He's doing all the chores for you, he starts cooking breakfast early and he starts joining you in the morning shower, trying his hardest to replicate his brother's gentlemanly mannerisms.

Riddle's so serious about relationships and expressed to be loyal forever to her partner, unlike the old Floyd who sticks his dick into one girl to another, leaving you to rot in his room tears streaming down your cheeks and tuining your beautiful mascara. He will fix that, no matter what. He gets a job at a close friend's now successful cafe, ditches all of his side chicks and ghosts his delinquent pimp friends, where the only pussy he would stick his dick inside from now on is yours.

OMG YES AAAAAAAA,,,,, your thoughts are so good!!!! Floyd absolutely puts in the work once he's made up his mind to be a better boyfriend. It's like he's an entirely new person. Riddle nearly walks back out the door the day she sees him standing behind the counter. T_T she's certain the world is against her. What sin must she atone for? Is this how hell punishes its sinners now, by sending stupid, annoying, ugly eels to her workplace and conveniently disguising them as coworkers? If it isn't obvious, she is Floyd's biggest hater LOL.

I like to think that Floyd, though he pesters Riddle and annoys the life out of her, would vaguely and briefly confide in her and ask what sorts of things girls like. Riddle puts two and two together and figures out rather fast that he's trying to make it up to you. Obviously she can't let that happen. She just started wedging herself between you and Floyd, making you question your feelings for him, and now he's trying to be better? He had four years to do that! She's so annoyed. >:(

Now you have an obsessed boyfriend and an obsessed friend who wants to take the place of boyfriend vying for your attention. Meanwhile, you're mourning to your bestie Jade about Floyd and his disloyal behavior like, "Why is he so sex-brained? Why doesn't he just like me for me? What's so good about parties and sex with strangers anyway?" and Jade is a persistence predator, so of course he's taking full advantage of your emotional vulnerability and weaknesses to slip in between the cracks in your heart, slowly but surely getting even closer to you. :)

I wasn't sure if this anon meant the Phantom designs or the OB designs themselves when they said "overblot monsters", so I decided to go ahead and drop my opinions on both things. (And if you want my opinion on the non-OB boys and non-OB boys' Phantoms... they're okay? I have no particular commentary to impart on those.)

My personal Phantoms ranking:

My favorite Phantom design is, hands down, Idia’s. I love how it is composed of shapes that closely resemble the style of the Hercules film, notably the arms and fingers. The collar and head resemble a flaring flame while the wrists seem to resemble Greek columns. But the detail I love the most is how the Phantom's arms and body seem to be made of other Phantoms' busted heads. It's really clever visual storytelling, as this tells us about how Ortho lived in Tartarus with the other Phantoms, how he wants them all to be 'friends' with Idia and the rest of the world, etc. This Phantom in of itself just has so much story significance and even seems to be alluded that the multitude of Phantoms in Tartarus yoink Idia (seen at the end of the Ignihyde CM). This Phantom also has a special physical connection to the OB boy in its design; Idia it literally hooked up to his Phantom with wires, symbolizing his close connection to it. (I didn't see something similar in the other Phantoms, but I do know in the light novel Leona is said to be attached to his Phantom by a blot chain on his ankle.)

I find the designs of Riddle, Azul, and Jamil’s Phantoms cool. They resemble their Disney inspirations, but have one or two flairs that make the designs their own. Riddle's Phantom has spade-shaped spikes protruding from its back and wields a rose tree like a hammer to deliver twisted justice. Azul's Phantom has a crown and trident, which is reminiscent of Ursula once she has robbed them from King Triton. It also has a collar that looks like coral branches jutting out and I enjoy how the ink looks like it is dripping down and forming the tentacles. Finally, Jamil's Phantom is inspired by Jafar's genie form on the torso but its lower half becomes coiled, patterned, and snake-like (like the viper form Jafar takes on when fighting Aladdin). It also has a collar unique to it.

I'm slightly disappointed with the Phantoms of Leona, Vil, and Malleus. These literally just look like the original Disney villains that they are trying to emulate, but with very few changes made to them outside of the stitches and the shape of the glass bottle heads. I do like that Vil's Phantom is the hag version of the Evil Queen (which demonstrates her inner ugliness) and how Malleus's phantom is Maleficent's dragon form (which is just cooler overall) with more exaggerated spines, but this doesn't change the fact that the designs aren't that special.

My personal OB design ranking:

I think Leona and Idia’s designs look cool for the most part.

Pretty much the only thing I dislike about Leona’s is the bare feet, which are easily ignored since the game usually only shows us the torso up. Everything else is gucci o3o)bb Slicked back hair, check! corset that calls attention to his Dorito chip shaped-body, check! The jewelry and extra stuff tied around his waist isn't too cluttered or in the way and coordinates well color-wise. Ah, also... AND I KNOW NONW OF YOU PEOPLE WILL BELIEVE ME BUT I FEEL LIKE I AHVE TO STATE THIS FOR MY OWN SANITY. I didn't realize he was shirtless for a long ass time 😭 I JUST THOGUHT THAT MANE WAS A FLUFFY SHIRT OR CROP TOP OR SOMETHING... I know the truth now, and (at the cost of sounding like Rollo) I'm thankful that the mane exists to cover up Leona's bare chest because I do NOT wanna see that out and about.

Idia has the most "different" vibes to his design, and I have to commend him for that. He looks like some futuristic gremlin come to destroy us all, especially when his electronic mask thing simulates new expressions for him. It's neat how the new armor he's equipped with sharpens his features so he, like his Phantom, more closely resembles the art style of Hercules, and there's just enough blue to balance out the black (and same with the orange-red when he gets mad). My favorite part of OB Idia has to be the lower half; it forms a cool vortex that makes me think of the lost souls swirling around in Tartarus.

I like Riddle’s well enough, but I think it’s less of me actually enjoying the look altogether and more of me having nostalgia for it + liking the Alice in Wonderland details in it. I love the ink webbing (especially in the face and its accessories), the gradient flowers decorating his hips, and the cards spilling out. However, I will admit that the design is very busy and chaotic for the head and the lower half (and maybe that was intentional), so it's hard for my eyes to know what to focus on whenever I see OB Riddle.

