hey chicas, i got tagged by multiple people to share my year in review ( @ttttaehyungie @dreamystuffers @floralseokjin @moononthejoon @yeoldontknow thank you all soooo much 🤩 mwah mwah hope u all have a good 2021!! ), so here’s me reflecting back on all i did in 2020!! also i threw a header on this bad boy bc thats how my life has felt since march </3

→ first creation and most recent creation of 2020: first creation of this year was actually skirt chasers - drabble i on april 23rd (yes april, she was a late bloomer -_-) after not writing for 6 months so it was very special to me ! the most recent creation was commercial break ; EIGHT on dec 29 where i rlly got to flex my ability to make up stories as i go 🤩

→ one of your favorite creations from 2020: of course i have to say netflix & chill that's my baby!!! i had a real fun time writing the original, and i don't think i could have imagined how popular it would become 🥺 also the series has allowed me to try writing so much freaks shit that EYE aint even know i was into good grief.....

→ a creation you’re really proud of: some way some how !! i wrote that entire fic in less than two days, shit was coming straight off the domeeeeee and also i feel like my storytelling in that fic was one of the best i’ve ever done !!

→ a new style you tried this year and a gifset/fic that uses it: since all of my fics revolve around pretty silly plot lines, i tried to do a more serious story with BORN SINNER; it has a couple deeper topics that i’ve never tried before, so i’m excited to see how that turns out!!

→ a creation that took you forever: explorer -_- that shit took me two whole months to write !!! i was so unsatisfied with the story and kept rewriting it until the very end of september. in the end, i can say I'm really happy with how the story turned out and the world building i somehow managed to do... also i love me some alien kook <3

→ your creation from 2020 that received the most notes: again, netflix & chill for the win lol. this baby has amassed 2.4k notes since it was posted in june, am i proud yes, am i shocked, also yes

Commentary - This story is for me a must-read for more than one reason. Let’s begin with maybe badboy!jungkook? Yes, we all love a good tattooed, badass jk, but as much as I can remember, this is the first time badboy jungkook is approached like that. Jungkook has all the attire of the baddie, but not the behavior that usually goes with it. We discover a bad boy that respect people, that is not fucking around like a horndog, and who doesn’t to stick his stick in any and every hole he finds. This is very refreshing and pleasant. Also, I want to take a moment to appreciate fully the way the dialogues are written. I particularly enjoyed them while reading the fiction. Why? I don’t really know… Was it the repartee of the two main characters? The analyze of the world they live in? The constant flirt and the slow burn? Or even the style in itself? Honestly, it’s probably a mix of all of that. Finally, let’s say this fiction is smartly emphasizing and kind of fighting all the clichés we can find in fanfictions. And what is best to fight cliché than writing one yourself? Yes, this fiction is definitely a must-read!

But in the case you need more, I can also talk about that teacher au. That enemies to lovers au. You will find shy and embarrassed Jungkook. And the humor. The humor. The humor. Yes, this fiction is smart. And funny. I think this is honestly one of the funniest fiction ever. I don’t remember ever laughing so much while reading a fiction. This is truly the kind of stories that will make a rough day a little lighter. And it is even better when you read it in your bed at 1am. So yes, you should 100% read it. Hello hello it’s me again. For this week’s theme, I’d like to recommend:

“This Tiny Space” by Miss @ubemango!!!

Now, listen. You know how this fandom seems to collectively agree that Yoongi is the MOST HUSBAND out of all the 7 members? We always scream “YOONGI HUSBAND” because of this... aggressively domestic energy he exudes?

He’s capable. Trustworthy. Reliable. Dependable. In possession of endless knowledge of things that seem trivial, but VERY MUCH helpful in day-to-day life. An AMAZING cook. Good with his hands *winks* (no, but really. He’s pretty much the boys’ handyman around the house). Quick thinker. More than knows his stuff when it comes to architecture and interior design. Oh, also, he wants to be close to his future kids.

