Still thinking about none houses left grief, and while I understand where people are coming from, "it took me out of the world" is just... Really not a relevant criticism here. Like, that line is SUPPOSED to be jarring. It is supposed to be kind of darkly funny, but the point isnt for you to laugh. Its not trying to be a punchline. The point of that line IS to "take you out of the world" because the point is that *this world isn't what you thought it was.*

I wish real life academia was more like The Magnus Archives because I'd much rather face otherworldly evils than have my research blocked by INFINITE PAYWALLS. Jonathan Sims might've suffered immensely and nearly ended the world but at least he didn't have to cite inaccessible sources.

Daenerys targaryen is not ready for the kind of devotion and my freak at all, i am crazy about her and no one else can take her place in the asoiaf world
Oberyn would 100% apreciate my freak and the things we would do on those dornish quarters would be unholy
I thank you for your service in being a freak for both Danny and Oberyn.

Fic authors self rec! When you get this, reply with your favorite five fics that you've written, then pass on to at least five other writers! Spread the self-love 💞
@dangerpronebuddie also asked me to share. Thank you to both :)
I've been in fandom for a long time, so I'll pick my top 5 for my current obsession. All Buddie. This list changes often. lol
.
We Found Each Other (Over There)
A combat medic and a G.I. meet during one of the world’s greatest battles. A WWII European Theater based AU.
Trying Hard to Remember, Trying Hard To Forget
Eddie doesn’t remember the shooting and Buck is haunted by it. As they struggle with their feelings for each other, Eddie and Buck grapple with the realities of trauma recovery and the understanding that everyone heals at their own pace. Coda to 4.14.
bro·ken
adjective 1. having been fractured or damaged and no longer in one piece or in working order. 2. having given up all hope; despairing.
Forced to take shady side jobs to pay his bills, Evan Buckley doesn’t think he’s ever seen such rock bottom. Until he meets Eddie Diaz, a man even more desperate and alone. Season 3 AU.
Alone In The Dark With You
Buck couldn’t remain here alone with all his racing thoughts. Catastrophizing. That’s what his therapist called it. He had to move. He continued trying to dig his way with his good hand, but the way the rocks had fallen, if he removed one, another took its place. It was like he was inside an hourglass.
But he wouldn’t give up.
There. Was he hearing things? A scraping sound.
His adrenaline spiked. He pawed at the rocks again, because noise meant movement and movement meant—
“Buck?”
“Eddie?” Buck rasped.
He was alive! Eddie was alive.
(Or Buck and Eddie get trapped in a cave-in and things go from bad to worse.)
Cutting The Ties That Bind
Evan Buckley was a businessman, he had meetings and deadlines like everyone else. Sometimes he used intimation. While using the very same tactics he was trying to end while converting his family business into legitimate operations was a little hypocritical, it was the results that mattered.
Occasionally, he got threatened, but it was usually all hot air and ego. That all changed the day his breaks were tampered with. Enter Eddie Diaz, security specialist, who was not easily impressed by Buck’s expensive suits or financial conquests. That was okay. Buck enjoyed a challenge.
(The Mafia AU)
A little of everything :)

what inspires you to write/create?
is it an event in your life? a person in particular? not enough room in your brain so you have to put your ideas somewhere? i'm curious!
for me, i think what inspires me is my love of nature and my endless pool of ideas--but what keeps me writing is the joy of being in a different world :) one that i created! seeing how characters interact and function so smoothly like another person even though i am the one who wrote everything! such a rewarding process

🪲?
🪲 Recommend a great fic centered on your favorite character!
i’m going to go with equivalent exchange by scribblemetimbers! it’s a plotty, tim-centric, slightly left-of-canon au in which tim makes a deal with a crossroads demon to bring jason back to life, but of course things go sideways almost immediately. i love how tim’s resourcefulness and brilliance and sheer determination all shine in this story, and how the author really carves out a place in the worldbuilding/au elements that feel so tim-specific. it’s part 1 of a longer series and i’m very excited for more.

