Pornhub has shut down access in Texas.
Pornhub wants you to know its feelings hurt over Free Speech Coalition v. Paxton, 23-50627 (5th Cir. 2024).
CV NEWS FEED // Pornhub has ceased offering its explicit website in the state of Texas, citing the Lone Star State’s passage of a law that protects children from viewing online pornography. The Houston Chronicle reported Thursday that visitors who attempt to access Pornhub’s site from Texas “are now greeted with a long message from the company railing against the legal change as ‘ineffective, haphazard, and dangerous.’” “The company calls for age verification by the makers of devices that let people on the internet, instead of individual websites,” the Chronicle added. Pornhub wrote in its message to users: “As you may know, your elected officials in Texas are requiring us to verify your age before allowing you to access our website.”***
Oh, no. If you're a Texan who like pr0n, how will you survive?

Testify against Clinton or something?
Police said the Boeing whistleblower found dead in his car outside a South Carolina hotel last Saturday was found with a "silver handgun" and a "white piece of paper that closely resembled a note," Newsweek reported Friday. The Charleston Police Department said it was still making inquiries about John Barnett, who was discovered in a hotel car park with a single gunshot wound to the head.*** A coroner’s report said Barnett, 62, died from a "self-inflicted" wound, though a close family friend of Barnett’s told WCIV-TV,"I know he did not commit suicide." "He wasn't concerned about safety because I asked him," the friend said. "I said, 'Aren't you scared?' And he said, 'No, I ain't scared, but if anything happens to me, it's not suicide.' Colorado Prison Director is "TRAVIS TRANI?"
Colorado is poised to become the first state in the country with segregated holding cells for transgender women in prison, if a judge signs off on it. After a class action lawsuit was filed by several transgender inmates in 2019 against the Colorado Department of Corrections (CDOC) alleging discrimination, harassment and assault, a judge is scheduled to rule on a consent decree that would bring further changes – including surgical sex changes and hormone treatment – to the state's penitentiary, Fox News Digital has learned. The consent decree, a court-ordered settlement in a legal dispute, would also require all trans women currently or previously in CDOC to receive a $2.1 million payout, depending on the severity of the alleged assault, discrimination and harassment while in prison. Rewards could range from $1,000 to $10,000 per plaintiff. *** The decree would enact several changes. First, it would create two separate housing units for transgender women inmates: the "Voluntary Transgender Unit" (VTU) at the men's Sterling Correctional Facility, and the "Integration Unit" (IU) at the Denver Women’s Correctional Facility.*** Greisen told Fox News Digital the decree would also "allow the class members to transition to gender-affirming housing at the women’s facility, and ensure that necessary medical and mental health treatment will be provided." *** https://www.foxnews.com/politics/colorado-to-become-the-first-state-to-build-separate-inmate-units-for-transgender-women
Raven v. Polis, 2019CV34492 (Denver D.).
Nothing in the consent decree says transgender people won't or can't be incarcerated in women's prisons. You might be a small woman serving a sentence for a non violent crime sharing a judicially approved cell with
Keith Rivers, 46, now known as "Cupcake," is currently serving a life sentence for murdering a victim outside a tavern in 1999. According to the class action lawsuit, Rivers came out as transgender in 2004 *** Another plaintiff, Andre Karpierz, 47, who goes by "Lavinya," is also serving a life sentence without the possibility of parole for first degree murder. Karpierz is currently being held in the Denver Womens Correctional Facility, according to CDOC records.

Military aide must ‘dummy cord’ nuclear football after leaving it on Biden’s Corvette
"I guess finger sandwiches are more important than nuclear security, huh?"
