Alright….i really wasn’t going to share my story as I’m afraid someone will find out it’s me….but then realized, everyone will find out anyways.
So this past weekend I took a mini vacation….decided to go somewhere nice and warm. Got on the plane early Friday morning and flew off to warmer places. Got off the plane, got my convertible rental car and went and checked in at the hotel. By 11am, I was sitting on the beach outside the hotel enjoying a nice beverage and relaxing in the sun. Before heading down, I had been talking to a guy on Grindr and agreed to invite him to the hotel for some fun once I was checked in and settled. At 1pm, Austin arrived and I met him in the lobby. He was about 6’2”, 195lbs, short blond hair and wearing a baseball cap backwards. He was wearing a black tank top, white board shorts and some flip flops! He looked like a typical surfer guy. We decided we’d spend a little time on the beach before heading up to the room for some private fun. We went out, dropped our things, stripped off our shirts, he grabbed my hand and we ran into the water. After cooling down a bit, we made our way back up to our spot and noticed a police officer standing by our things.
“What seems to be the problem officer?” I asked.
“Are you Austin James?” Replied the officer.
“Yeah, is there some sort of problem?” Austin chimed in.
“ Turn around and put your hands behind your back!” The officer said in a very authoritative voice, and as he snapped his cuffs around Austin’s wrists and ordered him to sit on the ground.
“What is going on?” I said.
He replied, “and who are you?”
Not thinking, I replied back “his boyfriend!” And Austin had this smirk on his face.
“I’ll need to search your things!” The officer stated.
He picks up my backpack first and after opening the middle compartment, he pulls out a hand gun.
My jaw drops! He puts it back in the bag and pulls his gun out and points it at me…”give me your hands!”
I put my hands in the air and I quickly reply “where did that come from?”
He grabs my left hand and pulls it behind my back and then the right, securing them with hinged handcuffs.
He then pats me down, and as he passes over the front of the shorts states, “feels like someone is enjoying this!”
He grabs Austin and lifts him to his feet. I look at Austin and ask him “where did that gun come from, and how’d it get in my bag?”
Before he could say anything, the officer grabs us by our arms, tells us to shut up and starts walking us up to his cruiser outside the front of the hotel. He then tells us to sit on the curb, and tells us to keep our mouths shut and then reads us our Miranda rights.
About 10 minutes later a police van shows up. Two officers get out and grab each of us by our arms and yank us over to the back of the van and again pat us down, not that we really had anywhere to hide anything!
I was helped into the back of the van first, then Austin. He slid in next to me and the doors were slammed shut placing us in total darkness.
“What the fuck is going on Austin?”
“You told me your fantasy about being arrested and spending time in jail, I figured I’d make it a reality for you!” He replied. He then turned himself away from me and reached back with his hands and started rubbing my groin and my already hard cock!
I couldn’t believe what was happening, but I was so turned on!
At this point, the van started moving…..

