Under His Charm
Deity! Na Jaemin x Human! Reader
Summary: Your mother’s hometown has always been a mystery to you. From the weird festival up to your superstitious relatives. That’s why it’s no surprise that you encountered a deity of the woods.
Word count: 4.7k
· · ─────── ·𖥸· ─────── · ·
The trail to your mother’s hometown was a struggle. Even your family’s brand new car didn’t stand a chance against it.
“It would’ve been better if we just went to the beach,” you complained, earning a small slap from your twin brother who only hushes you. From the passenger seat, your mother could only let out a sigh.
“There’s an ocean here too, you can swim there if you want,” your mother said. After a few pushes, the car was able to make it through the muddy path. You watch as your father drives to the path with much ease after getting stuck on a huge rock.
You’ve been in your mother’s hometown numerous times. It was up in the mountains but just alongside an ocean. A logic that you always found fascinating. It was a small town where everyone knows everyone. But what’s more unique about the town was that they’re very superstitious.
You and your family are spending the summer there. And as much as you want to stay in your house, everyone, even your relatives are going. There’s a festival there, and it only occurs every decade. That’s why it was also the best time for a family reunion.
As soon as you reached your relatives’ house, you noticed that the town wasn’t as boisterous as you thought it was. Your mother only told you to go to the house and greet your relatives.
“Oh, yn and Donghyuck, look at you two,” your great-aunt said, offering you two a hug.
“They surely have grown,” another relative of yours commented.
“Right! Our Donghyuck is so handsome, I bet you have a girlfriend already,” your great-aunt teased. You saw how your twin shyly laughed it off.
“How about you yn? Do you have a boyfriend now?” they asked.
You only gave them a smile, “no, just not looking for a relationship at the moment.”
“Oh goodness! Then be careful around here okay? God, you look even prettier, you might get enchanted!” your great-aunt warned.
You only glanced at Donghyuck who found your relative’s warnings weird. He shrugs it off but you gave your great-aunt a smile.
“I’ll take note of that auntie, thank you so much,” you only said.
“Don’t stray away okay?” she said one last time before going to the kitchen.
Rather than staying inside, you and Donghyuck went to the family car where your parents are unloading your bags. You told your parents about your encounter with your great-aunt and you saw how your mother’s forehead creased.
“Those aren’t true,” she dismisses. “But you should still listen to her, okay? The elders know this place more than us, we’re just visiting here.”
You always knew that your mother’s hometown is a place full of mystery and enigma. You heard stories from your aunts and uncles about their encounters with mythical creatures and even ghosts. Your mother on the other hand was a skeptic, and her siblings would just tease her because she hasn’t really encountered something mythical at all.
“Because they aren’t real,” your mother said. It was dinner time. A huge table was placed outside your great-aunt’s backyard. The moon was shining bright and the atmosphere was lively. You sat there along with your other relatives who talked about their childhood days and their encounters.
“Your mother just didn’t encounter any mythical creatures,” your aunt whispered to you. You only stifle a laugh.
“But she told us to still be careful here,” you replied.
“Of course,” she answered. “There are good creatures, and there are naughty ones…it is hard to distinguish who’s who, that’s why you should be very careful.”
After dinner, you immediately went back to your room where your family will be staying. You lay beside Donghyuck who you are sharing bed with and the moment you hit the mattress, you immediately doze off to sleep. Tiredness entering your body.
In your dreams, you found yourself in the middle of the woods. Your eyes wide at how the moon is glowing, leaving light as if it was to battle the sun. You let out an astonished gasp as you watch the moon show the trail towards a path. You aimlessly went there, curious as if you were Alice in Wonderland.
You found yourself in the middle of a field. With wisterias tickling your bare feet. You only smile at the paradise you found. That’s when you noticed that you weren’t wearing your pajamas, you were wearing a sundress that’s painted white and adorned with laces. It was your favorite sundress and you remember that you brought it for your vacation. Your dream felt real at this point.
As you tried to navigate your way around, your feet went further and further from where you started. You found another light that is guided by the moon. Hastily, you ran towards it —
But you stop when someone grabs your shoulder. You turned around and were welcomed by an ethereal figure.
“You almost jumped off the cliff,” he smiles. He stares at you for a second and waves his hand in front of you.
And as if you were holding back your breath, you almost choke as you exhaled and grasped for air once again. Your eyes became wide.
Your dream, it made you sleep-walked. You found yourself in the middle of nowhere. In a dark woods, with nothing but the man’s lamp as the light.
You looked at your clothes and you were wearing your pajamas, and you were barefoot! That’s when you noticed how the rocky path scratches your feet.
“Are you okay? Can you hear me?” the man asked once again, shifting your attention to him.
“Thank you, I don’t know what would happen to me if I almost jumped — I don’t know, I’m confused,” you confessed, trying to process everything.
“You’re not from here aren’t you?” he asked. You only nod.
“Perhaps that’s why,” he gives you a soft smile. “The spirits are playing tricks on foreigners, you became a victim unfortunately.”
“Spirits?”
“Just naughty ghosts who're bored with their life,” he explains. “It’s a good thing I was able to save you.”
“Thank you,” you said once again. “But who are — I mean, are you also a spirit?”
You watched as he thought about it for a minute. “Not a spirit, but more of a deity I guess? I’m Jaemin by the way.”
“Jaemin,” you muttered. “I’m yn. I’m here for a vacation.”
“Oh for the festival! I know about that, it’s a tradition,” he laughs. “Well, shouldn’t you be in your relative’s room asleep yn?”
That’s when it hit you that you’re in the middle of nowhere. You looked around and saw nothing but pitch black. Your heart starts beating fast, especially after your encounter with the spirits.
“I don’t know where I am,” you confessed. “But thank you Jaemin, I’ll try to find my way back.”
And before you could make a step, Jaemin grabs your shoulders.
“Don’t worry about it, I can help you,” Jaemin said. “No tricks I swear, just close your eyes.”
And as if you were in a spell, you did close your eyes. Jaemin only smiles at you, so innocent and naive. He slowly lifts his hands, and there he mutters some words before pointing a finger on you.
-
It was a weird dream, you think.
“Did you sleep properly? You were like a dead log last night,” Donghyuck commented.
You wanted to tell your parents about your weird encounter last night, but you too aren’t sure if it was a dream or something that happened in real life. The moment you wake up, you’re next to your twin who’s still sleeping. The sun was barely rising and you can already hear the busy morning of the town.
“Why was I moving too much?” you asked.
“No, you’re just frozen in one position,” Donghyuck explained. You don’t know if that was an odd thing, you only nod before following your parents who’s busy looking at the fresh vegetables on a stall.
The market was bustling with people. Everyone was busy preparing for a feast. You heard that people would go house to house to eat and feast with the host. You guessed that your relatives are also preparing it because your family was tasked to buy it from the market.
“Oh I forgot to buy some eggs,” your mother said as you made your way out of the market. “Yn, can you go buy a whole tray?”
“Yeah sure,” you only said, accepting the money and turning back to enter the wet market.
While you find your way towards the stall that sells eggs, you notice a familiar figure standing in front of a flower stall. Your eyes widened because you felt like deja vu as your eyes locked on his back. You know that it was dark in your dreams and you saw nothing but his face, but you couldn’t help but follow your instincts.
“Jaemin?” you called out.
And within a second, he turns around and gives you a smile. You were frozen from where you were standing. It is him! So last night wasn’t a dream. He’s much more beautiful in real life, under the broad daylight. He doesn’t have any distinct indication that he’s a deity. Jaemin was tall, with black hair, and handsome features. He’s also wearing a plain white shirt and black slacks, that’s why one would think that he’s just a guy who’s buying flowers.
“Oh, hi yn!” he greets with a smile. “It’s nice to see you here.” you watched as the florist called his attention again. He grabs the huge bouquet of flowers and approaches you.
“You’re here,” you muttered.
“What? You think I’m going to stay in the woods forever? There’s a festival and I want to join!” Jaemin excitedly said. “Oh by the way, keep it a secret about last night okay?”
You only nod. You were about to say something when you heard a familiar voice.
“Hey! You’ve been gone for too long —” Donghyuck stops when he notices that you’re talking to someone. “Who is this?”
“Hyuck! He’s uhm…He’s Jaemin, he’s —”
“Just a florist,” Jaemin asked. “Was offering her flowers, it’s fresh and picked by hand too.”
“Well maybe next time,” Donghyuck stated. “Come on now, mom’s waiting for you.”
Your conversation with Jaemin became short because of your twin. He pulls you away and drags you further but as you turn around, Jaemin gives you a small wave and wink before going on his way.
“He’s kinda cute,” Donghyuck comments. “I bet he likes you.”
“You’re talking nonsense,” you rolled your eyes.
“What are the odds, maybe he’ll pass by our house and eat with us.”
And true to your twin brother’s words, Jaemin did drop by your great-aunt’s house. In the midst of your other relatives entertaining other guests, you quickly approached Jaemin who’s in front of the doorsteps with a handful of flowers.
“Should’ve given you some earlier,” he stated. You shyly picked the bouquet of flowers and muttered your thanks to him.
“Do you want to go inside? My great-aunt cooked some meals and it’s part of the tradition too,” you offered.
“I don’t consume human food,” Jaemin answers.
“Oh.”
“Do you want to go out? I know that our conversation always comes to a halt but I really want to talk to you,” he asked instead.
Jaemin was right. You have a lot of questions on your mind that only he can answer. You only nod, making him smile. He offers you his hand but you only shake your head.
“People might get the wrong impression,” you laughed, making Jaemin let out a small chuckle.
“You’re right, but shall we get going now?”
“Of course,” you answered.
Just like what he said last night, he is a deity of the woods. He watches over the woods which he considers as his home too. Jaemin lets people in his property. For their livelihood, and income, he understands their intention especially when the people offer prayers or ask for his guidance as a sign of respect to him. Jaemin knows too that not all people believe in myths and spirits, but all he wants is for them to not destroy his home.
Jaemin also knows that there are other creatures lurking around the town. Some are nice and good, he can be friends and acquainted with them. While others aren’t. They’re not evil if Jaemin would think about it, just creatures that he couldn’t understand their intentions. They’re the ones who almost threw you off the cliff.
“If you weren’t there, I would’ve died,” you muttered. “Thank you, I owe you my life.”
“It’s nothing yn,” Jaemin said.
You didn’t say a word and instead, you looked at the view in front of you. Jaemin brought you to the town’s pier. There were a few people around, glancing at you two but you tried to ignore it as much as possible.
“Do they know your identity?” you asked.
Jaemin shakes his head. “This is my first time appearing in town, so basically we’re both strangers.”
“Really? Why?”
“Do you really want to know the answer?” he teased.
Your smile disappeared. Suddenly, your heart starts beating fast and you can feel your cheeks heating up. Jaemin only stares at you fondly, then he looks away, eyes locked on the ocean instead.
“I’m just kidding yn,” he took it back immediately. “I was just curious about the human who was lured by the spirits.”
“Why would you be curious, I’m just an ordinary girl,” you laughed.
“You got lured in your sleep,” Jaemin pointed out. From there, you watch as he removes a ring from his finger and drops it on the palm of your hand. “Wear it, it’s a protection.”
But you only sheepishly smiled as you returned it to him. “I don’t believe in spells and protective objects Jaemin, I’ll be okay.”
“I insist,” Jaemin gives it back to you. “What if I’m not there in the woods? It has my power, they’ll know that you’re under my protection.”