Whiskey Fueled Tirade March 18, 2024 THE WHITE HOUSE – Lt. Col. Jason Schmutz will be required to ‘dummy cord’ the President’s Emergency Satchel, commonly referred to as the ‘nuclear football,’ to his body after leaving it on top of President Biden’s 1967 Corvette Stingray, sources confirmed today. “What a f*cking newb,” White House Chief of Staff Jeff Zients told the Duffel Blog. “The nuclear football sat on the hood of the President’s ‘shaggin’ wagon’ for the better part of an hour while Schmuckatelli was stuffing his face.” This is not the first time sensitive materials were left in the vicinity of the president’s sports car. In 2023, it came to light that President Biden had classified documents stored in his garage next to his Corvette.*** Sources say Schmutz was eating lunch in the West Wing when he stopped eating and looked around his seat, turned pale, and ran out of the Navy Mess. By the time he reached the President’s Corvette, a Secret Service agent had secured the nuclear briefcase and handed it over to the White House Military Office sergeant major. “Missing something, sir?”, the sergeant major asked, the briefcase sitting on his desk next to a large spool of 550 paracord. “I spoke with the Chief of Staff and he thought it might be a good idea if we made it, uhh, a bit more difficult to leave your weapon system here behind, hooah?”*** “He messed up but I think he can still recover,” Schmutz’s colonel said as he signed career-ending UCMJ paperwork for an enlisted servicemember who lost his government cell phone. “He’s a good officer and man can he run fast.” At press time, Schmutz was seen walking toward Marine One next to the President, the nuclear football tethered to his Army Green Service Uniform belt. https://www.duffelblog.com/p/military-aide-must-dummy-cord-nuclear-football-after-leaving-it-on-biden-s-corvette

An expert who has testified in foster care cases across Colorado admits her evaluations are unscientific

Diane Baird, LCSW, at her desk in Wheat Ridge. (Photo by Trent Davis Bailey for ProPublica)
Diane Baird had spent four decades evaluating the relationships of poor families with their children. But last May, in a downtown Denver conference room, with lawyers surrounding her and a court reporter transcribing, she was the one under the microscope. Baird, a social worker and professional expert witness, has routinely advocated in juvenile court cases across Colorado that foster children be adopted by or remain in the custody of their foster parents rather than being reunified with their typically lower-income birth parents or other family members. In the conference room, Baird was questioned for nine hours by a lawyer representing a birth family in a case out of rural Huerfano County, according to a recently released transcript of the deposition obtained by ProPublica. Was Baird’s method for evaluating these foster and birth families empirically tested? No, Baird answered: Her method is unpublished and unstandardized, and has remained “pretty much unchanged” since the 1980s. It doesn’t have those “standard validity and reliability things,” she admitted. “It’s not a scientific instrument,” Eli Hager reports.
If you thought social work was a science, I really must ask you to drop the crack pipe.

Aspiring drag queens have the right to Equal Protection
SHANGELA WAS A breakthrough star. With her sharp-tongued retorts, viral catchphrases, and distinctive Southern accent, the gregarious Texas drag queen quickly rose to become one of RuPaul’s Drag Race’s most beloved contestants. “[It’s] like ‘Angela’ with an ‘S-H,’” she explained on the show. “The debutantess of the Deep South.” Despite an early Season Two elimination when the queen was in her late twenties, a more polished version of the future star returned to the runway for two other installments in the show’s franchise. Drag Race fans often complain that she was robbed of the crown during her appearance on the show’s All Stars spinoff. “She’s amazing. We’ve actually put her on the show, like, three times?” RuPaul told Andy Cohen in 2022. “She’s a fabulous queen.”*** But behind the curtain — in hotel rooms and apartments — four people allege to Rolling Stone that Darius Jeremy (“DJ”) Pierce, the man behind the famous drag persona, either sexually assaulted them or attempted to have sex with them when they were too inebriated to consent. A fifth person claims Pierce attempted anal penetration in a bathroom closet despite rejecting his advances. *** Five people independently described nights out with Pierce when they were between the ages of 18 and 23. All five said that Pierce, nearly double their age and fresh off headline-grabbing spots on the silver screen and awards-show red carpets, drank with them through the late hours of the night and into the morning. The accusers all said they were acutely aware of Shangela’s celebrity status — three people said they were aspiring drag queens. *** https://www.rollingstone.com/tv-movies/tv-movie-features/shangela-rupaul-drag-race-sexual-assault-1234974148/

ASK THE FANDOM--RESPONSES
Here’s this week’s Ask the Fandom question:
Is Keith Mars ACTUALLY a good investigator since he a.) didn’t know his wife was cheating on him b.) didn’t run Logan Echoll’s car through border patrol c.) didn’t get a full file on Lilly Kane (which would turn up the speeding ticket) d.) got outsmarted by Vinnie Van Lowe in Welcome Wagon by a trick VM spotted immediately, etc.
