This candle smells like, pink raspberries, strawberry vanilla bean and sugared lemon drops. and Its described as : a lightly tart and perfectly creamy treat.

When I think of him I think a type of sweet airy smell, like watching the morning sun in the mountains during the summer, and you cant tell me that this man doesn't remind you of just that. This candle smells like crisp autumn air, white driftwood and a hint of green apple. and is described as cool, sweet, fresh alone time on the dock.

I will not lie he was kind of hard to choose for, I imagine him having a sweet smell but also obtaining this masculine wood like smell, like I can just see it. This candle smells like Red Apple, Plum, Soft Pear, Jasmine, Peony, Cedarwood, Patchouli, Vanilla, Musk and is also described as crisp woodland walk with sweet apple aroma in the air.

I know that this might be like so basic as a masculine type smell but he just for some reason seems like he would smell like a wood barrel that has been aged perfectly, like if you opened a perfect bottle of bourbon and it tasted perfect. This candle smells like a bold, smooth, barrel-aged pour. Fragrance notes: white pepper, dark amber and Kentucky oak. and is also described as such, bold, smooth, barrel-aged pour.

It's literally in the name, he reminds me of a beach plain and simple like that, like anything this man is like golden coast. This candle smells like Bright Citrus, Cool Waters, Sea Breeze & Beach Woods. And like my description this is told to be like, The smell of cool ocean waters fills the California coast.

"oh my god he's wearing leopard print with plaid" AND HE MAKES IT WORK. yes if someone just told me with no context or reference pics whatsoever that this guy pairs leopard print with plaid, i too would be like what the fuck lol that's terrible. BUT NOW THAT I’VE ACTUALLY SEEN IT WITH MY OWN EYES I’M A CHANGED WOMAN. and this is how he works it: neither pattern is too much. the leopard print is lightly sprinkled on the top of his vest (idk why he wears it it doesn’t seem to serve any practical purpose but it looks good so who cares), and the plaid is literally just on the sleeves. there isn’t a lot of contrast between the black and the purple squares so it’s easy on the eyes. and under the plaid and the vest he’s wearing a normal black tee with a little graphic on it, and again it’s not too much it’s just a little thing. his top half definitely catches the eye but it’s not terribly busy. i love it! and he loves the colour purple (his summer, autumn, and winter default outfits all have him wearing purple in some form and he looks great in them!) LET HIM WEAR PURPLE LET HIM BE HAPPY.

and he balances it out with how simple his lower half is in comparison to the top half! just a normal pair of dark blue jeans and grey sneakers. because he KNOWS that his top half has quite a fair bit of stuff going on, so for balance he keeps the bottom half simple HE KNOWS WHAT HE’S DOING HE IS CANONICALLY CALLED A FASHIONISTA FOR A REASON, AND IN AN INTRA-FANDOM FASHION TOURNAMENT I HELD HE LITERALLY RANKS 6 OUT OF 24 CHARACTERS (AKA IN THE TOP QUARTER, ALBEIT THE BOTTOM OF THE TOP QUARTER BUT STILL) WITH AN AVERAGE OF 81.7 VOTES, and his best outfit (not this outfit) ranked no. 4 OVERALL with 238 votes to its name (you can check the stats in this post https://www.tumblr.com/a3outfitstournament/722364282034110464/part-2-pairings?source=share) so there is substance to his canonical status as a stylish fashionista!! do not doubt or disparage the plaid + leopard print combo!! besides his canon fursona (long story short all 24 main characters were assigned a fursona as part of an april’s fools prank thing) is a leopard so let him express his furry self through his wise and based fashion choices!!

also he’s literally an anime guy. and not just that, a CANONICALLY STATED HANDSOME ANIME GUY. as in, multiple people in-universe have commented that he is good looking and stylish. sure all anime boys can look pretty but he is acknowledged IN-UNIVERSE to be attractive so even if he wore a potato sack he’d still be my specialest guy <3

i’m so happy you asked this omg. let’s start with animals!! 

the aqrabuamelu, or the scorpion man, originated from babylonian creation myths. they were created to wage war against the gods. they stand outside the gates of the sun, and guard the god shamash when he enters and exits the gates. these gates lead to the land of darknes. basically hell. also…there are stories of scorpion women, which is badass because they carry the flesh of the gods in their bodies.  