You only let out a sigh as you looked at the golden ring. It looks old, carved like the root of a tree with a peridot gem in the middle. You slipped on your ring finger and was surprised that it fits perfectly.
“It’s pretty though,” you only smiled. “Thank you Jaemin.”
“No worries yn,” he mumbled, grabbing a hold of your hand. You watch as he intertwines his fingers on yours, fingers brushing over the ring. You felt your heart skipping a beat as Jaemin stares at you with a smile. Somehow, you weren’t worried about what others would say. That’s why you smiled back at him.
-
In the midst of the busy preparation for the festival, you found yourself spending more time with Jaemin. He was sweet and gentle to you. He didn’t take any advantage on you aside from holding your hands which he seems to be very fond of. Slowly, you found yourself lured to him. His smile, and gestures, you always found yourself looking for him.
Of course, news spread quickly. It was a small town, and people knew people.
“Oh the florist,” Donghyuck teased.
“You know him Hyuck?” your mother asked.
“Yeah, back in the market, he offered yn flowers,” Donghyuck. “I guess he found her pretty.”
“Who’s this young man again dear?” your great-aunt asked.
“His name is Jaemin, aunt,” you answered.
“Did you ask who his parents are? Haven’t heard of his name,” your great-aunt said. Trying to recall the people in the town.
“He’s also a foreigner here,” you answered immediately. “He’s here for the festival.”
“Oh! No wonder,” she only chuckles. “Just be careful you two, both being strangers isn’t good here too. You know that there are evil creatures lurking around.”
“Of course, thanks aunt!” you said, grabbing your bag. “I’ll be going now!”
“Don’t forget to return tonight! The opening celebration will start at eight!” your great-aunt informed.
You only shouted, “I will!” before running your way towards the gate where Jaemin is standing, waiting for you.
“They thought you’re a foreigner too,” you laughed. Telling Jaemin that someone told your family about you two.
“What did she say?” Jaemin asked.
“She told me to just be careful of the evil spirits,” you answered. “But I don’t have to worry about it, you’re my protector.”
“Of course I am,” Jaemin proudly says, pinching your cheeks in the process. You only let out a small giggle as you two decided to take a small picnic in the woods.
Jaemin brought you to the exact place where you two first met. It was a wide grassfield in the middle of the woods. The sun was up, with the clouds giving a warm and cold breeze at the same time. It felt like spring when you noticed that there’s a lot of wild flowers blooming around the field. You and Jaemin sat there, you indulged on some snacks that you bought while Jaemin could only watch you, according to him, he only consumes wild fruits and herbs that can be deemed poisonous to humans.
“I heard that the opening celebration is tonight,” you shared.
“Do you know what the celebration is all about?” he asked, you only shake your head. Come to think of it, it never crossed your mind what the celebration is all about. You just happen to know that it only occurs every decade.
“Well, a long time ago, a human and a non-human fell in love with each other,” Jaemin explained. He gently picks a flower on a side and gives it to you who only accepted it dearly. “But they can’t be together because they’re from two different worlds, so the non-human made a promise, every ten years when the eclipse will occur, it will provide a path for its lover to return to him.”
“What does our town have to do with this?” you asked out of curiosity.
Jaemin shrugs, “it was merely a myth, back then, they used to wander off a woman into the woods but now, they no longer do it. They just use it as an excuse to feast and celebrate.”
You laughed at his story. “Well, I think it’s a lovely story, plus the whole town’s celebrating! So what do you say, do you want to join in the celebration?”
Jaemin didn’t answer immediately. He looks up to the sky for a minute, in which you follow immediately.
“I don’t think I want to show my face in front of a crowd, there are spirits that might lurk around and bring bad luck too,” Jaemin explained, letting out a sigh. “Plus, it is also a night where they tend to trick young ladies into the woods and prey on them. I have to do my obligation to watch over them.”
“Oh right! You’re right,” you tried to brush it off but it saddens you that you couldn’t celebrate the festival with Jaemin. You heard that the opening celebration is lively, there is food, dancing, and even traditional activities. It is also a night of matchmaking, and there are chances that the person you danced with until the sun rises will be yours forever.
“I’m really sorry yn,” Jaemin apologized. “As much as I want to go, I really can’t. Unless…”
“Unless what?” you asked.
“If you have spare time, you can go meet me here,” he suggested. “It’ll be just quick.”
You became quiet for a minute. “I mean, I’m okay with that but I’m scared that I might get lost.”
Jaemin only smiles at you. He grabs your hand and kisses the ring that you’re wearing. “Don’t worry, I’ll guide you. Just follow your instincts okay?”
“Okay,” you breathed.
You returned back to the town around afternoon. As you reached the town center, you noticed that it’s becoming busier than the first day. People are busy preparing for the field where the celebration will occur. They’re setting up tables, chairs, and even decorations. The whole field is filled with different flowers that are in bloom, there was music, classical music that you found odd yet it serenades the air with a bright atmosphere. You felt excited about the celebration, but what you’re looking forward to most are the few minutes with Jaemin.
“Hey, where’s your loverboy?” Donghyuck asked while you two prepared for the night. You watch as he wears his casual polo shirt while you’re still applying makeup.
“He's doing something that’s why he can’t make it,” you said, technically you weren’t lying too.
“That’s sad,” your twin sarcastically said. “What if someone offered you to dance with them?”
“I’ll reject it of course,’ you rolled your eyes. “I hope someone offers you a dance.”
“That, I’ll reject too,” he said, making you two laugh.
After a few finishing touches, you wore your summer dress. The one that’s white and adorned with laces. And if it wasn’t enough for you, you tied your hair in a low ponytail and placed a ribbon on it. You found yourself staring at the mirror and you could only smile as the bubbly feeling of meeting Jaemin excites you.
Your relatives showered you with compliments, they were sure that you’ll be the most beautiful girl during the celebration. They asked you about Jaemin but you gave them the same excuse. They found it a shame that he might not be able to attend, especially when a matchmaking is about to happen.
Night came and the moon was in its gleaming glory. There were a few lights around the field set up by the townspeople. From a far you can hear that the celebration is starting. There was music, food, and boisterous laughter.
Your whole family, led by your great-aunt was welcomed with warm hugs and greetings, you and Donghyuck were introduced to strangers who are acquainted with your relatives. You only give them a smile and a shy laugh whenever they give you a compliment. For the duration of the night, you only sat along with your family, munching on the heavenly food the town prepared. You and Donghyuck gossiped and judged some people for a quick while, sharing laughter with each other.
The music suddenly went abruptly. From the speaker, the music changed into something more mellow. More old-fashioned as if you’re straight out of a fairytale story. You watched as different people, especially those around your age started to approach each other. They were holding hands as they walked in the center where an iron pole stood tall. From above, a flower wreath is placed.
“I guess they’re starting the tradition,” Donghyuck said.
That was your cue. You stand up from your seat, earning a glance from Donghyuck.
“I’ve got to go,” you said quickly.
“Wait, where are you going!?”
You didn’t even bother answering Donghyuck. You immediately left the place, running as quickly as possible towards the woods.
The celebration slowly becomes mute to your ears. You stopped when you found yourself in front of the tall trees that were once friendly during the night. You stared at its emptiness, and for once, you wanted to back out.
But Jaemin, he’s waiting for you there in the field. You never know when you two will ever see each other again. You knew deep inside that he’s a deity. A non-human. But if there’s someone who you wanted to dance with until the sun rises, it’s got to be him.
So with a brave heart, you took heavy strides towards the woods. Following your instincts and hoping that it’ll guide you to the right path.
And your minutes of wandering took you to the right path. You only gasped as you exited the dark woods and entered another paradise. You felt deja vu hitting you. You felt as if you’re in your dreams again. Flowers tickling your feet as you walk right through it. The grass was as gentle as ever and the moon was gleaming. You stared at it, any minute the eclipse will occur and you only stood there, scanning for Jaemin.
“You’re here,” you turned around and smiled.
“I’m here,” you said with glee.
You watched as Jaemin walked towards you. Unlike the usual clothes he wears, he’s more divine in his clothes. A white sleeved blouse that’s almost see-through tucked comfortably in a black slacks. He has a black coat trailing from his back and you can see that he’s adorned with jewels.
As soon as you’re facing each other. No one says a thing, both eyes looking at each other lovingly. As if each other’s gaze was enough to tell each other that they’re happy to see the person in front of them.
“You look beautiful,” Jaemin said.
“You as well,” you complimented. Earning a chuckle from him.
“So,” you looked up in the sky. “The eclipse is about to happen any minute now. Do you know about the matchmaking tradition?”
“Matchmaking?”
“They say, if you danced with someone from the start of the eclipse up to when the sun rises,” you muttered, holding his hand in the process. “They’ll be yours forever.”
Jaemin only smiled at your words. He gently lets go of your hands and cups your cheeks instead.
“Do you swear with your words?”
You only smiled at him. “Jaemin, I don’t care if you’re not a human. I want to be with you forever.”
You watched as Jaemin’s smile turned into a small smirk. “Then who am I to reject your wish?”
Slowly, Jaemin leans into you, making you close your eyes as his lips gently touch yours. It was sweet and soft, you were frozen by his action but you found yourself deeply under his spell.
“Shall we dance, my love?” Jaemin said, offering his hands to you.
You let out a small chuckle as you accepted it, “of course.”
Jaemin was a great dancer. He holds you gently, his hands wrapped around your waist while the other one guides your hand. His steps were slow but he changes the pace from time to time, like the way he twirls you around or lifts you all of the sudden. You could only laugh at his silly gestures, blissfully unaware that it’s just you and him there. Unaware that time has passed by and the eclipse has passed.
It’s just the two of you there, alone in the field. The strong aura of Jaemin’s power cast a spell around the area. To trap you there forever, and to prevent any, even mythical creatures from separating you and him forever.
-
“Hyuck, where’s yn, I haven’t seen her,” your mother asked with a worried tone.
“She said she’ll be going somewhere,” your twin brother shrugs. “She was in such a hurry, maybe she went to the restroom or something —”
“What!?” your mother shouted, earning the attention of your relatives. They rushed to her immediately.
“What do you mean, where’s yn!?” your great-aunt asked once again.
“Auntie!” a guy shouted, everyone’s attention shifted to the teenager who’s catching his breath.
“What? What is it?” your great-aunt asked, heart beating fast due to her nervousness.
“Do you know who owns this? We found it near the woods,” he said, placing something from the palm of your great-aunts’ hands.
“That’s yn’s!” Donghyuck quickly said, pointing at the dirty ribbon that fell when you were running in hurry.
“Where? Where is my daughter!?” your mother shouted, tears forming in her eyes.
“You said it’s near the woods right? We should rescue her, who knows what wild animals might attack her —”
“There are no wild animals out there,” your great-aunt said with a cold tone. Earning a look from your parents. They watch as she lets out a sigh, placing the ribbon on your mother’s hands who could only cover her mouth, preventing herself from crying.
“We must do something!” your father said.
“There’s nothing we can do about it,” your great-aunt sternly said. She glances up to the sky, the moon is in its full brightness. The eclipse is over.
“She’s chosen by the deity to be his lover. If there’s one creature that you don’t want to anger, that’s him,” she stated. “He can easily kill your daughter in a split second if we interfere.”
“But what about yn?” your mother asked.
“Let’s just hope that she’ll be fine in the hands of the deity.”

The One Where Lucas Adams is Sick
Age Rating: 12+
Chapters: One of One
Fandom: Grey’s Anatomy
AN: Here’s another one shot request I hope this satisfies you Shepherd and whump fans out there.
