada was to them in their speeches. It was all pretty much laid out in the open.
While I doubt a significant number of Americans were actually watching the Junos, or even know what they are, I think these shows of support and defiance were more about sending a message to Canadians, about who we are: defining ourselves in opposition to the values the current US administration is pretending are ‘American’. It was more about saying that we have free speech, we have tolerance (more than the US anyway), it was about saying on national television to potentially 40 million Canadians, that we have people that will stand up for Canadians of all strokes and that we defy any attempts to paint the culture of this country with the same colours as America’s.
Which is good. Every exercise in free speech is a test of the strength of democracy. I hope like hell we hang on despite the long shadow cast by our American neighbours.

Completed experiments on International Space Station to help answer how boiling and condensation work in space
After a decade of preparation and two years of active experiments in space, a facility that Purdue University and NASA's Glenn Research Center in Cleveland designed, built and tested has completed its test campaign on the International Space Station.
The Flow Boiling and Condensation Experiment (FBCE), led by Purdue professor Issam Mudawar, gathered vital data for engineering innovations to help astronauts travel farther into space and conduct long-duration missions on the moon or Mars. The data will also support the design of future spacecraft propulsion, thermal management systems, in-space refueling and vapor compression heat pumps for planetary bases.
"We were asked to create an experiment to test flow boiling in microgravity, and I'm thrilled to see that we've delivered in a big way," said Mudawar, the Betty Ruth and Milton B. Hollander Family Professor of Mechanical Engineering and FBCE's principal investigator. "The amount of data coming out of the FBCE is just absolutely enormous, and that's exactly what we want."
Mudawar's space-based experiment tackles a simple question: How do we keep future vehicles and facilities cool in space's harsh environment? For example, the moon's surface fluctuates wildly between minus 410 degrees and 250 degrees Fahrenheit; to create a human habitat there, reliable thermal management will be essential.
Traveling farther into space requires cryogenic fuel depots, but the flow physics of cryogenic liquids in microgravity haven't been fully understood. Even future propulsion systems, such as nuclear fission or Rankine cycle heat engines, will also require efficient cooling systems capable of operating in a zero-gravity environment.
For all these reasons, NASA solicited research proposals on the topic and selected a proposal submitted by Mudawar, who is one of the most cited researchers on flow boiling and condensation, and Glenn's Mojib Hasan.
In flow boiling, heat is removed by flowing a liquid that then boils, phase-changing into a gas, and then later condensing back into a liquid. While this efficient thermal management solution has been studied in-depth on Earth, no one knew if it was feasible in space.
"We have developed over a hundred years' worth of understanding of how heating and cooling systems work in Earth's gravity," Mudawar said, "but we haven't known how they work in weightlessness."
Enter the FBCE, which started operating on the space station in 2022. About the size of a refrigerator, FBCE contains two Purdue-designed test modules—one for flow boiling and one for condensation—integrated with a fluid system that Purdue researchers and NASA Glenn designed together. NASA Glenn built the fluid system along with avionics modules. Sitting in the space station's Fluids Integrated Rack, the fluid system enables researchers to conduct space station experiments autonomously from the ground.
"The FBCE experiments are crucial in two ways," Mudawar said. "Not only do they generate fundamental data that would be difficult for us to gather on Earth, but they also serve to validate theoretical models that we have spent years developing. Once the models are validated, it becomes possible for NASA to more accurately predict the fluid physics of lower-gravity environments, such as the moon or Mars."
Boiler up
Mudawar started this project in 2011 when NASA selected his proposal after a decadal survey from the National Academies emphasized the need for this research.
"Every 10 years, the National Academies conduct a survey that advises NASA what specific aspects they should focus on," Mudawar said. "This report indicated a lack of fundamental models of how fluids behave in microgravity. That's when I began work with NASA Glenn to create an experimental facility to study fluid flow and phase change in space."
The first prototype FBCE flew on parabolic airplane flights with Zero Gravity Corp. (ZERO-G). Purdue students and NASA Glenn-qualified operators conducted experiments on that flight during 15-second periods of microgravity. After promising results and years of hardware development, testing and flight qualification, the final version of the facility came together at NASA Glenn.
After passing NASA's design, safety and readiness reviews, FBCE's flow boiling module was launched to the space station in August 2021 and began operations in early 2022. Last August, the condensation module of FBCE launched, replacing the flow boiling module. Purdue completed its test campaign in July.
The mountains of data gathered from FBCE's experiments will form the basis of fundamental models and future research for years to come.
"This is among NASA's largest and most complex experiments for fluid physics research," Mudawar said. "We have published more than 70 papers on reduced gravity and fluid flow since the project's inception and even contributed to the most recent National Academies decadal survey based on our findings. Collectively, these papers are really almost like a textbook for how boiling and condensation works in space."
Cool future
While the Purdue test campaign has ended, FBCE isn't going anywhere. The facility will remain on the space station for other researchers who want to experiment with fluid physics in space.
"My original proposal established that FBCE would eventually become a national resource," Mudawar said. "Other investigators have already started using it since our campaign ended. It's my hope that the data coming from FBCE will help establish the science of cooling spacecraft for years to come."

