Jeckole Fic Rec List Part II

I'm doing another one of these, but more for newer-ish fics. The more well-known ones are the most Kudos'ed fics you'll see on AO3 (for good reason), but I thought I'd give some love on some fics that probably aren't getting as much attention since the fandom isn't as active as it was last year.

Similar to the last rec list that I had, I'll mostly be sharing my thoughts that may or may not talk about the plot for each fic.

Candied Consideration by Kayleen756894 - This is by the same author who wrote Inscriptions (aka one of my favorite Jeckole fics), and while I haven't read it yet, I can always trust this author to deliver. It's a crossover fic, which may not be everyone's cup of tea--but, it's a crossover fic with Heathers (that one musical I haven't seen). I know nothing about Heathers, but based on some of the things I've been hearing about this fic, it's that one crossover that a lot of people didn't expect they needed. Both source material are pretty similar in terms of vibes which makes it fit pretty well for someone who's primarily a Class of '09 fic reader. I have yet to read this, but it's Kayleen, so...I'm sat.

Even When It's Quiet by mlpvsbojackhorseman - I didn't get a chance to read the old version when it was still running, but the author ended up revamping it and is currently on Chapter 2 with a darker tone. As someone who loves hurt/comfort Jeckole (especially fics that touch more on the darker aspect of mental health), this was that type of fic I was looking for to scratch that itch. I want to note that the tags include Dead Dove, but the author mentioned it's more for exploring really taboo subjects as Jecka and Nicole's relationship progresses.

God, I'm Very, Very Frightened I'll Overdo It by Fox_Is_Fandumb - I believe this fic has been around while the fandom was much more active, but it recently updated earlier this month and thought to put it on this list. I don't care if people say it's OOC for Nicole and Jecka because I'm vanilla and like seeing them happy. But what makes this not as "OOC" for me personally is that their core personality traits are still retained in some way despite being more mellowed out. It's meant to be a collection of oneshots during their (Jecka's) college years, most of which are pretty fluffy. If you're looking for some light-hearted fluff between the two that takes place after high school, you should give this a read.

Wanweird by AbsurdofOurs - I didn't think I'd find another fic that gave me the same feeling as Progman's Jeckole, but this was definitely the one. Nicole is peak loser in this one, and I love it. She's living in Emily's car and sells vapes to kids on the playground, all while still thinking about her situationship with Jecka back in high school. I say that this gives me the same feeling as Progman's Jeckole since their dynamic is largely inspired by Codepedent Philosopher's Guide to Staying Alive. And honestly, I eat that kind of codependent dynamic up so good. I love the interactions between Nicole and Jecka, and there were some scenes where I found myself laughing because of the comedic timing. I love the way that this author writes Jecka and Nicole's dialogue, and if you're looking for a specific codependent flavor of Jeckole, this is the fic for you.

Reflection by Kayleen756894 - Another Kayleen fic, but this time, it's a Halloween special. I read this when it came out and the pining on Nicole's end made me think I was witnessing her in a glass closet. Nicole is a vampire in this one, surprise, surprise, but she also craves Jecka's blood--the same friend who may or may not let her have a hit when she gets hungry. The part I love the most about this fic (aside from the prose) is the banter between the two. It was definitely needed after everyone's disappointment from the third game lol. If you're looking for a fluff(?) Halloween-themed fic, this is for you.

sweetgirl by jackdotcom - This was a really sweet fic I read (while I was bedridden from my Illness Part II) that takes place around Christmas. It's broken up into three chapters (though can easily be read in one go), and it has Nicole and Jecka having a shitty time but decide to spend the Christmas day together pretending that it's not Christmas.

Last Night in Town by bunmoder - I actually read this last night, and I believe they're a newer writer that came in, but I loved the way they wrote the overall mood of this fic. It's a more bittersweet Jeckole fic, but it's also very fluffy during the quiet moments.

I Was Never Complete Without You by MentalCrit09 - Also another post-Flipside fic, but for those people who hated the FYE Roadtrip route. It focuses more on Jecka's recovery back into normlacy after being rescued from that distasteful ending. It's not super angsty and has enough balance between the heavy subjects of what Jecka went through as well as the general fluff after reuniting with Nicole. For anyone who really wanted a fix-it fic/happy ending fic from arguably one of the worst endings from Flip Side, this fic is for you.

Laughter of a Faded Star by Progman - This actually isn't an old fic, and also a bit of a strange one. However, after my hesitation from reading a very AU-divergent fic, I thought this deserved to be on here. I've mentioned before that I tend to lean more towards Jeckole fics where they're adults, so that's most likely why this is here. I do want to mention that it feels very divorced from the original source material, but Progman explains it enough in both the writing and their author's notes to why Nicole and Jecka are the way they are here. Nicole isn't super fucked up here since her dad never shot himself, but because of that, she and Jecka never met in high school. This is more of an AU where they meet as adults, where Nicole is a part-time comedian while Jecka is a therapist/psychologist. It might not be up everyone's alley, but I enjoyed reading it and seeing how their meeting played out as their alternate selves.

And that's it, for now at least. I really wanted to try and focus more on newer/recently updated fics (post-Flipside) despite throwing in some older ones. It's not a very long list, but hopefully I can create a Jeckole masterlist one day (including Explicit works) that has fics stretching back from post-Re-Up.

I'll probably have a general Class of '09 rec list at some point because while I'm mostly a Jeckole monoshipper, there have been some fics for other pairings that I thought were well-written. But we'll see when I'm not too lazy to make that one lol.

He is a bit guarded at first, so much so that you start doubting that he actually likes you (« Surely, he would have made a move by now… » - nope that man is just slow)

If he actually likes you, he makes it a point to behave like a gentleman and he will try and pick the best time for a first kiss or even simply holding your hand for the first time

Not a big fan of public displays of affection (for obvious reasons)

If the two of you are ever spotted together, people might mistake you for a member of his team because he will not even get caught holding your hand 

That’s partly because he values your privacy at least as much as his - he doesn’t want his girl to get harassed or bothered 

However, when it’s just the two of you, he is all over you 

Whenever the two of you spend time together, he enjoys having physical contact with you, even if it’s just holding your hand while watching a movie 

Definitely makes up for his busy schedule with physical touch. 

