I feel like sometimes certain TWST fans categorize Azul's trauma as less than because they boil it down to "He was bullied." And that is where they stop, but I feel like they don't see the layers as to why he was bullied.

Facts from the game are that Azul was bullied for being slow, his appearance, and being a crybaby. We also know his peers did not respect him until he held power over them(this, of course, transfered to how he behaves at NRC). Azul grew up around kids who hated him for his natural appearance, something he couldn't control, making him think he didn't look pretty and to have a negative self-image. They also accidentally taught him that if he doesn't have anything over people, he can not be their equal.

I think everyone is aware that Azul's bullies were racist. That is quite clear in the story. Azul's species is considered to not be common in the Coral Sea, implying that they are either not native to there or have a low birth rate. Maybe even a combination of both. This can also lead to the idea that Azul was possibly the only octomer at their school, making his alienation from his peers more evident. Another thing you have to remember is that children are not born racist. They have to learn that behavior from someone, so Azul's bullies had to have a source. Whether it be an educator or their parents, this racist prejudice against Azul came from someone else. This was also high society. The Coral Sea prince went to their school, high class mers were here, meaning this wasn't just a small opinion in a little town, but an opinion high class society has against octomers that could possibly trickle down to lower spaces in mer society.

"If we pretend to be a newly married couple, do you think this hotel would give us the honeymoon suite?" Idly, you scroll through photos of the hotel and its rooms, admiring the jacuzzi bath and the wide, tall windows with a breathtaking view. "It's a nice place. Kinda expensive, though."

Azul looks up from the economics magazine he's been poring over for the past fifteen minutes now. He sits against the headboard of his bed, and you're lying flat on your back. Your legs are draped over his lap in a casual sprawl. Sometimes, when you're side by side like this, he thinks otherwise of your arrangement.

Just marry 'em already, Floyd had once said. You're doin' all the usual shit couples do. What's one more step?

Although that 'one more step' is more like a giant, impossible leap across a yawning cavern with a horrendous drop. He can't risk it.

Azul peers at your phone when you hand it to him. He flicks through the images, assessing quality and aesthetics in one go. "It's not bad. Why a honeymoon suite, though?"

"I dunno. It sounds fun. I think we'd pass as a believable couple."

He exhales through his nose, amused. "Is that how you see me? As a stand-in husband?"

"Your words."

Azul rolls his eyes playfully, an impish grin tugging at his lips. He sets his magazine and your phone on the bedside table before moving to lie beside you. You peer at him as he props himself up on one arm.

"Your implication," he counters, leaning in to rub noses with you.

"Your choice." You wink, preening under the affectionate treatment. "So what do you think? Vacation as a faux married couple—yes or no?"

"My answer should be clear enough." Azul drags you into a lazy embrace, pressing his forehead to yours. "Come with me to pick out a ring. If we're going to commit to the act, we might as well cover all of our bases, yes?"

"Fine by me."

"My dearest angelfish, you've made me the happiest man," he exaggerates.

"Save that for when you put the ring on me, charmer."

"It doesn't hurt to practice now. Shall I lend you my surname for rehearsal?"

You loop your arms around him, legs intertwining. "Why, how kind of you."

The rest of your gratitude is expressed in a slow, sweet kiss.

I'd really like prompt 3, the one with the dream if them , and Azul from twst

He's my fav of the twst cast and a comfort character (❁´◡`❁)

my pronouns are they/them/he/him, so do whatever you like with that info

maybe it's just me, but in a dream someone would have to do something cute and/or sweet in it to get me flustered and avoiding them (lol I'm weak to fluff but not really spice)

💌Azul Ashengrotto + Prompt #3 (Seeing them in your dreams, being too flustered to face them in real life.)

Dreams end at the most climactic moment. That is to say, right when the zombies catch you or as soon as you hit the ground. The same holds true for good dreams especially.

Which brings you to your current predicament. 

The details were fading away, all that remained burned into your mind were those final moments—a wistful piano instrumental filling the air, the feeling of your hand in his as he led you in a slow dance, a lightness taking over your body as if you were floating, the steady heat of his palm against yours lingering even after you’ve woken up.

Of course, to be further spited by fate, the both of you are paired for a short research paper, carefully looking through the reference section of the library. Together.

“—if we could find more literature on—Hm? Is something the matter?” Azul looks up from the book he was skimming through.

“Oh, it’s nothing. I’ve just got a few things on my mind.” You play it off with a wave of your hand.

He levels a concerned look at you. “Is our class representative overworking himself again?”

“N-no, not this time. It’s nothing, just some personal business.”

“If you say so, then. But if you need a listening ear, just know that I can make room in my schedule to assist you. It would be terrible if I let a dear colleague of mine carry such a burden, wouldn’t it?” There’s something about those words, or maybe his voice, that makes your stomach uneasy. 

There are some things you know about Azul Ashengrotto definitively. Anyone can spot his flair for showmanship. He’s busy, but also approachable. Maybe distant at times, but always polite.

(Not at all like the Azul in your dream. Not like the Azul of now.)

Scratch that point about distance, you didn’t get the memo that the both of you were close enough to be dear colleagues.

