People can say whatever they want about newer Pokémon games but Palworld is not "the game you where looking for". If you wanted a buggy auto builder/survival/ crafting game that you can play with a Minecraft Mod. Then you never liked Pokémon or the RPGs it was birthed from.
If want some good monster rising game that understand the appeal of the genre
Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince
Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride
Cassette Beast
Shin Megami Tensei V
Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth
Monster Sanctuary
Monster Hunter Stories 1&2
Persona 3-5

A little more beta stuff was leaked recently- this time focusing on Legends Arceus and Scarlet and Violet.
So first off, I won't link anything outright to my blog just in case. Find it on Twitter, YouTube, or Reddit.
Second, there's nothing about beta Pokemon so far- and I kind of doubt there will be in the files given the games were rushed to a degree. But it is strange, both have elements in them that could have changed the final games a bit- probably Arceus moreso, as SV's is more on the graphics side.
Third, i am not a leaker nor do i personally have access to the builds- this is strictly commentary on *videos* you can easily find yourself. This is simply just thoughts I have- some may agree or disagree, I'm not arguing.
That out of the way: Legends Arceus
So first of all, we finally have confirmation that the modern bedroom found in LA's game files (as in the final distributed product) was indeed a remnant of what would have been before the official beginning we got. There were storyboards with it that depict the player watching a professor give their "Welcome to the World of Pokemon" speech, then it zooms out to reveal the player was playing a game on TV, they take a break to scroll on their phone, then digital shenanigans happen on the phone and the player gets sucked into a whole in reality.
This is old news to some- but there's also unfinished animation that depict this, basically only modeling the player and the tv- the rest is grey. It seems to be an idea they were serious about, but decided to cut it- I think it's for the best tbh. I never have liked GF's "kids and their smart phones" rhetoric and this made it seek like we'd rather be on our phones instead of playing the game.
Onto gameplay, there's footage of beta Hikari (has a headband instead of the bandana) and a Unovan Zoroark running and JUMPING around in the field. They battle with a Luxray in what appears to be auto battling with some limited commands from the trainer. This actually validates certain leaks for Legends Arceus and perhaps maybe even pre SwSh? Anyway, they claimed GF were debating intensely on a new battling system, and I believe one even compared it to Digimon World Next Order- this certainly matches the description, imo, but definitely dumbed down and in early phases. These rumors would persist a while during LA's marketing phase, so the decision to change to the system we have must have been last minute.
On a personal note, I know there are a lot of fans that are tired of the turn based battling system, but I'm personally glad we didn't go down the road of auto battling. It looked awkward to watch, and also it would make catching pokemon hell because there'd be a chance to knock it out when it's in the red. It does need work for sure- but I would argue it just needs work on an animation, camera, and overall aesthetic angle rather than try to fully shift things to a new system you know they wouldn't get right for a long time.
Back to the facts- there also appears to be a very early and very janky ability for the player to ride their Zoroark? I think? At the least, although both models are running on top of each other (developer beta, keep in mind), the player DOES seem on top of Zoroark, who does seem to gain a massive boost of speed in response.
Side note- this does harken to the supposedly canceled game: Pokemon Rodeo, where you ride Pokemon around. I believe footage showed the area where Scyther hang out in LA, and the project had been worked on since 2019. Perhaps they wanted to try to implement it in LA, but they scrapped the idea for accessibility via the ride system.
It's also clear they wanted to do something with Zoroark all the way back here- they weren't kidding when they said Arceus would be a very experimental game, it seems.
Onto the next game: Scarlet and Violet.
Scarlet and Violet beta footage doesn't really glean much other than a similar build of the final product (and let's not kid ourselves, the game is clearly unfinished). However, there is 1 unused music track, I think, towards the beginning of the game.
There's also a much different LIGHTING and SHADOW system compared to what we got in the end. It honestly looks way better than the final product, and it meshes with the environments WAY better imo. Most likely it was changed to the inferior one for performance purposes, as the game did somehow run slower than before (in an emulator, but still).
Personal take- I know some people's gut reaction is to immediately blame the Switch for being "under powered," but do keep in mind it could handle BoTW, ToTK, Xenoblades 1, 2, and 3, and more while still handling pretty decent shading. It is curious, however, that ported games such as Red Dead Redemption or Fate/Samurai Remnant might have some issues in a similar manner (there are some leaks of pc versions of some of these games being leaked, but they require very specific pc builds that would make them harder or impossible to run on much besides dev kit or Switch hardware). I don't know if this would be an issue with creating with the Switch 2 dev kit and having to downgrade- we know that from other leaks, GF had been experimenting with improved performance on Switch 2 dev kits as of one of the earliest Indigo Disk leaks- circa Dec 2022 or early 23. However, I don't think they had the kit during early SV's development, as it started in 2019 or so after SwSh ended development, and the Switch would only be 2 years old at the time- I think this is simply poor management and direction from people TRYING to get that BoTW look, but not wanting to update their tech or habits to properly accommodate it and not wanting to take their time with it. I think we all understand there was just a maelstrom of things going wrong for SV's development from the Pandemic, to trying to follow their same flawed release cycle, bad management, etc. It's a tired topic at the least.