Quality time

Overall, he is really mindful of your schedule and appreciates that you respect his 

If you don’t, it’s not going to work between the two of you anyway 

Most of the time, he is punctual and he will not show up late to one of your dates 

If it happens, he will profusely apologize and make it up to you

Even better if you are able to have an actual debate with him. He might not agree with you but he respects someone who can stand their ground and have actual valid arguments. 

Because you might not be able to spend too much time together sometimes, he will do his best to make your dates special 

As your relationship evolves, he includes you in some more mundane activities, just to enjoy more of your company 

Don’t expect to spend too much time at the studio with him. He keeps his work and personal life separate. 

That being said, he might invite you to spend time with him there once or twice. And it means a lot.

A perk of dating a dictionary nerd : he chooses his words carefully

It might not come with a big declaration either. Just « I love you ». Simple. 

Definitely catches you off guard the first time he says it, with a super casual tone.

Sure!

I think everyone who's ever made art has hit points where it's hard to go on making art or where a particular project isn't moving. So from that perspective, sure, a version of it is real...

But there's a particular version of it that's what a lot of people mean where you're A Writer™ and then the magic inspiration gnomes come and steal your inspiration juice. This is mostly nonsense, and quite a few author types who've actually finished long projects will tell you so.

When you sit down to a blank page and it stubbornly stays blank like your head, that's a symptom of something... and the something in question is often either depression and overwhelmed feelings that are taking over your whole life or an entirely correct instinct that your project is flawed and the next step is not writing that next scene.

Many people try to be pantsers instead of planners, get maybe a quarter into a project, and then choke. It's because they started with the kind of concept that requires planning, but they haven't planned. If your plot revolves around the characters eventually learning the meaning of life, you'd damn well better start with what you, the author, think that meaning is and work backwards. Same if your characters are solving a twisty mystery or complicated thriller conspiracy: you will not come up with a genius idea that ties everything together just by writing by the seat of your pants. If you don't go in with the ending in mind and some waypoints to write towards, you're going to choke. This is exceptionally common in grandiose fic concepts that are like "What if this true blue hero were a viiiiillain, oooooh!" where it's neat, but 99% of the point is showing us the work of getting from A to B. People write the prologue showing us the big concept and then flash back to how it all started... and then stop.

I see it a lot in projects that start with a character sheet for RP. Yeah, for RP itself, noodling along and figuring out what X would do in situation Y is great fun... but for many longfic/novel plot types, you will not arrive at a workable plot this way. You'll end up with a mess that can, at best, be used as brainstorming and completely rewritten from the ground up, using only key cool images or character observations. There are authors that start from individual characters and then see where they go. In my experience, they don't tend to be working in the genres that fic fandom types tend to want to work in. It's also something that often takes a lot more experience and skill than starting with a basic plot outline, and inexperienced writers often overreach.

It's not writer's block. It's a project that needs to be taken out back like Old Yeller.

Even the salvageable projects that are making you pause usually have some other issue like you not being clear on the central emotional themes even if you've outlined some factual plot. Or you've demanded that your characters do a particular thing for plot convenience, but you know deep down that it doesn't ring true. You can't write the next scene because there is no next scene. You need to rework the forced part till the rest can make sense.

And even more common than any of the above is people thinking that just because Danielle Steel sits down every morning and writes for eight hours, that means they can and should with no warm up or experience. Trying to force yourself to be a type of writer you're not—majorly overdoing it on any work, in fact—just leads to burnout and inability to function.

Unexpected OTP Pairings ✨

❥ Okay I know Valentine’s Day was last week! Almost two weeks ago! But recently I’ve been wanting to branch out a bit with my blog writing, & writing prompts are something I love a lot! So, I’m trying something new & came up with a few OTP ideas! I hope you enjoy, thank you & have fun!

Former! Villain x Superhero

Not even a real villain, just some dumb person who steals things or who makes evil schemes that always fail. Kind of like Dr. Doofenshmirtz, & they’re actually really nice in real life! But when a superhero comes to stop them, they instantly fall in love! Seriously has heart eyes & doesn't pay any attention to the hero’s grand pre-fight speech.

Or doesn’t put up a fight at all, just hands them the stolen goods & escapes. Leaving Hero completely confused as the Villain they were supposed to stop didn’t even bother fighting, which is still good but they’re still confused.

After this, the Villain now decides to become a Superhero!! To not only impress their new crush but also because they've always really wanted to be one anyways! It was just the push they needed.

Cue them now running the streets in a completely different outfit trying their best to stop the bad guys! Usually, it doesn’t end well though: they’ll trip over the air & let them escape, or maybe just show up late to the fight & it’s already over.

It’s even worse when their Hero crush joins the fray, and then they’re really clumsy or just start sputtering like an old car. Their former henchmen, now turned sidekicks, try to console them as they lay on the couch completely embarrassed by their feats.

Oooooor, they are super confident & much better at being a superhero than they ever were being a Villain. Maybe this confidence goes to their head a bit & will literally try flirting with Hero on the battlefield! Hero gets a bit embarrassed sometimes & their other super-friends tease them about it. If this does happen, Hero might end up trying to run away from the former Villain in an effort to focus on their job. But it just ends up being really funny to watch.

Bonus: They have opposite powers or maybe one has no powers at all.

Dashing Thief x Friendly! Detective

I'm sorry this one is a bit short!

A notorious thief with a heart of gold who only ever steals from bad guys & acts more as a Robin Hood character than any. Hardly ever keeps anything for themselves; just struts around after dark on the lookout for anything suspicious. Not one person has been able to catch them & their identity remains a mystery. Would be cool if they were a nobleman/woman or had some kind of big fancy hideout. 

The detective is actually their friend/partner (maybe)! The good egg who actually sees the thief’s true intentions instead of just mucking around in a Halloween costume. Although they're pretty ticked at the way Thief does things, they usually keep their coworkers & the boss off Thief's trail. Maybe a newbie or an intern at the detective agency, determined to prove themselves on the field. 

Maybe they met as civilians & the thief switched to a disguise to hide from authorities, but bumped into the detective who was out on a coffee break. It was love at first sight for both of them, so cute! 😆 They do a lot of coffee dates now, but sometimes Detective overdoes it.....

One is the brains, and the other is the brawn. Together they can get any job done! The Detective’s coworkers find it strange how the Thief shows up more often when they're specifically on the job. The Boss is suspicious but sometimes finds them cute.

Often swing by each other’s places to not only hangout but help each other with cases or special kinds of info. If the Thief has any sidekicks, no doubt they’ll spill funny stories of missions gone wrong or close calls. 

