✧ characters. levi ackerman x reader
✧ summary. bedsharing trope with angst and some sprinkles of fluff if you squint a little ♡ is this even bedsharing ???
“because those girls thought we are still together, and we always sleep together in tents so they counted us as one.”
✧ notes. super self-indulgent bedsharing fic ♡ inspired by this song b/c it’s an ultimate favorite of mine. and also because i love bedsharing fics that’s all
it has been three months and it was a mutual decision.
everyday with him always ended with a sour mood, a sad face, a frown, a scowl, sleeping angry with the two of you laying down with the biggest distance between your bodies. angry, angry, and horrible and both of you knew.
so after a year— comes the break-up and it was exactly what you two needed.
but who ever thought of teaching these new recruits how to count? how could they not count properly as it goes easily from one to ten? it was taught in training, maybe in early education, or from their father or mother over a dining table, but it was easy.
one, two, three.
"what do you mean there isn't a spare tent?"
the young recruit shuddered under your eyes. she tried to smile, but it made her look constipated and she only shook her head. the other young girl beside her looked equally hopeless, probably beating themselves up for not counting properly.
"well?" you pushed, offering a hand as you looked at their wagon.
it was empty, mockingly empty.
the night's getting close and by whatever this trial is of sleeping outside the comfort of the warm headquarters to teach these young ones how to survive the outside, and yet here you are, already dying because they have no spare tent.
"we thought..."
"thought what?"
"we counted..."
"counted?!"
"we counted you and captain levi as one, because you two are together, and you always shared tents with him! but we didn't know that you broke up with him, and we only knew about it now. so we have no spare tents because we thought you would be sleeping with the captain!"
the girl blinked before you while the other panted for air as she spat out her quick spiel for not having a spare tent.
the wind has been getting colder, and before you could sleep with only a coat over your body but now... the wind made your toes curl and made your whole body shiver.
you turned behind you, instantly looking at him who was helping the others set up their own tent. he commanded the others to help and proceed to set up their own before it gets too dark and cold to do so. you whipped your head back towards the girls, sighing deeply because you wanted to be angry but there was no reason to because... it's there already, can't be fixed.
but it can be fixed and it involves with you kneeling down and asking for a spot beside him because you are not about to sleep outside in the cold.
the girls gulped under your look, and you pointed at yourself for holding on to their words. they look alarmed as you inched closer, "i didn't break up with him. we both wanted to break up, you got it?"
the wind blew over your whole body as you stomped towards where the supposed tent is. his back was turned on you as he hammered the nail deeper into the ground— fully knowing that you were behind him.
you cleared your throat, tightening your arms across your chest as you rocked your foot gently, looking up because you aren't ready to meet his smug face.
but he didn't turn around. he kept hammering the nail down even when it was perfect already. he moved his head to the side to hear you clear your throat again, and again, until you couldn't take it.
"levi."
"what."
levi brushed the grass off of his trousers as he raised to his feet. he dropped the hammer back on to the grass as he crossed his arms. he watched you pinch your arm in an attempt to calm yourself— to ask him, for something he knows that you will ask.
"can i sleep with you?"
he arched a brow, waiting for more.
oh, his smug face, you thought.
no matter how impassive he stared, you knew that underneath all that he is smiling widely and is enjoying this— which he was.
"please?" you pushed, hauling your bag to the side of his tent.
levi didn't answer because he wanted to hear more. for three months, he waited for you to come up to him with something, even when he found himself hiding away. this was just an oppurtunity to fix that was long broken before it even started— but he's just enjoying, enjoying, this sweet, stubborn begging from you.
"please?"
"fine," levi answered, and you immediately crouched down to be inside the tent. he shook his head, bending down slightly to pop his head inside, "but why?"
it made you angry again.
"because those girls thought we are still together, and we always sleep together in tents so they counted us as one."
levi clicked his tongue as you whipped your head towards him, eyes ablazed as you looked at him. his grey eyes inspected the small tent, wondering how the two of you could fit now with the smallest distance in that tent. he was about to comment on not to take the left side because that was closest to the opening and his spot, but he kept his mouth shut as you instinctually went back to your things, moving them to the right like you always do.
he left without a word, hearing you mutter to yourself as you cursed this whole situation.
levi roamed around the few tents and being in charge, he barked gentle orders to the new recruits as they settled inside their own tents after their dinner. he didn't see you anywhere after the dinner, didn't even mingle with the others as you usually would do, so he gave a few extra minutes before he went inside his tent where he figured you would be in already.
and he was right. because there you were, cramped and kneeling down in the tent, as you tried to unclasp the stiff leather harnesses around your chest and back to get a more comfortable sleep.
levi turned his back, removing his jacket as he folded it into the side. he turned his head once more, watching your fingers fiddled with the hard material as he busied himself with the boots, placing them beside yours. he turned to his cravat as he folded them inside his jacket— and you were still busy with the harnesses.
“you can ask for help,” levi hinted, unbuttoning his shirt at the collar, turning his head towards you.
“i don’t need your help,” you snarled, tugging on your leathers on the chest and back, hoping to find some success but to no avail.
he sighed quietly, kneeling down beside you, swatting your hands away from your back. he tugged harder, hearing you groan embarrassingly as he worked his way out of your leathers, helping you successfully untangle yourself. you moved your head to the side, eyeing his work but he didn't stop there, because he helped you untangle the ones over your thighs and legs.
"thank you," you murmured, accepting your harnesses as you fixed them up beside his clothes.
levi only grunted in return as he began with his own effortlessly, while you crawled into the sleeping pad, settling on the furthest right as you laid down stiff as a log.
the sweet, soft patch of grass was as perfect as the sleeping pad and you fought yourself not to yawn and close your eyes as you didn’t want to disrupt whatever levi needs to do with the candles on. but levi made it impossible when he blew on one candle, dimming the light in the tent as he proceeded to fix his side and clothes.
the small things with him and it has you melting into sleep already. levi caught on your surpressed yawn, quieting his movements to make room for you to rest after an exhausting day. after that, he crawled beside you with his back on you, settling down and shying just an inch away from each other.
you have no idea how long you have been asleep. the darkness engulfed your eyes, and it took a while adjusting. you blinked a couple more, your mind slowly waking up to the slightest movement beside you as you draped an arm around the space beside you. it was automatic in your mind to look for him, feel for him when you wake up without him beside you.
"levi?" you croaked, hand blindly patting his side, until you feel his seated figure in the dark before you. you tugged on his shirt, just to feel him— just to know if he was there and he softly leaned on your hand. "levi?"
"go back to sleep," levi murmured in the dark, his head turning to where you were even when he could only see your silhouette.
"hmmm," you hummed, turning your body to the side to curl up a little. you dropped your hand from his back, tucking it underneath your cheek as you closed your eyes. you felt his arm brushed over your waist as he fixed the coat over your body properly while you snuggled deeper.
"sleep," he whispered, pulling his knees up as he laid his arms over it.
after a few minutes, and you couldn't— not when you heard him give out the deepest sigh as he sat on the pad in the dark, the usual. even three months of the split, you still now this about him. the nights you have spent calling out his name, only for him to be far away because he couldn't sleep. the only thing that could make him lay down comfortably is when you would reach out to his hand, guiding him back beside you.
but you don't know if it was still appropriate, because you two aren't together. a mutual decision, and even as every bit mutual it is, it felt too different and unsettling. still, you weren’t a nobody to not comfort him through his night. so you did the best thing that you could think of, no matter how hard it was to strip the sleep away from your tired body but you did it anyway for him.
your shoulder brushed his as you sat beside him, yawning as you stretched your legs as you pulled them to your chest. you rested your head on top of your arms as levi tensed beside you.
“what are you doing?” levi softly asked, turning his head to the side as you yawned gently.
“you can’t sleep so i’m staying up with you.”
“i said go to sleep.”
“you can’t tell me what to do,” you muttered, resting your cheek on your arm as you traced his features with your eyes in the soft, tented moonlight.
“we have to be up in a couple of hours, so, rest.”
“i will stay up if i want to.”
three months of avoidance, three months of excuses of the split and this has been the closest the two of you have been. like a lost continuation to the story you two have been trying so hard to narrate only for it to be unfinished in the end.
it isn’t always horrible with him. everyday with him was filled with the small things, the details that made your heart flutter: that whenever you wake up just for him to feel his arm lazily on top of yours, or when he polishes your boots, when he piles your things neatly, kissing your shoulder, holding your little finger in secret, a hand on your back as he passes, the quiet “hi’s” mumbled, or his palm turning over yours as he let you hold his hand when he couldn’t sleep at night.
levi felt your finger tap on his knee as you nudged him with your shoulder, making him intake sharply. suddenly, he felt your hand on top of his, clutching it gently while you turned your head straight ahead. levi didn’t even try to question or fight it— because just this once and last time, he wants to. he turned his palm over, fitting his fingers into the spaces as he held on to yours while the two of you sat down together in the dark.
seconds, minutes has passed before he finally had enough of the sitting. he looked down at the intertwined fingers before stretching his shoulder.
“i’m going to lay down,” levi sighed.
“okay.”
and he did. and he held on to your hand, as he settled in on his side. he tugged on your fingers, making you look back at him, smiling as he tugged again, urging you to lay down too.
“are we going to sleep?” you yawned, curling up beside him, facing him. “do you want me to hold your hand?”
“don’t coddle me,” levi scoffed, turning his head away while he laid on his back.
“hah,” you huffed, closing your eyes as levi placed your intertwined hands in the space between your bodies. “if i pull away, don’t come crying to me.”
“go. to. sleep,” levi harshly whispered —faintly squeezing your hand.
“i should say the same to you.”
“speak more and i don’t think i’ll ever get to sleep.”
you chuckled softly, snuggling closely until the faint press of your cheek is upon his shoulder. levi turned his face, his lips close to your forehead as he breathed deeply, awaiting for sleep. he could see through the sliver of the moonlight as you moved in closer to him, lips slightly parted as sleep clouded your mind.
levi couldn’t help but breathe a little better, think a little gentler when you are close to him— as if everything is shutting down for the day, and he only wanted to drown in the sense of you. but he shouldn’t, because it was over. it was a mutual agreement, and he admitted how it was such a good decision for the both of you, but he couldn’t help but be bitter.
