Season 5 rewatch thoughts:

(idk if anyone actually reads these but idc I like writing them lmao)

overall thoughts: this was a shorter season (only 20 episodes) but it didn’t feel like it for some reason and I can’t decide if that’s good or bad lol. the distance between “Redux” and “The End” feels enormous though, and I think it’s bc you can really divide this season into three distinct sections: the cancer arc climax of Redux/Redux II, post-cancer arc (Detour, The Post-Modern Prometheus), and post Christmas Carol/Emily arc, that all have a very different tone from each other. obviously the main overarching theme this season is mulder and scully’s role reversals of believer vs. skeptic, but this season also deals a lot with trust in a way that I found similar to earlier episodes (particularly “wetwired” in regards to “the pine bluff variant”) but where the themes manifest in a different way bc the M/S relationship has changed so much even just from the beginning of the season

msr: redux/redux II is earth-shattering for so many reasons but imo this is the point where i think it’s solidified for both of them that they are IT for each other like there is no possible way they can imagine a future without the other in it. (now I don’t think they think the other feels the same way as they do lol but it’s a confirmation of their own feelings at least) but, coming to this realization is deeply painful especially considering the emily arc, scully’s chip, mulder’s disbelief, and just the weight of their work and the x files in general- made all the worse bc it is impossible for them to separate their work from their love for each other. the ouroboros of it all!! “folie a deux” is the culmination of the horror show of their current relationship, and diana in the following episode further takes an axe to it, particularly for scully. I also don’t think it’s completely fair to say that mulder alone stopped anything from happening in “detour” bc scully also did the same thing in “emily” when she refused mulder’s comfort (understandably, she was probably still pissed at him, but as she told the social worker, she was also keeping him at arms length for her own protection). who knows if things would have been different if that hadn’t had happened, but I think her rejection of him makes their distance from each other in the rest of the season bc of their changing beliefs feel even more isolating. I thought s4 was bad for angst, but whew! also, no hugs this season, and almost no physical affection after the cancer arc except for small moments in “the red and the black”, “all souls”, “folie a deux”, and “the end”.

writing: vince gilligan is a god!!! though he (and tim minear) had a tiny flop with “kitsunegari”. I also love his attention to continuity by having mulder wear a bandage on his finger in “folie a deux”, it makes it even darker when you consider mulder was ~this close~ to dying probably not even a week apart...no wonder he’s so grumpy lmao. I also was very impressed with john shiban in “the pine bluff variant” considering I normally can’t stand his solo writing episodes (like “teso dos bichos” is thee worst episode of the series i’m sorry)

directing: I miss rob bowman :(( but “kill switch” and “the pine bluff variant” were absolute VIBES and I can’t wait for FTF. the non manners/bowman direction was mostly fine, but the only other directors that stuck out to me were chris carter for “the post modern prometheus” and “the red and the black” (where he was imitating bowman i think) and r.w. goodwin for “the end”. also lots of close up shots of mulder’s eyes this season! big fan!

hair: great hair from both of them, and the most consistent (probably bc of FTF) early s4 scully hair and s1/s3 mulder hair is still my favorite tho lol

favorite episodes: Redux II, Detour, Christmas Carol/Emily, Kill Switch, Bad Blood, The Pine Bluff Variant, Folie a Deux, The End

70% worth rewatching imo (surprising bc there were a lot of episodes I LOVED but there was a lot of filler too, probably bc of FTF filming)

individual episode reactions under the cut:

Redux- good, but very exposition heavy

Redux II- literally being shot in the chest would be less painful. Amazing.

Unusual Suspects- Lone Gunman origin story. No Scully :(

Detour- thee quintessential x files episode. iconique.

The Post Modern Prometheus- great gowns, beautiful gowns. Bad story.

Christmas Carol- ahhhh :(((( Scully looks hot tho, and love Melissa reappearance

Emily- Scully :((((((

Kitsunegari- kind of dumb and unnecessary, pusher is perfect without it :/

Schizogeny- okay Lorax killer trees episode…boring

Chinga- fun lil stephen king vibes™️ episode, bored weekend mulder is hilarious

Kill Switch- Scully is bisexual confirmed, vibes>>>>

Bad Blood- one of the funniest episode of the series methinks. obsessed.

Patient X- yikes…mulder is kind of an asshole? role reversal

The Red and the Black- unintentionally hilarious? but also deeply sad

Travelers-boring, almost no M/S, but Mulder was randomly married???

Mind’s Eye- mehhhhh

All Souls- decent, scully catholicism episode

The Pine Bluff Variant- yooooo!! really good and suspenseful!

Folie a Deux- Vince Gilligan has done it again!!!!

The End- screammm so good

“I feel like you’re taking me to a dark alley,” you say.

Nathan chuckles, “and what if I was?” “At least buy me dinner first,” you remark.

He grins, holding onto your shoulders as he guides you out of the car. “Don’t worry. You’ll eat tonight.”

You let out a snort. “And what does that mean? You think you’re gonna get lucky tonight?”

“Just getting a first date with you makes me lucky,” he states. “Mm, such a sweet talker. I have no idea how Peyton could hate you,” you tease.

He rolls his eyes. “Maybe I will take you to an alley.” He begins to walk backwards.

“No, no! I won’t make fun of you anymore. I promise,” you say.

“Can you really promise that?” He asks. Your lips upturn into a slow smile. “Depends.”

“Depends?” He questions. “Yep. If you’re nice to me tonight,” you explain.

“Of course I will be. I’m always nice.”

“Yeah, okay. Anyways, I would like to take this blindfold off, please.”

“Right. My bad.” Nathan leads you away from the car and to the bookstore, opening the door for you and gently pushing you in.

“Hey, at least this dungeon is air conditioned,” you joke. Nathan rolls his eyes. “I know I’m a jackass, but I’m not a murderer.”

“Mm, I don’t know. You can’t be too sure they days, you know? A girl’s gotta be safe.”

“Well, you can trust me. This place is very safe and public. If I tried anything — which I won’t — people will come to your rescue,” Nathan assures you.

“There is a lot of movement and talking here,” you nod. “When do I get my sight back?”

“Just a few more steps.” Nathan walks you two over to a small table by your favorite book genres. There was a candlelit dinner all set up with a bouquet of your favorite flowers in the middle. It was secluded but open.

“Alright. In three, two, one.” Nathan takes off your blindfold and you anxiously open your eyes, becoming stunned.

“Did you do this?” You whip your head around to face him. His cheeks are painted pink and he has a shy smile on his face. “And what if I did?”

“Then I’d think you were a great guy, Nathan Scott.”

His heart soars at your words. “Good. That’s what I want to be for you.” He leads you to the table and pulls out your chair. You sit down with a ‘thank you’, scooting yourself in and resting your elbows on the table.

“So, what’s on the menu 23?” You ask.

Nathan blushes at his given nickname. It’s what you called him before you ever knew his name. When all you knew that he was a jackass basketball player, who managed to keep his girlfriend �� “keep”. You and your best friends, Haley and Lucas, referred to him as that, using it as a derogatory to unhuamize him. But now it was used as a term of endearment.

“Your favorite,” he answers. He lifts the lid off the plate and you can’t help but laugh. “What?” He frowns.

“I just — mac and cheese with breadsticks?” You question.

“I… I heard you talking to Haley about how the mac and cheese and breadstick combo at the one restaurant was amazing, and now it was your new favorite meal.”

Your eyes widen and you soften. “It is my favorite meal. I was just surprised at how you knew. This is really sweet, Nate. Thank you.” Your hand rest a on his and you squeeze his knuckles assuringly.