Canon Episode: Grey’s Anatomy in between Season 20 episode 3 and 4
Summary: Lucas Adams is sick with the flu but tries to work until Amelia, Link and Amber tell him to rest.
Words: 2422
Lucas Adams takes a deep breath outside the elevator doors trying to regain his energy. He woke up this morning feeling like he crawled out of a carnival port a potty. His head feels stuffed with cotton, his nose is clogged and even moving his arm feels like he’s lifting a ton. He knew this was the beginning stages of the flu symptoms and he knows this because his chief resident Amber DeLuca gave a big speech about working during flu season including how doctors have an unspoken rule that when the surgeon stays home a patient suffers as well as the doctors who have to cover for them so with all your might you push through.
He decided to do exactly that and push through the illness that came at the worst possible time. His personal and professional life is a mess right now and he has to crash with his aunt Amelia and cousin Scout. It was difficult at first but eventually they found their rhythm. Now he just has to survive intern year after botching it up so bad. He sniffles when the elevator doors open revealing Amber DeLuca and Amelia Shepherd inside talking as they hold their babies. He quickly goes inside standing a respectable distance from Amber who is holding her 1-year-old daughter Lucy who is in a Winnie the Pooh shortall set with her short dark brown hair in pigtails. Amelia is holding his 3-year-old cousin Scout who is sporting a yellow hoodie and jeans.
“Adams.” He grunts back at his chief resident who looks him over, “You look like hell.”
He chuckles lightly at that blunt comment, “Yeah well, I just got back. It’s the flu but don’t worry I’m pushing through it Dr. DeLuca.” He stops and sneezes into his elbow causing Amber to groan in disgust covering her baby away from his direction, “Sorry.”
Amelia looks at him concerned, “Maybe you should go home and rest. I’m sure we can survive without you here there are plenty of interns.”
Amber shakes her head at that, “Over a third of them called in sick this week.” Amelia glares at Amber for encouraging Lucas to stay here, “What? It’s not my fault.”
Lucas clears his throat, “I’ll be fine I’m pushing through it.”
“Well, I put you on the pit today so you should be in your element in the flu warzone.”
Adams groans at that and tries to change it, “Dr. DeLuca if you wouldn’t mind putting me on your service in peds I could really use the hours up there.”
Amber chuckles at that, “If you think I’m gonna let you anywhere around my young and vulnerable patients maybe you should go home because the flu is making you foggy in the head. The pit is where you’re going and if you have a problem with how it interferes with your little checklist you got because you screwed the pooch take it to someone who cares.”
“This is exactly why we call you The Kraken.” Amber glares at Adams comment with her baby in arms that doesn’t diminish her wrath. Amelia purses her lips at this awkward moment and Lucas looks terrified, “I said that out loud, didn’t I?”
“Yep.” Amelia tells him.
“Adams, I know you and your class call me The Kraken because I remind you of the mythical creature that destroys ships and drowns sailors. I take no insults in that because kind words for bosses show weakness in their work structure do I come off as weak to you Adams?”
He clears his throat, “No ma’am your as strong as a diamond.” Amelia narrows her eyes at him confused, “I-It’s the hardest rock in the world and even though it gives off a shiny and pretty appearance it can crush your skull with a hard enough whack to the head. Y-You give off that vibe Dr. DeLuca.”
“…Your safe.” Adams exhales relieved, “But your still in the pit and if you feel any worse do your patients a favor and go home.”
“I agree with her, Scout what about you? Do you agree with the mean chief resident about your cousin?” Scout nods at that in an adorable way causing Amelia and Amber to aww at that while Lucas rolls his eyes before sneezing again. The elevator doors open to their relief and they exit with Adams a little worse for wear as he walks to the lockers with Amelia looking on in worry.
4 Hours Later
After countless sutures and prescriptions for antibiotics Adams leans forward against the station on his elbows to close his eyes for a quick moment. He feels like crawling into one of the empty beds in the pit and sleeping for a week but he knows he can’t do that. He was a teenager when his uncle Derek died but the one piece of advice from him he committed to memory was the unspoken rule that surgeons push through. It’s ironic a rule that is supposed to be unspoken has been spoken all over this hospital.
He stands up straight and walks over to his next patient but fumbles on the way causing Link to catch him before he falls to the ground.
“Whoa Adams are you okay?” Link asks as he helps him up, “Did you catch the flu bug too?”
Lucas groans and answers in a nasally voice, “Unfortunately. I’ll be fine though don’t worry you’re not gonna lose another intern.”
“I’m actually more concerned about you dropping dead when you should be resting.” Adams rolls his eyes at Link who chuckles, “Hey I get it man intern year is a beast and with everything that’s going on in your class I get the need to keep going. At least make it until you feel like vomiting because God knows our patients don’t want to be in the crossfire.”
Yasuda walks up to Link wearing a mask, “Dr. Lincoln I already discharged four of the patients with antibiotics and I popped your sprained ankle in bed 7 is there anything else I can do?”
“Just keep doing what your doing Yasuda coordinate with Adams so we can discharge patients faster and leave the pit open for emergencies.” Yasuda rolls her eyes at that command clearly still peeved at Adams for what happened with Bailey’s patient. She turns around scoffing with Link catching whiff and turns to Adams, “What was that about?”
“I kind of snaked a procedure from her after I left her with a patient so I could fill in my hours.” Link raises an eyebrow at that accusingly causing Adams to be defensive, “The patient was coding I was in the room there wasn’t enough time to explain to Dr. Bailey about Yasuda diagnosing the patient I had to act first or the patient would be dead.”
“And after you saved the patient did you explain to Dr. Bailey about how Yasuda did the grunt work while you were off on your procedure hunt?” Adams is silent for a moment confirming his answer, “That’s what I thought. Lucas, I know I’m not technically your uncle since your aunt and I aren’t together anymore but I feel the need to give you tough love like one. If you want to get back in the O.R. then do it the honest way otherwise you’re never gonna be the surgeon you want to be. Besides the way you’re going you really don’t want to piss off your friends right now.”
Lucas sighs, “Do you think this is why Amber DeLuca hates me?”
“She hates anybody she perceives as a spoiled brat who didn’t work as hard as she did. And you screwing up a lot in the beginning doesn’t help your case.”
Lucas shakes head at his misfortune, “So basically I’m screwed.”
“Your only screwed if you let yourself get screwed. And the way to do that is to keep pushing through and doing your job until you feel like passing out.”
“Okay.” Lucas walks a few feet away from Link until he stumbles a little as his stomach takes an even worse turn. He catches himself on the bed that feels so good against his hands. He crawls up to the bed and lies on his side in a fetal position holding his stomach and groaning in agony. He closes his eyes for a minute until the sweet sensation of slumber takes him. While he is sleeping Link watches from a distance in amusement as well as Amber who sighs.
“He lasted longer than I thought he would.”
Link nods, “Yasuda set up a patient room for him with an iv of LR and 4 milligrams of Zofran.”
Mika snaps her gloves off frustrated, “Do you want me to give him the deluxe treatment package as well?”
Amber glares at Yasuda, “Yasuda.” Mika walks away after that stern tone of voice.
ONE HOUR LATER
Lucas slowly opens his eyes that feel like their glued shut. His sight slowly returns to normal making him see that instead of the pit he’s in a patient room but the view tells him he’s in the bed. He sits up groaning at the muscle aches and feels a small hand touch his shoulder.
“Try not to overexert yourself.” He turns his head to find Amelia by his side. He sighs at his continued misfortune but slumps back into bed, “How are you feeling?”
“Like I got run over by an 18-wheeler.”
“Yeah, the flu will do that to you.” He looks to his right and is surprised to see Amber DeLuca here as well checking on his monitor and IV, “You were dehydrated so Link and I had Yasuda set up an IV for you.”
Lucas tries to sit up, “Great I can get back to the pit while carrying this IV around.”
“Stay!” Amelia’s stern voice startles him but he does what she says, “Now Lucas, you toughed it out for four hours but at some point, you reach your limit. I did when I got sick intern year and I’m sure your chief resident has too.”
Lucas scoffs at that thinking she is just trying to soften the blow, “Yeah? Did you crawl into a bed at the pit and get in a fetal position?”
“I threw up on my mentor’s new shoes that he bragged about and spent that night facedown in the toilet in shame and pain.” Lucas looks surprised by his aunt’s story causing her to grin, “It felt like when I was in withdrawal only more humiliating.”
“That is bad.” He turns to Amber, “What about you? Did you get sick intern year?”
“Karev’s don’t get sick.” Amelia chuckles at Amber’s tough attitude, “It’s a prideful trait of ours, what we lack in sunny dispositions we make up for in strong immune systems. But that doesn’t mean you should work today after you passed out, you hung tough Adams take pride in that while you rehydrate and eat awful chicken soup from a can. Yasuda will be back to check on you later.” The mention of Yasuda brings him back to the subject he and Link talked about. Amber is by the door when his conscience catches up to him.
“Dr. DeLuca?” Amber turns back to Lucas who clears his throat before starting, “Last week before me and Dr. Bailey operated on Dorian Cardenas…it was Yasuda who made the abdominal compartment syndrome diagnosis not me.” Amber looks at him in surprise as well as Amelia, “I was busy trying to get more hours for my procedure logs and Yasuda was by his bedside all day. She was getting a cutdown tray while I was in the room when Dr. Bailey came in and told me to assist her in the ex-lap. I didn’t have time to explain while our patient was coding but I have time now to tell you and make sure she gets credit where credit is due. I’m sorry.”
Amber looks disappointed at first but it diminishes a second later, “When your attending gives you an assignment to monitor a patient you monitor him. Your lucky as hell that Yasuda was there or you would have left him alone for a treasure hunt and you’d be under a mountain of litigations. Again.” Lucas nods taking the scorn with Amelia standing by also disappointed in him, “Now if you weren’t sick, I would give you such a painful ass kicking that your grandkids would feel it. What I can do is tell you to do better. Your already at rock bottom Adams you have nowhere to go but up.” He sighs at that, “Now thank you for telling me and I will be sure to tell Bailey about this. As well as taking back the credit you got from that ex lap and giving it to Yasuda instead.” He groans at that step back, “It was your choice to tell me.”
“I didn’t want to rick Yasuda poisoning my IV.” Amber nods at that, “Plus I can’t afford to have all of my peers hate me.”
“They already hate you.” Lucas chuckles lightly at that, “Nowhere to go but up Adams and I respect a guy who admitted his dumbass mistake and ask for forgiveness than a soulless jackass who sharked a friend.”
Lucas raises an eyebrow at that statement and turns to Amelia, “Did she give me a compliment? It’s really hard to tell with her.”
Amelia shrugs, “I honestly can’t tell with her either.”
“I’m not the warm and fuzzy type, blame it on my brothers.” Amber exits the room leaving Adams stumped on his enigmatic chief resident.
“Was your chief resident that…complex?” Amelia chuckles at that question.
“No but then again I didn’t have a hot woman in charge who could rip my head off with her bare hands.” Amelia looks at the clock and realizes she’s off work, “Do you want me to pick you up some soup from that Chinese restaurant you like so much? It’s better than that canned crap.”
Lucas sighs and wants to tell his aunt he’s not a child but his hunger calls to him and the soup is the best in all of Seattle, “Can you add some fried dumplings too?”
“I was gonna get that for myself but I guess I can share. I’ll be right back.” Amelia covers his upper torso with a blanket and squeezes his shoulder in comfort before leaving him to get him that chicken soup he so clearly wants and needs.

💯, 🩹, 🐉, ☕️, 👨👩👧👦?
