Full disclosure: I have watched BBC's The Musketeers from 2014, but that is the full extent of my Musketeers knowledge. However, when FF and Vee approached me about doing up a cover for their newest fanfic, I couldn't say no: they always write such lovely stories and a little change of scenery never hurt anyone (if we ignore the fact that Tom Burke is in both sceneries :) )

Reasons why I ship Athos x Ninon and not Athos x Sylvie

And I thought that it whas perfectly suitable for Ninon, Sylvie and Athos. So, I'm just playing with MJ's post, and will change a couple of words to adjust to The Musketeers fandom (Her stuff, my stuff). It's HER work, not mine, no copyright transgresion intended (MJ, love your blog!). By the way, the gif are not mine, either. They belong to their creators, and you can find all the originals post as I reblogged all of them :3

It’s not that I dislike Sylvie. She’s a fine girl. I just think Athos and Ninon would have made a better match, s'all.

1) Everytime Athos looks at Ninon he smiles. When he’s kissing her, fucking her, whatever, he looks so damn happy. Well, it's not that he is smileing all the time -or that they get to bed!- but he does smile to her (twice!) which it quite unusual. Have you noticed how little does Athos genuinely smiles in the series?

2) In contrast, whenever he looks at Sylvie he looks guilty. Like he’s touching something that he’s not supposed to, like he’s doing something dirty and wrong because she’s too ‘pure and innocent’ for a man like him. It took forever for Sylvie to convince him otherwise, and I don’t feel like that made their sex scene more 'special’ just more awkward. (That's SO true. Bondage? Please...)

3) Athos would not have had to change to be with Ninon ("To hell with the law"?? PLEASE!!) He likes having sex with multiple women is not the marrying kind, so is she not; he didn’t have to worry about drinking her under the table. It worked out perfectly. Ninon is already a grown up, so Athos never had to worry about acting like the 'responsible adult’ to protect her. Actually, Sylvie is like the little girl that says "I can take care of myself!" while not being able to lace her shoes. But very proudly independet she is. Ninon is all like: I don't need a man in my life, never have, never will; but I would spend the rest of my life arguing with you"

4) Nino loves Athos for who he is, not because he protected or can protect her. Ninon can protect her own damn self and doesn’t need a man for that. She fell in love with him, she’s not infatuated with him. Nothing more to say here.

5) The chemistry. Athos and Ninon just exude sex when they’re together. Even Aramis was shocked when they saw Count and Countess de la Sass together.

6) I get a total sibling vibe off Athos and Sylvie, because of the way he’s always protecting her and the way she looks up to him, so needless to say, their sex scene made me extremely uncomfortable. Well, I would say that (and this is only my view) Sylvie only started flirting with Athos so the musketeers were on the refugee's side, to make him have a reason to take part and confront the red guards.

7) The PAIN on Athos' face when they kiss for the last time. Because he knows he will never see her again. That. Pain. Pains. Me. And how Ninon caresses her face just to confort him.

8) Did you notice Athos' pupils when they were walking from the morge to Nino's house? They are super dilated, like he just had some cocain or something. You know? Pupils dilate when you see the person you are in love with ;)

And well, that was all, folks! Just don't hate me because I dislike the Sylvathos thing and stuff. It's just that Athinon is so perfect to me that I just can't help it.