His heart flutters at your touch and he avoids eye contact. “Dig in whenever you’re ready.”

You nod, picking up your fork and taking a stab at the mac and cheese. You hum at the creamy and slightly spicy flavor of the cheese. “This is so good. Better than I remember.”

“I’m glad you think so,” Nathan grins. He takes off the lid of his own meal, revealing a sandwhich and fries with pickles on the side.

“That looks so good,” you lick your lips.

“Want a piece?” He asks. You shake your head. “I’m content with my kid’s menu dinner.”

He chuckles, “if you say so.” He takes a big bite of his sandwich, smearing mustard in the corner of his lips. You can’t help but laugh.

“What? Is me eating a sandwhich so funny?”

You giggle and shake your head. “You have something on your lips.”

He takes the back of his head and wipes his lips roughly, managing to miss the spot. You shake your head and wet your thumb, leaning over the table and cupping his cheek. His heart stops as you cup his cheek, gently rubbing off the condiment. Your eyes stay glued to his lips even seconds after you’re finished. He does the same, unconsciously leaning towards you.

Your eyes flicker back up to his eyes and your stomach churns as you see how dilated his pupils are. You give him a soft smile and pull away. “All cleaned up.”

He sits up in his seat, his ears becoming pink. “Thank you. I’ve always been a messy eater.”

“Oh, is that so?” You smirk. He grins, “yep. And not just with food.”

You roll your eyes at the comment, taking another bite of your mac and cheese. “So, how did you manage to get the library to agree to this?”

“I just asked nicely,” he answers. “Nathan Scott asking nicely? Oh, my god. I think the world is ending!” You gasp.

“Oh, whatever,” he rolls his eyes. “I can be nice, you know?”

“Mm, I know. Why aren’t you more nice?”

He sighs and takes a sip of water. “I guess all my life I’ve been taught to be rude.”

“You can always rise above.”

“Yeah, I’m realizing that.”

“And I’m very proud of you for doing so,” you grin. He smiles back. “Really?”

“Yep. You are almost a changed man.”

“Almost?” He asks. “Well, I have yet to see you read a book,” you smirk.

“Ah — I read!”

“Yeah, comics?”

“That involves reading!”

You giggle, “I suppose. You know, I’m still surprised you picked a bookstore to have this date. I remember you saying how people at bookstores are weird and you don’t want that to rub off on you.”

“You’re right,” he nods. “Maybe I shouldn’t spend time with you.”

You gaso and take your breadstick, smacking his arm. “I am a sophisticated young woman, mind you. And I don’t go here all the time.”

“Liar.”

“Oh, yeah? And how do you know.”

“I see you here every other day. You’re always returning books. You must not a life because you are always here.”

“Have you been talking me?” You raise your right brow.

His eyes widen and he shakes his head. “No, no! I just… Peyton would drag me around here to shop a lot. I just happen to see you sometimes.”

You can’t push doesn’t the smile that fills your face. “So, you did know who I was before we met?”

He awkwardly avoids eye contact. “I knew your name. And… I know that you like fantasy-adventure books.”

“That’s kind of cute, you know,” you hum. “It’s not creepy?” He asks.

You shake your head. “Not if you consider everything I know about you.”

“Well, I don’t exactly keep everything a secret.”

“True. Well, as long as you don’t know my social security card.”

“Actually, I do,” he says with a grin. “If you did, I’ll admit, that would be impressive. I don’t even know it,” you remark.

You two spend the rest of the evening chatting. It took you both an hour and a half to finish your food. After dinner, Nathan took you for ice cream. You walked back to the bookstore, ending up snuggling in a nook by the dinner table. You were in Nathan’s lap, resting your head against his shoulder. His arms are around you, holding you close to him. His chin rests against the crown of your head and he inhales your sweet shampoo scent. You’re reading one of your favorite books to him.

He’s not paying attention to the book, though. He’s more so admiring you. The way your lips move, your soft breathing, your brows furrowing as you lose your place. He loves seeing how fast your eyes move across the page, how your voice sounds like honey.

“What are you staring at?” You ask. “You,” he says, his voice unwavering.

You smile and set the book down, propping yourself up with your elbow. “Is this book boring you?”

He shakes his head. “Nope. There’s just this really pretty girl that I would much rather pay attention to.”

You cup his cheek and gaze into his eyes. “You’re really sweet, Nate. I’m glad I went out tonight.”

He gently grabs your hand and plays with your fingers. “Thank you. I’m really trying.”

“I know. And I appreciate it. Nobody has ever done this before. This is stuff you see in a rom-com.”

“And I’ve never done this before. It was fun. I like doing this, actually. It makes you happy, which makes me happy.”

“I am really happy.” You whisper as you rest your forehead against his. Your eyes search his and your heart palpitates as you see him staring at your lips. Your eyes flutter close as he moves in and brushes his lips against yours. Your hands move to his neck and you tangle your fingers in his hair, pushing yourself up against him and kissing him fully.

His lips fit perfectly with yours as you kiss him. His hands grip your body firmly, but in a caring manner. He doesn’t kiss you like you would expect. He’s gentle and passionate, not quick and messy. It feels just right.

You pull away, in a little bit of a daze as you look at him. He’s grinning from ear to ear.

“You look like you just wont be lottery,” you remark.

He cradles the back of your neck. He pulls you close again, softly caressing your skin. He looks at you lovingly, his grin never wavering. “I just did.”

a/n: happy birthday to kaeya the love of my life idc if he is a set of pixels 🥳🙏🙏 i have been a PROUD main since feb 25 2021 and i am not ashamed. i will proudly flex my triple crowned c5 r2 aquila kaeya on people. also did y’all see his birthday art???? LORDDDDD

the streets of the city were bustling, this time of the year was always busy. it was breaching the season of christmas, so everyone’s days were slowly getting busier and busier. whether it be busy with work, christmas shopping, or other unknown tasks, everyone found a way to be busy.

you, however, were currently on your way home early to surprise your boyfriend for his birthday.

you’d been away on a business trip for roughly three months now, and wasn’t supposed to return until right before christmas. this meant you would miss kaeya’s birthday— which you could never do to him. after some nonstop nagging your boss they reluctantly agreed to allow you to cut the trip early and finish the rest at home.

kaeya had no clue you were back in town. last he knew you were on your way to a big business conference and couldn’t talk for awhile, when in reality you were boarding your flight back home. after an agonizingly long six hour flight, you landed and found your way to the taxi outside.

thanks to a few mutual friends you got ahold of kaeya’s schedule for the day, so you knew how to plan things perfectly. you were going to do your best to avoid the apartment just in case he happened to stop by. if all goes according to plan, in a few hours you two will be reunited and celebrating his birthday together.

you spent the next three hours running all around the city, going from shop to shop for items. you bought a whole miscellaneous of items. the cake, obligatory fancy wine, a new watch to complete his set, some cologne, anything and everything that kaeya loved you managed to grab. time was flying by, and before you knew it you were rushing home to set up the apartment.

the apartment was thankfully empty when you arrived, just like you had planned. everything had been going according to schedule, so you had at least an hour to get everything laid out.

you started with the kitchen, placing the cake down in the center of the counter island. grabbing two glasses of wine out of the cabinets above, you filled them up and set them opposite of each other. you left the bottle out, figuring that one glass would not be enough for either of you.

next, you moved onto the living room. you unpacked all of the little trinkets and gifts you had bought your beloved, quickly and neatly wrapping them and placing them on the coffee table. by the time you were done it almost looked like christmas in there.