(Sudden burst of energy to write in-character so HERE WE GO. I’m gonna write in character as Mr Knick-Knack, a master au version of Merry :)c )
The cloaked figure looks up as you enter the room, already patiently (or rather, impatiently, as it’s claws tapped on the table) waiting for questions.
💯 — share three random facts about your oc that others may not know.
It huffs at the easy first answer. Facts about itself. Yes. It could do that.
“Fact number one,” it speaks finally, “I have been intrigued by you humans for a long time. One thing that I love besides… hmmm… the items I collect from your kind. I love to try your meals.” They lick their lips, just a hint of a long pink tongue emerging for a split second from under the hood.
“I guess you could say I have… a sweet tooth.”
“Fact number two. Reading and art is a favorite past time. I would inform you… do not tell that Pages this next part. Or you might find… something rather unpleasant might happen to you.” It hisses lowly. Was that a threat?
“I read many of the literature that it would deem… unsavory. Things that it would see censored for the city.” It sounded smug saying this.
“And your final fact,” it leans forward, eyes narrowing,
“I have seen many battles. I have fought many life-threatening things. Things… including your very own kind. The blood of a master, after all… is worth much to you creatures. Nevertheless. I am still here, am I not?”
🩹 — does your oc have any physical and/or mental disabilities?
It simply shakes its head.
🐉 — what is your oc's favorite mythical creature?
“An interesting question…” it hums, “your human tales of terror and wonder simply amaze. And amuse. For instance. Your dragons. They look nothing like they really do-“ it grins under the hood, teeth flashing in the candlelight.
“But your tales of the sea are my favorites. Sea serpents… larger beasts that could swallow a boat whole… I wonder if any such things really do exist down there…”
☕️ — does your oc prefer coffee, tea, hot chocolate, milk, water, or some other drink? how do they like to take this drink (ex. coffee with milk, hot chocolate with whipped cream, a specific kind of tea, etc)?
“Coffees and teas. Straight black coffee as dark as the skies without stars.” It sighs wistfully.
“I may have a sweet tooth, but I’d prefer that in things I can bite into.” There’s the sound of clicking teeth under their hood.
👨👩👧👦 — how many people are in your oc's immediate family? how many people are in your oc's extended family? do they have aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents, etc? who in their family are they closest with? are they close with their birth family, or do they have a found family?
The tapping claws suddenly stop and you feel its eyes burn into you.
“As far as I’m concerned, I have no family.” It hisses,
“The only one I would ever desire to see again would be my sibling. Taken too early from my side-“ their claws dig into the wood of the table.
“Now leave. Inform no others of what you have heard here.” It waves you off out of the room and shuts the door behind it. Seems like you brought up a touchy subject.

Luckily she was saved fast but sadly had no family to care for her and was only identified by her mother who died shortly after talking to the police and telling them her name and age. Sha ends up staying in the car of the officer who saved her and his friend, Mr Jazi (it means "to revenge") Marwan who works as an assistant of a high end business, until the caught the criminals and found someone to take care of her.
The police finally found out about an aunt and uncle who can take care of her but they live back in the family's home country which made everyone involved in the case feel uncomfortable, so she stayed in the care of Jazi as a semi foster care home until they found a better option. As expected, Jazi ad Sha grew attached and when hearing she might be given to the system to be adopted he stood up and volunteered to take her in. The judge allows it and the two became a odd family. This was also helpful due to Jazi's boss having a little girl her age that plays with Sha when he brings her to the office to work.
Sha got spoiled rotten by Jazi and his boss as she went to good schools and got great grades and often help with Jazi's work load when she was old enough to help read numbers. Currently she still has that job and goes to college with her friends. Her family's murder was never caught

Heads Up 7 Up Tag Game
Tagged by @akiwitch — thank you! Here are the last 7 lines of Murder in Saint Salma Parish, a modern supernatural story in which Mary Ann learns that her estranged, eccentric Aunt Valda’s heart going missing isn’t the most shocking thing going on in the tiny parish. The pet shop is 100% trafficking mythical creatures, the raven in the cemetery might be a god, and the painting of bigfoot in Aunt Valda’s home simply cannot be trusted not to tell a devastating joke.
“Oh for sure, it’s the end of the world if the ritual rips Mal and Saint Salma Parish apart. But you and Gilly have everything you need to make sure it’s not.” “What happens if Mal—” Mary Ann’s nightmare came back: the dark oily flakes that the world became as it was unmade, everything she touched dissolving beneath her fingers, the disintegration expanding ever outward, spilling through the gates of the Saint Salma cemetery. Mal croaked and sprang from the mausoleum’s roof, her talons a second too late in leaving the stone, and the shreds of her existence unraveling into nothing. Tombstones shattered into the silvered essence of those who once slept and graves disgorged their bones up into stumbling people again. “Without Mal, the dead return.”
Tagging @luwianskies — any chance of a taste of those words you wrote last night? Never any pressure, of course. :}

10 + 1 Wangxian Recs - Theme Myhical Creatures/Shapeshifters
I am currently mostly in MDZS (Mo Dao Zu Shi/Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation) fandom. And fully and wholeheartily shipping Lan Wangji/Wei Wuxian. And since I have collected 2000+ Wangxian bookmarks on AO3 I thought it was high time to pick out some of my favourite fics to Recommend. But since it is hard to pic just a few I decided to separate them into themes.
This theme is fics where either/both of Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji are some kind of animal or mythical creature shapeshifter/hybrid. Most common is Fox Wei Wuxian and Dragon Lan Wangji.
A Mother’s Curse (A Mother’s Blessing) by Eudoxia
https://archiveofourown.org/works/32194453
Summary:To avoid an arranged marriage, Lan Wangji places a curse on himself, one that can only be undone by his soulmate. He knows his family—particularly the elders—are upset about it, but Lan Wangji will not marry someone he does not love.Or, huli jing Lan Wangji curses himself to be trapped in his fox form until his soulmate comes along to free him. Enter, Wei Wuxian.
many fox given by defractum (nyargles)
https://archiveofourown.org/works/28178061
Summary:Lan Zhan is glaring at him. That's probably fair. The last time they'd seen each other, Wei Ying had been digging through Lan Zhan's garbage. They'd made eye contact over the shredded bags, the week's trash scattered around him like stinky, oversized Lego.Lan Zhan's eyes had been wide with horror, and Wei Ying's had been equally wide with feigned innocence. He'd reached out slowly, maintaining the eye contact, and then flipped over the food waste bin full of onion peel and carrot skin as a distraction and slunk off into the night. Probably not his finest moment.-Modern AU dragon!LWJ meets fox!WWX.
Cultivation of the Pack by Midshipsman
https://archiveofourown.org/works/28481901
Summary:A modern werewolf AU: Cultivator clans are all werewolf packs, hidden from the mundanes but still fighting to keep the world safe. Years ago, the Yiling Alpha was defeated, his pack all slain, but now he has been summoned back into the body Mo Xuanyu, an omega from the Mo Pack. Now Wei Ying is alone, packless, an omega out on his own... And the full moon, with its erotic frenzy, is in just two days. Luckily, Wei Ying soon runs into someone from his past: Lan Zhan, an alpha and an old friend, who is more than happy to give Wei Ying his bite and welcome him into his pack—and his bed.
Lay All Your Love In Me by Dei_Starr (DeiStarr), DeiStarr
https://archiveofourown.org/works/27290881
Summary:Bunny!Hybrid Wei Ying and Dragon!Hybrid Lan Zhan sneak around Cloud Recesses in a clandestine relationship until they eventually get caught together. A hasty marriage is arranged to avoid any possible scandal.Since they aren't allowed to see each other until the wedding, Wei Ying is just grateful that they talked about all of the important things ahead of time - yes, they want to get married eventually so it won't matter if somebody catches them together; Lan Zhan will need to get Wei Ying pregnant with his eggs when they want to have children; Wei Ying is Trans Male, AFAB; etc.So it's not like there'll be any unexpected surprises on their wedding night, right?
come away, o human child by merelydovely
https://archiveofourown.org/works/30345987
Summary:“Who was it, shijie?” asks Wei Ying after a short silence. “Who was the dragon in disguise?”“The tall, serious man in white,” says Jiang Yanli calmly, unaware of the way she’s just torn the bottom out of Wei Ying’s stomach. “He was wearing a ribbon around his forehead. Otherwise I might not have made the connection.”Oh fuck, thinks Wei Ying. Lan Zhan is a fucking dragon?---Wei Ying is invited to visit the home of his enigmatic new friend Lan Wangji. It just so happens that Lan Wangji’s home is a mountain palace full of immortal water guardians who all seem to have extremely alien ideas about what’s appropriate in public.
These Mortal Treasures by ChilianXianzi
https://archiveofourown.org/works/31960087
Summary:"Is that something that Wei Ying would like?" Lan Wangji asks softly, carefully, "To be kept?"There's that fleeting, lost look in Wei Ying's eyes once more, and Lan Wangji thinks it's unacceptable - That Wei Ying had not felt welcomed in his own home, so much so that he decided to wander the world away from it. So much so that he is afraid that he would be unwelcome as well elsewhere.Lan Wangji barely stops himself from hissing, from letting the steam of his icy breath escape in the close air between them. He only vaguely remembers the Jiangs, a young Cultivation Clan barely a century old, but his disdain towards them feels ancient now in the wake of all this. How foolish of them, to simply let go of someone so bright, someone so unfailingly kind and giving. How convenient, for Lan Wangji's own gain.
破镜重圆 / love always wakes the dragon by lianhua_lianzi
https://archiveofourown.org/works/32380378
Summary:“So, let me get this straight,” Wei Wuxian said through a mouthful of egg. “You’re an immortal dragon. Your name is Lan Zhan, courtesy name Lan Wangji, whatever that means—you don’t look like a Wangji—and I’ve been feeding you and bathing you and telling you my most embarrassing secrets for the past month?” Wei Wuxian’s past life comes home to roost when he finds a dragon at his door.
wind and rain by hauntedotamatone
https://archiveofourown.org/works/32904709
Summary:Wei Wuxian is sent away to his death in order to save the sect that raised him off of the streets from a slow and painful end. He does not expect to find someone just as bound by obligation as himself.Summary:The very oldest citizens of Yunmeng, only two of them remaining, remember the last time that rain ceased to fall and the wind stopped blowing, and they remember well what finally brought it back. It’s in the Jiang Clan annals as well, but this particular secret is well kept. One hundred years ago, a great-great aunt of the current sect leader was sent up the mountain in wedding red.She did not return, but the rain did.So, there is nothing else to do.
Paths of Light and Darkness Converge by ataratah
https://archiveofourown.org/works/31952545
Summary:Everyone knows that Wei Wuxian died before the Sunshot Campaign even began.Everyone knows that the Yiling Patriarch is a huli jing, a trickster fox spirit, that practices demonic cultivation for nefarious purposes.Everyone knows that there’s no way a righteous sect, let alone the hidebound Lan sect, would accept the Yiling Patriarch into their clan....Everyone is wrong.Or, when the notorious Yiling Patriarch marries Hanguang Jun to save the Wens, nothing in the cultivation world will ever be the same again.
Fox breeding by Anonymous
https://archiveofourown.org/works/26724472
Summary:In theory, the malleable nature of a fox-spirit’s body made them the ideal partner for a dragon seeking to lay their eggs, it was really a wonder that there were no records of any match between the two clans. There was no precedent they could imitate for what they were about to try. Instead they would have to improvise, but Wei Wuxian was a master at improvising, and with his beloved husband at his side, there were no limits to what he could achieve.