Azul, Vil, and Malleus are trying but look sort of awkward in several areas:

I like the shoulders and face for Azul, but below that is all downhill; I've never been a fan of his merform, and that really comes through here. The bottom half just looks kinda unadorned (which makes sense; clothing would limit his mobility). Still... it makes most of him look really uninteresting. Not only that, but his tentacles look wrong (though this is an issue with his general merform and not specifically the OB). They're way too short and the shape and size of them makes me think of inflatable mascots outside of used car dealerships.

I appreciate that Vil's OB design gives the vibes of him wandering into an abandoned castle and fastening together an outfit from a tattered curtain, but the end result is... lacking. The halo crown looks super heavy and impractical, the chest looks sort of bland compared to everything else, the waist has these really out of place protruding... spike... things???? And then there's the slapped-on looking peacock feathers on his legs and the odd feathers to blot textured cloak.

I like all the briar incorporated into Malleus’s OB even if the details are drowned out by the excessive black, but I’m not a fan of the neon green on his horns and tail. Malleus’s most focal points—his face and chest—also look kinda weird to me?? Normally I like slicked back hair, but it looks odd and almost balding on this character. The green/green-grey color of his skin is also unflattering and makes him look like a moldy cabbage.

Jamil and Grim (?) are very confused and unappealing.

In all honesty, the individual pieces of the outfit are okay?? I like the gold accessories + how the veil the skirt flares out. The recurring diamond patterns are are an interesting way to incorporate “scales” without having actual snakeskin. The literal snake hair has potential to be cute, but I hate Hate HATE how it’s styled as a turban (poor sentient hair snakes are probably all twisted up) and the little ink goatee 💀 Combined with everything else, he is way too over-designed no matter where you look. At least everyone else has their detailed elements better spread out… I think it might have looked better if it had like 1-2 less detailed elements and eradicate the goatee.

Grim (?) is a random mishmash of traits from the other OB boys. And it looks bad (even if the point is for nothing in the design to go together well). The worst part is the humanish front legs. No further comment.

For the Shrimper Chronicles: what about Azul realizing he’s in love with the shrimpy, and even realizing he probably has loved Jade and Floyd for a long time?

Doesn’t have to be a written thing, but I just think the idea of him having that realization would be cute—

Him realizing he doesn’t want to leave on his visits. Him realizing he misses Jade and Floyd. And he’s such an emotionally constipated dude, he probably tries to choke the idea out of existence. Maybe he gets a bit snippy or tries to bury himself in work and be distant. Though I think the twins would start to notice his change in behavior.

Maybe when he gets more comfortable, giving cute little courtship “test” trinkets to get a feel for it.

I wonder if there’d be a hierarchy to who he gives trinkets to first? Like, when courting an established poly, does he approach the shrimpy or the eels first? I feel like he’d probably spend a lot of time thinking on that.

TLDR: adorably overthinking octopus has a crisis on whether to/how to court a poly of his dear friends lol.

For me personally, I feel that the octopolycule would have had to already started with the twins and Azul during NRC in order for it to work. It feels like a more natural progression of their relationship from “business” associates to friends to lovers, which I can't really see happening when they get older. If you add in the relationship with Shrimpy, I feel like there's even less of a chance of it happening.

It's not impossible, though! I can see the polycule still happening later on if it was a case of the tweels and Azul knowing they liked each other deep down, but seeing Azul's childhood effected his sense of self-worth and ability to really get close to others, nothing ever happens.

When you come into the picture and get closer and closer to the three of them, that same issue happens again. Azul probably feels a bit of an ache in his heart when the three of you get together, but he'd never admit it.

The ache is worse because the three of you seem insistent on making him a cornerstone of your lives, he's at your home more than he is at his own! Forced to be a giant pillow for you three, as Floyd in particular giggles about how soft and squishy he is. Floyd has always been like that, though, even though Azul doesn't want to admit that the nuzzling is new.

Jade, despite his parents' insistence on taking more charge in the family business, still acts his right-hand man, often staying late with Azul at his restaurants. He's always ensuring Azul eats well…extraordinarily well…based on the complicated and filling meals he makes. Azul doesn't want to put more meaning into it, caecilians might court via food, but morays don't…mostly anyways.

You seem particularly insistent on involving him with your little ones' lives, much more than any uncle should be. He doesn't want to mistake the adoring look in your eye as he cradles one of the fries in his arms. The worst part is that he can't bring himself to argue against it when he starts being called 'Baba Zuzu', it's so cute, so sweet, and he just wants to pretend that the kids are his too when you curl into his side with the fries in his arms.

He is just ever so slightly emotionally stunted, and as smart as he is, he also is an Olympic Pro at mental gymnastics. My favorite way of the polycule becoming official is when Azul is laying in bed with all three of them, you in his arms, Floyd practically splayed over him and you on the left side, and Jade tangling his tail with Azul's tentacles as he rests his chin on the top of his head. And let's not forget the kids curled with each other on top of his chest.

It takes a moment, just as Azul is falling into a blissful sleep, cradled against his family, when the 'his' part of that sentence hits. His eyes snap open, as he realizes.

"Wait a second..."

I must admit that I hadn't ever written anything quite like it before, but enjoyed myself while working on your request. I apologize for the wait and I hope you enjoy your fic!

Secrets - Azul

Azul was confused, to put it lightly. He had been for quite some time now. In fact, he had been since his overblot. But his confusion had nothing to do with his experience overblotting. Instead, his confusion had everything to do with you. 

Simply put, you had somehow charmed him, which was the last thing he’d ever expected to occur when he’d first come to this school or when he’d first seen you.

For one thing, you were one of the most ridiculously effeminate young men he’d ever seen, and all of the teachers favored you. And, in all his years of going to school, he’d never been overly fond of teachers’ pets. 

Instead, it had always been his experience that teachers’ pets were competition, and unfair competition at that. Because the teachers would and could play favorites when it came to their beloved favorite student.

But perhaps what was worse was how he couldn’t seem to get close to you.

Oh, it wasn’t that you pushed him away or anything like that. In fact, you were quite kind. Frustratingly and endearingly so. Rather, it was that he couldn’t get close to you because of how staunchly protective of you Deuce and Ace were.

No matter what he tried, the two of them seemed to always be popping up and eyeing him suspiciously before asking you if all was well.

It was a stark contrast to how they’d all but cowered before him when he’d had them under employment by contract.

And what was all the more frustrating was how, time and time again, you chose to rely on them instead of him.

Which was utterly ridiculous. He had more connections, more know-how, was a better magician, and had been the one to help you during the entire mess at the Scarabia dorm.