Stealing each other's hats and impersonating the other one for fun, then cue a playful chase scene around the room! So cute!

Dragon x Wizard

I know some people like fantasy stuff!

A dragon is resting in their cave until they hears footsteps at the entrance. But instead of finding a grumpy old knight, they find a wizard! Maybe the Wizard was exploring the caves nearby or on a journey to the next town, but instead of feeling scared or angry, they started fangirling/fanboying over the dragon instead! 😆

Likes to ask them all sorts of questions & sometimes can’t stop talking. Now Wizard can come whenever they like & the two become friends!

The Wizard visits whenever they can, showing off all sorts of new spells or potions they've created. Even though it might not be as impressive as their fire, the Dragon still finds it cool & applauds.

The Dragon will always try to impress their wizard friend with tall tales of each piece of treasure. How they got it, where they found it, if they fought anyone over it, etc. But sometimes those stories are exaggerated…

The Wizard will be in absolute awe at the Dragon’s stories & can’t help but be a complete chatterbox about it. Asking more questions about different things like how their magic works, how they can fly with all that extra weight, or if they can learn a fire-breathing spell from them instead—

If the Wizard lives in a tower then the Dragon will visit just as frequently! Usually it’s in the early morning or during sundown when there are fewer people around. But if the Wizard lives in a town or city, it might take some time for the Dragon to come around. It’s not that they don’t care, but dragons are more solitary creatures. Either way, they enjoy each other's company & the dragon likes to ask questions about different thingamabobs on the Wizard's shelves.

They can both be pretty clingy but that’s sometimes a bit tough to handle because the poor wizard has to be extra careful, especially with pouring bottles or waving their wand around if they’re not even two feet apart. Doesn’t mind but sometimes will complain a bit if their partner won’t stay cooperate.

Extra Duo!

Since I loved the superhero one a lot I thought of another one: what if a Hero’s Sidekick & a Villain’s Henchman fall in love!

The Henchman does end up giving Sidekick any tips about their next plan. Cue the Villain throwing a tantrum in their lair wondering why the Hero is always one step ahead of them. 😅

They like to hangout in civilian settings together! Bonus if they found out their secret identities on accident lol

Extra Bonus if the Henchman or both villains become heroes at the end!

thoughts on riven (fate)?

I hate him.

(Disclaimer, I'll be answering this with consideration for the source material, not my own headcanons about Riven)

The thing is with a different direction he might have done wellish. For the aesthetic part of it he does have that angular, somewhat foxy face that I think fits Riven well. But getting rid of his haircolor is a crime. Also his hair should be messier. I don't think his cartoon style would work in live action and I also don't think simple spikes would work, that's very hedgehog vibe and his cartoon vibe is not that. His hair should have just been dyed and made voluminous and messy or he should have gotten the appropriate wig.

Now the writing. First of all, without Brandon and Tommy the whole balance is off. Combining Riven and Brandon in a Substance like monstrosity (RIP ElisaSue) and dousing it in homophobia and making it an apprentice sex predator is not it.

But let's go bit by bit, first: the brandon/riven combo. It doesn't work. Riven and Sky were barely friends in season 1. Riven had huge beef with him and Sky gave back in kind. In Fate Riven acts like an insecure younger brother mad that Sky is better than him in a really whiny way. Riven hated that Sky is better than him (or considered better) in OG and he was ANGRY about it. He met that guy and for some reason got competitive real quick. Instead of exploring why that is, they just made them close as brothers, and then Riven has his meltdown (was it even a meltdown? The conflicts in Fate are so weak (unless, ofc, we're directing a white actress to call a black girl a rat in disgust, THAT got to be intense) like Sky bitches to him about Beatrix (my blood pressure rises just thinking about it) Riven goes "whaaah, I'm just a guy you look down on!" and then they're cool next season as if nothing happened.

Now there's also a badassery level missing. Now in the show boys very rarely get to actually be badass bc the girls outshine them, yes. However, one thing about Riven is that the motherfucker is durable. Cartoon Riven would NEVER fold just bc Flora mildly plant choked him and he would rather eat glass than run away with his tail between his legs.

Now to the homophobia/sex predator part. 1) The way he cornered Dane at first was creepy as fuck. The way Dane then reached out none the less is not that unrealistic sadly, but wasn't addressed at all. Riven's lack of boundaries itself was not only not addressed at all later on but it also disappeared. It's inconsistent writing. Now I don't mind Riven being biphobic even though he is clearly bi himself. Like sure a self hating queer isn't an original trope but meh you could shoehorn it ig (the self hate part, not the queer part, I'm not annoyed at that). BUT my problem isn't a homophobic character, it's homophobic writing. I have a separate post for that ( https://www.tumblr.com/redfountainpostin/763521760187580416/beyond-racism-one-of-my-most-hated-aspects-of?source=share) but short version is that making villains (sorry excuse for villains, what did Bea even do? BLOOM released the big bad) the sexually "lascivious" ones is TIRED and I'm TIRED of softcore preporn of characters that are 16 and 17.

THAT brings me to my next point: Riven is made to look like he's a girl crazy sex crazed teen. He's not. I know several fanfiction authors gave him and Darcy a sexual relationship that's very intense and I respect that- just like I hope to do with my own headcanons, they work off of canon, exaggate themes, push them in desired directions and they make it WORK. However none of them make sex the ONLY think Darven has and Fate makes that mistake. Canon Riven is not girl crazy and no matter the dub you never get the idea he's thirsty for Darcy. He's in LOVE. Puppy love, if you will. Could sex be added in the live action version? Sure! But OVERDO it and fail on the love part and you ruined Darven. Speaking of which, are Riven and Bea even together in season 2? I swear to God I don't remember scenes of them together?

One thing I disliked as well was how crude and vulgar he was. However, that's something that could have been a plot point. I recently made a post about Riven's drinking habits (https://www.tumblr.com/redfountainpostin/766437598221697024/riven-actually-drank-quite-a-lot-for-awhile-im?source=share) and was considering merits of him having had a nasty vocal when he first came to Red Fountain. Why? Bc one of the more popular theories about Riven was that he spent his childhood on his own, homeless, on the streets. That IS breeding ground for bad habits. And those are ugly. From that environment you don't just get a tragic backstory, you get some UGLY traits that make people in general want to avoid you. Riven having those and slowly healing out of them would be GREAT. (having Brandon and some others, even Sky, be there for him and offer him friendship before he's officially "deserving" or even ready to fully accept it would also be lovely and speak loads about their own character) But we never really see that. He's a bit less of a prick by the end of season 2 I think (I never finished it) but not bc of any on screen growth.

