rereading For What It's Worth on a whim and this little exchange caught my attention:
“There are no men like me,” he snaps. She laughs, sharp but not cruel. “If I had a credit for every time I’ve heard that, I could retire somewhere tropical.”
because now it makes the fact that I gave Qora the Copero Villa thematically relevant 😂
#swtor#qora rhiannon#I just gave it to her since she's the one I'm spending most of my time on so she can do the unlock quests#but hey! now she *can* retire somewhere tropical#at the ripe old age of like... 30 😂#and *with* the man she said that to no less (arcann was right tho. there are no other men like him)

Boys Night Out
I have run out of words to praise the indescribable @/artbyainna over on IG. Every time I have a commission made, I say the next one won't possibly be able to top this, and then she outdoes herself. I told her I adore this one so much I may print it and hang it. Hell, if people can have dogs playing poker hanging on their walls, I can have hot fictional guys playing poker on mine! 😂😂
Here's a drabble to accompany this masterpiece, I hope you enjoy!
Title: Boys Night Out Book: Open Heart (Post Series) Characters: Bryce Lahela, Ethan Ramsey, Tobias Carrick Rating: Mature (It’s not explicit at all, but they do discuss some racy topics so, to be safe.) Category: Fluff Summary: Tobias has his townhome to himself tonight as Casey has a girls-night-out. He runs into some opposition when he tries to convince the guys to come over, but some stories about times past convince them to cancel their previous plans to join him in his man cave. Words: 1225

Tobias buoyantly walked down the hall, quite relaxed now that his shift was forty minutes behind him. Twenty of those minutes were spent ravenously kissing his girlfriend. Ever since he and Casey got together, his Friday nights happily belonged to her; but tonight, she was ditching him for a night out with the girls. After he reminded her why she should be anxious to return home to him at the end of the night, he set off to find some plans of his own. He couldn’t believe his luck when he spotted not one but both of the men he was looking for at the end of the hall.
“Ethan! Bryce! Great, just the men I wanted to see!”
“I assure you that is a one-way sentiment,” Ethan grumbled. “Because whatever it is, my answer is no.”
“Harsh,” Bryce teased, “let the man tell us his plans before cutting him down like that.”
“I know what’s happening here. The Tobias Carrick avoided any form of commitment for the first 37 years of his life. During those years, Friday nights were filled with mayhem and debauchery. Now, since he’s been happily hen-pecked for the last 15 months, all of his Friday nights have belonged to Casey.”
“Mmm,” Bryce nodded. “But in fairness, they were likely still filled with debauchery.”
Ethan scowled in Bryce’s direction, but when his eyes returned to Tobias, his friend shrugged.
“I’m not going to say he’s lying,” he confirmed. “But what does this have to do with anything.”
“Casey has a girl's night out planned tonight,” Ethan continued, “which means our friend here is faced with spending his first Friday night alone in over two decades. He can’t handle it, so he’s hitting us up for assistance.”
“I can handle it just fine, thank you very much! But… when is the last night we had some serious guy time? Huh? Come on, I’ve got the mancave stacked with beer and snacks, the Red Sox are on, and it’s been ages since I’ve had a good poker game. What do you say?”
“My idea of a good Friday night consists of a quick stop at Donahue’s. Followed by quality time in my favorite chair listening to Vivaldi’s Mandolin Concerto in C with a snifter of fine brandy in my hand.”
Tobias’s eyes rolled to the back of his head, “You’re a regular animal there, tiger. But considering you will still be able to do that at the ripe old age of 90, why don’t you come over with us tonight and live a little.”
“Uh, take me out of that equation,” Bryce injected. “I’ve already got plans.”
“You do?”
Bryce scowled in response. “I told my parents I’d show their friend's daughter around Boston. We’ve rescheduled three times, and we’re kind of tentative for tonight.”
“Kind of tentative. Yeah, that sounds definitive. Scratch those plans; you’re not going. Male bonding is in order.”
“Oh, Jesus,” Ethan moaned, rubbing his temples.
“Stop complaining, Gramps! It’s settled! My place, 7:30. I’ll see you both there.”
“Uh, T, we didn’t set anything,” Bryce replied.
“I can’t believe I’m going to say this,” Ethan grumbled, “but I have to agree with the meat jockey on this one.”
“Scalpel,” Bryce corrected.
“What?”
“You said meat jockey, and to be honest, that sounds perverted. It’s scalpel jockey or meat head. If you’re going to hang with the cool kids, Ramsey, you have to make a better effort to learn our names.”
“And there is one more reason for me to stay home tonight….”
“Oh, cut the crap, Ethan!” Tobias scolded. “If anyone is in desperate need of a boy’s night, it’s you! When was the last time you ditched all your headaches and had a fun night with the guys?”
“Med school. You were there, and if memory serves, it gave me more headaches than it took away.”
Tobias rubbed his chin thoughtfully, his mind a million miles away.
“Yeah,“ he chuckled, "but this time will be different. I assure you, there will be no strippers or reindeer involved.”
“Strippers or reindeers?” Bryce questioned. “What the hell did you guys do at Hopkins?”
“Ah,” Tobias waved, “it was a bachelor party gone bad.”
“OK, strippers at a bachelor party, I’ve heard of, but reindeer? Were they live?”
“No!” Tobias exclaimed. “What do you take us for? Heathens! They were inflatable!”
Bryce’s brow rose as his laughter rippled down the hall. “That may actually be worse! Do you care to explain?”
“It was the holiday season,” Ethan mumbled. “After the police raided the party, the strippers ran out of the house onto the lawn, where there happened to be inflatable reindeer.”
“Yeah,” Tobias added, “it started innocently enough. One of the ladies tripped over the electrical cord and landed right on top of poor Rudolph, but it turned into quite a… show. By the night's end, they said they were adding the inflatables to their standard repertoire. You know,” Tobias tapped Ethan’s shoulder, “in some way, we’re responsible for contributing to the arts.”
“I think that may be the opposite of contributing to the arts, Tobias.”
“Wait, wait, wait….” Bryce insisted. “I have questions. First, who was getting married?”
“One of our med school teachers. The guy was a real ass,” Tobias replied.
“So you were at your med school teacher’s bachelor party?”
“God no!” Ethan protested. “That man made Severus Snape look like Mary Poppins. I wouldn’t be at any party associated with him on a dare.”
“So why were you there? And why was there a police raid… I have so many questions!”
“We were responsible for the police raid,” Ethan announced proudly.
“Yeah, the guy's lived in a house that was technically on school property. It was part of his housing stipend.”
“And having a part of this nature there was against school ordinances,” Ethan added.
“They also exceeded the number of guests allowed in the building according to Baltimore fire code.”
“And we knew this,” Ethan recalled. “So, we grabbed some lawn chairs and a six-pack, or two, picked a spot from across the street, called the police, and watched the action unfold.”
“We never expected the whole strippers and reindeer performance, if we’re being honest,” Tobias confessed. “But I must admit, it made for quite a memory.”
Ethan’s eyes crinkled as he broke out into laughter. “It sure did.”
“Now see, isn’t this better than sitting home alone listening to some dead guy’s concerto?” Tobias asked. “Come on, come over, let's have some fun.”
“You know what, I’m in,” Ethan agreed. “As long as you’re confident there will be no strippers and reindeer.”
“One-hundred percent sure,” Tobias laughed, “Casey cleared them all out when she moved in. Bryce? You down?”
“Will there be tacos?”
“I can arrange for Tacos.”
“Then, yeah, I’m down. Plus, I wouldn’t mind destroying some appliances at your house. You know, for retaliation.”
“What?” a confused Ethan asked.
“HEY!” Tobias yelled. “I paid you good hush money and restitution!” He pointed to Ethan, “You’re not allowed to discuss it with a third party present.”
Ethan shook his head. “You know what, I don’t even want to know… I’m sure I’d change my mind and head home to my concerto if I did.”
“You know,” Tobias said as the three men headed toward the elevator. “That might be a sensible move.”
“It likely is, Carrick,” Ethan said, pressing the button to close the door. “It likely is.”
_____
After having their tacos and watching some of the game, the guys decided to play poker. Tobias cleaned house, winning almost every game, leaving Ethan and Bryce wishing they had stuck with their original plans. But Tobias was all too happy.