And here’s what you had to say:
@cheshirecatstrut--Personally I think Keith is just like Veronica. He’s extremely clever, maybe a bit smug, good at improvising/mimicking, reckless in pursuit of justice…and has giant blind spots due to personal bias. Like he hates Jake (and I’m one who believes he at least SUSPECTED his wife was cheating). This hatred causes him to accuse Jake of covering up Lilly’s murder during interrogation (which gets him fired) and ignore other suspects and leads. (Not just Aaron or the speeding ticket, either–he doesn’t really investigate Weevil or Logan, despite knowing they were both Lilly’s lovers). He also dislikes boys who REMIND him of Jake (Logan, Troy) so he chases them away from his daughter, while seeming fine with both Known to be Mentally Unstable Duncan and Sketchy Adult Cop Leo.
He sees himself as smarter and more ethical than Vinnie, and Vinnie uses that blind spot repeatedly to trap him (in much the same way Weevil plays Veronica). He judges Jake and Logan harshly for sleeping with married women, but finds extenuating circumstances when he’s the one doing so. He thinks leaving Neptune, having a corporate career, and marrying a ‘nice’ person is the road to happiness (mostly because it’s the exact opposite of the path he chose). So he manipulates and guilts Veronica into living that life, even though it’s not at all what she wants.
So in my opinion, he’s not so much a BAD investigator as a cocky and biased one. And he suffers for his flawed judgment the same way Veronica does–by losing the things he most values.
@mrskissytaylor--I feel like Keith wouldn’t have been a respected Sheriff or a respected PI by his clients if he wasn’t a good investigator. I mean, as Sheriff, we know he was elected by the people to hold the position, and he wouldn’t have been elected if he wasn’t capable of doing his job, especially to the 09 standards. Same idea goes for the PI side. Mars Investigation seems to rely a lot on reputation, he wouldn’t have many clients or referrals if he wasn’t good at what he did. I do however think that he, like Veronica - allows his own personal vendettas or issues with specific people cloud his judgement. Obviously Jake Kane was on his radar long before Lily’s death. He may not have known how long Leanne’s affair was going on for, but he had to have known on some level. I think that by going so far as to accuse Jake, he must have decided at some point that since his instincts were telling him Jake was somehow involved or responsible, he stopped looking at any other angle and ran with the circumstantial evidence. I bet if he continued to dig even after questioning Jake, he would have figured out the ticket. Same with Logan. This was the kid that he knew as the self entitled rich kid, used to not having consequences for his actions; and just also happened to be dating his daughter. He didn’t think Logan was ‘worthy enough’, so when she presents him with a plausible (yet very weak) motive…he goes with it - probably not with the intention of bringing Logan to justice based off of something circumstantial, but definitely because his little girl was emotionally hurt by it and he wouldn’t stand for that. What is it they say? Someone always has to pay?
@captaine-carter--He definitely knew Lianne was cheating on him (there’s a reason he hates Jake so much) he just choose to ignore it because he didn’t want to destroy his family. And with Lilly he was blinded by how badly he wanted Jake to have done it just like Veronica gets when accusing Logan of evil. The one big difference between Veronica and Keith is Keith tends to be more of an optimist about people. Probably because he was an adult before being exposed to all the scandal while she was still a high schooler and so he does tend to miss a couple things Veronica picks up on because she’s always convinced everyone is up to something. (Unless they are a ‘nice’ guy)

Before it became the location famous for the cost-effective, shabby-turned-chic homes seen on HGTV's "Fixer Upper," Waco, Texas, was perhaps best known for the bungled 51-day siege near the city by federal law enforcement of cult leader David Koresh's Branch Davidian compound, which ended in tragedy in spring 1993.
A new Paramount Network six-part miniseries aims to remind viewers of — or, depending on their age, introduce them to— the harrowing standoff as the 25th anniversary nears.
"Waco" chronicles the days leading up to and the eventual storming of the apocalyptic religious sect's homestead by federal agents. The raid culminated in a deadly fire; in the end, four federal agents and more than 70 Branch Davidian members, including 17 children under age 10, died. In the months that followed, probes into the standoff called into question the tactics and judgment of federal officials on the case.