As far as other things in the actual build, there does appear to be a... well, honestly? BETTER pop up menu for the bag and menu. It's stylized in a pretty unique way that feels nice and organic to the game vs the final product. The bag menu sort of overlays to the regular game like the finalized start menu does, but cleaner.
I can only guess this was changed because it affected performance somehow- perhaps related to the game's strange habit of being lit up when the battle menu appears in the final product, or maybe just another slow down like usual. It's too bad, it looks really good.
Between the bag and the lighting system, I hope both come back for gen 10. There's serious promise behind both.
As for anything else worth noting- like the LA beta, the SV beta has a lot of unfinished areas, nothing really worth noting on that angle.
But picnics- those loaded way quicker before, despite the game running slower on emulator. And sandwiches? Well, they were planned back then, too. It does appear to be an earlier build, as the guy was somehow tossing eggs from UNDER the sandwich to the bun, and underhand throwing the top bun on top instead of the finalized orbital drop method we have for both.
The only other things worth noting is that the player had a Lucario and Staraptor on their team (the Lucario is interesting considering Unovan Zoroark was in the Beta LA build). However the menu displays other things instead, such as Charizard (of fucking course), Poliwrath (not available in game until Teal Mask), MUDKIP (wouldn't be added in until ID dropped), and Nidoqueen- who isn't available in the final game AT ALL. Of course, these are just menu sprites and none of these actually appear in the videos- in fact, other than the creepy blacked out Koraidon, Staraptor, Lucario, and I think Staravia flying around, I don't think there was a SINGLE other Pokemon visible in the overworld.
Oh, and it does appear that the initial uniforms were planned very early, as the blacked out model matches the overall shape. Personal note- I hope they got that out of their systems. I hated it so much, and it was probably another time saving measure planned from the beginning.
Final thoughts: it's interesting hoe the beta build seems to be Scarlet- idk if there's one for Violet specifically, but looking on it, a lot makes more sense from a Paradox design and story angle if you just assume Scarlet is the canon game. It's easy to think of how a Great Tusk can kill a man in Area Zero 200 years ago, not quite how a robot could- and the final explanation certainly doesn't provide satisfactory explanation as to how it arrived there before the time machine was built.
As for appearance: Some of this makes me remember an official game freak reveal of early SV at Game Freak's CEDEC 2023
And this is officially revealed info. The Snorlax is definitely photoshopped in, but the shading and rock textures look a lot like this beta build. It does look better than the final build, there's no real arguing with that.
Again, I'm hoping whoever in charge thqt needed to learn a few lessons DID, because some devs were clearly TRYING to make some ambitious ideas work but just couldn't on the time alotted or the programs used. I think I heard they wanted to transition to Unity or Unreal for the next games anyway, so maybe programming it will be easier going forward and we can finally achieve these graphics they wanted. Probably not with ZA, but it'd be a nice surprise for Gen 10 or something.
That's all. Have a nice day

Digital Monsters Card Game Ver. WonderSwan Color
Another stupidly named Digimon game. This one was so fun!! I technically started it exactly a month ago, but there was also a week break in there, so it took me around 3 weeks to finish.
Difficulty-wise this game was kind of strange. I feel like it was like 40% strategy and 60% luck. I guess a lot of card games are like that. I will admit, I did use some save state trickery to get through a few battles, but only because each one took like 20 minutes (real time) to beat and having to start from scratch because of one stupid move was devastating at times. In the end though, I got pretty darn good at the game and could hold my own without relying too much on emulator tricks.
Notes:
I'm totally not a TCG person IRL, so it's such a pleasant surprise to me that I'm loving these card-based video games! Of course they're not going to win in terms of things like story or visuals, but the gameplay is so satisfying! Most games let me zone out, but these really require focus and brain power.
Not a lot of people are talking about this game, but the gamefaqs are still really good, so kudos to the people on there. I also watched a bit of a German let's play lol
Not gonna lie, this game has a VERY steep learning curve at the start. It was my first vertical Wonderswan game so just figuring out the controls was tricky. I then had to learn a whole new TCG system because this Digimon game is different from past digimon games. I think I was most confused with what to do with the cards that assist in digivolving, even now I don't fully get them. I basically lost a lot at first while I was figuring things out. No perfect score for me!
You get a decent starter deck at the start of the game and you can auto-build decks which helps things be less overwhelming. I chose Terriermon because I love him. He served me well.
The UI for this game was really nice once I got the hang of things. I felt that decks were a lot easier to edit than past games and the cards were organized very nicely. I loved being able to pull up the card art which perfectly fit the vertical Wonderswan and the holo-cards were also a nice touch.
