A Dream SMP character analysis.
[I know it’s been over for like awhile, and I don’t really watch it anymore, but I found where I typed this out and thought this would be good thing to post on here!]
Character Type:Antagonist
Why I think trauma is very important to make a compelling Antagonist.
And why Awesamdude is a good DSMP Antagonist.
Analysis under the Cut
Trauma is one of the things that makes a great antagonist.
The build up and making SENSE of why the way they are.
And it’s easier to do that in DSMP because we follow most of the characters in there own little POVS.
Even the so called “villains”
For example Wilbur and Quackity are one two favorite arcs that make them antagonist.
Like I love Techno,Dream, and Jshlatt as antagonist but we just didn’t have the same build up as Wilbur and Quackity.
Because how much people watch them and we could understand why.
For example: Techno joined Pogtopia and then Tubbo was put up for President and he was got upset mostly because anarchy
Yes he felt betrayed because he kept telling people that he didn’t like government but it didn’t have the same feel.
Dream we don’t see his POV or his morals all we know (at least I know) is he wants power and that’s it and that could have been a lie…
Jshlatt….he kinda just shows up I guess it was because he was banned but that wasn’t mentioned.
Now here’s an example of a really good antagonist build up Awesamdude (HERE ME OUT!)
Ok so in beginning Dsmp Sam has been here for awhile longer than Tommy or Tubbo and he was always really sweet and optimistic
This was when the Dsmp wasn’t full of TRAMA but y’know…
Even during all the wars he was still sweet giving people gifts and tons of pumpkin pie.
Then the EGG happened at this point he might of already been asked by Dream to build the prison who knows
But the EGG freaked him out he didn’t like it at all and wanted to stop it at all cost.
Especially when he could see what it was doing to his friends more specifically Ponk
Him and Ponk where really close and great friends but he joined the EGG a thing Sam thought was bad
So more reason to dislike it then he found out they tried to put Tommy and Tubbo up for an egg sacrifice
He got real upset already feeling really bad for Tommy and all the stuff he’s gone though at such a young age.
So that made him dislike the EGG even more and even more scared for his friends.
Then he was put in the EGG and almost turned he was in there for at least a day so that had to be traumatizing.
Then he met a Hannah and showed her around and a few days later she had joined the EGG without his knowledge.
Then the Red banquet happened and he found out all of his friends betrayed him again like Ponk wasn’t trying to get help.
And he found out Hannah ratted him out and he saw one friend almost die and another one did.
After that the prison happened and he was the warden and that’s when things really went down hill.
It started off ok but then him being the warden became his life and time and dedication he didn’t have time for the things he loved.
He was so paranoid he chopped Ponks arm off for stealing a warden book that COULDN’T BE USED ANYMORE
He killed him canonically, then tortured him, and lastly chopped his arms off (Now I think that was terrible and he shouldn’t of done it but that doesn’t mean I don’t understand ✨why✨ he thought Ponk was a threat one because of the EGG and two his paranoia)
Then Tommy got stuck and died that took a BIG toll of him, he blamed himself for not finding a way to get Tommy out. Then Tommy came back and resented Sam he was so angry with him and it made him feel worse (Tommy being angry was completely understandable but still)
Then Quackity was like “let’s kill Dream” (I’m not going in depth of why this works for Quackity as an antagonist because this is already really long and Quackity is longer) He refused because Tommy wanted Dream to stay in the prison and he wanted to atleast keep his wishes
So they agreed to torture instead he knew it was wrong but he also felt it was deserved it because of what he did to Tommy.
So that kept up for awhile then ghostbur and totally just ghostbur went to go see Dream.
Then he found out Tommy was there he told to not go into the cell, and Ghostbur was already on the other side and he kept saying, if Tommy went over there then Dream was gonna find a way to get out. To keep with Tommy wishes he hurt Tommy in the process and Ghostbur died he didn’t feel as bad of at all because one he thought he wasn’t actually dead, and two he felt it was right.
Then he put Techno in prison because Quackity asked and he felt Techno was a threat to getting Dream out. That’s backed fired Techno got out and for a few seconds he thought Dream did as we’ll. Then while Quackity was gone he got manipulated by Dream that if he told Quackity that he was still here then he would die and that’s not what Sam wanted he wanted to keep Dream in prison because that’s what Tommy wanted.