and at last, you moved onto the bedroom. you wanted to let kaeya end the day off with something relaxing, so what’s better than spending some time in the bedroom? you quickly made up the sheets, tucking them in and straightening them so they were all neat. next, you lit some candles on your nightstands to give the room an aroma. you went with a fall spice scent— awhile back kaeya mentioned that smell was his one of his favorites. your memory with that type of stuff was finally coming in handy today.

once you fixed up any last-minute preparations, you changed into another set of clothes. just on queue, you heard the door click as the clock chimed at six-o’clock. you casually made your way down the hallway, hoping this scenario would play out like you’d rehearsed in your head a million times.

when kaeya saw you standing in front of him, he stopped immediately. at first he did a double take, not thinking it was real. he’d been sleeping less— it was probably a hallucination. however, when he watched you walk towards him and cup his face in your hands, he knew it wasn’t a hallucination.

your lover wrapped his arms around your waist firmly, pulling you in for a deep kiss. it caught you off guard— although you should’ve expected a reaction like this. after being without each other for so long it’s no surprise that both of you were on the needy side.

your bodies melted against each other’s, lips moving in sync. somehow you ended up with your back against the wall, arms wrapped around his neck. kaeya’s knee slid between your legs, resting there as he took over the kiss. he would gently bite down on your bottom lip ever so often, electing a gasp out of you. testing the waters a little, he ran his tongue over your bottom lip too. you caught on and slid your tongue into the kiss too, heating up the atmosphere even more. now your tongues were brushing against each other ever so often, making the kiss a little messy at this point. messy didn’t matter right now, though. he tasted like peppermint and sweets, and his lips felt like heaven. that’s all that mattered.

“what are you doing here?” kaeya asked breathless as he pulled away from the kiss. his forehead rested against yours as you both tried to catch your breath.

“i wanted to surprise you for your birthday,” you let out a shaky laugh as you tried to regain your composure. your head was spinning right now, and your body felt like it was on fire. “i convinced my boss to let me do the rest of the trip from home. i’m here now.”

kaeya was at a loss for words. he’d been dreading his birthday for months because he’d been thinking he was going to spend it alone. he was never a fan of his birthday, but spending it without the love of his life was an even more miserable thought. however, here you were standing in front of him.

guess birthday wishes do come true afterall.

Ok me and a friend got talking and. heres (some of) the things I personally would do if tasked with rewriting Mystreet.

[very brief mentions of Katelyn, Garte + the Lycan parents :>]

Im totally stealing this idea from @bread--squid--uwu but Aph's name is Aphrodite now. Makes sense with the guys all being into her, still keeps the nickname, makes sense for Sylvanna etc

Reducing the ages. It makes noooooo sense to me that theyre all like, 35. They're fresh out of college, like 21-23.

Magic would either be a big part of the world building or removed entirely. Not a fan of the soft magic system. If removed, Lucinda would be a more like, herbs + the moon kinda witch you know? She also likes DnD

knowing more about peoples backstory! Laurance in particular has such little clarification on his family and upbringing

We get to know about all the shady goings on of the Ro'Meave household because theres no way Garte is a good man i do NOT trust him

Katelyn + Travis don't get back together

Aphmau goes to a different college to the others and meets Aaron (max of 2 years older) there because I'd personally like it more if the rest of the group didn't know him beforehand! That way Gar and Laur are able to be upset with the idea of him. I like the idea that they get so in their own heads that they plan out a whole argument that Aaron just. doesn't take the bait on at ALL and they realise that maybe theyre in the wrong for jumping to conclusions.

The ultima Werewolf thing would have to be totally revamped idc. I dont remember how its explained in the show, but I like the idea of it being a curse on the family possibly by Lucinda's ancestors. (Melissa + Lucinda could have a moment too!)

KC has like a common Japanese name because it reflects her fear of being forgettable (?). Also she is actually asian

CHARACTERS HAVE LAST NAMES. Except for Lucinda because again, I want the magic to be more prevalent and I think its cute that shes kinda the odd one out

Zane is Autistic and its discussed! I want Garroth to learn to respect his boundaries

On the same note, Garroth and Zane actually make up. I think Zane and Laurance being worsties is fun but the brothers need to be on neutral ground at LEAST.

Aaron is introduced early on. I don't really care how, but him being introduced half way into season 1 is partly the reason Aarmau is so rushed

People have identities. Not everyone needs an exploration or a label, but at the very least, Katelyn is Bisexual throughout the series and Garroth, Laurance, Melissa, Lucinda and Teony are some flavour of gay

Teony is more relevant. she doesn't have to be in the main group but I'd love to see her more like she works at the mall or smthn

The Garroth/Laurance/Aph dynamic changes majorly. They still constantly are trying to one-up each other by sweeping her off her feet but its more playful than anything serious. They get super competitive abt it but its still a but of fun. Whether she likes either of them isn't important. What is, though, is that Gar + Laur are absolutely unknowingly competing for eachother's attention. Maybe theres a cringy little moment where theyre like, "Well I would take her to get SUSHI!" "well I would- wait I LOVE sushi!" you know what I mean? also they actually have a conversation about the kiss at the play instead of just incoherently screaming (theres also some of that tho)

The Lycan family dont get a redemption arc

Dante and Aphmau need something because they could be sooo good but their dynamic is lacking so theyre cousins now. Maria and Sylvanna are sisters or something i dont know.

Also, Gene doesnt have that weird thing going on with Aph in high-school. He's now her friend who gives her a twix sometimes and hisses at Ivy

Totally biased but Id really want Garroth and Laurance's queerness explored. If its a first for either or both of them, how they feel about it, how they're navigating it. I want them coming out to not be a big deal but I want it to be a realisation.

I dont remember who came up with this but Laurance had Cadenza dye his hair ginger for a while because he wanted to feel like part of the new family? adorable. love it. Also Caleb doesnt exist purely because he throws a wrench in the adoption thing

The street has a name. I dont care what but it has a name

Id do something different with the maid cafe, not sure what yet. I dont think Aph would own it, though.

Aphmau's character is more of what it was in season one. Like the girl you call when youre drunk at 2am and she makes sure you get home safe and then brings you sweets kinda vibe? shed get you out of a tough situation

Aaron + Aphmaus relationship is a more relaxed version of what it was in season one, too. They can be romantic or platonic, but they like watching movies and teasing each other not. doing whatever they do in s3 and onwards.

PEOPLE SAY SORRY.

Dante & Travis: The Show is a podcast that Dante and Travis run twice a week. Its world renowned (16 regular viewers)

Garroth is british. Britain exists in this universe and any towns/cities/villages Jess named are somewhere within the USA

Laurance characters get consistent colour pallets.