The onion article isn't helping, but the point is definitely solid
remember when Israel blew up the AP building claiming Hamas was there as a cover to keep journalists from reporting on their attacks?
Have you seen the death tolls?
Tumblr media
It's been said by al Jazeera, politico, and others that journalists are often kept away to keep them from reporting on what's going on. Al Jazeera wrote about it in relation to the hospital bombing and not being able to investigate because they were being held back. Politico wrote about how the cease fire would mean journalists could get into Gaza and US admin didn't like that things would be reported on.
Israel has been caught using chemical weapons
Israel's missile interception system keeps them extremely safe from any sort of bombardment that trying is basically useless
Joe Biden has said on multiple occasions that "if there were not an Israel, we would create one to protect our interests in the middle east"
Original (apologies for tiktok, easiest off hand recording)

Recently
Israel created and used Hamas as an asset originally hoping that it would result in giving Israel more power, that back fired dramatically.
Israel has been killing and meddling since it's inception to solidify it's place in the world.
When you are up against a country supported by the largest military in the world who runs an explicit apartheid state, there is no choice but to attack. States are legitimized based on a monopoly of violence. PolySci 101. For Israel to exist, they needed to kill Palestinians. That also means Palestinians only recorse will be to fight back, as Israel and the US simply don't care about their rights, never have, and never will. When armed with billions of dollars every year of military assets from the US, Palestine is put into a corner where there is literally not a single choice but to fight back.

SENDING BLESSINGS ON PROPHET MUHAMMAD (ﷺ) ON FRIDAYS
So there is plenty of rewards for reciting Salat and Salam (Durood) every day and especially so on Fridays. One may reap these rewards with which ever wordings of Salat and Salam (Durood) one uses…
الحمد لله والصلاة والسلام على رسول الله وعلى آله وصحبه، أما بعـد
Praise is for Allah. May Allah’s blessing and peace be upon the Messenger of Allah, his kin, and companions all.
Sending salutations upon the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) is amongst the most virtuous acts of worship. Rewards are written; a person’s sins are forgiven; and his status is elevated.
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “Whoever sends Salah upon me once, Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta’ala) will send Salah upon him ten-fold, and will erase ten sins from him, and will raise him ten degrees in status.”
[Narrated by Nasai #1297 V.3 Pg.50; and Haakim in Mustadrak 1/550 (He said, it is authentic and Zahabi agreed); and Ibn Hibban in his Saheeh #904 (Shaikh Shu’aib said, its chain is authentic.)]
Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said: “The person closest to me on the Day of Judgement is the one who sent the most Salat upon me.”
[Narrated by Tirmithi #484 and he said it is sound (Hasan Gharib)] Concerning Salat and Durood specifically on Fridays the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:
“Of your best days is Friday. On it Adam was created; and on it his (soul) was taken; and on it is the blowing (of the Trumpet); and on it is the Swoon. Therefore, increase in sending your Salat upon me, for your salat upon me are presented to me.”
They said: “O Messenger of Allah! And how will our Salat upon you be presented to you after you have perished?” He replied: “Indeed, Allah, the Mighty and Sublime, has prohibited the earth from (destroying) the bodies of the Prophets (‘Alaihim-us-Salam).”
[Narrated by Abu Dawud in his Sunan #1047, Ibn Khuzaimah #1733 and Ibn Hibban #910 in their respective Saheehs, and Hakim in Mustadrak 1/278 He said, It is authentic on the conditions of Bukhari and Zahabi agreed.]
Based on this Imam Shafe’e used to say, “I love to send plenty of Salat upon the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) all the time and I love it more so on the day of Jum’uah.” [Kitabul Umm 1/546].
So there is plenty of rewards for reciting Salat and Salam (Durood) every day and especially so on Fridays. One may reap these rewards with which ever wordings of Salat and Salam (Durood) one uses.
There is a specific Hadith that speaks about Salat was Salaam (Durood) after ‘Asr on a Friday
“Whoever remains seated in his place after the ‘Asr Salah on a Friday and recites the following will have 80 years of sins forgiven, and 80 years of worship recorded for him”
[اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدِنِ النَّبِيِّ الْأُمِّيِّ وَعَلَى آلِهِ وَسَلِّمْ تَسْلِيْمًا]
“Allahum-ma Sal-li A’laa Muhammadi-nin-Nabi-yil Um-mi wa A’laa Aa-li-hi wa sal-lim Tasleemaa”
“O Allah send Salat upon Muhammad, the un-lettered Prophet and his family; and send Salams (upon them).”
Concerning this Hadith the Muhaddith, Shaikh Moulana Muhammad Abasoomer said:
“This Hadith is reported with a few chains that are extremely weak and one of the chains is currently Hasan untraceable. However, the following narration has been classified as “Hasan” (sound) by latter day Muhaddithun, and is similar to the above Hadith.
“Whoever sends salutations upon me 80 times on a Friday, will have 80 years sins forgiven” When the Sahabah (RadiyAllahu ‘anhum) enquired how to do so, Rasulullah (ﷺ) replied:
‘Say:
[اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ عَبْدِكَ وَنَبِيِّكَ وَرَسُوْلِكَ النَّبِّيِ الْأُمِّيِّ]
“Allahumma Sal-li ‘ala Muhammadin ‘Abdi-ka wa Nabiy-yika wa Rasu-li-kan Nabiy-yil Um-miyy”
“O Allah send Salat upon Muhammad, Your servant, Your Prophet, Your Messenger,  the Un-lettered Prophet.’” (Daraqutni; see Al-Qawlul badi’, pg.400 & Sharhul Ihya, vol.3 pg.286)
Imam ‘Iraqi and others have declared this one as sound (Hasan).” (Al-Qawlul Badi’, pg.400 & Sharhul Ihya, vol.3 pg.286).
Suitable for practice
Based on the above, it would be ideal to practice on the second narration, but also correct to stick to the first one since it does acquire a degree of support from the second narration. Therefore, this issue shouldn’t be a cause for discord in any community.
This is the view of my seniors too.
Caution: It should be noted that the second Hadith, which has been classified as sound does not have the promise of 80 years worship being recorded.
Source} End Quote Shaikh Abasoomer.
It is also beneficial to note that after ‘Asr on a Fridays is considered a very blessed and opportune time. The blessings of Salat and Salam (Durood) will surely increase.
Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) talked about Friday and said, “There is an opportune time on Friday and if a Muslim gets it while praying and asks something from Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta’ala) , then Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta’ala) will definitely meet his demand.” And he (the Prophet) pointed out the shortness of that time with his hands. [Bukhari #935]
The most famous opinion is that this special time is after Asr till Sunset and many scholars adopted this view. [See Fathul Baari V.3 Pg. 218-228]
IN CONCLUSION:
Durood Shareef (Salat and Salam) is encouraged every-day and especially on Fridays.
One may recite any wordings of Salat which one have memorized. Alternatively, any of the above two wordings may also be used.
One may recite it anytime from after Maghrib on Thursday until before Sunset on Fridays.
One may recite it 80 times, 100 times or any amount of times all have merit.
If one has the practice of reciting Durood after the Fard Salah of ‘Asr on Fridays, one may continue based on the general narrations above.
And Allah the Most High knows the Best.