Then a day before the break out he put Ranboo in prison no one right now knows why…Sam just said it was for the best…
People guess it’s because something Ranboo did in his enderwalk state. So then the breakout happened and his last ditch effort to keep Dream in there was to grab Ranboo and threaten to kill him if Dream didn’t come back that plained failed and Ranboo died (IT WAS DUMB IDEA AND IM REAL ANGRY ABOUT IT BUT I UNDERSTAND WHY) Dream got out, and Sam went to wallow in his own self pity at this point he already had Micheal.
Ok so at this point Sam already had Michael in his possession because of Eret say he could keep him safe. (Because at this point I think Sam had a savior complex) then Tubbo, Techno, and Eret found him and his fear of death was show full force (he also killed his horse which I know was for a bit but still) they threatened to kill Sam if he didn’t show them where Michael was, they where going to kill him/Tubbo because he had every right. Sam agreed because he was obviously terrified of death so he agreed and then he got sent to prison (which I think was absolutely ironic but whatever) he knew that they weren’t gonna have access to the prison or be able to get out but that was dumb because they had TNT.
He relished in the idea they couldn’t have the prison because that’s the only thing he had left.
He was in prison for awhile then Dream showed up and the rolls where reversed (which I think the way Dream keep making fun of Sam was absolutely hilarious but that doesn’t matter) at this point he was slowly losing it Dream started telling him he was a terrible person and he was a villain he had to write in those books to keep his sanity.
One day he convinced Dream to let him out under conditions obviously (which I kinda wish didn’t happen so fast because I was enjoying that but whatever) If he let Sam out he could have access to the prison and Sam wouldn’t tell anybody. Before he left…Dream said he was gonna kill him for y‘ know letting him be tortured.
The one thing Sam asked of Dream was to not kill him because Sam had a BIG fear of death he did anyway gave him the same scar Quackity has and that’s the last we heard of him.
So my point in all of this is Trauma is very important to understand why a character is the way they are I would go on a full tyrant of all Tubbo’s Trauma and why him being an antagonist is the best thing in the world but…we be here all day.
I’ve always wanted to write a whole thing of Tommy or Tubbo and all there trauma to show people why I feel you should be more sympathetic to these characters (AND NOT TO DREAM! As you can see I’m not a big fan of Canon Dream) this also prove for a Minecraft role play the DSMP has some really good writing and I think people don’t understand that who don’t watch it.
So um…sorry about that whole thing that took longer than I thought but…whatever I got my point across so anyway.
I hope you have a great day afternoon or night
[If anyones sees this, and read threw the whole thing….would ya like to see another DSMP character analysis?
If so, which character?]

Note
prepare for a long ask (i’m sorry)
my brain is very full so hear me out-
dream smp casino/mafia au-
now i was at first thinking Kinoko kingdom (karlnapity) are the owners of the casino cause yk Las Nevadas Quackity but then i remembered “Syndicate” (by Derivakat) which has a jazzy vibe and was like, what if the Syndicate was a mafia ‘family’ that ran a casino and reader is their star performer who starts off every night with a performance of “Syndicate”. reader’s performance is used to kinda establish the Syndicate’s power over the casino and to remind the patrons anything they do will be under the scrutiny of a mafia with literally two of the most renowned mafiosos’ (Philza whose reputation of traveling all over and taking down many a mafia family precedes him and Technoblade who has taken down mafia families singlehandedly) in the city, maybe even the entire country.
the Eggpire is like a rival mafia that is trying to take control over the city so it isn’t uncommon for them to try and infiltrate the Syndicate casino. so i was thinking, what if the people who are Pro-Omlette (but not in the Syndicate so Puffy, Foolish (since it’s not confirmed he’s part of the Syndicate), Awesamdude and Eret) are staff at the casino. they were each like a lone agent after their mafia family split up/they left and decided to join forces with the Syndicate to make sure the Eggpire didn’t gain total control of the city. Maybe Sam is a bodyguard stationed either outside the casino or manning security cameras switching with Puffy, Eret can be like a stage manager/backstage to aid the performers and make sure no one sneaks into the dressing rooms or the light control area backstage and Foolish is like a bartender keeping an eye out on the main floor of the casino for any activity.
Dream was the former head of the well-renowned Dream Team mafia family until the family split. he’s notorious for breaking apart mafia families before disappearing into the night and traveling to a new city. occasionally he’ll hire some aid but they never last long.
Ponk used to be an on-sight medic for the casino in cause of bar fights or performers getting injured on stage but after many rumors (later confirmed to be true) of him being a member of the Eggpire he was fired and not allowed to enter the premise of the casino again.