Dante is trans literally just so i can fight off Squid's Two minute Two Dick Dante agenda (/j)

literally no one asked but here’s a non-exhaustive list of things i would tweak to make ouat more...bearable

no magical rape. just. none.

i would say milah becomes captain hook instead, but since this is once we’re talking about after all, i’ll settle for this: milah is more well-rounded and gets to rest peacefully, and cs takes more time to develop and grow their relationship and the writing doesn’t suffer for overestimating how well one (1) ship can carry an entire ensemble show (spoiler alert: it can’t. and if there is a ship that can, it’s not this one)

on that note, killian gets a better or at least more consistent redemption arc

rumple stays dead after 3a

subsequently, belle or snow become the dark one. no i will not elaborate.

whether or not she gets a storyline like that, belle is allowed to develop as a character and move on from that relationship

snowing are…better people skfsafh

snow’s flaws are center stage and she gets a lot of development and character analysis (and maybe an evil arc? see above) because despite being annoying as fuck she’s actually one of the most interesting characters to me

there is either no Magic Soulmate Tattoo to push outlaw queen, OR when marian comes back, she and robin just go to live their lives and instead of being a dick about it, regina is just heartbroken and now has to examine what role “destiny” or “fate” or whatever actually play in her life and what her happy ending really is

also zelena gets a different ending idc what as long as she does not end up annoying me with her presence for 4 more seasons

ruby and mulan end up together (OR aurora and mulan because philip doesn’t come back. whichever floats ur boat.)

no frozen storyline at the height of the movie’s popularity because JESUS CHRIST. do a proper snow queen retelling instead. ingrid can stay.

1) "Next, Tyler Seguin,” the producer says, flipping to the next slide as the team flips over to the next page of their packet, “He’ll probably be good for some drama.”

Jamie studies the picture, the stats--6′1, as good looking as all the rest of them, a bartender in Boston. Loves dogs, hockey, and having a good time. He’s grinning in the picture, smirking a little. He looks like every other ex-athlete fuckboy Jamie’s seen come and go over his seasons as a producer on the Bachelor and Bachelorette.

“Are we thinking villain edit?” another producer asks. Jamie doesn’t have seniority to say it, but he’s already thinking the no as the producer says,

“No, unless things change. Just some excitement--add some chaos in.”

Jamie agrees. He’s gotten to be a decent judge of character, or at least figuring out who’s going to be the kind of person who’s insufferable to the producers and always ordering them around and thinking that they’re there to serve the contestants, and who isn’t. Tyler Seguin looks like many things, but there’s no malice in those laughing brown eyes.

“And next,” the producer goes on, and Jamie flips the page, quickly. So Seguin’s got pretty eyes. He’s seen plenty of pretty eyes come and go.

2) Tyler goes on the Bachelorette partly on a whim, partly because it seems like fun, partly because his Insta deserves more followers, and partly as a way out of--well, as a change.

In any case, no one is surprised. “This seems inevitable, yeah,” Brownie told him, with a noise that’s a laugh and a sigh put together.”

So Tyler goes on the show, and it’s cool. Like, sort of stressful, because of the whole competition thing, but the Bachelorette, Liv, is hot and fun and the rest of the guys seem chill, except for the ones who aren’t but Tyler can ignore them, and getting to hang around a pool all day and drink and hang out and work out is maybe Tyler’s idea of heaven. Or, no--if this was heaven he would have gotten to make out a little with the hot guys around him, but hey, it’s close.

3) Tyler latches on to Jamie quickly, though. Jamie’s one of the first of the crew he’s introduced to, to herd him around where they need to go, and Tyler is incapable of not trying to make friends with people, so he starts chatting with him or whatever, and Jamie mumbles something back, and Tyler thinks that that’s that--that he doesn’t like Tyler and it’s a pity because Tyler’s into the whole big dude big eyes thing Jamie’s got going on, but Tyler’s not going to force his presence on anyone.

Then it’s a few days later, and Tyler’s feeling a little tired, already. He loves it, he does, but--it’s a lot, and he’s hungover and the other dudes are getting into a shouting match about something and he’s standing nearby watching and it’s all getting to be a lot, and then he feels someone appearing next to him, which is a feat for how big Jamie is.

“You can take a sec,” Jamie says, and he’s not mumbling now.

“What?” Tyler asks, turning and smiling instinctively. Jamie’s watching him, with those big eyes that look...well, kind.

Jamie glances at his feet, then back up. “Cameras aren’t on you all the time. You can take a break, you know. Go get some sleep or something.”

Tyler raises his eyebrows, but he’s grinning. “Are you supposed to be saying that? Shouldn’t you be encouraging me to go do shit?”

Jamie shrugs, doesn’t quite meet Tyler’s eyes. “I’ll make sure the cameras don’t bother you.”

It could maybe be the producers trying to manipulate Tyler, or some shit like that, but--Tyler doesn’t think so. There’s something about Jamie that makes it impossible to think so. Jamie radiates Good Guy energy, in a way that Tyler doesn’t think he’s ever seen before.

“Yeah,” Tyler agrees, and punches Jamie’s arm companionably before he goes. “Thanks, bro.”

Jamie shrugs again, like it’s nothing.

4) So after that Tyler officially adopts Jamie. Jamie...isn’t quite sure what to do with it, because Tyler should be spending his time with the other contestants, and maybe Jamie is making it up anyway, that Jamie seems to be his favorite producer. Like, sure, Tyler’s always hanging out near him, and chatting with him when he has a chance, and he’s started teasing Jamie in a way that manages to seem fun and not dickish, but he does that to a lot of people. Jamie’s sure it doesn’t mean anything. Tyler makes friends with everyone. Tyler’s one of the favorites to get into the top four or five, though he’s not favored to win. But the bachelorette seems to be charmed and amused by him, so he keeps getting that rose.

And after he gets it, sometimes he looks up, grins over at where Jamie’s watching, and if Jamie blushes sometimes, well. The lights cover that.

Tyler just likes Jamie. A lot. The dude’s quiet, and mumbles a lot, but Tyler’s been watching him and he sees how he manages the other producers and crew, how even the contestants fall in line when he starts laying down the law. He sees how once there were kids around for a date and Jamie knelt down to talk to a little girl, folding up that big muscled body to admire the picture she drew. He sees how Jamie never turns Tyler away, when he needs a break from all the filming shit, and Tyler tucks himself into a corner with Jamie to chat about nothing at all, about his dogs and Boston and Toronto and hockey and just--anything.

Also once Jamie gets water on his shirt and has to strip it off to change and Tyler sees all that, too.

It’s not like Tyler’s obsessed, or anything. He likes a lot of the contestants, even Chad, who’s getting the villain edit but isn’t like, that bad a dude. He likes a bunch of the producers too, and some of the camera people.

But somehow he always finds himself circling back to Jamie, especially after a date where he’s been charming and drinking and is so wired he feels like he’ll shake out of his skin. Jamie has a way then, of putting a hand on his arm, and Tyler can just--settle. He has a way of listening to Tyler talk about his life back home in a way that doesn’t quite feel judgmental, but does make Tyler feel like--like he’s looking at it from the outside.

Tyler learns things about Jamie, too. He learns he’s the youngest of three and he’s from Victoria and that he’s been working this job for a couple years now. He learns that he wants to be a director, someday, which he admits with a mumbling blush but Tyler kicks his foot until he looks up and tells him that it makes sense. Jamie’s good at being in charge.

He does not learn if Jamie is single or not. He tells himself that’s okay. Jamie’s a friend, a good friend, and Tyler’s for sure keeping him after the show, but. Who cares if he’s single or not? Not Tyler, that’s who.

6) A scene: Tyler, in a confessional setting. He’s wearing a bathing suit and an unbuttoned shirt over it, with a backwards baseball cap on.

“Yeah, no, I mean, I love Boston,” Tyler says into the camera. “It’s been a lot of fun, you know?” He looks over the camera, to the side. [Not pictured: Jamie, standing there, watching him. Listening].

A pause. Someone asks a question. Then, “Is it--do I want to live there forever? I don’t know. I thought so.” A look, to the same side. Steady. “I’ve been thinking recently, though, maybe I need to grow up a little? Start taking things a little more seriously. And I don’t know if I can do that in Boston.”

