Sis bought these individually wrapped Red Bean Daifuku (大福) from Chateraise Singapore. I can’t remember the price but it cost around the region of S$2 each. This Japanese confection or wagashi (和菓子) is a small round mochi stuffed with a sweet filling, most commonly anko, a sweetened red bean paste made from azuki beans. The glutinous rice mochi is slightly chewy and stretchy plus the red bean filling is pleasantly sweet.

World-class Offensive Midfielder With Boundless Parameters
Aiming to become the best midfielder in the world, Sae is a super player with the complete package of mind, technique, and physique. Isagi’s best play which he pulled off with “reflex” was stopped with just a light tackle. He killed The Direct Shot flawlessly, showing the big difference between the two.****
He’s Only Interested In Blue Lock! The One He Chose Was Shidou?
Sae was only interested in Blue Lock and paid no attention to his younger brother Rin or the U-20 Japan National Team. The world he sees and the place he aims for are clearly different from those of the U-20 National Team. Sae chose Shidou from Blue Lock as his teammate. With a series of super plays, they managed to corner Blue Lock.
The reason for Sae's sudden change... What on earth happened in Spain!?
Sae went to Spain and promised his younger brother Rin that he’d become “The Best Striker In The World”. However, when he returned home four years later, his attitude had changed completely . He declared that he would become “The Best Midfielder In The World” instead and pushed Rin away, calling him "tepid".*****
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sae's Ranking on "Best 3 of Everything: Players seriously voted each!"
1. Ranked #1 The Best at Crossing (Centering)
Hiori’s commentary: "Well, all of Itoshi Sae’s kicks are perfectly designed. I admire him."
2. Ranked #2 The Most Likely To Succeed As Coach
3. Ranked #1 Who Doesn't Cry Easily
Aryu’s commentary: "If Itoshi Sae were to cry, it would be when he became the world’s best. That would be the moment of ultimate styl."******
4. Ranked #1 The Least Family-oriented person
Isagi’s commentary: "If you look at those two, you would assume so. But if they really hate each other… It means that they also think about each other."
5. Ranked #2 The Most Likely To Thrive In The Sengoku Period
6. Ranked #2 The Most Leader-like (or has the qualities of a leader)
7. Ranked #3 Longest Eyelashes
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Notes:
*Álvaro Recoba (El Chino) is a midfielder from Uruguay known for his "rainbow-like" curved kicks.
**Return back to zero=being refreshed.
***In early 2021 twitter Q&A, he said he stopped getting Christmas presents when Rin stopped believing in Santa. His answer is revised in Egoist Bible to just "10 years old."
****The original sentence is “...a super player who possesses everything– mind, technique and physique (心技体)”. 心技体 or Shingitai refers to the three qualities an athlete must have: 心 is heart/mind, 技 is technique/skill, 体 is body/physique/strength. It is said that an athlete needs 3 of them to succeed. If they only have the right mind and skills but not the body to support them… well you’ll know what will happen!  So from our understanding Shingitai is an ‘inseparable set’. We translated it as a “complete package” to let you know that those 3 qualities are inseparable!
*****Here the word used is 突き放す (tsukihanasu). Tsukihanasu is 'to push away', to push someone (or something) away and make them leave. It can also refer to an attitude of  treating someone without love, sympathy, or emotions. Please check my notes on Rin’s profile page, because there is a connection!
******What Aryu originally said isファ イナリーオシャ final osha. "The moment where Itoshi Sae finally cried would be the moment of ultimate/final styl.” is most likely what he meant! We personally think ‘ultimate styl’ had more feel than ‘final styl’ (?), that’s why we went with ultimate osha!
Check Sae's profile from the first volume of Egoist Bible here!