Kinoko Kingdom was a rival casino/mafia family to the Syndicate’s but they’ve decided to have a truce to make sure Dream and/or the Eggppire don’t take over their city. Their casinos have different vibes with the Syndicate’s being more of a hub for mafia and business activity with jazzy music on the constant and famous for civilized and tame yet very entertaining entertainment whilst Kinoko’s casino is like more of a rowdy type casino, famous for high stake bets, drinks with high alcohol content and lively music and entertainment that can be seen as a bit too glitzy and tacky. Like you go to Syndicate casino for a night of business deals and building yourself up to the top, the type of casino you would bring your boss to, whilst the Kinoko casino is the type of casino you go to let loss and risk it all with cheap entertainment and even cheaper booze. their truce works out because their casinos are so different that competition wouldn’t be worth the cash (and the Syndicate knows they can easily take on the Kinoko mafia in a fight but shhhh)
there’s multiple places a reader character could fight but as a primarily Technoblade simp at heart i had to put reader as a performer in the Syndicate casino-
~🦫Anon (if this title isn’t already taken-)
𝕋𝕙𝕖 𝕊𝕪𝕟𝕕𝕚𝕔𝕒𝕥𝕖
DSMP x Reader (in-game)
Summary: Request
Warnings: None?
A/N: Okay… I have a few important things to say. First of all, this story is not completed. This request is so genuinely good and I have been trying to work on it for far too long and have had very little success. With that being said I still want to publish the small bit of this story that I’m proud of.
Second of all, I would like any other dsmp writers on this platform to feel free to take this request and perhaps do with it what I wasn’t able to. If you write this story, please tag me because I’d love to see what you do with it. You can also use this bit I have written and am sharing to start off your own version of the story (just give proper credit)!
With all of that out of the way, please enjoy!
The Syndicate. One of the highest-end casinos in the country, and certainly the most powerful, being run by two of the best-known mafiosos.
Philza was best known for his travel, being able to track down anyone anywhere and take care of them.
Technoblade was easily the scariest man you could meet. He’d single-handedly taken down more mafia families at the age of 21 than most senior-aged mafiosos could even dream of.
It was rare to see either of the men in the casino, let alone to see them together, so when the pair came through the doors with power in their steps everyone knew something serious was in order.
They took their seats at the bar as Foolish prepared their drinks and Eret directed the casino's attention to the stage.
This performance was a nightly occurrence, the same jazzy tune came from the band's instruments as Y/N emerged from the curtain.
Hey, I'll tell you a little secret of mine
If you promise not to tell, if you have the time
Everyone has gotten you, always on the run
But if you join the Syndicate
Life could get a little more fun
It was the song of the casino, used to remind everyone just how much power it holds.
When all of the horses and all of the men
Won't learn from history, it's all the same in the end
I've told you once and I'll tell you again
The Syndicate is looking for a couple new friends
It reminds the patrons of the casino that no matter what they do, the Syndicate is always watching, studying each of them in hopes of finding some new friends.
Fight for freedom, fight to end the pain
Hey, this is serious, it's not just some little game
'Cause the anarchy's part of me, tyranny bothers me
End it all properly once and for all
They call us the villains 'cause they know we'll take the fall
The members of the Syndicate were a force to be reckoned with, composed of strong fighters and quick thinkers constantly working to take down anyone that dare stand in their way.
The Eggpire was their current concern. Run by a man named BadBoyHalo, the Eggpire was a whole other breed of mafiosos.
They preached about the Egg, whatever the hell that was supposed to be, and always wore a signature red color that made them easy to spot. Sometimes you could even swear there was a red glint in their eyes when talking about it.
After the incident with Ponk, their old medic that got caught up in the red whirlwind, the Syndicate became extra wary of the Eggpire, willing to do just about anything to take them down.
This is exactly why the two most powerful men were sitting together at the Syndicate’s bar with their eyes locked on the stage.
Fight for freedom, fight to end the pain
Hey, this is serious, it's not just some little game
'Cause the anarchy's part of me, tyranny bothers me
End it all properly once and for all
They call us the villains 'cause they know we'll take the fall
When all of the horses and all of the men
Won't learn from history, it's all the same in the end
I've told you once and I'll tell you again
The Syndicate is looking for a couple new friends
Oh, a couple new friends
Oh, oh, oh, oh
Oh no, no
You'll gain a couple new friends
As the jazzy instrumentals faded out, Eret poked his head out of the curtain on the side of the stage, gesturing for the resident singer to come backstage.
