Wan: can I ask you a question shi?

Wan shi Tong: you already have Wan. Many times again.

Wan: last one?

Wan shi Tong:.....fine, last one

Wan:...what ...am I?

Wan shi Tong: your question disorientes me. You are man. 

Wan: no. I'm not. Not anymore at least. I am more powerful then any other human. It scares them. I...scared them. 

Wan shi Tong: Humans fear what they lack to understand. It's humanities greatest flaw.

Wan: your not answering me shi.

Wan shi Tong: (sigh) I don't know. For once in my immortal life. I simply don't know.

Wan: (leans his head back against the bookshelves) great. Even the wisest spirit in the realms is as confused as me

Wan shi Tong: Wan, there has never been anything like you.  You are....an anomaly. A question. Only you can find out what you are

Wan: (dry laugh) a question? That's the nicest way to phrase it, isn't it? (Hugs knees) I'm not human, that's obvious. But I'm not a spirit. I'm not a demon, at least, I hope not. And I'm not a God, I'm imperfect. Like all humans 

Wan shi Tong:...but you are not human...and that is the cycle that troubles you

Wan: sometimes, I wish I still was. This promise I made to Raava...it ...it's stressful trying to keep it. 

Wan shi Tong: and the humans aren't making it any easier

Wan: spirits too. They treat me like an abomination, after all I've done for them. The 'avatar' they call me. Avatar Wan. 

Wan shi Tong: hmm. An avatar. It means an embodiment of something else. A human form, if you will. 

Wan: is it an insult then?

Wan shi Tong: (shrug) it can also mean, an incarnate of a god. A deity if you will.

Wan: so they mock me, but compliment me? (Shakes head) Spirits just can't make up their minds 

Wan shi Tong: indeed. I say you should use it. Make it your own. Make it a name to be respected and admired of.

Wan: (lifts his head and smiles sofly) maybe. That way it can't be used against me anymore.

Wan Shi Tong: (stand up and extends his wing) AVATAR WAN: THE FIRST OF HIS KIND!!!

Wan: more like the only one of his kind

Wan shi Tong: I wouldn't be so sure

OC avatar character - Bending Master of a new element

I did a thing - made this OC character, the anatomy and stuff based off @danicasills artwork, what do U think? I didn't trace this one as I was practicing my anatomy so I thought it was pretty good and matched up well to Danica Sills' one. So, she's an ATLA bender, maybe of a new element? Please help me decide. I'm only 14 - so don't be too harsh and keep it NOT NSFW. Also shoot me a follow on Insta if U like- @akisnahart. She'd definitely be a spirit like the painted lady but what element would she bend??

So while rewatching Avatar: The Last Airbender recently, I noticed a trend

A number of spirits we see have an animal form, specifically animals we recognize as "normal" for us. For example:

- Wan Shi Tong is an owl and his knowledge seekers are foxes

- Tui and La are koi fish

- Hei Bai is a panda

-The guardian of the mother of faces is a wolf (The Search)

Heck there's even the talking Baboon spirit and the monkey missing its face that we see in the Spirit World at the end of Season 1.

Basically every time we've seen a "normal" animal, they've been a spirit.

My point? I argue that Bosco is a spirit bear that's chilling and living the good life in the mortal world just because he can.