[Traditional Chinese Festival] Customs of 臘八節(Laba Festival) in China.Eng Sub
Today(January 18, 2024) is the traditional Chinese festival,臘八節 Laba Festival.Let’s learn about some interesting traditions and customs about this festival.
【About 臘八節(Laba Festival)】
Laba Festival (Chinese:臘八節) is a traditional Chinese holiday celebrated on the eighth day of the month of La (or Layue 臘月), the twelfth month of the Chinese calendar. It is the beginning of the Chinese New Year period. It is customary on this day to eat Laba congee.
Laba Festival was not on a fixed day until the Southern and Northern dynasties, when it was influenced by Buddhism and was fixed on the eighth day of twelfth month, which was also the enlightenment day of the Buddha. Therefore, many customs of the Laba Festival are related to Buddhism.
The Laba Festival's name represents its date on the Chinese calendar. La is the name of the twelfth and final month, and ba means "eight/八". In ancient China, the "eight/八" referred to making sacrifices to eight gods at the end of the year.
In its original form, the festival was celebrated by making sacrifices to gods and ancestors to wish for good fortune, health, safety, and a good harvest in the new year. The word la originally referred to these sacrifices.
After Buddhism spread to China during the first century CE, the festival was used as commemoration of Gautama Buddha's enlightenment. It was given a fixed date (the eighth day of the twelfth month) during the Northern and Southern dynasties.
【Customs of 臘八節/Laba Festival?】
Laba congee/臘八粥
Tumblr media
Traditionally, the consumption of Laba congee is an important element of the festival. There are multiple legendary accounts of the dish's origins. One story says that it originated in the Song dynasty with Buddhist monasteries giving congee to people in honor of the story that Sakyamuni (Gautama Buddha) reached enlightenment on the eighth day of the twelfth month after eating congee.
Laba congee or Laba porridge (臘八粥; Làbāzhōu) is very popular in many places in China. Different kinds of rice, beans, nuts and dried fruits are the main ingredients. People believe that it's good for health in the winter.
It is also known as "eight-treasure congee" (八宝粥; Bā bǎo zhōu)and is usually made with eight or more ingredients, representing good luck. Eight is a lucky number in China, and the ba in Laba also means eight.
There are many variations of Laba congee in different regions of China. Ingredients can include mixed grains, such as rice, millet, and barley; beans and nuts such as mung beans, azuki beans, lotus seeds, peanuts, walnuts, and chestnuts; dried fruit such as red dates, longan, raisins, and goji berries; and other ingredients such as vegetables and meat.
2.Laba garlic/臘八蒜
Tumblr media
Another Laba food is Laba garlic, which is particularly popular in northern China.Garlic in Chinese (蒜; suàn) has the same pronunciation as calculate (算; suàn), and it is said that on the Laba Festival businesses should balance their books and calculate their revenues and expenditures for the year.Laba garlic is made by soaking garlic in vinegar. Laba garlic is soaked in vinegar from the Laba Festival until Chinese New Year. The garlic and vinegar are then used alongside Chinese dumplings (jiaozi) around Chinese New Year.