Another question. “What? Would I go to Liv in LA?” He chuckles, looks a little surprised. “Yeah, sure, LA sun, what’s not to love?”

7) Another moment: It’s late out, and Jamie’s waiting out the last of the contestants to go to sleep so he can go home and grab some sleep before being back on set early to prep for the date. Most of them go easily enough, but Tyler lags behind. Jamie's not surprised. He wishes he were a little less pleased.

“So you have a big night planned?” Tyler asks, leaning against the bar. He’s in his yellow bathing suit, which is maybe the douchiest set; it’s still painfully attractive. “Gonna go out on the town, once you’re rid of all of us?”

Jamie snorts. “I’m going to get some sleep.”

Tyler tsks his tongue. “Really? No big date night? Doesn’t all this want to make you fall in love?” he drawls the last words, like he’s mocking them.

“After running interference on you lot all day, who has the time?” It’s not quite true. Jamie could, probably, if he wanted to. Jordie definitely thinks so, and says so, loudly. But Jamie--he doesn’t want to. It’s hard to feel like he could, after watching all the ridiculously attractive men out there, all day. “Anyway, I’m boring, right? That’s the general opinion.”

“Boring’s not bad.” Tyler’s watching him again. “Doesn’t mean you have to stay that way, though.”

Jamie shrugs. “Makes it easier to, though.”

Tyler hums, then, all at once, he reaches behind himself to grab a bottle of tequila and two shot glasses. “Tyler!” Jamie yelps. “What are you doing?”

“Let’s do shots,” Tyler says, easy. Like that’s not--

“We can’t drink now, it’s after hours,” Jamie hisses. And then, also, “And I can’t drink anyway, that’s for contestants. And I shouldn’t be drinking with you, I’m not supposed to even fraternize with--”

“Come on, Jameson.” Tyler grins, and it’s all temptation there, smooth as silk. Wild, Jamie remembers them calling him, way back at the beginning before Jamie started to see what that wildness covered up. “Cameras are off, you’re off the clock. Take a chance.” He holds up a shot glass, smirking a little.

Jamie hesitates, but he’d like to see the person who’s strong enough to stand up to Tyler’s smile.

“One,” He says, and takes the glass. Tyler cheers, then he pours the shots, grabs salt and some limes from behind the bar too.

“You do know how to do this, right?” Tyler asks, setting it out. Jamie rolls his eyes.

“Yes, I know how to do a tequila shot,” Jamie retorts. Tyler grins again, then licks at his hand to put salt on it. His eyes are very dark, watching Jamie.

Jamie swallows, does the same. He can’t look away from Tyler, somehow. It feels like no one else exists, not the show, not the bachelorette, not all the rest of it. Just the two of them.

It’s a long, long moment. Tyler’s tongue flicks out to wet his lips, Jamie--tries not to look. Tyler’s a fun guy, of course he’s going to be fun. It’s not--anything.

“Cheers,” Jamie says at last, to break--this.

“Cheers,” Tyler replies, and tosses back the shot. Jamie does too. It burns, but maybe in a good way.

8) Tyler falls in love on a Tuesday.

He’d been feeling a little--not homesick, really, but dog sick; he misses his boys more than anything else. And he must have mentioned it to Jamie, or maybe he just talked about his boys more, or something, because he comes downstairs one day and there’s just a dog there, a few of the other guys who are up huddling around him and petting him.

Tyler follows the leash up to Jamie’s hands, blinks. “Are they yours?” he asks, a little dumbstruck.

Jamie shrugs, glances away, and blushes a little, like he’s been doing more of since that night Tyler had talked him into taking a shot. “He’s my brother’s, technically, but he said I could borrow him. I thought it might do you some good--all of you,” he adds, too quickly, but Tyler knows that’s not what he meant. Jamie brought in the dog, for Tyler, because Tyler had been feeling shitty; like he’d always done the little things to make Tyler feel better, like he’d known what Tyler needed.

“Um, thanks,” Tyler mutters, because he doesn’t know what else to say, and crouches down to greet the dog--Juice, Jamie tells him--properly. It’s easier than looking at Jamie. Jamie is--it’s too much. Tyler hadn’t come on the show to find love.

9) Tyler makes it to hometowns, brings the show to meet his family and his dogs, and actually insists that Jamie come along to. Jamie doesn’t meet anyone’s eyes when another producer mentions it. It’s--fine.

He continues to be fine as Tyler is lovely and sweet with his mom and sisters, as Tyler is adorable with his dogs, as he introduces Liv to each of them in turn. The cameras go on Liv and Tyler’s mom for a little, so then Tyler drags Jamie over, introduces him to each of the dogs too. All of them--humans and dogs alike--clearly love him.

Jamie gets the feeling.

10) Tyler’s eliminated after home towns.

Liv pulls him aside, after. “Sorry,” she says, and Tyler shrugs. He likes her, but he can’t really pretend that he’s cut up about this. He’s pretty bummed about how going home means he can’t hang out with Jamie anymore, but he’ll get his phone back, so they can talk.

“No hard feelings,” he tells her. “I hope you’ll be happy.”

She grins, a little knowing. “You too, Tyler,” she says, all sincerity, and glances over his shoulder, where the producers are standing. “I’m pretty sure fraternization rules are over once you’re eliminated, you know.”

Tyler smirks. Of course everyone knew. He’s not capable of being subtle. “You are honestly an amazing woman,” he informs her, and kisses her goodbye.

11) Jamie’s not surprised that Tyler stops by to say good-bye before he leaves. He’s probably doing it for everyone. He’s a little concerned--Tyler hadn’t seemed too devastated by being eliminated, but you never know. Tyler’s decent at hiding what he’s feeling for the cameras.

He’s ready to express that, when Tyler knocks on his hotel room door. Except Tyler doesn’t look devastated. He looks--nervous.

“Everything okay?” Jamie asks, as he lets Tyler into his room. Tyler turns around a little, looking at it--he’s never been here, Jamie guesses. Contestants wouldn’t. But Tyler doesn’t look like a contestant anymore, in just sweatpants and a tank top, his hair a little messy. It’s too messy for TV, but it’s a good look. Somehow, it makes him look older.

“Yeah. Or, I think so.”

“I’m sorry, about the elimination--”

“Don’t be.” Tyler turns to face him. “Look, tell me if I’m off base here, but--”

Jamie’s about to ask him about what, but then Tyler’s kissing him.

It takes Jamie a second to get on board, then of course he kisses back. How could he not? Tyler is wild in his arms, pushing, devouring, and Jamie feels wild too, his hands in Tyler’s hair, on his hips.

They break apart infinitely later. Tyler’s definitely messy now. “Fuck, yeah,” Tyler says, and looks like he’s about to fist pump. “I knew you’d be awesome at that.”

Jamie’s too dazed to give him shit for that. “What--really?” he asks, and Tyler snorts.

“You had to have guessed. I’m not subtle, man.”

“I--I didn’t think you could--there’s all the contestants, and Liv, and--”

“And you,” Tyler cuts off, and slides his arms around Jamie’s shoulders. “You’re just as hot as the rest of them, you know.”

“I’m really not.” Jamie’s okay with that.

“You are.” Tyler smirks then. “Want me to prove it?”

Jamie really, really does.