"Friday Night Lights" alum Taylor Kitsch stars as the charismatic cult leader, while Oscar-nominated actor Michael Shannon ("The Shape of Water," "Nocturnal Animals") plays FBI negotiator Gary Noesner.
The miniseries, which premieres Wednesday, is a key property helping to shape the identity of the Paramount Network, a rebranding of Viacom's male-skewing Spike channel that launched last week, as a general entertainment destination. And it underscores how television programmers are eager to get a piece of the true-crime frenzy gripping viewers.
"The story of Waco is very important, historically, and very compelling," said Keith Cox, the network's president of development and programming. "For us, as we rebrand... it was the perfect piece that we think will really speak to an audience… People love true crime. They just make for really gripping, emotional and riveting storytelling."
(The miniseries has had its own complicated history. The Weinstein Co. was one of its producers, but the producing credits were removed in wake of the sexual harassment and rape allegations leveled against Harvey Weinstein.)
For writers John Erick Dowdle and Drew Dowdle, whose film credits include 2015's "No Escape" and 2010's "Devil," the journey to telling the story of the infamous standoff began four years ago as they were trying to flesh out a villain for an unrelated film script.
"We thought, 'What if he grew up in a cult, like the Branch Davidians?'" John Erick recalled. That led them to a book by David Thibodeau, one of the sect's surviving members, titled "A Place Called Waco."
"Five pages into it," John Erick said, "I called Drew and was like, 'You have to read this.' It was totally different than what I remembered of the news accounts." They quickly came to the realization that unpacking the true story would be more compelling than their fiction.
"We find that people over the age of 35 tend to remember a distorted version of what really happened, the media narrative of the time," Drew said. "And people under the age of 35 largely don't know about it at all, or they've heard it loosely referenced. It was a story that was running the risk of being permanently erased in the history books in a distorted, untrue version. And to some extent, we wanted to tell a more balanced version of it."
The brothers knew they wanted to go beyond the news reports, because in their view, one of the major failures of the media was its distance from the action.
The duo interviewed agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms and the FBI, as well as theologians, lawyers and surviving Branch Davidian members in an attempt to offer both an inside view of what unfolded and multiple perspectives of the entities that battled it out over the nearly two- month ordeal. The pair also relied on "Stalling for Time: My Life as an FBI Hostage Negotiator," a book written by Noesner, for insight into the perspective of authorities. Both Thibodeau and Noesner served as consultants on the miniseries.
The Dowdles' goal was to present a "no bad guys" account that would challenge the preconceptions of viewers.
"What we're saying is there's not one right side — it's not the FBI or the ATF or the Branch Davidians who are the bad guys," Drew said. "All three of those entities had complicated situations. It led to some very poor decisions, for sure."
"We wanted to see why people do the things they do," added John Erick.
For Kitsch, that meant not making a judgment call on whether Koresh was a stone-cold psychopath or a disturbed man with a troubled childhood in search of purpose.
"You didn't know what you were getting," Kitsch said. "That was fun to play, because I could turn a whole scene around if I wanted to, and it would be justifiable, because that guy wore his heart on his sleeve and was very emotional and manipulative. He was incredibly loving at times, and then at times just no bueno [not good]...I don't think you'll ever fully understand the why."
The actor, whose other credits include HBO's "True Detective" and "Lone Survivor," says he immersed himself in all-things Koresh in the four months he had to prepare for the role, poring over hundreds of hours of video and recruiting tapes, as well as peppering Thibodeau with questions. In addition to shedding 30 pounds, Kitsch took guitar and singing lessons — Koresh was a skilled musician who led a band made up of his followers — and studied the Bible.
Shannon, who relied heavily on Noesner's book and discussions with the since-retired FBI agent, chose not to try an impersonation, since it was futile — the men are very different physically, he said, "I don't think anyone would ever mistake me for Gary Noesner." Instead, his focus was trying to capture how Noesner's mind ticked, the way he approached his work and the different emotions that resulted from the stressful situations in which he operated.
"It wasn't easy what Gary had to do — that's an understatement," said Shannon, currently appearing in the staging of Brett Neveu's "Traitor" in Chicago. "The challenge of negotiating with David was big enough on its own. But Gary was getting thwarted and second-guessed by his own co-workers, which made it doubly difficult… I was completely fascinated by that."