“where did we go wrong?” levi asked in the night, turning his face away. he held on to your hand while he absently soothed you, sighing deeply as he let his mind rest into the clouds with the feeling of you.
where did we go wrong?
you flutter your eyes open, resting your chin on his shoulder as levi slept beside you. his hair framed his face, falling sloppily on his forehead, making you want to brush them away— push them away just to get a better look at his face. but you stopped your fingers just at the tips of his hair, retreating them back to hold on to his arm.
the smallest distance you have shared with him after breaking up and it has got you messed up in the mind. but sleep never came that easy, because his question stayed unanswered.
his morning view. it wasn’t the ugly shade of the tent or the way the recruits outside laughed outside. it was the way your cheek was pressed on his shoulder, almost leaving little no space on his side because you have completely moved closer to him.
levi has been awake for almost an hour, unmoving and still as he waited for you to pry away your tangled arms and legs with his, both of your hands still lazily intertwined with each other and levi perfected his fake sleeping position while he felt you stir awake beside him.
he has done this so many times, almost waiting for you brush his hair away as you gently moved away from him. it almost didn’t happened as he listened to your shaky breathing, knowing that you were hesitating. levi didn’t really expect you to brush his hair away— let alone hold his hand, so he threw away that thought.
yet, his heart almost stopped when he felt your fingertips brush his cheek in the softest gesture, as you murmured a little, “levi?”
but he didn’t respond. he was supposed to be sleeping.
“still asleep?” you whispered so softly, feeling your hand brush his bangs away.
he could feel the futon crumbling under your weight as you untangled your legs, yawning gently as you stood up, while he listened to you move around. you stopped for a moment, and levi almost opened his eyes to see where you have gone to, but he only felt your hands rustle down his blanket, covering his feet— tucking it underneath the covers. then, you were off.
you have been gone for awhile, and levi finally opened his eyes— letting out the biggest exhale that he didn’t know he was holding. levi stretched his neck, rubbing circles into his nape, feeling the aftermath of having his head faced to the side while he slept as he sat up.
he closed his eyes, seething through the sensation, while he tried to move his neck to side, taking a deep breath whenever it hurt. he didn’t even hear you come inside— he only opened his eyes in surprise when he felt your hand on his knee, squeezing it while you crouched beside him.
“does your neck hurt?” you smiled, holding out a warm cup of tea for him. levi looked down at your hand, his eyes wondering but you answered it right away. “i saw it in your bag, i’m sorry. i thought i’d make you tea as a thank you.”
“hmm,” levi nodded, accepting the warm drink from your hands.
you sat down near his feet, blowing on your own drink as you two sat in silence— listening to the trainees outside the tent.
“we go back to the headquarters in a while,” you mumbled, looking at the liquid in your cup.
“we should get ready,” levi murmured, his lips on the brim of the tea you have brought him. he wanted nothing more than to wrap his blanket around you, noticing the small sniffle from the crisp weather— but he fought over it.
tea all smell the same to him whenever he does it, but it feels different whenever you make it for him and it almost made him smile.
the air has settled once more, both of you sipping silently, relishing in the stillness of the night and the morning spent together. levi watched you blow on your tea, placing it firmly in between your hands, moving it around gently— both of you not moving a muscle to prepare for the way back. he stayed on his spot, enjoying his tea as he looked at you carefully, noticing the deep furrowed brows on your face— painted deep in worry and dread.
levi sighed gently, making you look at him. if there was something bothering you, he was sure it was because of what he said last night. he thought you were asleep right away, because he read the tiredness in your eyes but he must’ve missed it. he took the blanket off of his body, moving to sit beside you.
his shoulder brushed yours in a greeting, as his hand found its way towards yours. “cold?”
“a little,” you murmured, turning your hand over as he intertwined your hands together— warmth from the tea swirling in between the two of you. levi stared ahead into nothing, gently smiling, as you placed your head on his shoulder, tightening your hold over his.
holding each other just for the last time, leaving the question still unanswered, as you two sat down together in the early morning.

ANIMAL / S : Cats, coeurls, dogs.
NUMBER : 7
COLORS : Red, browns, black, gunmetal
EXTRA. TALENTS : She's a blunt instrument, so beating the shit out of things. Flirting. Fixing things, usually the mechanical variety. Making friends. Diffusing social conflicts as often as she creates them. She's a good cook, but it's suitable really nowhere else but over a fire with a beast's flank in one hand and a metal spit in the other.
BAD AT : Love. Understanding and accepting her feelings. Has a chronic case of Foot-in-Mouth Disease. Has a long fuse, but her temper can spin out of control when pressed. Terrible at restraint and not being reckless and impulsive.
TURN ONS : Stockings, especially with the seam up the back. The nape of a woman's neck. Banter. Compliments. Smiles. Give her a smile and a coquettish eyelash flutter or make her feel strong and she's useless putty in your hands.
TURN OFFS : Flirtatious men, cowards, cruelty, Garleans.
HOBBIES : Fishing, tinkering, gambling, trying new foods, sparring and training, exercise.
TROPES : You Can’t Go Home Again, Badass Longcoat, Dark-Skinned Readhead, Cannot Spit It Out, Hot-Blooded, Scars Are Forever, Everyone Can See It, Artificial Limbs, Berserk Button, Unusual Eyebrows, Dark and Troubled Past, Rage Breaking Point, Cool Bike, Hot-Blooded Sideburns, Fiery Redhead, Red Oni Blue Oni, Gun Blade, La Résistance, Spell Blade, Love Epiphany, Bruiser with a Soft Center, Didn’t Think This Through (Gonna stop now or I’ll be here all night)
QUOTES : “Ah, fuck.”
MUN QUESTIONS. Q1 : If you could write your character your way in their own movie, what would it be called, what style would it be filmed in, and what would it be about?
A1 : John Wick mixed with Final Fantasy VIII mixed with Drive but with Garlean soldiers, turncoats, gay bro content, a sorceress, and also heaps of gay in general.
Q2 : What would their soundtrack/score sound like?
A2 : Chromatic rock, Nightrun, hair metal, a lot of Deftones, Tool, the Weeknd, indie and acoustic rock for angst.
Q3 : Why did you start writing this character?
A3 : When viera were teased at Fanfest, I lost my mind and have been unable to concentrate on any other character since. Aja was actually going to be a hrothgar, but when they genderlocked them and the model and general design didn’t fit her body type, well… plans changed.
Q4 : What first attracted you to this character?
A4 : Much like @yascaret’s answer, getting my gay hands on viera in FFTA and being obsessed since then. I wanted to write a warrior, a little battered but unbroken despite everything. She came out differently than originally planned, but in a good way. She’s just an even bigger himbo now.
Q5 : Describe the biggest thing you dislike about your muse.
A5 : I worry about Flanderizing her too hard, because while she is a big flirtatious himbo idiot I also want it to come across that she has depth.
Q6 : What do you have in common with your muse?
A6 : Not a lot. I guess we're both stubborn idiots with very long fuses that nonetheless eventually explode and/or destroy whatever is on the receiving end. Also what's gender precious
Q7 : How does your muse feel about you?
A7 : She probably wouldnt acknowledge me at all, but we might bond over spicy noodles.
Q8 : What characters does your muse have interesting interactions with ?
A8 : Lofn and Pjel are the obvious choice, but… Lofn and Pjel. I really love writing her alongside and against them because their personality traits both complement and chafe against one another, often in the same scene. Also I love their chemistry and look forward to how that plays out. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Q9 : What gives you inspiration to write your muse ?
A9 : B u n y d e a t h s q u a d. Just in general seeing my RP partners and roleplayers I haven’t interacted with yet writing and posting content for their characters really inspires me. As far as writing Aja, I take a handful of aesthetics, design elements, and themes and smash them together until something clicks. Listening to music and rolling through a prompt generator usually kick starts me into writing a drabble or developing something, and the FFXIV Write challenge has been great for that this month.
Q10 : How long did this take you to complete ?
A10 : About an afternoon and part of an evening. I fell into TV Tropes a little too hard near the end.

Friday 8 August 1828
7 50/60
12 1/2
All ready to be off, and breakfast in 20 minutes at 9 20/60 – Read Scotland tourist – saunter out to watch the arrival of the coach (from Edinburgh to Newcastle through Jedburgh) at 10 – said last night would send my luggage by it, and walk myself by Driburgh to Jedburgh – but determined this morning to miss Driburgh, and go by the coach – all in vain, the coach so full could not even take my luggage – wonder it did not break down –
Off in a chaise at 11 10/60 having put into the post office in passing a line or 2 ‘to the mistress of the Crown and Mitre Inn and coffee house Carlisle ‘to say my return there was uncertain, and begging her, at all rates, to send off my box by the York coach on Monday without fail – fine view of the Eildon hills (Scotland tourist 309/415), at 11 50/60 pretty hill-seated village of Newton – lodgings to let there could live there for a while – very hilly road – look over wide hilly plain! – pillar erected by the marquess of Lothian to the memory of those who fell at Waterloo, very conspicuous in the distance – fine rich country –
Turn left down to Driburgh suspension bridge (erected by the earl of Buchan Scotland Tourist 314/415) and alight at the bridge at 12 5/60 painted white – great white wooden suspension pillars with a transverse lying across them as a binder – not near so pretty as Melrose suspension bridge – the [zonic] round red sandstone temple to the 9 muses, on a little eminence at the end of the bridge, with a white Belvidere apollo in the middle of it – not in the regular grounds – not connected with anything – why put there? – Sir William Wallace, too, quite [white] on large red sandstone pediment at the top of ridge of hill among wood –
The abbey a considerable and beautiful remain but made up with garden walls, and orchards – the woman let me to what she called the hall – some of the gothic arch work round the stalls repaired in wood – and full of trumpery plaster of paris busts – in a niche – in one of the walls a good stone bust of the present lord Buchan when 59 – Sit Walter Scott’s burial place recorded as given to him in 1791 – his wife lies there – the house a modern good-looking sort of common reddish sandstone gents house closed up by fence walls – his lordship now in his 86th year, must always have been a man of sickly taste – his a natural son with him, but his nephew, Andrew Esskime, must succeed him – the scenery around the house would be beautiful if properly thrown open - scenery along the river pretty – precipitous red banks, and wooded slopes to the water’s edge – Lord B- [Buchan] takes toll or pontage for the bridge – the same rate for foot passengers at least as at Melrose –
Got back to the chaise at 12 50/60 it had just begun to rain before I left the abbey – inside for above an hour – till fair – rained very heavily for some time – some very fine timber about Ancrum house Sir William Scott, bart.
