Ian is a concert photographer and Mickey is the bass player in an up and coming metalcore band. Ian later realises he spent a lot of time taking pictures of the bassist and can't wait until he gets to see him live again.

3, 7, 8, and 10 for the asks
answers below the cut
3 ~ playlists
oh god i have so many playlists lmfao. so i'll name every single one ;)
the main one i listen to is called innocent school girl mix and it's every single metal song i listen to with some other songs that just fit the playlist
and then i have 9 playlists that are separated by genre of metal. i have death, black, deathcore/metalcore, goregrind (and really any other grind), slam, melodeath, nu metal, doom (called whimsical asf 😭), and to top it off an entire playlist dedicated to wifey, alissa white-gluz
i have one called divorced dad that is really all the rock music i listen to. i have an ethel cain playlist also.
one that i never thought i'd reveal to the public is one called twinks. it is full of 5sos and 1d... cause i've been a fan since i was 4. somethings just never die down.
i have one called oldies that is filled with old hollywood broadway music and classics in general. don't hate lol
i have one called wyoming territory that is country. once again, don't hate. i like never listen to it and i promise i'm cool
there's one called punky which is pretty self explanatory, it's punk. theres hell yeah which is...chappell roan, sabrina carpenter, charli xcx, the dare, you get it.
i have emo which is basically just the emo trinity (marry me frank iero). i have mcr and fall out boy and i used to have a p!atd one but why have a playlist for just two albums?
also one for the cure cause...robert smith rocks. please listen to high by the cure, you won't regret it. best cure song ever
and finally, big minge energy. i mentioned it on my blog once but it's midwestern emo with weezer because i thought they worked well together. specifically pinkerton though
7 ~ celeb crushes
okay theres a lot.
my number one forever has been duff mckagan. i saw him for the first time when i was 4 and my mom says my eyes widened so much she thought they'd fall out. what can i say? i'm just cool like that.
but soon after my king ashton irwin followed. i'm a pretty diehard 5sos fan and uhhh...ashton stole my heart right away. that sexy ass aussie can take me away any day.
i saw frank iero at a young age too and fell in love. he's just so fucking cool.
i first knew i was bisexual when i saw pamela anderson. that woman...holy shit. more on her in my next post cause someone asked if i've met celebrities.

8 ~ languages
i am a PROUD polyglot. i speak six lanugages, 4 fluently. my first language is english but i started learning russian at a really young age, as that's what is spoken at my house 50% of the time
once i was pretty good at russian, my mom started teaching me finnish and let me tell you, not a fun ride. i got it so confused with russian and i sucked at it. now that i'm older, i'm way better though.
i am fluent in those languages and dutch. i learned dutch because some of my family hails from nijmegen which is like the most beautiful place on earth. i'm happy to say i was actually born there. but i stayed there for like a month before leaving.
i speak a decent amount of norwegian and french but there's still a lot of grammar mistakes i make. and that's it!
obviously, as russian, finnish, etc. aren't my first languages, it's likely i'll make SOME SORT of grammar mistake lol.
if you're lazy and didn't want to read that, here's a list
fluent:
english
russian
finnish
dutch
decent amount:
french
norwegian
also i absolutely love getting messages or asks in different lanugaes so if you speak them, don't be afraid to talk to me in that language.
10 ~ fav book
this is a hard one. i'd have to say a little life by hanya yanagihara or don't want you like a bestfriend by emma alban.
i'm a pretty avid reader but those happen to be my favourite, right now at least.

