TIME MACHINE (TF2 fan animation)

Decided to post it right here like this since it's doing pretty well on YouTube. This is the very thing I made those Scout and Soldier designs for. And I spent a month working on this thing- that was initially supposed to be a rough animatic but turned out to be a full clean animation with lipsync and compositing ahah

Due South Ads/Promos - Compilation 1

This project was definitely a labor of love 😅 After finding a lot of dS ads buried in larger ad compilations, I decided to clip each of these ads and make a dS promos compilation

any videos I came across that were only/mostly dS ads I added to a YT playlist here (playlist tumblr post here)

Final count for this vid is 65 ads/promos! Captions are available!

Where applicable/available, I also clipped the ad end card (with the show title/day/time/channel info), but cut out any of the in-between ads (mostly Diagnosis Murder promos). I also adjusted the audio levels to try and make everything as level as possible, and fixed a couple of clips that had de-synced audio

Duplicates are grouped into chapters, timestamps (and links to the source videos) can be found in the video description

The clips are only briefly described in the video description bc I ran out of characters (did you know there's a 5000 character limit to youtube descriptions?) so additional details are available below...

He also included BK’s label since they refused to promote their songs together. No word yet on the amount Dizzy is asking for. Must be big since everyone in The Blueprint section of the Entertainment Honors Afterparty looked over it! Dizzy was not in the building (yet again) but still managed to ruin the night. Ateez's Full Storyline Explained - Part 25

Masterlist

Not Okay (The Lost World)

We're still with Halazia Ateez, though this time we're learning their backstory, specifically the trauma they've experienced at the hands of their own central government before they were forced to escape.

This theme is already made clear from the get go by the opening screen which tells us the dictionary definition of the word "Trauma" before it flashes to a distorted shot of Ateez

We cut to San running down a hallway, chased by masked people (which is cinematically reminiscent of San running from the guards in Guerrilla) but time doesn't seem to be working the way it should (we'll come back to that later).

We cut to Hongjoong who's in the process of being brainwashed (a method the Z-World central government has also used) with a phone that has been mechanically attached to his hand.

On it, we can see, in order, the words: ALONE, MOTHER, LONELINESS, BEHIND (green to white), MISSING, ALONE (green), FAMILY, ALONE (green to white), BEHIND, FAMILY, ALONE, MISSING (white to green), ALONE, AFRAID, MISSING, BEHIND (white to green), MISSING (white to green), ALONE

Much like with the Jongho basketball situation we saw in Everything, it seems like A-World's Hongjoong and this Hongjoong share the same source of trauma: being alone without a family.

We next join Yeosang and Seonghwa who are being used to test each other's strategic abilities (which is reminiscent of how students are being treated in Z-World).

We see both of them seated at opposite sides of a baduk board in a museum-esque building's foyer while they're being filmed by two production cameras that look like the Canon HD Digi Super 25 xs (does this matter? no. but i looked it up for no reason so now you have to know).

Seonghwa is playing as the black stones and Yeosang as white (as stated by Seonghwa and San in the MV Reaction video) which reflects in their wardrobe.

The lyrics make it clear they're being forced to play against each other over and over again.

We switch to Yunho who's standing at the top of the stairs in a darkened auditorium. A brief flash of light reveals a figure standing at the bottom of the stairs behind him (we'll get to see who it is shortly).

Wooyoung and Mingi are standing on a small platform surrounded by masked people while the screen behind them shows an audio visualizer, I assume they’re forcing them to record propaganda songs or something, given how we later see them have access to microphones.

Shortly after, we get a hint of how traumatized San already is when he's alone in the hallway from earlier and already getting flashbacks of being chased by the masked people, trapped in the time loop.

The lyrics here state "Fleeting days feel like a mirror image / Are you gonna let it repeat again?", signifying how they're beginning to break free of the victim mindset, ready to take control of their lives and break the cycle.

We now return to Yunho in the auditorium where we get some quick shots of multiple versions of him existing within the space while a mysterious hooded person, who we can strongly assume to be his dead brother, is always moving around as well but always just out of Yunho's reach.

We then get this quick shot of an oncoming car as we transition from Yunho to San which reinforces the parallel to A-World's Yunho whose brother was killed in a car accident (as you may remember).

We also get the caged bird metaphor again for Yeosang which we saw with A-World's Yeosang and which is once again picked up in IT's You.

We then get a very clear visual of what they're doing to Jongho - he's on a bed, surrounded by screens where they're actively re-traumatizing and triggering him much like they're doing with Hongjoong.

They're showing him video clips of runners, both human and animal, and cars travelling at high speeds which serves as a harsh reminder of his leg injury.

As the screens comes closer to his face, the images begin to flash faster until we get to see his eyes which eventually reflect the words "WAKE UP".