Note
You know those cheesy pasta dishes with all the fancy add-ins like heavy cream and garlic so we can all pretend to ourselves that we aren't just eating mac and cheese like overgrown children? What sort of equivalent dishes do the people of Tamriel enjoy, that are basically just dressed-up "kid food" dishes?
Who doesn't love a cheeky meal that brings back memories of childhood? Across Tamriel, you'll find all manner of simple, hearty foods that will make you feel like a kid again!
Altmer
In Summerset, young and old alike enjoy mochi, a tasty sweet snack made from chewy glutinous rice flour. Mochi comes in many varieties, with fillings like sweet peanut or black sesame paste. However, almost everyone's favourite is a cold mochi filled with soft gelato of various flavours. My favourite combination is matcha mochi wrapped around a moreish azuki bean ice cream centre.
Argonians
Is there anything that makes you feel more like a kid than some snacking? Argonians are huge fans of anything that packs a crunch, both sweet and savoury. Whether it's spicy and sweet crickets, dark saltrice sauce-coated mealworms, or just good old prawn crackers with some dipping sambal, be prepared to snack your way all day long in Black Marsh.
Bosmer
If you're one of those people who stands in the kitchen gnawing a block of cheese at midnight, you're in good company in Valenwood. A popular late-night treat served at street food vendors across the Province is a simple cup of grilled witchetty grubs slathered in timber mammoth cheese sauce and topped with pulled pork. The grubs are meaty in flavour, and the pungent timber mammoth cheese complements the pulled pork when mixed all together, as the locals enjoy it.
Bretons
Pain au chocolat? Yes please! These deliciously buttery puffed pastries are essentially rectangular croissants enveloping delicious dark chocolate. Served warm, they're sure to make any breakfast or teatime a happy one! To really satisfy those chocolate cravings, pair with a classic Breton hot chocolate, complete with marshmallows and whipped cream.
Dunmer
Marshmerrow cake is the ubiquitous Dunmeri dessert that has gained popularity far beyond the borders of Morrowind due to its mild flavour and unique candy aroma. A soft sponge cake, which is sometimes soaked in comberry brandy, is layered with sweet marshmerrow crème patissiere, caramelised marshmerrow crumble, and maraschino comberries. Sure to knock some years off your age and put a couple more holes in your belt (it's impossible to stop at one slice. Source: me).
Imperials
There's nothing quite like homemade gnocchi with ragout for Imperials when it comes to comfort food. While this homey dish is prevalent across Cyrodiil, every household cooks the dish differently. In mine, my mother pan-fries the gnocchi in an obnoxious amount of butter, and tops it with her top-secret slow-cooked lamb and red wine ragout. While I cannot give away the secrets to her ragout, I highly recommend trying this delicious dish a try when you need to warm yourself, body and soul.
Khajiit
If you think you can turn away cinnamon and cardamom churros with a cup of moon sugar caramel dip, you're deluding yourself. This delicious treat can be found across Elsweyr and is considered one of the Province's most famous foods. Khajiiti churros, which are made from a mix of rice and tapioca flour, have a moist and chewy texture beneath a crisp, golden brown outer layer. They're served hot from the wok, with a cup of moon sugar caramel syrup. A truly divine pairing!
Nords
Spätzle is something I've written about in the past, and it's one of the best things I know (ask any resident of Skyrim and they'd tell you the same). These chunky egg noodles may look unrefined compared to Khajiiti vermicelli, but make up for it when liberally doused in a creamy cheese sauce and topped with fried onions. I like spicing mine up, quite literally, with some chili powder I purchased at a Sentinel bazaar.
Orcs
Nothing screams comfort food (and mess) quite like a good old echatere sausage hot dog. The echatere sausage, rather akin to Blackwood chorizo in flavour, is grilled over hot coals and served in a sourdough bun, served Wrothgar style with a good amount of horseradish mayo, fried radish chips, caramelised onions, pickles, and crispy dried baby shrimp topping. I'd say you can't stop at just one, but it's a hefty meal you can eat with one hand!
Redguards
I have probably written about gulab jamun in the past, a delicious, albeit cloying dessert popular throughout Hammerfell. An iconic dish at festivals and parties, gulab jamun is prized by dessert-lovers for its velvety, syrupy texture. These fluffy balls of cardamom-scented cottage cheese are fried and soaked in a fragrant saffron and rose water syrup, and topped with crushed pistachios. So simple, so good, and so moreish. Just be sure to stop at three, because any more and the sugar rush will send you to Aetherius!