At 1 50/60 2 miles beyond Ancrum (right) see the long line of fir wood belonging to Chester (Ogilvie Esquire) – leave Ancrum 1/4 ? m. right – very hilly road – fine rich country – yellow corn – fine, green hedges and fir woods about the different [gentlemans] seats – especially the Marquess of Lothian’s Teviot hill – Lord Minto’s place among the wood on the hill, above and behind Chesters – at 2 pass over Ancrum bridge 3 red sandstone arches over broad shallow Teviot – turn left along beautiful little valley of the Jed – Jedburgh looks well – its new jail or castle on the hill and the fine old ruined abbey the tolbooth (old jail now partly turned into a library) in the town below fine objects –
Alight at the Spread Eagle Jedburgh at 2 40/60 See going towards the abbey inquire my way of a Mr White a brewer – very civil – even went all over the abbey and to the top of it with me – the abbey belongs to the Marquess of Lothian – by his sufferance they have a church in it – £2000 raised by subscription laid out in repairing the old tower (going to fall) a year or 2 ago – the marquess subscribed £200? – the present parapet round the top of the tower not like the old one good – but a great pity to have attended it – very large [remainder] – the largest I have seen – larger than Melrose – finer? if seen to advantage – too much choked up – the church in it spoils it – from the abbey to the castle or new jail – opened in 1822 – cost 6 or 7 thousand pounds 27 cells – a mill to grind barley for broth, instead of a tread mill – 2 men cannot work it longer than 5 minutes at a time – only 3 prisoners in for debt and 2 others – 1 man for attempt to murder, and a boy for petty theft – very neat, well-kept airy prison – went to the top – rather thick – or would be very fine view – fine view as it was over the town etc. –
[weens] Mr Cleghorn on the Newcastle road, about 7 miles off – went into the post-office (a booksellers shop) for a print of the abbey – the man very civil – sent to get me the best, though a bad one at 4d [pence] and then walked with me to see the point of view whence taken – took me to see ‘the philosopher’ James Veitch a self-taught mathematician and optician – a very John Oates but more learned – excellent microscope 4 guineas on a new principal, and a chromatic telescope when finished would be 12 guineas – both cheap – a very clever genius of a man – very civil to me – I talked about Euclid (algebra) etc. – he shewed me how he made an equal (a perfect) screw – shewed me a clock he had made which did not vary 4 seconds in a month – Lord Minto, and many other gents go and spend hours with him – he is a joiner by trade – likes Vincés astronomy - Lalandés and Callets logarithms –
Then my friend and I walked a little up the valley beautiful and continuous so for 4 miles – the Jed running along between fine red and wooded banks, the road crossing perpetually from 1 side to the other – picturesque straw thatched cottages – very beautiful little valley – at about the end of the 4 miles you turn off to weens on the Roole (as pronounced) water – Mr Cleghorn has lately lost an estate that had cost £12,000, and had to pay up arrears – it was bought on a bad title – he thus loses 1/3 of what he has, but this will not injure his respectability in the neighbourhood – his wife much liked – he quite a man of Science – has a taste for architecture etc. Travelled much abroad in Italy etc. – his father’s partner Mr Wilson who retired about 12 years ago has lost all he had but about £200 a year by buying on bad title – the cause came before the house of lords, and was lately decided against Messers Wilson and Cleghorn –
Walked round the great 3 branched oak tree – 6 yards round the bottom of the bole – ‘a very great tree for Scotland’ – my friend (Mr Renwick) gave me an egg cup made of the tree that grew in the abbey from the time of Surrey’s destroying it, 400 years – Mr Wight too met me again in the town and gave 3 little views 2 of Jedburgh and 1 of Kelso abbey – never met with people so civil – got back to the Inn at 6 10/60 – off Jedburgh a picturesque pretty little town – straw thatches going up to the castle – but picturesque -
In a chaise at 6 20/60 – hillyish road through a fine rich fertile well cultivated country – improves towards Kelso – Fleurs large handsome looking white-house (left) – beautiful descent down wooded road down upon the fine bridge and fine river (Tweed) – town very beautifully situated – beautiful and picturesque though not large remainder of the abbey – handsome square, or grande place – alight there at the Cross Keys – Yule, at 7 55/60 – (the white Swann the best inn)
Dinner at 8 40/60 – afterwards settling accounts and writing out today till 11 1/2 – rain from about 12 1/2 for above an hour and from about 6 1/4 to near 7 – went inside the first 35 minutes from Jedburgh – a gentleman would gladly have come with me from Jedburgh and paid 1/2 the chaise – declined – the poet Thomson educated in the school at Jedburgh near the abbey – born at Ednam near Kelso – upstairs at 11 3/4 –
In margin: Jedburgh abbey private property – belongs to the marquess of Lothian – by sufferance that the town has a church in part of the abbey – on this account repaired by subscription – the court of exchequer would have done it, but not being crown property, has nothing to do with it –

Ten architecture projects from students at the Academy of Art University
An aquarium designed to protect marine biodiversity and a healing centre using horticultural techniques to help treat mental illness are included in our latest school show by architecture students at the Academy of Art University.
Other projects include a "public living room" that blends neighbourhood life with areas for privacy and a residential hub designed to enable economic self-sufficiency for residents.
Academy of Art University
School: Academy of Art University, School of Architecture Courses: M.Arch M.Arch2 B.Arch MA and BA Tutor: Mark Mueckenheim, David Gill, Nicole Lambrou, Sameena Sitabkhan, Eoanna Harrison, Philip Ra and Mini Chu
School statement:
"We are a progressive design laboratory of highly passionate students and a distinguished faculty of practising architects who work together to explore the boundaries of architecture. Our interactive onsite and online studio experience harnesses digital tools to mentor students throughout our rigorous curriculum.
"We offer an excellent design education by developing each student's capacity to synthesise critical thought, architectural vision, and technical comprehension. Our programmes engage with current global issues, empowering students to be change-makers and leaders advocating for social equity. Our diverse international community enables us to propagate a unique cultural response to build a better world."
Outer Mission Ramp Library - a knowledge connector for rapidly changing communities by Yi Hsien Rachel Wang
"The typology of library buildings has evolved throughout history, reflecting the changes in information systems and learning activities. By combining social, functional and environmental benefits, the thesis is projecting a new sustainable library typology as a prototype for a public learning infrastructure.
"The main conceptual idea is to design the library as a continuous ramp, connecting previously separated areas in the diverse local city fabric. The architectural intervention shortens the neighbourhood's physical and social distances by combining pedestrian bridges, casual and formal learning infrastructure as a public living room for residents to gather, work, exercise and entertain."
Student: Yi Hsien Rachel Wang Course: Master of Architecture Thesis Tutor: Mark Mueckenheim
Self-generating Architecture: Pier 28 by Valeryia Haletskaya
"The design for a hybrid aquarium and research-development centre at Pier 28 on the San Francisco waterfront employs organic, metabolic and self-generating materials. Artificial organisms – protocells that in time grow into artificial limestone – help to decrease levels of carbon dioxide while reinforcing the existing structure and building its sea-wall reef, skeleton, and envelope.
"Researchers, students and visitors share spaces for learning, interaction, and collaboration. The scheme offers protection for marine species and enhances biodiversity. The living architectural intervention is aimed as a long-term solution for coastal cities and other areas at risk from storms surges due to climate change."
Student: Valeryia Haletskaya Course: Master of Architecture Thesis M.Arch Tutor: Mark Mueckenheim
Outer Mix Investigating mixed-use development as a means to fostering a healthy year-round community on the Outer Cape by Christian Fish
"A lack of affordable, year-round housing has become an urgent crisis on Cape Cod, afflicting low and middle-income families depending on a largely seasonal economy. Outer Mix imagines a new residential, social and economic hub on a 10-acre area in the Eastham Corridor Special District.
"Organised into four blocks repeated throughout the site, 95 residential units are combined with nearly 30,000 square feet of economic and social programming. This includes artist studios, co-working spaces, cafes, a library, daycare and community greenhouse. This programme mix enables economic and sustainable self-sufficiency and a community for residents."
Student: Christian Fish Course: Master of Architecture Thesis Tutor: Nicole Lambrou
Eco-Tecture - Unifying Ecology with Architecture by Kevin Brady
"How can architecture enhance, improve and support educational and public awareness of the conservation and preservation of our local natural resources? Exposure and access to the elements of nature enliven the spirit, inspire curiosity, and encourages a 'critical thinking' response while promoting a healthy interactive lifestyle.
"This thesis seeks to determine how architecture could positively impact an ecological setting that strengthens community health, productivity, conservation and ecological awareness. This design approach engages user groups with the natural environment while preserving the ecological habitat."
Student: Kevin Brady Course: Master of Architecture Thesis Tutor: David Gill
A Living Architecture by Aishwarya Naidu Bobbili
"This project is a healing centre incorporating earth and plants into its form and structure to create a holistic, sustainable space for wellness and rehabilitation. Farming, nature and architecture form a dialectic relationship. Horticultural techniques such as pleaching aid in the treatment of mental illness and serve as a therapeutic strategy.
"Located in Bakersfield, near Oil City in Kern County, California, the site is near the highest polluted city in the United States. The project aims to aid in healing people with a tranquil environment that incorporates sustainable and biophilic design."
Student: Aishwarya Naidu Bobbili Course: Master of Architecture Thesis Tutor: Mark Mueckenheim
Unity Pavilion for Northridge Cooperative Housing by Naomi Rojas, Shunyi Yang, Dylan Ingle, Rhonuel Domingcil, Fabio Lemos, Corona Xiaohuan Gao, Malak Bellajdel, Kenta Oye, Jacob Delaney, Harikrishna Patel and Daniel Cervantes
"A design-build project by the B.Lab group, the pavilion fosters cooking, eating and storytelling within a community garden in the Hunters Point neighbourhood of San Francisco.
"Due to a lack of access to healthy, affordable food in the area, the pavilion integrates counters, benches, and a movable kitchen table for cooking demonstrations using produce directly from the garden, while a series of frames offer shade and a vista of the bay.
"The design was derived from several communities and youth workshops together with feedback from garden volunteers, and the pavilion was measured and tested on full-scale prototypes before construction."
Student: Naomi Rojas, Shunyi Yang, Dylan Ingle, Rhonuel Domingcil, Fabio Lemos, Corona Xiaohuan Gao, Malak Bellajdel, Kenta Oye, Jacob Delaney, Harikrishna Patel and Daniel Cervantes Course: B Arch Collaborative Project / Building Lab - b.Lab / ARH 498 Tutor: Sameena Sitabkhan, NOMA and Eoanna Harrison, AIA
Sign-Up Sheet by Daniel Joonhee Lee
"The project investigates the relationship between the sacred and the political, and the role of the autonomous citizen therein. Sign-up sheets are simple yet contractual.
"Where public services are exchanged, they are activating devices bringing citizens together to achieve common goals. Sacred architecture has been a beacon of alternative governance by becoming places of refuge and political action.
"This thesis frames those events as distinct from the economic agenda of neoliberalism. Sign-Up Sheet reimagines the site with an urban sanctuary in San Francisco's Tenderloin where non-profit staffs and community members live and work in a hub of collective activity."
Student: Daniel Joonhee Lee Course: Bachelor of Architecture Thesis Tutor: Philip Ra and Mini Chu
Kid of Parts for the Bayview Commons Apartments by Adam Nuru, Markish Siojo, Dylan Ingle, Fabio Lemos, Xiaohuan Corona Gao
"Through a series of community events at the Bayview Commons Apartments, an affordable housing community in San Francisco, we learned that residents wanted an active, intergenerational, and flexible space that allowed for relaxation, interactive play and community events.
"Our final design incorporates a set of flexible, movable furniture that can be set up in different configurations. Intergenerational play, imagination, and socializing are emphasized through the design of different panels on the modular pieces. The colourful groundscape is coded to give clues for spatial use and provide a vibrant surface that complements the colours of the wall mural."
