Musicmaster bass pickup
#Musicmaster bass pickup mods
I'm pretty sure there have been others over the years. June 1956 saw the second production run of Musicmasters and the first Duo-Sonic models, which were distinguished by an additional single-coil pickup at the. Here is my updated version, correct spaced 4. And the Rick 650 guitar and 4004 bass use the same blade-type humbuckers. As you know, the original 70s Musicmaster basses just had regular guitar pickup with 6 pole magnets install. The Rick toaster used in the neck of some basses has 6 magnet polepieces, same pickup used in some guitar models. It will sound like a bass pickup when the instrument is tuned to the bass range.īesides the Musicmaster guitar pickup in the Musicmaster bass, The coils of Rick Hi-gains for guitar and bass are wound to identical specs, with 4 or 6 steel polepieces. My Vox Wyman came with a Strat pickup in the neck position. So there may be even more of an output mismatch than with the usual P/J setup. One issue you may have with a Strat pickup is that most of them are noticeably lower in output than a P or J pickup and you would be placing it in the bridge position, where there's less string travel. Turn the screws clockwise to raise and counterclockwise to lower the pickup. Using a guitar pickup with steel polepieces with the magnet(s) beneath are more likely to have problems with dropout between the strings if used on a bass. There are two height adjustment screws, one at each end of the pickup. Just do it! A SD lipstick gave my Musicmaster a bit more treble and growl.īlade-type guitar pickups will work, and pickups with magnet polepieces (like most Strat pickups) usually work well also. The Fender Musicmaster has a Strat pickup. There has been a few mentions of gibson using guitar pickups on basses, and I wondered if anyone had anything to say about sticking a strat single coil on a bass? I was daydreaming about giving my frankentele bass a bit of snarl by putting a jazz pickup close the bridge, but it occured to me that (a) i dont have a jazz pickup and (b) i have a handful of guitar pickups lying around

Here’s a #MacroMonday and #MustangMonday all rolled into one for you. . . Photo 1 show the neck stamp on my 1969 #FenderMustang. Although “16 May” is actually my anniversary (and, coincidentally, also my friend @kevinkanemusic’s anniversary!) so that’s pretty cool, the 16 here doesn’t refer to the 16th day of May. The 16 is a code that means this is a neck for a #Mustang or #DuoSonic or #Musicmaster or even a Bronco (they all used the same neck type). The “B” at the end represents the neck width. There were A, B and C neck widths with A being the narrowest and C being the widest. . . Photo 2 shows the date code on one of the pots. “6642” means the pot was manufactured in the 42nd week of 1966. So why would a guitar from 1969 have pots dated to 1966? Because #Fender made a huge bulk purchase of pots from CTS in 1966. They bought enough supply to last for several years, so were still installing pots made made in ‘66 as late as when this guitar was made in mid 1969! . . Photo 3 shows my personalized neck shims. Available in my web store lol. 😂 . . . #macro #macrophotography #guitarmacro #guitar #guitars #guitarra #chitarra #guitarre #electricguitar #vintageguitars #fenderguitars #vintagefender #tone #guitargear #guitarsofinstagram #geartalk #guitargear #vintagegear #guitarsdaily #fendersofinstagram #guitarphotography (at Toronto, Ontario) https://www.instagram.com/p/B0N4owvBZXv/?igshid=18x0e4hbrlcp8

So here’s the info on the new #amp from the last post: As many of you guessed, it’s a late 1946 or early 1947 #Princeton, a #Fender “#Woodie” - the first range of amps made under the Fender brand name. The Princeton was the smallest of the 3 Woodies (the other two were the #Model26 aka “Deluxe” and the “Professional”). This example is a bit of a “player”. The cabinet has been refinished and the grill cloth replaced. Normally I would not have wanted a refinned and regrilled amp...but how often do you see these come up for sale? (Hint: never! ) So I had to pounce on it. 😀 In the second photo (swipe left) you can see that the guts look to be all there except the metal Fender name plate is missing (note the clean-ish rectangular spot on the fabric at lower right where the plate used to be) but I am pleased to say that the amp has passed the City of Los Angeles safety test (the LA “approved” sticker is above the power cord at top right)! Internet sources say that Fender switched from a field coil speaker to a permanent magnet speaker some time in 1947, and I think that is a permanent magnet speaker, so I am guessing this amp probably dates to 1947 rather than ‘46 As I mentioned to Joe B. in the previous post, I have not actually played it yet. The seller said it was working the last time they fired it up, but that was a long time ago, and it could be dangerous and harmful to send a full 120 volts into a 72 year old amp without doing any prior testing. And I don’t own the equipment to bring the voltage up gradually. So I’ll be taking it to my amp tech @marshalllespaulfan in the next few weeks for him to give it a clean bill of health before I send the full wall voltage into its delicate antique guts! 😀 PS: it’s also #MusicmasterMonday, so that’s a 1957 Musicmaster in the photo. Of course when this amp was made Fender didn’t make any electric Spanish guitars...they only made lap steels in 1947. But this is the oldest #Fenderguitar I have! 😆 #guitar #guitars #amps #amplifiers #vintageguitars #vintageamps #fenderamp #tone #guitargear #guitarsdaily #guitarsofinstagram #geartalk #guitarsdaily #fendersofinstagram #guitarphotography #ampphotography https://www.instagram.com/p/Bs5-1rlHlMC/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1xrvlbuuj1duf

A HUGE thank you to @guitarfixr and @folkwaymusic for cutting me a new bone nut for the 1961 #Fender #Musicmaster. The factory original nut was so poorly cut that the low E string would slide off the side of the fretboard with even the slightest impetus (i.e. the slot was cut way too close to the edge) and the string spacing was too narrow between the G and B strings making it feel really weird. But the worst issue was that the nut slots were not cut deep enough, meaning that even when the open string was tuned perfectly it would play sharp when fretted at the first, second and (to a lesser extent) third fret! For example, you’d get F# by playing the low E string at the first fret! @guitarfixr fashioned this new bone nut and the guitar now feels comfortable and plays in perfect tune all the way up the neck. #fenderfriday #guitarrepair #luthier #folkwaymusic #guitar #guitars #guitarra #chitarra #guitarre #electricguitar #vintageguitars #fenderguitars #vintagefenders #tone #guitargear #guitarsofinstagram #geartalk #guitargear #vintagegear #guitarsdaily #fendersofinstagram #guitarphotography