Hot woman? Straight probation.
A Louisiana mayor, who abruptly took a leave of absence before resigning last week, is accused of raping a minor during her time in office. Former DeRidder Mayor Misty Roberts was charged with third-degree rape and contributing to the delinquency of juveniles, Louisiana State Police announced on Thursday. An investigation into the 42-year-old mayor, who was in her second term, was opened on July 26, after the Beauregard Parish Sheriff’s Office requested the state police look into a complaint against Roberts. “As the investigation progressed, LSP SVU conducted interviews with two juveniles, one of which was the victim. Both juveniles confirmed Roberts had sexual intercourse with one juvenile victim while employed as Mayor,” a statement read.***

Their break was when we didn't shoot them; why are they on bail?
The two illegal Jordanian migrants who are charged with trying to breach Marine Corps Base Quantico in May posted thousands of dollars in bail and were allowed to leave federal custody, The Post can exclusively reveal. Hasan Yousef Hamdan, 32, and Mohammad Khair Dabous, 28, were released from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detention despite their immigration status — Hamdan had crossed into the country illegally in April and Dabous had overstayed his student visa and is subject to removal proceedings, law enforcement sources told The Post. They were arrested on May 3 for trespassing onto the military installation and handed over to ICE officers because of their immigration statuses.*** The two Jordanian nationals lied to guards at Quantico and claimed they worked for an Amazon subcontractor and were there to make a delivery, Capt. Michael Curtis, a spokesman for the base, previously told The Post. The officers quickly determined that the two had no business being there. The men, who were in a box truck, ignored instructions of military guards and tried to drive onto the base before they were stopped by anti-vehicle barriers.***
These two knuckleheads are part of a disturbing trend this year of illegal aliens attempting to enter military installations and surveil military personnel.

Why don't we vote on it, like in a democracy?
George Will has his panties in a bunch over the Comstock Act. Today it lives on at 18 U.S.C. §1461. It prohibits mailing pr0n or abortion devices/pills. Will wants a pardon for D.M. Bennett, author of a "23-page tract, 'Cupid’s Yokes, or The Binding Forces of Conjugal Life'”
Pres Rutherford B. Hayes pardoned Bennett, certainly no later than 1881. Why don't we just ask Congress to repeal 18 U.S.C. §1461?
Isn't repealing old, bad laws how things are supposed to work in a democracy?

Compare to the Secret Service stonewalling
NY Times notes:
Iran has arrested more than two dozen people, including senior intelligence officers, military officials and staff workers at a military-run guesthouse in Tehran, in response to a huge and humiliating security breach that enabled the assassination [of terrorist dirtbag Ismail Haniyeh].*** An Iranian member of the Revolutionary Guards, who requested anonymity because he was not authorized to speak, said he was not aware of the arrests, but said that security protocols had been completely overhauled in the past two days for senior officials. The security details for senior officials were changed, and electronic equipment such as mobile phones swapped. He said some senior officials had been moved to a different location.***
Look at how Secret Service directors Kimberly A. Cheatle and Ronald L. Rowe, Jr. responded to Crooks shooting Donald J. Trump. All they have done is stonewall Congress. It's not like some guy on the subway is asking them what they've been doing lately. Congress asks them how they failed, and they have no response. They just stonewall. Moreover, they seem to have no idea how to make things better.
I'm not suggesting that the U.S. arrest anyone.

The prosecutor you'd expect in NYC
A Bronx prosecutor abruptly resigned after he was caught on video allegedly attempting to meet a young boy he communicated with online, according to a clip produced by internet vigilantes who expose wannabe child predators. William C.C. Kemp-Neal, 30, quit his post in the Bronx District Attorney’s office four days after the group Dads Against Predators posted footage of him filmed in the parking lot of the Target on East Sandford Boulevard in Mount Vernon. In the clip taken July 8 at around 8:30 p.m., the video vigilantes approach a man identified as Kemp-Neal, asking if he’s Marcus. Almost immediately, Kemp-Neal — who graduated from Fordham Law in 2021 — runs. Kemp-Neal made $84,990 as an ADA, and handled mostly assault, harassment, and child endangerment cases.***

