Seems like IkeRev makes a LOT less money than all other titles. Why do you think they keep updating it anyway? We are at the 5 year anniversary and new routes keep coming, clearly Cybrid wants to keep it going. I am somebody who spends the same on all the ikemen games, and did not realize the big difference in revenue the games have.
Even if IkeRev makes less than the other "currently popular titles", they still makes A Lot More than older titles such as MidCin, DTL, IkeCeleb, ShinOoku, etc. and considering how Cybird still actively handle those titles with MidCin still getting sequels (just at a much slower pace), IkeRev do still have an active fanbase and do generate income for them.
What I do noticed happening recently though, is that Cybird seem to no longer know who their target audience for IkeRev are and is trying to figure that out. IkeRev at the moment is a major case of confused targeting.
But they are trying to fix that though and the attempt to figure out their current target audience can clearly be seen with the questions and choices for the answers to those questions that they included into IkeRev JP 5th anniversary survey.
Here are some of those questions / choices for the answers translated into English.
ーーーー

- 3k-5k jpy
- 1k-3k jpy
- less than 1k jpy
- i don't spend at all
what kind of scenario do you want to read most (choose one)
- romantic
- painful
- heart throbbing
- erotic
- exciting/suspense
- surprising/shocking
- other (please specify)
what kind of AU do you want to read most? (choose one)
- vampire / those sort of beings (werewolves / succubus / etc.) AU

- modern AU
- other (please specify)

- pov changing relay story
- story with no mc
what kind of illustration do you want for suitor cards
- refreshing
- seeing him having fun

- sexy
- other (please specify)
what kind of illustration do you want for card with suitor and mc
- romantic
- heart throbbing
- cute
- makes me feel healed
- erotic
- other (please specify)
ーーーー
Given how huge a contrast these choices are... I really hope the result of this survey would help them figure out who exactly are their current target audiences for IkeRev.
IkeRev used to start out cute and fluffy, but the newer event stories nowadays are more... IkeVamp vibes which is.... a completely different target audience there akdhaks.

He happens to love them back.
Find it on Ao3
[1] [2] [3] [4] [5] [6]
They are absolutely trashing Martin's bathroom, but he can't bring himself to mind. Not even if it costs him the security deposit on his ridiculous, tiny flat.
Gerry is sitting in the empty bathtub, stripped to his briefs, laughing so hard that tears roll down his checks, tracking black eyeliner with them, and Jon is sitting on the edge of the tub and trying to keep track of which pieces of hair have been dyed while Gerry refuses to keep his head still. Martin is sitting on the floor next to them and holding the bowls of varying shades of purple dye.
The dye itself is flying everywhere, between four hands attempting to apply it and Gerry's apparent inability to keep stationary and stop laughing for even one second.
"Gerry! Keep still," Jon yells in his best teacher voice. His imperious tone is demanding, but the grin on his face rather undercuts it.
"Can't," Gerry insists, pulling his head down (with dye covered hands) to press their lips together. The kiss is sweet, but Jon doesn't appreciate all the new places it covers him in hair dye.
"Gerry, it might all go more smoothly if you just let Jon and I do it for you." Martin advises him.
Gerry pouts, "Letting the men in my life just do things without my participation wouldn't be a very 'strong independent woman' move on my part."
"You're not a woman," Jon points out drolly, "Besides, what does that say about me, with the way you two are always arranging to pay for everything we do and everywhere we go?"
"It says you have two incredibly attractive men who like to do nice things for you." Martin tells him firmly, as he always does when the topic arises. They all hear Jon's eyes roll.
"Gerry," Martin starts in the voice he knows gets just the right response from him. "Stop being a brat and. Sit. Still."
Gerry sits still. Martin kisses him to inspire continued good behavior, and Gerry's teal eyes practically glow in a way that fills Martin with supreme satisfaction.
With their target stationary, Martin and Jon make quick work of Gerry's remaining hair.
He is ordered to stay put in the bathtub while it sits, and Martin starts cleaning up the bathroom. Jon heads into the shower to avoid being dyed in a plethora of bizarre places.
Martin goes to return the dye to Gerry's hair product box, and pauses with his hand in it.
Gerry, sensing Martin's distraction, jumps up to go over and stand behind him. Martin settles back into the warmth of his chest, and Gerry's arms snake around him.
"You would look very fetching in that colour," Gerry whispers enticingly in Martin's ear.
"You think?" Martin murmurs back, eyebrows rising in consideration.
"Yes," he replies, leaning forward to bite Martin's ear lightly. "Please."
"Whatever might you two be consorting about over there," Jon demands cheerily, emerging from the shower wrapped in his towel.
"Martin was just about to agree to become the next hair dying victim." Gerry informs him confidently, snaking an arm around Jon's shoulders and bringing him in close so he too can see the bottle sitting in Martin's hand.
"Oh." Jon says in a reverent sort of voice. "Yes, I think that's a very good idea indeed."
***
Martin sits still much better than Gerry did, and Gerry does his hair himself, Jon having already rid himself of persistent stains and wandered off to make something for lunch.
Gerry pushes Martin in front of a mirror (not Martin’s favourite pastime, but for Gerry, he suffers it) and they both look at him. Gerry grins. “It’ll look better in the end obviously, but what do you think, love?”
“I like it, actually.” Martin whispers, like a confession.
“Actually? I expect more self-confidence than that from my masterpieces, babe.” They laugh and sway together in front of the mirror.
“I love it, thank you.” Martin turns in Gerry’s arms and they kiss slowly and thoroughly.
Martin presses his hands along Gerry’s bare sides and up along his spine, where he knows a line of eyes is inked along each vertebrae.
Gerry keeps his hands on Martin’s chest, in an effort to keep their respective hair dye where it belongs, although his hands cling to Martin's shoulders and push and pull in response to their movements.
“Really you two? I leave you alone for 5 minutes and you’re both half naked and making out?” Jon interrupts them from the doorway, his words soft and appreciative.
“We could be even more naked, if you're interested in that?” Gerry offers, winking at him.
“Could we?” Martin asks, apparently just wondering out loud.
Gerry raises a suggestive eyebrow at him. “We definitely could be.” Gerry smirks, "You are familiar with how nudity works, yes?" He illustrates his point by pulling at the waistband of Martin's briefs and letting them snap back into his hip.
"Yes, I am familiar." Martin growls into his mouth, biting his lip for good measure. "Care to join, Jon?"
"Maybe when there's less hair dye on the table, so to speak. Ger, your timer went off, you'd better jump into the shower and wash off."
"Yes, sir." Gerry pecks Martin one last time, salutes Jon and strips off to hop into the shower.
Martin flushes at his casual nudity, and a heavy look passes between him and Jon.
Taken with Martin's pink laden head, Jon can't resist going over and pressing just one kiss to Martin's soft lips.
**
Later, when the bathroom is clean and everyone has washed, dry hair, they all pile around Martin's sitting room, a documentary playing softly in the background. Martin's new soft pink hair looks even better dry and Jon had whispered to Gerry conspiratorially that it reminded him of Martin's sweet early morning blush.
Martin is braiding Gerry's now wildly purple hair, and Gerry has convinced a reluctant Jon to let him paint his nails.
"We really shouldn't." Jon protests, even as Gerry paints on the base coat. His own nails are painted black, of course. His artist's eye appreciates Jon's neat, smooth nails, and he considers what kind of tiny designs he might be able to sneak onto them at some point.
"Why not? I used to paint your nails all the time when we were younger. That's where I got most of my early practice."
"I'm not a teenager anymore, Gerard. I have a professional job!" Jon complains, but Gerry knows these are only nerves, not lack of desire.
"Oooh, Gerard!" Martin coos, before tumbling into a laugh. "There's nothing in the dress code that says you can't have painted nails, Jon. And we all know you like having them done."
"That's meant for women, and you know it, Martin." Jon protests.
Gerry and Martin both stop their tasks abruptly to stare at him. "Jon, babe," Gerry can barely contain himself. "You are wearing a skirt. Martin has pink hair. I'm getting my absurdly long hair braided - into pigtails. I don't think any of us are exactly paragons of toxic masculine stereotypes."
"Besides," Martin adds, when he can speak calmly without tumbling into hysterical laughter, "there's no gender specific dress code at the library. All it says is 'If nails are painted, they must be neat and unchipped.'"
Jon looks askance at both of them, crossing his skirt clad legs primly.
"Come on," Gerry encourages gently, "It's just this one time. If you don't like it, we can take it off before you go to work on Monday morning. Or while you're at work on Monday. Or in an hour. Or anytime at all. It's just one small adventure."
"I know it's been a while, love." Martin pitches in, "But, don't worry, Gerry will be gentle."
Jon ends up with green nails, which he likes very much. Gerry is enamored with his braids, and begs Martin to teach him to do it himself. Martin is simply delighted to have a house full of laughter and colour for the first time in his life.

Gale’s Top Ten: Favorite ML Characters
Similar to my Least Favorite list, I am going STRICTLY by how I enjoy the person’s character in Canon only.  This is also my opinion, so Odds are you won't agree exactly with my list. and it does get a bit rambley
Let me know what your favorite characters are, I would love to hear about them.
_____________________________________________________________________
10. Juleka Couffaine:
Tumblr media
Interestingly While her Brother made the other list, Juleka is a character I find very interesting. She gets a lot of funny quips and comments which you wouldn't expect from the quiet girl. She is actually one of the class that I find has an interesting character, she wants to model, but is lacking in confidence and finds herself in situations where she is photographed badly. She has anxiety but she still tries to live her dreams. She is a supportive Girlfriend Friend to Rose, a trust worthy member of the Help Mari bag Adrien club, and also just adorable. I love seeing her on screen and her akuma, while interesting in design has quite an interesting performance that is always fun to enjoy. Heck, the producers of the show used her Akuma THREE TIMES in season 3. She is a rocker girl with a soft side, and she actually helps give Luka a good chunk of his personality (so there is so MAJOR points for that.
9. Alya Cesaire / Rena Rouge:
Tumblr media
Marinette’s blogger best friend and Fox Heroine of Paris. Alya has a lot of personality. Dedicated to finding the truth and being a good Wingwoman to Marinette. Alya does have a few faults, where she gets carried away in whatever catches her interest and sometime pushes Marinette in scenarios that can be considered Awkward, but she always has the best intentions and will fight for her friend. Now A LOT of people have recently become very bold with their feelings of negativity towards the girl, (salty fans) And I know an au or two have not been kind to her (one in particular that came out during Oblivio comes to mind). But I am not judging on Fandom criteria or salty au’s. I like Alya’s character and I can't wait to see more.
8. Lê Chiến Kim / King Monkey
Tumblr media
The energetic Athlete who may be a bit slow on the uptake, but always down for a dare. He is the embodiment of endearing and he always makes me laugh when on screen. I just love how much energy he has. He is a dork and he doesn't give a damn what you say. One of the few characters that got even better in season 3, I love this monkey boy and his wonderful antics. Nothing more to it except, only he would bring a swimsuit in a train.
7. Max Kante / Pegasus
Tumblr media
Our robot making class genius got a heck of an upgrade during season 3. His character shining like a diamond. He rocks his transformation, his relationship with his mom, best robo bud Markov, and his dynamic with the jock bro Kim are all wonderful. He gains mad respect for Marinette and I just love how he plays off of everyone. The boy is smart and has a way of getting a few good moments in pretty much any episode.
6. Alix Kubdel both Present and Future:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Whether she is a roller blading graffiti artist with some cute sarcasm or a time lord that is simply trying to correct history, Alix is a character I enjoy seeing on screen at any interval. I think if I HAD to pick, I lean towards present Alix, because I find her much funnier, plus her dynamic with EVERYONE is great, I was especially loving her bits with her bff Nathanael. but Bunnyx has me curious on a LOT of things regarding the future. Though her reveal did mean that adults got no time limit on powers seems like a cop out, but if the price is seeing Bunnyx then its Time well spent.
5. Kagami Tsurugi/ Ryuuko:
Tumblr media
Okay, I know there are a lot of people that are not a fan of Kagami. You are wrong, but that is your opinion. Kagami is easily one of the most interesting characters in Miraculous ladybug. She is a mirror (like her name implies) of both Adrien and Marinette. She reflects the feelings Adrien has, growing up with a controlling parent with hardly any free time that enjoys fencing and just wants to make friends. She reflects Marinette’s crush on Adrien, both seeing him as the sweet guy underneath and not for shallow reasons. Kagami’s confidence paralleling Marinette’s when she is driven. Kagami can also be hilariously awkward and really wants to make friends. Her time as Ryuuko is also a delight to see. Now I know some people are all complaining that her characterization is inconsistent, and honestly, I don't see it. Kagami has always been an intense person, when she wants something, she goes for it, even if she is unsure of how things will turn out (her feelings for Adrien) or how to go about it (Trying to make friends with Marinette) She is honest to the letter and I think that is something very admirable.
4. Nino Lahiffe / Carapace
Tumblr media
GIVE HIM MORE SCREEN TIME!
Nino is Adrien’s best bro. Nino goes out of his way to be supportive and caring for Adrien. The boy got akumatized because he was pissed at Adrien’s dad for NOT letting his son celebrate his birthday! Nino is so loyal, both as a bff or as a BF. He is a caring older brother and a cool superhero. The Dj/ Film director wannabe is a chill and fun dude that Totally deserves Wayzz (More then another turtle I know *Cough* Cough*)
I honestly can't find a single thing to dislike about Nino, he is just such a good dude. Sure he can be a bit of a foot in mouth guy, and can be a bit naive on somethings, but he is such a bro you can't help but love him.
3. Plagg
Tumblr media
It Physically hurts me that I can't put him higher on this list. The two in the main spot are just in Leagues of their own. Plagg is the most developed Character in the series and I will FIGHT ANYONE on that. Plagg starts out as selfish and only caring about cheese but becomes a friend and Confidant to Adrien. He cares about his blond son and wants to see that boy happy and safe. He does know the rules and if he knows Adrien is not doing the right thing (i.e. trying to be another hero when he is chat noir) he will call him out on it. But Plagg also encourages Adrien’s teen rebellion, such as when he was so proud of Adrien sneaking out to go to London with his class. Plagg is the perfect Kwami for Adrien and his jokes and Banter is the best part of the show’s comedy. I love this little entity of destruction and I want more of him.
2. Adrien Agreste / Chat noir
Tumblr media
Honestly Numbers one and two are interchangeable, but I think Adrien fits perfectly as the second spot on the list. I love how compassionate and caring he is. Adrien is an interesting character. In season 1 you would find that Adrien and Chat noir were pretty much opposites, Adrien was calm, obedient, composed, almost formal, while Chat noir was wild, flirty, impulsive, rebellious and a wisecracker. Both forms maintain his need to help others and his passionate love for his friends and his Lady.
Adrien/ Chat noir’s dynamic with Marinette/ Ladybug is always a delight to see, changing depending on which side is being seen. The flirty chat with Ladybug, the sweet love struck Adrien with Ladybug, The cocky yet caring Chat with Marinette, and the Sweet caring friend Adrien to Marinette. The love square allows for exploration of their character and I wish we could have seen it better utilized. Chat noir loves Ladybug, even if she doesn't love him the same way, he still fights by her side and will do anything for her. (a few minor bumps, but hey it happens, he is allowed a few hiccups)
As the series goes on, Adrien starts acting more rebellious, starts joking more, even a bit more flirty, he starts becoming more comfortable with himself and others, he even lets himself be selfish at times. He cares about others and he is afraid of being locked away alone. His fear of being alone has made him very naive and trusting of others, willing to overlook behavior to an extent, with the exception that it doesn't hurt anyone he cares about. (Lila being someone that has crossed this line, and seeing Adrien actually being intimidating for once.) Is he flawed? Yes. That what I love about him, he is portrayed at this perfect model, but that is more of a mask then Chat noir, and Adrien is slowly peeking out and I can't wait to see him shatter it completely.
1. Marinette Dupain Cheng /Ladybug
Tumblr media
What can I say about this lovable daughter of mine?
She is without a doubt one of the best teen hero main characters I have ever seen. (And I am taking Kim Possible Level, Danny Phantom level)
Marinette is creative, caring, compassionate, competent, clumsy, competitive, considerate, and a bunch more C words that mean good things. She is a top notch designer, guardian in training, and all she wants is to win over her crush, who she doesn't know is in love with her alter ego.
Marinette has a LOT going for her and I enjoy how she overreacts and I find myself relating to her in a lot of ways. Though she is worlds more competent then I will ever be, and she is 14.
Marinette also takes the weight of the world on her shoulders, always having to plan ahead, always having to be ready, and now she is the guardian.
I can talk on and on about how amazing she is and how interesting her flaws are, but I feel so many other people have talked about that to death. I will simply say that she is very likable.
She gets the audience to WANT her to succeed, she is so selfless that you feel for her everytime something doesn't go well for her. The season 3 finale felt Like LITTERAL Knives in my back seeing how much unnecessary pain she was in, all because of something that really wasn't her fault. (I am still salty about the finale) I really want her to be happy, and I hope she and Adrien do get together in season 4. Or I will be flying over to Paris and Punching EVERY PERSON writer at Zagtoon. INCLUDING a punch to Thomas so hard his non-existent grandkids will hear it.
Back on target.
Marinette is a delight and I am glad Miraculous ladybug exists because it introduced us to an amazing Heroine and Character.