Oh, yeah. A husband, indeed.

Now. What if I tell you that miss @ubemango here created a UNIVERSE where THAT Min Yoongi, with ALL of those husbandly qualities, EXISTS AS A HAPPILY MARRIED SOFTWARE ENGINEER WITH AN AMAZINGLY ADORABLE 3-YEAR-OLD BABY NAMED MIN SOONBOK??

Oh. Yes, yes she did. Miss @ubemango DID that. And boy, did she DO that splendidly. Perfectly splendid.

Combine that concept of Yoongi with her superb writing. Good lord, we have a LITERAL goldmine here.

Let me break it down to you to further prove my point:

1). Masterful storytelling. Here’s an example from a scene where OC (a.k.a reader, a.k.a Yoongi’s wife) gives Soonbok, their baby girl, a bath.

She does so without a word, grabbing the floating toys and placing them inside the plastic container. Thanking her softly, you give her a final rinse before draining the tub and toweling her off. She hates this part the most—it gets too cold too fast, and she’d gained the habit of running off naked into Yoongi’s arms when she was 2-years-old, prompting an especially exhausting goose chase around the room to get her into her clothes—so you dry her off as fast as you can, Soonbok’s tiny body shivering already, chanting: “Go, go, go!”

It’s not long before she’s in her pyjamas and bounding off to her daddy as you dry off the floor. It’s not nearly as wet as you’d anticipated, pride blooming in your chest as you think wistfully about how much older your daughter is getting: she didn’t even need to “clean up, clean up” the puddles on the tiles.

Now you tell me. If all of that diction or exposition or whatever is called is not impressive, then I don’t know what is.

2). WITTY, HUMOROUS, REALISTIC AND NATURAL-SOUNDING DIALOGUE. I must say, this is probably Miss @ubemango’s strongest quality. Her dialogue is TOP-NOTCH. Here’s an example (taken from a scene where Yoongi and his wife are out on a date):

Yoongi’s glaring. “Stop.”

“I don’t like the peas.”

“So that automatically means I like them?”

“No because you vowed that you would do anything for me and quite frankly eating my peas is a lot more tame than–you know. In sickness and in health, all that.” You flick another one of the mushy boogers into his Alfredo sauce with an ignorance Yoongi doesn’t hide his disdain for.

“Are you drunk?”

Your teeth are probably stained red at this point. You smile like you hope they are. “Perhaps.”

“You had a glass,” Yoongi says with disbelief.

“Well you were in the washroom longer than you thought you were, my genius.”

“Remind me not to shit at the Cheesecake Factory then.”

NOW I DONT KNOW ABOUT YOU, BUT THAT LEGIT SOUNDS LIKE SOMETHING YOU’D HEAR IN REAL LIFE. OR BETTER YET, A GENUINELY HILARIOUS COMEDIC TV SHOW. STILTED DIALOGUE WHO? MISS @ubemango SURE DOESNT KNOW THEM!

3). Nasty smut that pulls at your heartstrings. Example (taken from a scene where Yoongi “celebrates” his birthday with his wife *winks*)

It’s quick, like a flash of something sweet and you’re panting and sweating where Yoongi’s body meets yours. He still hasn’t pulled out. “Think this might be number two?”

You freeze. “You–really?”

You know he doesn’t want you to see but you feel him grin. “Yeah.”

And talks about trying again weren’t uncommon but they definitely weren’t put into action intentionally. You thought he was gonna come down your throat this morning. You’re trying not to cry. “T-Then–yeah–yeah, I hope so.” Yoongi turns your chin with a soiled finger. “Happy birthday.”

Now he’s beaming. “You make me the man I am today.”

And now you’re really crying. But he takes it in stride with a laugh and a tear of his, too.

