Kiefer and I had really loose plans for how we would spend our time together in Europe. We knew that we wanted to flirt about and express our playful love everywhere, first in Madrid and then Barcelona before spending time in nature. Now, I travel quite well on the fly. Living in my "yes" means that I try not to stress over things unplanned because I'm open to that which arises through the following of my passions and desires. Last week, however, my mind was so frayed and fearful by the time he came. I had such little trust and very little bandwidth for planning and unexpected situations. I was way more angry than I expected. I was definitely depressed. So much went awry. From nearly sliding off an icy mountain to hangry breakdowns, this guy stuck through the ups and downs and saw beyond my rough translations and not-so-graceful moments. Pulling away anxiously from intimate encounters because my mind was filled with the assault had both of us reeling, but we talked about it and tried to understand the situation and each other. There was no way to really prepare for our individual and shared emotional experience, but we made it through to the end by being forthcoming and honest. I became more and more enamoured with his sweetness and strength-- a gentle, strong duality that held me in warmth even when I wanted to push out into the cold. In the many good moments, we played in the snow, sweat in a sauna, climbed a Pyrénées mountain, and practiced French and Spanish together. We cooked wonderful home meals and read. We enjoyed a Halloween sunset on top of a grassy crypt, listening to the howls and laughter of village children. We had a great time. Our last three nights were spent in a sleepy, French town with belled sheep and stout horses. It was incredibly lush, incredibly clear, and everything my soul requested. For the first time in about a week, I felt positive shimmers of peaceful lucidity.