The Witcher - Favorite reads masterpost
Tumblr media
Like much of Tumblr, I have recently fallen down the delicious rabbit hole of the saga of Henry Cavill’s abs in form-fitting leather, aka the tv adaptation of The Witcher. As always, that means semi-obsessive fic reading which in turn means recs! So, here’s a non-exhaustive, always evolving list of my favorite Witcher fic.
As of right now it’s...well, almost exclusively geraskier, because shipping is my primary reason for reading fics and also the Witcher (TV) tag is one of the most uniformly slashy ones I’ve ever seen, but there will be other kind of fics too. Hope you’ll enjoy :)
Tagging @nyliekeo because I’ve been saying I’d give you a rec list for a while and I’m finally (beginning to) deliver. Other stories will be added as I catch up with my reading and/or discover new ones.
Now with a Volume 2
Last updated Feb. 20th 2020.

He remembers Geralt telling him about not being able to sleep. Until then, he supposed, Witchers might not have needed it. Then again, until he met Geralt, he can’t say for certain that he knew exactly what a Witcher did and didn’t need. The thing is, he's been on the road with Geralt for the past month. He hasn't had any time to court a woman, much less have his heart broken by her. So who is this woman? The answer may shock you. // “There’s no lady,” Geralt says. Jaskier trails off. “Well, of course not,” he says instead. “I imagine a woman would take grave offense to the frequency with which we give our patronage to brothels, not to mention your unseemly habit of bathing in monster blood and other revolting gunk.” He wrinkles his nose. “Perhaps I should write an ode to your masterful powers of observation next.” “But you were talking about a woman tonight,” Geralt continues, ignoring Jaskier entirely.
there’s not a word yet for old friends who’ve just met - theredtailedhawkwithjewelsforeyes
Specs: 2 469 words - Teen & Up - Not really a character death Summary: “I wonder,” says Dandelion, lounging under a tree- his lute is in his lap. Geralt is cleaning his sword and stealing glances at him every few moments. “I wonder why it is some people feel so familiar. I could swear I’d never met you, Geralt, but you’re- maybe it’s just from those old songs.” He strums a chord, and when he starts on Toss a Coin Geralt grits out a “stop it” before he can even think.
Where the Field Meets the Forest - karcheri
Specs: 782 words - General Audiences - Flowers meanings Summary: Jaskier has been putting flowers into Geralt's hair. He catches on.
Speechless - Silverynight
Specs: 1 371 words - Teen & Up - Emotional repression Summary: The first time Jaskier wakes up next to Geralt he tells himself it’s an accident, even though he knows it doesn’t make any sense. Of course he’s attracted to his friend (the witcher would never admit they’re friends because he’s an idiot, but they are friends) he’s been attracted to men before, however… He’s never actually slept with one before, only women. Perhaps that’s the reason why he hasn’t said anything since he woke up. He’s still trying to think about what happened. Not that he didn’t enjoy it, quite the opposite in fact, it’s just… Jaskier thought he’d never sleep with a man.
a broken pot can still hold water - MarionetteFtHJM
Specs: 28 742 words - Explicit - Jaskier makes Geralt grovel a bit. Summary: Despite what his outward code of conduct would have you thinking, Jaskier knows when he is not wanted. He allows himself the exact amount of three days of wallowing in that small town before he packs his meager possessions and hits the road like nothing happened. In those three days he sings and dances for his food and drink, fucks the pretty barmaid and sleeps off the hangover before heading out in the morning of the fourth day. He travels alone for the first time in a while but it’s alright. Now, if only people would stop telling him that the Witcher asks about him - that'd be swell.
Surprise, Surprise - Laylabinx
Specs: 1 732 words - Mature - Graphic depiction of violence Summary: Even in the dim light, he can see that Jaskier is absolutely covered in blood. His clothes are splattered with it, his face is streaked, there’s even blood in his hair. His arms are slick and saturated up to the elbow and the sharp, polished blade Geralt had given him before he went into the cave is still gripped tightly in one fist like he can’t let it go. His knees are drawn up to his chest like he’s trying to make himself very small and aside from his quiet, hitched breathing he doesn’t move at all.Jaskier blinks at him and his expression crumples just slightly as he stifles back a sob. “I killed them.” (Or Jaskier is forced to kill in self-defense and does not handle it well. Geralt helps him pick up the pieces.)
Opulence - QueenForADay
Specs: 7 237 words - Explicit - Praise kink, some plot. Summary: In private, and sheltered from the wandering eyes of stablehands, Jaskier presses a light kiss to Geralt’s neck. “Please?” he mumbles against the skin, smirking as he trails his nose along a tendon there. “For me?” Geralt turns, catching Jaskier’s lips in a kiss that, if he wasn’t completely aware of how discreet they have to be, would become so much more. Jaskier still doesn’t move his hands though; one on the small of Geralt’s back, and the other holding on to a forearm. When he pulls away, Jaskier tries to follow, but a barked order from one of the grooms to a nearby stableboy makes him pull away. “Siren,” Geralt sighs. He would follow Jaskier anywhere. The bard knows that. He’s abused that fact. But the city they’re heading to has a reputation; draped in gold with springs of silver in the main square, it’s opulence at its finest. And Geralt is pretty sure that, although he’ll appreciate the comfy bed and the nice food, he’s going to fucking hate the rest of it.
Here’s a safe place (to lay your heart down) - Some_Dead_Guy
Specs: 1 439 words - Teen & Up - Hurt/Comfort Summary: “My mother used to do this for me, when I got headaches.” Jaskier murmurs, his voice quiet and soft, “I was a bit clumsy as a child, still am now I’m sure you’d say.” Jaskier chuckles and Geralt can feel the puff of his breath against his face, “I hit my head a lot, and this would make me feel better. Not sure how well it works on Witchers but–” “Works just fine.” Geralt mumbles, and his head splitting headache has dulled to a barely there throb under Jaskier’s fingers. Or, Geralt has a headache and his bard comes to the rescue.
I spoke your name (out loud to the room) - objectlesson
Specs: 1 151 words - Mature - Unrequited love Summary: You wish Jaskier would leave you the fuck alone, but he clings to you like ash after flames have laid waste to a village, like clotted crimson after you have killed something with your bare hands. However, you can scrub blood out from under your nails. Jaskier, so far, has proven to be far more indelible.
To Sleep Perchance To - Sospes
Specs: 16 955 - Mature - Graphic depiction of violence, torture, PTSD Summary: Jaskier gets kidnapped and tortured. Geralt comes to rescue him. Except it's not quite that simple.
Scales and Songs - TeenyTinyTony
Specs: 4 640 words - Teen & Up - Siren!Jaskier AU Summary: Geralt had known from the moment Jaskier introduced himself that the bard wasn't human, but he had seemed harmless enough and Geralt wasn't one to chase something that wasn't hurting anyone. It was easier not to mention it.
Starving on Scraps of Kindness - penguistifical
Specs: 4 388 words - Explicit - Orgasm delay/denial, not entirely human!Jaskier Summary: "It seems obvious in retrospect, but Geralt didn’t realize Jaskier’s true nature until the two of them encountered a succubus."
Benefits - ShastaFirecracker
Specs: 3 319 words - Explicit - Friends with benefits, coming untouched Summary: Whenever Jaskier's mouth isn't occupied, he talks. Low, easily, about anything. Sounds to soothe. And the thing is – unlike all the rest of the time, Jaskier is pretty sure that when he talks while he's chasing Geralt's pleasure, Geralt listens. It's a heady drug. And yes, Jaskier is becoming addicted.
Sleepsong - QueenForADay
Specs: 1 643 words - General audiences - Geralt wakes up from a nightmare, Jaskier helps. Summary: Some part of him wishes that people could see this – the man that they all fear so much, the Witcher, a hunter of the supernatural and evil, placated by his bard’s voice, melting into his arms. All he’s missing is hearing Geralt purr like a housecat. Every so often, Jaskier’s ears prick at the sound of a murmur of a hum leaving the other man, particularly when Jaskier presses a kiss to the crown of Geralt’s head, or runs his foot along the length of Geralt’s bared leg.
And at the same time, he would gladly pick up a sword and kill anyone who even thought of intruding on a moment like this.
When sorrow sang - Ailendolin
Specs: 11 184 words - Teen & Up audiences - Regret, pining Summary:  Alone, with only his trusted lute as companion, Jaskier sat in front of a pitiful fire, strumming his instrument with almost absentminded fingers. His hands were trembling, something Geralt had never seen them do before, and that was startling enough to make him pause at the edge of the clearing, just out of sight. “I’m weak, my love, and I am wanting,” Jaskier sang softly, and his voice broke with so much sorrow Geralt could feel it in his very bones. After their fight it doesn't take long for Geralt to stumble upon Jaskier again. There's only one way down the mountain, after all. What he didn't expect was to catch him in an unguarded moment - one that changes everything for both of them.
Neither one prepared - Sevent
Specs: 10 050 words - Mature - Idiots who don’t know they’re in love, semi-slow burn Summary: Between the Djinn and the Dragon Hunt, Geralt and Jaskier share many encounters on the road. A collection of coincidences, through Jaskier's eyes.
look what you made me do - cicak
Specs: 6 569 words - Explicit - Farce with porn Summary: “Like that dandy has ever bedded a woman,” the woman at the next table scoffed. “All those sexy songs of his are about that Witcher.”
The Love of a Bard - SpaceSexual
Specs: 2 103 words - Teen & Up audiences Summary: "The pen is mightier than the sword - and so it would seem, is the lute." Jaskier's a bard, a truly exceptional model of his vocation. He writes songs that bring crowds to their feet and thinks his time spent with the Witcher has let him learn a step or two of his own. However, some dances require one step forward, and a few very rapid, fear-filled, paces back.
Priorities - Penguistifical
Specs: 2 590 words - Teen & Up - Geralt cares and so does Jaskier Summary: Geralt’s getting used to a certain bard's company, but he can’t help but notice that Jaskier takes better care of his lute than of himself.
Curiosities - Luddleston
Specs: 3 109 words - Teen & Up audiences - Banter, witcher biology Summary:  "Geralt, let me ask you a question." "No." "Oh, come now. It's nothing ridiculous." Jaskier does his research, Geralt is tired of all the questions, and the questions get more and more personal along the way.
Woodash and iron and leather - LokelaniRose
Specs: 9 874 words - Explicit - Mutual admiration - Mutual pining Summary: Jaskier is the only person Geralt's ever been around who doesn't smell of fear. Russian Translation here Korean Translation here
lay (not) your heart against him - theredtailedhawkwithjewelsforeyes
Specs: 1 368 words - Teen & Up audiences - Geralt of Rivia is bad at communicating, scenting Summary: He’s a brave man but the core of it is that he trusts Geralt to save him before anything ever gets too close. It’s- Well. Geralt thinks the last time someone trusted him as far as they could throw him was when he was still a child. Before Kaer Morhen, before anything. His world is a cruel, cutthroat one. He doesn’t know what to do with this unceasing, unspoken dedication. So he doesn’t mention it. Probably Jaskier doesn’t even realize what he’s doing.
The Ballad of the Bard and the Moon - Ravenheart
Specs: 2 605 words - Mature - It’s all about the YEARNING Summary: If the moon allowed it, Jaskier would call himself a worshipper for as long as he lived. And that, he guessed, was the problem. Because the moon could keep you company, but it couldn't worship back. It might give you direction, and you might even be blessed with its protection, but it would go its own way, whether you followed or stayed behind. Stubbornly determined to walk the night at its own pace, painting its own path. (Alternatively: Jaskier spends over 2k trying to figure out that he's in love with Geralt, and then he does something about it)
in restless dreams i walked alone (the sound of silence) - august_embers
Specs: 16 136 words - Not rated - Mental health issues, suicidal thoughts (but no actual suicide attempt), Jaskier is not okay sometimes Summary: "Geralt is able to scent the guilt on a lying man from ten feet away, to catch sight of half a pawprint in the undergrowth in the dead of night, to know when to lean back before the coming blade can cut through his throat.  Much of it comes from his training at Kaer Morhen, where his instincts were honed and enhanced, but even more comes from his travels and experiences while walking the Path.  Geralt notices things, because not noticing means death. He does not notice the lack of singing." Something is very wrong with Jaskier.
front row praises - The_Watchers_Crown
Specs: 25 098 words - Explicit - Porn with feelings Summary: The girl rolls her eyes at him. “If you’re just going to stand here ogling the witcher, maybe go and do it out of the way.” “Ogling.” Jaskier scoffs. “Who’s ogling?” She looks unimpressed. “Have you told him you want him to fuck you?”
Inspiration - CobaltCephalopod
Specs: 1 131 words - General audiences - Magic, musical instruments Summary: Between all the half-hummed melodies and scratched out words to be had over the course of decades, Geralt knows how Jaskier’s songs work and how they are made. He’s the subject of them, more often than not, and he can’t count the number of hours spent falling asleep to Jaskier’s strumming while he huddles closer to the dying fire to read what he’d scribbled so far. Or: I figured Filavandrel's lute probably has some kind of magic in it.
a fool by profession - besselfcn
Specs: 967 words - General audiences - Jaskier tells his problems to a horse Summary: “Make sure my horse gets a bath,” Jaskier mumbles, in a poor imitation of Geralt’s distressingly low register. “Who does he think he is, honestly? Man has one bloody popular song written after him and he thinks I’ll attend to his beck and call, is that it?” He gives pause for Roach to weigh in, if she’s inclined. She snorts.
i’ve never been there bu i know the way - theredtailedhawkwithjewelsforeyes
Specs: 2 525 words - Mature - Basically jaskier starts being competent and Geralt is like. huh. Huh. Summary: On the left hand of the noble, however, is Jaskier. His charm is turned up to eleven, and Geralt could swear he’s batting his eyelashes, and his voice is all syrupy-sweet. He squints at his bard to no avail- Jaskier is very determinedly seducing this damn noble. And what’s worse is that it’s working. Somehow, improbably, Jaskier is charming him through shockingly well delivered compliments and subtle little flattering remarks. It’s such a far cry from the stuttering, irritating bard Geralt knows that he feels almost offended, like this has been purposefully hidden from him just to pull out at the most fucking inopportune time he could possibly find.
Tinseltown - LaurytheLatrador
Specs: 16 545 words - Mature - Alternate Universe - Hollywood Summary: Back when Jaskier was a small town busker he hooked up with Geralt, an MMA fighter gaining renown. Now Jaskier's a musician struggling to keep his head above water in Los Angeles, while his ex is one of the most famous actors in the world. He never expected their paths to cross again, but there wouldn't be any stories if life went the way we expect.
Where there’s a Witcher - ghostinthelibrary
Specs: 61 278 words - Mature - Alternate Universe - Modern setting Summary: Jaskier is a twentysomething recently unemployed journalist and amateur musician looking for his big break. So when he’s saved from the jaws of a wyvern by the infamous Butcher of Blaviken, Geralt of Rivia, he comes up with a brilliant idea: he’ll follow the Witcher around and sing about their exploits. He’ll gain fame and fortune and Geralt will get a much needed image rehab. Everyone wins. Unless Jaskier goes and falls in love like an idiot.
The Witcher Wolf - im_fairly_witty
Specs: 11 448 words - Teen & Up audiences - Geralt accidentally becomes an emotional support animal Summary: It’s been two weeks since Geralt shouted Jaskier away from him on that mountain and Jaskier has been handling it like a champ by forlornly wandering alone in the wilderness with his lute. When he (literally) stumbles across an injured white wolf he decides to take a chance and see if he can help it, appreciating the irony of the situation but not quite realizing why it is that the wolf’s golden eyes look exactly like his Witcher’s... Inspired by @kayivy's lovely art on tumblr
home is nowhere, therefore you - Ark
Specs:  18 134 words - Explicit - Fairytales, love confessions Summary: "Right, well," Jaskier says, when he halts before Geralt. Up close, he looks much more nervous. There is sweat on his brow and his collar is damp with it, and his teeth keep catching on his lower lip. "True love's kiss. There's—ah—there's nothing to it." And he bends, the utter imbecile, and kisses Geralt full on the mouth.
Two Halves of a Whole - penguistifical
Specs: 3 450 words - Teen & Up audiences - Alternate Universe - Daemons Summary: Geralt doesn’t take much notice at first when the small brown bird alights on his table.
Second Refrain - Kenjiandco
Specs: 7 006 words - Explicit - Siren magic has unexpected effects on witchers Summary:  It’s been...Gods, it’s been more than a year since their paths last crossed. Since Geralt emphatically un-crossed them, one could say, outside another cave high up on a windy mountain top.  And here they are, trapped like a couple of treed cats in this little hole in a cliff face. No horse, no pack, no potions, no swords. Just a rapidly dwindling handful of dried meat, a useless hunting knife, a festering bite in his side that hurts much more than it should...and Jaskier, the surest omen that everything in his life is about completely stop making sense. Again. In which back-to-back encounters with a siren, a wyvern, and an old, old friend leave Geralt in need of a rescue. Just not the one he thought he needed.
is there a person more cherished - nowherebound
Specs: 629 words - General audiences - Just Geralt and Jaskier loving each other very much Summary: Geralt is the most fond of him. Fond, fond, fond… fond of his chestnut hair and sloped eyebrows, smoothed back by two gentle thumbs; honest eyes and sweet voice, bathing him in praise; slender waist and soft belly, perfect for resting his head on; petite hands, fingertips calloused from lute strings. How pretty, how divine, how lovely that Geralt is the one who gets to hold him, to love him. Yes, he is the most fond.
Food of love - tanktrilby
Specs: 22 485 words - Teen & Up audiences - Magical bard Jaskier, Renfri lives Summary: I brought a dead princess back to life through the power of song is the kind of thing that would have got an eyebrow raise even from the stone-faced Geralt of Rivia, so it's a good thing he and Geralt will probably never see each other again. (or: the one where Jaskier channels magic through his songs, and it almost never goes as expected.)
You Suffer Alone, Not Anymore - Sevent
Specs: 2 719 words - Teen & Up - Roach is an emotional support horse Summary: There's much Geralt is willing to put up with. The trials and tribulations of his witcher youth prepared him for a lifetime of cruelty and scorn. No one ever prepared him for kindness.
Guide - TenSpencerRiedPlease
Specs: 2 740 words - Not Rated - Alternate Universe - Sentinels and Guides, Protective Jaskier Summary: “Oh for the love of god Geralt, could you cooperate for like five minutes?” Jaskier asks as he pushes Geralt to sit on the ground. He doesn’t look impressed about it but if his ass wasn’t constantly going into some type of zone out or sensory overload this wouldn’t be an issue. They’ve already had to mute all the colors on the TV, it never plays very loud, he’s only just gotten used to sun light of all things and he can sit on the ground because Jaskier has long ago discovered that if he’s touching Geralt he doesn’t lose his focus in another sense so much. Geralt glares at him the whole way down but he does go.