I never ended up beating Impmon...oops. This game has a lot of "optional" battles. There's one you can only beat after you've beat 80 battles but like...I have a life, so no thanks (I left the game at 25 battles).
Takeru was randomly the hardest opponent in the game and he was like...very early in the game. He was the one I had to use save states on the most I think. Tricky bastard.
You can obtain cards via passwords found on the actual IRL cards themselves and I think that's pretty genius. Of course, I just pulled the cards up online lol.
The option cards in this game allowed for a lot of interesting strategies. I liked that I could beat an ultimate at champion level by playing my cards right. It was also satisfying that if you beat a digimon of a higher level, their "loss points" would go down faster.
I think I'm done with the Wonderswan games, woohoo!! It will be interesting to see what other card games are out there on more modern systems. I give this one (not typing that name out again lol) a 7 out of 10!

GOTG Review: Hypnospace Outlaw
This is the next game in my Backlog Roulette series, where each month I spin a wheel to randomly select a game on my massive backlog that I must play (though not necessarily to completion). These wheel spins occur on the monthly preview episodes I co-host with my friends on The Casual Hour podcast.
Both of my parents were educators at my elementary school (they're retired now.) Mom was a 3rd grade teacher and Dad taught gym. They both would stay after classes were over to work on lesson plans or grade papers or move equipment, and I got to freely choose which one to spend time with before we got to go home. With Dad, I would mostly practice free throws in the gym (though I never got any good at them). But with Mom, I’d often get to play on her computer (when I wasn’t watching Digimon Adventure on her classroom TV.
That was probably my first real experience with computers. I’d play things like Oregon Trail II (the best one, by the way) or an awful typing program called PAWS featuring a freaky Cheshire-Cat-like mascot. But sometimes, I would load up Netscape Navigator and just poke around on the late ‘90s internet.
I hated this cat so much as a kid.
I only remember bits and pieces of that time online. A Sokoban block-pushing puzzler, a Super Mario Bros. fan game with all-new levels, some first-person hovercraft racer that had multiplayer LAN capabilities (I’ve never been able to find that game since, it’s definitely not Hover! by Microsoft.) a fansite for the Sonic Underground cartoon. Even with my fragmented memory, I remember the joy and adventure I had just digging around. Anything could be around that next corner, and that was half the fun.
Hypnospace Outlaw is the closest I’ve ever come to reliving those formative computer experiences. Set in an alternate 1999, you are thrust into Hypnospace — an internet stand-in that’s part GeoCities and part forum chatroom — and are asked to moderate and police this online Wild West.
Developer Tendershoot has nailed the tone and aesthetic of this era. The highly compressed bitmap images, the way pages auto-play (incredible) music when they load, the terrible, terrible fonts, the fileshare servers that are completely inscrutable unless you know exactly what you’re looking for — it’s all just perfect. And it’s not just Hypnospace. The game has its own little desktop computer experience complete with email, virtual pets, a download manager and more. It reminds me of Cibele or Her Story, but much more freeform and robust. But all that is just aesthetic — the game itself is pretty cool too. As a Hypnospace moderator, you’re given little jobs as you explore the various pages and zones of the browser: Take down some copyrighted material here, censor some threatening speech there, find some lost files that are hanging around…somewhere. Some of these tasks just require you to pay close attention to the pages themselves, while others force you to put on your hacker cap as you cross reference ID codes with unlisted pages, crack passwords or decrypt files, all while a corporate conspiracy bubbles up around you.
It’s truly satisfying to use your online sleuthing skills to their fullest. And whether you’re stopping a virus from breaking the virtual world or just banning a kid who can’t seem to stop making offensive webcomics, you just feel this sense of power.
In many ways, Hypnospace Outlaw the platonic ideal of the concept of late-90s computing. I do wonder if that hyper-specific aesthetic and mechanics gives it too narrow of an audience, but as someone who is part of that narrow audience, I found my experience with it to be incredibly fun. And it’s one I won’t soon forget.

I think I hate Digimon Survive
I fucked up Kaito’s affinity in my first playthrough, cus I missed one conversation I could have had with him, and now in the True Route the addition of Ryo and Shuuji made me redistribute the time I spent with other characters. I realized it wasn’t going how I remembered, so I looked it up and at least one character is going to end up just shy of getting their evolution
That’s so fucking irritating
I either start the whole fucking thing over to make sure I do it right and make everything I’ve done the last few weeks a complete FUCKING WASTE
Or I just keep pushing on to be done with this stupid game that’s been wasting my time for the last eight months and be frustrated with the fact that it’s dicked me over at every god damn turn!