Jeffrey Toobin says the situation has gotten out of hand
More sickos are publicly pleasuring and exposing themselves on the streets of the Big Apple, crime statistics show — a nauseating development critics have chalked up to lax laws and a broken mental health system.   Reports of pervs fondling themselves out in the open soared 51% through June 30, up to 378 complaints from 251 during the same period in 2023, according to NYPD data.  Meanwhile cops issued 159 criminal summonses through June 30 citywide to New Yorkers whipping out their genitals — sometimes to urinate — a staggering 396% increase from the 32 tickets written in 2023, according to city data.*** Capt. Joel Rosenthal, commanding officer of the First Precinct, warned the outraged locals that even if the police busted the him in the act, the twisted perv likely would be cut loose in no time.  “This is a desk appearance ticket and a non-bail eligible offense, so he will be out within two hours,” he said. The push against incarceration, together with the city’s inability to hospitalize and effectively treat the severely mentally ill, has driven the surge in disturbing deviancy, according to Carolyn D. Gorman, a mental illness policy analyst at the Manhattan Institute. ***

A fugitive rapist who was on the run for 30 years was finally busted in Iowa after police stopped him for riding a bicycle without a rear reflector, bodycam footage of the arrest shows. George Hartleroad, 71, was stopped by police in West Des Moines on June 26 and provided them with a fake name and social security number, WCCI reported. Video shows the bearded Hartleroad give his name as “Gregory Stallins,” and tell the officer that he is homeless and has been living in Iowa since 1991. He had no driver’s license on his person.*** “Alright brother, time to be honest with me, OK? So the info you give me comes back to a dead guy. Gregory Stallins is dead,” an officer is heard questioning Hartleroad in the video.*** At one point, police asked him to remove his hat so they could snap a photo to run through a facial recognition program.  Hartleroad eventually confessed his true identity. The officer then learned the real man he stopped has been wanted by authorities in Wisconsin since 1994 when he escaped from a halfway house, according to the station.*** He was convicted of rape in 1983 and served five years in prison, Wisconsin records show. Hartleroad said he would go back on the run the next chance he got. “I will jump again as soon as they turn me loose,” he tells the officers as they take him into custody. “They’ve been up in my ass for … 41 years now on a 9-year sentence,” he added. He is in now custody of the Wisconsin Department of Corrections after he was taken across state lines.

I think they need to be stripped of some of their …. I don’t like they have guns.”***

Guglielmi’s statement did not address that aspect of the report.***
RealClearPolitics also reported that DNA testing on the bag returned a “partial hit,” meaning it may have matched a “blood relative of a finite pool of people.” However, additional searches for DNA matches were not conducted, according to the outlet.

Good essay by Justice Gorsuch
Our country has always been a nation of laws, but something has changed dramatically in recent decades. Contrary to the narrative that Congress is racked by an inability to pass bills, the number of laws in our country has simply exploded. Less than 100 years ago, all of the federal government’s statutes fit into a single volume. By 2018, the U.S. Code encompassed 54 volumes and approximately 60,000 pages. Over the past decade, Congress has adopted an average of 344 new pieces of legislation each session. That amounts to 2 million to 3 million words of new federal law each year. Even the length of bills has grown—from an average of about two pages in the 1950s to 18 today. And that’s just the average. Nowadays, it’s not unusual for new laws to span hundreds of pages. The No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 ran more than 600 pages, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010 almost 1,000 pages, and the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2021—which included a COVID-19 relief package—more than 5,000 pages. About the last one, the chair of the House Rules Committee quipped that “if we provide[d] everyone a paper copy we would have to destroy an entire forest.” Buried in the bill were provisions for horse racing, approvals for two new Smithsonian museums, and a section on foreign policy regarding Tibet. By comparison, the landmark protections afforded by the Civil Rights Act of 1964 took just 28 pages to describe. These figures from Congress only begin to tell the story. Federal agencies have been busy too. They write new rules and regulations implementing or interpreting Congress’s laws. Many bear the force of law. Thanks in part to Supreme Court Justice Louis Brandeis, agencies now publish their proposals and final rules in the Federal Register; their final regulations can also be found in the Code of Federal Regulations. When the Federal Register started in 1936, it was 16 pages long. In recent years, that publication has grown by an average of more than 70,000 pages annually.*** a few years ago the Office of Management and Budget asked agencies to make their guidance available in searchable online databases. But some agencies resisted. Why? By some accounts, they simply had no idea where to find all of their own guidance. Ultimately, officials abandoned the idea. Judicial decisions contain vital information about how our laws and rules operate. Today, most of these decisions can be found in searchable electronic databases, but some come with high subscription fees. If you can’t afford those, you may have to consult a library. Good luck finding what you need there: Reported federal decisions now fill more than 5,000 volumes. Each volume clocks in at about 1,000 pages, for a total of more than 5 million pages.  *** You might think that federal criminal laws are reserved for the worst of the worst—individuals who have committed acts so egregious that they merit the attention not just of state authorities but of federal authorities, and not just civil fines but potential prison time. But if that’s your intuition, ask yourself this question: How many federal crimes do you think we have these days? It turns out no one knows. Yes, every few years some enterprising academic or government official sets out to count them. They devote considerable resources and time (often years) to the task. But in the end, they come up short.*** Numbers tell part of the story, but only a part. Today, the law touches our lives in very different ways than it once did. In the past, the rules that governed what happened in our homes, families, houses of worship, and schools were found less in law than in custom or were left to private agreement and individual judgment. Even in the areas of life where law has long played a larger role, its character has changed. Once, most of our law came from local and state authorities; now federal law often dominates.***
J. Gorsuch referred to Yates v. United States, 574 U. S. 528 (2015). The government had a weird theory that Yates had caught undersized red snappers, and then when he was caught by the feds, he had thrown out those fish and replaced them with other undersized red snappers. He was convicted. He appealed to the 11th Cir. which affirmed his conviction. He was lucky the Supreme Court reversed his conviction by 5-4.
Interestingly, the dissent in Yates largely agreed with J. Gorsuch that
That brings to the surface the real issue: overcriminalization and excessive punishment in the U. S. Code.*** Still and all, I tend to think, for the reasons the plurality gives, that § 1519 is a bad law—too broad and undifferentiated, with too-high maximum penalties, which give prosecutors too much leverage and sentencers too much discretion. And I'd go further: In those ways, § 1519 is unfortunately not an outlier, but an emblem of a deeper pathology in the federal criminal code. 574 U.S. 569 - 70.