Nessian assassin au???? X
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Much like a circle, or the opinions of men on women’s reproductive rights; this date was pointless.
The reasons for this inescapable fact were listless, but included the following:
1. In Nesta Archeron’s line of work, dating, was like trying to watch the news without getting pissed of. An admiral thing to attempt, but equally misguided and inevitably unsuccessful.
2. Nesta’s suitor was Rhysand brother; meaning he would no doubt be an arrogant, preening idiot with indecently good looks and a whole lot of nothing else going for him by blood.
3. Nesta was already hopelessly and disastrously in love.
Of course Nesta hadn’t been able to use any of these as valid excuses to get out of the date. “Hey Feyre, just calling to say that I know you want me to go on this blind date, but I actually can’t because you see, I’m a gun for hire, which as you can imagine makes dating rather tricky. Also I’m absolutely gone for my latest target’s bodyguard, who I’ve never actually spoken to but in the month and a half I’ve been stalking him has somehow managed to make me fall head over heels for him. Anyway, we still on for brunch on Thursday?”
It truly was a tragic set of circumstances.
Nesta thanked the door-man as he slipped her coat from her frame. Carefully and expertly folding the garment over his forearm and heading to the cloakroom. She’d made sure to give him a considerable tip, knowing her coat was probably worth more than what he made in a month.
Nesta wasn’t ashamed of her money, as far as she was concerned all currency was blood money. Every dollar in America was built on colonialism and funded by a corrupt economic system, she didn’t see why her cash was any dirtier just because she earned it by putting bullets in the backs of people’s heads. But she’d made it practice to always leave generous tips where she could.
Nesta would always remember Friday nights spent counting pennies on a dirty windowsill because it meant they could use the light of the street lamps when their own electricity had been cut off. Her hollow stomach ringing out along side the metallic song of coins with an ache like she’d been punched in the gut.
Now she was rolling in it.
“Comfortable” as Feyre would say.
The Archeron sisters had made good; Feyre having married into the richest family in the west of the globe, Elain with a clientele of elitists gagging to throw their wealth at the most extravagant weddings her sister could plan and Nesta cashing in a six figure transaction ever time she pulled a trigger.
But she wasn’t flashy. Nesta found something grossly immature in wearing wealth obtusely and without taste. This evening she’d opted for a simple dress, a dark emerald thing that reached her mid thigh and hugged her full form with a lethal softness. Bare of any jewellery and hair like dark chocolate loose and softly curled, her makeup had been applied minimally save for her mouth which she had painted a red like cracking blood, leaving her lips like a brutal bruise against her soft complexion.
It was the perfect ensemble for Le Divinità, tastefully expensive so that she did not look out of place in the architecturally exquisite building, the warm glow of the soaring room warming her bare arms and gold detailing and chandeliers with dripping, diamonte glass offset against the kenia cream marble.
While Nesta was set on finding fault in her date, his taste was undeniable. Le Divinità had never prioritised fad-like trend and a costly ambience over good food and a legendary bar.
Heels clipping quietly against the stone floor, Nesta made her way over to said bar, fingers already restless for a cigarette to still her agitated dread at what was to come. She ordered a gin, straight, and checked her phone for the time. She’d made sure to arrive early, primarily to ensure she had time to neck back some liquor before her date arrived, but also because she’d find some small joy in making him uncomfortable having seemingly left her waiting.
Slinking into a bar stool, she tucked her ankle behind the another and taking a long sip of her gin, she couldn’t help where her mind wondered like a cheated lover back to their betrayer. Sickened with her own besotted crush as though it were a thick spoon of honey she were gagging on, Nesta still couldn’t help but think of him.
She’d spent this afternoon atop a rooftop, tortured by the unfolding Friday ritual she could now confirm went unaltered each week.
From noon till four in the afternoon Helion Day would work out in his private gym, located on the top floor of his more frequented office building, with his oh so gorgeous bodyguard.
The soaring glass windows meant Nesta had been entirely unobstructed as the only audience member to a truly delicious show of both men’s physiques. Her binoculars trembling slightly in her hands as she’d watched the CEO’s companion begin completing a gruelling regime of pull ups, bench pressing and combat instruction, all without a shirt. The expanse of his powerfully built upper body was the stuff of Nesta’s dreams. Tan flesh slick with sweat and dusted with fine hair over the broad panes of his defined chest and running in a darkening trail down his chiselled abdomen to disappear beneath the low slung waistband of his sweatpants that made a profuse Adonis belt visible to Nesta. With his thick hair tied back in a bun, intricate tattoos mapping his left pectoral and creeping over his arms and an obvious stubble creeping up his jaw, Nesta hadn’t known where to keep her eyes for longer than a hot moment of agonising appreciation. She knew where her eyes were should have been, but while her client also had his own physical appeal, Nesta only had eyes for one man.
He was so impossibly broad and large it gave Nesta a primal thrill to think of how he could use that brute strength to fuck her as hard and rough as she craved. The impression of his cock through those sweat pants had left Nesta staring at one of her largest vibrators once she’d got home and telling herself that there was no way he could have been bigger, despite what she’d seen implied.
She’d closed her eyes and pictured him beneath her as she’d then rode the pink toy, her cunt throbbing with wet arousal from the hours of visual foreplay. She burned to know what his voice sounded like. Whether he would groan as he fucked her throat with his thick cock, or if he’d murmur filthy words or encouragement and praise. She’d almost given herself a headache trying to fabricate in her mind the noises escaping his mouth as he’d worked out. That rugged jaw clenching in moments of intense exertion and handsome face often appearing as though he were grunting through a movement that Nesta swore would snap any other man in half.
“Nesta?”
A purely male and deep voice sounded from beside her.
She turned, and almost shattered the half empty glass in her hand.
Had it been spiked?
The gin has to have been laced with some hallucinogenic- that was literally the only reality that she would accept being any part of. Because standing before her, was Helion Day’s body guard.
Fuck.
“Do I know you?” she drawled boredly.
He wore a crisp, white dress shirt which hugged his upper body in a way that was doing things for Nesta, and a simple pair of slacks that had clearly been tailored to his powerfully built legs.
She was utterly, truly and absolutely fucked.
What the hell was she meant to do? She’d been made, she’d been fucking made. Three years and Nesta had never made one mistake, hadn’t slipped up once, she hadn’t just done everything by the book she’d all but written the new bloody testament on assassination, so how the fuck had this guy caught her?
“Well you know of me, Sweetheart” his smile was like watching chocolate melt, warm, rich and decadent. A five o’clock shadow was cast across his jaw and an entirely unfair dimple kissed the corner of his mouth as he smirked with a dangerous combination of pure male arrogance and sincere attention.
She played at looking him up and down with a dismissive flick of her eyes. “Unlikely,” she said absently, taking a sip of her gin, her lashes fluttering shut as though she were physically pained by the boredom this interaction caused her. Should she smash the glass and get a deep swipe at his gut, going for the face as he’d lunge at her and then try and make a break for the door? He was at least six foot, and Nesta knew exactly how toned he was, but she was quick.
He clutched a hand to his chest playfully, his eyes still dangerously assured “you wound me” he said, before leaning in ever so slightly so that Nesta swore she could taste the echo of an aged cigar on his breath. “And to think I was arrogant enough to believe it was me you’d got all dolled up for this evening” he winked, plucking a cube of brown sugar from a tiny dish on the bar and popping it between his perfect teeth, a smooth and swoon-worthy smugness set in his jaw that Nesta couldn’t work out if she wanted to punch or kiss off of his stupidly gorgeous face.
“And to think,” she purred sweetly, “I was naïve enough to think I would be able to get all dolled up this evening without an entitled asshole bothering me” Nesta’s glare was cool as the ice that swirled in glossy cubes at the bottom of her glass.
He was toying with her, like she were some amusing doll he’d found and watching her try to wriggle out of this with nothing but a sharp tongue was his new favourite game.
“Well thank god I’m not an entitled asshole, just the very good looking one your sister set you up with. However, if any such individuals approach you, let me know and I will defend both your honour and right to look as lovely as you do without the unsolicited advances of men”
Nesta felt like a party popper had gone off in her rib cage and she was choking on the streams of confetti in her throat, heartbeat off kilter.
There was no way.
Nesta’s life had taught her that the universe did not have a sense of humour, and the only way that her bodyguard heart-throb also happened to be Rhysand’s brother, was if she were the metaphorical punchline of some cosmic joke. An assassin and a bodyguard walk into a bar… god it even sounded like a shitty joke.
“Cassian Velarys” he extended a large hand to her, which Nesta took, slightly entranced by the unfolding madness. He pressed a brief kiss to the back of her palm which Nesta had not been expecting.
“You look nothing like Rhysand” she said.
A light chuckle escaped him and Nesta thought he might need to hold her upright if he kept being so damned sexy.
Rhysand was what Nesta would describe as pretty, with piercing eyes that she refused to admit we’re actually violet, and sharp features cut with classical beauty, while Cassian was a far more devastating kind of handsome where Nesta was concerned. Wilder, throbbing with power and unrefined, rough charm. And older as well she’d guess, but not by much. They couldn’t be related, this could not be happening.
“I’m adopted” he explained.
Nesta could not believe the absolute insanity of this. It was a coincidence of Shakespearean plot; throw in some inadvertent incest or cannibalism and it would have been a Greek bloody myth.
She took a sweeping swig of her gin, chin tossed back delicately enough but still allowing the rest of the liquor to empty into her system.
The most infuriating part of this entire bullshit scenario was that it made total sense. Feyre has told her that Rhysand’s brother ran a security firm, but that at the moment he was doing some private hire work for a friend. Hell she’d even mentioned in passing a few months ago how Helion was an old friend of the Velarys brothers.
Okay, okay so this was happening.
The bartender had appeared again to take Cassian’s order and Nesta couldn’t help but take the opportunity to fawn over that handsome face up close at last. A doe like softness to her eyes that the bartender definitely noticed even if Cassian didn’t, his attention on the wine list as he asked about a Portuguese red. At work he’d always worn black Ts and trousers, the fitted fabric hugging at his chiselled upper body. The man cleaned up nice. Which was saying a lot when his comparatively unkept state was enough to have Nesta worried she might literally be drooling as she observed him. With her cheek propped on her curled fist, elbow against the bar, Nesta couldn’t have dragged her gaze away if she’d had a gun to her head as she watched him finish up his order and added, “And vodka” flicking her eyes to the man behind the bar. “Lots, and lots or vodka”.