So I finally tried all the gntm collabo food I bought from Lawson 100 XD
1) Kagura-chan's TKG (tamakakegohan) onigiri
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Well, the filling tasted like egg and soy sauce (as expected XD) It had a weird bitter aftertaste tho. Was it the soy sauce that they used? I wonder if I ate an expired one...😵‍💫 I doubled checked.. the date was ok....
2) Okita's spicy onigiri
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I think it's torimeshi? It's spicy alright (I have a low spice tolerance tho XD)
3) Fried potato (sour cream)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
These fried potato boxes come with an illustration card (I got a Shinpachi!)
The potatoes were similar to Jagariko (or was it Jagabee? 🤔) Sour cream flavour was lacking tho.. 🥲 huhu
4) Shinpachi's glasses style bread
Tumblr media Tumblr media
well, it was just 2 choco donuts stuck together. Nothing really special (I love donuts tho XD)
5) Uji Gintoki-style ohagi
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Deconstructed version of ohagi (botamochi)
Actually this is the first time I've tried ohagi... And I was pleasantly surprised with it, considering I am not a huge fan of azuki (sorry Ginchan huhu). The texture of the rice cake itself was similar to rice cakes in my home country which I totally miss eating huhu.... Out of all the 5 food collabo I've tried, this turned out to be my fave.. I didn't expect to like it as much. maybe because it reminded me so much of home? 🥲🥲🥲 (Note to self: you must not get homesick!!!)
(btw, my least fave ones were the onigiri huhu sorry my beloved okikagu)
Anyways, I'm going out again tomorrow to hunt for the Hiji and Eli bread XD

A really memorable fancy meal: the tofu course at a Kyoto specialty restaurant! Everything was delicious and I loved all the little ceramics. Also, because of pandemic (fall 2020), they seated us in a private room deep, deep in the bowels of their labyrinthine basement—I got lost two or three different ways on my way back from the bathroom and by the time I finally found our table, I had contracted an uncontrollable fit of the giggles that lasted the rest of the night.
For hotpot, we chose yudofu, which is a simple Kyoto specialty of tofu cooked in kombu dashi (but a very sophisticated version)! The maguro was the first time I'd had tofu-yam sauce on sashimi. I also loved the two dumplings: a juicy tofu shumai (one of their specialties) and a lotus root manju, crispy on the outside and gooey on the inside.
The long skinny plate had fried yuba tofu skin (one of my favorite things) and two types of tofu dengaku. The adorable fan-shaped bowl was a gooey cheesy tofu gratin, and then they brought us rice and clear soup with yuba to finish, plus dessert: soymilk ice cream with brown sugar syrup and a bit of azuki bean "tofu." It was a really special experience, definitely recommended!

it's the scarlet sands au! ritsu lives in this au dw (primrose is a miracle worker)
“Ritsu, please! Don’t go!”
Mikka sobbed. It was one of the only times Ritsu had ever seen her cry. It hurt him, seeing his sister so distraught.
He pulled her close, burying his nose in her hair. She smelled like rice balls and azuki porridge. “I’ll be back,” he promised. “I’ll be back, and we can have your favourite dinner.”
“...Please come back soon, Susu...” Mikka murmured, pulling away and drying her eyes on the sleeve of her dress. Ritsu ruffled her hair. He would come back. For his sister.
“OUT OF MY WAY, RITSU!” Hikari shouted, clashing swords with the soldier yet again. Primrose bounced from foot to foot, ready to launch into battle when the time came.
Ritsu bellowed in rage, landing a solid hit on Hikari’s chest with the hilt of his sword. The prince stumbled backwards, and Primrose blocked Ritsu’s blade with her knife.
“Think of your sister, Ritsu! Would you really want to leave her alone in this world? In this war, with no comfort or support left!? If you won’t give up for your sake, give up for hers!”
Her voice broke as she fought back tears, trying to spot an opening in Ritsu’s defenses. Nothing.
Ritsu, who had been pushing down against Primrose’s blade, wavered. His sword hesitated.
Primrose landed a hit on his hand with the handle of her dagger, and he relinquished his hold on his weapon entirely.
“...I can’t... No, I- I must keep fighting. King Mugen will have my head if I don’t...” He murmured, voice quivering.
Primrose offered a hand. “Join our side. Aid our cause, and we will do our best to protect you and Mikka from any harm after this war is over. Please, Ritsu. ...Are we not friends? Are we not siblings in our rights? We have shed blood together, fought together... We were allies, once upon a time. We can go back to that. It doesn’t have to end like this. ...Please, Ritsu. Don’t let your story end with blood.”
Do not let the blood taint your hands as it did mine.
Ritsu paused, but only for a moment. He grabbed Primrose’s hand, and pulled her into a hug. “...I’m so sorry...” He sobbed.
Hikari joined the hug, albeit nervously. Perhaps he, too, was aware of how little time they had for such frivolities.
“All is forgiven, Ritsu. Now, let us fight with honour!” Hikari declared, and the other two shouted in assent, charging into the throne room to reclaim what was rightfully theirs.
They all had their motives for fighting.
Hikari, for freedom and liberation.
Primrose, for happiness and peace.
Ritsu, for Mikka.
AAAAAAWAWWAWWAWAAGHHHGHFH!??????!?