Sending blessings on the Prophet (ﷺ) on Fridays
So there is plenty of rewards for reciting Salat and Salam (Durood) every day and especially so on Fridays. One may reap these rewards with which ever wordings of Salat and Salam (Durood) one uses...
[Narrated by Tirmithi #484 and he said it is sound (Hasan Gharib)]
Concerning Salat and Durood specifically on Fridays the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:
Based on this Imam Shafe’e used to say, “I love to send plenty of Salat upon the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) all the time and I love it more so on the day of Jum’uah.” [Kitabul Umm 1/546]
So there is plenty of rewards for reciting Salat and Salam (Durood) every day and especially so on Fridays. One may reap these rewards with which ever wordings of Salat and Salam (Durood) one uses.
There is a specific Hadith that speaks about Salat was Salaam (Durood) after ‘Asr on a Friday:
من صلى صلاة العصر من يوم الجمعة فقال قبل أن يقوم من مكانه  [اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدِنِ النَّبِيِّ الْأُمِّيِّ وَعَلَى آلِهِ وَسَلِّمْ تَسْلِيْمًا]  ثمانين مرة غفرت له ذنوب ثمانين عاما وكتبت له عبادة ثمانين سنة
Imam ‘Iraqi and others have declared this one as sound (Hasan).” (Al-Qawlul Badi’, pg.400 & Sharhul Ihya, vol.3 pg.286)
In conclusion,
Durood Shareef (Salat and Salam) is encouraged every-day and especially on Fridays.
And Allah Most High knows best.

SP - Qin, Y., Omar, B., & Musetti, A. (2022). The addiction behavior of short-form video app TikTok: The information quality and system quality perspective. Frontiers in Psychology - D&AD
TikTok enables users to capture memorable moments and create short-form videos to record their lives. It brings lots of entertainment to people but is also becoming a new form of social media addiction
TikTok has the most advanced algorithm system, especially in terms of participation, content, and types of interaction, which makes the addiction problem of TikTok more severe than the other popular social media (Zhang X. et al., 2019; Iram and Aggarwal, 2020; Zhao, 2021; Smith and Short, 2022). While the underlying adverse symptoms of addiction are similar across different platforms, the intensity and driving factors of TikTok addiction are unique
Based on the data statistics of TikTok penetration in China, the largest group of users is 6–17 years old, accounting for 31.59%, followed by 18–24 years old (30.14%), 25–30 years old (20.85%), 31–35 years old (8.66%), and over 35 years old (8.76%)
Given the complexity of addiction behavior, scholars generally acknowledge a closed-loop relationship between TikTok addiction and algorithm optimization (Zhao, 2021). Users seem to be caught in an entertainment spiral. Studies on social media addiction have examined some external factors causing addiction behavior such as technical factors (Gao L. et al., 2017; Hasan et al., 2018). There are also some evidences from past studies suggesting the influence of flow experience—an inner feeling of enjoyment, concentration, and time distortion—in determining users’ addiction behavior (Zhao and Zhou, 2021).
The S–O–R model, also known as the environmental psychological model, was developed by Mehrabian and Russell (1974). The S–O–R framework proposed that the environmental aspects, which were regarded as environment stimulus (S), work together to affect people’s internal state (O), for example, psychological, cognitive, emotional, and intellectual internal states, which finally leads to specific execution of individual response (R) (Mehrabian and Russell, 1974; Moon et al., 2016). According to the S–O–R paradigm, the external environmental stimulus extended from the physical environment (such as technology and layout) to the individual inner state (cognitive and affective), causing an approach or avoidance response (Tuerlan et al., 2021).
More specifically, conciseness, subscription, and usefulness were used to measure information quality, while flexibility, integration, ease of use, and response time were used to measure system quality. TikTok was equipped with advanced algorithm techniques for video recommendations of users. All the videos that users browsed depended on the system recommendation. TikTok system accurately calculated what each user was interested in based on a series of data mining, such as the user’s login method, the network-associated personal information, and the content of likes. These information contents were of high quality and could meet users’ appetites. Therefore, high information and system quality can provide a great online experience for users (Al-Fraihat et al., 2020).
In the context of the short-form video TikTok application environment, users were exposed to many technical characteristics or advanced functions, which can provide them with high information and system quality, such as interesting functions and personalized videos, which were full of addictive entertainment value. Thus, the integration of environmental stimulus and internal organism triggered the specific TikTok addiction behavior. This study regarded addiction behavior as part of the adverse consequences of flow experiences associated with the use of TikTok.
the findings of this study indicated that the linkage between system quality and flow experience (enjoyment, concentration, and time distortion) were relatively higher than the relationships between information quality and all dimensions of flow experience, while the mediation effect of time distortion to information quality and TikTok addiction behavior was insignificant.
In other words, the system quality contributed more to users’ flow experience and addiction behavior, because TikTok’s rigorous algorithm system enhanced the deep interaction with the user and therefore provided high-quality creative content (Yu, 2019), making the videos highly comprehensive and meeting user requirements (Zhang and Liu, 2021). Thereby adolescents were more likely to step into a flow experience.
this study regarded the flow as an organism and broke it into enjoyment, concentration, and time distortion. We empirically proved their positive effect on TikTok addiction behavior.
we found that concentration was the most important factor in TikTok addiction behavior. The flow theory may provide a possible explanation. Wang (2020) and Pelet et al. (2017) agreed that concentration was the key factor in flow. When users, especially adolescents users, were having fun online, it was hard for them to break off from the ongoing entertainment activities, except for compelling interruption from the real world (Rau et al., 2006; Montag et al., 2019), for example, parental control, academic work pressure, etc. Therefore, concentration was the critical representation of the user’s deep immersion which led to TikTok addiction behavior.
This article provided me with information regarding addiction to social media aided by short-form video viewing and why short-form video is so addicting. This highlights to me that a big way in which younger users are affected by spending too long on social media is short-form video and its tactics to envelop you in the endless flow of reels and TikToks. Utilising a format like this to communicate to our target audience may prove useful. As young designers, we are users of Reels and TikTok and understand the conventions of the formats e.g. the register, the trends, the visuals etc. so understanding the demographics' responses to certain visuals would be quite achievable for us. Basing this upon the brief, using a medium like this would a) help us communicate directly to the target audience of younger users and b) utilise the format of phones to create the campaign