Overall, Fate Riven is a sad, sad disappointment. He should have been the CARRIER of angst and edgy there. When Straffi promised us darker and grittier Winx, I was like FUCK YES, Riven angst here we go. And what did I get? Fuck all. Mellow not villain just ass, and fuck all of it.

The least problem is limited Rivusa time but honestly even that is fucked by the fact she got a nice boyfriend already. Let Musa pine, damn it. She needs heartbreak for her art.

Ateez Personality Energy (September)

So, I set the intention of looking at their strongest personality traits at the moment, or the energies around them, so this doesn't tell you all about them, just an aspect as we are all complex beings. From first look, some cards make sense, while others look confusing af, let's do this!

Hongjoong (King/Temperance)-Well, this makes sense. He is the leader of the group, and he is standing in his power at the moment. He is exhibiting great leadership skills. He exudes authority and can stand his ground when need be. Although, a King can be controlling and a bit of a dictator, with the temperance card, it seems he can balance being in control, but not overdo it. Balance, peace, harmony and equilibrium are important to him. His members opinions are just as important. With these cards, it shows he is a pretty effective leader. He isn't too overpowering, but stands his ground when need be.

Seonghwa (Companion/The Magician)-He is a great friend and a loyal companion. He cares about the needs of others and tends to lean on others at the moment. This energy can be a bit clingy though. He could have a need to appease others. Also, with the magician card, it gives me he may be trying to manifest a partner in his life, or someone in his life, interesting message there. The magician can be someone who is very skilled and talented and has many resources to get what they want as well. He may have that ability as well.

Yunho (Initiator/9 of Pentacles)-His energy seems to be quite the opposite of Seonghwa. This man is independent and stands on his own. He enjoys his independence. Now the Initiator card I created in the deck is an Aries energy card for me, so it makes sense him as an Aries gets this. He is a go getter. He would be the first to step into something. He isn't afraid to take a leap into something new. He is confident in his talents, and he knows his worth. He feels very abundant and powerful. Love this energy.

Yeosang (Advocate/5 of Swords)-This one kind of confuses me, this combo is weird. Hmm, actually maybe not. It seems he fights for the causes he feels passionate about. He may get into arguments with others who do not advocate for the things he advocates for. This could lead to fights, arguments, disagreements. He definitely truly believes he is right, and others are wrong. It is like if you don't believe in what I do, get the f out, kind of mindset. Yeah, he may say some nasty stuff as well. Oh, that actually made more sense once I channeled his energy lol I mean he is a Gemini right, so this energy makes sense. They can definitely hurt with words if you trigger them.

San (Shape-Shifter/Death)- These two together makes sense. He is all about evolving and changing. San is an open-minded person, always willing to let go of his past self and move to something new. He doesn't seem to stick to old beliefs and patterns if it no longer serves him. He is adaptable and malleable. I think he is someone always open to change and evolve as a person. I love this energy too. I feel we should be this way.

Mingi (Martyr/Strength)-It seems he believes he can save the world lol I also feel, not going to lie with this strength card, he's got a strong ego. He feels he can do and take on anything. His confidence can help him leap into new things ad take chances more easily, which is good. I just feel he may need to ground himself a bit. Okay, had to check what his sign was, because I needed to make sure he was a Leo, and that makes sense. He can also be pretty stubborn and may try to appear stronger than he really is, or he tries to exude strength. Showcasing his strength is important to him. His energy is interesting and kind of funny.

Wooyoung (Thinker/Ace of Pentacles)-The thinker card did show up reversed, which means he tends to over analyze things a lot. Now with the ace of pentacles, it could do with his career or taking opportunities in life. He may be cautious about buying things, not sure why that came up, but I go with the messages I get. He is someone in his head a lot, which stops him from making a purchase, what is it about him buying something, like why does that keep popping up, so weird how channeling works sometimes, like what does he want to buy? The dude has a creative mind, and he is very imaginative, but sometimes it goes into overdrive, which halts him from taking purchases, jesus dude, just buy it!, because I keep getting a message of him not buying things wtf. Like what is he going to buy?, so weird. Moving on lol I am kind of getting a headache here, so yeah.

Jongho (Prince/9 of Wands)-Okay, this one also confused me at first look, but let's see if I get anything once I channel his energy. He has potential to be very charming and seducing, but he kind of holds back on that. He is very guarded and doesn't trust others easily. Huh, I am going back to his love reading of him having the 7 of wands, and how defensive and protective he is. He doesn't really like to let others in too easily, but once you are in, he will show you his incredible charms and open up to you. Okay, that made sense now.

Okay, interesting messages that came through, especially Wooyoung, this is an interesting bunch here. They really intrigued me with this reading.

‘M-My apologies. Still, I just can't bear to be doing nothing when you’re always working so hard every day-.....’

‘That’s not true at all. You help Nadia out with her studies, don’t you?’

‘I do, but—’

‘Overdoing it even a little could put you at risk. Please leave any work of this kind to me.’

‘Urgh.....’

Having overstretched myself in trying to bring in the laundry, Ceres didn’t hold back in scolding me, her cheeks puffed out in indignation.

I had a feeling that we had never had little squabbles like this before in the past.

Because for both good and bad, it hadn’t been all that long since we had become a couple.

—But now, things were different.

‘The weather’s pretty good today, Lucas. Let’s go out for a walk together once Nadia’s back.’

‘—Yes. I’m sure that girl in particular will be happy for an opportunity to move around.’

As my lifespan gradually came to an end, moment by moment, hour by hour-

—So that she would be able to live in this world, even after I was gone.

‘Today at the hospital, I was able to get all the way from one end of the hallway to right in the middle. If I keep it up, making it all the way to the end won’t just be a dream!’

The two of them sat down in front of where I was sitting on the bed, and, as we enjoyed cups of tea, talked about all that had happened that day.

‘To make it that far.....You really have been working hard. Your brother would definitely have loved to have seen you.’

‘In that case we should go out somewhere, all three of us. I want you two to be able to see just how far I can go!’

‘That sounds wonderful.....Then, why don’t I make us up some lunchboxes? Lucas and I were even talking about going for an outing just now.’

‘Yes, I’d love to! I—I’ll help too! Will you teach me how to make yummy sandwiches, Ceres?’