And here is where we learn this world's Ateez weren't the instigators of the rebellion in their world. Instead, they were awakened by someone else, someone who instigated the rebellion but likely died as the rebellion failed since we never saw hints of them in any other MV, which must have served as just another source of trauma.

From here, we'll slowly get to see all of Ateez wake up which is also the point where the meaning behind the song's chorus really hits home because this is the first time they're experiencing emotion in at least quite some time and they're confused about their whereabouts, traumatized after all that abuse, and fucking PISSED at the people responsible for all that misery:

This placе, where right and left arе unclear (Make some noise) Feels like a maze (Make some noise) Try again no matter how many times (Make some noise) Nobody can stop us (Make some noise) Raise your voice louder, scream louder Don't be scared and let go, I'm not okay now Roar louder, raise your both your hands and shout You know that I'm not okay

We've now reached the point in the MV where Ateez are beginning to rebel, starting with Jongho screaming, San allowing himself to be captured, and Hongjoong trying to break free of the screen attached to his hand.

Here, we also get to see the exact moment Hongjoong was awakened: the word "LOVE" gets reflected off his eye right before we cut to Mingi.

Their rap verse makes it very clear they're sick and tired of being pushed around and told what to do:

Move away, move away, I'm at my limit I can't stand being at someone else's beck and call

We now move on to the less clear-cut part of the MV: the anomalies.

First, we get the giant clock hands on the ceiling in the room Seonghwa and Yeosang were playing baduk in - this references, on one hand, the time loop/cycle they're all trapped in, but on the other hand, could also imply time-travel in the way we've seen before in Ateez lore as the hands are moving much faster than normal - a parallel to the sand flowing upwards in the hourglass when A-World's Ateez first received the Cromer in the Diary Film.

We then get the floating smartphones surrounding Hongjoong which are a parallel to the objects floating around Hongjoong in the Diary Film.

There's a shot of Jongho who's reaching for a mirror version of himself which looks a bit Inception-esque (the movie) after which we get a close up of his face which cracks like glass, implying he fully broke free from the brainwashing and he's justifiably angry.

Given all the parallels with Inception and Diary Film, this leads me to assume that, in this world, it's Jongho who received the Cromer in a dream from his alternate self of yet another dimension.

This could mean that the Black Pirates in Halazia were originally led by Ateez from yet another dimension but I'm not gonna speculate on that any further until something else hints at it.

We get shots of San fighting the masked people in the hallway, Wooyoung performing on the stage surrounded by the black-clad people in masks who were already there when he was still with Mingi, and a shot of Yeosang crying.

We then get San crawling along the deserted hallway, followed by a shot of an arm wearing a wristband with a small screen that flashes between the words "OBEY, MONEY, DO WORK" before a hand comes in to cover it.

These are presumably Yeosang (wearing the band) and Seonghwa (the hand wearing the rings) as they're the ones we see a close up of right after.

We next get to see Mingi putting in his earbuds which is, once again, a parallel to Diary Film wherein A-World's Mingi would always put them in to listen to music when he needed to distance himself from reality.

And we then close on Yunho who's on the stage in the auditorium when he finds the discarded clothes of his older brother. When he lifts them off the ground, bugs come scattering out, making it clear his brother has been long dead and become food for the bugs. Quite macabre.

From here, we switch to black and white as this world's Ateez are uniting against the people who've been torturing them which could mean they had to physically fight their way out of the brainwashing facility.

Finally, we end on a shot of them together as a united front while the masked people are surrounding them, closing in.

meta take: I sort of wish we could have a genuine conversation about the blurry line between wishful thinking/headcanon and more objective (or, aspiring to be objective) historical analysis – I get the headcanons, I really do! but just in the past year, there's been several instances of people in good faith asking about sources or questioning "fan favourite" anecdotes and being shouted down for "ruining people's fun". If you want to engage with this stuff in a more lighthearted way, that's fine! but accept that that's what you're doing. Being rude to people trying to get to the truth is not a good look. Your imagination can withstand it, I promise.

the more I listen to Double Fantasy the more I'm offended that a certain brand of John fan basically only names songs from 1970/71 as his best. ditto with Walls and Bridges…

Again And Again And Again: best Denny solo-written Wings song ( it's hard to gauge how much is him and how much is Paul for their collabs. Anyways, No Words my beloved)

Sexy Sadie is kind of perfect… The lyrics, the chords, the distorted doo-wop it all embodies that DISAPPOINTMENT so well. The guitar solo is great, the high-pitched oooooooooohs. No notes, underrated song for sure.

the Mind Games album cover is soooooo deranged but so fucking good. That and Ram might be the best post-Beatles album covers.

this isn't exactly a take but the SADDEST part of Hey Jude is when John harmonizes with Paul. I can't not hear all the unspoken pain.

