where: Golden Hour Lounge who: @rxleyanthony
Bobbi sat a ways away from the door, wringing the ends of her hair out with a towel she'd been able to find. Eyes danced across the dimly lit space in an attempt to distract her from the tiniest bit of guilt that lingered in the back of her mind. She'd been on her way to meet up with Finn so the two could... snuggle as a way to wait out the storm.
I'm leaving now.
The last text she'd sent before she realized the lines began to fail. A fact she'd learned when she found out she would not be able to reach his apartment once the weather got so bad she couldn't see out of the windshield of her car. She'd waited it out for a few moments, hoping there'd be a lapse in the rain, but alas... There wasn't.
As she people-watched, occasionally sending Finn another text in hopes that cell service was miraculously back on, she noticed a young woman walking towards the entrance. God, she hoped she wasn't about to go outside in this shit. Bobbi shot up from where she sat, a brisk walk toward her. Just as the other girl was at the door, Bobbi pushed herself in front of her, arms folded across her chest and a scowl settled on her features. "Uhm.. Hi? Going somewhere?"

"Come on, just one bar'll do."
Tumblr media
His attempts to reason with his phone produced no results, the device as good as a brick still with no connection to service or the internet. Perfect. Just what he needed after the lights had gone down inside the Lounge. He had warned that it seemed like no one would be able to leave and had volunteered to go outside to confirm that, and now he was certain that would be the case.
The weather was worse than it had been when he stepped inside the place a half hour prior, and there wasn't a soul to be found walking the sidewalks -- except for one that he could just about make out in the distance.
He pocketed his phone and shielded his eyes from the rainfall with his flattened palm, squinting to make sure he wasn't seeing something imaginary. No, it was definitely a person, and worse than that he's certain he knows exactly who it is.
"Bobbi! Yo, Bobbi!" In a less stressful situation, he might have joked oh no, she got AirPods in, she can't hear me but the chill he already felt settling in from being drenched in the downpour didn't have him in a joking mood. When his shouts didn't receive so much as a head turn of acknowledgement, he moved his hands to his face, his index finger and thumbs touching as he cupped around his mouth like it might somehow make his voice carry over the howl of the wind.
Tumblr media
"BOBERT! WHY THE FUCK ARE YOU OUTSIDE?"
He was bridging the distance between them then as he approached her, already having decided that if she hadn't heard that then he was just going to grab her like Pennywise without the balloons and haul her into the Lounge as if it was his own safezoned sewer.

Dallas hadn't meant to stare, but he felt like he was after he found himself peering at the woman for the second time in five minutes. He knew her face, but not in a way that he could immediately identify her and it had been plaguing him on and off ever since it became clear that neither he nor anyone else would be leaving the Golden Lounge for the foreseeable.
With time starting to feel like it was now crawling by, he decided to put an end to his own wondering, approaching her instead by the bar.

After practically ringing out her hair and clothes in the bathroom, Wren stepped out just in time for the goddamned power to go out. Perfect. A tiny part of her was glad she was at least here where Dallas was but...this was different. It's not like he was here for her.... especially since he was a firefighter now. He was practically a part of the law now. He was all cleaned up and respectable and she shouldn't be messing up his life- his apparently really good life. She'd gotten stuck in her thoughts as she tried to follow the dim lights in the main room, so much so that she almost smacked right into someone, "Shit--sorry. Yeah..fine. Just uh...trying to figure out my way around here. Especially in the dark."

Amaya heard the rain come down and immediately felt like something was off, then the lights flickered and the power went out. Amaya was grateful she paid for the generator upgrade. The generator was mostly to keep the drinks and food cool, and gave little light to the area. She searched her office for her flashlight and then turned it on, looking around her office for her emergency kit, it wasn’t much but a bigger light and batteries would help. She walked out into the main floor looking around at her staff and patrons. “Is everyone okay?” She asked moving to grab some candles from behind the bar.