Y/N smiled at the audience and walked through the velvet barrier to be greeted by the deep-voiced brunette.
“Did you see who’s out there tonight?” They asked him.
“That's why I called you, they wanna see you.”
Y/N took a deep breath and headed out onto the main floor.
They’d been part of the Syndicate for most of their life and knew they weren’t in any danger near Techno and Phil, but the anxiety still pounded in their head as they approached the men.
Y/N sat on the stool next to Technoblade and the two turned their stools to face them.
“Lovely performance!” Phil praised
They shot him a kind smile and braced themself for the inevitable harsh news that would follow the attempted small talk.
“We need you to do something.” Techno said bluntly. “You know Las Nevadas?”
“Yeah, of course.”
It was another casino ran by Kinoko Kingdom, another mafia family. They used to be considered one of the biggest threats to the Syndicate because they had quite literally appeared overnight and nobody knew anything. Once the Eggpire popped up though, it was safest to become fast friends with the three men that ran Las Nevadas in hopes of strengthening their forces against the red abomination infecting families all over.
“We had a meeting with Quackity and he’s got a bad feeling about some guests that have been stopping by their area. It’s a shitty casino, we all know that, but he thinks it’s more than just some random troublemakers.”

I’ve been working on a Dream SMP Pokémon AU :D
This is pretty lengthy it’s all under the cut.
Okay apologizing now for spelling mistakes. I didn’t have my Pokédex on me alright.
This AU takes place in Galar, but the starting Town is named L’Manburg. And also Circhester is Snowchester
Tommy is The main character you play as. (So when I say you, I mean Tommy. But when I say Tommy I also mean you y’know). He chose a fire type starter, a Scorbunny he nicknamed Cat. He also has a Zigzagoon named Mellohi, a shiny Venomoth named Clemintine, Joltik named Shroud, and a Tauros named Henry! He loves his Pokémon a lot, and makes sure to nickname them.
Tubbo is the rival/best friend! He chose the grass starter, Grookey. He has a voltorb, Deerling, a Spoink he shares custody of with Ranboo named Micheal, a Wheezing, and miraculously, Xurkitree. He refuses to say where he got it.
Ranboo is the ghost gym leader who Tubbo convinces to come with him and Tommy, and get the water stater Sobble despite hating all water types. Also has a backstory with Team Dream, but doesn’t know much due to memory loss! He also seems to have a skin condition causing his skin and hair to become dual coloured. His team consists of Alolan Marrowhack, Lampent, Banette and Yamask!
Dream is the leader of Team Dream, a diabolical team that steals Pokémon! SapNap (fire-type leader) and Gogy (bug-type leader who of which only has Pokémon with the “sleep spore” move) two of the higher-level leaders, think it’s all for the fun of it and for the better of the region but Dream actually has them steal for power!
Tommy and Tubbo go and defeat Dream to retrieve Tommy’s partner Pokémon Mellohi and Cat. The odd thing about Dream is insists on fighting Pokémon himself, sans Pokémon. Rumor says his partner pokemon abandoned him.
Puffy is the fairy-type gym leader! She uses a repurposed water-type gym, so her gym challenge and stuff is all pirate themed. She helps the hero’s periodically throughout their journey! Also Watch out for her Jigglypuff, it knows Sing!
Technoblade is the current champion is the region, and Tommy’s big brother! He uses seemingly only Emboar to win every battle. Technoblade never dies!
He ends up helping Team Dream during the finale, being one of the bosses you have to defeat (he was peer pressured okay!). It is also revealed during that fight he’s where Tubbo got Xurkitree!
There’s also Wilbur, who is Technoblade’s twin brother and Tommy’s big brother, who failed at defeating all the gym challenges and ran away. He started helping the hero’s many times throughout their journey until he moved ahead of them in the gym challenges (The bench trio had plot stuff to attend to). He made a bet with Philza, the flying type gym leader and his dad, that if he lost he wouldn’t try at being champion again for 6 months. He lost. Nobody knows where he ran off to, but when he comes back with Dream (and on his side too) it’s pretty clear his mental health didn’t fair well. He used to have a partner Pokémon, a Nickett named Fundy, but he abandoned him fairly early on in his journey. He comes back to defeat Ghostbur when Dream makes him fight you during the finale! Also Wilbur has a Drillbur and a Timburr simply because I think it’s funny.
