Today’s #MondayMaker is Michelle Mischkulnig, an Australian textile artist who’s sense of color and play radiates in her work. “For me textile art is like an adventure, I allow the materials I am using to tell their story through the way they fold, add colour, shine and sparkle. Raw edges and dimensions can change my direction, I never quite know where each journey will end. I wake each day with a sense of anticipation of what will I be creating.” While any artist can appreciate playfulness and curiosity in their work, it can be quite hard to allow the uniqueness of each material to shape your final product; to completely let the material to lead the way. I love this sense of adventure and action in Michelle’s work. It feels like a journey. And anyone who knows me knows I love bright colors and soft things!