Two men. One parking space. Lots of pranks, lots of persistence, lots of passion.
2) Throw Me In The Deep End | Mature | 5914 words
He’s a respectable captain who doesn’t go around bedding his crew, although when certain members of his crew decide to land on his bed themselves, it’s a bit of a tough  choice. So it’s a struggle, really.
3) Like You Hate Me | Explicit | 6541 words
“You have poor taste for someone with the last name Styles,” he says, turning to show the back of his pants to Harry—the pants Harry had just stitched his name across last night to keep this type of thing from happening again. Of course, he’s accomplished nothing but indirectly making himself pop a stiffy over Louis fucking Tomlinson.
4) A Virgin To That Money | Explicit | 7366 words
AU. Harry and Louis are broke university students who hate each other and make a sex tape. (In which Louis gets fucked a lot, Harry can’t find the camera, and the road to falling in love is different for everyone.)
5) Call Me Shallow But I'm Only Getting Deeper | Explicit | 7367 words
The one where Louis is a brat so Harry spanks him with a riding crop.
6) Focal Point | Mature | 8935 words
By the time you read this, I’ll be gone, so don’t bother looking. Last night was lovely, Harry, I’m sure you agree. Sorry to run, but that’s just how life works sometimes, I’m sure you understand. Don’t forget about me. xx P.S. Thanks for the money
7) Ain’t No Telling Who’s In Charge Here | Explicit | 14562 words
The thing about Louis’ and Harry’s dynamic is that while Louis is the instigator of 99% of the foolishness, Harry will always come back at him with something ten times dirtier than whatever Louis had thought up. Of course, Louis can’t let that go, so he does something else, so Harry has to do something else, and then it’s a vicious cycle that continues until one of them makes a plea for a truce.
It’s like that even when they’re at home. Sometimes it’s like that especially while they’re at home, because Louis gets bored easily and Harry is just such an easy target. The point is that the kind of foolishness that Louis is known for doesn’t stop when the cameras stop rolling, so when Louis lets himself into Harry’s bedroom at 5:30 in the morning to annoy Harry into waking up before he goes for a run is completely normal and to be expected.
Except that it turns out not to be so normal.
8) Know You Got That Thing (That I Like) | Explicit | 15798 words
In all the ways he thought about their reunion going, watching Louis finger himself open was not on the list.
9) Like Gold | Explicit | 17763 words
Royal AU where Harry is Prince Louis’ Adviser, and Louis is anything but helpful.
10) Another Day Gettin' Into Trouble | Explicit | 25619 words
Harry’s drunk when the idea occurs to him. He’s also a pop star, so sometimes his drunk ideas turn into actual things instead of just ideas. The clone-a-willy kit is one of them. In Harry’s defense, when he first thinks about it his intention is just to buy the kit and give it to Louis to make his own dildo with, because that’s what he wants anyway, right? To have a penis filling him up? Then he realizes that it would be weird if Louis made a copy of his own dick to fuck himself with. It’d be super weird. Louis fucking himself? That’s a weird idea. Harry’s pretty sure Louis wouldn’t like that. Clearly the only solution here is to use his own dick for the mold.
11) Up To No Good | Explicit | 26525 words
Note: This fic is the first part in a series. The entire series is BL.
Harry doesn’t think of himself as a womanizer, not at all. Sure, he enjoys sex, enjoys how women feel underneath him, and by some people’s standards he has sex with quite a lot of people, but that’s no reason to tell him that he can’t have a female PA anymore.
It’s especially no excuse for giving him a male PA who’s possibly the most gorgeous boy in the world who won’t even let Harry look at him for too long.
Sometimes Harry hates his life.
12) The Forest for the Trees | Explicit | 28250 words
Louis and Harry had the ultimate roommates and best friends with benefit relationship until Harry suddenly ends the benefits part, shocking and hurting Louis in the process. He’s fallen in love with Harry, but is too scared to tell him the truth because he just does not do first moves. In the spirit of unrequited love and with a little help from Harry’s mother, Louis decides to set Harry up with a series of horrible blind dates, hoping his roommates will see dating is too much trouble and come back to him. In the end, things don’t go as planned.
13) Can't Fool Me | Explicit | 30162 words
AU where Louis hates fraternities and would never be into a frat boy. And one of these things is definitely not a lie.
14) Have You Coming Back Again | Explicit | 31086 words | Sequel
It’s five o’clock in the morning. Louis has a lecture at half eight. He could be using this time to study or to do his readings or to go to the gym, but - well. He doesn’t have any exams coming up, he’s not going to his seminar today anyway and he hates the gym.
Instead he’s using this time to fuck with Harry Styles’ poor little brain.
Louis jogs across the street and jabs the key into the car door. It opens easily, not that he was expecting anything else. He copied the key for a reason, after all.
He’s got Harry’s schedule memorized, more because the guy keeps following him around than anything, so he doesn’t bother looking around before climbing behind the wheel and setting his bag on the passenger seat. It’s a Monday, which means that Harry doesn’t even get out of bed before noon unless he’s planning on harassing Louis.
15) If I Should Stay | Explicit | 31185 words
Louis is a television actor who suddenly needs a bodyguard.  Harry is the bodyguard he ends up hiring.
16) All The Right Moves | Explicit | 32264 words
This is the third game in a row that Harry has been distracted by the noisy boy in the stands, five rows back.
There’s really no reason that he should feel compelled to stare into the audience as frequently as he is, but he can’t help it. This boy is a nuisance. And he’s loud. Even from basketball court with nine other players running by him, shoes squeaking on the shiny hardwood floor, and thousands of cheering college students, Harry can hear this boy nearly shrieking, his laugh more like a cackle than anything.
It’s seriously obnoxious.
17) Promise You’ll Remember That You’re Mine | Explicit | 34564 words
What he doesn’t expect is to see Louis in their bathroom wearing panties. Not even like standard panties, they’re fucking black and sheer so Harry can see Louis’ full arse and there’s even lace trimming the edges. He nearly has a heart attack.
Harry’s face probably looks like a bright red tomato, and if not then the only other option would be that all his blood is going to his dick, because Louis looks like a fucking wet dream.
“Oh, you’re back.” Louis looks as nonchalant as ever, when Harry is over here freaking the fuck out.
18) The Sweetest Incantation | Explicit | 40598 words
Harry is a witch who's still working on developing his powers and Louis is a werecat who falls into his life and turns it upside down.
19) Kiss Me On The Mouth And Set Me Free (But Please Don't Bite) | Mature | 42074 words
Harry is the CEO of Flora Corp, Louis is his new secretary.
20) Who Would’ve Thought | Explicit | 44275 words | Companion Fic
The idea doesn’t come to Louis until they’ve been at the bungalow for a couple of days. Harry has no idea that he’s going to pop a knot. He’s been living his life with the expectation that he’s going to be a beta, and Louis isn’t going to tell him otherwise.
Louis is an omega, though, and most omegas want to be filled up with a knot, fucked the way their bodies are made to be fucked, and Louis is no different. In ten years he wants to have an alpha waiting for him at home who will hold him down and fuck him exactly the way Louis wants to be fucked without worrying that they’re going to expect him to stay at home, open a joint bank account, raise a litter of babies, cook and clean and, most importantly, be submissive. For that to happen Louis needs an entirely different kind of alpha.
And so the plan is born.
21) Worth Dying For | Explicit | 44906 words
“You’ve got to be kidding me,” Louis says, leaning back in his chair and crossing his arms over his chest. In the center of the table, a set of three glossy photos stares up at him, mocking him.
“A security detail is non-negotiable, Louis, you know this,” his mum reminds him, tapping the middle photo with two fingers.
Louis doesn’t look back down at the pictures, gesturing towards them wildly, over-dramatically. “This is not a security detail!” he protests. “This is a lanky college student. In what world do you hire someone like this kid to protect me?”
22) Tangled Up In You | Explicit | 45152 words
Harry blinks once. And blinks again. And says, his voice dangerous: “Niall, did you get me a mail-order bride?”
Because what the actual fuck. It kind of looks like Niall’s just purchased a person. For Harry.
Niall blinks back at him for a few moments, before throwing his head back and howling with laughter. Harry throws a pillow at him. Hard. “No, what the fuck, Harry.”
“A prostitute then?” Harry also doesn't want a prostitute.
“Of course not!”
“A stripper?”
“No!”
Damn, he’s running out of ideas. He settles for launching another pillow at Niall’s head. Niall bats it away easily, still laughing. “Stop!”
“What did you get me, then?!” Niall must hear the tinge of hysteria in his voice, because he’s pulling himself together, trying to stop himself from laughing.
There’s still a big grin on his face, though, when he says, “I got you a professional cuddler.”
A professional…what. “What?”
23) Something In The World Today | Explicit | 48027 words
It shouldn’t be a surprise, the first time that Louis drops to his knees in front of Harry. It shouldn’t be, because it’s been something that Louis has needed for a long time. It shouldn’t be, because he’s been crawling out of his skin for weeks on end. It shouldn’t be, because Harry always makes him feel better. It shouldn’t be, because he’s needed this even when he didn’t know that he needed it.
Somehow, it still is.
24) Amazing Sin | Explicit | 56034 words
The story of Louis ‘Steal Your Man’ Tomlinson.
25) Swim In The Smoke | Explicit | 101778 words
“What about this, Captain?” Liam asks, nudging the boy kneeling between their feet with the toe of his boot. The boy hisses and swipes at him, slurring out something unintelligible around the makeshift gag Niall had to stuff in his mouth. He misses by a mile and tries again, just as ineffectively.
Harry looks down at him, at the way the sun streams over his face and shoulders, at the way the gag stretches his mouth, lips pink and chapped. He’s lithe and pretty, smudged all over with dirt. They had found him tied up below deck, mostly unconscious, next to a barrel full of gold. He’s clearly a prisoner, but there’s something familiar about him, something that niggles at Harry’s brain. Something he can’t quite put his finger on.
“Put him in my cabin,” Harry decides, turning back to deal with the rest of the loot. The boys screams out jumbled curse words at Harry’s back, muffled by the gag, and Harry can’t understand any of it.

