The cons of having a twin: they know all your tells, they know all your secrets, and worst of all they literally have your face so you can’t even call them ugly without it being a self-burn.

The pros:

“What did you do?” Brocc asked, eyes already narrowed at her suspiciously.

Breena lowered her cup of mead on to the bar. She had a few options here. Come clean right away. Lame, boring. Lie and pin it all on Sydney. Funny, but dangerous. Lie and pit it all on Yuria. More plausible, still dangerous. The girl can turn into a bear for crying out loud.

Or she could just fuck with him.

“Why, whatever do you mean, brother?” she replied, batting her eyelashes.

Brocc snatched her mostly empty cup away from her before she could take another drink. The monastery forced him to shave his head (though why he continued after leaving was beyond Breena) so it was all eyebrows and his shiny forehead that leaned in closer.

“What. Did. You. Do.” he repeated.

She shrugged. “Oh, let’s see. I woke-up, I fought a talking mushroom, I brewed a slow-acting poison. Oh, by the way, remind me in 5 hours to check in on Jarzz.”

“BREENA.” The other patrons paused in their own conversations a moment to stare at the arguing gnomes before continuing on. Their bartender, a weary battle-scarred duergar, merely blinked. “I know you did something. You might as well just clean now before I have to Kamehameha your ass--”

“Oh, really? Is that really what the monastery called it?”

“That’s not the point, Breena!”

“Ooh, I’m so scared. Just wait until I finish building my latest construc--”

“Getting a robot to fight your battles for you, oh real mature--”

Breena slapped her hands down on the bar. The duergar switched out the empty cup in front of Brocc for a full one. This argument had been fun and all, but it was only just getting started.

“Alright then. Guess you’ll just never know what I stole from you.” She sighed before taking back her mead and drinking some. From the corner of her eye, she could see Brocc practically fuming.

He began patting the pockets in his monk robes, muttering a list of his meager belongings to himself. Oh, this was just too easy.

Finally, after a minute or so of searching, Brocc scoffed. “You’re bluffing. I’m not missing anything. Besides, you wouldn’t bother stealing my stuff.”

“Why, ‘cause you’re my twin?” Now it was Breena’s turn to scoff.

“No, because my stuff’s not worth anything.”

That much was true. That was where they differed most of all. Breena was motivated by self-gain, while Brocc was motivated by...comfortable robes.

She finished off her mead, tossed a few copper pieces on the bar, and hopped down to begin her exit. As nonchalant as she could manage, she said, “Eh, guess you’re right. The merchants didn’t seem very interested in your backwards books anyways.”

she’s got a wild mess of red hair that she rarely bothers to comb, so it most definitely has like leaves and brambles and shit caught in it. 

she’s pretty darn fearless bc in her mind if she dies she dies!!! but there’s no point in being afraid until that moment actually comes.

I hc that she was never in a vault at all and that her father raised her out in the Mojave, taught her how to survive in the wasteland. they had a family ranch at one point in time (pre-nukes) but that got overran pretty quickly by ghouls and the like. the Pattersons have just learned to make do by scavenging/hunting. no mother in the picture.

and yes, Fish is her actual honest-to-goodness god-given name. why did her father do this, you may wonder. well, the man has no impulse control. like father, like daughter, I guess!

🖊 Saiaya Farheat (my bounty hunter from SWTOR! I need to get back into that...)

Saiaya was raised an only child by her mother, a notorious smuggler from the Outer Rim. But when her mother was gunned down in front of her after a shady dealing gone sideways, it made her cold. She would meet with these same criminals that traded with her mother in order to train under them. Some of these excursions were so brutal that she eventually had to have cybernetic augmentations, though admittedly some of those were in an effort to boost her combat ability. Saiaya would kill, maim, essentially whatever job was required of her. After her mother’s death and her years in the Outer Rim, she stopped caring. The Great Hunt just seemed like a perfect opportunity to earn some more notoriety.

🖊 Delaney Fawkes (a Star Wars tabletop character I rolled for a game that never happened)

Fawkes (she always goes by Fawkes, she really hates her first name) is a doctor. Technically. She certainly has the abilities and training to be one. However, she never found it quite...lucrative enough for her tastes. So she’s less a doctor and more a sawbones for wealthy criminals who don’t like being asked questions. Which is a service Fawkes is more than happy to supply. A fiddledeedee conscience never bothered her, so long as the money was right. Unfortunately, getting involved with a Hutt wasn’t the smartest career move one could make. They were far too jealous to allow Fawkes to assist anyone else and they also had enough dirt on her that she had to just play along. She bides her time, waiting for the prime opportunity to escape the Hutt’s servitude.