fairies (or fae) are my favorite mystical creature. the folklore that surrounds them, the vibes, everything. they’ve been traced back to french medieval romance stories. they can be compared to the jinni of arabic mythology and the nymphs of greek mythology. in irish folklore, there are fairy realms in our world, marked by ancient trees and earthen mounds. it’s said that these places bring bad luck and can bring the wrath of the fae, stereotypically sweet and beautiful, but actually mischievous and kind of evil. there’s also a bunch of different types of fae: banshees, leprechauns, pooka. dullahan, changelings, etc. 

next up, plants!! my absolute favorite thing in the world. these are a bunch of plant species that exist but are quite literally pure magic. 

first off, we have the living stone or lithops. they’re a type of succulent that protects themselves by blending in with rocks (they basically turn into stones and emerge in autumn or sometimes summer solstice) 

next, the dragon’s blood tree (the coolest looking tree ever). it’s scientific name is dracaena cinnabari and it drips red sap!! it’s also used as varnish for violins. 

last, deadly nightshade or atropa belladonna. italian women have historically used it to dilate their pupils to look more attractive which is kind of insane, and belladonna is used by witches in different folktales (used as “flying ointment” to get to gatherings with their covens).

Candy? Most, I love those chocolate covered pomegranate spheres? they're my absolute fav. Least, warheads; things that are super duper sour make my eyes twitch (literally).

Seasons? Most, autumn I think. Least, extremely hot summers, where it looks like you can go outside and then you step out and it's a goddamn blast furnace. I can only strip so much before it's indecent lol

Hot beverage? Most... earl grey tea. Least? gosh i'm not sure, I like most hot beverages fine that I know of -- think I'm actually going to say like hot lemon green tea, it tastes like medicine at that point to me.

Cold beverage? Most, iced tea; least, sparkling water (I don't like carbonation and this has no flavor otherwise so I net zero enjoyment from sparkling water lol)

Colours? Most, forest or emerald greens. Least, I don't have a least favorite color, actually. I don't like the color gray on me so I guess we'll go with that.

Vegetables? Most, green beans or potatoes or spinach, Least... eggplants or turnips probably.

Traditional foods from your country? I'm midwestern at heart, I love casseroles of many kinds, I think they're cozy; least? I do not like super sticky overly sauced barbecue.

Insects? Unfortunately I have a pretty severe phobia of most bugs that I'm trying to work on (and it's getting better!). Butterflies are okay from a distance. I am really not a fan of anything else.

Cake flavours? Most, my friend makes a really good lemon cake with earl grey frosting for my birthday which is so sweet and it is my favorite; Least, coconut.

Recently read the wallflower series because I remembered you raving about it and I l loved it! Maybe not so much daisy but it wasn’t that bad. I somehow skipped over Annabelle’s book so I still have that but so far I think I liked the Again the Magic and It Happened One Autumn the best. wanted to know if you have any recs that matched the vibes of Aline and McKenna or Lillian and Westcliff

I'm glad you loved it! Minus Daisy lol. Honestly, I feel like a lot of people are a bit mid on her book. Me included. It's perfectly nice, but that's kind of just it... I wouldn't call the first three books in the series (four if you count Again the Magic) or the relationships perfectly nice.

Definitely reads Secrets of a Summer Night! It was honestly WAY better than I remembered when I revisited it recently. Simon's more on the McKenna side of Kleypas than the Matthew Swift side, if you catch my drift lol. And Annabelle is delightfully snobby.

So, I would definitely recommend checking out, as far as KLEYPAS books go:

Seduce Me at Sunrise. This is the second Hathaways book (and has guest appearances from Annabelle and Simon... the hero and heroine Do Things at their party... right in front of their damn salad...) and while the hero isn't an Industrialist Type, he is lower class than the heroine and they've known each other since childhood and been in love since they were teenagers, like Aline and McKenna.

Married by Morning. This is the fourth (?) Hathaways book, which I recommend on the Lillian/Westcliff side because Leo and Cat just go for each other's throats lol. You can even see it in Seduce a bit. He's not at all like Westcliff (if anything, he's more like Gideon) but the banter and heated sexual tension is right on the money.

