While I enjoy the Southern Raiders tremendously as an episode, particularly loving the focus on Katara and her trauma, I always hated that at the core, it was essentially a fetchquest for Zuko to "gain Katara's allegiance."

Look, there's characters organically bonding over one character's trauma. That's not happening here. This is a clumsy attempt at tying up a loose end and continuing the pattern of Zuko's life changing fieldtrips with Sokka and Aang.

Aang and Sokka's "field trip destinatons" come up rather organically, for Aang it's the necessity of learning firebending and for Sokka, it was a very fresh, even current worry for his father's safety.

While Katara and Zuko's bonding (if you can even call it that, they don't really bond, just go on a murder road trip and barely speak lol) in Southern Raiders feels very... forced.

As much as I love the Southern Raiders, I think Zuko and Katara's relationship was done dirty in it. Their relationship is fascinating because they're very similar people, pushed apart by a ton of animosity and age old hurt.

And then all this is just resolved as if someone were checking a box off a list.

Essentially Zuko in the Southern Raiders episode is me in Skyrim playing through a fetch quest so I can unlock a follower lol

Also if we're being honest the episode kinda made Zuko super unlikeable with the whole "digging up a girls tragic backstory from her brother in order to use it to get her to like you" and the dismissive shitty comment about Aang's culture.

Another skyrim thing that's really funny in context is the fact that the quest to meet Aventus Arentino (Dark Brotherhood quest line) has been active in my journal for like a month of in-game time, and yet the Brotherhood is still gonna get mad at me about stealing their kill--

My first time joining the dark brotherhood in Skyrim was so silly.

Like, I didn't know how that mechanic worked.

I killed Grelod the Kind, got the plate from Aventus Arentino in Windhelm, and then NEVER SLEPT

I abandoned the game for about 6 months for some personal crap, come back, and love it all over again

I decide to keep playing where I left off I stead of making a new character

I play for aesthetics at this point because I had done pretty much all the main quest lines, so I decide to go to sleep in the Bannered Mare in Whiterun

I WAKE UP SO CONFUSED IN THE ABANDONED SHACK

I then play the story like normal (and obsess over an npc for the first time)

But I can just imagine Astrid walking in being all "Where is he?" Walking upstairs, hauling my "sleeps like a brick" ass downstairs and into a wagon being all like "he's really drunk and I'm taking him home, we're good friends"

And then HAULING ASS across Skyrim to get me in the abandoned shack.

It's just silly to think about XD

Ok so I was thinking of the quest where you assassinate the Emperor. Thinking that having a Cyrod Listener would be interesting.

Then I thought... The Imperial cult has some militant wings like the Order of the Hour and the Vigil of Stendarr. what if Cyrodiil saw a rise of insurgent priests of Talos after the white gold concordat.

Mr. CFG is one of those priests. His cell was flushed out and he fled to Skyrim where he thought to find sanctuary among the Stormcloaks. He carries an axe and doesn't say shit and kills with efficiency. Ulfric sees his value as an attack dog. His presence in windhelm eventually leads him to Aventus Arentino.

CFG, like any violent religious wackjob, believes Talos speaks through him. Aventus's plight was a sign. The lagging Sithis worship in the Falkreath sanctuary is a sign. And finally, the contract to kill the whole-ass emperor of Tamriel, the spawn of some pretender with not a drop of dragon blood in his veins...

I don't know that I'm actually going to write up the story but he is rattling around in my brain like an empty spray paint can.

Currently writing about a character coming up against Dragon Age demons for the first time, greatly enjoying that.

A character study about Michael the Distortion and also Helen.

Oh, and I am also writing about two characters discussing asexuality and relationships.

🛒 What are some common things you incorporate in your fics? Themes, feels, scenes, imagery, etc.

Trauma, grief and mentall illness is a cornerstone in anything I write. There are so many things to consider with it, and what it means for your life. Like was it always with you, or did you develop it? Was it a violation and what does it mean now going forward?

Furthermore I get a kick out of really obscure refrences in my work. Like I have referenced Koschei the Deathless, The Killers lyrics, Karen Sundt, Laika, Ivo Caprino jokes… it’s fun not only for me but to see the rare case where people make the connection. I get the enjoyment either way.