Behave - Byun Baekhyun
Tumblr media
Type : Oneshot // Smut // Mafia!au
Word Count : 2330
Author Note : This took sooo long to do, I’m sorry to the anon that requested it // BUT // here it is , I hope you enjoy my lovelies 💛
Tumblr media
Growing up , you’d always been very aware of your family’s “business”. More than a few kidnapping attempts; the occasional banquet shoot out; you’d grown used to being under constant threat of attack. Your father wasn’t a particularly “liked” man. That’s a horrible understatement. Your father was probably one of the most hated amongst the head families; or EXO , as the organisation liked to be called. Meaning he had quite the abundance of enemies; that all saw you as target number 1. If you’re looking to bring down a top Mafia boss, daddy’s little girl is probably a good place to start.
While your father portrayed himself as a ruthless and cold tyrant to everyone else; he was never that way with you. He’d been raising you alone since you were 8 years old; after the unexpected death of your mother; and there was nothing in the world he cherished more.
Despite more than half of the Mafia world gunning for your head; you lived a rather carefree life. Knowing enough to be cautious but also still being young and free. Well … as ‘free’ as you could be; and a large part of that was due to one person, Byun Baekhyun.
The Byun’s were close family friends, Mr Byun being your father’s longest ally. The close working of your fathers meant that you and Baekhyun had practically grown up together. It didn’t take a genius to see that the pair of you had soon become completely smitten; never leaving each other’s side; you always had each other’s back. So when you grew into young adults and the attempts against your father, and subsequently yourself, became more and more severe - there was only one way that could assure your safety.
An alliance. The Byuns’ weren’t nearly as hated as your own family, merging together would not only ensure your protection from any outside threats, but would also strengthen the business side of both parties.
The alliance was cemented in the form of an arranged marriage between Baekhyun and yourself. Not that either of you minded. Truth be told, at this point the love you both shared was undeniable, lingering stares and touches were no longer the extent of your relationship. It had become something much more. Moments stolen away from functions and business events, to be pressed up against each other in hallways and closets. The definition of childhood sweethearts.
Now, 3 years later, the Byun family were the biggest Mafia in Seoul, led by Baekhyun after the passing of both of your fathers. He had stepped up and taken charge, diminishing half the families that had threatened the pair of you for most of your lives. He was a king. Nobody dared touch him or you anymore. So when he got a call in the middle of the night from Chanyeol, his right hand, a few weeks ago, about a possible threat - he went straight into action.
Much to your displeasure. He was gone more often than not; whenever he was home, he was stressed and tired and certainly not in the mood for the kind of relief you were needing.
It was starting to wear you down. You suddenly felt lonely in this big house without him. You’d been attached at the hip since you were 12 years old, sleeping in the same bed since you were 17, now he was gone and you notice just how cold everything seems.
It was your anniversary week and to say Baekhyun had been extra flakey recently would be an understatement, so it’s no surprise to you when he comes home an hour late and starts preparing for a meeting in his office.
“Baek? What are you doing?” You ask, irritability evident, in the doorway watching him gather various files and papers.
He doesn’t answer you.
“Baek!”
Sighing loudly, he stops his movements to shoot a glare in your direction before continuing, “the guys are coming over, we’re having a meeting.” He walks straight passed you without a second glance, angering you even more as you’re forced to follow him through the house.
“Now Baek?! Really?!”
“Yes now, isn’t that obvious.” He was being blunt with you, meaning he was extra stressed, but unfortunately for him, this was the last straw and you weren’t going to let it slide. Not today of all days.
“It’s our anniversary Baekhyun!” You yell at his retreating back, “it’s our fucking anniversary! Can’t this wait for just one goddamn night?!”
He stops in his tracks and turns around to face you, scowling and eyes piercing.
“I’m aware that it’s our fucking anniversary Y/N, but I’m a little busy trying to keep you safe. So excuse me if I don’t exactly have time right now!”
Both tempers were reaching boiling point as you remained at a standoff for a few minutes, simmering in pent up frustrations and stress, just glaring at each other.
When suddenly the doorbell rang, signalling that the guys were here and this conversation, or lack thereof, was put on hold. Moving towards the door, Baekhyun turns to look at you once more, expression hard and eyes cold so you knew that he was serious.
“Behave.”
You certainly were not going to behave.
The guys all sit around the large meeting table, hardly speaking as they read through the reports in front of them. From the looks on their faces, whatever threat they’re facing is big, even for EXO and if you were a better woman maybe you would understand and back off. But you’re tired; frustrated; horny and all dressed up with nowhere to go. You’d been around long enough to know that Baekhyun, along with the rest of EXO, could handle whatever was coming; so you let impulse take over.
Back in your bedroom, you strip down to nothing but the black lace lingerie set you’d worn especially for Baekhyun, and pull on a matching silk robe before sauntering off into the meeting room.
Without a word, you move around the table and place yourself on your very shocked and angry husband’s lap. Ignoring the incredulous stares of the other 8 men.
Eyes challenging yet again as you look back at Baekhyun, with an expression feigning innocence. His hands gripped your waist harshly but he knew the game you wanted to play and he wasn’t going to be the first to back down. Not yet.
Ignoring his tightening grip, you tear your eyes away from him to look around the table at the others; who are staring at the pair of you with wide eyes and hints of amusement. With a cough to clear his throat and after repositioning you on his lap so he can see the rest of the table, Baekhyun continues on with the meeting.
The whole time you spent fidgeting and mumbling digs at him under your breath. He’d blown you off for weeks, cancelled your anniversary plans and now, had the audacity to ignore you after you had made such a show of yourself. Your bratty behaviour does not go unnoticed by the rest of the table, in fact, the boys struggle to keep their focus on the meeting at all, especially when you start to get even more bored and discreetly open up your legs , swinging them gently.
“Behave.” Baekhyun’s gruff voice whispers into your ear as he roughly pulls your legs back together. Not caring about the audience around you.
Rolling your eyes, you lean up on the desk.
“Junmyeon,” Your voice is as sweet as honey, focusing solely on the man opposite you, “you fuck your wife regularly right?” Your crude question makes the guests pause and stare at you once again, but it’s the quiet growl you hear from your husband behind you that spurs you on. Turning to the man directly next to Junmyeon you continue, “Jongdae, you satisfy your girlfriend, don’t you?” eyes blinking innocently at him, Jongdae failing to suppress a laugh.
Having enough, Baekhyun pushes you off his lap and grabs your wrist, pulling you out of the room into the hallway.
“What the fuck is wrong with you?!” He hisses once you’re both out of earshot, “you’re acting like such a fucking brat right now, we’re in a meeting, this is fucking serious Y/N!”
“And our anniversary isn’t?!” You shout back, not caring if the others hear, “everything will be fine Baek it always is, but I won’t be! You’ve been gone for weeks, I’ve been alone for weeks! It’s our anniversary for fuck sake!”
His eyes shake in anger, stepping closer so that your faces are mere centimetres apart, “We will talk about this later. Go.”
And then he’s back to work, leaving you to simmer in the hallway. Angry tears threatening to fall down your cheeks but you wouldn’t dare give him the satisfaction.
It seems like forever before you hear the sounds of everyone leaving downstairs. You’re lying in bed, still in your underwear and robe, waiting for the inevitable fight that’s to come once Baekhyun gets upstairs. You know you pushed him tonight, when he was already stressed enough, but did you go too far? You don’t think so. Surely the whole EXO empire would’ve survived one night without him. You have needs and your husband has not been fulfilling them. What else could you have done? If the nerves accumulating in your stomach are anything to go by, probably something a little different.
Baekhyun enters the room. He’s silent but his eyes convey everything he’s thinking.
“Do you think that was funny?” He asks. Snapping off his tie and as good as ripping off his shirt. You daren’t speak.
“Are you seriously that desperate to get fucked you have to put on a show in front of our business partners, our friends?!” His breathing is heavy but even, as he removes the rest of his clothes, it makes you question what the hell he’s planning on doing next.
“Wearing barely anything, spreading your legs, talking to them about their sex,” he walks to the bed and grabs your ankles, pulling them around his waist and leaning over you. You still don’t speak, just stare up at him, eyes just as harsh as his own, letting him know you’re still angry.
“You embarrassed me Y/N.” His lips coming down to suck at your collarbone, “such a naughty girl,” one of his hands moving to unhook your bra while the other rips the panties right off your body, making you gasp out, “You couldn’t just behave for one fucking night.”
His lips tease up your neck, jaw and cheek, distracting you from how his hands slyly grab yours and attach them to the headboard with his previously discarded tie. It’s the pressure on your wrists that snaps you out of the daze he’s locked you in, “what the fuck Baek!” You whimper childishly, you’ve both done many things in the bedroom but he’s never tied you up before. You felt excited and nervous all at once.
Ignoring you, Baekhyun starts kissing down your body till he reaches the space between your legs. “You’re so wet Y/N,” His fingers prod their way along your slit, sending shivers straight to your core. You’d teased him earlier and now it was his turn to tease you. “You really were desperate huh? You missed me that much you’re all hot and bothered already my naughty baby?” You can feel his breath fanning against your wet skin, the build up making you pull at your wrists impatiently.
“Please Baek, I’m sorry for before I just missed you so much, please touch me”
Almost immediately, Baekhyun moves his lips around your clit and starts sucking harshly, scraping his teeth against it every now and then, sending shivers down your spine, bringing you closer and closer to your high. His hands grip onto your hips, pressing down to stop your squirming, forcing you to face your approaching orgasm head on. Then, just before you’re about to let it all go, he pulls away, smirking down at you.
“Why’d you stop!?” You whine at him out of breath, desperately tugging on the tie that’s stopping you from pushing his face back into you so he can finish what you started.
“That,” he wipes his mouth, moving to kneel between your legs, “is for misbehaving in front of our guests earlier.” He smugly responds, all the while slowly stroking himself.
Not even waiting for you to fully recover, he pushes himself into you in one rough movement, causing you to scream out at the sudden stretch, “Act like a slut, get treated like a slut Y//N.”
He starts thrusting into you at an unbelievable pace, hands firmly on your ass, holding you to him as he pounds into you. His mouth leaving wet open kisses on your shoulder before nipping at your ear to whisper, “This is what you want right Y/N? To be fucked like this, hard, rough, tied to the bed like the slut you are huh? That’s why you were being such a fucking brat in front of all our friends? You missed me fucking you like this? Are you happy now?”
Feeling you clench around him, Baekhyun brings one of his hands to grab at your breasts roughly, slipping his tongue into your mouth, rolling his hips deep into you. Pleasure rips through your entire body, shaking uncontrollably, moaning out curses as Baekhyun keeps chasing his own high; which follows soon after. His cum mixing with your own, coating your insides. He continues to rut into you a few more times as the pair of you cool down. The only sounds being your combined heavy breathing and the rustling of sheets.
Baekhyun drops down next to you on the bed and reaches up to untie your wrists, pulling you to lie on top of him. His fingers idly begin combing through your hair, lulling you to sleep to the sound of his heartbeat. Nothing else is said between you. While not solving the problem entirely, you’re sure you won’t have to do quite as much begging on your next anniversary.

ML WIP Fic of Season 1
I got a bit tired of the salt of s2 and s3 and I ended up writing a canon divergent of one of the things that really got on my nerves originally: the adults
Winning is easy. Governing is harder.
“Mayor Bourgeois, any comments on your opposing candidate becoming today’s akuma victim?”
The flashing lights and loud pestering of the news media were brighter than ever in the city council’s hall. All the attention and publicity were magnetized due to the unusual circumstances that have unraveled throughout Paris.
Heroes with unparalleled strength and powers fighting against a villain that can easily manipulate a person into their darkest selves.
With that latter part in mind, Andre Bourgeois shakes his head with shame, “Witnessing Mister D’Argencourt becoming so deranged and agro over our professional careers is such a sad mark on our history. I thought he would be better than to succumb into his failures.”
“By succumb do you believe that all akuma victims are far too emotional and weak to the whims of Le Papillion?”
Ah, leave it to reporters to twist words the moment they enter the air.
“Nonsense!” The mayor said loudly, not shouted mind you, for he is a politician. “This Le Papillion fiend is the cruelest to everyone’s humanity. Thankfully we have our heroes, Ladybug and Chat Noir, ready to save the day.”
At the bold declaration, the cameras glinted at the super duo’s mention. Everyone in the grand hall couldn’t help but belt out more questions about the heroes, either about fears or hopes of the future but one voice prevailed over the others.
“Daddy, don’t forget to say how Ladybug saved my life!”
His dear sweet daughter is truly modest is she not?
Chloe is instantly at his side, despite his bodyguards’ initial protest. Her smile shines like a star, giving the cameras a picture perfect look of the mayor as a good father. He’s even wearing a matching tie for his daughter.
“Ladybug is simply the best,” Chloe stated, “Today she totally stopped that Dark Sword guy all to save me again. She just treats me as the jewel of Paris because that’s exactly what I am.”
The girl flips her hair over her shoulder, turning her head this way and that. Oh, the father thought, she must be modeling. That Agreste boy should give her a few more pointers.
“Oh my dear, darling,” Andre laughs, pressing a kiss on her forehead.
She immediately pushes him lightly, whining angrily, “Daddy, you’re going to mess up my hair!”
“I’m sorry Chloe,” he quickly has a bashful smile for the ever present camera. “Girls and their hair, I’ll understand it one day.”
A few reporters laugh, the men’s more notably than the women’s.
“If something as simple has hair puzzles you, I can’t help but fear the other things that you do not understand today,” a sharp voice enters the hall.
The click of high heels gains all of the cameras’ attention, leaving Andre’s twitching frown unseen for the most part.
“Hello, Amelia,” the mayor greets and makes sure his charming smile is captured as he makes a big gesture to meet her halfway and shakes her hand.
With the massive focus on Armand D’Argencourt akumatized into Le Chevalier Noir, the other mayoral candidate, Amelia Archambeau, had the perfect opportunity to have a dramatic entrance.
Her subtle smile does nothing to blunt the quick scratch from her red painted nails when their hands meet.
“Madame Archambeau,” a flurry of reports call out but one has a question that digs into Andre’s side, “are you implying that Mayor Bourgeois is lacking his duty?”
“Surely she’s not,” Andre answers for her, “that would be quite a childish remark.”
“Au contraire Mayor,” Amelia rebuts with her tone as sharp as her hair cut. There’s a snake in her smile as she continues, taking a step closer to the camera, “He dares say it’s childish on my behalf when in reality, it is unprofessional on his.”
“Excuse me?” He splutters but quickly composing his face. He lets Chloe be the face of his anger as her jaw drops dramatically.
“Le Papillion may have turned Paris upside down and yes, we have our faith in Ladybug and Chat Noir to return everything back to the way it is, our normal day to day lives,” Amelia’s strong voice enraptures the entire hall, everyone silent and patience to hear her.
From a nearby TV screen, Amelia Archambeau is framed in the center. As disrespected and angry Andre feels at this moment, he’s impressed at how her small frown is enough to not be interpreted as unreasonable fury nor uninterested disappointment. It’s her eyes that frighten him, black and confident and utterly ready to speak her truth.
“Yet that’s just it, our day to day lives where we experience emotions both big and small. Le Papillion abuses our vulnerability, forces it down into our weakness and his strength. Our heroes save us each and every time but does our mayor do?”
Having no idea where this is heading, Andre strides to her side, looking down at her, “I give where credit is due, to our heroes. They handle this akuma attacks. What do you expect me to do?” He turns to the cameras with a humorous smile, “Wear spandex and jump around Paris?”
Their audience laughs but when his eyes meet again with Amelia’s, her unimpressed little shake of her head is only a prelude to his downfall.
“I expected you to at least help,” she stresses, her lips pressed into a thin line. “There have been thirty akuma cases and each one woke up confused and disoriented and felt guilty for feeling emotions. No one should ever feel invalidated by that. My department of community service and volunteer programs has been setting up therapist and specialized experts on assuring the public that Le Papillion’s control on us is not inevitable. But we are a small effort compared to the absolute nothing that you, Andre B, have done.”
“I support our heroes through enforcing the police force,” he defended, feeling the easy air in the council hall boil under the tension. “Security perimeters are set to protect the public.”
“If that’s the case then why is there a teenager running into the fray?” Amelia directs her tight lipped frown to the people behind the studio grade cameras, “How is it that only one blog has the closet shots of the fights while the official news channels only cover up the aftermath?”
While the cameras are still steadily meeting the woman’s gaze, the reporters’ eyes shift elsewhere.
That elsewhere is Chloe who scoffs loudly.
“That blogger just doesn’t know when to quit her embarrassing little website,” Chloe claims, mindlessly checking her nails like it’s all boring news.
Amelia only blinks at her, “She’s also your classmate. Her website tells the public that majority of the akuma victims are also in your class,” her cold stare doesn’t waver off Chloe but then that ice targets Andre once more. “Most of these victims are children, Andre, your daughter’s schoolmates. Ladybug and Chat Noir are seen to help out the victims once the akuma is gone but surely there is more than can be done. You could have done more, Andre, you could’ve put more support in the public’s census fear of having one bad day and suddenly lashing out with an unbelievable damage.”
The mayor couldn’t speak a word. His general knowledge and efforts relied solely on the heroes and the police district.
Madame Archambeau faces the cameras, “I’d like to remind you all of my plans if you choose me as your new mayor. There has been an unbalanced of power to the police, the public, and the heroes. Everyone is responsible for their emotions but no one is responsible for a terrorist manipulating an unhappy individual into a bomb. I already have my department in charge of giving back to the public through the means of food drive, blood drives, therapy programs, homeless shelters, and many others that I know and seen Le Papillion lay his butterflies on.”
She closes her eyes, shame and sadness exposure through the tiniest of trembling hands that reminds Andre on how much pressure it is to be responsible for so many people that suffer.
Yet as the mayor, his pressure would weigh the same wouldn’t it?
It takes a few seconds for him to correct himself, now realizing how he effortlessly slides that sense of duty to the red and black heroes.
There were so many things he could have done, he realizes far too late as he watches Amelia open her eyes and straightens her posture.
“However this election ends, I will continue to put in all of my efforts into protecting Paris.” Amelia smiles kindly, so soft and strong, “It’s the least I can do to help out Ladybug and Chat Noir.”
That smile and those words, the ones that speared into his gut and politely shook sense to his brain, Andre Bourgeois can already see the results before any grand announcement is played.
He spends his last day as mayor thinking about the little amount of help he provided for his city.