EVENT 003 {MARCH 24- APRIL 1st} AURORA BAY STORM
Aurora Bay has always been toted as a paradise, a place that barely ever sees cloudy skies, much less a rainstorm. But over the past few days, news stations have been reporting of a storm that was estimated to pass over the town. The residents, however, are blindsided with just how bad it will be.
Due to the town's proximity to the ocean, what was just going to be a rainstorm became much, much worse. Crashing waves will send water and debris into the closest residencies of the ocean but stores and buildings that are more inland will still feel the affects. And due to the powerful, gusting winds, power lines will be knocked out, cutting off cell service and plunging a lot of the town into darkness.
Residents will be advised to shelter in place, whether that be with loved ones or even amongst strangers in a safe space. Regardless of where you are, we urge everyone to stay off the streets and stay safe until this passes.
OOC INFO UNDER THE CUT
OOC INFO:
Here's our next event! We absolutely want people to plot with this one, so much so that we want this to be collaborative.
We will have five safe zones, places away from the ocean that will open their doors for people looking for cover, that if you want your character to be a part of, send us their names and we will randomize them, essentially placing random characters together to encourage plotting and writing with those you may otherwise not have anything in common with! We will accept character names to randomize until Wednesday. On Thursday we will post the list of who's where so you all can have time to plot. Again, this is completely voluntary!
Other than those spots, characters can be trapped at work or at home and of course we encourage plotting for that as well for threads.
Aurora Bay Drive, being right on the beach, and establishments on the waterfront will get the worst of it, but damage will be done to businesses and homes all around town. Ocean Crest Apartments, being the furthest from the ocean, will ultimately be the safest place to be (albeit without power). However, wherever the residents find themselves is where they'll be the rest of the night.
For the safe zones, characters can of course be there already when the storm hits! However, if you have a character that you're unsure of where to put them/just want to drum up a little plotting and drama, again just message us their names and we'll plop them into one of our five locations!
Extras:
During the course of this week leading up to the storm, there will be gustier winds and cloudier skies, all signs of a storm approaching.
In game, the storm is Friday night. The dash will be open for event posts starting Friday at 11am CST.
Power will be lost in the town in game from Friday night until the early hours of Sunday morning. This included cell service. The storm itself will clear in game by Saturday morning and by then people can of course go outside
Three open starters can be posted off the bat, after that please reply to those before making your own! all threads should be tagged aurorabay.storm and should be labeled with location.
Morning After posts on the dash can begin on Monday the 27th (but of course storm posts can continue throughout the week!)
If in a safe zone, please make sure to use the tags below for your threads
ALL STRUCTURAL DAMAGE AND INJURIES M U S T BE APPROVED BY THE ADMINS. We don't want thirty characters in the hospital with broken bones and every store in town shattered, so we will accept damage/injury plots at our discretion. (Scrapes and light injuries, and mild dents and dings to places are of course okay, but anything major needs to be approved first. Any questions or if unsure, please just ask!)
The Safe Zones:
All-Nighter Diner (aurorabay.diner)
Aurora Bay College (aurorabay.college)
Golden Hour Lounge (aurorabay.lounge)
Tidal Wave Music Shop (aurorabay.music)
Aurora Bay Vet Clinic (aurorabay.vet)