Stand Atlantic - Was Here
Two years ago, Stand Atlantic dropped one of my favorite albums of that year, and maybe even of the 2020s as a whole — f.e.a.r. Standing for “fuck everything and run,” that record really blew me away when I heard it in 2022. It was a refreshing dose of pop-flavored pop-punk with some pop-rock, hip-hop, and hardcore thrown in. It was a unique album, especially for a genre that doesn’t like to be unique. I absolutely loved it, and I couldn’t wait for the follow-up. Now we got it in the form of Was Here, and I had no idea this was coming out soon, unless I just wasn’t paying attention. I was instantly excited about this, because if their last album was any indication, this thing was going to be just as good, if not better.
I’ve given this album a bunch of listens throughout the last week, and I’ve got some mixed feelings on this album, but I do love it a lot. It’s a fantastic album, but not without its issues. Their last album, for as much as I loved it, had a couple of small issues, too, but I’ve been going back and forth on whether or not Was Here is better than f.e.a.r. I came to the conclusion that it’s not better overall, but they’ve improved quite a bit on other stuff. I would definitely listen to this if you enjoyed f.e.a.r, but I would also go into this album with an open mind and realistic expectations, especially if you loved their last album as much as I did.
Let’s start with what they’ve improved on, and it comes down to two key things: their sound and their guest features. There wasn’t much you could really do to their sound, but this album ups the ante with how unique and eclectic they could get. This album features metalcore, pop-punk, pop-rock, straight up pop, some R&B, trap, and many more styles of music that really shows the band taking on unique and interesting influences. Each song has its own feel, whereas their last album had a few songs that fit one style, you can’t say that here. No two songs sound alike, and that’s not something I can say for a lot of albums this year.
They also make use of the guests on here, but there aren’t a whole lot. Singer Sueco is on “Nose Bleed,” which is a fun pop-punk banger, and the song “GIRL$” features PVRIS and Bruses. The latter artist I know nothing about, but PVRIS is a solid pop band, and this song is basically a pop-rock cut. The last guest is progressive metalcore band, and fellow Aussies, Polaris on “Criminal,” and that’s a really cool and inventive pop-punk meets metalcore track. Most of the song is an upbeat pop-punk track with a cool riff running through it, but it suddenly erupts to a metalcore bruiser in the bridge with some harsh vocals and an awesome breakdown. They didn’t quite utilize the few guest spots on f.e.a.r, but they don’t miss out this time.
Now, like with their body of work, they’ve got some stuff that’s always works, such as their vocalist being one of the best in the scene (and she sounds even better throughout this album), or the band being in top form throughout the album. They’re chameleons of the pop-punk scene, being able to change their sound at a moment’s notice, most of the time in the same song at a later point. It’s absolutely impressive, but that also leads me to the issues I have with this album, and there are two big ones: its eccentricities and its lyrics.
As much as I love how unique and off the wall this album is, that also comes to bite itself in the ass, because this album is a little too eccentric for its own good. It would work a bit better if the album was a bit shorter, but it’s around 42 minutes, which is a good length on its own, it’s just a bit long for an album with a lot jammed packed into it. With more unique albums, you almost need a shorter runtime to help with how overwhelming it can be. The album’s sounds don’t feel so jarring, but it’s when each song is so different, it can be a bit of musical whiplash. I love the unpredictable sound it has, but at that same time, this album has its clear highlights and some lowlights.
I don’t think anything is bad here, make no mistake, but the highs and lows are more noticeable when everything is so unique and different. I can see this album being a lot for some people, especially people that just wanted a catchy pop-punk album, but for what it’s worth, this album is a lot of fun. Its unique sound is a great aspect, but it also brings it down slightly because it’s a little too eccentric at times.
The other main issue I have with the album are its lyrics, and while I enjoyed the band’s weird and twisted sense of humor on their last album, I don’t quite like the lyrics as much here. The lyrics are played less for laughs and they’re less cheeky, but they’re played straight here and they just aren’t that good. A handful of songs have some solid lyrics, but a good example is a song like “GIRL$,” which has a good message but reads like a “girlboss” anthem and it’s a bit cringy. Some tracks work wonderfully, like “Love U Anyway,” and “17,” but a lot of others just don’t stick the landing for me. They don’t hinder the album enough that I hate the album, or even dislike it, but it makes me not want to go back to it that much.
I still love this album, and while it does improve on some things, it also takes a couple steps back, so it’s not quite on the same level as their last album, although it’s close. The vocals, hooks, and instrumentation is awesome, being some of the most inventive of their career, as well as this record being the most unique of their career so far. Unfortunately, it’s uniqueness is a little much at times, because of how each song is completely different, and the lyrics aren’t anything special, despite not being horrible. They don’t have that cheeky sense of humor they did on their last album that made them so fun. This is still a really good and unique album, so if you want a unique pop-punk album, I definitely would listen to this one.

I never particularly liked hardcore, metalcore, emo, or adjacent genres, even as a teenager when they were charting. The issue I think was that I was only exposed to US bands. It was even harder then to discover music; beyond the radio, I was getting reccs from forums, music stores, and Rage. Something about the whiny, nasal vocal style in a US accent sounds horrible to me. However! Australian accents are naturally nasal and kinda whiny. So, take metalcore, and slap an Aussie accent on that bad boy, you've really got something. It just sounds right. One of the few places you can hear Australians singing their their actual accents without it sounding bizarre.

i am a big big fan of emo music (i know this term is very broad) and formula one as you can tell from the profile! in terms of ‘emo’ music, i usually gravitate towards post/pop punk, metalcore, hardcore, grunge etc. in my spare time i try and catch gigs that come to australia. i just recently went to good things in december 2022 and knotfest in 2023!
back in the day i had an old tumblr account where i wrote fanfic for like of mice and men and we came as romans that got super popular but i was a minor and it was embarrassing lol. i also have a wattpad account with some books that have a fair amount of reads (message me if you like greys anatomy xoxo)
my team in formula one is ferrari which is a little bit rough at the moment but oh well. i am a big big leclerc fan and honestly believe i could pull him (same with pedro pascal) but of course being an aussie we all love our man danny ric.
in my spare time im a bit of a gym girly, i read a lot and i love to write too.

Wow, this is actually so hard.
13.Peculiar sound to me is hard, but the one that's the most different from the Kpop/Metalcore is HornBag by Play lunch its so funky and very Aussie.
21. I have no idea. Probably Elucid by Sleep Token. Its been by favourite song for a while now and until Skz realise Hop it'll probably still be that.
Thank you, it was fun to go through my list 🥰

DEICIDE - Banished by Sin
Tumblr media