Student: Adam Nuru, Markish Siojo, Dylan Ingle, Fabio Lemos, Xiaohuan Corona Gao Course: B Arch Collaborative Project / Building Lab b.Lab / ARH 498 Tutor: Sameena Sitabkhan, NOMA
Infilling the Void by Kenta Oye
"Urban planning in San Francisco has confined ethnic neighbourhoods to inhuman spaces. My ancestral heritage includes the repeated displacement of the Japanese community to unwanted or forgotten territories.
"The design reveals the lost layers of the site – where the first Japan town took root in 1900 – by activating the alleys, offering a cultural centre that borrows from museum and immigration centre programmes.
"The act of making was the catharsis that enabled this community to cope creatively. Ceramic, wood, and sewing galleries are paired with adjacent workshops, providing spaces to congregate, exchange ideas and share experiences through craft."
Student: Kenta Oye Course: Bachelor of Architecture Thesis Tutor: Philip Ra and Mini Chu
Urban Living Room by Zoe Qiaoyu Zheng
"The project brings neighbourhood life into public space while blurring boundaries and creating conditions of privacy. Public programmes and varied open spaces blend traditional library and private spaces with adjacent buildings.
"The design responds to natural light, wind, and views but also create opportunities to block visual contact with adjacent residences. People are welcome to celebrate their time here, and the architecture makes invisible boundaries to protect their personal space as needed.
"This is not just a library or another place to hang out; the proposal also provides opportunities for people to safely interact in acceptable proximities."
Student: Zoe Qiaoyu Zheng Course: Bachelor of Architecture Thesis Tutor: Philip Ra and Mini Chu

Rivalry //Shawn Mendes Series
Summary: You are a demigod that’s been brought to Camp-Half Blood in hopes to find yourself and learn more about your powers. In fear of being bullied, much like before, you intend to stay behind closed doors until there in no choice but to come out about who’s child you truly belong to.
Ship: Shawn Mendes x Fem!Reader
Warnings: angst, fighting, swearing, fluff, blood, etc.
Notes: none of these gifs are mine. i saw another fic about demigods and i wanted to try and make it a series. the thoughts been festering in my mind forever now. i hope you like it. (also, none of the demigods and gods are really related. because of the parents fucking around, it’s not legitimate in this series. I ALSO RECOMMEND YOU TO LISTEN TO THE PERCY JACKSON SOUNDTRACK WHILE READING THIS. IT’S SO COOL)
Your P.O.V
Camp-Half Blood. There is was, staring back at me like some haunting horror movie scene. The outer perimeter only being lit by two burning fires alone gave me a strange mix of home despite the ominous setting. I belong here. I tell myself the same thought that I’ve been repeating the whole drive here. I belong here. This is the golden arches for the odd and weird kids, a place to feel accepted. A place where it’s okay to be different. Or, at least that’s what I was told. But I knew if there were teens here, people my age, there would still be judgement. There always is. And the trip here was nothing but ridiculous. This place seems to fall off the edge of the earth and right under the nose of humans. And yet, I feel a pull towards the location. I know in my heart that I belong.
Despite the nerves that start to fester, I take a deep breath and walk forward. It’s dark and quiet but the second I pass through the veil, I feel a sense of comfort or warmth wash over me. You are safe here. It seems to say to me. Lugging my one suit case farther in, I find myself following the main pathway. That is until my eyes come across a centaur. He’s fucking huge, twice if not three times my height. "Mr. Brunner, I presume.” I say seriously. Everything about me screams business, not pleasure. But he ignores it and gallops up to shake my hand in mutual respect. “Please, call me, Chiron. You’ll be seeing me quite often. Might as well get on a first name basis.” I give him a hardy shake and follow him along the dark pathway, my heart beating with excitement and nerves.
“Welcome to Camp Half Blood, (Y/n). I realize, as you’ve said before, that you do not want to disclose your parentage to anyone, but here in Camp Half Blood, we categories and home you according to your abilities. That is, until I realized who you belonged to-” He pauses, wary of his next words. “-We don’t get many rare demigods here, so in the interest of your discretion, and for you, and the safety of others, we will not disclose that information until it becomes absolutely necessary.” The second the words leave his mouth, I feel a weight being lifted off me. If anyone knew who I belonged to.. Gods, what a nightmare that would be. Mr. D continues to educate me on what exactly I would be doing here and the longer he spoke, the more excited I became.
“Tomorrow (Y/n), I will personally show you around the facility, but for now I will take you to your living quarters, which are located not too far from the other kids but a good distance for privacy.” I want to look up at him and thank him but I’m so in awe by everything, I can barely form words. Instead I give him a small nod and unpack, mentally preparing for the next day to arrive. My house, since I’m the only one living in it, is a lot lighter than I thought it would be. It’s an odd mix of colors but nothing like I had anticipated. In one room it is black with shades of bright purple. In the other, it’s a vibrant orange/yellow with blue and green flowers the cover the ceiling which brought an odd contrast. It’s surprisingly warm and cosy despite my first wary impression. Everything about the room alone is far much nicer than I’d ever had. I can’t help but lean against my bed headboard and smile. I was home.
The next morning I’m up bright and early, too excited to even hide it. I’m practically bouncing off the walls as I slip my shoes on. But the second Chiron shows up, I suppress it a little bit. I don’t wanna come off too strong, after-all. I’m not even outside before the sun is happily shinning down on us. The trees all gleam in delight under such warm and bright weather. I can’t help but smile at the sight. Birds fluttered above my head, singing their normal song. The trees around us sway against the wind and tower over my head like mountains. The longer we walk, the closer we come to the middle of the camp grounds. Kids of all ages and colors run by us in a hustle and bustle, not without giving me a once over, if not stare at me as if I had horns or something.
For some reason, I’m something entirely new to them. It’s as if they know. Instead I stand up straighter, demanding respect and even scowl at some who dare to give me pointed looks. And instead of making the situation worse, I focus on Chiron’s words. “You will be training like the rest of the students. But before you get to that, you have a schedule with certain classes to obviously learn about your parents and the other gods here.” As we walk by, a boy with bright eyes and dirty blonde hair eyes me up and down like a piece of meat. He nudges his lacks and they look in my direction and have the audacity to howl at me. Instead of causing a scene, I clench my fists in frustration. Deep breaths. In and out.
Finally pulling my gaze away from them, I can’t help but stand up straighter, as if I was trying to prove something to them. I can tell behind their cocky stares that their curious about me and what I can do. Who do I belong to and what I have to offer. But I hope they never find out. But all I know is that I do, in fact, belong. But if I wanted to show that, I would have to be on the field and in the classroom. My first class is Gods & Goddess and their powers. Before I even came to Camp Half Blood, I had always been fascinated by Greek mythology.
I use to spend hours after school reading up on all sorts of stories only to find out I was the child of one them. Chiron escorts me to the class, if that’s not awkward enough. But when I enter, more than fifty kids look directly at me. I can practically feel their judgment filled expressions pressing down on me like an anvil. I suck in a breath of air, letting Chiron speak for me. “Professor Ryan, this is your new student, (Y/n) (Y/L/N).” I give him a hardly shake and give him my signature smile. I swear I hear a group of girls in the front sigh and swoon. Aphrodite kids, I’m sure.
“It’s nice to meet you, Miss (Y/L/N). You can sit right next Mr. Underwood.” I glance up at the large college build lecture hall before my gaze falls on the satyr I saw early. He looks nice, giving me a warm and playful smile. I can’t help but return it because in all honesty, it’s quite contagious. When I take a seat, I pull out my hand for him to take. “(Y/n). Nice to meet you.” He grins and takes it before shaking it lightly. “Grover. Grover Underwood. Likewise!” It’s not as bad as I thought it would be. Grover whispers comments at me the entire time, practically shit talking the professor. It takes everything in me to not burst out laughing. Once class is over though, we walk out together and the conversation flows comfortably.
“Hey (Y/n), I wanna introduce you to my best friend, Percy Jackson.” A boy with ocean blue eyes waltz up to us, showing me an equally warm smile. I take his hand and give him a hardy shake. “Nice to meet you, Percy. Cool name. I’m (Y/n), (Y/n) (Y/L/N).” Percy is just as nice as Grover and they make me feel at home. He’s son of Poseidon apparently. Which took me by surprise. “You’ll meet the rest of the gang later. Until now, you’ll have to settle for us.” Percy says jokingly but I can already sense a slight insecurity. “I like your guys’ company just fine.” But the second the words leave my mouth, I see Percy and Grover ease up. The sight makes me chuckle. It was only the first day and I was already making friends.
Grover has taken it upon himself to show me every nook and cranny of the camp, saying Chiron was an old fart who didn’t know any of their secrets. Pointing over to a warm pink lit dorm, he gave me a cheeky smile. “Aphrodite’s daughters. Hello ladies!” He gives them a wave and some of them giggle in response. I’d be lying if I said none of them were attractive. The art of beauty and seduction was always something they perfected apparently. Some even wink at me as we walk by. I can’t help but blush as we shuffle across the way. “Aphrodite’s daughters are nothing but wild, especially in the sheets. Stay away from them. Or don’t. I mean, I don’t stay away, haha. Not far from them is Athena, girls and boys are separated but that doesn’t stop us much. You’ll meet Annabeth later. She’s a child of Athena.”
We make our way over to the dueling field and the girl he was talking about, whom I believe is Annabeth, is dueling with three other opponents. I watch in awe as she beats them with ease, not a bead of sweat to cover her gorgeous features. I can’t help but gape as she strides over to us, looking nothing but powerful. “That was amazing.” I spew out before my mind could even think. Before she seemed more cold and wary, but the longer she eyes me, the more at ease she becomes. “Thank you. I’m Annabeth.” I take her hand, still gaping. “I’m (Y/n). That was incredible. Can you teach me how to do that?” She laughs at my genuine awe. “Of course, in due time. We have to meet up with the others.”
“The others?” I can’t help but ask in curiosity. They all smile as Grover spoke. “Luke and Shawn. Luke tags along with us occasionally but he mainly sticks to the more jock type crowd, ya know? He’s more brutes than he is brains. But don’t tell him I said that. Besides, he only sticks around with us because he fancies Percy.” Percy shakes his head, chuckling lightly as we walk down a different pathway. “He’s my friend. They’re both really great. You’re gonna love Shawn. He’s super chill but can be a bit cocky at times. He’s also got a killer voice. Shawn might seem a bit off but he’s pretty down to earth-” Annabeth practically snorts. “And he’s not a dick like Luke.” I can’t help but laugh at the comments being made towards the young boy. “Is Luke the one with dirty blonde hair? I may have seen him this morning howling at me. What a douche.” They snort at my comment before nodding.