In attempting to create a mutli-dimensional portrait of all the players, the brothers have been criticized by those who believe they underplay the allegations of child abuse, including statutory rape, made against Koresh and the sect's members.
The Dowdles acknowledge that they don't spend a lot of time exploring the topic, in part because it was "tricky" — while they believe that Koresh, who operated with an Old Testament mind-set, was guilty of statutory rape, they felt that other reports of physical abuse were overblown or inconclusive.
The Waco standoff has been the subject of various film and TV projects through the years but has resurfaced in recent months with the approach of the 25th anniversary. Koresh was one of the many leaders Evan Peters portrayed in the cult-focused season of "American Horror Story" that wrapped its run in November. And it has prompted a number of specials, including the upcoming A&E documentary "Waco: Madman or Messiah."
Cox said viewers too young to remember the events — Kitsch, for example, was 11— or not yet born, will still be intrigued.
"It was a huge event in American history," he said. "But if you don't know it, you're going to find yourself getting on the computer and Googling.'
The last installment will be shown on Feb. 28, the 25th anniversary of the start of the siege. With more than two decades of hindsight, what is the legacy of the deadly tragedy?
"I think it's a pretty terrible one," Kitsch said. "It's something that people can't forget about, but want to kind of just sweep it under the rug… what I've taken away is: Don't be so quick to just formulate an opinion on, like, a headline or something — know the source, know where it's coming from."

So your problem is the length of time between sale and arrest? Law enforcement isn't instantaneous. You can only be arrested for a crime if you're caught, just like drug dealers and any other crime for that matter.
If you read my previous link with the article from the ATF;
“Straw purchasing is not a victimless crime. The act of knowingly enabling a prohibited person to purchase a firearm puts firearms in the hands of criminal organizations and violent criminals presenting a grave threat to the safety of our communities,” said Acting Special Agent in Charge Keith Krolczyk.
Just because he could sell private without a background check doesn't protect him from knowingly selling to a prohibited person under federal law.
That's a crime as well. The man committed several crimes state and federal.
So @thedreadpiratejames after this entire conversation. You don't get that it can still be subverted...

Weapons of Class Destruction
Oh, Christ! Schmidt. And there we have it, Leo is definitely looking to sleep with Veronica despite him knowing very well that she is underage and he is a law enforcement officer. Fuck you, Leo! Get the fuck off my TV, you would-be rapist! NEXT!
HA! Keith and Alicia Fennel! Their reactions! Priceless! Way to turn it around, Show!
Joey Lauren Adams! From everything in the 90’s! Chasing Amy, Dazed and Confused, Bio-Dome.
She is apparently the new journalism teacher. So Miss Dent is definitely and for certain gone for good then, huh? I mean, it’s obviously been a dozen or so episodes and she’s long since been pulled from the opening credits, so it’s not a huge surprise. Is there ever any explanation as to what happened to her? Or are we just left to speculate?
Oh, well, yeah. I guess there is.
Clemmons says the fire drills are just policy.
Corny!? Has he been seen since the (Extended) Pilot? It’s like this episode is mocking me for all the comments I’ve made about Veronica’s friends disappearing after one episode. The credits have already told me that Mac and Meg will also be appearing as well. Did the show suddenly get a huge upswing in its budget and now can afford all the people in the credits and all the guest stars as well?
Drug dogs?
Nope! Bomb-sniffing dogs! Holy shit! This show doesn’t play around. (I mean I guess the episode title should have warned me, but...)
Piss off, Clemmons! Students don’t lose their rights just because they’re in school. Students and their parents have the right to know about these kinds of things, and since you weren’t calling an emergency PTA meeting (which you should have) someone had to get the word out. Miss Stafford’s judgment was Ace, you condescending shitbird!
Holy fuck! JTT! Are they just casting every teenage knob character off of Home Improvement now? On the laundry list of people I never thought I’d see again… Holy crap! Also, what’s with his hair?
His buddy is Juice from Sons of Anarchy and Shades from Luke Cage. (Why do none of his character have normal names?)
And this dude who was arguing with Mac is Steve Newlin from True Blood.
Okay, ominous countdown.
