Idk. This is so much more intense than some of the other routes for no particular reason….. maybe its just a result of muriel’s past but damn

Tbh i don’t find morga’s character to be that bad. in fact she’s probably one of the more interesting and better fleshed out side characters in the whole game (next to auntie tasya of course)

still feeling like. Muriel is a tad bit infantalized here especially that stupid fucking scarf scene but whatever

Hiiiiii so in Portia’s new update (spoilers!), there’s a part where Portia asks what Mc thinks about Tasya. If you choose I’m Not a Fan, they say that something seems off about her. And I kinda feel the same way after seeing her bribery and how showy she is. What do you think??

I don’t like Tasya. I wanted to like Tasya. I don’t like Tasya.

The biggest red flag, for me, is that she spends the whole chapter enabling the habit Portia’s been trying to break - hiding the truth, hoarding information, and using it to manipulate others. Not only does she straight-up tell Portia the truth is useless, she promises to help her get good at pulling others’ strings. She’s not just encouraging Portia’s vice - she wants her to perfect it. 

She also uses a number of subtle manipulative tactics to isolate Portia from her support system and align her with Tasya (Which, honestly, shouldn’t be a surprise - she introduced herself as a puppetmaster who takes pride in getting people on her side, so it would be naïve to assume she’s not trying to “work” everyone she meets.):

She barely talks to Julian. As Portia’s only other blood relative, and one of her primary caregivers, he’s possible competition or at least an obstacle for Tasya if she wants a custodial relationship over Portia - but Portia’s also used to living in his shadow, so she responds well to people who give her more attention than her brother, instead of treating her like an afterthought.

She barely talks to MC. Again, keeping the attention on Portia to flatter her, but not allowing a voice that could potentially conflict with her goals, that has influence over Portia. You’re established as someone Portia cares about and listens to, and Tasya’s not sure she could overrrule you...so she just doesn’t let you talk.

The story she tells (paid option) about Portia as a child has a ton of tiny details that play up the image of Tasya as someone who’s always been a support, especially for Portia, and further lean on the wedge that already exists between her and Julian:

Details like “Ilya was beside himself” “he didn’t let you out of his sight for a week” play to the overprotective-brother image. On the surface, it’s a joke, but it does reinforce the things that bother Portia about her brother - he’s overbearing, almost smothering, he doesn’t see her as an adult, and she can’t get away from him

Tasya was the one who allegedly found Portia (more on that below). Not Mom or Dad - Tasya. Little baby Pasha was missing, possibly in danger, and it was Auntie Tasya to the rescue

In the story, Portia was missing because she was in Tasya’s room, playing with her things - she ran off, ignored everyone calling for her, because she was just so immersed in wanting to be like her favorite Auntie

They’re small details, but they will (and do) have a profound effect on Portia. Implying that she loved Tasya as a child makes her want to like Tasya now; implying that Tasya knew her so well as a child she could find Portia when no one else could makes it seem like she’s been supportive of Portia from the beginning. Because Portia doesn’t remember their parents, or anything about their family, she will (and does) cling to any information about them as a part of her identity - she feels like she missed out on having them, so she hangs onto them however she can now. She’s treating the story as gospel, which is bad, because...

We have no actual confirmation Tasya is who she says she is. As mentioned above, she barely gives Julian the time of day, and he is the only person who can vouch for who she is - and when he cast doubt on how she survived, she completely blew off the question. She didn’t volunteer an explanation he could’ve poked holes in - she doesn’t even try to wave it off with a “it’s a long story” or something else to dodge the question. She basically said “I know, right?” and changed the subject. It could be another reason she’s trying to create distance from Julian - Portia has no reason not to trust her, but he has the potential to see through the illusion, and Tasya doesn’t know Portia won’t side with him if he calls her out. Not yet, anyway.

Like I said, I really, really wanted to like her - I hate when new female characters are revealed and everyone assumes they’re a villain - but even if she’s not something crazy like a BBEG in disguise, I don’t think she’s good news. ☕