But, without fail, you’d turn to one of them when something came up. Which told Azul everything he had already known and suspected, even if it hurt. 

You preferred them over him and trusted them in ways you didn’t trust him.

And it stung. Especially after you’d seemed to accept him—tentacles and all—after his overblot and didn’t obviously seem to fear or be wary of him or the tweels. It was just that you didn’t want him.

Not to lean on, not to spend time with, and not to whisper about secrets with that would have one of your chosen friends nodding their head before you stepped out of the classroom while they whispered something to the teacher, who would inevitably accept the excuse because you were, for better or worse, all of the teachers’ pet.

Floyd and Jade had, of course, been amused when they’d first discovered his plight. Smiling smugly down at him before exchanging a shared glance.

“What makes you think that our dear little Prefect is a favorite of the teachers? They have to do just as many chores in regards to keeping the classroom clean as everyone else,” Jade didn’t even try to hide his smug amusement.

Azul felt himself scowl up at his vice-housewarden, immediately annoyed by how obviously mocking the words were, “Because. They get to skip out on P.E. classes when no one else does every month. And it can’t have anything to do with not having magic. It’s just them making use of the fact that Vargas favors them over everyone else.”

Floyd outright smirked at Azul’s annoyance, “Maybe it’s something to do with a health issue. Shrimpy is kind of small after all, and Mackerel is always talking about how he’s worried about them on those days and that he’s gonna check up on them.”

Azul felt himself prickle at the sound of Deuce, immediately ignoring the sting of jealousy as he snapped back, “It’s not a health issue. They are as healthy a young man as anyone else is. They’ve probably just fooled Deuce somehow. Though why he has to check up on them is beyond me, they’re hardly helpless.” 

And evidently enough, he surprised them as both of the twins' eyes went wide at his words and they looked towards each other. Something unspoken passed between them before a perfectly evil grin curled across each of their identical faces.

“Why, Azul, you sound jealous of this ‘young man.’” Jade all but cooed the words as Floyd nodded.

At odds with Jade’s more subtle harassment, Floyd held nothing back, “Or maybe he’s jealous of Mackerel~”

Azul regretted it the moment he twitched because the tweels grinned almost at the exact same time. Latching on to that subtle cue as to his true frustrations the second it reared its head.

“Oh, Azul. Don’t tell me you want to be the one taking care of the Prefect?” Jade was outright chuckling now as Azul glowered up at him from his seat behind his desk.

Floyd snickered, “Of course he does. He’s got a crush on lil ol’ Shrimpy. Don’t cha’?”

Azul’s left eye twitched, his voice coming out low and only barely controlled “I don’t have a ‘crush’ on anyone, Floyd. Much less him.”

Jade’s long fingers tapped against his cheek, “Oh yes, certainly not ‘him.’”

Floyd giggled at his brother’s words as Jade looked knowingly over at his twin. Their actions cause Azul’s eyes to narrow.

It was strange how they kept emphasizing words like ‘him’ and ‘young man.’ Almost like they were dangling something over Azul’s head, just a little too far out of reach but low enough to catch his attention.

“You know, they skipped out on class today as well… Why don’t you go and see them yourself. Maybe you’ll be able to find out whatever secret it is that they have that causes the teachers’ to favor them over others,” Jade’s words had Azul’s eyes widening.

Go visit you…?

It was something that he’d considered in the past but had never actually done so. After all, he wasn’t a glutton for punishment. If you had chosen Ace and Deuce over him, then so be it.

But it was true that he’d never been one to turn down finding out another person’s secret. And if, by some strange occurrence, there was something wrong with you, then it couldn’t hurt to see how you were doing.

And so Azul went, wondering all the while if this was some horrid mistake.

It was obvious that the tweels knew something that he didn’t, though what that might be, he didn’t know.

He could only hope that neither of your friends would be around to get in the way when he got to your dorm.

And luck was on his side, because neither of the Heartslabyul freshmen were visible when he arrived at Ramshackle dorm. Plus, he didn’t have to worry about you not being there since he could clearly see a light on through the window.

Azul squared his shoulders as he stepped up on the rickety porch, resolving to get to the bottom of why you were treated as so special by the teachers.

He knew you were special, but something told me the reasons for his fondness for you had very little to do with the teachers’ behavior.

And if he’d been wrong and you did have some form of health issue… Well, it certainly wouldn’t hurt to offer you some help.

At least then, you might realize that he was just as worthy of our trust and time as your friends. Though he wasn’t exactly aiming for the position of friend, per say….

But at least being a little closer to you might not sting as much as his current position.

He knocked on the door, the rapping of his knuckles on the wood sounding just a little bit too loud to his own ears and making him wonder, for what had to be the thousandth time, if he were making a mistake.

What if you didn’t want to see him? Just because Deuce always came to check on you didn’t mean that Azul would be just as welcome…. If that were the case, coming to visit certainly wasn’t going to endear him to you.

Before he could even think about retreating, the door cracked open, and you peered. Your appearance causing Azul to blink in surprise.

You looked exhausted and were hunched over, a hand pressed to your stomach as you blinked up at him with weary eyes.

“I already told you, Deuce. I’m fine. It’s just the usual monthly-” You cut off sharply as your gaze collided with Azul’s startled one, and your eyes went wide.

“A-Azul!” You all but stammered out his name as you pulled backwards, hiding yourself behind the door in a way that made Azul frown as you cringed. Almost as if moving too quickly had caused some sort of pain.

You were in bad shape. Horrible even, if simply moving agitated whatever state you were in.

He reached, putting his hand on the door and lightly trying to open it so he could better see you, as his tone shifted into something far more concerned, “Angelfish, are you-”

“I’m fine!” Your words came out too fast, and your smile looked almost desperate.

They were actions that Azul recognized all too well from his experiences trying to get information. You were hiding something. Something you desperately didn’t want him to find out.

What was strange, though, was that you weren’t scared.

Despite your determination to keep this secret, whatever it was, in no way were you afraid of Azul or even him finding out whatever it was you were hiding.

You let out a weak laugh, adjusting your grip on the door and keeping Azul from opening it any further, “Really, I’m fine, Azul. Thank you for coming by, but you don’t have to worry. Ace and Deuce already stopped by and even made me lunch.”

You couldn’t know that mentioning them was a mistake, but it quite simply was. Because it confirmed what he’d already suspected and chaffed old wounds to both his pride and unspoken feelings.