I’m not gonna get into the text of the series b/c  @rejectedfables and  @labyrynth got that clearly down pat but some cultural history here:
And also – we don’t know everything about MDZS’s setting – but in irl historical China, male consorts were totally a thing, and it was fine. People might be shitty about you being sex-work adjacent, but it was less homophobic than a lot of other cultures.
so like, MXTX isn’t writing historical fiction, she’s writing fantasy fiction that has more modern day values interwoven into the narrative. We know that homosexuality isn’t 100% accepted by cultivation society because LWJ is scared and frightened and hyper repressing his attraction towards WWX. Self-acceptance of one’s sexuality is a recurring theme in both SVSSS and MDZS. MXTX is writing her story from the modern day POV of a Chinese woman where until 1997 where sodomy was illegal and considered “hooliganism”. Where gay content was banned on weibo until 2018, a decision that was reversed in 2021 unfortunately. I also thoroughly recommend this video essay on Leslie Cheung who did a ton for the queer community in Hong Kong and China and suffered an insane amount of homophobic harassment and bigotry in his career in the 80s and 90s (he committed suicide in the early 00s).
There’s also the general history of debates around Confucianism where not having children is one of the greatest sins against filial piety. Which is why, historically, you could have a relationship with a man or woman, but you had to also be married to someone of the opposite sex to continue the ancestral family line. The truth is probably somewhere more in the middle where Emperors could have male concubines but they also HAD to have children too. And they couldn’t legally marry their male partners.
Given all that historical and cultural context, it’s simply not a black and white issue of “back in the day China was 100% accepting of the gays and that’s what MXTX is basing her story off of”. Because it seems very unlikely given the meta-text and the canonical text that’s what she’s channeling in her work. Cultivation novels are not historical fiction in the same way like, The Other Boylan Girl is. For more on that and the general history and development of Wuxia and Xianxia (cultivation) tropes I recommend this essay.
And also, in the US, definitely ACAB. But I think that’s because of bad policy and deep cultural problems. I’m not a prison abolitionist. Some people just are going to exploit others at every opportunity, and we need to use force and punishment to minimize that.
Prison abolition doesn’t advocate for the eradication of all prisons. It advocates for reform, reduction of police force, redistribution of government spending towards over policing (police do not need fucking tanks), the eradication of racist and classist laws and police policies, addressing community problems that contribute to crime, and investing in housing, education, jobs, and health.
For anyone interested I implore you to read this article from The Marshall Project that speaks with prison abolitionists. Please also note that while yes, we should lock the Ted Bundy’s of the world up as they can not be reformed, most people in prisons are in their for petty crimes. According to the statistics by the Federal Bureau of Prisons official government website, as of April 2023 the crime that most inmates were incarnated for was drug offenses at a staggering 66,236 people. You can actually see how drug offenses skew the chart:
Tumblr media
And in far to many states you can get charged with a drug felony for carrying weed. This is what prison abolitionists are fighting against.
Finally, definitely ACAB in China too. Or are we all forgetting how horrifically police treated Hong Kong protesters only two years ago? Here have another article on it. You can also watch this video by Hasan Minhaj about the governments censorship and how police enforce those laws. This isn’t a “China bad” take, governments in general are typically run by people who first and foremost abuse the power given to them by the state and the people. The US isn’t exempt from this either as much as we like to pretend we are. Police ultimately, are enforcers of the state, even more so than the military because police directly enforce the day-to-day government mandated status quo. They’re the first on the line when dealing with citizens.
So yeah, ACAB for all cops, including NMJ’s busted ass who couldn’t understand oppression b/c he had absolutely no frame of reference to which to understand it growing up as a privileged noble who’s violence was given the gold star by the society around him. All because he had the right family background and name and status.