There’s Philza Minecraft, the flying-type gym leader and Tommy’s dad. He is the last leader you face before the bracket. His partner Pokémon Corviknight likes to perch on his back and make it look like Phil has wings. Tommy is two Pokémon down during this battle (it’s when Dream has possession of Cat and Mellohi), but he still wins! Tommy thinks that Phil let him win so he doesn’t pull a Wilbur and run off to be a villain.
The regions scientist is actually two people, Sam Awesome, who’s name tag jokingly says AweSamdude, is kinda the R&D part of the lab. He made a little robot furret named Sam Nook that essentially acts like Navi the whole time, bothering Tommy with unhelpful info. Sometimes helpful tho. The other one is Dr. Opsby Ponk, just called Ponk, who gave the Bench Trio their starters! But don’t go to her for medical advice, he’ll just feed your Pokémon lemons. They they grew them herself tho!
There’s also Team Egg. A Team of trainers who’s been mind controlled by a Pokémon egg! The egg won’t hatch, it has vines, is psychic, and no scientist can get even a little bit close without being possessed themselves. The leader of this team is a man who only goes by the alias BadBoyHalo, the dark-type gym leader. During his gym challenge is when you find out about Team Egg. All his Pokémon gained the typing of psychic after being possessed. His second in command is a man by the Alias of AntFrost, a cat-like Pokémon only user, and during the after-game Both Sam and Ponk were effected by the egg trying to study it. And the most bizzarre edition to the Team Egg crew is a man with diamond skin named Skeppy. You meet these misfits periodically throughout your journey, but never really fight them until you defeat Dream.
During the big fight finale, it is revealed that Dream has been conducting experiments to create the ultimate Pokémon-human hybrid. He experimented on Ranboo, the first test on the kid ghost gym leader, and that’s why he has no memory and has black-white skin. His other tests where the Pokémon egg (where it’s revealed a man named Velvet is inside it!) Charlie and Skeppy. And the big big reveal is that he experimented on Wilbur too! He was the only success, being both human and now ghost type! (Nicknamed Ghostbur by Dream)
Dream succeeds in turning himself half-Pokémon during the finale with a big fancy cutscene, but then Tommy gets Cat and Mellohi back along with he and Tubbo getting Zamazenta and Zacian (this still takes place in Galar lol) so he’s defeated! (Tubbo is the one who gets the final hit!!)
Unfortunately, Team Egg is not defeated along with Dream so it’s kinda the after story. After the finale is also when Tommy defeats Technoblade on in the official match and becomes the new Champion! Tubbo loses to Tommy and Techno, but is still happy he even got to try and that his best friends are happy!
There’s also Quackity, the leader of an underground fighting ring. Very illegal but very fancy, but no-one goes there. There’s always a battle but no trainers or spectators! He has one of the failed Pokémon-human experiments named Charlie, a human-Dodosion hybrid.
SapNap is also the Fire-type gym leader, but was also on Team Dream. He left the moment he found out Dream experimented on people, and took Gogy (the big type leader) with him, which ultimately made Dream snap finally make himself half Pokémon. Gogy fell asleep during your gym challenge.
Niki runs a little bakery for Pokémon, and is somehow in every location all at once. Don’t ask her how. The original location is in the same town as Puffy’s gym.
Eret is the curator of the museum, a plot revelant location and she kinda makes you solve a bunch of riddles and tests before he gives you the information you ask for. They show up in the end too, waving a giant pride flag to try and give Tommy’s side some gay protection.
Foolish is a talking Pokémon himself, and takes place of Calyrex. He’s a totem, and your goal in the DLC is the same as Calyrex but you run around a desert. I still haven’t completed the DLC but I wanted to include foolish don’t @ me.
Purpled is one of the trainers you battle in the bracket and kinda takes place of Bede but not a jerk, and is the closest Tommy gets to losing other than to Techno and Tubbo.
Both he and Foolish join Las Nevadas in the DLC. (Oh yeah, Las Nevadas the underground fighting ring is explored more in the DLC.) ((Btw When I say DLC btw I really mean like, Tommy can start it at any point but can also wait until after all the story and after story. The second one is what I assume they did because that’s just how I played Sw/Sh but it’s up to interpretation))
Jack Manifold is another gym challenger, a steel-type user. He’s from the same town as Tubbo, Snowchester! He streams all his Pokémon battles, and is the one who encouraged Tommy to do the same.

