You know what? Why do authors have to make a manipulative woman obsessed with some fucking man? Why can't she be a compelling villain or a morally grey character working for the good of women or the oppressed but she's going about it the wrong way? Or she's working for her own interests but you can get behind it because of what other people have done? Why does she HAVE to be a sex offender or man-obsessed? Why is it that all the Valor children have some magical ability and then Aurora and Castor don’t?

List of their attributes from TBONA:

Aurora: Sweet and beautiful

Castor: Noble

Vesper: Could see the future

Tempest and Romulus: great inventors (made magical arches)

Dane: shifter

Lysander: a gift involving memories

That was before we knew that Castor was Chaos. So, maybe giving him no magical ability like the rest of his brothers was a way of almost evening things out? But why doesn’t Aurora have anything special about her? I have seen theories about her being the first fox and I wouldn’t be surprised if she may be. Especially the “Aurora + Jacks” at the Hollow.

Maybe Aurora just changed which of her brother’s friends she was interested in once Lyric died but Jacks wasn’t interested so she changed her appearance and transformed into a fox with her magical ability?

We know that Dane could shape-shift maybe so could Aurora?

This is literally the most out of pocket-random thought but it bugs me. There’s like no reason for Aurora and Castor to not have anything special except for the fact Castor later becomes Chaos and it’s the worlds way of balance. And the chance that Aurora hid hers.

Since the Valors are free from the arch, I wonder if we get to see Aurora and Lala interact in ACFTL.

In Aurora's diary, she says how Lala told her to just marry Vengeance. She also thinks that Lala doesn't like her very much, and how Lala doesn't think she's good enough for her brother just as she thinks Lala isn't good enough for hers.

If we do see them interact, I wonder how Stephanie would go about it?

Would Lala be pissed with Aurora for being the reason her family is dead? Would Lala sympathize with Aurora for understanding wanting a love match? Will they not speak at all?

It also makes me wonder what Lala was doing the day of the attack if Vengeance attacked her household? She could've just not been home, but I'd like to know more.

Sorry if someone already asked/said something about this. I have bad memory and I wouldn't be surprised if someone already thought this stuff 😅

Evangeline loved Jacks unconditionally, Jacks did nothing for their happily ever after…

Lala almost killed her and got away with it too?

I honestly can’t get over the fact that everything Jacks does gets excused. Baby Jacks had his reasons. Everyone else is at fault no matter what happens.

It‘s Apollos‘s fault. He is evil.

But Jacks? Nope, he is justified. Btw, he is my favorite character after Evangeline and I love Evajacks, but ignoring his actions is not an option.

The moment he laid eyes on Evangeline, he started using her to go back to Tella everybody. I wonder if he would have saved her from being stone if things in Finale would have worked out for him. He lied to her, deceived her not only in OUABH but in TBONA too. He framed her for murder and risked her life. He put her on so much pain and tears. Until the end of TBONA he was still planning on LEAVING HER BEHIND and go back to Tella. Knowing Evangeline would experience all the pain of losing her parents, being heartbroken by Luc, treated like crap by her stepmother.

And let's not forget the mean dialogue between Jacks and Lala in Slaughterwood Castle. Both of them were so cold and acted infront of Evangeline. They treated her like she is stupid.

Because of Lala Evangeline suffered in pain. She could have died! And a simple apology did it at the end? And of course she is also justified because she made a mistake because of love? But Apollo‘s mistake because of his love and interest is not even understood.

I also wished Eva would have asked Jacks about the dialogue. About how cruel he talked about her. But this is sadly one of many unanswered and unsolved things…

Then, in ACFTL (after he used to stones to save her life) he was still leaving her behind. He wanted to destroy his heart not to feel anything. Even after finding out it was Apollo who took her memories away, he was about to leave her again with all the miseries and all alone. It was Evangeline who truly loved him unconditionally, despite all the hurt he caused her. She risked her life for him. Jacks hasn’t done anything for their happy ending. It’s not that I can’t feel with him at all, but this isn’t talked about enough. In the hollow he gave her hope, he made her fall in love with him just to leave her in the end of Chaos wouldn’t have killed her.

Apollo? I am not saying he is particularly a good man, but after he took Evangeline’s memories he was portrayed as the evilest of all. But from his pov he used his chance. He was cursed by his friend, went through a lot of trouble and HIS WIFE was choosing the guy who is responsible for all of this. And let’s not forget it wasn’t Apollo who had the idea of taking Evangeline’s memories:

It was Aurora Valor

She planted the idea in his head. She gave him the elixir in the first place. With the memory taking and showed him the tree of souls. And let’s be honest, if taking Eva‘s memories would have gotten Jacks were he wanted, he would have done it too.

And what were the consequences for Aurora? Nothing? She cursed Jacks, due to her careless behavior the end of the Merrywood family, Evangeline’s lost memories and everything happened infront of the tree of souls. And she didn’t get a fragment of the hate that Apollo got.