Tumblr media
I FEEL like you’re trying to wrap your head around the post, rather than flat out disagreeing with it. Here’s my recommended thinking points to help you out:
“He doesn’t have to obey his father or stay with the Jin Sect”
Jin Guangyao lives in a society wherein filial piety and filial respect/devotion is paramount. He is expected to be devoted to his parents and do as they say, and he will be publicly reviled if he doesn’t. Could he have simply never connected with his father? Sure, but he had no way of knowing how bad it would go, and once he DID connect it was too late to back out. (I’ll elaborate on this point later)
Jin Guangyao loved his mother, and her living AND dying wish was for him to be recognized by his father. Devotion to his mother’s wishes drives his devotion to his father.
Jin Guangyao lives in a society that HATES HIM because of his mother’s profession, no matter what he does. If they hate him when he’s doing everything “appropriately” they would treat him even worse if he openly broke the rules of society.
Jin Guangyao spends his entire life feeling (and BEING) unsafe because of how people view him due to his mother’s profession. His actions, which would have been understood as necessary and good were any member of the gentry to have performed them, are questioned and condemned because they were his.
When I say he spent his whole life being unsafe, I mean it. He went from the absolute bottom of society to the absolute top, and was NEVER safe. The entire society turned on him and he was literally killed WHILE he was holding the highest position in society. He feels unsafe, AND HE’S NOT WRONG.
Being Jin Guangshan’s son DID give him a modicum of protection that he didn’t otherwise have. It put him in a position to be abused by Madam Jin, and be reviled by people who knew his background, but it also offered him SOME protections he didn’t otherwise have. He is ONLY afforded these protections while following his father’s orders and displaying appropriate filial devotion. By the time he has been recognized as his father’s son, it is too late to escape the dangerous parts of this, but any wrong move would have revoked the protections.
“He could just go be Lan Xichen’s live in boyfriend”
Even if you just mean “he could have just joined the Lan sect and Lan Xichen would have taken care of him”, please revisit the filial piety points, and additionally consider that after a certain point, Jin Guangyao knew damning secrets about Jin Guangshan. JGS would have reasonably considered JGY going to the Lan sect to be a threat, and might have retaliated against either JGY or even the Lan sect itself.
Jin Guangyao grew up watching sex workers be mistreated by the people they relied on, and was then repeatedly mistreated by people HE relied on (his superior officers, his father, his father’s wife, etc.). Relying on others for safety does not feel safe to Jin Guangyao, because historically it has not been.
And if you DO mean literally being with Lan Xichen romantically/sexually: Jin Guangyao lives in a society that is broadly homophobic, so even if he WANTED to be a “stay at home boyfriend” that would have probably messed up Lan Xichen’s life/position AS WELL as his own, and Lan Xichen’s happiness matters a lot to him.
Jin Guangyao was trapped in a traumatizing marriage – he WANTED to marry her right up until learning The Bad Information, but at that point if he’d backed out he’d have been condemning her to his own mother’s fate of being an unwed mother reviled by society AT BEST, so he just never told anyone or touched her again and swallowed how awful the situation was. He took that all on himself and told NO ONE. But he also loathed his father’s infidelity, and therefore may have resisted seeking his own happiness because it would have been unfair to both his wife (none of it was her fault) and any potential lover he might take.
Also having an affair with Lan Xichen would potentially cause the same “JGS sees this as a threat” situation mentioned above, while he lived.
The heads of two sects being romantically entangled can cause Political Problems. JGY already has so much trouble having anything he suggests or supports be taken seriously, and LXC is one of his best allies – that would no longer be true if people could just say “Well, LXC is only agreeing with you because you’re fucking” as an easy way to dismiss anything they agree on.
Also, like… the guy has ambitions? He doesn’t WANT to be a house husband, he wants to IMPROVE SOCIETY, and that’s very cool and sexy of him actually?
Saying essentially “Why didn’t he just settle for being a secret boytoy for a sect leader” is giving me extremely “Why didn’t he just become his mom? Why would he ever think he had any right to his father’s power? How dare he try to better his own life or anyone else’s” vibes. Please ponder this.
“Nie Mingjue is a cop and that makes him a moral authority” (yikes)
If laws are inconsistently enforced, then they are not about fairness or justice, they’re about enforcing classism. Also all cops are bastards, etc. so jot that down
I’m being a tad facetious, yes, but also like… cops are NOT inherently morally upstanding, cops enforce oppression and cause terror, and if you are using them in a moral debate as pinnacles of virtue or beacons of morality then you are standing on a platform of crumbling sand.
Calling Nie Mingjue a cop IS big brained though, you’re absolutely right about that, he absolutely IS a cop, and Baxia is a metaphorical gun, welcome to my ted talk–
Nie Mingjue truly believes that his own actions are righteous while Jin Guangyao’s are criminal. This despite Jin Guangyao’s “crimes” being 1) calculated self defense after extensive mistreatment and 2) being a spy in a way that allowed him to win the war for everyone.
(in the novel, by the way, he kills Wen Rouhan TO SAVE Nie Mingjue, and NMJ still manages to climb on a high horse about it because he doesn’t seem to understand how “being undercover” works. So chew on that.)
NMJ says “killing enemies on the battlefield doesn’t count” and JGY says “why not” and NMJ says “because I said so” because he’s a COP (again, being facetious, but the whole point is, they just have different perspectives on morality but only NMJ’s is given any credibility by society because society loves his cop ass, and hates JGY no matter what he does)
There’s something really interesting to explore about how NMJ’s WHOLE ISSUE is not really “you committed crimes” but rather “I have been faced with the reality that I CANNOT TELL when you’re being genuine vs duplicitous, and therefore I HAVE to ALWAYS assume that you are lying, because I will never know for sure, and what if I’m wrong–” and therefore THERE IS NOTHING Jin Guangyao can do that will EVER make ANYTHING right with NMJ. And that has nothing to do with his actual actions being criminal.
Nie Mingjue gets to commit as many crimes and/or kill as many people as he wants, and he will always see it as justifiable because he understands why he did it, and that makes it okay. He doesn’t understand why Jin Guangyao does what he does, and that makes JGY’s actions unjustifiable to NMJ.
The things NMJ condemns JGY for were 1) killing his superior officer, who NMJ sent him to against his wishes and who was mistreating him and repeatedly sending him on suicide missions. JGY did this as calculated self defense. 2) being SNEAKY about killing that guy and not TURNING HIMSELF IN after. Calculated self defense would be dumb if you get executed right after. NMJ wouldn’t have been executed for this crime so he doesn’t get it, but JGY absolutely would have and knows it. 3) killing soldiers on Wen Rouhan’s orders while undercover. 4) Saying mean shit about NMJ’s dad while undercover. 5) Encouraging Huaisang to pursue art when NMJ only wanted him AT THE GUN RANGE at saber training. 6) Not letting NMJ kill Xue Yang, which would have been against JGS’s orders (and therefore would have BEEN a crime).
3,4 5, and 6 are, um. Legal? Like, those are all understandable even legally.
1 and 2 are understandable morally, if you’re not a privileged classist cop.
Additional Thoughts
The reason the audience is biased towards Nie Mingjue’s perspective is because Wei Wuxian is biased towards Nie Mingjue’s perspective. We see everything that happened through a spell called EMPATHY, which 1) we’re told in canon is a risky and overwhelming spell that is not recommended. and 2) Whenever Wei Wuxian does uses Empathy, he ends up 10000% agreeing with the person he has EMPATHIZED with. We are shown Nie Mingjue’s perspective, which IS BIASED, via the spell that might as well be called BIAS. But even GIVEN that, by the end of the book Wei Wuxian himself thinks “Oh wow, what’s happening to Jin Guangyao right now (being turned into a villain for other’s moral convenience, then dying for it) is exactly what happened to me, this sucks”
Also: yes, Nie Mingjue is absolutely abusing him. In the Villainous Friends extra it’s implied that Jin Guangyao often has bruises, and the two culprits are Madam Jin and Nie Mingjue. Nie Mingjue is CONSTANTLY threatening his life, AND kicks him down a very long flight of stairs. These are not government approved punishments for convicted crimes (a situation that may or may not be morally right but would at least be legal), they’re one sworn brother violently taking out his anger and distrust on another in a longstanding abusive relationship. Jin Guangyao WAS NOT arrested. He was not “arrested by a cop” he was just being abused by someone who felt morally righteous in performing said abuse. Nie Mingjue ABSOLUTELY IS “~abusing~” him, as well as ABUSING him (no ~~s necessary).
If a cop spends YEARS threatening to murder an ex undercover agent, in private while off duty, because he doesn’t like what said undercover agent had to do while undercover, routinely physically assaulting him, and no one does anything to protect said undercover agent despite everyone knowing what’s going on– at some point self defense DOES become appropriate. I’d personally say Jin Guanyao waited LONGER than he needed to to reach that point.
Hope this helps, ACAB, also I love your icon. Fuck yeah psyduck