Magic Carpet Ride by ariskamalt
https://archiveofourown.org/works/31419680
Summary:In a cave appears a dragon.Wei Wuxian, of course, gets fucked.

Prompt 1: Foster
Koriah hadn’t ever seemed a part of the family. Not really. She seemed more mythical creature than Elezen noble to Adelaide. Even the circumstances of her birth, which Adelaide vaguely recalled her parents gossiping about when she was 3 years old, was outside the norm for the family and more like a supernatural gift, like a fairy child being bestowed upon the family rather than the product of nature or love. Her parents would speak all the time about how imminent it was that her aunt and uncle would soon be the first Azmeriens to sever their ‘eternal bond’ and that they hadn’t so much as opened a door for one another or said a word in kindness to each other in the 2 years since they’d been wed.
Then one day her aunt and uncle showed up at her parents’ door holding hands. Holding -ungloved hands-. Holding ungloved hands with their skin touching for everyone to see. And they were smiling. And they were laughing. And they said such scandalous and, frankly, uncomfortable things as “I love you” right in front of everyone! That wasn’t a phrase Adelaide heard all that often outside of children’s tales. It wasn’t something her family ever said. Not in public, not in private, not even in jest, not ever.
And then they did it. They kissed. Still in full view of the whole family! And this was not the usual polite kiss on the cheek or kiss on the back of (gloved!) hands for which Adelaide was so familiar. They kissed each other on the lips. They tilted their heads, smiling, and then put their lips together and 3 year old Adelaide saw it and -frankly- it was weird and she didn’t understand it at all. What was the point of that? She thought maybe it looked kind of gross. When she looked around at the rest of her immediate family with their jaws dropped and their eyes quickly darting away to look at something, anything!, else, her 3 year old thoughts were confirmed. That was definitely weird and gross. If it wasn’t her family wouldn’t react that way. Right?
And it was after that kiss that the announcement had been made. Her aunt was pregnant! And she and Adelaide’s uncle were -happy- about it. Oh, there was plenty of gossip about how the kid must have belonged to another man because she’d been having an affair and the whole lovey-dovey thing was just a public display to squash exactly the rumors that the lovey-dovey display had actually instigated instead. There were teams of couples who’d come over for weekly card, chess, or mahjong nights who would spend the evenings drinking expensive brandy with her parents and betting on who the actual father was. But to everyone’s great astonishment, when Koriah was born she already had a crop of bright red hair the exact same color as her father’s. As she grew up she shared the same striking green eyes as her father as well. Of course, by that point all the gossip had moved on to other couples and their possible infidelities and short-comings and the shock of Koriah’s arrival and the affection between her parents had completely been disregarded.
But not by Adelaide who carried that with her as one of her first memories and would continue to reflect on it as she grew older.
And as her cousin Koriah did not.
The sudden announcement of Koriah’s death when Adelaide was 25 and Koriah was 22 came as much as a surprise as the announcement of her arrival had.
Maybe it shouldn’t have. Koriah Azmerien had always been warm and sunny in personality (or what her detractors would call: ‘frivolous in demeanor’). She didn’t take anything too seriously. She wore what she wanted to. She went wherever she felt. And she genuinely did not care at all about what people said to or about her. When Adelaide would be stuck with insecurity regarding what she should say to someone (or -not- say to someone) at public events, Koriah never understood. She’d say, “If you introduce yourself and they are unimpressed, they are the problem not you. So why worry about it?”
Well, Adelaide worried about it because her mother worried about it. And her sister worried about it. And two of her brothers worried about it. And she’d heard plenty of gossip that told her that she should worry about it. Why didn’t Koriah worry about it!? She’d one day be heading her family’s estate as well, shouldn’t she want to make the right impressions to the right people? Wasn’t she as stuck in this stifling, rules heavy society as Adelaide was?
That answer cleared itself up fairly quickly. At 19 Koriah said she was going off to see the world outside of Ishgard to learn what she could about other places. She longed to see other venues, other people, to taste other foods.
What she really wanted to do was see the Limsan ocean. She’d stared longingly at painted pictures of the ocean since she’d been so small she teetered and fell down more than she actually walked. The bubbly child would get quiet and listen with rapt attention to any story that featured dashing rogues and pirates by the seaside or that told tale of giant sea monsters or seductive sirens. Koriah’s parents eventually tired of buying their daughter stories about the ocean, perhaps wanting her to focus more on Coerthan tales of might and adventure instead, but the ocean had Koriah’s heart. So when her aunt and uncle stopped providing the books… Adelaide found a way to sneak books to her young cousin about high sea adventures instead.
And as Koriah grew older, her taste for the seafaring stories grew as well. Moving past the usual children’s tales, her book collection became… rather more ‘adult’ in nature-- much to Adelaide’s sheltered embarrassment who until her cousin had showed her the collection of erotic and romantic Limsan pirate and rogue stories had not even thought such a thing had existed. By that age, late teens, Adelaide had, of course, known that kissing was a thing. That touching was a thing. That the common folk would sometimes disappear into dark alleys and do… things. But she’d been raised by a very strict mother who had made it clear that such things were ‘crass’ and ‘unladylike’ and that as the future head of the Azmerien household, the future of the Azmerien name, she had best not ever think of such things.
Being told not to think of such things and then being shown books that wrote -exactly- of such things of course meant that Adelaide would rebel. She thought about ‘such things’ frequently. But she’d never -buy- such a book. She’d just borrow them. Where did Koriah even find those? Wasn’t she embarrassed to be seen with them?
No. The answer was no. She said someone had taken the time to write those things so someone might as well take the time to read them. She didn’t make it a point to read them in public and she hid them in her room so they weren’t immediately on display-- but she did not hide that she purchased them herself. “And if someone were to take time to read them, that someone ought to purchase them herself rather than sending out a servant to do it for her.”
So when Koriah said she was ‘off to see the world’, Adelaide knew that she was ‘off to see the ocean.’ And when she imagined Koriah out in Limsa Lominsa she imagined her capturing hearts and scandalous kisses the same way the heroines in her books did. She only wondered if it’d be a pirate or a rogue that she’d end up running away with in the end.
It was a rogue, apparently. Letters from Koriah came back regularly… until they didn’t. Koriah’s parents and younger brother received the boring letters that spoke of Limsan gossip and fashion. Adelaide received the letters that spoke of the things her cousin actually cared about.
And the things she loved.
And the boy she loved.
And that boy’s goofy little brother.
The boy was named Lysander Winsome and he was a key figure in some sort of thieving gang based in Limsa, but it wasn’t the life he wanted anymore. He wanted out. He wanted to save enough to buy a ship-- his dream was an airship because his heart belonged to the sky as much as Koriah’s belonged to the ocean-- and he wanted to get away with only what mattered most to him: his brother and Koriah. She thought it’d be easier to buy a ship they could sail on the ocean. That’d be a dream easier and quicker to reach and while they worked on the ship they could have adventures and save enough for the airship. But what if-- what if one day they had a ship that functioned as both? Wouldn’t that be amazing? Would Adelaide want to come to visit on a vessel that could both sail and fly?
Adelaide wrote that of course she would. But honestly, it was all a little hard to believe. Koriah’s letters sounded as much fiction as any of the books she’d left hidden in her bedroom. Maybe these letters were just fantasy. Maybe they were meant as fun reads when her reality was really just the boring letters about Limsan gossip, sales prices, and fashion that she sent to her immediate family. And she continued to think this until the letters became more sporadic and then stopped all together.
And until she met the goofy little brother.
Adelaide had assumed that ‘Winsome’ was a made up last name. No one was named that. That was an adjective, not a name. But when the 12 (or was it 13?) year old boy with chestnut colored hair, the oversized @dumb-hat swallowing up most of his face so that she could hardly see his amber eyes, looked up at her and then grinned so wide that what she saw of his eyes lit up, and told her that was his real last name… Adelaide knew that it was both an accurate adjective and a real last name.
Koriah’s last correspondence to her family was a letter that Evander clutched in his hands, written in her hand, beseeching them to care for him if he arrived without her and making clear that she gave him all rights to her property-- including her inheritance-- and that her final wish was that he be treated as the family that he was. She had married the boy’s brother in secret and in the absence of her and Lysander-- Evander Winsome was all that was left of her and should be treated with the same love and courtesy that she had been treated when she was there.
She never said ‘alive’ or ‘dead’ in the letter. But everyone knew what it meant.
What Evander did not know and would not ever know, was that a week before he arrived to Ishgard without her cousin, Koriah had written Adelaide a letter too. That letter contained two notarized copies of a will that made legally official and binding that Evander was her heir and was to receive all her property and inheritance. It was sent to Adelaide to ensure that the one person in the family that Koriah trusted as much as herself would have it and could speak up for the young boy in the unfortunate possibility that Koriah’s family would pretend they had never received a letter of their own and tried to wash their hands of Evander.
The letter also read:
“Adelaide,
The storms in Limsa have made the ocean more alive than ever. It thrashes and dances with such exuberance that it makes me want to dance as well. The white sea foam reminds me of the lace hems on the dresses you and I loved so much as children: the ones that would twirl when we’d spin. I wish you could see it.
Lysander and I plan to make our escape soon. I never told you before because I didn’t want to worry you, but the gang did not take it well when Lysander made it clear that he wanted to strike out on his own. In fact, while we don’t speak of it because we don’t want Evander to overhear it, we’re fairly certain they plan to retaliate. As of now we plan to board a trading vessel that will take us out of Limsa Lominsa-- maybe even out of La Noscea entirely. We’ll head somewhere new and see the ocean there. Lysander wants to try his hand at opening a jewelry shop. He thinks he’d like to be a goldsmith. But his dreams and ambitions change as much as the sea does- so when we get to the new place he might decide to do something else entirely! I look forward to it. We both do.
But on the off-chance that we never see that dream come true and that the Limsan ocean is the last one we see, I will pay for Evander’s trip aboard another vessel with a few people I trust and see that he gets to Ishgard. Please welcome him. I don’t know how long he’ll choose to stay-- but I hope he gets a chance to foster new relationships, experiences and a new family while there.
And on the off-chance I never see you again: I love you. I know that’s not a thing the family says. But sometimes it has to be said.
The books belong to Evander now. But you let him know I said that you can keep borrowing them.
Koriah.”
Thank you to @dumb-hat for letting me use his character and his backstory NPCs here! This timeline is certainly not 100% correct, but rather than stressing myself out trying to work out the exact ages and whens and whats-- I’m reminding myself that this is just about getting some writing out there and that I can fix the details later!

In derry girls, what did you think of the episode where clare came out? Im irish (republic) and gay so i love that it was included, but some of the language used makes me uncomfortable i guess? I get that NI in the 90s wasnt very accepting but the directors have said that they already portrayed it through rose coloured glasses so having michelle say d*ke feels unnecessary. I love the show though and can certainly look past it! I was just interested in what you thought :)))
Hey anon!
Personally I love this episode of Derry Girls! In fact it’s probably my favourite episodes. I already liked Clare as a character throughout the series, probably because I relate to her a bit too much, so to have her be revealed as gay was just like the icing on the cake. Good representation for northern Irish characters are few and far between, and gay northern Irish characters are basically non existent. Derry Girls was this hit TV show that provided many with the first chance to see themselves represented meaningfully on TV, and that includes myself.
However, I think there’s a lot of really important stuff in this episode that people either don’t notice or just don’t really talk about, which I do understand because Derry Girls is, at the end of the day, a comedy and it’s much more fun to quote characters like Aunt Sarah saying “you cannot move for lesbians these days” than to think about the darker side of Northern Ireland.