Making me miss Digimon because I didn’t do things right on the first playthrough, making me miss others because I didn’t do things PERFECTLY on the second! Expecting me to to play through the whole thing FOUR FUCKING TIMES TO GET ALL OF THE CONTENT
THE GAME ITSELF ISN’T GOOD
I’VE HAD IT ON AUTO FOR THE LAST SIX MONTHS
I HAVEN’T PLAYED THE GAME FOR MORE THAN HALF THE TIME I’VE HAD IT
God...this game was not worth full price

This is a game I am testing, I the last few months had another Digi Attack where I just had to play some games and even started to have wacky dreams and just had the wildest idea to mix my Pokemon and digimon from recent games and others.
I just wanted to see what this was about since I am in the middle of Digimon World 3 PS1, A game I never got to beat on the PS1 years ago and idk HOW I got far i that game compared to what I am doing now...So let's see what happen.
Wow...WIFI Connection....
I picked the girl and I learn her default name is Sayo and she appears in Cybersluth ....I need to play that game series oneday.
I have noticed the art for this girl in the Sun and Moon versions have a small detail aside from the colors
The Dawn version she is smiling
The Dusk version I am playing and even in the 3D art, She looks moody...That won't stop me! IN THE NAME OF THE MOON! I WILL...Smug at you...
Okay I don't care how girly this make me look or like a womanchild but....I'M PICKING THE PRETTY PACK!!!! It has Lillymon....Slap a fairy on it and you practically won me over
Hmmm Chaos Gallantmon...I just looked that digimon up and yeah that's a thing, He is standing next to that lady with the moon hairband and that kid to the right of me with the blue beanie
This kid is ANNOYING
After a battle these Vilemons showed up ready to kill us...Not kidding....They wanted to kill us, The battle system is neat.
Its 1st person like a dragon quest style but the camera pans left and right and the top screen shows a UI and the rows you can attack on, This helps out a lot.
We would go and battle more of these while going to go find the leader...it was simple and a guy in red laughs and fades away.....Now its a tournament arc
There's an Angemon fighting a Mushroomon above.
This is where I saved and just took a break, I have to get though Digimon World 3 first
youtube
These digi attacks full on lead to a whole sub series of content on my channel from a mascot Gatomon name Tail....Cuz its Tailmon in Japan.
youtube
I am even playing well made alternative games
I played Retromon the app and got to see what it was like to raise a digimon tamagotchi and even do online auto battles!
youtube
As of late I also messed with the app and PC version game "Digital Tamers 2"
youtube
Of course the moment I found the DNA for a Tinkermon to raise and playwith, I went all in. And since its called a Tinkermon, I had to do this.
Mixing Pokemon and Digimon was a really good idea since some of these was the results of games on my mind that it affects my dreams.
youtube
youtube
Its safe to say, These digi attacks was just the start of a new set of content for my channel since Pokemon content is still a popular medium.
So back to Digimon World 3 and oneday I'll get in on the DW Dusk

LMAOO it’s so funny how both Rin and sae have the same number of letters in their name the censoring can work both ways
AHAHAH you fr just get possessed and channel the energy instead of kaneshiro or kiyora it’s aiku now maybe that’s why you have crazy rizz too
IM CRYING the way the TikTok is so specific and fits perfectly how did you just have that on hand (ig it’s a sign pursuit truly meant to be)
SHOELIVER STOP why did i imagine a shoe and a liver HSHSSHSH BUT YES THATS THE ULTIMATE NAME
Wait spewpa fits so well another pokemon pairing W…I’ve also never watched either series I just know people memeing about it LMAOO BUT YEAH from what I’ve seen it’s just everyone’s kids THE WEDDING SCENE IS CRAZY no because the brides side is STACKED (Barou’s soul descends from the sky to shed some tears /j) omg Charles DOES give the bug kid energy guys…
I LOVE MIKAGES MUSTACHE LMFAOO the houndoom arcanine fusion is so funny it’s giving digimon (I think) you should just add a red noodle in the bg….one big squiggle….modern contemporary art we’ll know that it represents her red gyarados as well as the red string of fate tying them all together (insert the akshually nerd meme here)
THE DIAGRAMS the way that it’s all in cursive too has me sending because reading “fuckass butler coded” in cursive the vibes have me crying I love it though it’s so iconic (I’m ngl though my eyes moved too fast and I read that as butter at first so I was like huh….? Now imagine Karasu in one of those ridiculous Halloween outfits and he’s just a stick of butter with a hole for his face and his arms out on the side) ninja wannabe otoya is so real but the way that he makes Karasu carry all his shit is giving when a girl tells her man to carry her purse and bags LMFAOAOA long coat Karasu >>>> ok imagine his coattails are actually kinda shaped like wings though omg the bird motif goes hard I know some people don’t like long coats generally but I think it looks soooo good on him!! Wait ok I’m imagining he wears some like button up under the coat imagine him with rolled up sleeves and the gloves…..karasu the man you are….ok but i fr love the diagrams if you ever make more do show…
Side stories guys side stories…imagine you sandwich them between arcs like how they do beach episodes and fillers guys can someone actually pitch this to an animation studio (not eight bit) the mc slander is CRAZY LMAOO I love that dynamic to the reader and co group
Otoya acts cool but he’s so be fangirling over that like you know that one face he makes where he’s like happy/content and his eyes kinda turn into rectangles/lines and he’s throwing a like surfer hand thing (WOW this is why I don’t write) or like when anime’s add the like shoujo pink bright sparkly flower fx yeah that’s what I’m imagining but CRYING I THINK SO?? Prince being like wow Karasu you’re pretty strong! I immediately started playing the Justin Bieber that should be me audio in my mind congrats you’re now forever associated with him