Not gonna lie to you, the first time I read that scene I went from all ~sweaty~ to tearing up in nanoseconds. Yoongi’s THAT in love with his wife, and miss @ubemango delivered that emotion perfectly. Which brings me to my next point:

4). “SHOW, NOT TELL”. Lord, do I LOVE how miss @ubemango’s writing is the literal embodiment of that phrase. Example (taken from a scene where Yoongi tries His Absolute Best to make Soonbok finish her dinner):

“I know it looks gross but I really need you to eat this.”

Soonbok lifts her nose up. “No daddy.”

“But it tastes so good.” As good as steamed broccoli can get, and this far into dinner means it’s cold and extra unappetizing in Soonbok’s judgmental radar. Yoongi doesn’t look stressed but you think he’d rather pull his teeth. “Look, daddy will eat some. See?”

Even with his dramatic munching Soonbok looks unamused. “No!”

“Baby.”

“No daddy. No! I ‘on’t want it.”

You can’t tell me you didn’t feel joy from reading that.

5). BABY EXPERT. You love kids? Or, you love reading about kids? Then you’re going to LOVE This Tiny Space. Why, you ask? Because Miss @ubemango is somewhat of an expert when it comes to depicting babies/toddlers. Example (taken from a scene where baby Soonbok takes her first steps)

Soonbok’s not standing yet but she’s getting there. There’s spit running down her chin. Intervening with the bib might take her out of the determination that’s gotten through in her little body, though. You feel Yoongi freeze when she straightens up. “Mmmmmm!”

“Oh my god,” Yoongi says. “Do you think–”

Lala’s probably watching too. Soonbok bounces a little bit, squealing till she’s forced to take a step because she moved too hard to maintain what little balance her knees have. The stroller squeaks with the next step. You sit up with beckoning hands. “Can you come here, babes?”

She swerves hard at your call. Invigorated the way she gets when mommy and daddy are paying attention, and she giggles into a fall before getting up just as quick. She’s still trembling but she takes faster steps now. Yoongi snorts. “Look at her legs.”

You know. It’s waddling at best, and the uneven beat of her chunky legs is so cute you coo. “Oh my baby is walking. Come here!”

Honestly, this story was what incited my baby fever. Why can’t I marry this Yoongi and give birth to this particular baby? I hate my life.

Alright, so, that was getting WAY too long so I’m just going to end it right here. Nobody is going to read this unnecessarily long essay because it’s supposed to be a recommendation, but oh well. If I can convince even 1 person to give this universe a read, then my work here is done.

thanks to @jimlingss / @floralseokjin / @gukyi for tagging me <3 i actually didn’t do a LOT of fic writing this year because of my ~mental state~ but we can definitely work with what i got

first creation and most recent creation of 2020:

first creation was leap of faith and my most recent was christmas magic!

definitely my avatar the last airbender au !! it was an idea i had in my head for a few months so actually getting to sit down and write it was a lot of fun. it’s also the type of ‘drabble�� (6k drabble that is) that i would really love to make into a whole fleshed out 20k story. hopefully 2021 will give me the chance to do that! <3

battle of the brains probably because it ended up so much longer than i had planned for and i didn’t have the stamina to write such a big fic.

the art of war more by @kpopfanfictrash | i think Shanna changed the meaning of a college au when she wrote and posted this fic because it was truly one of the most well covered and most thorough fics i’ve read all year. i can’t even begin to imagine the amount of detail and thought that was put in constructing this story and how to write it in a way that doesn’t fEEL 40k. yeah Shanna’s really talented and that’s all i can say on that.

hulu & woohoo (from her netflix and chill series) by @1kook | can i just say that miss yami is so fucking talented and managed to create a whole series with two compelling characters in the midst of such a wonderfully constructed relationship that makes u want to die, cry, but be horny at the same time ?? just me ??? ok then!!

shield by @joonsgalore | this is such a well constructed fic that gives you sO MUCH YOU’LL WANT TO DIE IN A GOOD WAY !!! the development of the relationship between the characters is just chefs kiss A+ and i don’t want to spoil anything for anyone who hasn’t read this but the nsfw content?? let me just throw myself off a cliff because yes folks it’s that good.