(T/W for homophobia discussion!!!)
(Also this sort of turned into a ramble about acceptance by the end of the post but I just have a lot of feelings on what Derry girls represents and I feel like non northern Irish viewers maybe don’t catch onto that because they don’t have the necessary context)
Derry Girls, as a show, is so interesting and personal to me because it manages to perfectly strike the balance between presenting Northern Ireland as a deeply flawed and divided country, but also presenting it as a place where people can be happy and live their lives to the fullest despite the ever present danger of the troubles. And that’s a genuinely refreshing portrayal of N.I that we usually don’t get. However I’d argue that if Derry Girls doesn’t at least try and illustrate, to some extent, the causal and very rampant homophobia of northern Ireland then it runs the risk of romanticising Northern Ireland at the time, which I think is incredibly dangerous. I do think that the show is intentionally more digestible and does filter things through rose tinted glasses, however I’d argue that simply glossing over the homophobia would have actually been a bit disrespectful to the queer history of Northern Ireland and could erase the experiences and struggles of the LGBTQ community in N.I, both then and now. If the show doesn’t acknowledge that things were shitty then we paint an inaccurate picture of what it was like, and arguably still is like, to be gay in Northern Ireland. And considering that Derry Girls is one of the very few good depictions of Northern Ireland, it’s incredibly important that it’s an honest depiction.
You specifically asked about Michelle, but I think it’s important to talk about Michelle and Erin in relation to one another, and how they are both products of their time and of a deeply homophobic society.
(Now I’m going to briefly discuss Michelle’s use of the d-slur here however I just want to acknowledge that I’m probably not the best person to talk about this since it’s a lesbian specific slur and I’m not a lesbian. I welcome any additions to this post!)
I think Michelle sort of represents the overt and “loud” homophobia that’s present in our society. Michelle saying the d-slur is far from the first homophobic thing she says. I mean It’s literally a running gag in series one that she calls James “gay” constantly. And the sad thing is that Michelle’s off handed comments throughout the series are incredibly realistic to what you’d hear in Northern Ireland even today. I remember the f-slur being chanted during break time at my primary school, without anyone fully understanding what that word meant. Michelle is a representation of the homophobia that’s deeply ingrained into N.I to the point where it’s not even thought about or even seen as an issue. I mean...no one ever really talks about Michelle’s comments. Now whether or not they had to include her saying a slur specifically to illustrate the homophobia of N.I is not for me to say. You could change that sentence in the script and I think the point of Michelle representing “loud” and homophobia would still stand.
On the other hand...I think Erin represents the much more insidious and “quiet” homophobia.
Firstly, she has no issue with capitalising off a very personal essay for her own gain, shrugs off any protests that this might be wrong and doesn’t consider how her actions may hurt the writer of this piece (who is later revealed to be Clare).
Even the language she uses is a bit uncomfortable, saying that “a real life lesbian walks among us”. Are lesbians wild animals or mythical creatures? That seems to be what Erin is implying here. Plus Erin tries to make it out to others such as Sister Michael that she’s doing this because she genuinely believes in equal rights and wishes to stick up for the LGBT community, but when Clare actually tries to come out Erin is clearly confused and she reacts very badly. I mean, Erin literally says she doesn’t want Clare to come out and demands she get back in the closet, and you can see how hurt Clare is by this reaction. And this scene is kind of played for laughs and I think that straight viewers probably found Erin’s reaction quite funny...but this scene hit way too close to home for me. It’s the classic “I have nothing against gay people, but I’d just rather I didn’t have a gay friend/child/co-worker because they make me uncomfortable” that’s way too common in Northern Ireland. It’s the idea that people can present themselves as liberal and open minded, but when finally confronted with something that doesn’t fit their narrative, their societal conditioning kicks in.
As a queer woman, it was never Michelle’s causal homophobia that made me uncomfortable, it was Erin’s reaction...because it hit way too close to home. It’s a perfect representation of the “quiet” homophobia that’s still a massive issue in Northern Ireland today.
(Also the context of when Derry Girls was released is super important! Series one of Derry Girls was released in 2018...but Gay marriage wasn’t actually legalised in Northern Ireland until January of 2020 and even then it was quite contested by conservatives. Now I’m not saying there’s social commentary here but that’s absolutely what I’m saying.)
Now I’m not saying that Michelle or Erin themselves are homophobic, nor am I saying that they’re bad people. I think that they are teenagers that have absorbed a lot of homophobic rhetoric due to the time and the society that they live in. Although Erin’s reaction to Clare trying to come out was painful to watch because it felt so real, I don’t think her reaction was malicious. Erin is a teenager who has grown up in a homophobic society and now doesn’t really know how to react to this new reality and probably didn’t realise how hurtful she was being to Clare. (This isn’t me trying to excuse her reaction, again I am part of the LGBT community and I’ve experienced that exact same reaction from people, it’s me trying to understand Erin’s reaction). Erin and Michelle have both absorbed rhetoric from their deeply homophobic society, and unfortunately this rhetoric continues.
Plus I just want to comment on this idea of acceptance and change in Derry Girls. Derry Girls is set in the time of great change in Northern Ireland, where people were sort of starting to accept that people are allowed to be British or Irish or both. But this process was messy and it wasn’t instantaneous. And the acceptance of the LGBTQ community in Northern Ireland was the exact same. It didn’t just happen overnight. It was a slow and messy process of change, of people re-evaluating their previous beliefs and being given the chance to grow as people and to learn how to accept others. That’s not to say people haven’t made mistakes in the past, because they have, but they’re willing to take the steps to change. I‘ve always thought the LGBTQ subplot of Derry Girls is sort of a parallel to the overall process of change in Northern Ireland in a political sense. And I think that flies over so many people’s heads because they don’t have that context of the political situation in N.I.
(And this theme of acceptance is seen again in the series finale of series 2 with James! ✨ Thematic consistency ✨ )
Because at the end of the day, Clare is accepted by the group. In fact, we see both the teenagers and the adults actively take steps to make her feel loved, welcome and accepted. My favourite moment will always be Granda Joe saying “you’re a very talented people” to Clare in the most earnest voice. Clare is still loved by her friends and although they don’t exactly know what they’re doing, they do try and show their support for her. They absolutely make mistakes, and they did hurt Clare, but they’re trying and I think that stands for a lot, especially at the time.
And I think all of what I discussed was absolutely necessary to Derry Girls. Derry Girls might be a somewhat rose tinted portrayal of Derry in the troubles, but it never tries to romanticise the situation that the teenagers were in (because no one should be romanticising the troubles). I think that this stance of portraying the harsh reality of homophobia in N.I is equally important to the narrative of Derry Girls. I see my own experiences in Clare, despite the fact it’s 30 years later, so if they didn’t at least attempt to show the homophobia in Ireland it would have felt disingenuous and too “perfect”. Again, I’m not saying that Michelle using the d slur was the right way to go about showing the “loud” homophobia of Northern Ireland. That’s not my decision to make. However, just because Derry Girls is making efforts to present Northern Ireland in a more digestible way to audiences (especially non northern Irish audiences) doesn’t mean they shouldn’t also acknowledge the reality of Northern Ireland at the time.
(This all kind of makes it sound like I want Clare to get hate crimed which I obviously do not want. I think the way that Derry Girls showed the issues in Northern Ireland were perfect and very much necessary, minus the use of the d-slur specifically which wasn’t necessary to the plot.)
Anyway thank you so much for the ask anon! This was much more rambly than my usual posts but I just really have a lot of opinions on Derry girls because it does mean a lot to me and it often does hit close to home.

Good to have you back~ how about a lil scenario about mc who is very excited to bring back their first familiar to Asra...who has to tell them that the little lizard is in fact a baby dragon that will groß bigger than the shop lol. hope you're doing well~
Oh geez, imagine that dragon with its head through the roof :’D Thanks for requesting!!
≿————-————-❈————-————-≾
“Asra!” you called out excitedly, storming through the door to the shop.
White fluff immediately emerged from behind the counter, together with Faust’s elongated neck, while she cocked her head to the side. A surprised expression laid over Asra’s face as he stood up, seemingly having sorted the display just seconds ago but now giving all his attention to you.
At the sight of you, he started to grin, always happy to see you, and he leaned over the glass counter to see what you were holding. “I finally found it!” you announced, grinning from ear to ear, making him raise a brow. “What did you find?” he asked, eyes falling to your close hands.
“My familiar!”
With a grand gesture, you took the lidding hand off the other, stretching it into his direction, the small creature in your palm stretching out proudly, just having waited for his grand reveal. “Oh, that’s-!” Asra began, watching the small lizard show himself off in your hands, breaking out some miniature spikes from his back too.
“Isn’t he cute?” you asked, still excited, bringing your finger down over it’s small head to pet the scales. “I met him outside in the fields, and we bonded immediately! You’re the first one I wanted to show him to!”
“That’s great, [Name]! It’s just…” Asra’s hesitation made you finally look up at him, meeting uncertainty in his eyes as he scratched his cheek. It puzzled you to see the Asra being so hesitant about needing to tell you something, rising some anxiety in your gut. What if he said you couldn’t keep your familiar? What if there was some sort of ritual to go through to really find out if you two were meant for each other, even though you felt the connection already.
“You do know this little guy isn’t a lizard, right?”
His question threw you off, so you brought your hand closer to your face, looking directly into the emerald green eyes of your new companion. He gave you a confused look, facing you head-on without any doubt in his mind. As if he expected, you knew that he wasn’t a lizard, but everything, from the four legs to the tail and reptilian head, reminded you of one. “He’s… not?” you asked, confused while the lizard laid his head to the side with just as much confusion.
Even though you were questioning the kind of familiar you had there, you were relieved to find that you still felt the strong sort of bond with him that you felt on the first meeting. You were ready to face any kind of surprise, knowing that you two were destined for each other, nonetheless, even if your curiosity grew.
“No, I am pretty sure he’s a-”
“Dragon!” Faust called out, wiggling excitedly from side to side. “Yeah,” Asra confirmed, giving Faust’s belly a tender scratch. “And a real one for once,” he chuckled, nodding at Faust.
“Oh,” was all you could say in the light of the new insight, eyes jumping from Asra back to the tiny creature in your palm. “But he’s so tiny…”
“He’ll probably grow bigger over time. Maybe next year he can already sit over both your shoulders. And the year after, you might be able to ride him. I don’t exactly know in which spurts dragons grow, but I am sure your aunt had a book about mythical creatures around here somewhere.”
Standing up straight, Asra walked over to one of the shelves in the backroom, searching for mentioned book while you leaned down on the counter, feeling a little awkward now. You had hoped together with your familiar, Faust, and the fire salamander, you’d have a real cute family of reptiles with you, but hearing that your sweet little lizard would turn into a huge fire-breathing dragon sounded a little scary.
However, your worries were cut short as you felt the scales nudge your cheek tenderly, washing away all that gave you a headache. Your new friend was right, just because he’d grow big made him no less your partner in crime for the future. If anything, you felt a bubbling excitement in your stomach, knowing that you’d have a big, sturdy dragon at your side for the rest of your life.
“You’re right,” you snickered, petting him some more. “Let’s find out a thing or two about you!”
Moving after Asra, you put your familiar on your shoulder, slipping in between shelf and the magician and making him laugh about how adorably focused you were on finding the book now. You wanted to learn all you can and more about this new and essential part of your life, and it motivated Asra, too, always striving to be of assistance to you and now his new friend.

