AtlusxP5 and their upcoming project
This is a follow-up to yesterday's post.
I have continued speaking with the person, and I believe I can now fully confirm their identity as AtlusxP5.
This person will no longer remain nameless. As they have decided to come forward, I'll share their identity.
Sunsutōn has been working hard on continuing Persona 5: Imagining Project as PERSONA / RE-IMAGINING PROJECT.
Please, follow them and show support.
This blog will continue to document Sunsutōn and Persona / Re-Imagining Project.
I want to thank Sunsutōn for taking the time to speak with me. The kindness I've been shown by them is overwhelming.

Hello there! sorry if this is a bother but do you still know anything else about atlusxp5? i've been digging as of recently
Sorry it took a bit to respond (was away on vacay). Funny you should say that, I recently looked at their channel to see if they've updated since their last teaser from 4 years ago TT0TT (spoiler: they have not)
What I know about it (from memory). Prior to P5 ever having a speck of actual confirmation on the internet, someone decided to make a fan P5 project called "Persona 5 Imagining Project/P5IP" and it was "by" AtlusxP5 (link to channel). They posted some cool songs (that aren't original, they are copyrighted, but still awesome), some character sheets (possibly on twitter? I don't know much about that side, sadly it's defunct ;w;), and trailers, and people analyzed it on the now defunct Atlus Forums/Threads
I think Atlus struck them down (or they had to priv their videos at least for a good while, and their twitter's gone so....who knows what happened tbh) and.....well.....we don't know what's up anymore. TT0TT
Thankfully, a lot was saved/salvaged by the lovely trifectamix, who has all the songs iirc as well as pics of the char sheets and threads. I highly recommend them! They did a great job preserving an amazing period piece of Persona fandom!
If you wish you had more of a fix....well good news, another fan creator (Assinine Syndrome) wanted to continue the saga. Or at least, write a fanfic-type posts about what they think would've happened. Most of the writing are in the video descriptions iirc. But they follow a similar format of existing songs (and remixing/mashing them up), and I recommend them! They finished their version of P5IP and have gone onto their own fan music list of P6 VERGS (and seem to have a P7 concept in the works).
Here's Assinine Syndrome's channel (where the meat of it all is), and here's their fanfic page, they only did like a prologue chapter to P5IP/P6V but it might still be notable to read if you're interested.
(note in case I've confused anyone: AS isn't AtlusxP5, I believe they are just a big fan of P5IP is all, but they're stuff is fun too and I recommend them).

The Original Persona 6 Imagining Project had a lot of potential and I would've still worked on it if it weren't for them trolls on Reddit. they called it a blatant copy of the P5 Imagining Project. I've stated before that P6: IP was inspired by ATLUSxP5's project, it even says it on the document. why do people have to be such a dick nowadays?
Here's a look back at some of the artwork from the original project.

Hello everyone. This is a fun mini fan album is created heavily inspired by the Persona 5 fan album made by Atlusxp5. It was a playlist that came out before persona 5 was official and envisioned what the game would potentially sound like.
This playlist has a similar concept. Its basically what a Dragalia Lost sequel would sound like if the singer MEG was used instead of Daoko. It's interesting to note that composer Yasutaka Nakata has worked with both girls and Bokura no network is composed by him. Hopefully the songs featured here will reminded you of some of the boss themes. I also added a few non Meg songs to reflect the non Daoko songs.
Feel free to make suggestions.