So… random conversation between Veronica and Meg about someone disappearing off the face of the Earth? It that somehow relevant?
Not-Juice the Bully stands up for Veronica? I’m assuming that means he has a thing for Veronica.
Sooooo… screaming about killing someone during an on-going bomb scare? Like I get that he’s upset and not thinking things through, but WOW, bad timing, Duncan!
Non-Existent Ben buying huge amounts of fertilizer? This seems incredibly obvious.
Okay, so he’s a Fed. That doesn’t make the fertilizer purchase any less worrisome. Also, does that mean that that’s what the ATF thinks a teenager’s hair looks like?
Jump Street! Nice!
You remember back in “Betty and Veronica” when I went over how Clemmons should not be engaging Veronica’s investigative services? Well, that absolutely applies to an ATF agent as well… only it’s about 50 times less appropriate. Hell, he shouldn’t even be talking to her with Keith around. This guy thinks that Norris is a teenage Ted Kaczynski waiting to happen and he wants to send in a 17-year-old girl with no support or back-up? How did he get a job at the ATF, again? Was it the hair?
Okay, so that’s sort of out of nowhere. There’s been basically no build to Veronica/Logan as a couple. Is it meant to feel that abrupt?
“Is that wireless?” And once again the show reminds me how old it is.
So the tip about Ben and Norris came from Norris’ neighbor?
So Ben’s super successful record is because he’s a dirty son of a bitch. So
So Veronica’s how-to guide to disappearing was an instructional for Duncan, seems like it’s a little bit contrived if you ask me.
Miss Stafford has one hell of cause for a lawsuit on her hands. Fired for doing her job? I hope Mr. Clemmons and the school administration enjoy all their nice summonses.

ASK THE FANDOM--RESPONSES
Here’s this week’s Ask the Fandom question:
Is there any meta or people’s ideas of how different the show or Veronica would have been if Keith hadn’t been her biological father? I have some thoughts but am not that good at articulating them (though I don’t think it would have changed Keith and Veronica’s relationship much).
And here’s what you had to say:
@iamjmgardner--So, if Keith isn’t Veronica’s father, then I assume that means Jake Kane is, which also means Duncan is her half-brother, and Lianne reaches new levels of suckage as a mother (and Jake, and Keith if he knew that Veronica wasn’t his daughter and let her and Duncan date).
Honestly, the show already has a lot of dark elements, but I think a sibling relationship between Duncan and Veronica assuming everything else that had happened including him assaulting her at Shelly’s party would have been WAY dark. Can you imagine the trauma? We saw a glimpse of it for the period of time Veronica lived with that knowledge, but I really can’t imagine what would have happened to her had it turned out to be true. I wonder what Logan’s reaction would have been as well, since we definitely wouldn’t have had a DuVe remix at the beginning of S2. If Logan ever found out that Duncan slept with Veronica WHEN HE THOUGHT SHE WAS HIS SISTER, what would he have done?
Sidenote—now I really, really need to rewatch to figure out just how much knowledge Logan had about the whole Veronica’s paternity is in question thing??? Did she ever reveal that to him when she told him what happened between her and Duncan? She finds out about Duncan in 1x21 - ATTD but she doesn’t find out the paternity results until 1x22 -LITB – which means she spent that period of time knowing that Duncan assaulted her and believing that he still COULD HAVE BEEN HER BROTHER!
I have strayed so far from the original question, but oh my God, how did I not think about this before??
I need another ask the fandom immediately to see what you guys think about Logan’s knowledge–did he just think that Duncan assaulted Veronica, his ex-girlfriend, at a party, or did he think that Duncan assaulted a girl Duncan THOUGHT WAS HIS SISTER at a party??

Veronica Mars Rewatch Season 1 Part 6
“Weapons of Class Destruction”
I feel like this episode is famous for some reason??
Oh yeah! My favorite couple in the show get together in this one!
They’re Keith and Alicia -- who did you think I was talking about?
- Leo and V isn’t only creepy because of the 29-month age difference, but because she’s a minor in high school and he’s a full-time cop.
- Also, as a journalist, I GO CRAZY WHEN I WATCH THIS EPISODE! See notes with asterisks ** for more details.
- CORNY!! Oh, I hope Corny’s in the revival.