Books Read in 2019: The Why
In a tradition I accidentally started for myself and now quite enjoy, at the end of the year I look back at my reading list and answer the question, why did you read this particular book?
Below, the books are split into groups by target readership age, plus nonfiction at the end. This year I have added the category “how I heard of it” as well, because I just think that info is neat.
FICTION
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Visitor - K.L. Slater. 2018. Read because: Ten episodes of The Good Cop weren't enough, so I tried to find something w/ similar characters, and this looked kinda like "TJ as a slightly more withdrawn weirdo." By the time I realized it wouldn't work due to being British, I was too excited by the prospect of a thriller to stop.
How I heard of it: Googling keywords
Like the Red Panda - Andrea Seigel. 2004. The back cover and first few pages reminded me of a friend I had once.
How I heard of it: Library
The Lost Vintage - Ann Mah. 2018. What's that? You've got some secret family history/a mystery from the past to be solved using old personal papers, including a diary? My jams.
How I heard of it: Goodreads
The Asylum for Wayward Victorian Girls (4th ed.) - Emilie Autumn. 2017. I googled for books that promised unique formatting/art design, and Emilie Autumn has always been an intriguing enigma to me.
I Heard the Owl Call My Name - Margaret Craven. 1967. I know this title, but not why -- when I tripped over it in the teen* section and saw how tiny it was, I decided to find out what it was about. (*it's there because it's often taught in schools. It's here because its intended audience is adult.)
Escape - Barbara Delinsky. 2011. Went looking for an audiobook -- the cover with a woman standing on a small bridge amidst the woods drew me in (I can't find that cover on the internet though), and the idea of abandoning responsibility and driving off to a small town sounded like my dream.
How I heard of it: Library
Saul and Patsy - Charles Baxter. 2003. Another search result from my attempt to cast Josh Groban in a novel -- Midwestern-set and a man very much in love with his wife, no worries about the relationship being wrecked? Sweet! (though ultimately, I had to mentally recast)
How I heard of it: Googling
California - Edan Lepucki. 2014. Needed an audiobook. The title and green forest cover caught my eye, and the off-the-grid life + promise of a mysterious and possibly suspicious settler community described in the plot appealed to me.
How I heard of it: Library
The Lost Queen of Crocker County - Elizabeth Leiknes. 2018. Woman moves back home to rural Iowa in a book described as a "love letter to the Midwest"? Look at all these good choices.
How I heard of it: Library
All The Things You Are - Declan Hughs. 2014. Was looking for a different book w/ this title, but saw Spooky Dark House cover + wild summary and wanted to know how that could possibly happen / what the explanation was.
How I heard of it: Library catalog
Tumbledown Manor - Helen Brown. 2016. Cover love. A book about restoring a historic family manor?? BRING ME THERE.
How I heard of it: Library
The War Bride's Scrapbook - Caroline Preston. 2017. IT'S LITERALLY A SCRAPBOOK. I loved her other one like this.
How I heard of it: Goodreads
Miss Pettigrew Lives For A Day - Winifred Watson. 1938. Rewatched the movie and needed to relive an alternate take immediately (especially for more Michael).
How I heard of it: special features on the DVD
April & Oliver - Tess Callahan. 2009. This just screamed "(slightly less storybook) Ned/Chuck AU!!" [Pushing Daisies] at me. There was semi-platonic comfort-spooning in the second chapter, COME ON.
How I heard of it: Half Price Books
A Short Walk to the Bookshop - Aleksandra Drake. 2019. This looked like an even more solid Ned/Chuck AU, missing only the childhood connection/age similarity, with bonus fave keywords anxiety, widower, bookshop and dog.
How I heard of it: Googling
Girl Last Seen - Nina Laurin. 2017. Recently watched "Captive" and wanted a story of the aftermath from the captive's perspective.
How I heard of it: Goodreads (specifically, I looked up an older book by this title intending to check out related recs, but this came up first)
The Road to Enchantment - Kaya McLaren. 2017. Gorgeous cover/title + "single [pregnant] woman inherits late mother's ranch" = an alternate life I want to try on.
How I heard of it: Library
From Sand and Ash - Amy Harmon. 2016. Love between childhood best friends who can’t (well, aren’t supposed to) touch? Sounds like a Ned/Chuck AU to me!
How I heard of it: a book blog post
My Oxford Year - Julia Whelan. 2018. Always here for age-appropriate student/teacher romances -- I had this one saved for a while -- but read now specifically to cast David Tennant.
How I heard of it: Goodreads
The Reckoning at Gossamer Pond - Jaime Jo Wright. 2018. There's a mystery from the past being solved in the present. Also, "inherited hoarder's trailer" made me v. curious about what was inside.
How I heard of it: a book blog post
My Husband the Stranger - Rebecca Done. 2017. It's Find Books That Remind Me Of David Tennant's Roles Month, and this was my crack at "Recovery."
How I heard of it: Googling
The House on Foster Hill - Jaime Jo Wright. 2017. Fixing up a spooky abandoned historic house + solving a mystery from the past in the present!
How I heard of it: a book blog post
Broadchurch - Erin Kelly. 2014. Fell in love with the show, had to immediately relive it in text form.
How I heard of it: Goodreads
The Vanishing - Wendy Webb. 2014. Spooky historic mansion from a reliable author for the spookening season.
How I heard of it: looking up the author’s back catalog
The Scholar - Dervla McTiernan. 2019. The Ruin - Dervla McTiernan. 2018. "Hmmm looks kind of like (Irish) Broadchurch but where the detective character has a girlfriend to fuss over and worry about. Nice." Read out of order because the second one had more girlfriend content, and enjoyed it enough to go back for book 1.
How I heard of it: Googling
The Day She Died - Catriona McPherson. 2014. The cover looked perfect for the Spook Season/gloomy weather. Sign me up for insta-families and murder mysteries w/ MCs in possible danger any day.
How I heard of it: library (literally because it was right next to McTiernan)
Still Missing - Chevy Stevens. 2010. Collecting base material for when I play this scenario (abduction/prolonged captivity and its aftermath) out w/ TV characters I like.
How I heard of it: Goodreads
This Is How You Lose The Time War - Amal El-Mohtar & Max Gladstone. 2019. It sounded EXACTLY like a (genderbent) Doctor/Master or Crowley/Aziraphale relationship.
How I heard of it: a book blog post
The Tale of Halcyon Crane - Wendy Webb. 2010. Wanted an audiobook and I like this author (esp. for spook season).
How I heard of it: author’s back catalog
The Child Garden - Catriona McPherson. 2015. I liked her previous book and this setting looked even spookier and more atmospheric.
How I heard of it: author’s back catalog
Quiet Neighbors - Catriona McPherson. 2016. One last dip into this author...because what part of "woman gets a job organizing the books in 'the oldest bookshop in a town full of bookshops' + an old cottage to stay in" does not sound like my dream life?
How I heard of it: author’s back catalog
Doctor Who: The Nightmare of Black Island - Mike Tucker. 2006. After 2.5 months in a Ten/Rose spiral, the time was nigh to pluck one of their novels I didn’t get around to reading back in my original fandom heyday.
How I heard of it: can't remember
Misery - Stephen King. 1987. I just woke up one day and decided I was in the mood to try this infamous mother of all literary whumps.
How I heard of it: can’t remember
The Whisper Man - Alex North. 2019. Went looking for books that would remind me of the father/son dynamic in "The Escape Artist."
How I heard of it: Googling
Open Your Eyes - Paula Daly. 2018. Second crack at a "Recovery"-shaped novel (it failed instantly because I didn’t take the possibility of diversity into account, but suspense is still a good genre regardless).
How I heard of it: Googling
The Last - Hanna Jameson. 2019. "Dystopian psychological thriller" + the gorgeous hotel on the cover.
How I heard of it: Goodreads

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Blood Wounds - Susan Beth Pfeffer. 2011. Established quality author + (what I thought was a) thriller premise.
How I heard of it: author’s back catalog

How I heard of it: library
The Year of Luminous Love - Lurlene McDaniel. 2013. The Year of Chasing Dreams - Lurlene McDaniel. 2014.
The library didn't have Girl With the Broken Heart, but it did have a fat duology featuring similar elements of horses + tragic illness, and a trio of friends that called to mind Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants.
The Pull of Gravity - Gae Polisner. 2011. I was looking for quality male friendships, but the male/female friendship + road trip in this search result sounded like I could cast them as teen versions of Survivor contestants. I forget which ones.
How I heard of it: Googling
The Summer of Jordi Perez (and the Best Burger in Los Angeles) - Amy Spalding. 2018. Established quality author + bright cover, cool title, burger quest, MC's love of fashion and job in a clothing store, and summer in L.A. setting

How I heard of it: Googling

How I heard of it: library
Rules of the Road - Joan Bauer. 1998. Best Foot Forward - Joan Bauer. 2006. Bought the first super-cheap a while ago because of the cover/road trip aspect/fascinating first few pages; read NOW to keep the Bauer train rolling, followed immediately by its sequel.
How I heard of it: Goodwill/Goodreads
Now Is Everything - Amy Giles. 2017. Interesting format, sympathetic-sounding main character (edit: What Makes You Beautiful - Ha Ha Ha version.mp3), potential for a sweet and protective romance.
How I heard of it: library
Radical - E.M. Kokie. 2016. Survivalist/prepper teen?  Intriguing and underrepresented concept in YA.
How I heard of it: library
Hit the Road - Caroline B. Cooney. 2006. “It's spring, which means it's time to think about road trips.” Plus I just read a fun teen + old lady on the road book (Rules of the Road). It's thematic.

How I heard of it: Goodreads
Wired Man and Other Freaks of Nature - Sashi Kaufman. 2016. People in the Goodreads reviews were mad that the guys were so close yet not gay for each other. That's the very specific male friendship wheelhouse I've been looking for! Plus I know this author can write teen boys in a way I can tolerate.
How I heard of it: Goodreads
Field Notes on Love - Jennifer E. Smith. 2019. Needed an audiobook and this was on display at the library; it looked cute and fluffy and I was ready for an antidote to the Dessen book.
How I heard of it: library

How I heard of it: another book
Up In Seth's Room - Norma Fox Mazer. 1979 There was an essay about this in Lost Masterworks too. I had read it a long time ago and remembered NOT liking it, but figured I might as well revisit it to review on Goodreads.
How I heard of it: library
Blizzard's Wake - Phyllis Reynolds Naylor. 2002. Happened to be on the shelf when I checked to see what non-Alice books of hers the library had in stock, and figured as long I'm on a Naylor kick, this might as well happen. Mainly ‘cause I saw "deadly blizzard" on the back and was like "WOW this seems useful for my hurt/comfort scenario stockpile."
How I heard of it: library
A Whole New World - Liz Braswell. 2015. Seeing the new Aladdin trailer blew up my heart with FEELINGS for the original, so I went looking for a YA retelling. Can't believe I found an actual Disney-based retelling.

“After the disappointment of the Andrew Garfield-led Amazing Spider-Man movies, everyone’s favorite wallcrawler has been having a renaissance. Entering the Marvel cinematic universe in 2016's Captain America: Civil War, the webslinger fully redeemed himself with well-crafted live-action film in Spider-Man: Homecoming.”
Yes...okay...that was definitely what Homecoming was....
“and a wildly successful spin-off film Venom, ”
 I mean financially successful sure...
“In the midst of all his success, Spider-Man has quietly become one of the most inclusive and socially conscious superheroes of today.”
*raises eyebrow*
 Okay...go on...
“Last week, it was announced that Spider-Man: Far From Home would feature two out transgender actors playing trans characters, the first big-budget superhero film to do so. Spider-Man: Homecoming also featured a queer character, as well as numerous people of color.”
Wait who was the queer character in Homecoming?
“It’s also worth mentioning that Spiderverse included a Jewish version of Peter Parker, who is typically portrayed as either secular or Christian.”
 ....ehhhhhhhhh....yes and no.
In media adaptations barring maybe one (the 1994 show cos I do not remember where he got married) Spider-Man is portrayed as...I guess secular but really it’s more that they just don’t say anything.
It’s not that the character is not a believer in a faith per se, especially if you go by older adaptations during times when hardly anyone was secular. It’s just that they, understandably, aren’t saying anything.
In the comics Peter is some kind of Christian but probably a Protestant (unless you go by Amazing Grace where he is an atheist but that’s hot trash we don’t talk about) but we don’t really talk about it that specifically.
We just know that he and his family celebrate Christmas and very, very occasionally Aunt May references going to church and that she, Peter and MJ believe in a monothetistic deity they refer to as ‘God’.
And really apart from the Church thing there is no clue to Peter’s religion and Marvel probably (wisely) would rather keep it that way. He even got married in a civil ceremony!
However in the SUBTEXT...he’s Jewish. And it’s basically an open secret that he is and always has been Jewish.
“The Spider-Man video game also featured a wonderful easter egg for queer fans by having a giant rainbow flag, as well as several smaller ones, scattered around the game’s fictionalized New York City map. ”
I mean that’s wonderful but I wouldn’t call that an Easter Egg so much as...it’s just what you’d find in modern NYC.
“Even the Venom film got in on the fun, with fans shipping Tom Hardy’s Eddie Brock and the titular male alien-symbiote after the two kissed in the film. Sony even encouraged the pairing, releasing a romantic comedy-esque trailer for the film to promote the home release. While some complained of queer-baiting, most felt that it was all in good fun and included queer people in on the joke, instead of making us the target.”
Again, good for them but I don’t think that was the movie actively trying to be positive towards queer people.
Brock and Venom kissed when Venom was bonded to Brock’s ex-fiance and had a pronounced female form, being an adaptation of a character literally called She-Venom.
And it was based upon a script written in the 1990s so really it was more the movie did it and then people took it as a thing that was shipping Venom and Brock (even though Venom is sexless). Brock and the symbiote have been shipped numerous times in the comics but the subtext has always been that the symbiote, if any sex, is female. In the Spec cartoon it is referred to as Symbi (a pun on Cyndi) and in the Spider-Girl comics it is marked out as female (granted this happens after it’s bonded to a woman).
And again, headcanon away but like...that probably wasn’t intentional at all Sony were just being goofy or unintionally made something people took a certain way.
“Indeed, even in the comics, Spider-Man has always been a fairly inclusive hero. Miles Morales was introduced in the early-2000s, taking over the mantel from Peter Parker for several years. ”
Okay, this is so weird for me to be correcting such a praising point but lets really look at this.
First of all Miles didn’t take over Peter’s role for several years he did it permanently.
Second of all Miles is from 2011 so that’s not the early 2000s, that’s the early 2010s, but okay maybe that was a typo.
Third of all, is it really all that logical to say this franchise that began in 1962 has always been fairly inclusive and then cite a character from 2011 as proof of this? Wouldn’t examples from during the FIRST quarter century have been more apt?
Fourth of all...eh. Has Spider-Man been fairly inclusive from the start? Yes, no, its complicated.
Look there were exactly 0 LGBTQ+ characters in Spider-Man until maybe the 1990s and even then I couldn’t off my head tell you who they were. Felicia Hardy is bisexual but we didn’t find out until the 2000s and it was most prominent in an AU. Really the most significant LGBTQ+ character who’s had the fact that they are queer be more than a one off reference was Max Modell and he debuted 2011 and IIRC wasn’t established as queer until 2012. In defence of Spider-Man the Comics Code literally FORBID any character be anything other than straight until the 1990s and even then it was relatively rare, even in X-Men which you’d think it wouldn’t be.
If we’re talking POC again this one is a bit complicated Glori Grant, Joe Robertson, Randy Robertson are frequently appearing POC characters but not in every run and they aren’t usually as prominent as like Jameson, Aunt May, Harry Osborn, MJ, etc. Characters of other ethnicities are even less frequent and I don’t even know what we should make of Puma/Thomas Fireheart. I mean A for effort, they wanted a Native American character who wasn’t really a villain and wasn’t exactly a sterotype so there is that I guess.
Again though...most other Marvel franchises decade by decade weren’t much better with this and we should give credit where credit is due to the same guy who created Black Panther writing a nuanced scene where 2 black people in the 60s separated by age discuss different approaches to civil rights with neither being proven right or wrong.
When it comes to disabled people, outside of evil insane villains, forget it, there is nothing before Flash Thompson in 2008 unless you count Aunt May’s chronically poor health.
“Spider-Gwen quickly became one of the highest-selling female superhero comics. Spider-Woman was a prominently featured bisexual character, and the female Asian-American hero Silk also had LGBT supporting characters, Rafferty and Lola, who were in a healthy relationship. Additionally, many view vampire villain Morbius, who is getting a spin-off film starring Jared Leto next year, as a metaphor for those suffering during the HIV crisis of the '80s. ”
Again...Spider-Gwen and Silk are 2010s characters so that’s not ‘always fairly inclusive’.
I don’t even know if Jessica Drew is bisexual, I’ve never heard that but I don’t think she is.
Morbius as a metaphor for HIV...MIGHT be true if we are specifically talking about his 1990s solo-book which I’ve never read. But the character as originally created 100% was never about that because he was created in the 1970s before HIV was known about.
“Unlike his Marvel counterparts Thor, Iron Man and Captain America, Spider-Man’s world has accurately reflected real world diversity for years.”
 ....Not really.
I’m not even saying Spidey maybe haven’t been comparatively better at it than those guys but he’s deffo not been accurate.
Plus to be fair to the other guys, Captain America and Iron Man have had at least one major black supporting cast member and in Cap’s case he was fairly candid about social strife and issues.
And with Thor it’s not that fair to throw shade at him for not reflecting the real world given that 90% of this characters and stories are literally pulled from fantasy and myth. I don’t even know if there are any queer figures in Norse myth let alone poc.
“While it’s a seemingly simple idea that any of us can be a superhero, it’s sadly still a radical concept in a endlessly growing film genre that has predominetly centers straight cisgender white men. ”
Well that’s mostly because the comics the movies adapt are about those types of people.
“That is because relatability and inclusion has always been core to Spider-Man’s appeal and message. It’s why the late Stan Lee decided that, unlike other superheroes who expose parts of their faces, Spider-Man had to wear a full-face mask.”
Stan Lee only speculated that that was part of Spider-Man’s appeal, he never had any input on that design choice it was all Steve Ditko...who frankly was unlikely to have been thinking about that...
“Even further, Spider-Man isn’t the king of a country, a billionaire, a woman out of a Greek myth, or a brilliant scientist. He’s just an average high-school kid from Brooklyn who always strives to do the right thing even while struggling to balance his everyday life and hiding a secret identity.”
WHOA there buddy...Spider-Man isn’t routinely ‘a kid’ nor is he from Brooklyn.
MILES is from Brooklyn but Peter, as evidenced by that great big caption in Captain America: Civil War, is from QUEENS.
“And it’s the idea of balancing a secret identity with everyday life that has always allowed Spider-Man to connect with queer audiences long before comic writers were allowed to explicitly include LGBT characters.”
...I’m not denying this necesarrilly but whilst i’ve heard stories from poc who connected with Spider-Man I’ve never heard this about LGBTQ+ fans of Spider-Man.
“Indeed, perhaps the strongest part of Spider-Man’s inclusivity is the subtlety to which it has been done. While Black Panther, Black Lightning, and Wonder Woman rightly put issues of identity front and center, Spider-Man’s quiet diversity allows audiences who typically cry “SJWs are ruining my favorite characters” to actually see diversity showcased without it being overt.”
Errrrrrr...sure....*represses memories of when Miles Morales was first announced*
Lets um...wait and see what happens when those trans characters show up in the movie this year okay.