Oh honestly, I was shell shocked watching the argument because it genuinely seemed so real? And like damn- I’m surprised Quackity didn’t break down because I was terrified- I’m glad Quackity is getting the recognition he deserves though and now he’s joined Pogtopia, he can really make some changes(hopefully)-I mean sure, he gives some comic relief but he really is such a deep character if you really look at him- I’ve liked him for a while but damn, that was just- wow- I think an interesting thing about the whole dream smp is that like the first war was this Hamilton esque thing with y’know Wilbur vs Dream! And then after that, the dream team just sorta dipped y’know? I mean we got George whos kinda got a backseat with Quackity, then we’ve got Sapnap who I will admit I don’t know too much about what’s going on with him- and then we’ve got Dream who’s seemingly with Wilbur in all this and y’know getting L’Manburg back- I just think it’s quite interesting how the tables have turned really-
Same! If I were in Quackity’s shoes and Schlatt were yelling at me like that I would’ve broke down, acting or not! They both did such an amazing job selling it, and bringing the argument to life. Really made their whole relationship leading up to it, and Quackity’s leaving much more realistic and emotional.
I honestly miss seeing the Dream Team together, I mean none of them are super active on the server anymore, and I even miss their interactions with others on the server like Tommy and Tubbo. But, I also like how they’ve kind of made way for the new villain. Them being less active takes away from their past role as villain. Dream has a reason to be siding with Tommy and Will, but the other two were just accomplices during the first war.
Part of me hopes a huge war will break out (despite Schlatt not really having an army) and Sapnap and George will make their own dramatic comeback. I mean, imagine: the entirety of the Dream Team, L’Manberg, and then all the stragglers like Skeppy, BadBoyHalo, AntFrost, Awesamdude, etc etc, coming back and just kicking some ass! It would be fucking awesome, and really bring everything full circle. Maybe the Dream Team won’t be on the same side as L’Manberg afterward, but at least they’ll resemble something like allies. Sort of like their relationship right after the first war.
I also think it would be really cool is somehow Alyssa came into play with all of this. I know she was never really apart of the roleplaying, and mainly just hung around the server for fun, but I think it would be really cool if she got involved. I mean, imagine her and Niki together, they would be a fucking power house! This thoughts a bit of a stretch, but still something I think would be really cool and add a lot of depth to the plot, and tie everything together from both pre-disc war, the disc war, post-disc war, and now Schlatt’s rule.
All in all, I’d love to see the Dream Team make a dramatic comeback. And, we don’t really know anything about George’s standing with Schlatt, so that could also cause some drama, especially if George were to side with Schlatt. That would cause beef between the Dream Team, and urge Sapnap and Dream to play more active roles, despite them not really being a major part of the story anymore.
Every character, no matter how big or small their role was, is important to the story. I mean, look at Schlatt! He was on the server for barely a day, got banned, and now he’s back and fucking shit up! Who’s to say other people won’t be rising from the ashes of the past to fuck more shit up?
There’s endless possibilities!

i tried to figure out the enneagram types of dream smp characters
have you ever wanted to know the enneagram types, and therefore motivations and fears, of your favorite dream smp characters? that’s a rhetorical question. don’t answer. this post contains a quick explanation of the enneagram and an analysis for every included character. i’m just gonna put it all under the cut.
i’d absolutely love to hear your thoughts!
ENNEAGRAM EXPLANATION
a quick low-down on the enneagram, for those who don’t know:
the enneagram actually refers to a funky circular graph, numbers 1-9 on the outside that depict 9 different personality types. each type is adjacent to two other types around the circle (see image for clarification). the two types on either side are the possible wings for that specific type, a wing being an additional set of personality traits alongside the main personality type. an enneagram type is written as [type]w[wing]. for example, my enneagram type is 4, and i have a type 5 wing, so my enneagram type is 4w5.
Tumblr media
(the lines through the inside of the enneagram won’t be mentioned in this post, but you can find more information on them online if you’re curious. i won’t link anything because links can be sketchy)
the nine enneagram types are mostly easily explained by their basic fears and basic desires. the enneagram is intended to explain the “why” behind someone’s actions, which is why it’s so hard to type someone else. you cannot get inside their head to find out their true motivations. however, today i am working with entirely fictional characters and not the content creators themselves, so i give myself a free pass. please don’t go around psychoanalyzing your friends or people you don’t even know and jumping to conclusions without their input lol
also all of these are just what i think ! if you (respectfully) disagree, i would actually love to hear your opinions - you are probably right and i am probably wrong.i don’t watch every stream or even know of every event, and my reasoning is probably weak at best. enough rambling, here we goooo
the grouping will be by type, just because… idk how else to organize this.
again, /rp /rp /rp ! i don’t know these ccs in real life and will not pretend to. i’m talking about minecraft roleplay.