LMAOO considering that even kaneshiro gave Barou some crack moments (maid Barou) id agree Barou and crack work so well im so excited to read about the goofy shenanigans im prepared to fr laugh my ass off
WAIT THE BUILD ME A PKMN TEAM IS GENIUS I gotta go brush up on my dex knowledge know and get prepared pursuit really opening up all these opportunities and ideas
That’s fr me anytime I use a non auto saving software like I’ll move my cursor an inch to the left and press save (Karasu over Isagi any day straight facts)
Wait no because I NEVER see Reo hate I actually usually only see Reo defenders/glazers and they like fully blame Nagi for EVERYTHING and I’m like are we gonna ignore the toothbrush scene /hj (I thought it was funny for comedic effect but people also take it way too seriously but also the dependency goes crazy) and fr!! Actually I think the sub idea is pretty good the copy ability reminds me of a character from Kuroko’s basketball who’s really good but not number one because of the limitations the copy has (he’s able to copy 100% but only for a limited time because stamina energy typical sports stuff) but I agree Nagi being a miracle is kinda his brand….
IM CRYING THE NAGI TIKTOK your fyp is actually insane ok but glad it didn’t delete the entire thing wait im gonna do a wc of this to see how long our responses usually are this one’s 797 words counting “are” as the end sooooo
LMAOOO Barou’s one insecurity is his tiny ass nose /j lowk I kinda like how ironic it is like you’ve got big angry ripped man with a cute little nose
- Karasu anon
LMAOO NO LITERALLY like it could really be either one but i feel like i tend to talk abt them very differently so even through the censor it’s kind of obvious?? like rin i at least acknowledge that he’s pretty and i’d like him more if he weren’t popular but sae…my opp fr /j /j sae fans don’t hate me
no because that’s literally how it feels like people will ask me for writing tips and i’ll just be like i wish i could help but my process is just be chronically online -> get inspo from a random tik tok audio -> get possessed by the character i’m writing for -> end up with a fully formed fic a few hours/days/weeks later LMAOAOAO it just happens
THE TIK TOK HAD ME CRYINGGG i saw it and was immediately like omg pursuit reoy/n…pursuit references are everywhere it’s a sign from the universe that it needs to happen fr!!
shoeliver best duo and HAHA no because that lowkey fits…i know in hindi it’s a common thing for mom’s to threat to throw a shoe at their kids when they’re mad (it sounds better in hindi i fear) which lowkey is giving barou??? and liver -> lover and aiku is a lover of many women fr
CHARLES THE BUG KID OF ALL TIME the wedding would be so crazy imagine nagiy/n’s son looking at kiyora like “twin 😟 where have you been ⁉️” honestly that mixture of personalities in one room is just crazy work…why not throw in grandpa chris prince sponsoring the wedding while we’re at it /hj HAHAAH grandpa lavinho as the dj…grandpa noel noa the officiant…grandpa snuffy the only one who doesn’t get drunk and helps clean up…😭😭😭
the funniest thing is mikage doesn’t even have a mustache like that in canon?? like he has slight stubble but he was giving too many aiku vibes so i decided to drip him out and give him the full villain stache FBXJSJSH omg gyarados as nagi and reader’s red thread you’re cooking here…nah because we were talking abt how chaotic the nagiy/n daughter + charles wedding would be imagine the tullireo and nagiy/n weddings absolutely INSANE work 😨
okay because hear me out maybe when he’s just training karasu takes the coat off and rolls the sleeves of his shirt up to his elbows and undoes the top couple of buttons of his shirt 🤤 i have a very specific vision of him post-training with reader sitting on a log or smth and he’s slightly sweaty (enough that his hair is just a bit messy but not enough that he’s gross yk) and he has the gloves on and his fletchling is sitting on his right forearm and he’s scratching it for doing a good job KFHCISJS KARASUUU we mustn’t fold…nah because why are both of reader’s brother figured such baddies bro forget being y/n and getting w nagi i need aegislash to isekai me in there so i can get with her brothers ‼️ /hj
nah because get pursuit to pokémon studios fr the plot goes so crazy i’d single-handedly revive the anime with it (jk or am i??) and yes i think that’s the plan!! like toss in the side stories in between interconnected arcs and relate them to the previous arc (so not after every arc but for example after the arcs where reader and co meet up and where they meet manshine trio there can be a mini side story of nagi getting his growlithe or smth)
PLEASEEE THE SHOUJO FLOWERS meanwhile otoya’s wearing his all black emo coded fit the duality >>> literally chris prince sees karasu’s talonflame and as the fire type elite four member he’s like “wow that’s a great pokémon you take great care of it” and karasu’s like “heh thanks man 😅” maybe this is what inspires otoya to sign up for the chris prince scam egg gift program that gets him his ninetales HFJSDKSJ
barou is so fun because you can see him in a more serious role like pursuit but he also works well in a crack situation!! he’s such a versatile character we love him for that…like for example shidou and aiku i would mostly only write in those lighter situations whereas almost anything i do with nagi ends up leaning towards more serious just because I’M serious abt him (jkjk) barou can do it all that’s why we must stan
RIGHT I THINK IT COULD BE REALLY FUN AS AN OPTION i’ll def see if i can think of anything else but this is def a strong contender!!