I've seem Sessr*ners on Reddit using the argument to 'justify' child grooming (yes, that's what you've just read) by saying it's 'historical accurate' and are using the fact that this trope (a young girl falls in love with a older man, grows up and marries the guy) is common in japanese culture (for example, Genji Monogatari). They always criticize us antis by saying that we only look through modern eyes and that in the 1500s that type of marriage was 'normal'. What's your opinion about this?
So, this argument is interesting in that it's actually a couple of different ones kind of... smashed together. I'm going to pull them apart and address them separately in order to get at every corner of this.
First, there's no thematic or literary resemblance between The Tale of Genji and Inuyasha, let alone specifically the relationship between Sesshoumaru and Rin. Genji's romantic exploits are numerous, and end mostly in tragedy, including the one between him and Murasaki, which is the one people seem to like to cherry pick out of novel as an example. Murasaki is only a fixation for Genji because she resembles his step-mother Fujitsubo (who also happens to be her aunt), with whom he has been in an elicit secret affair for years by that point. Genji kidnaps Murasaki when he is denied access to her, brings her up to be Fujitsubo's double in behavior as well as appearance, and denies her wish to become a nun because her entire reason for existing to him is to be his second Fujitsubo. Claiming that this at all resembles Sesshoumaru saving and protecting a little orphan girl who isn't supposed be a look-alike of a secret lover of his and isn't being educated to be like said nonexistent secret lover is quite the stretch to me. One might even dare to suggest that anyone making this claim didn't read the novel and shouldn't speak on it like they know what they're talking about.
Second, on the matter of the prevalence of these types of relationships back in the day, it depended upon the status and station of bride and groom in society. I feel like people forget that marrying for "love" is actually a rather NEW phenomenon, and this is really why the OTHER relationships shouldn't be ignored in the sticky web of sex Genji constructed for himself in the novel. [TRIGGER WARNING for r*pe and child marriage mention in the rest of this paragraph] Marriage is a complicated socio-economic phenomenon, which mostly exists as a way to make alliances, political statements, and monetary profit. Most often, a girl is (yes, it is still happening to this day, all over the world) married to a family friend, or an adjacent power, in order to secure or preserve prestige and prosperity. If the girl's family is especially on the poor side, they will literally sell her off. There are also some more distasteful scenarios of girls being married to their rapists to preserve face for the rest of the family. She has no say, in any instance; even if she may grow to appreciate her husband, they didn't get together because she had a cute crush on him. Again, to suggest that this resembles Sesshoumaru protecting a little ORPHAN girl's life, who would provide no prestige or further growth of influence on his power is a bit of a stretch to me.
Third, Rumiko Takahashi isn't an historical author like Murasaki Shikibu. She's a MODERN author with modern sensibilities, and uses the historical time period as a backdrop because it's a particularly mysterious era marked by chaos and a lack of meticulous records. It's a great setting for ghosts and monsters because there's so much that isn't known about it. And she doesn't seem particularly interested in historical accuracy as a matter of course - Inuyasha's fire-rat robe is in the style of a monk's, and Sango has and uses a sword, which was strictly a man's weapon at the time (a naginata would have been more appropriate for propriety at the time).
And I must point out that this is a series about youkai, which aren't accurate to REALITY, let alone history. I think an argument of adherence to "history" is immediately out the window when we're dealing with mythical creatures.
Not that I think historical fantasy as a genre is invalid. It rarely disappoints me as a reader. But historical record shouldn't be treated as supplementary reading material. A story is a self-contained world with all of the information you should need to know right there. Turning to history books and entirely different novels from the period, or any other outside sources to the actual story to justify an interpretation of that story is, for the final time, a bit of a stretch to me. It suggests there's no evidence for it in the text as it exists, so it requires stacks of OTHER work to prop it up.
It's just not very Occam's Razor of the folks on Reddit, in short.
#inuyasha#anti sessrin#rin (inuyasha)#sesshomaru#sesshoumaru#stop comparing tale of genji to inuyasha#it's not even sort of the same#and if you are going to compare the two#at least READ the novel first#the inuyasha fandom needs to start confirming sources#and stop just taking someone's word for it#seriously just check to see if something's true#it shouldn't be difficult

So i got another fic idea in my head The dates are very important. 1 (May 1998) Percy was a Ministry spy and he worked closely with Albus. He saved a lot of lives no matter their blood or if they were creatures. And at the battle of Hogwarts he saves Freds life but hes in crit condition George is a total ass (He's angry and takes it out on Percy) going off at him saying nasty things along the lines of that Percy isn't welcome at the Weasley home anymore.
2 When he tries to go to the House to talk to them he's not treated very well ("Dont wanna hear excuses Percy"). He just give up, packs his things in his flat, & the next morning he goes, gives his mission reports that date from the start of his Ministry career along with his resignation letter on Shacklebot's desk. Then he's off to America to start over he snuck into Freds hospital room & used Snapes healing charms as a way to 'set things right' before leaving.
3. Percy is now in New York, gets a job, and then spends the next 6 months working diligently and whatnot. Then he meets Audrey Smith, they end up going on a few dates and she introduces Percy to her local gym and they become gym buddies and soon start dating. (Aug 2000) After 2 years together (They're married) Percy and Audrey find out they're expecting. And then the twins are born on the 2nd of May 2001. Percy laughs a bit as Audrey pats him the shoulder and says "They sure chose the date"
4. Sep 11 2001) Audrey dies in the 9/11 attack (she was a muggle) & Percy is left a widow with 2 daughters to look after. (June 2002) He bumps into Oliver who's on a quidditch training exchange. They catch up. (Oliver doesn't bring up the fact that Percy's fam has been looking for him for years and that he's saved so many lives) As December rolls around Oliver spends it at Percy's, meeting the kids and hearing Percy tell him everything (His wife, his family and the war)
(I think this is part 5? Idk its 2am here) (Jan - May) They spend a lot of time together after Xmas and slowly Percy begins to heal a bit more after Audrey's death. Oliver ends up going back to the UK and Percy misses him. (July) Oliver comes back with news that he's transferred to an NY team "They might not be big on Quidditch here but they're extremely good, Perce" (Its not because Oliver has been inlove with Percy since Hogwarts. Neither is it because he loves Molly & Lucy to death either)
6 (Feb 2004) The UK Papers get a picture of Oliver, Percy the twins out and it BLOWS UP. Charlie (The only one who even heard Percy out back after the war ended, He knows the others did wrong by him) floos in and then warns Percy about everyone knowing he's here and that they're gonna be coming in 2 days. So He ends up having Charlie take the girls. He ends up meeting with his fam and it takes a long long time for them to heal and fix things.
7. His Fam only get to meet Molly and Lucy when they're 6. When they're 7 he and Oliver gets married. Idk why but i seem to only send you these fic ideas when im hella tired and at 2am. T_T Why am i like this? So Audrey named Molly and Perce named Lucy (After each others moms)
Honestly, What can I say at this point? You have the whole story thought out. Go for it and write it!
It’s not the kind of story I write, though. But since you dropped the materials here, I can share how I would assemble it.
I would avoid New York. Big cities have a character. They are characters and you have to treat them as such. In Life skills, London is a character, complex and big and hard and beautiful. In Secret language of plants, even though Draco and Harry end up in London, I had them stay in the house because London was too big of a character for that stage of the story.
So, no New York. If I had to use a well-known city I would go with Boston, I think. Otherwise, a small one with a nice name.
Audrey doesn’t die on 9/11. Well, she dies on that day, but not on the attack. It’s something as simple and dull as a traffic accident. Percy wasn’t with her, not that it would have mattered. Yes, wizards have potions to mend bones instantly and protective charms and spells to stop the momentum, but Audrey died instantly, and no one could have seen the car until it was on her.
The driver was an old man, fumbling with that new invention, a mobile phone, trying to call his daughter who worked in New York.
Magic Law on the States is a bit… over the place. It would be extremely simple to put a curse or a hex that man. If Percy was clever about it, it wouldn’t be too illegal. But he doesn’t. Percy realizes it wouldn’t make him feel better.
Percy doesn’t particularly like the States. The tea is terrible, the coffee is weak, the spelling is painful and people are entirely too talkative. But it’s sunnier than England and the orange juice is good, so he stays.
He goes to Romania every summer to visit Charlie. The girls love it there and it was always easy to talk to Charlie. Charlie who had such a promising career in Quidditch and rejected the fame and fortune for a thankless career working with dragons. Not even training dragons for bank security, which is a cool and profitable career, but fighting that very same use.
Charlie only goes back home for a week during Christmas, so he gets it. They don’t have to talk about it, never mention that weird state of loving your family and not wanting to be with them, to fight, to have to explain and justify your very existence and your life decisions.
He meets Oliver in Romania. Supposedly Oliver is there to see the sights and rest his left shoulder, that was injured at the end of the league. But he is not the first Quidditch player who has a crisis of faith and comes to Charlie with questions. So far, none of them had taken up dragon-protection, but one became a broomstick racer and another is the head coach of an Italian team.
Charlie only thinks about dragons. Oliver only thinks about Quidditch and is in the middle of an existential crisis. So it’s perfectible understandable that the topic of Percy, his war heroics and his semi mythical status is never brought up. To be fair, Charlie doesn’t know much about it because he doesn’t read English newspapers and his family never talks about Percy when he is around. Oliver just thinks that Percy is the first Competent Adult he has ever met and is much more interested about this Figuring Life Out than any hero status.
So it’s fair to say that the headlines come as a surprise.
Someone snapped a picture of Oliver and Percy sitting very close together in a park, with twin stupid loving smiles. It was all perfectly innocent. Molly was doing something cute out of frame and they never kept any physical distance between themselves, not even in Hogwarts. But it doesn’t matter. The picture is sold as proof of the mysterious war hero and the dashing sport star carrying a secret love affair. It’s a beautiful story, powerful. Percy is the tragic handsome hero and Oliver the right person to bring love back in his life after years nursing the wounds of war. Or perhaps Oliver is the sweet and honest good boy, the boyfriend every mother wants for her daughter, seduced by the man living a life of exotic and daring adventures.
Whatever it is, the world wants to believe in it. So much so that bloody Draco Malfoy pops up to warn them that there is a dozen of rabid, ruthless, paparazzies coming their way. He knows because Malfoy owns the most read magazine in England and has put a bounty on a photo of the two of them kissing.
Paparazzies don’t have a concept of trespassing, but breaking and entering into a dragon reserve has certain difficulties that can’t be bypassed with an alohomora and a lack of morals. Percy and Oliver spend the rest of the month in the reserve, not daring to go out. Twenty-two days in each other’s company, hiking in the mountains and playing with the girls. Molly and Lucy have decided that Oliver is similar to Charlie in all the right ways, so they like him.
On day nineteen, they kiss. Someone gets a picture of it, but, in his excitement, the photographer wanders into a nest of young dragon carps. He is recued three hours later sans pants or shoes. The photo of their first kiss is lost.
Oliver says he is almost done with his existential crisis but now Percy has one of his own.
You see, there is something Oliver hasn’t said. Something he didn’t mention at all. And Percy doesn’t know if Oliver just hasn’t noticed (it took him two years to realize all the Weasleys were siblings) or if he noticed but… doesn’t care?
There is more than one reason why only Charlie has met the girls.
Even now that Percy has received letters from every family member (including Freaking Aunt Muriel) and even a surprise visit from them (he has a life debt with Charlie for the heads-up) and they have begun the unpleasant work of fixing their relationship; even now, they haven’t met Molly and Lucy.