Then Came You. This is older, and I call it "proto-Westcliff/Lillian" for a reason. Alex is a stiff, proper, and judgmental. Lily is wild, rebellious, and scandalous. They hate each other. In this case, he's also courting her sister and Lily is determined to make sure he doesn't marry her. So there's that!

And non-Lisa:

A Rogue by Any Other Name by Sarah MacLean is a good one for Again the Magic vibes. The hero and heroine were childhood friends, separated, and though it wasn't her fault, she's a key part of his revenge plot when he returns and so he forces her to marry him and kinda royally fucks up... which leads to a grovel, of course!

A Scoundrel of Her Own by Stacy Reid is another Again the Magic vibe. They knew each other as kids, she was rich and he was poor, they broke apart... Now, years later, her family is down on their luck and she's literally singing for their supper, and he's this wealthy success who sort of swoops in for partial revenge reasons.

The Duke Gets Even by Joanna Shupe for Westcliff and Lillian on steroids lol. One of my favorites of all time, the Duke of Lockwood is very proper in the streets and a freak in the sheets (for real) whereas Nellie is rebellious American new money and they try to one-up each other for like a year before finally hitting the mattress. Hard.

The Duke Gets Desperate by Diana Quincy. Another "uptight earl meets American woman who isn't impressed and they hate each other" book! In this case, the heroine also wants to monetize his ancient family home in order to offset the costs, lol. And he's HORRIFIED. It's so GAUCHE.

Wicked in His Arms by Stacy Reid. The one where he hates everything about her because she's flirty and a little unconventional! And he's stuffy and conventional! And so he has sex with her! Oops arrange the marriage!

Three facts about me:

I am immune to cholera. Not through the vaccines or through getting cholera, but through genes. It's complicated.

I have moderate-moderately severe hearing loss, but I've gotten top of my music classes 3 years in a row, play several instruments, have almost perfect pitch, I conduct my church congregation and the junior school choir and I'm weirdly good at accents. Rather ironic, isn't it?

I can't see stars. Okay, that's a bit dramatic, but I genuinely cannot see most stars. Even in the countryside I can still only see a couple. Only the really bright ones (Venus?) are visible; everything else is just a dark canvas mostly. That's on having a rare genetic disorder :D

Favourite season: Autumn or Winter. Where I live the majority of native trees don't change colour, so when I finally see a cluster of beautiful autumn trees I get ridiculously happy. Summer here is also hell (quite literally, a third of the country burnt in the summer of 2019-2020) or it's flooding, so I hate it. I adore the way the sunlight is so golden and warm in the colder months and how the shadows are always long. It's sonoretty and refreshing and I don't get dehydrated or heat exhaustion, which is nice.

Continent where I live: Australia/Australasia/Oceania whatever it's called idk anymore (no I do not walk on the ceilings here, in fact, I would go so far to argue that I'm not upside-down because there is no up or down in space, there is just space. "But Bea, there's a North pole and a South pole" GUESS WHAT IT CHANGES EVERY HUNDRED MILLION YEARS OR SOMETHING YES THE POLES FLIP AND THERE'S ACTUAL EVIDENCE THAT THEY MIGHT BE DOING THAT NOW SO YOU COULD BE UPSIDE-FOWN AND WE'LL RIGHT SIDE UP)

How I spend my time: mostly school because school, or doing extra-curriculars like music and ballet, but in my spare time I like to think about people and the world and humanity and behaviour and minds and life and many deep things that often intimidate people. Oh, and I write. Obviously.

Are you published? Not yet. I'm currently writing a book that I'm really really proud of and I want to finish and publish. The only thing is that it's technically a fanfic, but the only thing that really makes it that is the character, so if I change a name or two and maybe switch up the outfits, then it will easily pass as another historical fiction book

Introvert or extrovert? Introvert, all the way. Sometimes I'm an extrovertedbintrovert, which confuses people when I say I don't have the social energy because I'm "usual l y so bubbly and full of energy" yeah that's honestly a bit of a play I'm like that when I'm at 5% social battery, when I'm at 0 I'm either laughing my head off like a madman or completely blank and dead

Favourite meal: honestly no clue. I like a lot of food, I like a lot of Asian foods, but I think my favourite would be a lot of European cuisine, especially French and Italian and German and English. I'd love to try some Russian because that's not very common here. Honestly, my current craving is apple juice and a juicy, cool cucumber

How powerful is Mei compared to her brothers?