THAT’S WHAT I’M SAYINGGG all i see are reo and chigiri fans slamming on nagi where are the mysterious nagi fans that hate on reo or don’t acknowledge chigiri??? maybe it’s a twitter thing but all i’m seeing are nagi haters nowadays 😒 tbh i think that’s another reason i forgot i liked chigiri HDKSDK his stans are crazyyyy either they overly feminize him, gas him up toooo much at the expense of every other character (yes he consistently slays but at the end of the day when things are said and done i don’t think he can compete with a fully motivated/unlocked nagi SORRY), or both 😭 REMIND ME WHO GOT REPLACED IN THE U20 MATCH 🤔🤔🤔🤔 all jokes ofc i do love chigiri and yes he’s currently carrying manshine but i thought we all agreed that this is just a character development arc for nagi…anyways…
PLS THE TIK TOK WAS SO GOOD sometimes you just have to laugh 😭 and speaking of tik toks i found another barou edit hehe the intro is wild i lowkey lost it at the spongebob JFDJSKA also i’m sorry i don’t have any other friends into bllk so you get all of my silly videos HAHAAH
LMAOO no i agree it’s very cute it fits his off field personality!! his isn’t as tiny as karasu’s in the trailer either omg karasu’s is so tiny…not in a bad way though i kind of love it i think it’s adorable…anyways i think i’m the only person who’s not wigging out over the trailer literally everywhere i go it’s just people being insane over it like y’all PLEASE relax i think we will be okay!!

GTA killer, Halo killer, Pokemon killer?
Random people and journalists have been claiming these things in the past, and Palworld got the attention of Pokemon with guns in mid January this year.
I didn't buy their narratives that it was made by an AI bots, according to Twitter's users. Even though, it was made by around 70 people working on Palworld.
The fact that people panicked about AI controversy, even though the character designs were introduced in a trailer that was released years ago before generative AI could have been capable of making anything close to resembling them, is nonsense.
I know that Saints Row took Grand Theft Auto's inspiration and was it a GTA killer? Nah.
Or was it Haze a Halo killer? (according to some media sources) Nah.
What about Genshin Impact's art style that it took from Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild? I don't think Genshin butchered Zelda.
I mean Overwatch didn't kill Team Fortress 2 and people still play it to this day.
There were a number of examples of the next "Pokemon" thing in the past that Digimon, Monster Rancher, Temtem, etc. would become popular.
I didn't have high expectations of those games.
As for Palworld, the "Pokemon with guns" game is still early access, it's pretty nice and I'm having fun at the time I'm writing this post.
The next question is…will I be obsessed with like Apex Legends? Maybe.
Will this derivative "clone" game be remembered? I don't know. Art is subjective to every individual.
Minecraft, ARK: Survival Evolved, Project Zomboid, Rust……it's fair to say I'm not a fan of survival games.
I'll keep playing this game.
Life goes on. It always does, until it doesn't. But you know that, don't you?

Shit I brain wormed myself by googling bistro recipe this morning. Now all I can think of is a Digimon World/Monster Rancher style combat pet sim game where you have to play a cooking mama segment to gain new little dudes. Go on a little urban adventure to discover new types of food and by fighting random people commanding their favorite dishes. Go into a big restaurant like it's a pokemon gym with distinct types/styles. Go on little field trips into more isolated "dungeon" areas, not directly attached to an overworld, where you can explore the places some of your key ingredients are produced or processed and complete a little miniquest to permanently increase the quality of the ingredients you can buy. Enter special iron chef style tournaments where your normal party gets benched and you have to cook new monsters on the fly according to arbitrary challenge conditions. Instead of Pokemon's whole convoluted meta, fall back on monsters having a "freshness" rating so they expire after a set amount of in-game time, so even your best monsters you have to recook every so often, encouraging you to try something new based on what ingredients are available when your current monster expires. But have an autocook feature that lets you replicate anything you've already made once as a baseline, but you can redo cooking minigames to up your auto recipe's quality.