We head over to the weapons hall and as we enter, I can’t help but gape in awe. Weapons from all shapes and sizes layer each side of the walls, some even attached to the ceiling. Running my hand over some, I can’t help but smirk at the glint of light they all give off. “Beautiful, ain’t she? You’ll start combat soon but before you get your hands dirty, you’re gonna need a weapon, eh?” Grover says to me, motioning for everyone to follow him. We do so and listen to the folk lore behind all of the swords and knives without homes. That was until a bright black shine caught my gaze. Without realizing it, I drifted away from the group to get a better look at it. Black as night, the sword stretches a good few feet with a dark red leather handle and small, thin white swirls etched across the blade.
I feel a pull towards the blade, like it was meant for me. I’m so enthralled by it’s treacherous beauty I almost don’t hear the manager comment, “Gorgeous, isn’t she. Five carbon steel, practically unbreakable, with a dark red handle that’s both comfortable yet firm enough to grip.” I graze the outside of the handle and smile at the sensation. That was until the manager commented, “I wouldn’t try to pick it up. It’s the heaviest weapon we’ve got and you look pretty nimble.” I could stand men trying to down grade women. Instead of listening to his warning, I take the sword with one hand and lift, expecting it to be heavy for my too “nimble body” but instead it practically floats under my touch. I twirl it around and it feels like I’m holding air. “Are you sure it’s the heaviest? It feels light to me.”
The look on his face is nothing but priceless. Jaw dropped to the floor, face white he manages to scrape the last bit of testosterone he had and heads to the front. I take the sword with a smile, intending to check out before I came to an abrupt halt. The blonde douche I saw early, Luke, I believe, was speaking to another boy in a hushed manor behind a stack of knives. He had chocolate brown hair and equally as appealing eyes. “I don’t know Luke.. We don’t know anything about her-” He said softly, scanning over the weapons. Luke replied hastily. “She could be a great ally when we have the battle Friday.” The chocolate haired hunk scoffed. “We don’t even know if she can fight yet! Nor do we know of her abilities! What could she possibly offer for the win?!” Luke rolled his eyes and nudged the boys arm jokingly but he didn’t seem to enjoy it. “Don’t worry. With my suave persona, she’ll be confessing everything in no time. We’ll win this fight Friday, Shawn.”
Were they talking about me? They must be. Quickly and quietly, I slip away from them without making a peep and head to the check-out line. “Looks like you found one!” Percy exclaimed happily, eyeing my weapon of choice. Annabeth nods her head with pride. “That’s a beautiful sword. You’re sure about it though? Once you choose a weapon, it becomes like your mate.” Percy and Grover share a confused glance before shrugging at me. I look down at it with my own sense of pride, happy with my choice before nodding. “Yeah, I’m sure.” Percy’s eyes wander to someone over my shoulder. “SHAWN! LUKE!” He exclaims, smiling at the two. I don’t make eye contact with them yet. Instead I hand over my sword to pay.
The cashier nearly drops the sword, half dragging it across the floor to scan the price-tag along with the belt attachment. “Do you need help?” I ask, trying not to smile at his struggling state. He puffs and curses under his breath, arms bulging in hopes to lift the weapon I’ve handed to him. “Nope, ugh, I- I’m f-fine-” The interaction has unfortunately caught the groups attention and Grover can’t help but ask, “(Y/n), did you get the biggest one?!” I glance over at him and nod. “Yeah, what can I say, I like big things.” The sentence was meant to be a casual response but all four of the boys turned bright red with embarrassment while Annabeth burst out laughing at their reactions. As I’m about to look back at the cashier, my gaze meets Shawn’s.
His eyes are bright despite being a chocolate brown. They almost have a flicker of light to them. One I can’t particularly describe. He’s different, I can feel it. I give him a small smile which he returns with a mediocre smirk. “Hun, why don’t I take that before you pull a muscle-” I wrap the holder around my waist and tie it before taking the sword from him. He sighs, almost happy to not have to carry its gargantuan weight any longer. But before I can slip my beautiful weapon into its case, Luke saunters up to me with a cocky grin. “You must be the beautiful, (Y/n). I’m Luke. Would you like me to carry that for you?” Annabeth and I exchange a knowing look. What did this boy expect from me? To just drop my panties cause he decided to be nice? Pff.
I give him the fakest, most innocent smile I could before sighing sweetly. “Oh my gosh, that is so sweet. Thank you.” I take a step back and toss the blade at him. He lefts out an “Oof!” before falling to the ground, coughing and grunting as he attempts to hold the weight up. I walk around his immobile body and stick my hand out for Shawn to shake. “I’m (Y/n). Nice to meet you.” The moment he takes it, I feel a shock run through my body, itching up and down my spine before it dissipates. What the hell was that? “I’m Shawn. Likewise.” When he lets go of my hand, his is warmer than when we first touched. I wonder if I rubbed off on him? He glances down at me with wonder and curiosity. We duel with our eyes, examining one another before looking away.
I strut over to Luke who is still thrashing on the floor before I lift my sword off him with one hand. He sighs in relief, taking massive breaths of fresh air to accommodate for the ones that have been taken from him. Sheathing my blade, I look back at Annabeth with an innocent smile. “Annabeth, hun. Would you like to go practice dueling?” She laces her arm through mine, waving at the boys as we walk out. “I think we’re gonna be very good friends.” I can’t help but laugh with delight at her statement, feeling the boys eyes follow us the whole way out. I can’t help but look back at Shawn and ponder. Who does he belong to?
Annabeth and I head out to the battle arena to change and practice fighting. “So-” I say while adjusting my gear. “-who are Luke and Shawn’s parents.” Annabeth tosses me another accessory for combat before replying. “Well, Luke is Hermes kid. You wouldn’t have guessed it but he, like most kids, hate their parents. He despises his dad, which is understandable. And for some odd reason, he gets super defensive and competitive when it comes to battles. Thinks he has to prove something to someone because he thinks his parent isn’t the strongest. It’s all about titles to him.”
I nod along to her words but ask about the other boy, not caring much about the first. “And Shawn? What about him?” She talks while she ties her boots. “Well I think Luke just hangs out with Shawn because of his parental title-” I sheath my sword, standing up straighter. “What do you mean? Who is his parent?” When she looked back at me, I expect her to tell me the name of a small god but instead it’s someone who rattles me. “He’s the son of Zeus.” I drop my shoe in shock, nearly dropping the rest of my stuff. Annabeth laughs. “Yeah. He usually has that affect on women.” I scoff, shaking my head before resting my hands on my hips. “Pff. No! I was just surprised. Um, that’s pretty rare, isn’t it?”
She nodded, grabbing her sword before following me out onto the battlefield. “Yeah, it is. Percy and him are the only two sons of the big three. There hasn’t been a third son but I’m hoping it’s a girl. I think Luke is using Shawn and Percy’s friendship to get ahead during the trials and fights. It’s vile.” I nod along to her voice. She was definitely Athena’s kid, brilliant and tactical. “Okay so, what are you gonna teach me so that I’ll be prepared. I want to be as good as you.” Annabeth took a few steps back, stretching her muscles. “That might take some time.” I drew my sword and grinned up at her. “I’m a good learning.” Before I knew it, she ran towards me and our swords crashed together. “Let’s get started.”
Annabeth is a brutal teacher but she’s nothing like Ares teachers. They’re ruthless and cruel, just like their god father. I half expect them to have sharp teeth. We practice for nearly two days straight I almost don’t notice it’s been that long. With only fruits, vegetables and water to keep us going, we keep fighting. It’s nothing but exhilarating. We’re dueling and running circles around one another so much I barely acknowledge the ever growing crowd that’s decided to make their way towards us, intrigued by our fight and what we have to offer, what I have to offer. I barrel towards her, dodging whatever attacks she intends to throw my way before slamming my sword down on her. When they clash, sparks fly. Our faces a mere few inches apart as we growl at one another before separating again.
“How long have they been going at it?” I hear Percy ask Grover. To which he responded with. “Two days straight. A few breaks here and there but I’ve never seen someone hold a fight with Annabeth and not fall over. It’s incredible.” Luke and Shawn stand near the other two boys, watching us closely. I almost feel bad for Shawn but I’m then reminded that I don’t really know him. “Getting tired yet?” Annabeth asks me with a shit-eating grin. I stand up straighter with an equally as warming smile before getting into my fighting position. “Not even close.” The sounds of our swords clashing together echoed all throughout the camp. There wasn’t one person who knew we were fighting. She slams her sword down and instead of hitting me, smashes the grass.
I turn over my shoulder to dodge her attack before making one of my own. When I reach my sword out, hers matches my movements. The tips threatening to cut the others throat. “You’re a fast learner.” She says, smiling up at me. We mutually sheath our weapons and examine the others sweaty state. “Gods, I need a shower.” I say, wiping off the sweat that dripped down all parts of my body. “I think the boys disagree.” Turning over my shoulder to see what she meant, Luke stares at me like I’m a prize, like I’m meat to be won over. Grover and Percy look at me as friends do, with pride. But I can’t quite pin Shawn’s facial expression. His is a mixture of things. Some I can’t read, others I can. It’s pride for a friend but with a hint of attraction, lust. “I think you’ve caught the golden boys eye.”
I eye him up and down and watch as he does the same for me. I can’t help but take Annabeth’s previous words into consideration. If this battle is as important to Luke as she says it is, than how important is Shawn to him. What does he have to offer? What are his powers? Do they have limits? What if Shawn isn’t as innocent as people believe him to be? What if he’s just as wrapped up about the hierarchy as Luke is? Annabeth and I head over to the showers, very much in need of some soap. But the whole time I can’t help but ponder that all of this seems to dive deeper than I think.
(I hope you guys liked it! This is just the introduction to the series. I think I’m gonna make it a 2-3 parter series. Comment below! I love suggestions and feedback!)

The World Heritage Site of Sanchi
Dating from the third century BC to the second century AD, the stupas at Sanchi represent a high water mark in Buddhist craftsmanship and figure. Only 46 kms from Bhopal, Sanchi is prestigious for its landmarks speaking to different Buddhist design styles, the stupas, the chaitya sanctuary, and the religious communities.
The city's history can be followed back to as ahead of schedule as the third century when Buddhism was at its pinnacle and Emperor Ashoka, who had grasped Buddhism, was at the apex of his capacity and wonder. The time of third century BC - twelfth century AD, which saw Buddhism thriving under the support of Emperor Ashok, was set apart by the development of sublime rustic landmarks that say a lot of both the fine craftsmanship of the time and the vision and foresightedness of the ruler. Without a doubt the most exceptional of these are the incredibly famous' stupas of Sanchi assigned as the World Heritage Site for their archeological and authentic significance. Of these, the most popular and notable is Stupa-1, initially worked by ruler Ashoka. In India, this stupa is known to be the most established stone figure, estimating 36.5 m in distance across and 16.4 in tallness with a huge hemispherical arch. Around the stupa is a cleared parade way which has been navigated by pioneers throughout the hundreds of years.