Reflecting back on ATLUSxP5
How often do you listen to playlists?
Not official soundtracks but rather a selection of songs to fit a certain mood or theme. Maybe you wonder what kind of music the next game in your favorite game series will have and one day you stumble upon a playlist that answers that question.
That's the scenario many persona fans found themselves in when they discovered the persona 5 imagining project by atlusxp5. The playlist in question was made a while before Persona 5 was officially announced so some fans thought it was a genuine look into what Atlus had in store for the future. There were even cryptic hints of a story hidden in long-since deleted videos. What atlusxp5's intentions were are ambiguous since they have never confirmed nor denied the several theories surrounding the project. Some people have said the playlist has inspired them to make a persona fangame but nothing came out of it. That's one thing that Danganronpa fans have over persona fans: when someone says they're gonna make a fan game, they typically follow through with it.
My memories of how exactly I stumbled upon the project are a bit fuzzy but I'm pretty sure it happened from listening to a jet set radio fan playlist. Yeah, that's right. I discovered a playlist by listening to a completely unrelated playlist. Playlistception! I've been a huge fan of the Jet Set radio soundtrack since 9th grade despite never playing the game so it's no surprise I'd want to listen to music similar to it. I literally typed in " music similar to jet set radio" on YouTube one day and was met with an evergrowing YouTube list of eclectic songs.
I hardly knew anything about persona at the time but that didn't matter. The mesmerizing psychedelic pop music had my ears completely captivated. It was easy to see why considering it was a fusion of all my favorite genres. It even introduced me to an obscure genre called Shibuya kei that deserves a post of its own.
Some of my favorite tracks include Rockin' My Way and Rising Core by the band COPTER4016882. The lyrics are jabberwocky nonsense just like the band's name but both songs have this upbeat electronic sound fused with high-tempo guitar work. They certainly fit the tone of persona 4 rather than p5. Another valuable mention is Freak by MEG, an energetic pop song that invokes the vibe of a girls' night out in the big city.
Talalala by dj deckstream has all the hallmarks of being a glorious final boss theme. It begins with a somber piano tune before shifting to a triumphant melody about preserving and overcoming hard times. The lyrics also do a good job of reflecting the themes of the persona franchise as a whole.
" Don't close your eyes, don't wave good-bye, just take a chance
And take a look inside your heart
Then you will find that down beneath there's a dream you've always had, so
Don't close your eyes, don't wave good-bye, just take a chance
And take a look inside your heart
See that therе is more to life than what you've been through before"
That isn't Deckstream's only noteworthy contribution. His cover of Tom's Diner is a chill jazzy tune that invokes the vibe of exploring the city while his Whatever cover by Oasis has a calming atmosphere that's perfect for the end of a long journey.
The p5 imagining project is a prime example of how important music curation can be. Even if the songs aren't original pieces, they still do wonders to solidify the vision crafted by the project's creator. It's intriguing how a well crafted playlist can create such a vivid image of what Persona 5 theoretically could've been. I've always envisioned p5 as an experimental psychedelic acid trip type of game. Imagine an alternate universe where Studio Shaft was a videogame developer that made a JRPG with Kunihiko Ikuhara as the director and suda51 as co-writer that combined the aesthetics of the world ends with you, the Monogatari series, punk rock dadaism, and panty and stocking. That's the kind of atmosphere atlusxp5 laid out in my mind. It's the kind of game that's sadly far too ambitious to exist in real life. Maybe. One can only dream.
For additional info, I suggest going to the Imagining Project Tumblr page and watching Youtuber Blue's video on the matter.

AtlusxP5 October 14th 2024 Twitter Update
「 development talk 」 The Persona 5 Imagining Project was never a sequel following Persona 4 It was actually a direct sequel to Persona 2: Eternal Punishment
「 development talk 」 The blue butterfly was always the puppet master It was all a false illusion from the beginning, just like this image
「 development talk 」 Lady Nyarlathotep was actually Yidhra, the Dream Witch / Mother Goddess of Earth, directly above Nyarlathotep & Philemon in power After winning a bet against Philemon, she now controls the current timeline universe of the 5th iteration - The real Persona 5
「 development talk 」 The 'Joker' was a creation by Yidhra, to mock Nyarlathotep's version of the Joker from Persona 2: Innocent Sin He was always a villain from the beginning After the events of Persona 5: Imagining Project, he was given a new identity . . .

Protagonist Concepts - Young and Middle-Aged
The first concept is Ari staring at the red butterfly.
The second one shows what Ari would look like in his 50s (it's an edit of Ryotaro Dojima from Persona 4). the original image was also edited for the Persona 5: Imagining Project by ATLUSxP5.
The face palming adult Ari design isn't final.

Does anyone remember the fake Persona 5 soundtrack that went up on Youtube a few years ago? It was so good and it's a shame it doesn't really get talked about.