😅 What’s a story or scene you’ve created that you’re a smidge embarrassed exists?

Redbark No-Chief.

Let me explain. In the Kahvi comics, which are not considered mostly non-canon anyway, we saw a minor character be pronounced chief of Two-Spears splintergroup of Wolfriders. Redbark, said character, looked to be same age as Kahvi, and his design was similar to Graywolf, who had recognized Willowgreen II. So naturally I concluded that he was their child.

In the comic we had a big Flash forward, and was told that Willowgreen had cleaned out their wolfblood, and that every chief after Two-Spear’s descion had been left wanting.

I was very intruged and was trying to write about Redbark holding the legacy of his mother’s crime… but turns out it was incorrect. It was just a coincidence that he looked like the same age and design. Redbark was no one. Which I discovered bust as I was going to publish the third chapter.

It completely took the wind out of my sails. To loose that familiar connection between them made my story fall apart to the point where it never recovered.

So yeah. You live and learn.

📚 Would you ever want to turn writing into a career?

Writing books has always been my dream, but honestly, the last few years I have heard stories about how publishing really works and. It is really discouraging and confusing? It is putting me off writing proffesionally for the first time since I was six =/

Love it.

🎢 Which of your fics would you call your wildest ride?

Oh, hmm. I am actually uncertain of how to judge this one. Maybe Shade of Smiles? It is a fanfic that explores a happening that is treated as small in canon but is really anything but just that.

In all honesty it’s a Harry Potter crack fic. 🙃

I used to always end with cliffhangers, but that was mostly because I needed that to propel me forward. I had to finish a new chapter to find out what happened next than being cruel =P

Lavinia Reborn

I'm starting a new Skyrim file which means I've got a new Dragonborn but surprised it's actually going to be Lavinia. Also, she's not even the Dragonborn but oh well. Her story is a huge mess and I wanna revamp her and talk about her again. Her entire personality and backstory are going to be under major construction but I'm super excited! There's literally a changelog at the very end

 Lavinia murders Grelod the kind upon learning of the abuse the children there are subject to, both for Aventus and out of guilt for not realizing sooner despite living in Riften. She is kidnapped 3 weeks later, and the events of the Dark Brotherhood plotline follow. She grows close to every member of the brotherhood, eventually falling in love with Gabriella. The two of them are nearly betrothed when the brotherhood begins falling apart. Her dedication to the brotherhood leads to her killing Cicero, and when Gabriella and most of the brotherhood are murdered she forms a bond with Babette and Nazir that is borderline codependent. Together they rebuild and regroup in Dawnstar and after a period of time get back on their feet. She becomes a devout follower of Sithis and leader of the Dark Brotherhood in Skyrim. 

Her assassinations are swift and unexpected, often acting as a barmaid and slipping undetectable poisons into bottles of ale. She remains somewhat of an honorary member and associate of the thieves guild though she is very rarely active in their work. She communicates between the two often and gives them tip-offs and information where she can, as well as taking over Delvin's role as the connection between the two groups, The only one aware of her position from the guild is Brynjolf.

Lavinia is now a master alchemist, with a decent knowledge of enchantment as well. In her teen years, she apprenticed under Elgrim. Her mother was an alchemist and it is one of the few connections she has to her birth family. She continues her studies until there is nothing more Elgrim can teach her, eventually working alongside Gabriella to create undetectable but deadly poisons. This is now her style for assassinations.

I made her a bit older when she starts the brotherhood questline (24) because now that I'm not 15 I realize there is no reason for her to be 18

Lavinia is no longer the dragonborn

Lavinia is no longer the guild master. Instead the duties of the guild master are shared between Karliah and Brynjolf, with Lavinia weighing in when she can. Her sole focus is now being the listener.

Fun Fact: Breyth is not a member of the dark brotherhood, though he is still the listener. the night mother can speak to him no matter where he is and he in turn sends the brotherhood anonymous tips. he is good friends with Babette and Cicero. he has never met the other members and will likely not do so for some time. he did still kill Gerlod the kind, it’s just that Babette covered for him.
