An open letter to RDM and all of you beautiful amazing tumblr peeps

Today I was called stupid and ignorant by RDM. This in response to my post explaining that I didn't see any clear signs that Maddie's character was a POC( I would at no point say that's okay at all ever) /and as a separate point that if she will do the role of a autistic child justice , then I would have no problem with her in the role. That doesn't mean "looking the part", that means really truly understanding the hardships, being able to tell their story with utter truth , not some superficial retelling of what society thinks autism is. Now this is the part I would love if you could read. I'm going to tell you a little bit about me , and if you look think I'm a shitty person still, then that is your opinion, but at least you got to know a little of what I stand for. I was raised by a foster mother, who died when I was 12 . My sister adopted me who was the strongest person I know. That doesn't make me special . That doesn't make me brave. But what it did do is make me want to help people in similar situations. I'm now in law school to become a legal aid attorney. Meaning I will make 36,000 a year while sitting under 150,000 of debt. Why? Because what's happens in this country to minorities and immigrants is absolute bullshit. This summer I saw 59 clients , and only one was white, because our legal system works against people of color and non nationals. I would rather make no money then sit by and watch mothers being kicked out of their homes, unable to receive a public housing voucher , or trapped in a home with domestic violence running rampant, or the state trying to remove a child because of the "white grandparents" being more adequate caretakers . I am also Jewish so in terms of oppression I do have strong opinions some may not agree with. That is perfectly okay. I also believe in spirit animals as it was taught to me by my grandmother just like her grandmother before her. I have mentioned this in posts when people have told me I am a racist. I have also explained the history behind native Americans and aboriginals , and their beliefs in regards to totems. I do not claim to own any these beliefs from the millions who were massacred in the name of exploration , and I would never seek to dishonor their culture. If after all of this , you still think I am a stupid and ignorant racist, then my options are very limited . If you lived near D.C I would invite you for food and we could discuss our opinions and our disagreements, and our understanding of each other. But this is the internet , so if you believe that I am a person who wants inequality , or is ignorant , or whatever the case may be, there's truly nothing that I could do other than to explain to you of who I am. I joined tumblr because I had started law school and had never felt so lost. I had no family, no friends, and nothing but a desire to finish. I found this beautiful fandom and these beautiful people who we could share in delight about Chloe lukasiak and how awesome I thought she was . I entered into this whole community filled with love and respect and differing opinions and discussions and disagreements and it was awesome . So thank you @onlyxsilence @evergreenfaery @autumnmiller @autumnmillerandcompany @awinghart @chloeprovesthemwrong @chloelukasiaksource + ***everyone else whose username will not come up on my phone / that I can't remember because I'm in a glass case of emotion** And everyone who posts here and made my day a little brighter just when I needed it. I may not know you , but know that your sass and kindness and your opinions changed my life just when I needed it. It gave me something to look forward to everyday when I thought I should just quit and run back home. But on the same note I'm tired of being called stupid because I have a different view of something. If I said I loved nazis , I would be a disgusting bigot who should be shunned / blocked ( and slapped across the head with a chair). That's not an opinion , that's a stance of hate. But everything I've said that people differed with is an opinion. An opinion only to be offered to hear others and to discuss. With that said , I don't want to be called stupid anymore . I don't want to be called pathetic anymore by anons. I think I need to take a break. I love all of you guys more than you know !