I kind of hope we get versions of Free As A Bird and Real Love with cleaned up John vocals like Now And Then. I don't want to erase those originals because the audio quality tells a story of its own, but Real Love especially suffers so much from it. I listened to it earlier today and nearly got teary. "No need to be alone" kind of gives me goosebumps. There's something so raw and emotional about all three of these songs…

This is almost the opposite of a hottake, but it kind of Doesn't Matter To Me who Now And Then is about. It could be about Paul, it could pretty easily be about Yoko too, and a few people I've seen say they think it's about May, which could be too! It perhaps not being directed at Paul doesn't take away from the song for me, because the song feels bigger than just its direct inspiration.

On that note, I sort of think that sometimes people could stand to.... Die on fewer hills? Like, the notion that Now And Then could be about Yoko doesn't negate John and Paul's relationship or most things people theorize they may have gotten up to. Now And Then Release Week bonus round, cause it's been long enough to talk about it a bit:

Paul (and Ringo and George! they also have a writing credit, guys!) making editorial choices about John's unfinished song with the blessing of his widow is literally fine. "But John might not have approved–" yes, this is how death works. John also might have found the song embarrassing and not wanted it released at all. It wasn't on Double Fantasy after all! Or maybe he would have specifically wanted to remove the same bit! (which I maintain is musically strange and unfitting at worst and at best a still really rough idea that would probably require a lot of work in of itself – echoing the chord progression in the instrumental bit is the best compromise I could imagine)

I actually really get the George girls who were a bit bummed out by the rollout of the song. He DID get the short end in this situation! but… what would have been better? I saw some people say Paul isn't nearly as good a slide guitarist at George. Okay well then… So Paul should've hired a session musician? How does that makes sense? Paul should've asked Dhani to find some random guitar bit George recorded 25 years ago and frankensteined it onto this song? I'm asking this honestly: what should have been done instead? Because… I sort of got the feeling from some of the criticism that the only acceptable solution was to not release this song at all. And TBH I don't think George "getting the short end" is worse than not allowing Paul and Ringo the closure of completing this song. This wasn't perfect but again: yes, this is how death works.

Technical making of details and source credits under the cut, or, "making a FMV in Linux with some custom audio generation" (i.e. beyond what I did for MFS EoE, which only needed my usual editing in Audacity)

Obviously, first I had to check if there was an oboe rendition already that I could plop onto the video. I found clarinet and flute versions, and even considered for a hot second using the bagpipes version. I also found a wind quintet + piano arrangement, but it didn't get across the joke I was going for. So, it was going to have to be generating the oboe solo via synth.

Next, being on a linux desktop, I did the bare minimum to generate the oboe solo via Rosegarden. I first followed this page and set up the TimGM6mb soundfont:

Still no luck with sound. However, as I started working through the third answer on the page, I had sound simply after entering the two following commands:

After that, I set the guitar solo track to oboe synth, tweaked the tempo, and recorded it into Audacity. In the Audacity recording area, for the dropdown to the left of the microphone symbol, select "Jack Audio Connection Kit." For the dropdown to the right, select "rosegarden."

Now I just need a backing track. At first, I was going to go with the original song's arrangement (someone has made a version stripping out the solo, exactly for the purpose of making cover videos), but then I found Roger Holmes' jazz ensemble arrangement. What made it extra useful compared to e.g. the Clifton Taylor or Tim Waters arrangements was that it had a significant number of measures at fast tempo that did NOT have the solo part being played, by guitar or otherwise. So, I edited that in Audacity to be the backing track you hear above.

These words' similarity to the familiar Latin audio, which ultimately stems from the Proto-Indo-European root "au-", to perceive, appears to be accidental.

Our verb αδω (ado) evidently emphasizes the human voice, and thus the text-part of a song. This in contrast to the noun ψαλλω (psallo), which rather emphasizes the string-strumming side of it. Closer akin αδω (ado) than ψαλλω (psallo), noun υμνος (humos) describes a song with a specific ceremonial function, particularly one to do with binding parties together. The Hebrew equivalent of our verb plus noun is שיר (shir), meaning both song and to sing.

The verb אדן ('dn) means to provide support for a piece of superstructure: to be a base for something big to stand or rotate upon. The noun אדן ('eden) refers to the foundation, base or pedestal of pillars or panels and such, and this word features lavishly in the description of the tabernacle.

The tabernacle, of course, was a prototype of the temple, which in turn became embodied by God's living human congregation, and the bases and foundations of that living temple became personified by the human foundation known as אדון ('adon) or אדן ('adon), roughly translatable with lord, sir or mister."

So we use the net to capture the Spirit which means the Uholy Ghost, the spirit of impurity has to depart. What is pure and impure is a lengthy discussion within the Torah.