It’s because of the Weasley cousin they never talk about. The accountant.
Percy knows that it’s perfectly normal. Many wizarding children don’t exhibit any magic until they are at least seven. But he also knows that every single person in his family was levitating toys (Bill, Ron and Ginny) or stopping spilled milk in mid-air (him) or shooting sparks (Charlie and the twins) by the time they were three.
Molly and Lucy had done nothing magical so far. Nothing at all. And Percy knows, in his heart of hearts, that if anyone makes them feel inferior, if anyone dares to say anything against them, he will go the Dark Lord route and kill every single person prejudiced against squibs. He might kill every single wizard and witch and eradicate all magic, so his girls won’t feel inferior to anyone. He found in himself the strength to forgive the man than took Audrey’s life, but he won’t do the same for the person who speaks against his children. He can’t.
On Christmas Percy reluctantly agrees to go to England with the girls because Charlie promises he will be there too. It is not easy. It is, in fact, very, very difficult and tense. He is forever grateful at Lee Jordan, who is glued to Fred’s hip cracking jokes and defusing tension. Also, Angelina Johnson takes George and Ginny to the kitchen and informs them they are the biggest idiots she has ever had the misfortune of meeting and that helps to avoid anyone saying something unforgivable they will regret their whole life. On Christmas’ Eve Harry Potter takes everyone’s wands because he is Harry Potter “and I do what I want” which means no one hexes anyone and they can overindulge the punch.
Oh, why bother? The whole thing is terrible and awkward and it hurts. But it is a necessary painful step, either to fix things with time or to say that he tried, actually tried, and never look back at this moment with regret.
Also, he gets to meet with Oliver. It turns out that Oliver hadn’t noticed the girls’ lack of magic, but he also doesn’t care. Why would he care? Are you- are you supposed to care? Is this another thing Oliver missed because he only thinks about Quidditch? What’s wrong with not having magic in any case? Oliver’s mother is muggle and it is agreed that she is wonderful.
(Even Potter says so. Percy has no idea of when Harry Potter met Oliver’s mum, but he speaks of her in the highest terms).
You can read about what happened next on issues of 32, 33 & 34 of Alakazam as well as special issues 17, 21, 22 and 25. Draco Malfoy earns 1.5 million galleons with issue 33, setting a record for most successful print in wizarding history. Then he obliterates that record with a single stolen picture of Percy and Oliver’s wedding. He committed around a dozen crimes to get that picture, got drunk on champagne and victory and asked Harry Potter to marry him.
(He also donated all the money to a newly created society for the support and trade education of squibs, but only two people in the world know that).

My So Weird 2.1 Project
Here is my idea for a So Weird revival show. I tried my best to keep in the spirit of the original show while also making it’s own show that can stand on it’s own. I will say I am really bad supernatural elements so in some the episode summaries are pretty lacking, but in your mind just assume something weird/unexplainable in fact did happen.
I picked out the actors before writing this up and I’ll be honest some no longer “fit” how I imagine the characters to be for various reasons, still I shall include it. Finally I tried to think of original actors that might be willing to do it again, though who really knows LOL. Regardless it’s all a bit of fun!
With all that said I hope you guys like it.

Summary
Photographer Jack Phillips with his wife pop singer Annie Thelen live in Los Angeles California. The couple has a 13 year old son named Kevin and twins Kathleen and Kennedy aged 11. Because of the nature of both their jobs the couple has to travel fairly frequently. Jack tries to book photography assignments that align with Annie's various tours. When they can the children are brought along, in the instances in which it is not possible the children stay with his mother Molly Phillips, her boyfriend Carey Bell, and their 19 year old daughter Emily. Jack along with Annie often visit or are visited by his best friend Clu Bell, his wife Scarlet and their five children. Though with Clu and his family living in Australia where he runs a surfing company its difficult to find time for the visits. Annie is best friends with Isabella White who works as her personal assistant. Her husband Gregory is good friends with Jack as well. Gregory and Isabella have Jackson 14 and Olive who is 11. Its a hectic but fulfilling life.
Then everything turns on it's head when Jack receives a panicked phone call from his younger sister's,(Fiona) boyfriend James McDonald saying she is gone. Jack soon learns that Fiona, after investigating a so-called paranormal occurrence, has gone missing. James pleads with Jack to look for her, saying it is his destiny and fate to find her, protect her. Having washed his hands of her fantasies and almost her, with the exception of holidays Jack at first refuses.
Annie who herself for a few years in her teenage years had a passing interest in the paranormal herself tells Jack that they have to find Fiona. It'll be difficult road with many mysteries and things Jack has always been unwilling to see, but to save his sister it's time to open his eyes. Jack questions Annie how she knows this, but like many things she can't explain and to just trust her.
Though her management team at first is angry at the decision Annie tells them she is doing a small intimate tour across the United States and and will be traveling in a bus. They don't preplan the venues, only give a few days' warning and often playing in small, almost hole in the wall locations. The stops are decided by Annie's gut reactions and more often than not there are signs Fiona had just been there or has something connected to her.
Jack and Annie bring their three children along with them and hire Gregory to drive the tour bus. Isabella and the kids come as well. Its a crowded environment but somehow they make it work.
After a few weeks of not finding Fiona, Molly decides she too wants to be out there looking for her, having also lost her husband years ago to mysterious circumstances. Annie arranges for Molly to be the opening act on her tour, even though Molly at this point was pretty much retired. Carey and Emily come along as well, with him serving as lead guitarist to Molly as he did years ago.
Jack and Annie also ask for Ned Bell to come along and serve as a tutor for the children, wanting a hands on approach for their education and not strictly computer based. Ned, Molly, Carey, and Emily travel and stay on a second bus throughout the tour, that Ned drives. They told him they'd hire someone but he insisted and refused to take payment for it.
Fiona and James also have a 3 year old son named Phillip. James stays at home, along with Phillip, in case Fiona returns and does what he can from his end.
---- Character personality traits / notes
Jack: Serious. Stubborn. Willing to listen to others. Dedicated husband and father. Logical. Very similar to the Jack seen in the 1999-200 iteration but a bit more forthright on not believing the weird occurrences.
Annie: Hard working. Outgoing. Embraces the world around her. Finds beauty/joy in everything. Very attuned to things, often unexplained. Loving wife and mother.
Kevin: Hockey fan. Loves to pester the twins. Talented guitarist, interested in becoming a musician one day like his mom (and grandparents). Embraces the weird stuff but doesn't care to dive into the deeper meanings of why or how.
Kathleen: Enjoys photography like their dad. Excels in school and loves learning. Gets frustrated at others, especially their twin, when they discuss or point out weird occurrences. Has had a few strange things happen to them, but stubbornly ignores.
Kennedy: Very close to her aunt Fiona. Full blown believer in the weird. Has a dedicated social media accounts to share her beliefs and have others share theirs. Which includes a YouTube channel that does fairly well. Constantly worries the adults around her.
Gregory: Very outgoing. Loves to cook, especially bbq.
Isabella: A bit shy. Very dedicated to her job and client/best friend.
Jackson: Best friends with Kevin. Talented at sports. Bit of a jokester and likes to play pranks on people.
Olive: Wants to be a pop singer and idolizes Annie. Has a habit of stretching the truth. Gets along equally with both of the twins.
Carey: Very much go with the flow type. Played with a few bands after Molly stopped touring/performing but none of them ever had any mentionable success. Took up woodworking and diy projects.
Molly: Dedicated and protective towards her children, grandchildren, and boyfriend. Doesn't take crap from anyone especially when it comes to her relationship with Carey. She grew tired of being the well behaved don't make the record executives angry type of client and started following her heart. Now twenty years into the relationship hardly anyone cares anymore though. With the help of her daughters she slowly started opening up to perhaps there is something special about her and her connection to the unseen, much to Jack's frustration.
Emily: Loves things like tarot, zodiacs, psychic readings, and similar things. Very entuned to nature and animals, is a vegan. However doesn't believe in aliens or mythical supernatural creatures like bigfoot. Does freelance writing time to time. Is also a very talented painter.
Ned: Outgoing. A bit lonely after his divorce with Irene. He accepted and supported Carey's relationship with Molly, while she refused and it created a wedge between them. Works as a substitute teacher from time to time. Bought a boat and can be found out on the water nearly every weekend.

EP7: 2:39 AM Phillip is located in a park at 2:39 am. When asked how he got there or for details he states he can't remember anything. Elsewhere at the same time Gregory is rushed to the ER with appendicitis. Leaving the group stuck in this small town for a while, Kennedy soon figures out its famous for UFO sightings and abductions. Emily decides to give a few psychic readings and do some memory regression sessions on a few of the local residents to figure out what's really happening. Almost all of them mention seeing a door with 239 marked on it. Molly and Jack return to the group. Molly mentions that she received the knock on the door informing her of Rick's death at 2:39.
EP10: Shadow Melodies Annie wakes up with a melody stuck in her head that almost becomes deafening and nothing she tries can get it out. Kathleen doesn't know what to do when the boys arrange a fishing trip while the girls all get together for an all day spa excursion. Clu video chats with the gang. They receive sad news when they learn Molly’s father Collin has died.
EP11: One Moment After At Collin's funeral Jack is nearly blinded with hatred towards his sister for not being present at such a crucial event. He announces after the service that he's done and he's flying back home. He lets the kids decide what they want to do. Kathleen is the only one who asks to come with him. Annie tries to get Jack to stay going back to her reasonings as to why it's his destiny to find Fiona. He refuses to listen and still boards the flight. During the flight there is severe turbulence and the plane loses power. When the power comes back Kathleen is missing.
EP12: Brave Ruler Friend Of Horses Kathleen finds themselves in the same white dream from a few months ago. They find both their grandfather's and great grandfather sitting at a table with an empty chair. Nervous Kathleen decides to take a seat with them. Grandfather Rick tells them their the one. Grandfather Kevin tells them not to be scared and they are never alone. While Collin tells them about not to hide from the truth the same way as he has when it came to what their family has been for generations. Still confused, Kathleen questions what exactly they mean and states perhaps all this is meant for Kennedy. The men tell them no. Rick gives one last piece of information 'to follow their heart on all things' and suddenly finds themselves back on the plane where Jack and the flight attendants are very confused but relived. Kathleen announces they are changing their name to Quinn. And tells their dad that once the plane lands they are going back.
Other notes and head canons. Jack and Fiona had a falling out because she got into the paranormal after promising to leave it alone. This time harder than ever. He felt she was obsessed, almost addicted to it. And watching her on this path became too much for him; so he started distancing himself from her.
Jack and Molly were distant for a while as well, him not being accepting of her relationship with Carey, it wasn’t until he became a father himself did he start to heal their relationship.
James is the same James from the original run of the show Tulpa/PK.
When it comes to the differences of Kennedy and Kathleen/Quinn; Kennedy thinks/wants to have the connection to the paranormal, even the scary elements while in reality nothing ever noteworthy happens to her. While Kathleen/Quinn doesn’t care, almost hates it but yet everything odd happens to them the paranormal is connected to them. As I told my husband … it’s like your parents being famous and talented oil painters and you desperately want to have the same talent so you study for years but are just ok; then your sibling has never expressed interest one day picks up a brush and is a prodigy at it.
Though in the episode summaries I don’t mention the White family a lot they are important to the show, much like how the Bells were important in the original So Weird.
As seen in the summary of episode 12 Annie’s father has passed away at the point and her and Jack do name their son after him.
--- I know it’s not the best and has a lot of holes, but I did try!