Lance Letscher’s collages are accumulations of tiny bits of paper taken from a myriad of sources. His compositions, driven by a piecemeal aesthetic with a meticulously obsessive sensitivity to color and content, evoke both the expansiveness of the cosmos and the complex detail of microcellular life forms. Crafted with a rich and vibrant vocabulary eliciting discovery by his viewers, Letscher’s works engage us with their poetry and intricacy.
Since the late 1980’s, Letscher has used the raw materials of wood, marble, old books and paper in such a manner as to remove them from their original context. As a youth, he cleaned out vacated rental properties owned by his grandparents and developed a curious habit of imagining other people’s lives from the traces left behind. Trained as a printmaker, Letscher’s early career focused on intensely conceptual sculptures of marble or wood: a doll-sized marble wheelchair, a dwarfed piano of wood, a rumpled child’s pillow in marble. In the mid-1990s Letscher shifted from his conceptual sculptures towards paper and collage but took away from his experience as a sculptor incredible patience and ability to focus on labor-intensive compositions. He began to collect antique paper, ledgers, old notebooks, diaries, letters, record covers, magazines and books from thrift stores, junk-shops, used-booksellers, and even dumpsters.
He meticulously organizes and stores these weathered materials, which he later surgically deconstructs and deploys, creating new narratives from shards of a memory. Letscher’s geometric and contemplative juxtapositions of color and pattern call to mind the classic craft of quilt making, which he has cited as an influence. Other frequent comparisons are to a wide and varied roster of other artists: Josef Albers, Piet Mondrian, James Castle, and Martín Ramírez, among others. Letscher’s most recent works explore notions of locomotion, technology, and the creative impulse at the heart of human nature. Letscher re-visits his sculptural roots as his collages leap into three dimensions, using vibrant colors and letters to cover the surfaces of such varied subjects as guns, motorcycles, rockets, tools and toy planes. A diligent and nearly constant worker, Letscher follows, with enthusiasm and gratitude, wherever his source materials lead him.
Lance Letscher attended the University of Texas where he received both his Bachelor of Fine Arts and his Master of Fine Arts. He later apprenticed for Amado Peña, an artist known for his Southwestern-style prints. He currently lives and works in Austin, Texas. His work is held in public and private collections around the country and has been reviewed in Art in America, The New York Observer, and Harper’s Magazine, among other publications. A full-length monograph of his work, Lance Letscher: Collage, was published in 2009.

18. ValuJet flies for the first time (October 26)
ValuJet's first flight was from Atlanta to Tampa on October 26, 1993. By 1994, the planes with their silly mascot on them had made 15 emergency landings! 1 On June 8, 1995 one of their ancient planes had an engine fire on the tarmac in Atlanta.
We all know what happened to ValuJet just 2 1/2 years later.

A Little Catch Up on My Life and Travels
My last post was about selling our beloved place in Mexico. I haven't posted since then, but I've been busy, both with closing down the business, and then taking to the road.
I'm writing this from a hotel room in San Antonio, Texas. We have just finished a 5 day vacation with family, and my husband and his brother attended 3 days of the Formula One in Austin. They are very close to each other, and I think they enjoyed everything about their 3 days together. My sister in law and I are also close, and we enjoyed hanging out: there was a day of walking and checking out the River Walk, and a couple of days of relaxing and reading, (things we both enjoy).
Today we parted ways, with my BIL and SIL returning home and Craig and I staying one more night then flying onward to Mexico to meet up with my dad and a friend. We are headed to the town where we have spent 16 happy years, but this time we're not staying at our own place. Instead we are staying with our former property manager who also has rental apartments. While we will be doing many fun things with our local friends, we will NO be painting or fixing things, (a staple of our previous trips). It will be a different trip for sure.
However, I started my travels the last week of August, when my sister invited me to accompany her and my niece back to Ontario, (where my niece attends university). While I've passed through Toronto, both just within the airport, and by vehicle, I've never actually spent any time there, so I jumped at the opportunity. It was a fun and busy 5 days, sightseeing, catching a Blue Jays baseball game, and touring the infamous Kingston penitentiary, as well as getting my niece settled into her new house.
In between the two above trips, we took our travel trailer down the Washington and Oregon coasts, before cutting into more central California to Yosemite National parks. We stayed at both National Parks and State Parks, and boy to do I have a lot to say about those...however, that will be in another post. We had two nights in the San Francisco Bay area, staying in fabulous new regional park in the East Bay, where we spend an unexpected $900+USD when the water pump, followed by the serpentine belt gave out in our truck! Fortunately, we were in a big centre with lots of access to mechanics and parts!
We picked up friends who arrived from Scotland and together the 4 of us made our way back to Canada, via wine tastings and microbreweries!
We loved catching up with family en route, and it was fun to play tour guide to our Scottish friends! We took them out to my favourite place in the world, (the west coast of Vancouver Island), as well as visiting the famous Butchart Gardens, (in the POURING rain), finishing with 2 nights in Vancouver.
So...I've definitely not been lollygagging or wallowing in sorrow over the sale of our place, although when I see it tomorrow evening for the first time since the sale, I may have a wee wallow. Until next time...