Just like the tweels, Ace and Deuce knew your secret too.

And it was infuriating. 

Just how many did you trust and tell your secret to outside of him? Was Azul the only one you felt you couldn't trust?

Why? He might hold information over other people, but not you. Especially not when it was something that was obviously compromising your health.

“Angelfish…. Whatever’s wrong, you can tell me. I came here to check in on you and…” Azul paused, all but frowning at his own timidity, which was so at odds with his frustration.

He didn’t know what was wrong, but the longer he looked at you, the more worried and frustrated he got.

He shook his head, making a decision that he didn’t know was for the best, and Azul knew it was unlike him. Because normally he’d err on the side of caution and respect your secret-keeping. But he couldn’t this time. Not if you were in trouble or pain.

He inhaled deeply, letting himself openly frown as he straightened and picked back up where he left off in a more resolute tone, “And I’m sorry, but I’m not leaving until I know you’re fine. Now if you’ll excuse me.”

He pulled open the door, causing you to stumble forward in surprise, your foot catching on the door frame and sending your tumbling forwards with a tiny shriek of surprise.

And Azul caught you easily, despite his surprise, which was when he felt it as you fell against him.

Something that was soft, answered a lot of questions, and completely gave away your secret.

He blinked down at you as you straightened, your arms crossing nervously in front of your chest as you looked away from him.

“Angelfish, you-”

“I’m a girl,” You cut him off quickly, avoiding eye contact and looking most anywhere but him until you winced and your hand went back to your stomach.

Azul felt himself frown, his confusion only growing until you at last met his gaze weakly, “I’m a girl, and all that’s wrong is I’m cramping….. My period just started for this month.”

At first, all he could manage was a soft ‘Ah,’ as he stared at you before all the pieces clicked together in his head.

That was why the tweels had reacted the way they had to his words describing you as a young man. They’d known you were a woman because they could smell the changes in your hormones.

“Then Deuce and Ace-”

“Already know,” You finished lightly, stepping back and letting Azul finish entering the space, even as he frowned at you slightly.

You shifted, sighing slightly, “They found out early on… But I’ve kept it a secret from everyone else.”

Azul blinked down at you quietly before softly voicing his next question, and perhaps the most important one of all, “Why?”

You met his gaze, your expression perfectly exhausted, “Because Crowley said it might be easier for me that way since this is an all-boys school. If I’m not a girl, then there’s no chance of anyone being weird because I’m a girl.”

Azul nodded, still frowning, before shaking his head, “Do you need to sit down? You look exhausted.”

A feeble smile crossed your face as he gestured towards where he knew your living area was, and you nodded.

He cleared his throat lightly as he walked with you, “And you don’t have to worry about me telling anyone. I won’t-”

“I know you won’t, Azul,” He froze at the way you smiled at him, blinking as you laughed lightly at his startled expression. “You might use a lot of people’s secrets against them, but I know you won’t use this against me. Not when you came to check up on me and make sure I was alright.”

For Azul I'd think he would notice you after his overblot. The way you worked with your friends to defeat him was intresting considering that they were residents of the infamous Night Raven College.

Not to mention, you didn't seem disgusted at all with his octomer form nor his embarrasing past and insecurities... In fact, you forgave him of his actions and guided him into a more honest path... Sort of.

So obviously he wanted to know more about you.

Before, he never really bothered with you, he saw you as just another pawn to be manipulated.

But now...

He would find ways to spend time with you or observe you from afar... call it curiosity if you will.

And for the past few weeks now, you just couldn't help but notice that there always seemed to be a octavinelle student within your vicinity. Mostly Jade or Floyd.

Sure, that must be normal since you are in a big school and are bound to walk into other dorm members, but you couldn't help but feel... watched...

And everytime you 'coincidentally' bumped into Azul and you greeted him out of politeness... and... Oh dear... why was his heart beating so fast??

It didn't take long for him to realize that he grew to favor you more than others. At first, he was in denial, that it couldn't possibly be. But when he looked at you, your perfect smile, your perfect face and eyes... Ah...

And as time goes by, Azul's twisted love strengthened each day. He felt drawn to you, like the tide to the moon.

But just like the moon, you were out of reach. Surrounded by your friends (who basically stuck to you like greedy leeches) the octomer could feel his blood boil.

Azul had to find other ways to get you in his grasp. He did extensive research on how humans courted with one another. Day and night, the man worked tirelessly to earn your heart.

It started off small. Each day, you would come to find a small gift at your front door. Inside the little box were elaborate jewels and shells with lovely pearls shrewn about.

But as time flew by, the gifts got bigger, more beautiful and eye catching. They grew with Azul's desperation and obsession.

With you being you, a normal human from another world, you were confused. Your friends didn't help at all either, teasing you because of the gifts, saying things like 'Oooo so who is your boyfriend huuhh?~' and they always wanted to see what you got next.

But after a while, the gifts stopped. It was just... calm for a few days. Your friends were also quite confused. You couldn't help but feel a bit dissapointed.

Meanwhile, Azul was just trying to figure out other ways to woo you. He may be a patient man, but seeing you be so close with your friends...

One day, you got a letter with a lovely bouquet.

Beautiful words were sprawled across the paper, giving subtle hints of who it could be, and how they love you so...

Honestly, you didn't know how to feel about it... You were qurious about who the person was behind all these presents.

But maybe your new friend Azul could help out? He started to hang out with you and your friends for some time now until it felt almost natural to have him around.

The gifts were obviously sea themed, so maybe he could give you some insight on this situation.

Your friends were suspicious, of course, but you saw this as Azul turning over a new leaf.

But you didn't see how he started to separate you and your friends, like tentacles that swarmed over their target, to never let them see the light of day again.

Nor the lovesick look on his face whenever he watched you when you were focused on something else.

Your friends on the other hand... they did though. And from past events, they weren't going to trust Azul again.

So they tried their best to not let you and Azul be alone.

Azul, was of course, enraged by this.

How dare they..? How dare they take you from him!?

So obviously, the octomer had to get rid of these inconveniences.

Jade and Floyd are going to love their new task...

"Ahh... my dear angelfish... you look lovely as always... Hmm? You want to know where your friends are? Well they didn't want to come with us today, so it's just going to be you and me~"

Now the mysterious Jade... hmmm...