(also, i didn’t proofread this. sorry fnjakdfda)
type 1: the reformer
principled, purposeful, self-controlled, perfectionistic
desire: to be good, to have integrity
tubbo - type 1w2
tubbo is a classic example of a type 1 being put into the worst possible situation for their current mental state. tubbo was the moral and sensical anchor for tommy’s more eccentric and self-centered actions, and they functioned as this duo UNTIL tubbo was made the president of l’manberg. tubbo’s more self-critical tendencies were amplified because his actions had so much weight. tubbo is quick to turn against and polarize those he sees as “evil”, making broad generalizations like “technoblade is wrong” and “tommy is good”, regardless of all the moral gray areas, and even changes his mind drastically between them as he seeks the right answer. (ex: exiles tommy, but then decides it was the wrong idea, and now seems to agree with everything he says again.) i think part of his flip-flopping comes from a sense of people-pleasing and generosity, again amplified by his position as the (now former) president of a nation.
type 2: the helper
generous, demonstrative, people-pleasing, possessive
desire: to feel loved/appreciated
quackity - type 2w3
(as far as i know) quackity’s first major action on the smp was to run for president. wilbur and tommy wanted quackity (as part of swag 2020) to share the votes of the two parties in order to ensure a victory over schlatt. however, quackity acted out against them because he felt used instead of appreciated for his ideas. schlatt promised him at least some amount of respect, so quackity switched sides regardless of what was better for the smp at large. i believe quackity kept looking for approval from others, but also some sense of accomplishment, by founding mexican l’manberg (is this even canon…idk but i liked it), starting the butcher army, and trying to bring schlatt back to life. quackity even fought technoblade despite being grossly unqualified and i believe this is due to the martyr mindset that often comes with unhealthy type 2s.
type 3: the achiever
adaptable, excelling, driven, image-conscious
desire: to feel valuable
nihachu - type 3w2
(at the time of writing this, niki hasn’t had a ton of canon screentime, so this is mostly based off of the doomsday stream.) when in emotional distress, niki applies her type 3 ideas of being the best she can be to others, hyperfocusing on “teaching them a lesson” by destroying l’manberg. unhealthy 3s also tend to become jealous of other people’s happiness and success to the point they attempt to destroy it, perhaps explaining how niki’s character felt that no one wanted to listen to what she had to say about the political state of things. i see niki as a character that values her image in relation to others, hence the 2 wing. when fundy showed her respect, she became even more sure of herself, and this seems to be the kind of thing she is after.
schlatt - type 3w4
much like ghostbur (as mentioned later), schlatt is a very exaggerated character. it’s hard to type him, because the enneagram focuses around people who behave in the way real people do, and schlatt is a larger-than-life villain. i’ve typed schlatt as a 3 because of his narcissistic tendencies. schlatt not only wanted to be but believed he was integral to l’manberg’s continued function. unhealthy 3s tend to be devious and manipulative in order to hide their own wrongdoing, like how schlatt exiled the main opponents of his rule. schlatt doesn’t have the emotional introspection of a 4, only the temperamental self-absorption, but i think this is the best i can do lol
type 4: the individualist
expressive, dramatic, self-absorbed, temperamental
desire: to be significant, to find identity
tommy - type 4w5
most of my reasoning for tommy’s typing comes from his time in exile. tommy displayed an impressive connection to his emotions, maybe just out of necessity because he was alone. his constant cry was that no one cares about him, but not in the way a 2 may fear the same thing. tommy feared he had faded from significance. when he felt this way, he was quick to make rash conclusions and decisions. he is self-centered, caring more about his discs than about anything on the server. the 5 wing is there because of tommy’s constant assertion that people pity him when they show basic human kindness. he dreads others viewing him as incapable.
type 5: the investigator
perceptive, innovative, secretive, isolated
desire: to be capable and competent
awesamdude: type 5w6
is sam incredibly important to the plot? not as i write this. but i don’t want to leave type 5 empty. sam does cool redstone and built a cool prison. he’s super swag. i’m too lazy to attempt to do an analysis. this is just what i believe to be the objective truth on his character. give sam your primes.