Near the Stupa is a chunar sandstone column piece with the notorious Mauryan clean and bearing the acclaimed decree of Ashoka, notice the event of any break in the Buddhist people group. Encompassing the extraordinary stupas are the four doors acclaimed as works of art of early Buddhist craftsmanship. Worked in the first century BC they bear carvings delineating legends and stories depicting the different periods of the Buddha's life, through images, for example, the Lotus, (speaking to his introduction to the world), the Tree (edification), and the Wheel got from the title of his first lesson and the Footprints, just as those representing his physical nearness. The impeccable carvings joined with the encompassing figures together present a fitting parity to the enormous robustness of the stupa that they circle. The passages
Include: a) the eastern passage portraying the seven manifestations of the Buddha, b) the northern door limited by a wheel of law which delineates the supernatural occurrences related with what Buddha had referenced in the Jatakas and the southern entryway speaking to the introduction of Gautama which is reproduced in a progression of fragile carvings.
The subsequent stupa remains at the very edge of the slope, and its qualification is the stone balustrade that shapes a ring around the stupa. The third stupa is found near the Great (Stupa 1). Looking like a hemispherical arch this stupa is delegated with an umbrella of cleaned stones, which is characteristic of its strict noteworthiness. The stupa's deepest chamber contains the relics of the Buddha's Earliest educates unesco world heritage site in india 2020.
Standing near the Southern Gateway of the Great Stupa is the renowned column known for its exceptionally tasteful plan and noteworthy organized parity.
Aside from the Stupas that remain as persuasive images of the Buddhist engineering at its best, there are different spots of strict essentialness, for example, the Buddhist Vihara, the Great Bowl, the Gupta sanctuary and the archeological historical center. The 'Buddhist Vihara are the hallowed relics of the stupa find d a short good ways from Sanchi. They have been revered in a glass gasket on a stage introduced in the inward sanctum of this modem religious community. The Great Bowl - as the name infers - is a mammoth bowl cut out of a stone coalition which contained food that was circulated among the priests dwelling in the city. The Gupta sanctuary (presently in ruins) having a place with the third century AD, gives one of the most punctual known instances of sanctuary engineering of this period.

Joseph Moss
Standing out distinctly as one of the central figures in the industrial and financial history of Greene county, is the name of Joseph Moss, of Linton. Prominent in local affairs of a business nature and equally so in matters of public interest, with a reputation for distinguished service second to none of his contemporaries, there is today no man in the city of his residence more honored, and all who come within the sphere of his influence unite in rendering due tribute to his sterling worth as a neighbor, business man and citizen. The Moss family has been identified with southern Indiana since the pioneer period, the name being closely interwoven with the settlement, growth and subsequent development of Washington and Greene counties. Aquilla Moss, the subject's grandfather, a Kentuckian by birth, settled in the former county prior to the twenties, and about 1825 moved to a tract of land three miles northeast of Linton where he cleared and improved a good farm on which he spent the remainder of his life. His wife Sarah Harrah, also a native of Kentucky, now lies by his side in an old family burying ground on the homestead which he carved from the wilderness, and the name of both are honored in the community they helped to establish more than eighty-three years ago. Among the children of the worthy couple was a son by the name of William G. Moss, who was born in November, 1823, in Washington county, Indiana, and who married Jennette Rector in 1841, whose birth occurred in 1823, in the county of Lawrence. William G. Moss was reared to manhood on the original homestead in Stockton township, and in due season became a successful farmer and representative citizen, beginning with forty acres and increasing the same to the home place of one hundred and sixty acres, later acquiring four hundred acres in the same locality, this making him one of the largest real estate holders in the township of his residence. He continued to live on this place until 1854, when he removed his family to Linton, and two years later he was elected sheriff of Greene county, filling the office by re-election four years, during which time he made his home in Bloomfield. In i860 he was further honored by being elected to represent Greene county, in the lower house of the general assembly, in which he served one term and in November of the same year he returned to his farm where he spent the remainder of his days, dying on January 30, 1899, his wife following him to the silent land August 7th, of the year 1901. William G. and Jennette Moss were the parents of ten children, seven of whom are living, namely: Joseph, whose name introduces this sketch; Mrs. Sarah M. Turner, Stephen, Bamet S., Rebecca, wife of Alexander Beasley; Mary E. who married Joshua D. Neal, and Julia R., now Mrs. George E. Humphreys; the other three dying at ages ranging from three to six years. Joseph Moss, whose birth occurred on the 21st day of September, 1843, spent his early life on the homestead in Stockton township and received his preliminary education in such indifferent schools as the country in those days afforded. Later he attended for two years the schools of Linton and four years in Bloomfield, after which he took charge of a country school, earning fifty-nine dollars for sixty days service as a teacher. After teaching three terms he engaged in merchandising in Linton and continued that line of business from 1864 to 1869, handling a general store and hauling his goods by ox team from Carlisle, a distance of fifteen miles. Disposing of his mercantile establishment in the latter year he moved to his farm and devoted his attention to agriculture until 1883, when he sold out and returned to Linton, where he has since resided, and with the recent business and industrial interests of which city he has been actively identified. Mr. Moss in 1893 assisted in establishing the Linton Bank, which was operated as a private concern until 1906, when it was reorganized as a state bank, the originators of the enterprise in addition to himself being O. W. Shryer, D. L. Terhune and J. H. Humphreys. In June. 1905, Mr. Moss purchased the several interests of his partners and doubling the capital stock, reorganized the institution as stated above, but subsequently sold part of the stock to Messrs. Humphreys and Terhune, but retained the presidency, which position he has filled from the original organization to the present time. Under his able management, assisted by the fifteen safe and conservative men constituting the stockholders, this bank is doing a very successful business and is now one of the most extensively patronized and popular institutions of the kind in the southwestern part of the state. Mr. Moss was one of the organizers of the Citizens State Bank at Bloomfield, which began business in 1903 with a capital of thirty thousand dollars, and also took a leading part in the establishing, in 1905, of the Dugger State Bank, which has a capital of twenty-five thousand dollars, and of which he is president and director. In addition to the above well known financial institutions, he was an influential factor in organizing, in 1906, the. Linton Trust Company, and he holds the office of president of the Commercial State Bank of Worthington, organized in October, 1906, besides being one of the four incorporators of the New Linton Hotel, representing a capital of thirty-five thousand; he assisted in organizing the Linton Water Company, with a capital of one hundred thousand dollars, is president and director of the Linton Mill Company which is capitalized at twenty-four thousand dollars, and he holds a large block of stock in the Linton Rolling- Mill, of which he is also treasurer, this enterprise representing investments to the amount of seventy-five thousand dollars, and he also is a stockholder and director in the Linton Ice Plant with forty thousand dollars capital. He is interested quite largely in real estate, owning in addition to a fine farm of one hundred and sixty acres, and a half interest in one thousand acres of farm lands in various parts of Greene county, to say nothing of private holdings amounting to many thousand dollars of capital. Financially he ranks not only among the solid men of the city and county but in business circles throughout Indiana and other states his name has long been highly rated, and in various lines of enterprise, with which his name is connected, he enjoys a standing second to that of no other man similarly interested. In his political affiliation Mr. Moss is staunchly Democratic and as a local politician his opinions have always commanded respect and carried weight. As early as 1865 he was elected trustee of Stockton, township, and after filling the office by successive re-elections for a period of six years, he served the people of Wright township four terms in the same capacity. In November, 1900, he was elected treasurer of Greene county and took charge of the office January 1, 1902, and in November following was chosen his own successor, discharging the duties of the position two full terms and acquitting himself as a faithful and efficient public servant whose record was above the breath of suspicion, and whose interest in behalf of one of the people's most important trusts gained him hundreds of warm personal friends, irrespective of political ties. On March 24, 1867, occurred the marriage of Mr. Moss and Sallie Humphreys, of Greene county, Indiana, daughter of Honorable Andrew and Eliza (Johnson) Humphreys, natives of Tennessee and Ohio, respectively. The parents of Mrs. Moss were married in the county of Putnam in 1840, moved in 1842 to Greene county, where Mr. Humphreys became a prominent figure in public and political affairs, and for many years was one of the Democratic leaders in this section of the state. He represented the county in both branches of the legislature, was Indian agent to Utah during the administration of President Buchanan, and in 1876 was elected to Congress of the United States in which he served one term and made a very creditable record as a law-maker. He was a farmer the greater part of his life and a man of fine mind and will always be remembered as one of the county's most distinguished citizens; he died June 24, 1904, his wife preceding him to the grave on February 4th of the year 1883. Mr. and Mrs. Humphreys had a family of six children whose names are as follows: Mrs. Emmeline Poe; Levi, deceased; Albert G. died in 1880, aged thirty years; Mrs. Sallie A. Moss, born January 3, 1850; James Henry, and Andrew, who departed this life in 1875, at the age of seventeen. Mr. and Mrs. Moss have never been blessed with children of their own, but they are popular with young people and their pleasant home is a favorite resort of the youth of the city, who find therein a generous hospitality which the kind host and hostess most graciously dispense. Mrs. Moss is an active member of the Christian church, a wide reader of religious literature and a careful student of many subjects. She also keeps abreast of the times in general literature, being a member of the Twentieth Century Club, of Bloomfield, the Mount Mellick Social Club and Eastern Star, the Christian Aid Society, and is popular in the best society circles of the city in which she resides. Mr. Moss subscribes to the Baptist faith and holds membership in the church which worships in Linton. He has been a Mason since 1865, has risen to high standing in the brotherhood, including the Royal Arch Degrees and the Order of the Eastern Star; he also belongs to the Benevolent Protective Order of Elks. Mr. Moss was nominated on May 16, 1808, for the legislature by the Democratic ticket. Mr. Moss contributed the ground, sixty-six by one hundred and twenty-six feet, on the northeast corner of Vincennes and First streets, for the Carnegie Library building. Mrs. Moss is vice-president of the building committee.

I am so obsessed with The Getaway and can't wait to see Jamie's reaction!!!! Thank you for this beautiful story!!!
Oh my gosh The Getaway!!!! What happens when she tells Jamie?????? Brian will NOT be happy with his son….
Claire stood nervously at the door, her fingers tapping out a quiet rhythm against the white plastic as she awaited the familiar hum of her father’s car.
“You’ll wear a hole in the floor if ye keep that up, Claire.” Jamie whispered, causing Claire to notice the uneasy shuffling of her feet against the thick carpet that lined the halls of Lallybroch.
A swift breeze blew the moment an eerie sound of tyre hitting gravel echoed under the main arch that led to the front drive and Claire shuddered.
“Do you think they’ll be really mad?” Wrapping her cardigan around her shoulders, Claire stood rigid in the entranceway, not daring to close the small gap Jamie had left between them. She wanted to lean against him and draw support from the warmth of his body close to hers, but the fear that her parents anger might be further ignited if they immediate saw any physical intimacy between them kept her from doing it.