If it were where the whole octotrio would fall for you, I'd say he would find Azul's sudden intrest in you intriguing, and when Azul requested for him to observe you, well, how could he possibly decline?

But if he fell for you separately, maybe it's because of your past?

I mean, a human from an entirely different world? He was surprised that no one else saw the golden opportunity before them.

Either way, it started with him eyeing you with curiosity. And he asked you questions. He didn't really expect to be interested in you for long. Even if you were an otherworldly presence, you were also quite plain in his eyes.

So imagine his surprise when he cannot get enough of you.

There was this thing about you that was just so addictive to him, like a drug.

And as time flew by, the eel-mer found himself to be fascinated by everything you do. The way you smiled, moved and sounded was just so... alluring.

Like his love for mushrooms, he wanted to know everything about you. What you were scared of, what you liked to do in your free time, were you an active person or would you prefer to stay in bed all day? He needed to know.

Sooner or later, you found yourself having a shadow trailing behind you.

He became more obvious with his intrest in you, and his questions changed from polite things to downright creepy.

Even when you were alone, you could still feel his eyes observing you.

Both you and your friends were uncomfortable by it...

Jade on the other hand found your peevishness amusing. He watched as you slowly corrupted his already twisted mind. Soon, everything was just you, you, you.

Jade couldn't get enough of you. Everytime he saw you, the world around him changed. Like he watched everything through clouded eyes till your rays of light caressed him so dearly...

He wanted everything about you. From your heart to your flesh down to your very soul.

Like a starved man taking a mere bite of a king's meal, he was enraptured. Intoxicated.

Even if he is the calm twin, he is still a Leech. And he doesn't like sharing...

At first, he would try to coax you to spend more time with him. To herd you away from the people you hold dear.

If that didn't work, then sly words and cold glares at your companions behind your back most certainly does the trick.

And when you are alone and desperate for companionship..?

Well, he will be waiting for you with open arms~

When you looked at him with your cute little eyes, or when you faced of so many dangers so bravely? Or maybe it's when you don't seem to be quite as scared of him like other people?

I'd say you had him interested when he first saw you, but he wasn't really in the mood to scour you out back then and just forgot about you.

Till you caught his eye again (wether it be from Azul or he just saw you minding your own business).

So obviously, being the silly man that he is, he walked up to you and just hanged from your shoulders— even if you are taller or shorter than him —and giving you and whoever you were talking to a good ol' scare.

He buzzes around you like a bee, bothering you and your companions like a little shit.

Floyd is unpredictable. His whirlwind of emotions make him hard to decipher and even harder on how to handle him. He is a pain to deal with, but you endure it for the sake of leaving this world on everyone's good side.

Sometimes he'd come barging in your group, crazy laugh in tow and squeezing the shit out of everyone with excitement (you included).

Or he would be all sad and would just droop over you like a tall sack of potatoes. If anyone asked what was wrong he would just snarl at them.

This boy wants your attention 24/7. When in a crowd, he would look for you and hope you look for him too.

When he played basketball, he would be on his absolute best to steal your attention. He would jump from high areas, do crazy things and even squeeze you super tightly.

Just look at him. Please, please, please just look at him please-

He thrives when you give him attention, even if it is just a hello wave when you see him walking in the hallway of Night Raven.

I'd like to think Floyd is the last person in the octotrio to realize his feelings. At first he will think you are just special, making him instantly happy when he sees you.

Till he notices that he gets also super excited at the thought of you.

And when he finally realizes that 'Hey... maybe you don't see them as a friend anymore.' He'd be pissed as hell.

How dare you make him feel this way! You are such a bad and annoying shrimpy! How dare you! How dare you! How dare you!

Floyd would probably come and yell at you before he leaves you alone.

You won't see him for maybe like a few weeks or months before he comes back.

During that time while he is away, he'd think of you and miss you dearly. At first he hated it. He hated seeing you from the corner of his eye, he hated how you haunted his dreams and thoughts every second of the day.

He hated this aching burn in his chest whenever he thought back to your expression when he lost his temper on you, he hated it so much that he almost cries himself to sleep every night

And with Floyd being Floyd, the whole school noticed his moping and rumors skyrocketed to brand new heights.

Even you heard about those rumors, but you didn't really go and ask Floyd himself due to his outburst a while back.

Till he barged into your life again like nothing happened. Full of giggles and smiles, the mereel tackled you and hugged you tightly and spun you around.

He was back to his normal self again!

And since he realized his feelings, he wants to keep you aaaaallllll for himself~!

Unlike Jade and Azul who used sly and downright dirty tactics, Floyd just beat anyone who merely glanced at you into a pulp.

He disliked how almost everyone seemed to like you (his words not mine) and how they all just climbed around you like the desperate bottom feeders they are. If only he could lock you away forever and keep you to himself...

YES!!! Ahhh first of all, thank you so much for being so excited for it! This really is our newest AU, it’s pretty recent, and we got so excited over nun!Azul that we actually have a lore for it this time lol

Azul, Jade, and Floyd are a part of the Underwater mafia/criminal world, and as a part of Azul’s plan to spread their involvement/power on land, they infiltrate a small and secluded monastery in an isolated island: Azul got a tip that this particular place would be perfect to gain access to important people through religion. All he has to do is to rise in ranks and gain more influence, but for that to happen, he and the boys have to hide their true identity: the merpeople are very demonised in this world and this religion in particular.

No one knows for certain if merpeople exist, so there are a lot of rumors and legends, a lot of which have nothing to do with reality, but the main consensus on land and in the church is that merpeople are spawns of the devil, and the depths of the ocean are the very depths of Hell. So Azul and the tweels have to really keep it together while listening to other nuns talk about mermaids seducing poor men and drowning them, literally dragging them to the underworld for their souls to suffer for eternity.

But our merboys do a very good job, and no one suspects them, in fact, they became rather popular very quickly. Nuns adore sister Floyd and consider him to be a very bright innocent soul, a little childish, but only closer to God for that; and sister Jade is like a saint that takes care of the older nuns and sick ones, selflessly spending hours at the infirmary. And of course, sister Azul is an absolute angel that is always here to support and help anyone who needs it.