There was no time to think on the serendipity of the pair of them united again by chance via a knock on the door right door at the wrong time, because any peace her unexpected presence brought him was instantly dispelled along with the sound of glass shattering.
She jumped and he stepped forward instinctively, his body a shield between hers and anything that might hurtle towards them.
Better him than her, he thought -- there were some things that even time couldn't change.
Tumblr media
"Sure is, the password is Stop Going Outside, For The Love Of Fuck. We're workshopping a shorter version." He tells her, trying to keep it lighthearted though he felt anything but. Between Wren and Bobbi picking the worst possible time for a wander and Amaya taking on the weight of the entire congregation of the Lounge, it was clear to Dallas that he was in for a long night.
Life was so much simpler when fending for himself meant only caring for himself too.
"C'mon," His left hand was at her lower back while his right hand propped open the door to the Lounge for her to join him and the rest inside. "I've got some spare shit I keep in Amaya's office, you can change into it if you want. Just don't tell anyone else because I didn't offer it to them."
Being a firefighter meant doing what he could to help in a crisis was becoming second nature to him -- but that didn't mean he was going to just part with his favorite burnt orange hoodie with Texas on the front for just anyone.
This was hardly the first torrential downpour Wren had dealt with in her life, but it had been the first one that made her phone start blaring with an emergency alert and made it seem like the goddamned apocalypse was suddenly happening in this quaint little beach town. Perfect. And what made it even worse was not having an umbrella and no way of getting around other than on foot as she stupidly thought she could handle it so she left her job, figuring getting wet while walking for all of ten minutes wouldn't be that big a deal.
Except somewhere along the way trees had fallen and fucking power lines and electricity poles were in the streets and the wind was strong and the rain was blinding and..okay. Maybe she should have stayed her ass in the music store. But...but it was okay. She'd be okay. She just needed to find a place to head into and wait it out. No biggie...right? Except the last four stores she'd gone to were all closed up, and she wasn't even sure what street she was on anymore, and Wren was both pissed off and scared because she'd only been here for all of a month so she had no idea where she was or what the hell was happening....
Knocking on the fifth (sixth?) door and yelling out for anyone inside, Wren jumped as the door miraculously opened. Thank god...-- The thought died off as she looked up, her entire expression falling into one of shock as she saw who was there. Someone who, for the second time in her short amount of time living here, was on the other side of the door...and was saving her. "D-Dallas...?" She breathed, a tinge of unease in her voice because she was drenched (and shaking) but right now even the entire town going to hell behind her didn't matter because he was here...
Her thoughts screeched to a halt as the unmistakable sound of glass shattering happened behind her and she looked to the street, seeing a large tree branch had shattered the windows of a nearby car, making her jump a bit. She tried to stamp it down though, closing her eyes for a second and swallowing. "S-So is...i-is there a secret password to come in, or...?"

Following the girl towards the back of the lounge she took in her surroundings with sharp eyes, there were other people there but so far no one she recognised. Great, getting stuck in some random place with a load of strangers, that was her idea of a good Friday night. At least it looked like she’d managed to land somewhere with vodka, small wins. Starting to dry her red hair carefully with the towel she was passed, patting at her face so as not to displace the make up more than it no doubt already was. Fuck this was a nightmare. A loud crash from outside made her start, turning to look at the door they’d just come through, but no tree had come through the roof. Yet. “Oh you’re fucking kidding me.” Instantly pulling her own phone out, seeing her last three texts hadn’t gone through. One to her mother, one to Axel, and one to a friend in New York. All had apparently been undelivered. “You trying to get hold of family or something?” Her voice laced with a thin layer of interest, if she was going to be forced into this situation she might as well be cordial. With Sloane that was often the best you could hope for.
Tumblr media
Amaya cleared her throat to try not and give in to the need to bend over and catch the breath she couldn’t seem to catch. When she asked for the towels Amaya nodded. “Follow me.” She exhaled walking slowly towards the back, the dim light leading the way. “Nice to meet you Sloane. The towels are back here. I wish I could say how long this is going to last but I am unsure. But uh yes this is my place.” She moved to the restroom in her office and returned with two towels. “Here you go.” She said using the other to dry herself off. Leaning against the desk she picked up her phone and hit speed dial two, which was for Axel. “Dammit, looks like the phones are down.” She frowned, she really hoped he, and all of her people were okay.