And how powerful is Mei compared to her father and Lloyd?

What are some abilities that Mei have?

What does Garmadon (all versions) and Wu and Lloyd and the Fsm think of Mei?

this is a wordy one :)))))

1. She’s a bit weaker compared to them bc she wasn’t made to be able to defeat them. In a fight, if she played her cards right she could maybe outlast them and tire them out, but they were made to be stronger than her since their elemental powers were meant to be more powerful, and they are more technically skilled as her training mainly focused on defense, while Wu and Garmadon’s training focused on offense.

2. She’s definitely weaker than her father but he’s literally god so I feel like that applies to everyone lol. As for Lloyd, I’d imagine she’s stronger than him just because she has more years of training behind her

3. For some context in my AU, Wu, Garmadon, and Mei used to hold the elements of Creation, Destruction, and Life respectively, but after Garmadon got bit, the FSM stripped them of their powers. He split their each of their elements into four separate elements (one bc he realized how dangerous it was for someone to have all of that power, and two a regular person probably wouldn’t even be able to hold all that power) and this is how we get our first EMS. Mei’s element Life split into the elements of Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter. When she used these abilities, she could control weather patterns (on a small scale, just messing with the weather around the monastery) the life span of living things (She only used this on plants) and emotions (She never really used this though) If she had more time with her abilities, she could have learned how to control the weather on a larger scale and the life span of other living things, such as animals and humans, and the emotions of multiple people at once.

She doesn’t have these powers anymore but besides that she does know Spinjitzu, is most efficient with straight hand to hand combat, and is also really good at reading people if that makes sense? She’s spent a lot of time with people she just knows how to tell what people are feeling or if they’re hiding something. Also just being being out with the people of Ninjago she’s picked up different hobbies that she’s just become more skilled with years of practice (gardening, cooking, painting, playing instruments-she likes playing the piano and the flute the best. you name it she’s probably semi good at it bc she’s god’s unemployed daughter who’s really really old how else was she going to spend all those years?)

4. Wu and Mei never really developed a personal relationship, so they typically resort to the baseline instincts they have that came with their elements and overall creation-that Wu wants all things good to prevail and that Mei wants to keep Ninjago in balance. This leads him to be frustrated with her most of the time as he feels she is always blaming him for everything (which he’s not entirely wrong-he is not her fav brother and he knows it) and she also tried to interfere to his training of the Ninja. He thinks good can prevail and feels that she is getting in the way of bringing complete peace to Ninjago.

-Lloyd finds Mei to be the most “normal” person in his family, and he appreciates it. He feels that when he just wants to vent about his feelings, he can just go to Mei and she’ll never try to teach him anything or make a lesson out of it-she’ll just listen and help him feel more normal

-The FSM did overlook Mei slightly growing up. For all of his kids, while he was a good teacher and mentor he wasn’t exactly the best dad (he tried!! he did care for them but he cared for them the way he cared for everything else in Ninjago and only kept them close because he gave them so much power) It was just that Wu held his power of Creation, Garmadon required some extra attention due to the Devourer’s bite, and Mei…well Mei seemed fine on her own. He’d train her and help her study but for everything else, she had the power of Life! She could connect with her powers by being out with the people of Ninjago, she didn’t need him for that. (also just for this ik the FSM has both creation and destruction, but in this au destruction comes from the creatures that were on Ninjago when he first arrived, and he developed the elements of creation to oppose the destruction that originally made up Ninjago, so he has more pride in it which makes Wu kinda his fav kid)

(i think this is what you meant by all versions of Garmadon)

-Lord Garmadon was too focused on making Ninjago in his own image to care about the balance, the balance his sister tried to keep in place. When he was fully controlled by the evil within him, he saw Mei as an obstacle, something that stood in his way, but when he felt a little more like himself, he remembered how Mei told him that she’d understand that his actions weren’t always his own, as someone who would always care for him and try to see his side when no one else wood.

-Master Garmadon was always able to find comfort with Mei. Before being sent to the Underworld, there was a stigma around him, first from his element of destruction, and then it was bc of his bite, and even after the evil left him, he still had to deal with the legacy of Lord Garmadon. Even so, she was the one who could see past this. Bc he was Lord Garmadon, he gets the most public attention out of all his siblings, and bc of his bad reputation he feels the need to keep up this “aways good” appearance just to get people to stop thinking he’s evil, but with Mei he can be more himself with all his faults without being judged.