My brain is pulling itself in like 7 different directions at once trying to flesh out this idea. But I don't want to make a game I just want to play it...

Okay so I've been playing Star Rail and I'm gonna do a lil amateur review because I do that sometimes
Here's my take
1. I like it. I got it for pc and it's fun when I can play it.
More under the cut
2. It is free to play with micro transactions, however I've not spent any money on it and I find it quite playable and easy to get into. That being said, I started with a lot of free stuff from starting so early and codes, so my experience may have differed if I started later.
3. It's a turned based RPG akin to JRPGs like Digimon Cyber Sleuth, Persona 5, etc, but a little easier to comprehend combat wise
4. Story and setting so far is something sort of like a mix of Star Ocean- specifically 4 with the planet hopping- or Rogue Galaxy, with... well, a LOT of mystic, techno, scifi, and religious babble. Enjoyable tho. I love space trains so much. It's dumb but classy. There's also a LOT of optional lore you can collect and read to really help you get immersed if that's your thing, and characters will have a lot of dialogue to give you more world building lore too. That being said, they do kinda just toss you into the ocean with really complex shit right out the gate with no vuild up- I've been told that having SOME knowledge of the Honkai Impact series can build upon what's given, but it's not entirely necessary.
5. Graphics are great, I like the art style and how polished everything looks. Art style works for the game and it looks gorgeous. I do think the NPCs kinda look plain, but that's about expected.
6. Music is passable. Not really finding any ear worms just yet, though. The summoning music and the train music are great though.
7. It might be me and my somewhat shit connection, but I experience lag and disconnection sometimes. This can get pretty frustrating
8. Characters are fun and have fun dynamics with each other. I already dig The Trailblazer, Dan Hung, and March 7th's dynamic- I will say, wtf is this name? Like I know why, but still, not just March, March 7th specifically is her name. Is her full name Saturday, March 7th, 5023 AD?
9. Voice acting is... decent enough. I play English dub because I have reading difficulties due to unmedicated ADHD, before anyone starts screaming at me to change languages. There's some strange takes or line reads sometimes, sometimes the voice will read something different from the text, and there's a couple of voices I wish would just sound... different. But the majority is passable to really good. I've also heard some unexpected voices- you could say they are TRASH, but I find them TASTEful.
10. Character design is pretty fun imo- definitely a bit of Genshin style, but it is by the same people so you kind of expect that. But they're fun to look at, have fun weapons and moves, and have great art. My one complaint would be similar builds and designs for some characters, but that's minor and also expected. But I will say, I do prefer a good anime style over indie cartoon or realistic style, so to me I think it's great.
11. The menus are... very complex. Easy to lose track and get lost in. I swear the pause menu rearranges every time I open it.
12. It shouldn't need saying, but: It's not Genshin Impact- that's fine actually. In fact it's great, turn based rpgs are really fun, especially JRPG styled, which i like to play (Dragon Quest 11, Digimon Cyber Sleuth, Persona 5, Pokémon, etc). While I do like exploring open worlds and having a lot of freedom and real time fighting, sometimes it's nice to have a simpler point A to point B system with smaller maps, and especially nice to have auto battle. There's a bit of carry over from Genshin, but i think it works for what's given. I do miss my emergency fo- I mean, my adorable best friend Paimon, but she and all my other Genshins are Impacting in the other game while I Rail some Sta- wait I'm not finishing that sentence.
13. It is gacha. You kind of expect it- some people won't like it, I kinda like it to some degree, but I do got issues. Basically watch your spending- again, I haven't felt the need to, unlike some games that feel like you have to to get anything done. But it definitely would help to speed things along if i were. When you get a good character, it's a nice feeling for me, personally. That being said they do give you 3 pretty good ones right out the gate, and you do gather in game materials to help you summon at a fair pace anyway, so you're rolling decently enough to get something out of it.
Overall an 8/10 so far. I wanna keep playing, but unfortunately this damn meat mech that is my wretched bodily prison of my soul requires sleep, and I have things I have to do.

Digimon World: Digital Card Battle (1999) - 27/55 battles in
Yeah, I have no way of telling how many hours I've put into this game (doesn't feel like much), so I'm going by battles now. I'm about halfway done with the game if the guide I'm following is accurate. This is a really relaxing and fun game! It's not that difficult, but there's just enough challenge to make me feel accomplished.
(...they shouldn't have made the weird holocaust joke. And that's all I'll say about that because other people have already talked about it).