My thoughts so far. vvv

I noticed some fans quit TWD early on like in s6 and they mentioned the flaws. They have good points and all. I wondered why I kept watching TWD. I think because it’s just one of the cool shows to watch on Sundays, and just loving the TF. I also think if I’m more critical of the show, I would probably quit the show around s3 or s6 too. Idk if it’s comic story way that made people lose interest or it’s the writing. Like a lot people miss the team family being really close and trying to survive..or on the road and not staying in one place. These comments are like what the comic-fans say too about the comics. So idk. Like it’s just how TWD story goes. Building up to a new world ..arc. (like Falling Skies show?) So, my point is that I didn’t quit back then because I just like the show and I was also was like hoping the show could turn around. I liked s6B. I find it interesting that Carol went to Kingdom and dealing with her issues. Richonne happend and Negan was introduced. (big character in comics) I was curious how it will go and I was curious what Carl will do. I know s7 and s8, the fandom didn’t like those seasons-AOW arc. I kinda don’t like it either. It was so dragged out and less TF. But I still like the show. I still feel hopeful that it will go better.

When Carl died (and he wasn’t like comic-Carl-y, imo like I hoped for) that was hard, but I was like okay so then it’s Rick’s show and I guess Michonne will live longer. AOW ended in s8. S8B was entertaining to me, imo. But I hated the finale and what they did with Carol. The finale should have been like or even better than the s2 finale and tease us the f*** with what will happen and excite us. (remember Michonne first appearance and prison. s3 also had a time jump) Then we got a new showrunner and news about LC and with the finale being so blah & hard to predict, I was like uhh it’s 50/50 chance of the show being better than before. Maybe more Team Family moments? I was still hopeful. We got those spoiler pics of TWD cast like they’re in a parade and them going to the “museum.” I got so excited again and hopeful but a bit conscious about it because Idk what s9 was. Then suddenly we got the AL news of him leaving ( and then LC). I just felt crushed. We lost Carl and now we’re losing Rick, the two big protagonists of the show. That’s just quick and weird. Also totally seems pointless for the show to keep going,imo. (but hey at least Rick got like 2 years of bliss/timejump). I know he wanted to leave some day (duh actors arnt robots) but I wasn’t expecting how it goes like that and it’s just not what I want. I wanted this popular show to end where they wanted it to end. Like Lost, Scandal, Fringe, GoT, etc. But no...show business..life happens or whatever, AMC wants more money. So yeah I lost hope on the show - I quit with this show. So this is why I kept going till s9, I guess. It’s whatever whenever is enough for you. Now I look back on it, it’s really around s5-6 when we feel like TWD is Team Family like and good or fun to watch. There’s some things I liked about TWD that other shows don’t have. Like this slow pace..that feels realistic sometimes, the music, and cast. But seeing other shows, I’m like wow ..we know who are the main characters are and they interact a lot throughout the series. It’s sad. I miss TF.

So yeah I just take s9 as an AU story where Rick dies. -_- I hope Caryl goes canon but well the show is like done to me. So Idk. I would watch or care..if Caryl goes canon and everything else is interesting and TF being close again. Like it’s gonna be Carol and Daryl ..Michonne? and rest are Negan, Aaron, Rosita, Eugene and Tara. meh. It’s hard what do with this. In time I know. So far, s9 just sucks. C/E is gonna be or is canon. I just like siiiigh. I wish Carol isn’t with anyone in s9. I want to know who is Carol in the future and have her with TF again. But it’s not that. Carol with Zeke for some reason. Idk why tease Caryl in s8 and not make C/E canon in s8???? Maybe Carol is just to prop Zeke story and comic death in s9??? That’s another thing. There’s this original TWD show story and characters’ arcs and comic book remixes. I think what we want is balance of those two. But lately s7 and on it’s all super plot-y or super comic book-plot-y. So maybe Zeke dies and then Carol helps Daryl to start the Whisperer war and then ..then what? Will we actually get more TF moments? If Caryl does become canon, will their romance be well written and interesting? (Shipping a non-canon ship to a canon ship changes the shipdom/fandom. People lose interest.)

---filming spoilers and spec in s9

So ep 5 or so, s9 filming spoilers, it’s obvious Rick dies. So right there the show isn’t gonna do a cool happy ending for Rick and the Grimes. No Grimes family off to a boat or Commonwealth. Now, I know. :( Poor Michonne. (writers totally screwed up her character-journey)

Based on spoilers, there’s a white horse (symbolism), that script paper.., Shane appearances. So yeah there’s some over the top death scene happening. Idc in some ways, because this is all AU to me. (twdspoilers4theprivileged tumblr) Based from the script paper spoiler/rumor, I noticed that Carol is there..actually the main five characters are there. It’s nice ..but once again it’s when something major happens. It seems like Rick takes the other parts of comic-Andrea’s death. He dies by trying to kill all the walkers in the herd ...to save his people(?) like Andrea did. It also seem traumatic too, our main characters are watching it as it goes. Like damn ..who wanna see that super sad and depressing death of a character in this ep. Like sure ..Rick deserve this kind of death scene and how important and special he is. But ...it’s not a series finale and writers will forget about this in a couple episodes later with Daryl dealing with Negan and Whisperers, I guess. *Also I guess Zeke wasn’t there..and others. So it’s like Zeke isn’t or still not important in the show. So ..maybe he will die from Alpha in msf or finale in s9. I just think if Zeke will be a main character, then he gotta hang out with Daryl and others,a lot. (so far he’s in ep1. so far Carol in ep 1 and 5..) Idk what Maggie will do / LC’s 6 episodes. There’s some play with time. Maybe Maggie dies in msf?

Yeah Carol so far is in ep 1 and 5. I don’t think she interacts with Rick in s9. I find it important for her to interact with him. It tells me writers remember their bond, care about the character Carol, and what they do with TF. So far, it’s seems like they don’t. This is the part that really upsets me..it’s something also that I was really hoping for in s9 and something to see if it will happen-then the rest s9 will go fine. I love Carick so ..yeah I don’t think there’s good Carick moments in s9 and I think Carol will only react about Rick’s death. Writers ..again don’t care or too lazy to deal with TF moments and Carol and her bonds with other characters. So, it’s like if writers can’t do Carick scenes so then s9/new showrunner doesn’t matter to me anymore. It’s over. Those Carick hopes or Carol hopes were all before AL news, btw. That s8 finale made me doubt.

I might accept TWD s9 and Rick’s death, if like the first 6 episodes or so was treated like a series finale and it was something writers/Gimple have in mind for a long time and that they wanted Rick to die in ‘series finale’. And then the rest be like a spin-off and plus being more character-y..good writing. But eh. We still see characters dealing with his death and other plots going on. It just won’t work, I guess. It’s really crazy to watch TWD s8 and then watch the recent season (s5) of The 100 and how much The 100 flows better, character’s arcs goes naturally well or balanced. It’s not too (comic)plotty. And ofc, there’s girls power, and character interactions. Mains still interact. That stuff that I like and interested in. I know they’re different shows. I think TWD is probably more like Falling Skies with how the story goes but it’s not really charactery..in story right now.

so! week 2 and my plan honestly is to just really still focus on my social relationships. so far, i feel very confident in my ability to connect with people on a 1 to 1 level, and at least hopefully skate through these first few weeks. consistently my problem in the game is missing out on a key group or alliance that is running more than I know. without being too chaotic and paranoid, i would really really like to try to sit here and just scope out the relationships. as for my groups! i really want to work with jennet. she's like iconic? her art is so cute and i do feel like i made a genuine connection with her early on, and i think pointing out we're some of the only award winners in the cast could bring us closer together ! plus 4th place legends... beyond jennet, i have a group with isaac and nicole, and honestly, im feeling suprisingly good about both. i think these first 6 people i mention are the ones im going to focus on most, and focus on really forming game connection wheras the rest im just socially going to really force myself into their LIVES and hope they like me! Daisy and Jarod... loves them and swifties who ive played with in the past both in a way that i feel we were unfinished. jarod got taken out in the doubles round just as we kinda connected on a game level, and then daisy and i were working together in bb netflix before it got canceled. this is really the group i want to strategize with and im really putting myself on a limb being loyal to them because i know they have options, but its a risk im willing to take because if i can be the number 1, their connections can just offer more safety and information for myself. and the final people who i kinda want to work with is captain and wiliam xavier s up there, we just havent spoken tons dont really have much of an opinion on the others? if i had to nominate right now it might be mario just because we havent spoken yet.