Riley was out and about, noticing the clouds change in the sky, but it didn't bother her any. She kept walking around, feeling a few raindrops fall on her forehead, the winds change direction, it still didn't phase her. Nothing but a normal rainy day. She would think to herself. She wasn't the type of person to pay attention to the news, so she didn't know of the.. potential threat of a bad storm truly happening, which it was.
Riley however kept walking alongside the pavement, eyes going to people running into buildings, her left brow raising. "It's just a little bit of rain.." she muttered to herself. Rumbling in the sky echoed throughout Aurora Bay, lighting flashing behind the thick, dark clouds, that caught Riley's attention now. She was never fond of storms.. so when it started to thunder or lightning, that was when she would get worrisome.
The clouds grew heavier before it suddenly, almost in a blink of an eye, started to downpour, Riley getting soaked. "Shit." She said out loud, eyes going to The Golden Hour Lounge. Her brows lifted a bit, she knew she needed a safe place to go, and that was the closest option. She may be impulsive, but she isn't that dumb. She knew it wouldn't be smart to head home in this weather.
Without any hesitation, Riley ran to the entrance, heading inside. She stood there at the door, water dripping onto the floor before exhaling shakily through her nose. She was able to relax.. or try to at least. Soon, she saw Amaya walk around, asking if everyone was okay. "Yeah, just drenched!" Riley called out, walking over to the bar and sitting down. "Pretty crazy, am I right? I mean, I knew it was gonna rain but not this bad." She laughed a bit awkwardly. People probably already knew that there was going to be a big storm, Riley was just one of the odd ones out that didn't watch the news.

Riley glared up at the woman, a stranger.. calling her stupid? I mean.. she knew it wasn't the smartest idea but she was young, still wreckless, even if she was an adult. Rye wanted to do things to keep her from being bored to death- hardcore or not. Sadly, her boredom wasn't going to go away anytime soon. Definitely knowing that this woman wasn't going to leave her side now.
Tumblr media
Riley kept glaring, furrowing her brows before she huffed again. She knew she wasn't able to walk out the door. "Lucky me.." She grumbled under her breath, pursing her lips a little as she looked away, shrugging her shoulders. 'She's a bit intimidating.. so I'd rather not piss her off.. so behave Rye.. behave.' Riley thought to herself, hesitating but she ended up walking to the seat the woman pointed to, sitting down with a loud exhale. "Happy now, old lady?"
Bobbi couldn't help but let out a snort when the girl looked so obviously miffed, which, yeah, she'd just been called a dumbass by a stranger. But, she was being a dumbass, confirmed when she had made her little comment about wanting to check out the waves. Bobbi deadpanned at the woman, confusion and judgment painting her features. "You don't have a death wish but also wanna check out the water. Got it. You are stupid." She flashed her a thumbs up, a sardonic smile.
"Good thing I'm not your mother, because I wouldn't raise my children to be so reckless and have a disregard for their own safety." Twenty-three and she still wanted to go outside? God, what was with these younger generations and extreme thrill-seeking. Oh god, now she sounded soooo.. old. "Nah, I don't think I will." She offered the younger woman an arched brow. "So, either you pop a squat next to me all night, or I'm going to stay right here. Either way, you get me as a perpetual thorn in your side all night."
Tumblr media
"How lucky for you."

Riley stared at the woman, oddly intimidated.. because I mean.. it's Bobbi.. before she looked offended at her from being called stupid. "I.. Excuse me?" She asked, "No I don't have a death wish. The waves are probably so hardcore right now and I wanted to check it out." She said with a slightly annoyed tone. She never likes being told what to do.. ever.
Suddenly, Riley rolled her eyes from Bobbi commanding her to sit down AND snapping her fingers. She soon opened her mouth to speak, huffing loudly. "Ma'am.. I dunno who you think you are but like.. You're not my mother. I'm twenty-three, so move away from the door." She said, her tone sassy. Well.. now she has a death wish.. she got sassy with Bobbi.
Bobbi's eyes narrowed at the blatant little lie the other woman just fed her, brows furrowing a bit as she looked out the windowed door, gesturing to the relentless downpour currently coming down sideways. Eyes cut back to the younger woman. "Are you... Are you fucking stupid or something?" she asked, her tone like steel. "Like.. Honestly... Honestly? You wanna go out in that??? That's like... red flag weather. You've got a death wish or something?"
Tumblr media
Bobbi pointed over towards the spot where she had been sitting previously, still empty thankfully. She snapped her fingers, pointing once more before she commanded sternly, "Go. You're sitting with me all night." And if she didn't comply, Bobbi had absolutely no issue staying right where she was.