- Ok, so the Sheriff’s Office knows about the bomb threats but Ellen Roush, a DISTRICT ADMINISTRATOR, doesn’t. (And we know she doesn’t, because when Veronica calls Clemmons pretending to be her, Clemmons tells her about the threats for the first time, thinking he’s talking to the assistant superintendent of schools.) That means the principal of the district’s high school has CALLED THE COPS on bomb threats but HASN’T told anyone in the school administration, much less parents and members of the public, about the threats. I know school principals who have been fired for less. **
- Like, how the fuck is the sheriff’s office not coordinating with district administation??? I’m not even sure it’s legal for cops to respond to calls at public schools without notifying the district superintendent. At the very least, they’d be coordinating with school resources officers, who I’m pretty sure report straight to district administrators, not principals and certainly not fucking assistant principals.**
- And all this is happening at a PUBLIC SCHOOL. Paid for by TAXPAYERS. **
- And if Neptune were anything like the community I work in (and trust me, it’s a lot like the community I work in) then parents who heard about the constant fire drills from their kids would be curious enough to call the district office AND the local newspaper, and you can bet your ass we’d be trying to get to the bottom of all this if we got tipped off by a teacher or a parent (and we WOULD get tipped off by a teacher or a parent). **
- Also, if Clemmons hasn’t told the district officials, he definitely hasn’t told the school board. You think Sabrina Fuller’s mom hasn’t been told by Sabrina that her studying’s being interrupted by constant fire drills? And you think Sabrina Fuller’s mom isn’t able to figure out why the fuck that is when the district superintendent answers directly to her and the rest of the board? **
- THIS IS A TAXPAYER-FUNDED OPERATION, CLEMMONS, NOT A FUCKING DICTATORSHIP! **
- And he’s also not telling teachers -- TEACHERS -- about the threats because the journalism sub doesn’t know about it. What the fuck, Clemmons? **
- Also, an extra fuck-you to him for saying Veronica should never have called the assistant superintendent. Students should be able to go to district administration. **
- Basically what I’m saying is, Clemmons and probably the rest of the office administration at Neptune High, along with the school resource officers, would have all been fired immediately if any of this shit happened in real life.
- And another thing, the threats are being INVESTIGATED BY THE ATF, IT’S NOT LIKE THEY DON’T TAKE THE THREATS SERIOUSLY, my God and Jesus Christ and Mary and Joseph this episode makes me SEE RED. **
- Ok, rant over. I’m taking it off pause. Back to regular note-taking.
- “You’d never believe how insane the administration office is. Phones ringing off the hook, parents going off on Clemmons.” Yeah, they fucking should be going off on him.
- Ok, NOW my rant’s over.
- Also the interview in the office makes me mad. I just want to punch Clemmons in the face.
- I do love the part where Miss Stafford grins while Veronica’s imitating Ms. Roush.
- Also, super unprofessional of Clemmons to criticize Miss Stafford to the extent he does in front of a student.
- “I gotta say, Veronica, I’m getting a little tired of doing you favors.” That’s fair. I think Veronica’s a better friend to Wallace than I gave her credit for when I first watched the show, but that’s definitely a fair statement.
- I actually really like the scene between V and Duncan in the journalism room, because it highlights just how excellent a murder suspect Duncan is. Just watching Duncan work it out is great.
- And now we’re on the way to the Camelot -- I feel like something important happens there.
- Also I don’t care if Jonathan Taylor Thomas is a federal agent, the only reason he has for not telling V that in the parking lot is to get her in a room alone with him and scare the bejeezus out of her, because some guys specifically become cops because they get off on that shit.
- Logan’s like an overprotective Doberman, and it’s super cute.
- *Swoon*
- So that first kiss is full-on V trying to kiss him on the cheek and missing because she’s short and I know that because I am also short and I have also kissed boys in places I didn’t mean to kiss them because they’re taller than me and I can’t reach.
- Mr. Clemmons deserves to have his hand impaled by throwing stars this ep.
- Is the line “No, you can just hand them back to me,” supposed to seem threatening? I felt like it was the first time I watched it, but now I’m not getting as strong a vibe in that particular moment, although he does get very up in her face to ask her out.
- “Mac, if you were planning the Apocalypse for a Friday, would you ask someone out on a date for that weekend?” “That’s the only way I’d ask someone out.”