It's annoying to be nominated, especially by Jennet. Literally two minutes before we were talking and I was explaining how this round is played. And then Jennet nominates me. I feel betrayed. Getting my G4ce together (Greenhouse 4) so we can vote as a team. And well, well, well, I just found out that the Sequester 4 are also voting together. It is weird that they are all nominated during the Sequester round. They are targeting either Wyatt or Kaleigh. Knowing they are a team, I want one of them out, if I can swing it quietly.

HI I’m back and already went through a ton! Last round a misunderstanding / Lanie throwing me under the bus just because I said I hadn’t spoken to Nyx and Captain really set me up in a weird spot so I had to get rid of Lanie and then she said we all suck (imagine being almost 30 and telling someone who is your students age that they suck! I get it really is terrible to be blindsided but it was her fault, she played too fast! Like yell at me for not communicating properly or whatever she believed I did at that point but don’t take it out on everyone especially like the youngest player in the game!) Anyway, this round is sequester so we are all back together! I finally get to play with Daisy! I love her so much so I’m super glad we got to play, I’m very glad I get to reunite with Lindsay, I’m glad William isn’t mad at me for the whole Lanie situation and now I’m safe for the first vote! It is a very good feeling but I also feel like I should be learning from Lanie’s mistake and playing not fast so I’m trying to take a step back from talking in the house chat. I’m just so excited to see everyone but I will try to contain myself so I don’t annoy anyone. Check back in later in the round!!!

I forget the questions omg but I had a call with Jarod where he kinda threw out wyatts name as an option to go, and honestly I’m completely fine with that because even though they seem super sweet, I feel like I’m juggling enough balls and I don’t need to add them into my mix, whereas I feel a lot better about every other nominee other than Kaleigh, who I don’t think anybody would do this early My strategy is to just campaign for myself to stay to everybody and avoid throwing out names. I’m hoping that comes from Jarod or one of the safe people because they literally have the safety to get away with it

hello dr.. so i'm glad i got saved by jarod :pleading_face: he rlly said i'm gonna make captain safe no matter what happens. and thats exactly what he did :100: for ppl who are vulnerable, i want autumn, jarod and xavier to be safe the most like idc i just want 3 of them to be safe. xavier might be in a bit of trouble tho since the totem pole ppl are voting together for sure hmmm so i need to try to talk to them to sway them from voting xavier. for the plans to avoid battle match? idk i just want them to feel safe around me no matter what. so that if i end up voting them, they're not gonna be bitter at me that much. and i lowkey saved myself with wyatt since wyatt said they wanted to work with me so prays.

also, i secured an alliance with jarod, autumn and jennet. and a greenhouse alliance with mario, nyx and xavier. the latter hasn't been in the talk like with every greenhouse yet but xavier brought it up to me and i think that it should be great. so fingers crossed!

SOOOOOOOOOOOOO, going into Round 2 im having a really big struggle..... im seeing THAT I DONT DISLIKE A SINGLE PERSON ON THIS CAST, USUALLY THERE IS AT LEAST ONE BUT NOPE Also we are moving into a Sequester sorta semi safety chain with half vulnerable and half safe cast and lucky me I think Lanie either hated me the most or the least from our Survivor team and decided to give me the Karma twist which gave me safety for the round but made me have to pick the first unsafe out of the whole cast. I think my strategy was to pick someone who didn't talk to me yet (so i had a reason) as well as someone who was sorta loved by most if not all and wasn't a target for it, because I'm thinking if I just fade into the background this round no one would have a need or want to pick me for the Battlematch, i think its safe to assume whoever goes home will pick the person who made them unsafe plus like one other person, so i just have to avoid being that other 1/13 people. As for the vote i have no clue at all, I think maybe Isaac cause i haven't said much to him at all, or maybe Jarod cause i know he is hella busy and prob wont pick me to go into battle..... just not Wyatt or Blake or Kaleigh rn. So like yeah, just gonna pray, not talk around too too much, let people come to me so it doesnt seem like im pushing anyones name and hopefully vote someone i dont love out. yeah so much fun xoxo William F

So, this round is pretty confusing and difficult to navigate cause not only do we have to vote someone out we have to vote someone out and hope they don't drag us into the battleback. I'm very happy to be safe for the vote since at least then i'll have a chance to battleback in a comp. So, for this vote I can't vote Autumn since she gave me safety, I can't vote Jarod since he took one for the team, I can't vote Xavier cause of the gh alliance, I can't vote Blake due to our bonding on tau ceti, so my only real options for this vote are Isaac, Wyatt, and Kaleigh. If I had my way i'd just pile the votes on wyatt and get them out now but it's not that easy because i haven't talked as much and they could see that as incentive to drag me in. Of course all the people I just mentioned I don't wanna vote for I wanna save because that means they'll be willing to work with me to some capacity. To avoid the battle match is the hardest part cause people can be very impulsive with their decisions and heat of the moment always catches people off guard. My best bet is just not to make too many promises and to just tell the truth and hopefully that'll be enough to gain their respect.

Ok this vote is messy. It started out with Jarod and the Sequester group wanting to vote Kaleigh. They got people on board, and it looked good. Until Wyatt made that alliance chat. And of course the vote shifted to Isaac. But the Sequester group won't vote Isaac. Mario voted Autumn. Captain voted Wyatt. I am voting Kaleigh because I haven't spoken to her much. But I want the vote to go Isaac's way - it breaks up Sequester, and he won't think it was me, so safe from the battle. I love love how these tribes are split up but I’m kind of nervous about playing with people I’ve played other things with before! There was only one person I didn’t already have added and that is Daniel. I’m just going to try to stay on everyone’s good side and maybe try to get close with everyone? I think that we are going to have a strong tribe so that’s a plus!

So since this is "International" I decided to call everyone in our tribe be either their home country or town. So Clash is Richmond. Vilma is Oulu. Ginger is Israel. Allan is Scotland. I have yet to talk to Latvia but they appear as a very busy person. So it's Day 2 right now and I have just woken up. Me and Oulu stayed up 'till 6 AM last night just talking and chilling. I really like her so I hope we can make it far. I also like Richmond because that is a cool name so we established a 3-person group. Richmond insists on repeating F3 every 5 minutes which is pretty scary but I'll just disregard it for now. I am enjoying the diversity of our cast, proud to be a European seeing as the other tribes are basically just Australia and just USA. Right now I'll try to put some work into this flag I guess since nobody has taken initiative.

So its off to a relatively good start, I’ve talked with 3 other tribe members and they seem pretty cool, i got a good rapport with Tyler and Jacob especially. They also had good input into the challenge to so, yay. The other to however haven’t spoken, and we can’t blame time zones cause their like, at most an hour seperate. Be careful Sluggyg and Dylan, we lose a challenge we’ll be looking at you. I’m not gonna pm them first though, trying not to come off too needy yet, I’ll give at least some pretense of not being absolutely bonkers.