Notes:
-The gameplay loop here is pretty basic, but it's not mind numbing like Digimon World 2 because you're constantly getting to see new settings (from DW1) and story beats. All the battles have felt pretty similar and it doesn't really feel like there have been any bosses yet. Me vs. Vamdemon, for example, didn't feel too different from me vs. Patamon.
-The story in this game is really silly and the stakes feel pretty low. The digimon are all mad at each other for petty reasons like stealing toilet paper or breaking toilets (a lot of toilet stuff). Also, there aren't really any villains because any dark/mean digimon becomes a goofy ally the instant you beat them at a card game lol.
-They wrote Etemon's dialogue like a homophobic stereotype. You know the kind in anime where the weird muscular dude kinda comes onto the protagonist and then the protagonist is like "ewww gross" ?Yeah...they did that. I don't remember anime Etemon being like that, so wtf.
-What's with all these digimon with stitches on their mouth (Babamon and Brachimon). How do they eat?? Very Tim Burton-esque design choice.
-That was pretty funny when the solution to the "find the bug cards" fetch quest was to just have Etemon create counterfeit cards lol. I enjoyed Mameo's little asides to himself when he was worrying that his ruse had been found out.
-All the digimon continue to have a ton of personality thanks to the well written dialogue. I hope this carries over to the localization when I play the sequel.
-At the beginning of the game I was playing with an auto-made deck and then I realized I could just set up my own deck with only good cards and the game has been a breeze since then. I've been using the same deck for the past like 15 battles without issue and haven't really felt a need to experiment yet. Kinda hoping the difficulty level goes up slightly so I get more of a chance to try different combinations of cards. I've barely been spending my money at all because I haven't had a reason to.
-Unfortunately, I did miss out on a miss-able battle with Piximon/Piccolomon. I hate it when they do that in games. Not the end of the world, but hurts my completionist heart.
-When you win a battle with Kunemon he shakes his butt at the screen and it's really cute. Hoping to get a gif of that eventually lol
-I'm using a guide for this game that just tells you about each opponent, but it's not really a walkthrough. Luckily, the game has a built-in walkthrough. If you visit Babamon she just tells you where to go next. Thanks game!

Daily Log: 2/18/2023
Paragraphs ahead...
Finally found out about Clip Studio Art's "parallel" drawing ruler, so no more having to duplicate layers and horizontally flip 'em. Speaking of Clip Studio Art, I'm finishing the fourth page of "Puppy Eyes and Doll Eyes" (first page link) in it-- and let's just say, you'll get an idea of why Claire felt so afraid of Sarah and Jimmy. Also, never try to abbreviate "Clip Studio Art" into an acronym, as I tried for the previous sentence, since that spells out "CSA" which also stands for... something else, awkwardly enough. I think I'll just make it: "CS-Art," for short.
Also, I figure I need to be more active on this blog, beyond just posting stuff or commenting on other posts. Personally, I prefer commenting to favoriting because it feels a bit more "weighted," per se, rather than I'm just adding something to my "favorites" without a second thought and possibly forgetting about it in due time. I'm not knocking on those of you who prefer "favoriting" to comments, it's just I prefer a more "engaging" and "vocal" matter of interacting with other posts.
I decided to go back to making posts daily; but I really fear it getting obnoxious if I do it too often, yet how can you build an audience for yourself when you just awkwardly pop in to post stuff and then leave? At the very least, I can try offering interesting tidbits and stuff, and updates on works-in-progress so everyone knows I'm still working on stuff to warrant clogging up your "following" lists.
Also, is anyone else excited for Steam's release of "Digimon World: Next Order" next week? I played the original PS4 version back in my college days, and even broke it out recently in 2021 to 2022. Now, I'll be able to play it on my computer, which should make it easier to get stuff done when I need that occasional break. I still have "Cyber Sleuth," of course, but that's the same thing over and over again, and it's really made tedious by the lack of a dialogue-skipping option.
Please, if I wanted my Digimon game to be more words than gameplay, I'd get "Digimon Survive" (at least that has a "auto-scroll" creative types could work during). A shame about those lengthy dialogue and character interaction sequences, 'cause I DO enjoy digivolving, battling and all that jazz! Also, nothing like having Richiu, my loyal Veemon friend, following me everywhere-- especially when I'm playing "Hacker's Memory," and can give him the proper wolf-based digivolutions! … Actually, maybe I need to go do a little more playing, just to tide me over during this period of wait.

I beat Digimon Rumble Arena! Again! Second time for this blog specifically, weirdly enough.
I forgot how slow that game is 😭 at least the sequel sped things up a bit, even if they didn't have all the right VAs.
For some reason, the three minigames were a pain to unlock this time. The Digivolve Race literally didn't even show up until the VERY last time I went through the game, with Impmon. I was ready to just not bother with it.
Aaaaand I beat Deltarune Chapter 1 this morning as well! What a good game. Remember how it came out? That was batshit and it was incredible.
Seven games to go, two days to go. Yikes.
