Yes and no.

Personally I adore how tf2 as a game/fandom has shaped the mercenaries as "classes" and not actual characters e.g you can have your own oc heavy/headcanon heavy as you like and it wont really affect the story/continuation of the game/comics, but if you change Sebastian from Black butler almost the whole story collapses. This is why its also one of my favourite fandoms, the versatility and the fun you can have with the characters is much more flexible than your common vidi game or animu (joke language).

As for ships/whats canon/noncanon i guess avain yes and no. At one side everyone that has eyes can see that Heavy and Medic are much more close than just guy friends, but this isnt a golden rule.

Just cuz two guys are besties and play doctor surgeon irl doesnt mean they play pp in cornholio every day.

BUT they do seem adorable and have immaculate vibes.

Again, nothing against MedicSniper or whathaveyou gurls but i like how wholesome this ship is. I mean, look at Ao3 and the n.1 tag is fluff (second is anal sex but thats another story).

So i support the HIC commitee but i also respect anyone who ships medick or heavy with other peeps.

In my honest opinion, everything than Spyx Scout (in a dadxson) is canon as long as you write a good fanfic.