Q: When did u start reading fics? And when did u ever reach a point when u found yourself reading things that u never thought you’d read before? Im in my late 20’s. Got into Hp fics like most 13-15 year olds in the early 00’s, and i’ve been in so many fandoms. (Including1/d which i will say had some of the best fics i’ve come across) although i will say b/ts fics are pretty up there too. But i find myself very ??? At the b/ts stuff i’m reading NOW in my late 20’s, whereas i was pretty conservative before 😂 and i’ve been trying to pin it down, like why am i into dark fics? Abo? Da/ddy kink? Sub drop?? And dead dove. I’ve come to the conclusion its stan twt 😂 i follow authors then follow their moots and their moots moots. Everyone had kinks, and they spill it on their timeline. And at this ripe old age curiosity got the best of me 😂 So i read their work and their moots work and its all new to me! But i like it! Lol
A: i'm in my 30s, and i started reading fic when i was 13 on like lotr rpf webrings, and have also been in a bunch of fandoms since then 😂 pretty soon after that i got into hp fic and that was most of what i read through high school. even in hp as a teenager though, i read some pretty dark shit, like i was a member of some locked livejournal hp fic communities that i was DEFINITELY not old enough to be lurking in! then later i was in teen wolf, and again, like there's lots of monster fucking so there was some pretty dark stuff. in bts part of what strikes me as different from my previous fandoms is that most of the fic author community happens on twitter, and nsfw threads on twitter are wildly popular and often very extreme, while i never really saw a corollary to those on quite the same level of popularity in my other fandoms. it's impossible for me to know though if it's really any larger a portion of the fic community as a whole! it sounds like you just happened to find one or two authors you really like this time around who had some kinks, and it led you down a rabbit hole in the way fandom so often does! i think that fanfic can be a cool space to explore things that might be taboo or extreme, or that we would never be into in real life, and i think it's especially safe for you to do that as an adult who already has a solid idea of how healthy sex works! go sow your oats! i support you! my list of hard no's in fic has definitely changed over time, but is still fairly extensive, and it's really just based on what turns me off, which, again, can change over time and even between formats (for example, some things that i might find hot in the context of a longer fic with plot i might not find sexy in the context of an nsfw thread, which is a different style of writing.) sexuality and arousal are fluid, and i'm happy that fic is helping you to get a better idea of what your own imagination can find sexy or not!