ok y'know what. I'm tired of all the same questions in ask games so I'm taking matters into my own hands
OC/Writing Art Asks
For the character:
Pencil: does this character have any "sketchy" habits? Have they ever broken the law? Do they regret it?
Pen: what's one minor moment your character regrets? A small mistake, but something they "can't erase"?
Paintbrush: How often does your character "brush over" conflict instead of facing it head on? Is there something specific they don't like to face, or do they avoid conflict as a whole?
Marker: what's one thing your character would never tattoo on their body, even if they were paid a million dollars for it?
Crayon: what was your OC like when they were four years old? Were they loud? Shy? Were they the resident "weird kid" or did they get along with others their age?
Colored Pencil: if given the choice, would this character splurge on an expensive (but potentially worthwhile) branded product, or buy a low-budget alternative even if the quality suffers?
Copics: what is this character's most expensive habit or hobby? Do they ever feel guilty about the money they spend on it?
Graphite: what's something decently common that your character does in a unique or different way? (like how graphite is present in all pencils, but not everyone uses pure graphite)
Charcoal: share any unique physical features about this character that are not scars or tattoos.
Tortillon: does your OC "blend in" with the people around them? Physically? Metaphorically?
Pastels: Give me three colors that best represent your OC. Now give me three colors that your OC likes best. Is there an overlap?
Chalk: what was one activity this character enjoyed with their sibling(s) as a kid? If they don't have siblings, what they did with their neighborhood friends
Eraser: what's one way this character has changed over time? Either over the course of their story, or over the course of designing them as an author.
Palette: list four of your character's primary skills, then share at least two ways these skills might blend or overlap
For the work:
Starry Night: are there any scenes in this work that take place at nighttime? Is this significant, or just the passing of time?
Mona Lisa: oh, it's the fanfic writer's favorite word. Do a find-and-replace on the word "smirk" and share any lines that pop up.
The Scream: are there any moments in this work that you think could scare a reader? Are there any moments where the characters themselves are profoundly scared?
Persistence of Memory: are there any moments in this work where a character's memory plays a strong role? Either an individual memory, or simply a character's ability to recall the past.
Girl With a Pearl Earring: are there any moments in this work where a character's clothing or accessories play a major role?
The Kiss: share your favorite kiss scene from this work. If there's no kiss scene, share your favorite moment of intimacy (romantic or platonic)
American Gothic: what's one relationship between characters in this work that you think people wouldn't expect? (i.e., how the people in American Gothic are not married, they're the painter's sister and dentist)
Guernica: look through a few of your imagery/descriptions in this work. Are they generally straightforward, or are they more "abstract"?
Wheatfield with Crows: are there any scenes in this work that involve birds? Do the birds play a definitive role, or are they simply part of the setting?
Woman with a Parasol: are there any moments in this fic that feel "blurry" to you? Is this a stylistic choice, or would you go back and clarify the descriptions if you were given the chance?
A Sunday Afternoon...: pick one "little moment" from this fic. How representative is it of the fic's tone and story as a whole?
Creation of Adam: choose one character that is not present at the beginning of this work. How did you introduce them into the story?
The Swing: are there any moments in this fic where the characters get to slow down and have fun? If not, why is that?
The Last Supper: does this fic incorporate any symbolism based on religion, theology, or mythology? If so, give an example.
For the author:
Paper: Who do you feel is your most two-dimensional or underdeveloped OC? Why is this? (including those that are still in development/haven't been written about yet)
Canvas: Do you ever "prep" your fics with outlines or warmups before you start writing, or do you just dive right in?
Graffiti: Have you ever had to research something that felt illicit or illegal for a fic? What was it?
Photography: What's one moment from any of your fics that you feel is preserved in your memory?
Clay: Do you usually take time to "sculpt" your OCs before you write them, or develop them as you write?
Film: Which one of your fics do you think would work best if turned into a movie? Who would direct it?
Adhesive: when you write, do you usually "stick" to one character or story for a while, or bounce around various characters and ideas?
Cricut: are there any characters you've had to "cut" from a story? Are there any moments/chapters/stories you've had to "cut" entirely?
Felting: how often do you include soft moments when you write? Do these moments play a role in the main plot, or do you include them as an escape from the rest of the story?
Weaving: are your works typically similar to one another? Pick two works, and share one similarity and one difference between them.
Finger Painting: share a small snippet from your earliest work (or the earliest that you can get back to). How would you rewrite it today? Either share the rewrite itself or just describe how you'd do it.
Creative!: free space! share something you've been dying to share about your writing! Could be an OC that never gets the limelight, a moment you were proud of, or anything else you'd like to share

Fic authors self rec! When you get this, reply with your favorite five fics that you've written, then pass on to at least five other writers. Let's spread the self-love 💞
Tagged by @2nd2ndalto. This is tricky, because my favorite is always either the one I'm working on or the one I end up reading for some reason. What I really should do is write which I think are my five favorites, and then go back to see if I've answered this before (I'm sure I have) and see how often I say the same fics. Or if I never say the same fics.
Here's the ones that caught my attention while trying to find five favorites, which means they're my favorites today:
Personally, I Blame the Coffee (Victor/Yuuri, Coffeeshop AU, one-shot) It was so much fun to write this cracky little one-shot. I'm still impressed I go the whole fic without Victor knowing Yuuri's name, despite his many, many attempts to learn it.
Crossovers (Eric Bittle/Jack Zimmerman, AU where Bittle is a figure skater & Jack is JJ Leroy's cousin) Eric skates to Beyonce's Halo, I regret nothing. There's more to the fic, but honestly what else do you need?
A Fiddle in the Band (Johnlock, AU Country Music, unfinished) Oh, my poor semi-abandoned Fiddle 'Verse. I still think the Ballad of Gloria Scott would make a pretty good country song, if it was anyone but me singing it.
Dangerous Games (Mystrade, Historical AU where the Germans won WW2) I love this one. It's despair and heartbreak and loss and it's probably riddled with historical inaccuracies but I love Mycroft in it. Of all the Mystrades I've written, this one's my favorite.
Pages from a Broken Book (Ten2/Rose, post-JE in Pete's World) Basically I write about my experience with culture shock for fourteen stories. You know, as you do.
Tagging without pressure to:
@paula-in-dreamland
@jlrpuck
@earlgreytea68
@nautilicious
@221b-hound

Because the original had a lot of plot holes and wasn't satisfying.
What to expect:
1. Actually tells the Once-ler's whole story from beginning to end (no Ted)
2. Gives Once-ler more agency and develops his motives beyond "my family made me do it."
3. Includes "You're all going to jail!" scene
4. Animals die/the stakes are raised
5. Logical explanations for why they couldn't just plant more trees or use a ladder, why Once-ler didn't just plant the seed himself, etc.
6. The Lorax is actually significant
7. Characters like Once-ler's dad, Norma, and O'Hare are woven in, but don't steal the spotlight. (Example: Norma isn't an annoying girlfriend who steals the role of the Lorax).
8. NO ANNOYING OCS, MARY SUES, OR STUPID ROMANCES!!!!!!!!!! Just a straightforward, comprehensive narrative of what the movie should've been like.
This entire novel is complete and has been through multiple drafts. If you follow it, you can be sure that it does have an ending and the author knows where it's going with foreshadowing and extra plot twists. Chapters will be released each week.

Do any other authors be them original authors or fanfic authors, sit and daydream and plot how best they are going to devastate their readers in the upcoming plot and cackle like a mad witch while doing so?