-Reborn Garmadon finds Mei to be an annoyance, especially when he first returned. She kept mentioning things that he didn’t remember, things he didn’t care for. This obviously left her disappointed, but he didn’t quite care. Eventually (during March of the Oni) while he still couldn’t understand her feelings of sadness and disappointment, he could at least realize that she was feeling like that, and that it was his fault. He was able to recognize and acknowledge her to be a good, strong person, someone that his son would be safe around (after he started reconnecting with Lloyd kinda)

-(also i don’t remember how he was in Crystallized cause i haven’t rewatched it but for rn i’ll say that uhmm they’ve maybe seen each other in passing? Mei is probably leaving it open for him to talk to her, but he probably hasn’t)

This is also maybe a good time to mention that i haven’t read the books oops!! I need to get my hands on them and I know there are some with good Wu and Garmadon content and i’m pretty sure they’re canon to the show so I should read them but for rn I’m not taking those into consideration

So, their name is Aire Greenwood, they’re agender, and they’re a forest dragon. Their structure is based on the Eastern Dragons in Asian culture. Their scales are in the shape of leaves (oak) and are loose, allowing them to flutter in the wind.

The leaves change color with the seasons and eventually fall off in autumn and winter. Beneath them, their skin brown and bark-like in texture. Their horns are are branch-like, and in spring and summer bloom flowers (Yeah, I took some Sawsbuck inspiration, sue me).

Their mane is long, from scalp to tail-tip, and is the color of ripe wheat during sunset (golden-brown with a tint of rosy pink). Their voice sounds like the wind blowing through trees, and their eyes are green and glow in the dark (I took inspiration from luminous moss aka dragon’s gold for that). 

They can't fly, but they're super light and can float and drift if they're enough wind blowing. They also have big, fuzzy, sheep-like ears that feel like moss because I said so (The Zonai from ToTK altered my brain chemistry).

I struggled with figuring out a breath attack for them, but ultimately settled on poison. However, their poison breath is not like the poison or acid dragons, where it just melts stuff on contact. Instead, their breath has a variety of affects that may occur if hit with it. Many plants release toxic spores or have poisonous properties that differ depending on the plant, from hallucinations to illness, paralysis and drowsiness, burns and pain. They can also just straight-up kill you.

They are, of course, weak to both cold and fire dragons. In fact, during the winter, they get really sleepy and sluggish and have little energy (Haha definitely not an allegory for my season depression. They do photosynthesis, which helps restore their energy and can be used as a substitute for food for short periods of time, and can purify the air with the flowers on their horns.

I spent a good time giggling to myself when I remembered that plants are asexual after already making them asexual. They’re also arospec (We love projecting ourselves onto our OCs haha).

They multiclass in druid and rogue, and specialize in healing. Yes, a poison dragon that heals people, the irony is delicious. I considered having them multiclass as cleric instead of rogue, but decided against it because I want to focus more on the healing property of herbs rather than magic (Also they’re literally made of plants lol). As for the rogue, again, delicious irony of a healer being a sneaky sneakster, it just worked better with their backstory.

Chapter 4 - Author’s Notes

Hey! Thank you everyone for your patience. I’ve probably said this, I’m aware my update speed isn’t the fastest and even then each update isn’t that long (writing is hard)...of course this is just a personal project for myself first and foremost, but even I wish I could chip away at it a bit faster lol. Akihiro

Akihiro’s given name (秋広 Akihiro) literally means autumn ‘秋’ wide/vast ‘広’. Ok so with the reveal of the gods(?) in this chapter actually their names kinda have some meaning! A bit! I’ll write more about it below.

His family name (小川 Ogawa) literally means small ‘小’ river ‘川’. That completes the family names being based on water 😂 I think they were supposed to be more important in the story, but now it’s just more of a...theme thing?

I remember in one of my old posts someone commented something like he gives off Iori (Digimon 02) vibes...yes!!! I guess I made him kind of the ‘good boy intellectual’ of the group haha, with some traits similar to Koushiro (Digimon Adventure) and Iori.

