Finally got around to designing Jhara's back tattoo and after watching ATSV I realized I accidentally made her a Spider-Person, whoops. Let's look at the evidence:

Accidentally acquired powers that have great responsibility: check

Spider theme and imagery: check

Climbs and swings real good: check

Animate Rope spell = web slinging: check

Dead father figures: check

Conclusion: Jhara is a spider person.

You know I think I should have realized my interest in Genshin was fading when I started writing my Genshin fic and concepting other fics for Genshin only to realize now that. I don't think any of them clawed at my insides like Twins AU or "A Tale of Vagabonds" do.

Now ofc I would have chalked it up to my hyperfixation being on Twins AU if it wasn't for my Undertale Multiverse/Outcode story, ATOV. That story also claws at my insides--not as viciously as Twins AU is rn, but when I think about it, it does.

But my Genshin fics never really. Clawed at my insides I don't think. They weren't stories so desperate to be made that I obsess over them for years. They were just kind of fun projects to think about.

Idk. Maybe that'll change if my fixation for Genshin comes back but it's so dead rn that it's hard to imagine myself ever feeling that raking, clawing feeling of a story desperate to be told in the back of my throat.

According to my current levels in The Legend of Heroes: A Tear of Vermillion vs. the levels in my old file that reached the final boss, I am about 3/4 of the way through the game. I have thoughts. Which I will put below because spoilers.

First off, I really did not recall any of the things happening that have happened since Mile died. Even the stuff that happens multiple times, such as going through the shrines and defeating the corrupted nature spirits, which has happened twice so far and we seem to be heading towards a third time.

Which, honestly, I didn't remember a lot from the first half, either. I had bits of recognition when I met some characters in the first half, but now we're not meeting as many new characters. But I seriously didn't even remember the fact that you backtrack through the entire map.

But in that backtracking, therein lies another reminder of your loss. Avin seems to mature, mostly because he has to. He has some strong people backing him up for a while, but as more and more catastrophes happen across the land, they must stay behind. Eventually there is a point where it is just Avin and Rutice.

Just Avin and Rutice, trekking across land Avin once trekked with Mile. Fighting familiar-looking but much stronger monsters. You see how far you've grown - there are monsters that are one-shot by the Spirit Magic Avin recently got - but you can also fall back on the same old familiar strategies from the beginning of the game. Rutice is, after all, a ranged attacker and healer, much like Mile. It makes the loss all the more apparent.

(Also that gameplay/story separation bit when the King's Army marches by and tells you they defeated all the monsters on the way there. There are still monsters the rest of the path in the same numbers as usual. The characters still act once you reach the destination like they didn't fight at all. What?)

I'm not even to Ourt Village yet. I remember that being emotional my first time through.

The second thing I want to ramble about is the whole book thing. I missed a couple because I didn't realize you needed to go completely out of your way to somewhere you don't need to be and talk to everyone just in case they have a book for you.

So now I'm just heading every wrong direction hoping someone tells me I'm stupid to try to go that way, because if the game lets me go, there's probably collectables in some town I have no other reason to return to.

I remember the first time playing I wanted to write down all of the book locations for reference in a future playthrough. But I know myself: I wouldn't reference it. And I like reading all the text. Which makes it all the more frustrating knowing I missed something.

These "books" are generally translated far more poorly than the rest of the game, but still. It's a frustration that I hope I remember the next time I return to this game.

And speaking of returning to this game. I'm thinking about what I want to be doing next. Right now, it'll be a while before I'll be able to return to it. The backlog right now looks like:

Finish AToV->Some non-RPG (Crash Trilogy?)->Finish Ultra Sun->Some non-RPG->Finish Octopath 1->Some non-RPG->Pokemon Game->Some non-RPG->First possible slot for The Legend of Heroes: Prophecy of the Moonlight Witch.

Which also doesn't account for new games coming out that I-need-to-play-now.

But yeah, as far as Legend of Heroes goes, I am fully intending to replay Prophecy of the Moonlight Witch and play for the first time Song of the Ocean and Trails in the Sky, both of which I have but never beat, before considering getting any of the Switch games.

I'm worried Trails in the Sky, having two sequels with similar names, will not end satisfactorily. But honestly, I play these games for the story, not the gameplay, and since I don't currently have a way to get the sequels and there's no sign that'll change anytime soon, I might as well just watch a playthrough on YouTube or something.

was rereading @athingofvikings earlier but just now when i went back to my browser (on my phone) for some reason it opened a tab with my own fanfic??? for a different fandom?????? so i was getting REALLY CONFUSED like "I don't remember Aymeric being a character in this fic???????? What just happened" And then I saw my own OC's name and realized it had switched tabs... AToV x FFXIV would be a truly wild and unexpected crossover lmao