‘Of course, leave it to me. I’m sure you’ll do a great job, Nadia.’

‘My, my, and I take it’ll just be me, your brother, being the one left out?’

‘Ehehe. That’s right. We’re going to make some really pretty and delicious lunchboxes for you brother, just you wait and see.’

The cheerfully smiling Nadia seemed much livelier than she had before the incident.

—And I was sure the reason wasn’t only an effect of her treatment.

‘Look, look, the sea’s even more sparkly and beautiful than usual today!’

‘Nadia, get too excited and you’ll end up falling right out of your chair, you know?’

‘But it really is beautiful.....When the sunlight reflects off it, it shines just like a jewel, doesn’t it?’

The three of us had taken our lunchboxes and come out to a seashore where there was no one else around. As I placed Nadia at a spot that seemed about right, she happily looked out toward the ocean.

‘It feels so cool and nice.....if we go out onto the sand, I wonder if there’ll be some pretty shells? I’d love to give some to Salome as a souvenir.....’

‘Then let’s us three go and look for some together afterwards. It’d be lovely if we could find some nice ones to give to her, wouldn’t it.’

Looking around us, I found a place where she would be able to use the wheelchair without any problems. Since we were a distance from the sea, we wouldn’t need to worry about her falling.

‘Nadia, would this spot be alright?’

‘Yes, it’s fine. —The two of you, watch over me from a little way aways, OK?’

When we did as she asked and moved a distance away, Nadia, surely with eyebrows furrowed in determination—

‘Alright, here we go-!’

With arms that were now stronger looking than before, began to push the wheels on her chair with all her might.

‘Nadia.....!’

‘Over here.....!’

Cheering her on, albeit without rushing over to her, we watched over her attempt.

And then, after some minutes had passed.....

‘Hehe, I’ve caught you!’

Nadia safely reached the spot where we were standing.

‘Amazing.....! That’s much further than you were able to go before!’

‘Indeed, my dear sister—you really have made such splendid progress.’

‘Ehehe.....’

When I patted her head, Nadia smiled happily.

‘You’ve gotten pretty used to using that wheelchair now, haven’t you?’

‘—Yes. Dahut made it especially so it would be easy for me to use!’

Nadia was likely recalling the figure of the young boy who had been her friend, missing ever since the incident.

‘Um, you know, once I get really good at using the wheelchair, I’d love to go and say thank you to Dahut. I want to tell him that I’ve been able to keep trying hard because of him.’

‘Yes, that would be nice—’

‘Together with you and Ceres!’

‘.............’

‘....Nadia.’

The three of us there together, with Nadia smiling so brightly—I wasn’t able to finish what I had been about to say.

—That day, late at night.

While Nadia was sleeping on a bed a short distance away, exhausted from the day’s activities.

‘Kerhoff, gehoff-.....!’

‘Lucas.....!’

As I coughed blood into the palm of my hand, Ceres supported me.

No matter how much I coughed, the heat filling up my throat didn’t disappear, and I could not even draw a proper breath.

The pain was so severe I felt as if I were about to die then and there.

But.

(—No, I can’t die just yet. I can still.....keep fighting.)

I had the willpower to keep on.

‘Fu, haah-’

Swallowing hard, I forced the blood back down and was again able to breathe.

 ‘.....Lucas.’

‘.....I’m fine. I won’t die yet.’

After lightly rinsing out the inside of my mouth with the water that had been at my bedside, I embraced her as she looked anxiously at me.

‘Just so long as I have you and Nadia at my side, I want to do my best to keep fighting.

 .....Although, perhaps you might get angry with me for ‘doing my best” too much.....’

‘.....No, of course not.....’

So speaking, she hugged me back, wrapping her arms around my now much thinner body.

‘Wanting to be together even for just a little bit longer, is something I wished for too. 

.....But if you’re going to your best, let’s do so together. 

—We’re husband and wife, right? We’re each other’s irreplaceable family, aren’t we?’

That’s why, I’ll be with you when you’re hurting, she told me.

‘.....Thank you.’

As I spoke my thanks, her lips drew close to mine.

‘—You mustn’t. You’ll get the smell of blood on you.’

‘If it’s yours, I don’t mind.’

Heedless of my trying to stop her, she kissed my pallid lips.

—I could tell as she did so that she could clearly feel the scent of death about me.

‘.....Eventually, the day will come when we’ll no longer be able to touch each other this way, Lucas.’

‘.....Yes. But that is something you could say of all humans. Rather—I’ve been able to live a fairly long life considering the sins I’ve committed. So please don’t cry. I’ve experienced plenty of happiness.....’

But at the same time.

‘.....I’m really scared. .....I don’t want to die.’

I couldn’t help but think about it all the time.

‘.....-’ 

‘I believe it’s a wonderful thing to have a life and happiness one doesn’t want to lose.

And the person who taught such joy to a sinner like me, was undoubtedly you.’

‘Lucas.....’

After slightly moving back from each other, we gazed at the sleeping Nadia.

‘—Please look after Nadia.’

‘.....Yes, of course.....!’

.....As I was now, there was nothing more I could do but heartlessly entrust such a request to her.

I could tell that her voice was trembling as she answered me.

As the tears fell from her eyes, this time I was the one to kiss her.

‘Even once I’m gone, the world won’t change. ....But your hearts will surely change greatly, and be hurt. Which is why, until the day my life runs out, I will continue to spend each day with a smile. So that your wounds won’t be so severe—’

Thinking out loud

Through following the updates about what happened to Liam, my algorithms are leading me to some conspiratorial talks..

While I don’t like to participate in conspiracy’s, there are some weird things about this story.

I want to preface this by saying, I DO NOT condone any hate towards Maya Henry or Kate Cassidy. I saw a post today blaming her for “abandoning him” because a source came out saying that “when she left she gave him an ultimatum- me or the drugs” while this may be upsetting to hear, this is not indicative of her being a bad partner or doing anything wrong here.

I grew up around many addicts. I grew up in a split home, so out of 4 parental figures, 3 were addicted to drugs & alcohol. It is not an easy thing to deal with at all and there’s not always a clear solution. It is a very complicated situation to navigate.

I think it’s obvious he was in the midst of a relapse. Since he had just passed his drug test, he could now indulge freely without worrying about getting back into the states. I do think that being alone exacerbated that, but that is not Kate’s fault.