Obviously people are being too religious without the dividend of also being too happy. They are allowing their lives to drain away. This is why too much religion without Shabbos called an impure practice and why one day a week is reserved for freedom from religion of any kind.

Jesus identifies the evil spirit, and it identifies Him as Jesus of Nazareth, "The seed of grace within the hen."

Jesus Drives Out an Impure Spirit

21 They went to Capernaum, and when the Sabbath came, Jesus went into the synagogue and began to teach. 22 The people were amazed at his teaching, because he taught them as one who had authority, not as the teachers of the law. 

23 Just then a man in their synagogue who was possessed by an impure spirit cried out, 24 “What do you want with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are—the Holy One of God!”

25 “Be quiet!” said Jesus sternly. “Come out of him!” 26 The impure spirit shook the man violently and came out of him with a shriek.

27 The people were all so amazed that they asked each other, “What is this? A new teaching—and with authority! He even gives orders to impure spirits and they obey him.” 28 News about him spread quickly over the whole region of Galilee.

The question of authority vs. law enforcement came up around Jesus quite a lot. The difference is one comes from hierarchy, the other is flat. The man at the top of the hierarchy has authority over those below him, even the law itself. Everyone wanted to know who Jesus was and whether or not He should follow the law or interpret it. We know the answer already.

Anyone who uses the law from the top down to free others from suffering is at the top, He is the Anointed One, He is the King. This disposition at the height of the order is a sign a person is not corrupt or ambitious and can be trusted with the lives of the rest.

Jesus then uses His authority to tell people to stop being religious and live their lives. Spend time outside the funeral parlor He said.

The Values in Gematria are:

v. 21-22: The people were amazed. Because they did not know what they were doing. The Number is 12480, יבדח אֶפֶס‎‎, "when you stop whining I will laugh."

Whining and complaining are forbidden by the Torah. God told Moses to kill the whiners, to get them to shutup and do their work. Then He told them to rest, to have fun. Work and play are required by the Torah. One cannot have fun if one is worried about the consequences of their actions. This simple cause and positive effect relationship is why the Torah was created.

The noun αφθαρσια (aphtharsia), which describes the sustained quality of indestructibility. This noun is used 8 times; see full concordance.

The noun φθορα (phthora), meaning a destruction, deconstruction, disintegration or decay: a falling apart or taking apart of unstable structures and their reduction to their stable constituents. This noun is used 9 times; see full concordance."

The Number is 18289, יחב‎ט, "will hit." = Snap out of it!

v. 25-26: Be quiet! Jesus said. Quiet is the essence of the Shule: "to find out who you are and who you belong to." The Number is 7094, ע‎צד‎, asida, "understanding of asa."

The unused verb אסה ('asa) correlates to a cognate verb meaning to heal. But an identical root correlates to a cognate verb that means to suffer harm or mischief. A noun that does occur in the Bible is אסון ('ason), mischief or harm. Perhaps they meet in the obvious fact that a doctor is a "man of sorrows."

Chicken Whisperers: Humans Crack the Clucking Code - Technology Org

A University of Queensland-led study has found humans can tell if chickens are excited or displeased, just by the sound of their clucks.

Professor Joerg Henning from UQ’s School of Veterinary Science said researchers investigated whether humans could correctly identify the context of calls or clucking sounds made by domestic chickens, the most commonly farmed species in the world.

“In this study, we used recordings of chickens vocalising in all different scenarios from a previous experiment,” Professor Henning said.

“Two calls were produced in anticipation of a reward, which we called the ‘food’ call and the ‘fast cluck’.

“Two other call types were produced in non-reward contexts, such as food being withheld, which we called the ‘whine’ and ‘gakel’ calls.”

The researchers played the audio files back to test whether humans could tell in which context the chicken sounds were made, and whether various demographics and levels of experience with chickens affected their correct identification.

“We found 69 per cent of all participants could correctly tell if a chicken sounded excited or displeased,” Professor Henning said.

“This is a remarkable result and further strengthens evidence that humans have the ability to perceive the emotional context of vocalisations made by different species.”

Professor Henning said the ability to detect emotional information from vocalisation could improve the welfare of farmed chickens.

“A substantial proportion of participants being able to successfully recognise calls produced in reward-related contexts is significant,” he said.

“It provides confidence that people involved in chicken husbandry can identify the emotional state of the birds they look after, even if they don’t have prior experience.

“Our hope is that in future research, specific acoustic cues that predict how humans rate arousal in chicken calls could be identified, and these results could potentially be used in artificially intelligent based detection systems to monitor vocalisations in chickens.

“This would allow for the development of automated assessments of compromised or good welfare states within poultry management systems.

“Ultimately this could enhance the management of farmed chickens to improve their welfare, while helping conscientious consumers to make more informed purchasing decisions.”