Note
MMMMM gonna be THAT person and ask alllll the questions for the quizzy as companion meme for whomever you desire :D
:0! under a read more for obvious reasons ljlkjlkjlkjkj
1, 8, and 9 answered here
2. How would they meet the Inquisitor? depends on how they came to the inquisition! if he came with idrilla, and honestly that means linayel too, then he would meet the quizzy upon arrival to skyhold, having sent word of their visit beforehand [though not too far before]. if by himself he would just show up and request audience with them -making himself available as an agent.
3. What would some of their cutscenes look like?!! his haven cutscene -if triggered with appropriate approval- would be in the woods outside the main settlement, he’d take the quizzy out into the quiet snow and share some dalish mead with them and offer conversation if they would like it and silence if they don’t. at the end he’ll tell them they were looking overwhelmed and taking a step back to breathe always aides with that.a high approval quizzy can get a cutscene at skyhold in the garden: da’ean tending plants until he notices quizzy walking over, at which point he’ll ask if quizzy has ever tended plants before and will offer to show them what he’s been growing.
4. What would their romance route look like? Would they be romancable?ever a quiet romantic da’ean is
5. If they romanced someone as Inquisitor, would they still fall for that person as a companion? How would that play out? How would they react to that person being romanced by the “new” Inquisitor?yes! so da’ean romances dorian and the iron bull in my canon, and depending on the quizzy he would romance an unromanced bull or dorian or both still. their relationship is pretty solid, though with da’ean as a companion there would be a few changes to their dynamic mostly in terms of da’ean doesn’t have to deal with the trauma of being quizzy lkjkljklj if either of them are romanced by the quizzy he’d approve so long as quizzy treats them well!
6. Write some of their party banter (in reaction to major events, scenery dialogue, or just shitting around. Askers can specify for which character/event, or leave it up to the writer).this honestly deserves a post of its own so like, i’ll do that.... later.....
7. What would be on their tombstone in the fade (what is their greatest fear)?da’ean’s tombstone read: Silenced and Forgotten
10. If Inquisition operated like DA:O, what would their gift items be? What would their approval and disapproval Feast Day items be?:o i don’t have the feast day dlc so i’ll skip that since i don’t have a base of ref for it lmao. his regular gift items would be flowers, dalish artifacts, and books. the two which would trigger cutscenes would be a small halla charm -a high approval quizzy would learn here about his sister, and an ancient looking book written in a mix of elvhen and arcaic tevene -da’ean would excitedly talk about it and with dorian’s help translate the book revealing it to be a dalish songbook.
11. How would they grow as a person? How would they compare at the end of the Inquisition as a companion to who they were as the Inquisitor?at the beginning da’ean is more reserved and less likely to actively engage with the quizzy, as he gets more comfortable and gets to know the quizzy he’ll open up quite drastically. in terms of character growth da’ean goes from someone who is still tied to the past and doesn’t look to the future into someone who actively makes the future the best it can be for himself and those he cares about -effectively taking his head out of his ass and learning to cope healthily with the past.
12. Do they believe the Herald of Andraste is really the Herald of Andraste?absolutely the fuck not. if the quizzy is also dalish there would be dialogue between them for how da’ean believes the quizzy is sent by mythal but otherwise no he doesn’t believe in the maker one whit, and andraste isn’t exactly in his good graces.
13. If the Herald didn’t have them tag along to prep the trebuchets, what would they do during the battle for Haven? (bonus: would they join in on the impromptu Dawn Will Come choir practice in the camp?)da’ean would organize the younger members of the inquisition and ensure they make it out of haven safely. and lmao he has a lovely singing voice but a chantry song will never fall from his lips
14. What nickname does Varric give them?songbird. which da’ean finds hilarious since his name means little bird
15. Without the influence of their decisions for the Inquisition, which of the companions do they get along with? Which ones do they bicker with?da’ean gets along well with bull and dorian [duh] and sera the best, though he is also friends with viv and solas and varric! he bickers the most with solas and cass.
16. What would the Fear Demon say to them in the Fade to try and discourage them?I HAVE. DIALOGUE I WROTE AGES AGO.... FROM MY LONGFIC SO I’M GONNA REDUCE, REUSE, RECYCLE THAT SHIT
“You’ll fail the Inquisition just like you failed your sister.” The silken voice of the Nightmare sent shivers running up Da’ean’s spine. He couldn’t explain the sense of wrong the voice gave him, even as the words it spoke wriggled their way into Da’ean’s thoughts like worms. The lie based on truth; how many times had he told himself it was his fault before, how many nights had he spent in fear of his own incompetence and inability to protect those he cared about. How long must he carry this guilt, a month ago he would have thought he would never be free of it. Helpless to his terror.
Now; as he saw the snarl on Dorian’s lips, the hard glint in Bull’s eye, the outrage pouring out from Solas’s entire body, he knew, he knew it was not through any fault of his own. His soiled past was not something he could change, but right here, right now, he could move on. He could chose to leave everything that burdened him in the hands of those who came with him. He could ease the burdens they carried without fear of making things worse.“Doubt me all you want, but you know the truth. It’s your fault the slavers caught her, and it will be your fault when Corypheus captures the world.” The Nightmare must be feeling desperate, it had already gone after Hawke and Stroud, and now it was focusing solely on Da’ean. The breath-warm air and disorienting light was causing him enough problems, but if the Nightmare grew bored of him, he would move on to his next target.
“If you think those are new thoughts Nightmare, you are dead wrong.” They were close, they had to be close to the rift. If Da’ean could hold his attention until they could flee, the rest of the part wouldn’t have to deal with it.“I’ve accepted my mistakes, I know what I’ve done.” The hard knot of old anxiety in Da’ean’s chest was gradually unravelling; his newfound beliefs, hard won and solid, slowing taking its place. “I am stronger for knowing myself, what about you Nightmare? What have you done that you regret, what things haunt your dreams?”
maker that’s old but i’m not gonna edit it bc i’m lazy and its late lkjljlkjklj
17. Where do they hang out in the Winter Palace? What’s their thoughts on the nobles/The Game?he’d be out on the open. area. thing??? where dorian is stan-THE COURTYARD, he’d be chillin in the courtyard. da’ean couldn’t give a nug’s ass about the nobles or the game and will show some harsh contempt for those in the palace with their noses in the air around him like he’s not even there.
18. What’s their reaction to a dragon showing up?“fuck this but also fuck this” and high fives bull
19. Once Corypheus is beaten, what do they do during the party? Do they stay with the Inquisition, or go somewhere else? What could the Inquisitor do to convince them to stay?during the party he’d be talking/drinking with sera and after the inquisition depends on his romance options. if he romanced dorian he’d follow him to tevinter bc Fuck You Bioware eat my entire ass to make sure he’s safe and to chill in the background since there’s no going back home. if he romanced bull or bull and dorian he would travel with the chargers as the newest member to the crew. a high approval quizzy could convince them to stay only if romanced
20. How do they react to learning abominations can retain their consciousness and identity, and even live peacefully with their spirits/demons, as seen in Stone-Bear Hold?psst. pssssssst... the dalish already know and you can take that hc from my cold dead hands.... BUT he’d be excited to see it recognized and would want to talk with the augur extensively
21. What do they think of the discoveries made in the Deep Roads? Do they make any comments on anything?Buck Fuckin Wild is da’ean’s take on the deep roads. he doesn’t like the claustrophobic feel they give him, he does have Some Thoughts on the titans and talks about them with idrilla.
22. If you have another Inquisitor, how would those two get along, specifically?UUUHHHHH i have his older sister idrilla who isn’t a quizzy normally but in an au she might have been the quizzy and they get along great!
23. In trespasser, what “gift” would they give the Inquisitor, if any?a halla charm! one linayel carved for just this purpose and it’s threaded on a strip of leather.
24. What are their plans for after the Exalted Council? Will the Inquisition staying in tact or being disbanded make a difference?he goes back to doing what he was doing before it, it doesn’t change much unless he was romanced and then its dependant on player choice
25. In the alternate reality, if they were corrupted with lyrium, how do they act? What’s their attitude about the end of the world/their inevitable death? oh fuck da’ean would fall deeper into depression, lose all sense of time/meaning and he would just end up with total and complete apathy

Bucky bares his teeth. All of them. Even Steve finds it unsettling. “I will devour him.”
“No!” Steve waves a finger under Bucky’s nose. “No eating people, remember.”
“Rule number one,” Bucky grumbles. “No eating humans, or human-like things.” He gives Steve a sullen glare. “I will rend his foul tongue from his worthless form.”

Salt by littleblackfox ( @thelittleblackfox)
The cinnamon roll is gone in four bites. Four indecent, jaw-unhinging bites, and Steve sucks the last traces of lemon and icing from his fingers with a low, throaty sound of satisfaction. He glances up at Bucky, who is leaning against the counter and watching him with avid fascination. “Um…” Steve says around his index finger. There’s still a little icing on the bed of his fingernail, and he stops trying to work it off with his tongue. “You know those movies where the girl eats an eclair or something, and it’s really, like, sexually charged?” Bucky asks. Steve pulls his finger out of his mouth. He’s never seen that kind of movie, but the thought of Bucky eating an eclair is certainly… well, it lingers. “Uh?” “Yeah, well that was the exact opposite.” Steve scowls, and Bucky cackles gleefully. “You are something else, Steve.”
[Mature] [12,059 Words] [Read on AO3 here]
Bleached Bones and Fallen Snow by leveragehunters (Monkeygreen) ( @leveragehunters)
When he chose to become Death he wasn't sure exactly what it would mean. He didn't realise he'd end up leaving humanity behind completely, forgetting all the ways he used to be human.
Forgetting, that was, until in the middle of a war, his power spreading itself like wings over the battlefields, he discovered one particular human it was impossible to stay away from.  Brave, fascinating, irresistible: again and again, he kept coming back to Bucky. Bucky, who was never afraid of him, who seemed content to walk in Death's shadow.
If he'd known where it would lead him, where it would lead both of them, he would have tried harder to resist.

And the Greatest of These by leveragehunters (Monkeygreen) ( @leveragehunters)

Even if someone seems dead, that doesn't mean they are. If it takes Death's intervention before that's believed, then that's what it takes, even if Death has to slip between worlds to do it.

Not Egg-sactly What You Wished For by leveragehunters (Monkeygreen) ( @leveragehunters)
"How did you end up with a dragon?" Bucky asked, but he was already kneeling beside Steve, touching gentle fingers to the dragon's side, the glow of golden magic washing over the red-tinted scales as it tried to fix what was broken. The dragon sighed with relief, lying less like an overcooked noodle in Steve's arms.
"It just appeared at the window."
 "And you let her in?"
 "Her?"
 "Her," Bucky confirmed.
"Yeah, Bucky. She needed help. I wasn't gonna leave her out there."
Suddenly the dragon heaved herself over, long neck curved, sides rippling, red intensifying until it was almost glowing, there was a moment of strain, the dragon's body tense as steel cable, and then there was an egg in Steve's lap.

The Devil's Acre by littleblackfox ( @thelittleblackfox)
“I’m sorry, you want me to what?” Steve sits back in his chair and tries not to glare at Hill across the conference table. “Track down a cryptid.” Agent Hill repeats, tossing a dossier onto the table. Steve has to stretch out an arm to reach across for it. “A cryptid,” Steve repeats doubtfully.

The artist and his coffee shop muse by Little_Lottie (tfwatson) ( @little-lottie)
“Umm…” Steve glances up to find the waiter standing there with a smirk and a raised eyebrow looking expectant and arguably more delicious than the pastry. “I didn’t order this."   “No,” the man says through a huff of laughter. “But technically, you didn’t order the coffee either.”
"Huh?"
Opposite him, the man slides into the booth, light bouncing off his shirt and drenching his eyes with even more blue.
Steve’s eyes dart left and right, looking for whatever it is he’s missed.
[Teen And Up Audiences] [3,622 Words] [Read on AO3 here]
Blame the fluffy wolf onesie by Little_Lottie (tfwatson) ( @little-lottie)
“Is that a…” Steve continues slowly, blinking as though he must be seeing things “…a onesie?”
The book’s covering half of Bucky’s face but it does nothing to muffle his amused snigger. Steve’s brow is furrowed in adorably intense confusion, and he actually sounds offended by the whole situation.
Bucky lets Steve see his smirk, because it is indeed, a onesie. And Bucky is positively wrapped up in the thing, fingers curling fondly around the cuffs to relish the softness.
For the prompt: Bucky in a onesie and fluffy fluff with a side of smut
[Mature] [1,846 Words] [Read on AO3 here]