For the most part, Dallas felt useless in his current situation. Cut off from the fire station and marooned at the Lounge, he knew the best way he could help was to stay put and make sure no one did anything reckless, but that didn't mean his instincts weren't telling him he should be elsewhere with his brothers-in-fire-alarms.
Running into flames was second nature to him, he had no idea how to wait out water.
So, he did the only thing of value he could think to do and posted up at the entrance to the lounge to ensure no one ran out into the dark and the rain in case anyone decided to be a hero.
Tumblr media
His watch was only broken by banging on the door from the other side, the deliberate kind that fists made rather than sporadic thuds of runaway branches and debris items colliding with it on a gust.
No one out didn't equate to no one in, and when he unlocked the door to let in the next shelter-seeking stranger into the joint he was once again faced with the opposite of one.
"Why the hell are you outside right now?" The concern in his words might have been lost in translation as he ushered her inside and out of the elements. Dallas was a person with few people, he could list everyone he had ever truly cared for in less than ten seconds, so Wren's appearance brought him some solace in the literal storm going on around him. "We gotta stop meeting like this."

There it was.
That was the Wren he knew better than he knew himself back in the day, ready and willing to bite back even while drenched and probably freezing. It's something that warms him figuratively, though he was too focused on warming her literally to pay it much credence.
Nothing new there -- undefined was second nature to them.
After shutting and locking the door again, he leads the pair of them through the Lounge, passed the hustle and bustle of where most of the night's trapped attendees were at the main floor and instead towards Amaya's office in the back.
He wasn't as guarded as a person as he was before he met the Lounge's owner, her unyielding kindness managing to wear down a lifetime's worth of resentment that stemmed from being shown over and over again that people weren't kind.
"Got a whole lotta something, yeah."
Once inside, he flicks on the torch of his phone to locate his black gym bag that blended in too easily with the darkened corners of the room. With it located, he holds his phone in his mouth so he could dig through it for the spare clothes he kept there for if he wanted to hang there after work but didn't want to have the whole place smelling like smoke.
He placed his phone screen down on the desk so that the light from the torch could illuminate as much of the area around the desk as possible as he took out his favorite hoodie and placed it on the desk's surface beside the bag, looking toward Wren again.
Tumblr media
"You want shorts or sweats?" He asked, offering her the only choices there was to offer in what was shaping up to be a Dallas halloween costume.
Wren noticed it when he stepped closer, an instinct that'd been ten years dormant and yet flipped on like a switch--just like her own to instinctively inch closer to him. Dallas protected her when they were teens, when it'd proverbally been them against the world, and now a decade later it was becoming more much literal with the seeming apocalypse right outside their door.
"I didn't choose to get stuck in this. I just.....took a wrong turn leaving work. Not my fault a fucking power line was in the middle of the street and blocked my normal path. I could've been home by now..." And if her anger and upset was more like an angry kitten right now with how shook up she actually was inside, well, she wasn't about to bring attention to it. Just the same though, as his hand went to her back she let him move her without a fight, walking into the warmer, dryer room.
"You keep shit here?" She asked, raising a brow at him. Vaguely she knew the name Amaya- having met the woman crying on the beach a while back. But still. Keeping things here meant trust and it meant friendship. Things unfamiliar to her when she'd spent most of her life alone or keeping even those she had considered friends at an arm's length. No one really knew her. Or....no one did anymore. "You've...got a whole life here, huh."