The idea for TTINTY (which was originally titled The Things I Never Said) came to me after talking to a male friend about the whole No Nut November thing. I just found it funny and then my brain connected it to Jungkook (and more importantly Taehyung) and somehow... A story was made. What I initially wanted was more of a crack based fic (before I realised I’m not funny enough for that), which went something like this:

Premise: No Nut November + Jeongguk + Best Friends 2 Lovers

Jeongguk looks incredibly smug when he slides into the sit beside you, his hot dog leaking ketchup through the paper bag. He kicks your foot fondly as he shrugs off the thick black puffer jacket you're sure he stole from Yoongi's closet.

"Do you even taste anything beside ketchup on that thing?" You mumble through a mouth full of your noodles, in lieu of a greeting. The lack of nutritious food in his diet was starting to become concerning. You're starting to think his dick is covered in hot cheeto dust and that he nuts ketchup. Jeongguk rolls his eyes at your comment, unwrapping the vile thing with vigour. He takes a massive bite before he musters up a response.

There’s about 5k more words in the first draft version. But JK was definitely more of an idiot in that version. As you can see here in this lovely text exchange:

"You want to help?"

He nods slowly, like he's afraid you'll kick him out instead. You pause to think it over, pretending like you're considering telling him no when you already know you can't. Jeongguk waist with his breathe caught in his throat. He's requested for a lot tonight and he's terrified he's pushed the line with that one. But he can't help it. You look so pretty and soft with your legs spread apart and he just wants to touch. His fingers itch with that yearning. It doesn't help his dick has been neglected for over a week now. There's a tightness in his balls that makes him feel reckless.

"You don't have to touch me," You say, trying to deter yourself from exposing how much you would like Jeongguk's hands on you. "You could just jerk off over there."

That sounds like the most unappealing thing to Jeongguk right now, especially when you're right across the room, cunt wet and ready. "I could do that," He says, trying to bite down his desires. "If that's what you're more comfortable with."

"Okay," You say, throat dry.

"Okay," He replies, a hand settling on the waistband of his sweat. You watch him tug them down a little, revealing his black boxers and deep v-line that makes your mouth parched. You've never watched to touch another person so bad in your life.

I really was gonna release that and I realised I fucking hated it more than anything I’ve ever done. Leading to me rewriting it all over again (special thanks to my beta reader Myonni, very patient with me honestly).

I actually have a very detailed plan for this fic but writing it is hard because the words never sound right. I’ve bounced this idea on so many people (bless them) and every time something just feels off and missing no matter how I rearrange the story. Perhaps my heart is just not in it. This initial idea was so funny to me and I really wanted you guys to read a particular scene (it was about Nayoung.... I love her a lot actually). But for now the story can live on ao3. I might update sporadically but no promises.

Single words and keyboard smashes mean the world to me too !! Before I was a fic writer, I was just a silent reader. I always admired writers for the worlds they craft, the characters they develop, and the plots they devise, all for it to come together in one cohesive work of literature. Now that I have a vague understanding of what that’s like, I know that it’s nothing short of strenuous. Words are so powerful, and although I’m a really sensitive sap, I’ve read so many things that hit me to the core, and now I’m sure to tell the authors how much I enjoy their fics. If they went through hours (perhaps days/weeks/months) of drafting, writing, editing, and formatting, a quick comment from the reader really doesn’t hurt !! It’s the most rewarding thing a writer could ever ask for. As an amateur author myself, being on the receiving end is the thing that keeps me going !! I promise you, I don’t take any of it for granted. Your words seriously resonate with me, and it’s a huge motivator for me !! I hope that in the new year, I can work on new pieces for you all (as much as I don’t want to make up excuses, juggling life is not easy as a student!!) I always say that I write for myself, and as true as that is, I want to share my stories with you lovely people !! I pour my heart and soul into my work, and the build up of excitement is nothing if it means I can’t share it with someone else.