my main issue with Allura and Lotor knowing each other pre-empire is that when they learn about Lotor's [modern] existence they don't... mention anything? i feel like the alteans are getting closer to the paladins and more willing to mention those old wounds, i think it's odd that they wouldn't be like "oh yeah zarkon had a son back then, we were pretty good friends, I wonder if he's still alive too" or like when they actually hear Lotor's name (part 1/2)
(part 2/2) like, i can see it not coming up with just "oh zarkon 'has' a son w/e" but if they actually knew Lotor, then why don't they react to hearing his name? i guess i could see it if he went by a different name back then? i know pre-season 4 you had at least one theory that he had been named Sincline back then, but now the comet ships are officially sincline... maybe he named them Sincline to honor the name that was taken from him or something? (oh heck this needs a part 3)
(surprise part 3!) i guess i just want to hear if you have any ideas on how to reconcile the theory him being close to Allura in the past with the canon on how little she reacts to his existence (at least on the level of "oh dang my childhood friend is alive and an enemy"), cuz i really like this theory, but i'm having a hard time... accepting it (?) as more than a really neat AU
So I have a couple of thoughts on this.
My personal inclination here is I think there’s a distinction between “the character doesn’t mention the thing because there isn’t much to say” and “the writers seem to be avoiding giving the character time to talk about the thing because they have too much to say and the writers don’t want them giving it away early” and to me Allura’s behavior smacks of the latter.
The thing about Lotor is he’s pretty well-established in the present, but he knows too much about the past to have not been there. The exile, which Haggar calls a “long absence”, happened on a timeline that Throk, a modern presence, knew about- Throk saw Lotor before the exile and recognized his face and hair- not his adult stature or personal armor.
So I think what this tells me is that the first reason why Lotor would be omitted from s3e7. Because s3e7 was about the paladins of old, their dissolution, politics and rivalry and mostly about Zarkon, Alfor, and Honerva.
Allura barely appears even though we know she was a teenager by the time Altea was destroyed, even though we know Alfor took a walk with her every day (s1e9) and she was a huge part of his life at the time. Because Allura wasn’t influencing those politics, she wasn’t personally entangled in the rift and Honerva’s research, so we didn’t see her.
If Lotor was younger than Allura by a big enough stretch that he could have a “long absence” in the presence and seemingly grow up during that time? He would’ve been even further from the policy and grudge that made all this happen. He would’ve been so young that people could’ve very well tried to shield him from what was going on.
It’s also very unlikely that Zarkon, with his rigid standards of who is worth speaking to, and Honerva who was increasingly consumed by her research, would spend a whole lot of time with their son, exemplified when the face Lotor puts on towards Zarkon is someone who begs for his father to even acknowledge him, or allow him the dignity of existing in the same space for longer than it takes for Zarkon to dismiss him. Of course Lotor wouldn’t show up in a flashback focused on Zarkon- because it’s very likely that Zarkon’s refusal to let Lotor stay close to him is an old problem that’s gotten worse.
The staff of the show, when asked about where Lotor was during the flashback, made jokes about boarding school and then said that because of differing standards, Zarkon wouldn’t likely just go show Alfor his baby the way Alfor does Allura.
We also didn’t hear or see Allura’s perspective, at all, through that flashback. The story was told by Coran, and recalled by Haggar using Zarkon’s memories. Those three people are our framing viewpoints. We even see relatively little of Altea.
When the team is first confronted by Lotor, Allura is not at the front lines until the very last minute and as soon as she takes the field, since she’s flying the last Lion Lotor was looking for, he withdraws. Because of this, they never interact. As soon as Keith points out now they know Zarkon has a son, Allura looks away from him and says “Yes. That is.... disturbing,” in a tone that would suggest she has a pretty heavy heart.
S3e3 also spends the entire time with Lotor only using neutral pronouns for the paladins, because he has no idea who’s flying what Lions- his chase and pursuit of Allura is done anonymously. She knows it’s the same Lotor that attacked them, but he has no idea who he’s hunting- just “a paladin” who he targeted because their handling of the Lion was shaky.
So I think there’s a few reasons Allura would actually choose not to mention her history with Lotor because of them being close, rather than in spite of it:
We can gather that Lotor’s changed a lot. He’s aged significantly while Allura hasn’t (seemingly having been thawed out much earlier), so someone she might have thought of as a much younger brother is suddenly her age, from her perspective. Everyone else she knew closely- Coran, Alfor’s AI- stayed the same, not counting Zarkon and Haggar, the latter of whom she didn’t even recognize at first.
That would send a really deeply alarming precedent. Because again, the two people Allura knew that changed a lot both became awful cruel people in that time. Someone she once would’ve thought of as practically her uncle impassively stood there and let Haggar strangle her, and then decided to use her as bait to get at Voltron.
Because of that, the last thing Allura would want to do is talk about her childhood friend foster brother when- she isn’t even sure if this is the same Lotor, and if he is, then the view of her he had would suggest that he went exactly the same way as his parents. We as an audience know that he’s challenging imperial policy, that he’s dealing with grief, that he hates what the empire’s become and is trying to fight his parents rather than become like them- but those aren’t humanizing glimpses Allura’s been privy to. She just knows Lotor who waltzes in, declares himself happily taking up Zarkon’s mantle, and attacks Voltron in the name of the empire.
This paints a terrifying picture, and Allura being Allura, the way she tends to try and bottle her feelings to embody an ‘image of strength’, she would probably try to dissociate the Lotor she knew from the Lotor she’s fighting. Her friend isn’t in there any more. It’s less painful to tell herself that- the way we see Coran saying that Honerva and Zarkon were poisoned, enthralled, controlled by the rift rather than that some of Alfor’s closest friends had this kind of venom in them all along.
It’s less painful for Allura to believe that someone she might’ve thought as her dearest friend could grow up bitter and calculating and fighting with this kind of every-man-for-himself tactics; and again, she hasn’t seen what we have, that Lotor isn’t like that.
And there’s not really any immediate tactical hazard that would warrant breaking that silence, like Zarkon’s connection to the Black Lion. It isn’t as if Lotor could use their old connection to suddenly control her mind mid-battle. Again, with how Lotor’s hidden himself from the paladins, Allura can’t even be sure it’s the Lotor she used to know.
As of s3e6 they didn’t recognize the Generals, who the people of Puig would’ve seen, which suggests either they didn’t go back and question them on what happened, or Narti took the time to obscure those memories the way she did Throk to prevent the paladins from having any information on them to work with.
So all Allura really has is a nagging, awful feeling that maybe someone else besides Honerva and Zarkon betrayed Altea. Especially because Lotor seems to have been tied somehow to the arrival of the second comet, how he knew about it- and Allura had no idea the second comet even existed, so she wouldn’t even have Alfor as the likely party to have tried to protect Lotor.
Of course going the other way? There’s the fact that even to his trusted generals, Lotor didn’t come back to Daibazaal himself until he had absolutely no other options and when he did, he looked at it like this:
Tumblr media
The way the folds are under his eyes makes him look like he’s trying not to cry, and this is something that’s been a thing for a while; it’s old news, but much like Allura, he’s got a lot of trauma that he’s trying to shoulder silently. I think one of the writers actually explicitly described Lotor as someone dealing with a lot of things he doesn’t want to talk about.
Which is... incidentally... behavior that’s ridiculously similar to Allura’s.
Much like the last thing Allura wants to do is dig up fond memories of a childhood friend in a context where said person may well be attacking her now and she has to grit her teeth and fight- Lotor couldn’t exactly leave the paladins alone at first. He needed the comet, Voltron was the only thing that could get it, none of them would let him go “hey incidentally can I borrow the Lions for a sec” and getting caught negotiating with the paladins would get him put on Zarkon’s kill list before he had any means to survive that.
And then, as soon as he can? As soon as he has the comet, he disengages entirely. He bolts in the opposite direction and refuses to fight the paladins or attack planets even to forestall Haggar’s suspicion, when, even though he doesn’t like the empire, he could easily claim to be Conquering In The Name Of Galra and use that as an excuse to build new allies. Throk implies he’s done it before in s3e1.
But he doesn’t. The one time Lotor attacked a planet was knowing that Voltron was going to retaliate as soon as he did. And he makes an excuse that they’re not tactically valuable but we see in s4e5 that they are valuable in the sense of giving the coalition a foothold and Lotor’s too smart not to know that.
So I think it says something that Voltron is Lotor’s last resort even though morally he seems much more on their wavelength than he ever was on the empire’s.
The big thing I think it comes down to is just: these people are traumatized in a very similar way and responding to their trauma in very similar ways, and both of them, we see, with other topics, they tend to respond by avoiding it. Trying not to admit it’s there.

Summary: The ‘Hell on Earth’ Task Agency is a project run by the Underworld offices in hopes of integrating localised haunting and corruption on earth by assigning Demons a human identity in order to get closer to their victims- err…persons of interests, thus creating a more sustainable and longlasting reign of chaos over mankind.
Alfred and his brother had been assigned to this new department of hell after a small disagreement with his higher-ups. Now tasked with pushing a Japanese businessman to screw over a major tech company and overall commit a huge betrayal to the human’s friend, Alfred discovered humans are more complex than just souls ready to commit sins.
“Hah, The landlord tried to flirt with me.” the door behind him slammed, pushing into the room he flopped onto their new blood red couch, “She even called me ‘devilishly handsome’! If she only knew.” His company who was busy fixing up their new home let out a chuckle himself. It seems to be that people of late, have severely forgotten that the power of seduction was genuinely a tool of the devil; which by all means is an incredibly worrying thing to forget. Of course, the lowest setting a demon could maintain was a great amount of attraction that he could naturally elicit from any passing victim - Alfred, being the good rascal he was, tried not to draw too much attention to his otherworldly skill, or at least attempt to not use it to sway over his new human companions. Now that he thought about it, Matthew could have made it easier for the both of them if he had just flirted with the real estate agent…but of course his twin’s attempt to ‘get used to mankind’ got in the way of easy living, as if creatures like them could be apart of this whole ‘humanity’ thing.
It just didn’t make sense to have demons residing on Earth.
Not that he wasn’t used to earth, he had been overloaded with useless duties and tasks of tricking people into convoluted sins before, however whispering into a teen’s ear to lie or persuading a priest to lust was entirely different to actually interacting with their former victims. There would no longer be any more retreats back to the underworld.
“Why the FUCK did we agree to this again?” he groaned out to his fellow being who had been mulling over their belongings. Matthew had sighed, answering uninterested as he unpacked a cardboard box which had bluntly been labelled ‘Ritual Candles’. “ I didn’t agree to anything. You got us stuck up here. If you hadn’t complained about our last assign-” Alfred whined once more, his new body heaved in a grumpy manner. Ruffling his new golden locks of hair he lamented his past decision regrettably.
He didn’t mean he found things boring, he had only complained to Arthur that hovering around unemployed youths and deranged psychopaths was…too easy. His brother and himself were young demons capable of changing the world, of creating more chaos! And his complaints absolutely did not mean transfer the duo to the Hell on Earth Task Agency (HETA for short). The green-eyed devil who had been their handlers decided that this ‘small complaint’ of his deserved unfair treatment - a sentence to a 200 year assignment based in the worst conditions: Living among man and playing pretend human to conduct more research into integration programs. Recently the underworld has become open to the idea of placing task forces onto earth long term in order to proceed with mischief in a localised constant area - HETA was notorious for making talented demons die of overwork as it seemed that to create long-term issues through small factors was apparently harder than people thought.
One thing that was strange about working with HETA was they weren’t allowed to use cloaking anymore and instead were given human forms to fit in - no one would trust horned winged monsters if they saw one anyway. It was fitting that he and Matthew looked similar, ‘twins’ even in these bodies, but the differences were more prominent in the new forms - while he had been clad in a bomber jacket the other was given a red hoodie, his brother was given a pretty shade of strawberry-blonde hair while his shone like gold in light, both charming in their own ways. Honestly, Alfred felt guilty as he had dragged his brother into this mess and could hear the clear disgruntled murmurs of ‘I miss my wings’ or ‘Fuckin-why did they give us glasses?’ but they had always been a duo. It didn’t make sense for them to be split up so Arthur had allowed the request for both the boys to be transferred.
As if a miracle (Did God even grant miracles to demons?) Alfie had struck solid luck as his assigned victim- er ‘Research Candidate’ was a 24 yr old Japanese man destined to ruin betray his friend’s business. Sounds fun. According to the profile given, Kiku was not exactly innocent but not clearly sinful to the point where he had already been given a ticket to hell.
You Have Been Assigned to:
Name - Kiku Honda
Age - 24
Sexuality - Unconfirmed (Pending)
Summary -
Business and Tech Grad, Recently moved to America to work with his friend’s expanding company, HyperTech. Has conceived thoughts of deception and thievery via betrayal, Set to go. Quiet and reserved.
Task -
Assist Honda to claim control of HyperTech within 20 years in order to allow for corruption scandal in year 2XXX.
Alfred hummed contently, his target appeared relatively interesting, not to mention the photo of the guy was good-looking, although the report’s statement in terms of the man’s preference was a blur. That didn’t matter, sometimes if lust couldn’t convince then greed surely coaxed humans into silly games. Besides, this man was a typical businessman….yawn. Had he to follow an overzealous money muncher? Did Matthew get a better pick?
“Yo Mattie, who did Artie assign you?
Nonchalantly Matthew recalled the info from this folder: “A banker and his personal assistant. Siblings too.”
“Yikes. What’s your end goal? I’m guessing it’s not petty thievery..”
“Nah they’ve committed that already- the brother has contemplated murder, his younger sister’s also in the same boat. Apparently, it ties into your case.” Alfred looked at his brother in awe, envying how he had been given 2 targets with a higher chaos rating, way cooler than his pitiful 1 target corruption. Tutting with annoyance he got up from the woven couch and assisted his brother with unpacking their materialised goodies they had brought from the afterlife.
Mornings- contrary to popular belief- always sucked, Nevermind the fact it was an unusually bright clear New York city morning. Usually, Kiku was organised enough to leave his apartment full on a good breakfast and a mind ready to sit down over paperwork his fellow co-workers dumped on him yet today was just not vibing well with him. He wondered if he should just call in sick, deciding not to as he realised Yao would skin him alive for trying to lie (they’ve known each other long enough to tell when one is acting). Call it the ‘friday spirit’ or whatever he managed to get up. It took every ounce of motivation to roll out of bed and change into a pressed suit for an early morning meeting. Leaving his clean and immaculate apartment, The Japanese man had fumbled into the hallway with distracted disinterest over a handful of business documents. Bumping into a tall yet less than a graceful figure who had been carrying a heavy box, they had both been caught off guard.
Just as the Asian nearly fell face forward to almost crumpling his nice suit, the mystery man had grabbed him by his satchel, quickly pulling him back before he touched the hallway floor. Kiku turned to say a polite thank you, only to find what must be the biggest and goofiest grins he had ever witnessed. Introducing himself, the American man, now known as Alfred, explained he was to be a new neighbour along with his sibling and that he would expect to ‘see each other around’. Kiku hoped his monotone face and his friendly hum in reply would suffice as he was already running late. Yao was gonna kill him.
Hastily he bidded farewell to the new occupants and made his way to the elevator, dusting off his shirt and readjusting his satchel. it was only then he realised his cheeks were warm. There was something interesting about Alfred. Shaking his head, Kiku huffed and somehow got to the office with five minutes to spare. A small smile and slight of the head towards the secretary, he entered the meeting room just in time to face his childhood friend, rival(?) and boss all in one.
“ おはようございます, Yao before you interrupt me: Yes I’m later than usual. Not Late though.”*
That teasing smug face melted into an expression dipped in familiarity. The Chinese man always looks incredibly different in a western suit, as if the red tie was the only thing that reminded Kiku of Wang Yao’s Chinese heritage. Pre-meeting conversations such as plans for the weekends, or that co-worker’s new promotion bored him but his respectful nature kept the black haired male nodding, feigning interest as Yao spoke about his new intern he was mentoring. Suddenly out of nowhere someone had asked about his morning - clearly not aware of his unresponsive behaviour this morning.
“Got new neighbours. Hoping they aren’t loud, they look quite young- like those millennial types.” he answered quietly, Yao stifled a laugh before commenting on how Kiku could accidentally be mistaken as an old man if he kept describing them like that. Finally, the meeting began, along with his drifting head which was not in tune for a morning discussion.
Offhandedly, towards the end just as he was packing up to leave back to his office, the Chinese man reminded Kiku: “Don’t forget on Monday you’ve got people coming in, you need to interview them for that personal assistant job soon.” Grimacing, he did not look forward to that. He worked well alone. Looking on the bright side he considered that at least he’ll have someone else to deal with schedules and admin work, this could be a little bit of a break- It’s not like it could be that bad.
Besides, there would be hell to pay if Yao had drafted any annoyances for the job.