🖊 Fish Patterson (my courier; another game I need to complete)

Fish is my funny little daughter. She follows almost every impulse that she has, so it’s not uncommon to catch her chewing on objects that are most definitely not food or rubbing things against her cheek just to see how they feel. A lot of her oddities and quirks stem from the fact that she’s been alone most of her life. At one point, she had a father. She remembers his booming laugh and his green coat that had Patterson stitched on the back. He left to gather food one day and never returned. So Fish essentially had to raise herself in the Mojave desert, growing comfortable doing or saying whatever she pleased. Getting shot in the head and then left for dead just gave her something to do, honestly.

🖊 Daphne Dholl (my sole survivor...look one day I’ll beat a video game ok)

Daphne loved her life pre-fallout. She was well on her way to becoming a successful lawyer, she had a loving husband, and a beautiful baby boy. Really, she’s a simple girl at heart. That’s more than she could have ever asked for. It’s largely the reason her and Nate got on so well. He was also content just being together. He would often tell Daphne that if the rest of the world fell away that it wouldn’t even matter so long as he had her. Except the rest of the world did fall away and he got a bullet to the head. Daphne hates that she has to fight for survival after escaping the vault and at first her sole reason for continuing is to save Shaun. But, along the way, it stops being what she has to do and starts just becoming her life. It frightens her sometimes, what she might become when all is said and done. But all she can do is hope she’ll never completely lose where she started.

🖊 Indi (YEP that Indi! my Starfinder baby)

I don’t think I ever officially shared anything about her story, so here it goes! Indi is a space goblin who loves to tinker with technology. Hacking computers is more her thing, but she’s dabbled in robotics as well. She didn’t have many (any) friends on the space station, so Two-Bit was born out of necessity really. Also, if you wouldn’t build a robot with swords for arms, then why the fuck would Indi want to talk to you anyways? Pfft, useless humans. She lives in the ducts and one day happened to see a droid going apeshit on some folks. That might give others pause, but to Indi it seemed like a blessing. This droid could help her escape this shitty space station once and for all. So that’s how she met Buddy and coincidentally stole enough crap to run into the rest of the party as well.

hi so tysm for offering advice. anyway i was dating this girl we got along great and the relationship was amazing. it started getting weird for like the last 3 wks like just her being distant n then she broke up w me. she said it’s bc she’s busy n feels lost. she’s also told me before about being scared to come out to parents n being kinda scared of love. i can’t stop hoping we can get back together when there’s better circumstances. we both still like/love idk each other so its just sad :(

I really do sympathize with you, anon, I know many people (myself included) who have been there in the past! But, like anything, try to look at this from a positive perspective:

You may have lost a girlfriend, but you got a great friend out of it! Just because you’re no longer dating doesn’t mean that you can’t still hang out and be friends! Just make sure that you’re A) doing this so you can still keep this person in your life, and B) NOT doing this bc you just want to be with them again, cause that’ll make both of you feel worse!

Not to mention, she may not have been the right one (for right now), but when the right one comes along, they won’t make excuses, they’ll slot into your life as comfortably as possible, and it’ll feel heavenly! Effort is different from force, and you should never have to force a relationship to stick!

LMAO put me on the spot why don’t ya???

In all honesty, I do love Vel. She’s probably the most #relatable of the crew and also as a DM an interesting character to plot things for. Like I knew throwing Gaedren into Rolth’s lab would get a reaction from her (and everybody else too of course, but like I figured Vel of anybody would be pissed) and I knew she’d react poorly to Zellara’s reading this book. It’ll be fun I think to compare where she started in book 1, a grifter just trying to skate by and so unsure of herself to the point of physically wanting to be hidden, to the end of it all when she’s grown into this heroic person who helped save an entire city from its own corruption.

My pathfinder oc Valtyra (aasimar oracle) lost her memories due to backstory reasons, and so to prevent from losing memories again, she began to write everything down that happened around her! :)

Roxie, I’m love her. That’s also a clever way to trick your dm into giving you stuff like “but Valtyra would’ve written it down!!!” Genius.

Probably my biggest oc backstory to deal with memory loss is Bartok, my drow wizard. He was weakly and frail but showed great intellectual promise and so was sent to a library in Menzoberranzan. Though that’s where his memory starts to get fuzzy and all he knows for sure is that his memory has been tampered with. Big chunks of time are missing, minor details are difficult to grasp on to. Bartok has no idea what he can or cannot trust from his own memory of that time other than when he “woke-up” from it, there was blood on his hands and the library on fire. He’d maybe take to writing down what he could remember except for now he kind of doesn’t want to.