Not even the darkened skies and the whip of the rain could have lessened the expression on his face, a look of sheer what-the-fuck-ery aimed squarely at his friend. There was only one reason he was outside and he was looking at it.
"You can't be seriously asking me that question right now." He states, voice only raised so it could be heard over the whistle of the wind. His clothes were getting soaked once again after being close to dry and everything sounded a little like he was underwater after heavier rain droplets had found their way inside his ears.
Their disbelief-off could have went on for a lifetime by the sidewalk if they wanted it to, stubborn a trait shared which he had come to know early on in their friendship. To spare them both pneumonia and a potential whack of any flying debris, he had to take matters into his own hands. Which meant he had to take Bobbi into his own hands.
Fuck it.
He zipped around then so that he was behind her, both his arms locking around her waist like life had turned on the fasten seatbelt sign, hoisting her off the ground and up against him so he could literally carry her to the lounge with him.
Tumblr media
"M'holding onto you tight, spider monkey." He quotes, always ready to put some respect on Twilight's name. Choosing not to wear his Vans have been the right choice or there would have been the highest likelihood that he would have slipped on the pavement and taken them both out.
There was no doubt in his mind that they would have looked like a pair of idiots had there been anyone around to witness him hauling her from the road to the lounge and the fact there wasn't was the first instance of him seeing a bright-side to the freak weather.
A shiver still ran through him once they were back inside Amaya's establishment, only releasing his hold on her once he no longer felt rain pelting down on his back.
"Next time I'm leaving your ass out in the elements, Bobert." He lied, ringing out the excess water from his t-shirt onto the floor beneath them.
Bobbi had been sitting in her car, waiting for a lull in the weather to either find somewhere to take shelter for the night or to keep heading to her intended destination. She'd sent Finn a series of texts in an attempt to keep him at least a little updated on her whereabouts, but with each message sent, an angry, red exclamation mark popped up, signaling that service was down. No bars, no Wi-Fi connection, nothing. Radio silence. "Are you fucking kidding me...?" she groaned, tossing the phone into the passenger seat in a bought of frustration. Her hand gripped the steering wheel, fingers lightly drumming against it before letting out a huff. Killing the engine, stuffing her phone into the inside pocket of her jacket, she got out of the car as soon as the heavy rain lessened just a bit. Because she'd be damned if she spent the night in a car and risk being washed away in the unrelenting downpour. Yeah, no thanks.
Faintly, she thought she could hear someone calling out to her over the rain and wind, and she turned and glanced around, shielding her eyes with a hand to see a body coming at her. She squinted and, upon recognition, she made her way towards him.
Tumblr media
"Fuck, Dallas, why are you out here??" she yelled over the downpour. A funny question to ask since she was currently out in this mess and he seemed like he was ready to drag her ass out of it.

Riley thought to herself the whole time while she was at the lounge. How could she calm her nerves? What could she do that was fun? She wasn't particularly close to anyone in the lounge.. so she didn't know who to exactly talk to. She was so damn bored. Ah.. I bet the waves are so.. badass right now. Riley said to herself in her mind. That's when she had the idea. Yeah, the storm is bad but.. surely she could survive on the water. I mean.. surfing is her pride and joy.
That's when she started to head to the entrance slowly. No one should notice me anyways so it's fine. Riley continued to speak to herself in her head, that way.. no one would know that she was about to walk out. However, she stopped in her tracks seeing the woman in front of her. Looking up at her, offended she was stopped before she formed an awkward smile to play it off. "Definitely.. not outside to head to the water.." She said with a little scoff at the end. It was obvious.. that was a lie.

Van has feeling a little weird, to put it mildly. She'd been in storms before -- bad ones -- ones that had names and categories attached to them and you boarded up windows for. This? It wasm't a 'once in a lifetime' storm for a girl from the Gulf Coast. It was a little wild wind and a bedtime white noise for her.
She wasn't feeling scared or apocalyptic about it; a sentiment which seemed to be in the minority at the moment. So she had excluded herself in the corner near the edge of the bar as to not seem insensitive about it with her tendency to have a poor manage of her filter.
Flipping her phone (which was about a useful as a brick in the moment) over in her hands idylly, her attention is pulled when she realized that someone isn't talking to her in concern or hysterics.
She squints at him and her mind immediately, regrettably, jogs as her cheeks redden and she lets out a low laugh.
"Um, Labor Day carnival. Faulty bumper car. You'd said it was the most tame situation where you'd ever had to use the jaws of life."