(by the way yeah, everyone here is a boy, but they are still called sisters – don’t worry too much about it, we just really wanted them to be nuns…)

But even though Azul, as per usual, just acts nice and in actuality dislikes pretty much everyone around him, there is one person he got genuinely close with – it’s sister Idia, a mysterious shut-in that really stands out from the rest of the nuns. You can rarely see him around, he prefers to stay alone and he is excused from some events. Azul is intrigued by Idia, but also genuinely enjoys their chats and playing little board games (which they’re not really allowed to play) with him whenever they get a chance to spend some free time together.

And this accidental gamble of spending time with a loner weirdo really pays off when Azul finds out that Idia is, in fact, a son of a very rich and influential family, and that he is probably even the biggest golden ticket for Azul than any other fat-cat Azul could’ve gained access to through his way up the ranks.

This changes Azul’s plans: now he wants to take Idia back with them, when it’s time for him and the Tweels to leave…

One day, he invites Idia to talk alone in a private room, and as sister Idia arrives, he witnesses something otherworldly and horrifying: long and slimy tentacles crawling from under Azul’s robes. Not only did poor Idia not know that merpeople even existed, he sure as hell didn’t expect to see one among the nuns AND with tentacles lol

But aside from utter shock, confusion and fear, Idia also feels like he is getting something that he deserves. If merpeople exist and he is witnessing one with his own eyes, maybe it has come to drag him to Hell where he belongs. Because you see, Idia also has a secret… and a reason why he got pretty much disowned from his family and sent to live here in isolation.

I was supposed to sleep, figured I'd jot down a few thoughts, and realized I ended up with a full-fledged post all of a sudden.

I'm definitely open to hearing other people's ideas tho because these literally are what first came to mind.

Vil: gets to have the obvious pick of singing (I thought of trying something different but honestly he slotted well there in the end)

Idia: keyboard / synths. Obviously. (yes my metal tends more melodic / symphonic)

Jamil: harsh vocals I guess? For that good old beauty & the beast vocal vibe. Maybe he also needs some exotic folk instrument to round things out for when he's not got so much singing duties (my mind's going to like hurdy gurdy because Patty Gurdy but because Finnish personal bias I kinda wanna give him an electronic kantele. Oh oh actually of course he should have a Scalding Sands flute and funky solos).

That or he just mass hypnotizes the audience into a mosh pit and cackles (my Jamil bias may be showing throwing all the things his way)

Azul: drums. The things he can do that no one else can, with all the tentacles going at once

Malleus: I don't know why I want to give Malleus bass but I kinda wanna give Malleus bass. Just powerfully thudding along in the baseline (I don't know music I just listen to it but maybe someone catches the vibe).

Leona: was gonna be destroying the drums but then I thought of Azul’s potential so I guess he's getting guitar. Lead guitar maybe?

Riddle: tbf, rhythm guitar kinda makes sense for him? Follow the rules and keep the thing together (I mean arguably the drums are probably more important for that but again I don't really know what I'm talking about here)

And now I definitely have in my head a scene focused on Vil & Jamil dueting on the stage for like some adversarial song and being all dramatic about it while explosions go off

OOOOOOO OMG imagine being his secretary and when he can't find someone to watch his kids while he's at work he just dumps them on you. T_T Azul's so busy and your entire job essentially revolves around him. Looking after his kids for the day is just part of that, or so he tells you with that classic, persuasive smirk-grin of his. You didn't mind it at first because it wasn't a recurring thing, but then his kids start to complain that you're boring and never let them leave the office. :/ you just don't want to risk them running off or getting lost if you take them outside. Besides, "babysitter" isn't in your job description and you're by no means a professional. You're not sure what Mr. Ashengrotto would do with you if you couldn't watch his kids for one workday. >_< the last thing you want is to get fired, so you sternly explain that they should just wait in here until their papa can come and see them.

His kids are ruthless. Of course they're absolute angels when Azul's around, but the moment it's you and them they're wanting to trash your office so you'll let them outside or they're interrogating you about how you know their dad and why he seems so close to you. It's so very exhausting, but you manage it because you have to. You're not a vindictive person, but it does annoy you each time his children bully you outright. One of them even criticized your lunch, saying, "Papa has a private chef and the meals he serves us are always gourmet. Your lunch looks yucky and poor!"

Great Seven, you are a hair's breadth away from going insane. They are so spoiled. You'd feel bad about calling them brats, but that's what they sound like when they complain and pout and throw tantrums. In a way, their bad attitude reminds you of your boss when he doesn't get his way in a business negotiation. He sulks and complains for all of a few hours before getting his head back in the game, sharper and more cutthroat than ever.

Azul offers to take you out for a fancy, five-star dinner as thanks for always looking after his kids. You agree to it right away because he said he'll be paying, but in the midst of your greed you fail to regulate just how much expensive champagne you drink. And by the end of the night, you're being brought back to Azul's penthouse because he doesn't trust you to be on your own when you're this intoxicated. One thing leads to another and the two of you are kissing in the hall. It doesn't go any further than that because a series of horrified gasps resound from down the hall and the both of you whirl to face his children, all of them wearing the most obvious expressions of betrayal.

"No way... Dad's kissing a commoner!" they exclaim in unison, eyes blown wide.

T_T he's going to have to teach his kids about manners. And they'll have to get used to seeing you more often because their papa is so whipped for you. <3

THROWING MY THOUGHS IN HERE

1.Floyd should be Poseidon, Poseidon is annoyed more than anything, at Odysseus. I think they have a similar philosophy towards ruthlessness. I think the mood shifts Poseidon has are very similar to Floyd's. Do I think Floyd would stay 8 years in front of Ithica? Well if he was an immortal god with no real perspection of time then yes.

2. Azul should be the Siren, she is trying to convince and manipulate Odysseus. She gives him information in return of him jumping into the water. The sirens use their voices to decive and try to convince the sailors not to kill them. And if he had let them go, it would've off to find the next poor unfortunate souls.

3.Jade should be Scylla. Scylla seems very calm at the beginning, apearing more dangerous and aggressive as the song goes on until the end where it's calm again. You could make a case about Floyd's mood swings here, but I think Jade's whole thing is keeping a calm composure regardless of the situation. Apart from the fact he's insane. Scylla's lair is calm, something lurks under there and it causes a sense of unease, until Scylla just goes "Hello" and starts collecting sacrifices. That little interaction reads to me like Jade's idea of a fun time.