Jamie smiled, a cautious little thing that exposed his unease. “I think you’ve watched one too many soaps, Claire.” His hand came up and took hers, wrapping around her cool digits as he tried to offer her some measure of calm.
The pair watched as the sleek black mercedes pulled up beside Brian’s mud splattered Land Rover. Claire slid back a little as she watched her mother jump from the car, her hair more disheveled than she’d ever seen it before.
“Claire Elizabeth Beauchamp!” She cried before launching herself at her daughter, tears gathering in her eyes as she pulled her close.
Jamie stood back as he watched Claire and Julia embrace. Henry kept his distance, a slight smile tugging at the corners of his lips. As he caught Jamie looking his way it dropped a little, as if Jamie himself was a solid reminder of what had occurred between them. It was a glance that said - ‘I know what you did with my daughter’, but in an instant it was gone, replaced with a glint of acceptance at the situation.
Reaching out, her arm letting Claire go for just a moment, Julia took Jamie’s hand from where it rested at his side and pulled him forwards once more.
“You don’t get away that easily, Jamie.” Tugging him into the embrace, she bent to kiss his cheek, “but I could shake you until your teeth rattle, Claire, for leaving that note and not trusting us to get you here! On a bus, for christ sake, halfway across the country…alone!”
Claire let out an almighty sigh and laughed through her tears as she realised she’d never once heard her mother take the lord’s name in vain before.
“I second that,” Henry interjected, his tone soft and low as he finally locked the car and came up and into the house. “To think, you bore this weight all by yourself makes me frustrated at your stubbornness and in awe of your strength all at the same time. You’re as bad as your uncle Lamb.” The chastisement only made Claire laugh harder as the group wandered further into the big house in search of Ellen and Brian.
Knowing the emotional reunion that was about the occur, the Frasers had hidden away, keeping themselves busy firmly inside the large living room with the drinks at the ready. Ellen was certain that Julia and Henry wouldn’t be mad, but she knew Claire needed some space. Nothing she could have said would have convinced the young lass that her parents weren’t going to turn up and tear her apart - limb from limb.
But, as predicted, they had been supportive and relaxed and both Claire and Jamie now seemed far more tranquil.
“So,” Henry began, drink in hand care of Brian as he perched on the edge of the plush sofa, “have you any idea what you want to do about September…both of you?”
The room fell silent for a moment. Claire had thought about it, but she hadn’t discussed it with anybody. Butterflies twisted in her stomach as she swallowed back the trepidation that began to rise in her gut.
Jamie nudged her shoulder gently with his own, seeing the sudden pallor as it took over her usually fresh features. *It’s alright,* he said without words, *you’re alright.*
Licking her dry lips she dropped her eyes to her knees, nodding as the fabric seemed to blur the longer she focused on it. “Yes, I have.”
“It’s your choice, Claire,” Julia and Ellen both piped up, their voices almost perfectly timed with one another.
“Aye,” Brian continued, “yer mam’s are right. Just talk to us, tell us what you’re thinking.”
Henry nodded, swilling the small glass of port, creating miniature waves to cascade against the side of the glass as he waited to see what she would say.
“I think…” stopping for just a moment, Claire gathered herself. She didn’t *think* at all, she knew. Now was no time for half-hearted statements. This was it for her, if she was going to properly bring another human life into this world she needed to be an adult herself and make courageous decisions with conviction. “No,” she rerouted, sounding certain now, “I know that I want to have year out. I want to offset my course, start next September - depending on how I feel. I don’t think it’s plausible or fair to start this year knowing that I’ll have to stop before the first year exams even come around.”
Jamie held back a smile, wrapping his arm around Claire now as she joined her fingers with his free hand.
“…and you, Jamie lad?” Brian coaxed.
“The same,” squeezing Claire’s hand firmly he bent to kiss her forehead.
Hearing his words shocked Claire. She knew he was committed to her and the baby, he didn’t need to prove that by following her. She knew the heavy costs of their new situation and had been completely ready to sacrifice anything she needed to in order to raise their daughter or son. University would wait, she could always go back, her A Level results weren’t going anywhere after all.
“B-but…” she stuttered, her eyes meeting his as her astonished haze began to dissipate, “you don’t need to–”
“O’ course I do, Claire.” His voice was serious, stern even.
The adults that surrounded them maintained silence, all determined to let Jamie and Claire come to the decision that worked best for them by themselves.
“I told ye it was us together, and that means every aspect of it. Why should you sacrifice your education and allow me mine?”
“Well…” There was an argument for it, Claire realised, but it was a patriarchal one and there was no way she was about to eschew her views to voice it. Nor would she demean Jamie by suggesting that he shouldn’t witness those precious first few months with their child.
He was right.
This was something they did properly. Something they did together – or not at all.
Leaning his forehead against hers, Jamie looked straight into her eyes and held her knuckles to his lips as he spoke, clearly and decisively. “Together, aye?”
“Alright, together.”
Ellen breathed out a long sigh and nodded at Brian. Julia and Henry looked on, a little confused but relieved that Jamie and Claire had come to a mature decision.
“Then it’s settled. You’ll both waylay your university start date until a more appropriate time.” Ellen said, standing before walking to the small bureau that sat in the corner of the lounge.
“Will you stay here, do you think?” Henry’s voice was small, the slight hint of regret that he might be so far away from his daughter seeping into every word as he twisted Julia’s wedding ring around his large finger.
“Weel,” Brian perked up, obviously heading towards some sort of offer, “I ken yer job’s keeping you in Oxford, Henry, and if you think they should come wi’ you then we’ll try our best to help out. But we have some ideas, if you’re all amenable?”
“We couldn’t–” Claire began, already contemplating their options. Work, housing, benefits - everything and anything. She hadn’t thought for one moment that relying on anyone else was an option.
“It willna diminish your ability to care for the bairn, Claire, if we offer you some help and you accept, aye?” Ellen came back from the desk, and envelope sitting neatly between her hands as she passed it over to Jamie and Claire. “Whatever you decide to do, wherever you decide to stay…we will always help you both. We’re your parents, we ha’ a duty of care and we willna see ye slogging your guts out when we have the ability to lend assistance.”
“Aye, you can pay us back when we’re all auld and infirm!” Brian joked, slapping Henry on the back as he chuckled to himself. “Grandparents annex it is!”
Taking the envelope and tipping out the contents, Claire and Jamie were surprised to see a key twisted between the leaves of two sheets of paper.
“It’s not ready yet, but the garage out front hasna been used for years. We want to convert it for you, have it decked out wi’ a small nursery and a main bedroom for you both. You can come and use our kitchen should you need anything massive, but we’ll make sure you have a small area to cook and a nice bathroom.”
Claire couldn’t breathe and she shook slightly as Ellen reeled off a rather large list of things she and Brian wanted to do for her - for *them*. Her heart beat out a shallow rhythm in her chest. She felt overwhelmed, unable to take it all in.
“We’ll all help,” Julia agreed, shimmying closer to Claire as quiet descended upon the lounge once more. “Your father and I. And as soon as we’re able we’ll move back up here. Won’t we, Henry dear?”
Henry scratched his head and nodded, his relief palpable. He’d never been good at making decisions, Julia had always had the strength for the both of them. “Gosh, yes. Of course. Claire, I’m so proud of you,” he whispered, lifting his feet slightly as he shifted from foot to foot, “scared,” he laughed almost silently, “ but so very proud.”
“Then it’s settled!” Brian raised his glass and stomped his foot in celebration. “A year to prepare, ha’ the wean and settle ye pair into parenthood. Cheers!”
– — –
Jamie nipped at Claire’s ear, the whisky thrumming in his veins as he snuck her away from the festivities. The Beauchamp’s and the Fraser’s were too busy now, championing their home DIY annex plans with way too much liquor to pay much heed to their children.
As they crept away, Claire looked back on the scene with some awe. Not so many hours ago she’d been in knots over her parents reaction and now it seemed she’d had nothing to worry about. She could still see some marks of stress around her father’s eyes, but those were fading as the night wore on. In the morning, she was certain they’d have vanished totally.
“Do you think it’ll work, us both having a year out to raise her – or him?” Claire asked with some trepidation. Patriarchal or not, she still wanted Jamie to have the chance to continue on with his studies. Some societal norms were harder to stamp out than others, it seemed.
Tipping his head, his face alight with a look of amused consternation, Jamie tapped her nose playfully as he slipped his pinkie finger along her exposed collarbone. “I think it’ll be perfect, sassenach.” Tracing her pearlescent skin, he toyed with the small pendant she wore around her neck - some ancient tribal symbol her uncle had sent back from Egypt most like.
“Just,” he placed one kiss on her shoulder, “like,” …and another under her chin, “our,” …and another just at the corner of her lips, “bairn.”
Moaning gently, Claire slipped her tongue from her mouth, tasting the pungent whisky on his lips as they came together slowly. Her body ached, heated tingles slithering over her flesh as their mouths moved fluidly together for what felt like hours.
“Perfect,” she echoed, her hands edging beneath the elastic material of his jeans until she was able to cup his arse and pull him flush against her.
“Perfect,” Jamie parroted, his voice barely audible as he gasped, laying Claire flat against his clean sheets allowing his body to do the rest of the reassuring.

Welcome to the Wardens, Bec! Your application for THE ELEMENTALIST has been accepted with a Charlize Theron FC.
This skeleton bio was one of my favourites and you absolutely did this character justice! I adore how you made her Dawnish and really researched into the cultural norms of Dawnish society because they are all such an intelligent but crafty people. It really fits with Lisselá’s personality which is just perfect for an arrogant and power-hungry Mage! It’ll be so interesting to see how Lisselá uses her experience with the Game of Houses to manipulate any situation in her favour and how she excels in her adventures with the Wardens. The Star Tower will undoubtedly be super eager to claim their prodigy back but you really made her reason about leaving believable with those tensions with her tutors! We’re all really excited to see how this powerful Mage adapts to the Wardens’ challenges!
The application can be found under the cut. You have 48 hours to create a roleplay account (cannot be a sideblog) for your character and we will be updating our opening date soon!

T H E - B A S I C S
Skeleton Title: THE ELEMENTALIST
Name: Lisselá De Sauveterre
Gender: Female
Age: 147
Class: Mage
Faceclaim: Charlize Theron
C H A R A C T E R - D E T A I L S
Nationality: Dawnish
Appearance: Lisselá takes great care over her appearance, rising early in the morning to adhere to a strict beauty regime. Her body language conveys a lady of status and grace, taught to never slouch and carefully conceal any tells. Her immaculate appearance and control over her outward emotion gives her an air of aloofness, her piercing grey-green eyes cold and calculating. Her long white-blonde hair is always perfectly styled in the latest fashion trends of the capital and matched with sparkling jewels and accessories paired with an ostentatious wardrobe. She flaunts her family name and associated wealth and prominence, her family crest displayed at every opportunity in her excessive range of jewellery. A lifetime in the Star Tower and born into privilege, she boasts clear skin and silken hair. She has few visible scars to speak of but the most severe she keeps carefully hidden by clothing at all times, unwilling to share the truth of her training.