But here you are, on the receiving end of his complete and utter attention. It occurs to you now how little you truly know about Azul.

The ring of the bell cuts your conversation short, and you blurt out a flimsy excuse before rushing out and leaving him alone in the library.

Another twst head canon that comes to mind;

Lilia tries to pretend he’s not protective of Silver. He even reasoned with Malleus, who feeling defensive of his human guard, that it's normal for humans to start dating at Silver’s age. Then he sees people start taking an 'interest' in Silver.

Then it’s like, ‘What are you doing? Why are you moving in on my sweet angel? You trying to take him from me—go away!’ Not that he ever says any of these thoughts aloud. He just causally happens to pop up whenever Silver’s talking to anyone romantically interested in him. He also finds a way to “accidentally” interrupt a confession. All while denying to everybody that he’s actually doing any of this. (Not that he has to do this often. Malleus’ threatening aura usually scares suitors away before they even try. Malleus helped raised Silver after all, so he isn't going to let just anyone try to woo his knight.)

Silver, meanwhile, is oblivious to all of this because Lilia never had that talk with him. (Lilia tried many times, but whenever he does he sees Silver as a babe, and his heart breaks.)

OOOOOO omg devil!Jade who is always up to no good... and then angel!Floyd who is objectively the worst angel ever. T_T he's the least holy angel you'll ever meet (he's committing sacrilege daily and archangel Rollo is going to kick him out of heaven for one more infraction), but at least he's sort of good at his job (i.e. he's good at lazing around and putting good vibes out into the world)???

He's assigned to you as your guardian angel and all is well until Jade worms his way into your life, ready to lead you astray with all sorts of mischievous temptation. He's the soggiest incubus you've ever met because he thought it'd be cute to look pathetic and hungry, but you refuse to let him feed from you and now he just looks silly when he's all splayed out on your bed like a nude model in his skimpy outfit. :( mission failed successfully? Because now he's so whipped for you, the only human who's able to resist all of his charms. He thinks he'll stay for a while; your home is very comfortable. <3

Floyd's kicking him out because you're his human shrimpy. It's his job to look after and protect you. Jade is not welcomed here. >:( Floyd's jealousy gets the better of him and maybe he's being petty when he blesses your house and puts all sorts of magical seals and enchantments on it to ward off devils like Jade, but this is only because he wants you all to himself. How else can he possibly have a chance with you if Jade's so annoyingly relentless with his attempts to charm you into sex? T_T

Thinking again about the future Interschool Spelldrive competition, what if we get a second boot camp (it almost worked on Book 5, damn you Rook).

This time, things would be a bit more hectic, though.

Assuming the team would consist of all the overblotters + Grim, here's some headcanons:

- After a lot of arguing, they agree to name Vil the leader, with Leona acting as the coach and captain;

- To make things easier, they establish a few rules, only to remember Riddle is there. They settle for "No fighting or it's Off With Your Head for a day";

- Vil creates a skincare routine for everyone;

- Malleus and Leona are constantly bickering;

- There was an attempt to enforce a diet (it was just a ban on Idia's instant noodles), but Riddle got offended and we got this exchange:

Riddle: As you can see, I already follow a strict diet, so no need to worry!

Vil: That's way too unhealthy, you're starving yourself! You need more nutrients!

Yuu: Soooo, is this plus the overblot enough to call the CPS on Riddle's mom already? And revoke her license while we're at it?

Grim: Man, everytime we think we've seen the worst of her, Mrs. Rosehearts just finds a new way to show how she sucks at parenting...

Everyone: WHAT THE ACTUA-

Riddle: MOVING ON!!

(Azul also wanted to say a few things on the diet part, but Leona cut him off with a pointed look and a "You're fine, octopunk, remember, don't let the opinions of a bunch of jerks control you! Be yourself and be healthy!")

- They dealt with the Mrs. Rosehearts problem as soon as possible to avoid a murder on the day of the game;

- They wake up early for practice! Idia and Leona have to be dragged out of their beds. The others started a game over who could wake these two the fastest (Vil brough an orchestra while Yuu brought Adeuce and a kazoo, Jamil won) ;

- I sincerely don't know where Azul or Idia would be on the team due to their low stamina and hatred of brooms. Right now it's Riddle, Jamil and Vil on brooms, Leona and Malleus on the ground. Maybe Idia on the ground while Azul goes through his character arc and flies;

- Game nights for team building. Don't let them play Uno or Monopoly. Jamil is killing it on DDR though;

- To teach them the importance (and how to skirt the rules) Leona created a game where people have to break a rule and not get caught by the referee (Riddle). If you can escape his notice, you're fine;

- They exchange Spelldrive tactics, though most moves are familiar to the rest, Heartslabyul's "Throw the disk and the player into the goal" was new (it was inspired by the chandelier incident);

- Vil is designing a new NRC outfit (team spirit requires a good team outfit);

- They may or may not find a hidden catacomb in Ramshackle;

- Jamil has finally known peace, he just needs a set of headphones;

- Breakfast time includes a lot of yelling. Riddle can be seen drinking tea with the ghosts on the ceiling, trying to avoid the chaos. Malleus sometimes joins the group;

The rest of the cast pays them regular visits to make sure nobody died yet.