type 6: the loyalist
engaging, responsible, anxious, suspicious
desire: to have security and support
wilbur (alivebur) - type 6w5
(pls disagree with me on this. this was so hard and i didn’t start watching dream smp until after the original “it wasn’t meant to be” moment sjkdfadkl) it’s right in the l’manberg national anthem. a place men could go to emancipate the brutality of their rulers. wilbur created l’manberg for what i interpret as security reasons. a peaceful land without americans. as an american, i understand completely. wilbur demonstrates the tendency of 6’s to shun outsiders and to turn to hysterical violence in times of distress. wilbur’s final action before his death was to blow up his safe place, because he believed the security had been tainted. i have typed wilbur with a 5 wing almost exclusively because of the intentionally radical beliefs that unhealthy 5s exhibit, becoming obsessed with blowing up the place he once called home.
type 7: the enthusiast
spontaneous, versatile, distractible, scattered
desire: to be satisfied and content, to avoid pain
fundy - type 7w6
fundy grew up in constant distress, what with his dad kinda losing it and the constant political turmoil. fundy has acknowledged that there is nothing that comes from conflict except for personal gain. fundy is selfish (taking netherite meant for everyone, hardly taking other people’s feelings into account) by nature of the society he was born into. like most distressed 7s, he has mood swings and comes off as demanding. i gave fundy a 6 wing because of what i see as the origin of his issues: a lack of support and stability. because of this, fundy often seeks external solutions (material possessions) instead of internal ones (fucking THERAPY OH MY GOD).
badboyhalo - type 7w6
“l’manberg? pogtopia? who cares?” :D
type 8: the challenger
self-confident, decisive, willful, confrontational
desire: to protect themselves, to be in control of their own life
dream - type 8w7
(warning, a lot of this typing is based on my own theories about the smp, because dream doesn’t stream rp to give us his own perspective.) dream claims that his motivation, at least presently, is to cause as much chaos as possible, but this has to come from a more philosophical place. dream is the one who started the server, and, i believe, canonically created the world they all populate. dream’s rule was originally questioned by the creation of l’manberg, which he interpreted as a personal attack. as a type 8 would, he is attempting to destroy all that does not conform to the vision he has for a peaceful, unified server. this may make it seem like dream should have 9 wing, but i don’t believe stability factors into his reasoning. dream seeks fun, for himself and others, and also finds this by causing chaos, as mentioned before.
technoblade - type 8w7
now, just because techno and dream have the same enneagram typing here does not mean they are at all similar. techno also lashes out at things that do not conform to his vision (anarchy) but has a stronger connection to his 7 wing. he wants to protect himself because of the comfort and happiness that would provide, not exclusively to be in control. he cares more about the pain and suffering caused by the government. still, i don’t think techno’s primary motivation is to be happy, as he still causes harm and puts himself in danger in order to achieve his goals. when a type 7 would become depressed and isolated, techno decides to spawn six withers. to each their own.
type 9: the peacemaker
receptive, reassuring, agreeable, complacent
desire: to have inner stability, to avoid loss
ghostbur - type 9w1
more than anyone on the server, ghostbur is a two-dimensional character. (absolutely not meant in a negative way. i adore ghostbur as both comic relief and a consistent character. ghostbur simply doesn’t behave like a normal person, and that is the point.) this makes it difficult to type him, but i tried my best. ultimately, ghostbur cares about others, but not in the way a 2 does. blatant negativity from people he interacts with doesn’t affect him in the slightest. he hands out blue because he is good, hence the 1 wing, and not to be loved. the only time (i can remember) that ghostbur has expressed anger was when friend the sheep was killed in techno and dream’s terrorism upon l’manberg. loss is the only thing he seems to be afraid of, and he applies this to all people within the smp.
philza - type 9w8
to put it nicely, philza is a mediator. to put it not-so nicely, he doesn’t give a fuck. philza has actually achieved much of the goals a 9 has, making him an anomaly on the smp. (most every one of these characters expresses extremely unhealthy characteristics of their type.) philza is accepting of others, and does more listening than speaking. however, philza still feels the effects of loss from murdering his own son in cold blood (just minecraft things <3) and presumably fears losing something else important to him, thus forming few attachments (ex: didn’t care his house in l’manberg got blown up, didn’t react much to tommy’s betrayal.) i typed him as a wing 8 because of his healthy self-confidence and confrontationalism.
please keep in mind that this is all referring to the dream smp characters these streamers portray. i don’t claim to know anything about their deeper philosophical reasoning for whatever they do irl. not really on that parasocial type beat, ya feel me? i would love to hear your thoughts.
 thanks for reading!