Considered middle age for a mage, she benefits from their extended longevity and at first glances appears as a woman in her early 40s. There are hints of her true age, lines beginning to appear around her eyes and lips and signs of her hair beginning to thin and whiten further, but no more than to be expected for a mage of her age. However, she dislikes the physical reminder of mortality and obsessively searches for ways to minimise her aging and disguise her ‘weakness’.
Personality:
Ambitious from a young age, she has a shrewd aptitude for politics and the Game of Houses and is well versed in asserting the authority her connections afforded her. Growing up in the Star Tower, she hungered for greater power and devoted herself to honing her magical craft, aspiring to be the most powerful mage in Eldris. Fanatical in her desire, she has little patience for the strict and lengthy training and protocols of the Tower. She yearns to leave the oppressive regime and learn the secrets to unlocking the mysteries of the world with little care for the cost.
When the opportunity arose to leave she snapped it up immediately in the haste to obtain her heart’s desire and the consequences of this decision have begun to make themselves known. The family she has so proudly affiliated with have begun to distance themselves, viewing her position with the wardens as disgrace to their name. Bitter and resentful, she refuses to acknowledge their disapproval and stubbornly insists they will change their minds once she has achieved magical prowess to shake the very foundations of their world.
Whilst not unfriendly to her fellow wardens, she exudes arrogance and her guarded nature does not warm many to her side. She has learnt however that to attain her goal she needs allies and with her family severing their ties she has realised that she must make efforts to build new alliances.
C H A R A C T E R - B A C K G R O U N D
History:
Born to a wealthy family with ties to Clan Morvel in the city of Morn, she spent her childhood enjoying the luxuries and extravagance of a noble family. Educated extensively in etiquette, history and law she boasts an intelligence and cunning expected of a Dawnish lady. She dreamed of rising further and dedicated herself to expanding her scholarly knowledge and she had no qualms about where that knowledge came from, intrigued and seduced by the secrets of the forbidden arts. It came as no great surprise when she awakened her magical powers as a young teen and the move to the Star Tower seemed like her opportunity to unearth her true capabilities and learn more of Eldris’ mysteries.
She was named a prodigy from a young age; a label she wore proudly, making no secret of her aptitude for knowledge and magic. She soon grew tired of the tedious obsession with study and research with little to no practical application and the tension grew between her and her tutors. She had little patience to sit and learn the theory of magic, documented in dusty tomes and recited by every mage of the tower but her tutors insisted it was necessary to truly master the art. The overwhelming raw power burned through her however, begging to be unleashed and harnessed. This fuelled her temper and impatience and created further divide between not only her teachers but also her fellow mages. Her pride and disregard for the rules of the Tower afforded her few friends, seeing those around her as tools to get what she wanted and blaming their dislike on jealousy.
One of the more powerful elder mages who had tutored her from her first days in the Tower was her only confidant. She viewed her as a motherly figure and afforded her great respect for her knowledge and wisdom. Her grasp on the Game of Houses and her kind but firm nature appealed to Lisselá and she shared her deepest and innermost thoughts with her, trusting her council and seeking her approval. With a low tolerance for bullshit, the elder mage had always been most successful at effectively managing Lisselá and encouraging her to behave whilst satisfying her need for practical tutorage by secretly meeting to tutor her.
Reason for joining the Wardens:
As her mentor is reaching her twilight years, Lisselá knows the elder mage will not survive much longer. With growing friction between herself and the other mages, and her mentor unable to defend her (or tutor her) as she had in the past, she knows it is time to move on from the Tower before they find a way to permanently leash her desire for power. When news reaches the Tower that the Wardens have been formed in search of the Netherworld’s secrets, Lisselá knows this is her opportunity to leave the stifling oppression of the Tower and discover the true depth of her power and answer the burning questions that have dominated her existence.
R O L E P L A Y - S A M P L E
Wrapped in the thickest and warmed furs her coin purse could provide at short notice, she is suitably dressed for the unforgiving weather assaulting the mountain pass but still the bitter wind bites against her skin, seeming to seep into her very bones. With little sensation remaining in her extremities and her nose beginning to trickle with unsightly snot, any patience she possessed is long gone. As she is considering turning back and finding the merchant who sold her the furs to wring his neck and destroy any hope of a continuing career, she is startled by dark figures leaping from the mountainside. She feels her weary horse shifting its weight in anticipation before rearing in protest as the figures surround them. She utters a firm order for her horse to hush, gently patting its neck in a soothing motion, without breaking the glare she has fixed upon the figure who had landed directly in front. Her heart beat wildly in her chest and her an icy chill rang through her body, the skin on her arms turning to goose flesh.
“How noble you are sir,” She shouts over the howling winds, sarcasm dripping from every word and the lie coming to her easily, “To prey upon a woman travelling home to her father.”
The man seemed unperturbed by her comment, sneering as he wields a dagger in his hand.
“Give us your gold, wench!” He says with a snarl, desperation creeping into his tone, “Or we’ll cut you down and take it from you!”
Unable to hold back a nervous laugh, she attempts to steel her nerves and schools her features into an unimpressed sneer. She has no wish to fight these bandits, though she has no doubt she could take them, but she is already delayed on her journey and does not wish to further interrupt her schedule for a few foolhardy low lives.
“Please, do you even know how to use that?” She asks, arching her brow. “You do not wish to start a fight you cannot win. Certainly not against a daughter of Morvel.”
Again, the lie slips from her tongue. Not a complete lie, she is a Morvel in blood (albeit distantly). She knows this is a risky untruth, they may be so desperate they decide to take her for ransom but she trusts that they do not wish to take the risk of angering the most powerful family of the region. It is clear not many have travelled this road and so their supply of merchants and traders is woefully low but she feels little sympathy for anyone choosing a life of petty crime.
“Yeah right!” Another of the bandits says in protest, “As if they’d let someone that high o’ rank jus’ wander the pass unprotected!”
Well at least one of them had some form of intelligence, she mused. Letting out an audible sigh and making a show of rolling her eyes, she glanced towards the hooded figure that had spoken.
“Indeed. I am not alone.” She says evenly, looking down her nose at the man with greater threat in her voice.
A few of them started to argue, furiously whispering and nudging each other. Had the wind not been so noisy, she might’ve caught more of what they said but it was obvious they were faltering, unsure how to proceed. It was obvious they didn’t know the pass well and could not be certain she did not have hidden guards poised to attack.
Eventually they looked to the man who had spoken first and she was certain in her judgment that he was the leader of the thugs.
“If you wish to see the morrow I suggest you let me pass,” She says, “I will see that this… misunderstanding is not taken any further.”
He seemed to hesitate again, shifting his weight from foot to foot, before glancing at the faces of his misfit group and slumping his shoulders in defeat. Lisselá feels the tension ease in her body as he comes to his decision, relieved they have accepted her terms and trying not to let the satisfaction show in too much in her face. Fools, she thinks.
“Yeah, yeah… alright,” He says, finally conceding and stepping out of her path.
He lowers his weapon and uses his free hand to signal his group to follow suit, the weary men clambering back up the frozen rocks no doubt to await the next unsuspecting traveller. She imagines they will figure it out soon enough but she plans to be long gone by then and with the weather only worsening she is sure they are not so stupid as to risk pursuing her. Not wishing to wait around to find out, she clicks her tongue and gently kicks her horse forward, continuing on the icy path toward Miwor Town.

Baptiste Yoga: 8 Poses to Activate New Year Intentions
Master Baptiste Yoga exercise instructor Leah Cullis, that will certainly lead Yoga Journal's upcoming online course Columns of Power Yoga (sign up here to be the initial to know when this health and fitness- and focus-boosting training course launches), offers 8 poses to assist you set your concentration for the year ahead.
Instead of establishing New Year's resolutions, I prefer to establish my intent for the coming year. Establishing a purpose is like tossing out your energetic objective or clarifying your emphasis both on and also off the mat. Take off the pressure of making something happen, as well as rather utilize your intention as your Northern Star, gently lighting your path and also directing your method. When you begin to stray, appreciate your higher purpose and incorporate objective into your following step.
Your yoga exercise technique can be a vehicle for realizing your purpose. The poses are containers for power, so when you set an objective at the start of your technique, each posture becomes an opportunity to line up with and give birth to what is most crucial to you. When you instill your intention into each breath, every breath comes to be a chance to purposefully move your life in the direction you want it to go.
The following 8 poses will sustain you in utilizing your energy to sustain your intentions. You can practice them together as one sequence (remember to do both sides) or add these presents individually right into your method to stir up the power of your intentions. I advise beginning with 3-- 5 rounds of Sun Salutation A and Sunlight Salutation B.
Child’s Pose (Balasana)
Child's Posture, which awakens the link between the breath as well as body, is a chance to instill your intent right into every breath. If you ever feel separated from your breath or your objective, pause, take Child's Posture, and re-establish your purpose.
Bring your huge toes to touch at the back of your floor covering and spread out your knees as large as the edges of your floor covering. Drop your hips back to your heels, reach your arms ahead, disperse your fingers, and also support your knuckles into the floor covering. Touch your forehead to the ground, drop the weight of your head, and also permit your shoulders to soften. Keep here for 5 breaths or more.
Warrior II (Virabhadrasana II)
Warrior II produces dynamic expansion with the whole physical body. With concentrated gaze, this position educates you the best ways to refine your power of focus and streamline your power right into a solitary ray.
From Downward-Facing Pet dog, tip one foot onward to the top of the mat and dial your various other heel to the planet. Press the outer edge of your back foot into the floor covering and raise your internal arc, as you stack your front knee at a 90-degree angle. With your inhale, uplift and also open your upper body over your hips and disperse your arms wide. Extend your tailbone toward the ground and also raise your low tummy. Disperse your fingers and set your look over your front center finger. Breathe deeply as you beam your focus to a solitary centerpiece. Feel your physical body brighten with life pressure as you concentrate. Hold for 5-- 10 breaths.
High Lunge, Crescent Variation
Crescent Lunge is a full-body present that trains all the muscular tissues to work as one unit and aids you set your stare forward.
Ground down right into all four corners of your front foot and also pile your back heel over the sphere of your back foot. Attract from skin to muscular tissue and muscle mass to bone. Bend your front knee to 90 degrees as well as straighten your front knee over your ankle. Hug your internal upper legs toward one an additional and also square both aware of the front of the floor covering. Lift your low stomach as well as scissor your internal thighs in toward your centerline. Raise your arms and breast high. Establish your gaze forward at the perspective line, clear up right into your space, as well as take 5-- 10 well balanced breaths.
Crow Pose (Bakasana)