As much as I like the books and Evajacks, there are unanswered questions still and ACFTL feels a little incomplete and rushed. Jacks was suddenly in love with her since the moment he saw Evangeline, Apollo suddenly became the worst guy.

Chaos who literally went on a killing spree got away with everything too (because yeah he can, he is hot right?), Lala tricked Evangeline too. She was her friend but risked her life for her own needs. Also, I felt like Evangeline was too extreme with Apollo? She is right but she didn’t show a fragment of that hate to others who deserved it just as much. She left him after opening the arch and after his curse lifted and he has been through so much. But hours before that she made out with him.

As every other reader, I also have many questions and blank spaces. I loved this trilogy, but I believe it deserved a better ending.

And I would like to add something nice at the end:

Jacks could have gone back farer away in time. To save Lyric and Castor and the so called „foxes“ (I truly hate this part of the story). He also could have still gone back to Tella and still save Evangeline when the time came. But since he never fell in love and loved anyone so deep and the way he loves Evangeline, he used the once time change with the stones to „save her“. Also the fact that he keeps watching her sleep since TBONA 🩷 he never understood why people did that until her. Until his Little Fox 🩷🍎

ACFTL THEORY: TRUE LOVE ❤️

This is just going to be a quick and basic theory so forgive me.🥹

Prolly why all girls Jacks ever kissed died (including his first Fox) was because he never really admitted to himself that he was in love — or at least never allowed himself to. There was always attraction, yes, but never to a point where he became human enough. Evangeline asked him if he loved Tella, Aurora and The Fox but he said NO each time.

We know that Love is a Fate’s weakness as it makes them human and most Fates would rather kill than become human.

Our boy Jacks is always confused if he’s in love or it’s curse in effect. I think the only time the curse will break is if Jacks sacrifice, finally admit that he’s in love and truly become human.

New Theory on the Story Curse

**SOME SPOILERS**

Okay so @rachiecakes14 gave me the idea of Aurora Valor being very good at curses on my post about the Valors and wondering why Aurora and Castor don’t have magic that were told about. Her diary is said to have a curse on it and there are other reasons why this could be true.

What if her and Lysander used their powers together (Lysander being something to do with memories, Aurora theoretically being good with curses) and made the story curse? And then the other set of twins that were inventors (Tempest and Romulus if I am correctly remembering) we’re able to connect it to their arches. Like the giant one at the entrance you’re not supposed to talk going through so that the story magic doesn’t get out.

We don’t know when it was created but isn’t it odd Jacks is able to tell Evangeline what happened to Merrywood despite the story curse? (Unless if the fact he was there changes something) After Castor is killed we know he goes back and attacks S.Wood in his vampire form. Since everyone thought after Castors death the Valors made a monster (who was actually castor) to avenge him it would make sense if they want people to forget.

What if the Valors wanted to fix their reputation and tried to make everyone forget about it by cursing the North?

Anyone that says they hate Aurora Valor but says they loved Jacks since he appeared in Legendary I don’t trust. Do I like Jacks now? Yes. Do I find Aurora insufferable? Also yes. What Aurora does is very shitty and she is not a good person, however you cannot hate Aurora for doing the things you thought were hot when Jacks did them. She’s a very shitty person outside of these things and you have every right to hate her, I hate her as well especially for getting an innocent family killed just because she liked the attention of Lyric.

When Jacks appeared in Legendary, he was manipulative and cold and doing everything to get what he wanted. When he became obsessed with Donatella he hated that she could be in love with Dante, he wanted to keep her for himself like some sort of object or doll who revolved around him. He manipulated her and took away her free will so she would only ever want him. He was an insufferable pompous jackass who deserved what he got in Finale. Donatella should not have been forced to love him and be tricked into a marriage she had no knowledge of and had every right to break their bond.

Aurora fell in love with Jacks and hated that he was in love with the Original Fox. She cursed him twice so he would never be able to love someone without hurting them. She made it so the only person he could love was either her or no one. She used Apollo to keep Evangeline locked away and miserable so she would never go back to Jacks and when she realized that Jacks still wasn’t going to love her she let him rip out his heart and try to destroy it because if she can’t have him then no one can.

What both of them did is fucked up and they both wanted the same thing: someone that was obsessed with them just as much as they were obsessed with the other and they hurt so many people to get what they wanted and still failed in the end.

I’m not saying anyone should forgive Aurora for what she did, or trying to sympathize with her, I’m saying that if you liked or enjoyed what Jacks did to Donatella and find his actions hot, then why is Aurora any different? I say this as someone who likes Jacks but hated him in Caraval, it took me three quarters into OUABH to like his character because he’s a shitty person. What he did to Donatella was inexcusable and I put off reading OUABH specifically because of him. But then he had character growth and became a less shitty person (still not a good person, he’s very self-destructive at times which leads to him harming others).