Adzuki beans and chocolate: Japanese confectionery vs Western confectionery (Essay)
Tumblr media
Daifuku-Mochi(Big happy rice cake) with Adzuki beans
Azuki beans(red beans) are indispensable as an ingredient in Japanese sweets. "An(paste)" made from this material is the most important ingredient in various Japanese sweets. On the other hand, chocolate is used in important parts of Western sweets. It is a showdown between the king of Japanese confectionery and the king of Western confectionery. Now let's compare the nutritional value of the two.
"Azuki beans first."
Red bean products are low in calories
rich in dietary fiber

B vitamins and minerals
Among minerals, it is rich in iron and potassium. Iron is the main component of hemoglobin in red blood cells, and lack of iron prevents oxygen from reaching the extremities sufficiently, resulting in anemia. Even compared to spinach, which is known for its high iron content, one daifuku can provide more than twice as much iron as one serving of boiled rice. The best way to prevent high blood pressure is to refrain from salt intake, but it is also important to take a lot of potassium and balance it with sodium. Bananas are representative of foods rich in potassium, but adzuki beans contain four times that amount, and even after boiling, they have more potassium than bananas.
good amino acid balance

Strongest Antioxidant Activity - Red Bean Polyphenols
Reactive oxygen is said to be a factor in lifestyle-related diseases, aging, and diseases such as cancer. Adzuki beans contain nearly twice as much polyphenol as red wine, a component that removes this active oxygen. Adzuki beans have a particularly high polyphenol content among legumes, and Hokkaido-produced adzuki beans have higher polyphenol content than imported adzuki beans, and among Hokkaido-produced adzuki beans, normal azuki beans have higher activity than Dainagon.
It's pretty good. Then chocolate.
What ingredients are in chocolate? "Here are the ingredients that are good for your health."
@Polyphenol
Cocoa, which is the raw material of chocolate, contains plenty of polyphenols.
@Theobromine (meaning God-given)
Stimulates the brain to improve concentration, memory, and thinking power. There is also an action to adjust the autonomic nerve, so you can also expect a relaxing effect. This is why eating chocolate makes you feel relieved when you are tired.
@ Glucose
@oleic acid
@GABA
Cava, whose official name is γ (gamma)-aminobutyric acid, exists widely in the bodies of animals and plants, and is also included in cacao, the raw material of chocolate. It is a neurotransmitter that exists in the human brain and is a type of amino acid that is said to help with relaxation.
@Vitamins and minerals
It's also pretty good. There are many things in common, such as high mineral content and excellent polyphenol content, but in the overall evaluation, chocolate seems to have a slight advantage. But I think adzuki bean is also an excellent food. Adzuki beans also contain vitamins such as vitamin E, vitamin K, niacin, and folic acid.
Word of the day: Depending on how you look at it, sweets can also be an excellent medicinal dish. It is said that during WW2, the US military gave fighter pilots chocolate, and the Japanese military gave them yokan to prevent brain fatigue.