Zemimon

So, Zemimon’s initial design was actually meant to be like an insect-dino cross:

It’s a pretty cool idea right!? But I couldn’t really get any ideas for his evolutions, and also him being a dino kind of overlaps with Pangorumon’s dino-based evolution line. I do honestly like the idea though and might like to use it for something else in the future...

Zemimon’s next design is more bug-like, but leaning more mechanical? I wouldn’t mind it but I guess it’s hard to make bug designs look balanced as a cyborg (I feel like they can go either organic or mechanical-looking, but I struggle to design something that looks clearly in-between). And since there is that subtle theme of ancient gods(?) in the story, I kinda wanted to go for something more organic-leaning. Which brings us to the current Zemimon design!

Other notes

As mentioned earlier, the kids’ given names have kinda a bit of relation to the gods:

“Haru-no-Kami, the god of spring, he watches the heavens and the stars.” Haruka’s name (春日) means ‘spring sun’.

“Natsu-no-Kami, the god of summer, she watches the earth and the seas.” Natsumi’s name (���海) means ‘summer sea’.

“Aki-no-Kami, the god of autumn, he watches the great expanse and all who exist within.” Akihiro’s name (秋広) means ‘autumn expanse’.

“Fuyu-no-Kami, the god of winter, she watches the flow of time and every moment in eternity.” Chifuyu’s name (千冬) means ‘thousand winters’.

Hahaha so the names have (a bit) of meanings...what does it mean?? Let’s hope I manage to survive and continue the story to the point where it’s explained a bit better 🤣

Also we saw Murexmon this chapter! I was already set on her general body shape but so indecisive regarding her helmet lol.

Also yes she can come out of her helmet! She doesn’t usually do it because she’s totally defenseless in this form. Imagine a soft slug, but without the slime...the texture would feel like a plush toy but alive, kind of. Does she have legs? It’s a mystery O:

Lastly, the enemy Digimon of this chapter is the official Digimon WaruSeadramon! Yes if you’ve watched Digimon Adventure there’s the not-so-subtle parallel of WaruSeadramon triggering Dedemon’s evolution like how MegaSeadramon triggered Ikkakumon’s evolution in Adventure lol 😆

Yeah, I am! I am named after a saint in Ireland that my mom feels a deep connection to! My middle name (pre name change) was also a family name, derived from my Great Grandmother.

2. When was the last time you cried?

uuuuuhhhh like a couple days ago? I don't cry often but I have been Very Stressed™ as of late and that may or may not have lead to me crying over something kind Nats said to me.

ive been flabbergasted at why ive been waking up so early lately. only now doni rwalise that its literally just because 1. the sun goes down early so i get tired earlier and 2. it stays dark until like 6am, so I have better sleep during the night. so the light works with me thoughout the day. but not for long lol. its like maybe 1 or 2 months only of good proportions of sunlight during spring and autumn, and then winter and summer come and fuck it up with their longevity. ive honestly always seen the 4 seasons as unequal things. its like,, summer and winter take up 40% percent of the year each, and spring and fall 10% each. and I always wonder why there even are four of them. it'd be better in my mind if winter and summer were the seasons, and then spring and autumn were just names for those transition periods. and I mean this just for like, the nordic countries you know, cuz lord knows what the fuck is going on in the rest of the world in terms of season timing. i mean I do like the sound of monsoon season that happens in like,, eastern asia i think? i like rain and love the thought of a whole season being defined by the rain that happens. would not like to live on warm ocean coasts though. those tornados and hurricanes and twisters, and whatelse names they have, really scare me. thank god its cold enough hear for them to have a hard time forming. and perhaps the Suomenlahti also helps. sorry i dont remember the english name rn, its the part of the ocean that finland actually has a coast with. oh and I actually have no idea how tornadoes really form, im just kinda assuming that its something to do with warmer climates because I haven't really heard of ones forming near here. plus we dont learn any like evacuation tactics in school relating to tornadoes. or,, well you wouldn't evacuate during a tornado would you... see! i have no idea what do to in case of a tornado, because I don't need to! also the like earth plate thingys (tethatonic plates?) dont seem to converge near here because earthquakes and tsunamis dont really happen either. i mean technically they had to've crossed sometime ago here because Norway has all the mountains and shit,, but I guess they've calmed down by now.