Sending blessings on the Prophet (ﷺ) on Fridays
So there is plenty of rewards for reciting Salat and Salam (Durood) every day and especially so on Fridays. One may reap these rewards with which ever wordings of Salat and Salam (Durood) one uses...
[Narrated by Tirmithi #484 and he said it is sound (Hasan Gharib)]
Concerning Salat and Durood specifically on Fridays the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:
In conclusion,
Durood Shareef (Salat and Salam) is encouraged every-day and especially on Fridays.
And Allah Most High knows best.

January 2023: 1 of 12 mixtapes connecting the music of my childhood (Tamil pop) and the music that influenced me (sinophone indie) to the music of my new home (The Netherlands). This month: Ilaiyaraaja to Space Fruity Records, via Charlotte Adigéry and boba dream pop.
Tumblr media
Track-by-track notes: 1. Ilaiyaraaja - Raaja Rajathi (1988) (from 'Agni Natchathiram') This song - from a 1988 Mani Ratnam film - was a childhood favourite, and maybe even seeded my future love for minimal post-punk?
2. 昏鴉 The Murky Crows - 我們如此超群絕倫怎能居於世俗所見 (2015) One of the first Taiwanese bands I adored, and my introduction to the branch of twee sinophone indie that would define my life between 2015 and 2020. 3. Ilaiyaraaja - Vikram Vikram (1986) I only discovered this classic thanks to the recent remake of the cult 80s Kamal Hasan spy film Vikram, but I was familiar with the writer Sujatha, whose works were serialized in magazines like Kumutham. My literary magazine of choice between ages 7 and 13 was Gokulam, where I submitted many terrible sci-fi short stories that were thankfully never published. Does anyone remember the Undir family stories? 4. Stereolab - Metronomic Underground (1996) Stereolab was the first band that got me into live bootlegs, rarities, B-sides, and "sessions" recordings, now a standard part of how I consume music. 5. METZ - Wet Blanket (2012) METZ was the first band I did a tour poster for! 6. Charlotte Adigery and Bolis Pupul - Ceci N'est Pas un Cliche (2022) Belgian duo. The best, most joyous, and most exciting concert I saw in the Netherlands since moving to Amsterdam in 2022. 7. Gino Cochise - Fo Woa (2022) Amsterdam hip-hop artist. The artist I most want to see live in the Netherlands in 2023. 8. Chaar Diwaari - Kaun Mera? (2022) I get excited by an average of 1 (one) Indian hip-hop song every year. This was the one for 2022. 9. Naujawanan Baidar - Khyber Sound (from Kabul to Peshawar in Fullmoon) (2020) From an incredible album of anti-imperialist Afghan-rooted experimental music, from the now Netherlands-based N.R. Safi. 10. bed - WET (2022) I saw bed play at the back of the Foo Concepts milk tea shop in Rotterdam, the crowd sipping boba and swaying to dream pop. A perfect gig. Normalize milk tea at shows! Normalize shows at milk tea shops!
11. Ts Bayandalai - 灰色公马 (2020) Seeing Bayandalai play live was always a transcendent experience, and this is the album that makes me miss Beijing the most.