I really agree with Floyd’s, like I imagine him as Poseidon a lot, mainly because of the mood swings but also because I love like the mental imagery of him being like giant as Poseidon and snapping his teeth at the crew during the ‘Guess the pack of wolves is swimming with the sharks now!’ But also like this guy pissed him off and hurt someone he cares about, what’s eight years to an immortal deity if it means settling a score? Probably barely a blip in the radar.

Azul being the siren is interesting to me honestly! Like part of me can imagine him as Scylla if only because of all the arms and tentacles, but I agree with a lot of people that the siren would fit him more because the siren tries to manipulate people with their voices and information, just like how Azul in canon manipulated people with information they needed (the study guides) plus the fact that Ursula disguised herself as someone Eric wanted (the mysterious voice) and the siren disguised herself as Penelope who Odysseus desperately wanted to see

Jade, gives off a very uneasy feeling in a lot of ways and would honestly fit with Scylla I feel, like in the beginning she’s calm, she’s soothing if a little eerie, but there’s small tells that there’s something else going on underneath that you don’t want to witness. Like in book four, how Jade talks about how he’d ‘lash out with a torrent of unmitigated verbal abuse to break them down mentally, then bind them and drag them beneath the waves.’ Which Scylla does, at least the dragging them beneath the waves bit. Scylla gets her sacrifices, and so will Jade. It only depends on who’s holding the torches in the end.

After Azul discontinued his “frequent kidnapping” cards, Yuu should’ve known that he’d never actually give out a voucher for 50% off at the original location’s black tie evening without there being some sort of catch behind it.

But they were hungry, and short on funds, and damn it, they just want something nice to eat that doesn’t mean they have to break the bank or exhaust themselves after an already long day by cooking.

The outfit they slip into is an old standby, one that Uncle Divvy had tailored for them back when Yuu was just out of university, after a discussion about their career path and how important it is to dress for the occasion should they wind up covering a high-profile event.

Asymmetrical, form-fitting, with a matching clutch just big enough for the fedora to slide into. The ensemble pairs well with the glittering ivory-into-silver-into-black eyeshadow that Yuu spends ages perfecting the gradient on.

The reporter has to remind themselves not to feel flattered when Floyd actually does a double take when they walk in the door, that any attention from either of the twins is not attention they want if they want to have a nice, peaceful meal.

To say nothing of how their boss will react…

The maitre d’ leads Yuu to a table a reasonable distance from the entrance and the bar, takes the coupon, and brings them a cocktail they spot several other guests sipping on.

An oddly cutesy drink, brightly colored gummies in a tall glass of carbonated liquid, with a sweet, tart taste designed to mask how alcoholic it is.

They resolve to sip it sparingly, and are perusing the menu furiously, trying to work out whether they can afford to splurge on a starter or dessert with the coupon, or if they should focus on eating a filling main, when the already dim lights go out.

There are a few gasps and confused mutters from the other patrons, murmurs from the staff that there’s nothing to worry about, it’s all part of the show—

Yuu feels something cold and metallic brush their waist.

They try to leap out of their chair, get away from it—!

But it’s much too fast, wrapping around them as tightly as an octopus’ tentacles around unwilling prey, trapping their arms and legs by their sides and inducing a sense of vertigo as they’re lifted high into the air, away from where their clutch (their fedora!) is lying on the table.

The lights go up on a stage area below them, Jade sitting behind an electric keyboard while Floyd’s gone and got drums from somewhere. Other Octavinelle minions are standing with their instruments at the ready.

And, of course, Octo Dealer is standing center-stage, a microphone in front of him, wearing a sly grin.

“So lovely of you to come out tonight, my dearest reporter.” He says. “As thanks, I’d like to dedicate a little number we’ve been preparing to you.”

“Hit it!”

Needless to say, Yuu would probably be more impressed if they’d been actually allowed to eat something, before getting roped into this ridiculous song and dance number.

My thoughts, warning for NSFW if you’re in public and some poly octotrio goodness—

When not deep fried, octopus seems so squishy and gooey. The tentacles have to be ticklish, like touching the bottom of your feet.

Squirmy, squirmy Azul.

What I mean to say, is because Azul likes you so much, lightly grasping at one of his tentacles has him flushing and twitching in your grasp. He tried to hide it in public, hoping no one notices his beet red face. He’s burying his neck into your shoulder, half-heartedly whining about his “reputation”. Give his tentacle a squeeze and your octopus will disappear under the ocean, a drawn out moan washed out by the water.

Depending on their mood, the eels may help Azul out. That means targeting you in your weak spots, till your flustered twitches make you let go of Azul. Not that you mind.

A lot of the times, they won’t help Azul. They’ll hoist the shy Octomer out of the water, cooing at his warbled and moany state.

Push too far and Azul will use his tentacles against you, coiling around you and pulling you in so he can have his way with you.

Azul is so so soooo shy in his merform. Azul does actually enjoy PDA, he loves showing you off and subtly bragging that he was one of the partners you chose. But getting to that point takes a hot moment, not even considering his rapid personality change in his merform. He's still trying to convince himself that you love and care for him no matter his form, but old habits die very hard. So it's up to you to press the sweetest, most tooth-rotting kisses to him and his 8 limbs.

It doesn't help that his tentacles are very sensitive to any simulation, so much information is gained from just his suckers alone! Azul is soooo whining about his “reputation” as he turned a deeper shade of purple at your antics. If you happen to grab at the most sensitive arm and focus on the spade-shaped tip, he'll be a cute moaning mess as he tries to sink further into the water. The twins are no help to at all either, which comes as no surprise. They're curling their tails around his arms, webbed hands caressing Azul's skin, and claws ghosting around his hips. Jade's cooing sweet, teasing words into his ears, encouraging Azul to be louder, to praise you for your good work. Floyd's busying himself with sucking hickies into his neck, giggling at Azul's high-pitched moans. If anyone were to pass by the hidden grotto the four of you took refuge in, they'd hear the cutest whimpers and gasps alongside haughty murmurs and giggles.

He does eventually strike back, his arms are made entirely made of muscle, and he is a couple feet bigger than the eels and quite a few feet bigger than you. Azul's got a tight grip around your waist after you took his spade-tip into your mouth and sucked. Now he's taken to using his tentacles to my you moan and cry out, nudging the twins to “help” him out. After all, he has venom in his bite, so he can't truly mark you up on his own. Come on now, Jade, Floyd? You left him with such a pretty flush and marks, do the same for our darling human~

How would some of the centaur guys be with a little human around - like if MC had a little sibling or something?