- “Earth to Mars.” I’m embarrassed that it took me five years to get that.
- Norris is going to have a hell of a lawsuit to file when he gets out of custody.
- Holy shit, if Norris put what’s-his-name in the hospital, he should probably have been expelled, or at least sent to the district alternative school. Also, what’s-his-name’s dad sucks.
- I think I’ve seen the actress who plays Miss Stafford somewhere else. To IMDb!
- (Apparently she’s in an episode of As Told By Ginger.)
- Also, Miss Stafford is like the only person at Neptune High who SHOULDN’T be fired out of all this.

Florida News: Fort Lauderdale Resident, De Andre Smith Sentenced to 92 Years in Prison for Armed Robberies and Carjacking
New Post has been published on https://www.stl.news/florida-news-fort-lauderdale-resident-de-andre-smith-sentenced-to-92-years-in-prison-for-armed-robberies-and-carjacking/169883/
Florida News: Fort Lauderdale Resident, De Andre Smith Sentenced to 92 Years in Prison for Armed Robberies and Carjacking
Florida – Today, a Fort Lauderdale resident was sentenced to over 92 years in prison by United States District Senior Judge James I. Cohn, after having been convicted at trial of three armed robberies, a carjacking, and brandishing a firearm during the commission of each violent act.
Benjamin G. Greenberg, United States Attorney for the Southern District of Florida, Ari C. Shapira, Special Agent in Charge, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), Miami Field Office, Rick Maglione, Chief, Fort Lauderdale Police Department (FLPD), and Keith Dunn, Chief, Davie Police Department, made the announcement.
De Andre Smith, 23, of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, was convicted by a trial jury on July 2, 2018, on all eight federal charges. Smith was sentenced to a total of 1,105 months in prison, to be followed by 5 years of supervised release.
According to the court record, on December 12, 2017, Smith brandished a firearm at an IT Tech in Fort Lauderdale, demanding software be placed on his computer. When the tech refused, Smith proceeded to beat the tech in the face with the firearm and then steal computer software. As a result of this beating, the tech eventually had to have one eye amputated.
On December 20, 2017, Smith carjacked a victim at gunpoint in Fort Lauderdale. Smith then immediately went to a Dunkin Donuts in Davie, jumped the counter and held the clerk at gunpoint, while demanding money. After obtaining money, Smith then left and went to a third location in South Florida, a Subway restaurant in Davie. There, at gunpoint, Smith again jumped the counter, demanded and stole money from the employees.
This case stems from Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program that brings together all levels of law enforcement and the communities they serve to reduce violent crime and make our neighborhoods safer for everyone. Attorney General Jeff Sessions reinvigorated PSN in 2017 as part of the Department’s renewed focus on targeting violent criminals, directing all U.S. Attorney’s Offices to work in partnership with federal, state, local, and tribal law enforcement and the local community to develop effective, locally-based strategies to reduce violent crime.
Mr. Greenberg commended the investigative efforts of the ATF, FLPD and Davie Police Department in this matter. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Jodi L. Anton and Francis Viamontes.

ASK THE FANDOM--RESPONSES
Here’s this week’s Ask the Fandom question:
Do you think Keith ever experienced professional jealousy towards Veronica? Veronica was the one to identify Lilly Kane’s murderer, bus crash perpetrator, dean’s killer.
And here’s what you had to say:
@iamjmgardner--Interesting question. It’s hard for me to imagine a parent like Keith being jealous of his daughter, especially for her being better at solving those crimes. I think in terms of who is the better detective–Keith or Veronica–it’s questionable because they both do some things well and make serious mistakes at other points.
I think Keith was probably deeply impressed by Veronica’s abilities and a little nervous at how perceptive she was sometimes. I do think that his pride in his daughter’s accomplishments made it especially hard for him to see her in his eyes “throw it all away” and give up the FBI, go to law school, and then seemingly give that up too. On the whole though, I think the one thing Keith was without fail throughout the series was proud of his daughter
@sheneedsepic--Absolutely not. I think he was remorseful about her choosing the PI life and sad that she was so good at it only in the sense that he wanted something else for her. On the flip side he was incredibly proud of her and all she accomplished in her PI persists.