Here are some bullet points of things that seem fishy to me

1. I’ve heard that the outdoor cameras were off during the incident?? Need to lookup

2. Pink cocaine in the hotel room but NOT in Liam’s toxicology report? Only regular cocaine?? There seems to be multiple reports about what drugs were in his system so it’s kind of confusing right now.

3. Roger (Rogelio Nores) claims he saw Liam 40 mins before and he seemed fine (I’m sure he was intoxicated with alcohol & cocaine at this point, but it was not in an alarming way.. when you know someone with substance issues, there are many times where they are intoxicated in a “normal” way vs times when they are binging or overdoing it) my question is, who carried him up to his room the last time? What was the state of the room then? Room looks like struggle happened? It just does not make since to me if someone is in the lobby and in and out of consciousness why you would then carry them to a room and leave them by themselves… it just truly does not make since. Why not leave them on the couch in the lobby while you call authorities?

4. Sources claim that he fainted and fell off balcony but balcony would have been above his hip?

5. Missing Rolex

6. 25 Injuries….. some think this is abnormal for a fall and that possibly he got in a fight with someone before the fall, but Argentinian forensics team claim that this is normal for a fall from this height? Need more opinions. Maybe British investigators can do a separate assessment?

7. Is it possible that Liam fell before the hotel phone call?

Please let me know your thoughts and if there is anything I have here that is incorrect or has been disproven

consequences for what they did to Katarina in this story, because it is clearly wrong and pure evil and I can't stand how often people just let them get away with it!

But I'm really interested how you are going to make this a Katarina x Keith story, I'm very interested how you plan to make the ship happen

Thanks for your comment! Yes, me too think that Geordo's method of judgement is overdoing and in this story he will suffer about.

Katarina（good person, not villainess, with her memories of previous life） will return to Sorcier disguised as another woman and meet him again.

Later of the story, Geordo is not a perfect prince but quite human. So relationship between Katarina & Geordo is one of the highlights of this story.

The way you say "quit human" about Geordo makes me quite worried, because his treatment of Katarina was "quite inhumane" in fact, and I really have quite an issue with the Geordo apologists going on,

And I hope that Maria doesn't get an happy end, the way she behaved and the way she enabled Geordo are quite horrifying to behold, we have seen VOD we have seen how OG/Villainess Katarina treated the people who aren't trying to steal her fiancée or break her family apart (unintentionally but she was 8! What do you expect of the!?)

I hope that when Keith realizes who she is he does some thinking, I hope he acknowledged that she was just as much a victim in this as he was.

Furthermore, I hope some compensation towards Katarina for what she has been trough takes place people have to acknowledge how wrong that was, Geordo in that single instance proofed beyond the Shadow of a doubt that he is exactly the same kind of Mann his grandfather was.

I think Geordo in the game "FORTUNE LOVER" is portrayed as ideal man, we often call "Super Darling" in Japanese light novels. He has authority and money, can do anything, helps and falls in love with a heroine... everything is perfect.

But in this story, he is gossiped it's too much having the villainess, Katarina, deported and worries what he did was wrong. I described his condition like that as "quite human".(I'm sorry for my poor English expression.)

I'm only translating the completed fan fiction I wrote in Japanese, so characters and ending may not be what you expect. But I hope you enjoy the story til the end.

So I just read Blue Flag and oh my god was I sent down a roller coaster and it left even questioning myself. Anyways before I get started I’m going to spoil a lot so if you don’t want to see that don’t look at the following post.

The story takes you through a lot of twists and turns. Sometimes you start off hating character that you actually love on the end and maybe bias versa. Everyone in the story has a lot depth and all of the characters get some sort of back story or make statements that have the reader understand why they act the ways they do. I know it’s not new for characters in anime to have a sob story of some kind but they all felt more relatable and realistic. Some people dealt with bullying, others were battling inner demons, some peoples parents passed away from accidents, etc.. Each story was different and all of them weren’t super extreme. Of course that’s not to say that people in the real world don’t go through extreme shit we all do. However anime sometimes can overdo those making the story seem redundant or maybe less interesting because it’s to much like the others.

Spoilers ahead!!

I truly adored Taichi and Futaba’s relationship. They were so adorable and I really liked the fact that throughout there relationship they had to learn to set boundaries not just with others but between themselves. Especially because both of them are pretty passive when it comes to being firm. Futaba being able to share her feelings about how she didn’t like Mami hanging around Taichi openly was just amazing for her entire character. Futaba is one who is always super clumsy and shy so she always felt the need to apologize. She stumbles on her words a lot also and just comes off as a not super confident person. So I loved that she felt comfortable enough to do it later on.

I loved them. I loved their friendship. I loved their dynamic. I love both of them as people. I just love them.

But what I didn’t fuck with was after Toma’s confession when everybody lowkey turned on Taichi. Everybody was making things weird for them. Don’t even get me started when Toma walked into the locker room and someone with no filter or home training felt the need to call Toma a pervert for walking into the mf locker room because Taichi was changing for gym like everybody else in there.

I think that’s the reason why I was able to live with not seeing Tom’s at the end of the book with Taichi. We had already seen Tina’s feelings so much that in those last moments it was showing how important Taichi’s feelings were as well. Toma liking Taichi doesn’t make Toma. bad person and Taichi letting down Tina doesn’t make Taichi a bad person. However the kids around school siding with Toma was making Tomas feelings seem more important. For instance, when those girls were telling Toma that Taichi was some sort of bad guy for not reciprocating romantic interest. Just pissed me tf off.

But besides all of that I loved there ending and I didn’t feel like it was rushed.

I don’t think I’ll ever be able to live with the fact that there was never a confession. I thought there was going to be one at the end of the book because of how Futaba was saying Masumi was special to her. I just loved them so much and thought they deserved way better. I know Futaba looked happy in the end but Masumi just looked enjoyed by her husband.

Even though Masumi’s husband resembles Futaba so much she didn’t smile or show any sort of emotion towards him until that last single panel. So that makes me question did she really get true happiness at the end like the other… But who knows maybe there was something else the author was going towards that I didn’t understand.

But anyway that’s all for now…

Hrm; I tend to do a lot of bittersweet endings. We'll keep it simple and say "Never Gets Easier", a fic where Edmont and Charlemend talk about their lost sons. There's no sweetness there, just men haunted by mistakes and losses.

Maybe "When Everything Changes" which is kid fic from the POV of my WoL's older brother when she's born and his ambivalence turns to big brother joy and love.