I can see Lilia lending a hand with looking after the kid, and some of the younger ones letting them join in with games (although human squishieness may prove to be a dilemma - two-legged friends may not be quite as resilient as centaurs lol)

MC Younger Sibling

If the kid was with mc from the beginning they will be closest with the first years by far. They grew and matured together, it’s only natural for them to be so close. Their bond would be stronger than the boys have with mc, so if the kid moves out they will be going with them. As for the rest they would be just as protective of them as they are of mc. Malleus in particular would be extra protective. Every other human thinks he’s a ferocious beast except the two relatives of Crowley, he’d spoil the kid rotten if mc wasn’t there. Silver and Lilia are also particularly fond of the little munchkin. Lilia just loves kids in general and Silver wants to protect whatever mc holds dear.

Tiny humans in General

Now if we’re going outside the story, things are very different for a lot of the boys.

Riddle, Azul, and Idia would avoid the kid as much as possible. It’s not that they utterly despise kids, they’re just inexperienced and need to warm up to them. Once they know how to deal with them they’ll stop running off.

Idia will immediately try to run away as soon as the kid enters the same room. He does not do well with strangers, especially loud ones, and is prone to lashing out when backed into a corner. He should definitely not be left alone with a child nearby, there’s a huge risk he might accidentally injure them.

Azul has only seen kids on the other side of his tank and has never interacted with them. He is aware humans are much more fragile than centaurs and is worried he might scare or harm them. Usually he flees to his octopot to hide in until they’re gone. If he can’t he stays near his master, using them as a shield of sorts. Give him time to adjust and he’ll be tossing kids into the air with his tentacles for some fun before you know it.

Riddle does not do well in loud and stressful environments for long periods of time without breaks. He does not handle stress well and will be overwhelmed soon. You should introduce him slowly so he can adjust. Given time he will become a top notch babysitter. He has no problem with cuddling up for a story or nap time.

Ace (cardinal) and Epel absolutely hate any kids that are not their own or their masters.

Ace loses lots of feathers from their sticky hands and hates how they always bother him for a ride. He will go full animal to hide in places where they can’t get to him. Otherwise he’s very good at keeping them entertained. He teaches them magic tricks and harmless pranks. He’s happy to let family have his feathers, he often uses them for tickle attacks.

Epel will do whatever he can to keep unwanted kids away. He hates how they call him cute and keep trying to play because he’s just a bunny with antlers, that means he’s friendly! This is not true, jackalope centaurs are known for their stubbornness and willingness to fight. Plus it hurts when they pull on his antlers. On the other hand he puts up with being called cute because he doesn’t have to worry about someone getting mad at him for correcting them. No karens for him. He’ll be more tolerant of being picked up and hugs, though in any pictures he’ll have a grumpy face of defeat.

Cater, Jack, Ruggie, Floyd, Kalim, Rook, Ortho, Malleus, Lilia, and Cheka adore kids.

Bunny centaurs are known for being very good with kids and often make perfect pets for big families. Cater is no exception. He soaks up all the compliments kids give me. He’s happy to play pretend with them, do their hair and makeup, read, anything. They don’t judge him and just want to have fun.

Jack loves playing with them due to his high energy levels. Absolutely loves playing fetch and going for a swim with ‘em. And once they’re all tuckered out you can find them all curled up for a nap. He doesn’t hide his emotions around kids, they don’t pose a threat.

Ruggie also has high energy so he doesn’t mind running around with them for an hour or so. His favorite part is all the pets and snacks they give him. Be careful of his weight or you might end up with an unhealthy hyena on your hands.

Though Floyd is another with high energy he can also be just as low energy. He only likes playing when he’s in the mood and will not respond well if pestered. Best to keep kids away, let him play with the teens.

Kalim comes from a respectable breeder that takes the utmost care of all pets in their possession. There were both human and centaur kids running around when he was there, so he knows how to be careful around them. A fun thing fox centaurs can do is roll around like a wheel in their half form. He has a lot of fond memories tucking kiddos close to his belly and somersaulting around the yard. It’s hard to get him dizzy.

Rook is a curious fellow and will happily entertain children to see how they react. His favorite game is hide and sneak to no one's surprise. He’s not allowed to be the seeker because he’s too good at it. Learned his lesson so he makes sure to let himself be found every so often. Unfortunately banned from playing tag he keeps making kids cry. His face gets scary when he’s it.

Ortho and Cheka are also children.

Malleus likes to be around them because it satisfies his need to protect something. Loves going tiny dragon and sleeping on them. Dragon hoarding behavior.

Lilia is same as canon when it comes to kids.

Leona, Jamil, and Sebek prefer to not be around kids but aren’t going to run for the hills like the first three. They just kinda go “ugh, annoying.” and continue with their day.

Leona is very tolerant of them and doesn’t really mind them using him as a jungle gym. There’s no need to worry about them climbing over the manticore either, no scorpion tail for him. He will correct them if they do any tail pulling and such. Boys get a gentle bap or roared at. Girl's get a growl. He tolerates females more. He secretly loves when kids fall asleep with him. It’s a huge sign of trust to fall asleep when touching another for centaurs. They will take this very seriously and make sure you’re comfy as possible.

Snakes can be scary to some so Jamil doesn’t have to worry about them as much. The brave ones that do approach will be neither welcomed nor shooed away unless he’s busy. He doesn’t mind entertaining their questions or letting them get a closer look at his features. He does like when they touch his scales, the warmth of their hands feel nice.

Sebek will shoo them away if he’s busy with anything. He doesn’t like being interrupted and has no qualms harshly correcting kids that test his patience. If he’s asked to watch them he lays down on the side while they run around doing kid things. His eyes are unblinking as he babysits, taking the job very seriously. Unless the kids ask him to join in he just stays like that. Now if we’re swimming that’s a whole different topic. Sebek loves water and will happily play in it with anyone. You can see him giving the kids rides pretending to be their boat or he’ll dive under with them hanging on with snorkeling masks.

The rest of the boys don’t explicitly swing one way or another.

Vil and Trey have no problem interacting with them but don’t seek out to do so either. Vil does like doing their hair and makeup. Trey likes to give them treats and has fun baking with them. They both enjoy playing pretend too.

Deuce, Jade, and Silver will initiate play time as much as they don’t. They rarely say no to having fun with them but will sometimes seek out a hiding spot from being overstimulated by the loud and chaotic energy kids have.