Had an OC's backstory on our WoW RP server's fic blogging site lifted wholesale; they changed the names and class, and then…walked into our weekly guild meeting that I was leading and tried to join our guild. When confronted, the person claimed their partner had leveled the character for them and based the backstory on Skyrim (my OC's story is very specific to WoW). They tried to message me later as if we were pals who would laugh this off someday. I informed them that was not a thing and btw the site mods knew they were a plagiarist now. Also everyone knew who their alts were and a bunch of other trouble they'd caused. So far as I know, they bailed from our server after that.

I hoped they learned better and grew up quite a bit; this was well over a decade ago.

Impatience, and certain grammatical abuses that do nothing for length nor clarity.

What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?

Depends on the fic. Depends on the intended audience.

For dialects, mostly the concern is "don't overdo it" as it can slow things down, be really jarring at best and offensive at worst, and difficult to understand if laying it on too thick.

Other languages entirely have different guidelines though, from sprinkling in single words or short phrases, to entire passages, and whether or not you translate or leave it up to the reader. Depends on fandom, on the characters, on the story, author intentions.

What was the first fandom you wrote for?

Narnia, in a my little girl diary as a pre-teen. I wanted to pick up Susan's story as a grown up and bring her and family back to a magical land. Cuz I knew it could, would happen someday, even if Lewis never got to write it himself.

What’s a fandom/ship you haven’t written for yet but want to?

Final Fantasy XVI. Midst. The latter is tricky as I really don't have ideas at the moment, but really want to dig into that vibe. My writing needs to be more weird in general, really.

Just finished the last chapter and I might screammmmm they're so stupiddddd and in loveeeeee and I hate them (i would die for them)

Anyway, before I actually ask any questions I just want to say how much I LOVE your writing, you put your all into this fic and it really shows, each chapter was AMAZING and I loved every single one. The way everything had the perfect mix of fluff, comfort, angst, suspense, hope, and dread was just. *MUAH* chef kiss. I hope to be here for any future fics you share because I am HOOKED.

now for the questions, I guess my main ones are:

How are you? How are you feeling about the fic? Because personally, it might be one of my favorites!

Your writing style is so fun, I think it perfectly fit the vibes of ruffled feathers! (i have no idea if that makes sense, but it does to me) Was there any part that was particularly hard or easy to write? Like any of the panic attacks or maybe flashbacks? Or any tips for beginner writers?

And lastly, if you are willing to share, what are some of your plans for the rest of this series? Any spoilers or fic concepts you want to share?

i'm so glad it hit the right balance for you - the balance of fluff and angst, hope/trust and tension/anxiety, was one of the things i kept retooling throughout the writing process, so i'm SO GLAD to hear it worked out! :D

as far as how I'm feeling about the fic, I'm honestly really happy with it! Currently I'm really proud of the earlier chapters and I'll need a little more distance from the later chapters before I can have a solid idea of whether i like them a little or a lot hehe. I'd written up through chapter 10 or so (maybe chapter 11) when I started posting, so all of those chapters I had a good bit of time to keep polishing to my heart's content. i think i'm gonna really enjoy rereading it lol, my main goal with writing is to write the kind of fics that i would enjoy reading, because that way i can guarantee that at least one person (me) is going to like the finished product. it also helps me feel like i have a creative center and not get pulled all over the place by people-pleasing. this means i end up rereading my stuff like "damn this author knows exactly what i like" XD The number of times i would sit down to work on chapter 10 or 11 or something and get caught up rereading the earlier chapters is a little embarrassing lol, it's just exactly the kind of story that i would enjoy reading 😅

as far as parts that were harder or easier to write! the flashback scenes were, oddly enough, some of the most fun to write actually. there's just this energy and dynamicness to the conflict in them, and the contrast between those days and the trust they have in the current timeline was really fun to work with. I also really liked going back and figuring out what their dynamic would've been in the early days. which is how I ended up with Scar's past crush on CuteGuy - that wasn't in the original plan but just felt extremely correct when I was working out the early days. the fluff scenes were like. too easy to the point that it looped back around to being a challenge lol. like it's just so easy to write them being disgustingly in love and it was difficult to try to not overdo it. which i'm not entirely sure i succeeded at lol but i enjoy reading those chapters so at least my target audience is happy 😆

and parts that were harder to write - definitely chapter 11 (the cuteguy reveal chapter) was the hardest. weirdly, the panic attack(s) in chapter 4 weren't that hard for me, maybe because it was a very in-the-moment kind of panic (if that makes sense), whereas grian's angst in late chapter 10 and into chapter 11 are more of a sense of protracted dread about needing to start a pivotal conversation which was Not Fun to write from lol. it's a good thing that chapter 11 works best from scar's pov because i don't think i ever could have written it from grian's pov, and it would've been really hard to reread.

as far as plans for the rest of the series are concerned! i'm probably going to do a separate post about my planned upcoming fics (in this and other aus), but i'll tease a little here. the next fic in the canon timeline will be one where grian sets out to find a way to protect scar from the ongoing threat to his life. it will be relatively low-stakes (...if my current plan holds). it'll involve a trip to the under-city (which means i have SO MUCH worldbuilding to do askfdlkjldfj), and will introduce at least one minecraft mechanic and a life series mechanic. ideally somewhere down the road i would love to write a fic about the downfall of the Institute, but that is way outside my normal wheelhouse and i don't have any solid ideas yet, so it might be a while and no promises lol. i've also mentioned a few diverging paths fics for this au, sort of alternate versions of what could have been. i've got two in mind that are different sorts of role reversals, one of which i may or may not have already started writing aslkdfjlsjfkd. i just can't leave them alone 😂 there's another diverging paths one that i'm not... entirely sure whether i'll actually end up posting? i've kind of teased it at least once but i want to be noncommittal about actually putting it out there. it's an angstier version, diverges near the end of chapter 4 (bonus points to anyone who can guess exactly what point it splits off at), and would be pretty difficult for me to write due to heavier angst. it would still end on a good note but it would be really rough in places. i do want to write it, to explore that version of events myself because i find it compelling and i want to stretch my writing muscles. but i'm not gonna fully commit to posting it because i don't want to add performance anxiety to the existing writing hurdles for that one lol. so basically: that one might exist or it might not idk, apologies for teasing something that might not end up ever getting published 😅

that basically sums up my current plans for this au! i'm also leaving the door open to the possibility of exploring other characters in this au, though i don't have solid ideas as of yet.

5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not? Always! I'm very greatful for folks taking the time to read and comment on my stuff. It really means a lot to me, so I like to show my gratitude in the comments.

6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? Ooof uhhhh like none? I think I did some themed one-shots that were downers but like...I really can't bring myself to end on angsty notes.

7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? They all end happy, but I think Love Stayed With Me has to be the happiest by default because [TOTK ending spoilers here]

8. Do you get hate on fics? Thankfully, no! It would be okay if I did, though. Like whatever, a hater isn't paying for my service so I wouldn't really care if they were wasting their energy in my comments section.

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind? Yes! It depends on the situation, really. I'm a big fan of smut that is sort of exploratory and almost innocent, where two characters are exploring these feelings with one another and discovering that bliss for the first time. But on the other hand...I am like, beyond ready to write Link getting pegged LMFAO. I'm not too picky about smut.

10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written? No... I don't think I have. I think I planned one when I was like 13 but I can't remember the fandoms or anything.

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen? Have had stuff reposted without my permission on other sites, but my name was still attached to it. So like...not entirely stolen haha. No one reposted under a different author's name.

12. Have you ever had a fic translated? No, but I WOULD LOVE THIS

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before? Yesssss! Currently worked on A Song of Storms with @deiliamedlini!

14. What's your all-time favorite ship? I really think Zelink takes the cake for me. I've never simped so hard for a ship. I love how they are cosmically entwined, soulmates which can come in really lovely, heartfelt forms, or angsty, miserable forms. They aren't limited by one iteration. gOD.

15. What's a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will? As much as I wish I could, I don't think a longfic is in the cards for me. I'm frankly not creative enough to keep the momentum up ;_;. Maybe if the right inspo hit. But at this point I write shorter things and I don't expect to not finish them at some point, even if they take a while to crank out.

16. What are your writing strengths? I like to think that I have strong ideas on characterizations, and that the prose carries the ideas that I'm trying to convey. (Particularly about Zelink.) I love the poetic imagery for them and enjoy metaphoers and loooove religious imagery for them as well.

17. What are your writing weaknesses? Absolutely fucking plot and also finding the balance between like, wanting langauge to be flowery and not overdoing it. I am always tearing my hair out over it.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic? Oh I'm very down lol

19. First fandom you wrote for? I think would have been Teen Titans when I was like 12.

20. Favorite fic you've ever written? UGHHHHH I don't know, maybe Reverdie because it was so music inspired? And I loooooove writing pining Link and the sexual tension between them. Part of me actually thinks about rewriting that and making it longer, dragging it out even more than just 4 chapters, but I think that's me being sadistic haha. Love Stayed With Me was also so personal to me because it was crafted sort of in real time with playing TOTK. And of course has all my own personal baggage tied into it.

i finally finished exclusive fairytale and i want to give some thoughts/a review! (contains spoilers)

honestly modern school/coming of age dramas usually aren't my cup of tea, i wouldn't have picked up this type of drama if jun weren't in it. but i was determined to enjoy it for what it was even if it's not the type of story i usually find compelling, and i definitely did

i really appreciated the humor, i'm a sucker for 4th wall breaks and record scratch moments, even if it's kind of cheesy humor i thought it was well done. they didn't overdo it, i think they kept a good balance of humor and sincerity throughout the show

i also REALLY like how realistic most of the relationships felt in the show. a lot of dramas will create over the top/dramatic plots with big misunderstandings or jealousy or these very dramatic romantic moments that just don't happen to most people in real life. and there's nothing wrong with dramas that are like that, dramas are meant to be entertaining and dramatic plots make them so. but especially when it came to xiao tu and ling chao's relationship it felt really refreshing to see a very quiet and gentle romance that develops over the years

like after they got together they didn't dramatically change their personalities or how they acted around each other, even when other's commented how they weren't being "romantic enough". because they were already comfortable with each other from growing up together, and the drama just let them be comfortable in their relationship from the get-go. and how xiao tu kept "forgetting" she and ling chao were together at first when she was making plans, honestly that's a very realistic thing. like moving through the world as a single person is different, and you really do have to adjust your mindset and your habits to accommodate another person when you're in a couple and that switch doesn't flip overnight

and there were misunderstandings and moments of jealousy but they were all handled pretty realistically too. when xiao tu and ling chao had misunderstandings they would just talk about it and resolve it. and even between characters that had a conflict, like liking the same person (eg. ling chao and yin zihan or xiao tu and xu linglong) they were still able to be civil toward each other and even friends rather than treating each other as mortal enemies (and on the topic of xu linglong i won't spoil her character arc but i really appreciated how it ended up)

like there's a thousand other examples i could give but i really was very impressed with how realistic the relationships were. it really felt like the author was writing from experience and not writing an idealized version of a romance or over dramatizing it

the one relationship/plot point i didn't really like was the whole thing with ling chao's father. imo given the fact that ling chao's father as far as they told us had NO contact with him or his mom for like the first ~16 years of his life so he could start a business to support his family makes no sense to me. like why did he need to move out and cut off contact completely if he still cared for them and was doing it for their benefit? it would have made more sense to me if he was still living with them but wasn't a good father when ling chao was a kid bc he was busy with work. or if he was always on business trips, or making some effort to be a dad but failing bc it wasn't his priority. like it was an active choice for him to not contact his son for his entire childhood. or alternatively, the dad could have left when ling chao was a kid bc he fell out of love/separated from ling chao's mom and then have them fall back in love again when ling chao's in highschool. idk the motivation they gave him for being absent but apparently still being a really loving and invested dad just seemed like lazy and unrealistic writing. like i didn't need them to spend longer on that plot and i was fine with ling chao forgiving his dad relatively quickly bc that's not the main point of the show i just wish the logic behind him being an absent father for the first part of ling chao's life made a bit more sense lol

on another note, i've seen some people complaining about the dubbing, but from the perspective of a regular c-drama watcher, it's actually not bad. there were some scenes where the dubbing was more out of sync but it was all pretty standard. it's actually on the better end of dubbing i've seen. of course it's not the same/as ideal compared to not dubbing, but if you watch c-dramas it's just something you have to get used to lol

overall i don't think this show is super groundbreaking, but it is very well done for the coming of age, childhood friends to lovers show that it is. it's a really light and easy show to watch. not something with a lot of excitement but if you want a show that's relaxing and easy to digest then exclusive fairytale's got you covered!