Good lookin. Nah jk. So I have to admit I was a late bloomer in terms of speaking in the group chat and I conveniently missed the people I didn't know - Tyler, Dean. I have a history with Jacob and I know Michael from a previous community so I have hit the ground running with the idea of sticking together but nothings too solidified yet so hopefully in a bit I'll find myself in a majority! The only thing Stephen said to me so far is "heyo" and "ya I teach english", so..

Ok so Hi. I hate u all why am i here. Im nervous cause im out here trying not ti be the first boot and have to have my dog comfort me while i cry to sleep. Literally shaking in slides. Everyones a bit of a hoot, all male tribe! Wowee. Just going be pals with all these kiddies. Although the flag they made is literal trash, ill be nice :)

hey boys time for my first confession that will be longer than it should be and not entertaining in the slightest so the cast reveal was interesting! i wasn’t expecting many familiar faces at all, maybe like one or two people i sort of know of. but when i saw ruthie and randy, i was honestly relieved. ruthie and i have always been good allies together in games and i love her a lot. she’s loyal and funny and smart. just overall wonderful person to play with and i’m really happy to have her here. also, seeing randy was so good too. honestly i know he has a ~rEp~ for being not the greatest, but i don’t particularly care. i feel like we’re going to get along really well in this game. the only thing that annoys me is that him talking to me at first was all like, “oh emily you’re so a good player i love you please don’t vote me out get me to merge xo” like he was purposefully inflating my ego because....... people generally think i have a big ego. and a year ago, yeah i definitely did. that’s why i lost both of my last two main season games. my ego got in the way and i got too confident, too cutthroat, too rude, too self absorbed. and so much has happened in my life, i’ve been taken down a few notches and the last thing i want is for people to think i’m a narcissist. i’ve worked on myself a lot and it’s just sad to see people treating me like this like they think it’ll guarantee me wanting to work with them. sigh. anyway, continuing with the other people: my skype app will NOT give me notifications when daniel or patrick send me messages and it’s frustrating me high key because they’ll respond two minutes after i send a message and i won’t see it for hours, even if i check the chat. new skype is ruining my social game yeah! but in general pat and daniel seem cool. only person i’m weary of is liana! i didn’t realize at first, but she’s married to chips who....... hates me LMAO! i’ve never played a game with her so here’s to hoping she doesn’t have an idea of me in her head already. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ other tribe comments: i saw vilma in a game for the first time like well over a year ago and was like i am in LOVE with her and i want to MARRY her. she’s so pretty and seems so funny and when we’re on the same tribe we WILL be best friends and if we’re not i’m THROWING HANDS!!! it has to happen. has to! i don’t think i recognizes literally anyone else? everyone is pretty much unfamiliar to me. so how i’m feeling right now: randy is really good at making flags! and confident that we’ll pull through with reward tbh. like he’s very talented. i’m gonna put together a makeshift flag too just in case it’s ugly and also to show that i’m active and here and contributing, but i doubt it’s going to be bad. and also it’s only reward! if we don’t win, i don’t mind it that much. my fear is that we end up going to tribal the first round! i don’t know how strong this tribe is in terms of challenges. i don’t know anything about liana, daniel, or patrick. i don’t remember anything about randy or ruthie when it comes to challenges either. so we’ll have to see! daniel told me he played on discord so he’s probably used to more text based challenges or flash games, which is very helpful because i’m bad at both. but from my experience, typical tumblr challenges are far different from typical discord challenges. yeah. also, randy and i shared our idol guesses and both found nothing. i went around camp -> shelter -> on top -> nothing and he went around camp -> treemail -> (uhhh something i already forgot lol) -> nothing. i’m gonna share mine with him every round as like a trust thing. idk if he’ll tell me the truth but i’ll tell him the truth! idc honestly! :p okay end of this long confession i hope you had fun reading if you read this far give me an idol clue xoxo emily (dennis remember in mongolia when i told you the exile idol was under a girl’s name) (i’m sorry)

So the reward challenge is a flag making challenge. I hate a lot of the things, but I am taking a step back since I have been told I can be controlling in the tribe stages when it comes to challenges. So I want to see how well the tribe performs without me stepping in.

Day one thoughs: Yes!!! A tribe full of people with similar time zones. Jacob and Sluggy are here, nice. UHC alliance has already been suggested... not sure how to feel. Talked to all other tribe members. Everyone seems nice... dont quite trust Tyler yet... seems shifty Reward challenge: Not a fan of original design. Spent a bit of time working on another design... which i had more time to make it better. Seems to be good enough, will see what tribe says. Idol search round one: nothing

So i finally got to talk to everyone on the tribe. Tyler seems rlly friendly and talkative which kinda draws me towards him. Stephen is more analytical and observant... Dean is just the passive, looks on and watches kinda guy. Both Stephen and Dean want to be or are writers so. One thing great about working with Stephen would be someone people target as a strategic threat instead of me - but I don't know if I'll be able to work well with him atm...

Okay I was gonna wait until after the immunity challenge to do my first confessional but I am DYING. So Veni is making our flag (which honestly I'm not too sure about but I'm awful at art so I can't really say anything) and he asks for pictures to use in it. So I send him a picture of me sitting on a throne, which I took at a bar near me. and this bitch..... Goes "It's like ghetto Game of Thrones, I love it!" BITCH!? Ghetto? Honestly this guy needs to take it down a notch because he's trying way too hard to take control of the reward challenge and is being super bossy and I think people aren't gonna take that for much longer.

As for the first day of this season I’m loving it so far. Loving the activity and positivity in our tribe and people here are very friendly. Already have started conversation with Clash, Vilma and Ginger. Trying to develop early relationships that will be necessary for the rest of the game. Just need to show activity in tribe chat so my tribe mates not see me as an inactive player because inactive players are usually the first one out.

So we won the reward challenge and we get a firemaking kit, and inside there's an immunity idol clue. Jacob and Stephen both get it, and Jacob told me it was hidden at the beach. I have no clue if he is lying or not, but if he isn't it means God was right to tell me yesterday that it is at the beach. Now i just need to be the first one to search the next time around.

So we won the reward challenge! Great. The morale seems fairly high amongst our tribe. I've had conversations with pretty much everyone in some way. No talk of strategy or alliances have begun, from what I'm aware. I hope we win this challenge, because I feel good about this tribe.

I mean, can I not flop this first challenge ? I feel like this tribe is a very good mix of people, chemistry is there so now we just need not to be total failures ! hehe

After all the bonding I love this tribe, Dean is a lot more reserved than the rest of the tribe and hasn't approached me yet, but everyone else has talked. I've got a nice alliance with Michael and Sluggy, as well as some trust with Tyler and Stephen. After Michael won us the firemaking challenge I found the idol clue. Once everyone has used their firemaking advantage, I'll decide who I share the clue with. So far I have told Sluggy and then Stephen got the clue. All Giraffes Deserve Kisses.

Usually I wouldn’t mind going to the first tribal, but with 6 people all it takes is one misstep to be the target, and I don’t want to risk that. That being said if it does come down to that i think Jacob, Tyler and I will stick together, all we need is one more than that.

So, Emily and I are working together to try to find the idol! Which is exciting, hopefully one of us will find it. If I do I’m pretty sure I’ll tell her because it will show that I trust her?!! I talk to her and Randy the most on our tribe and I really don’t know where I stand with everyone else

Right. So we’ve just won the immunity challenge but all the rats on my team did well so it doesn’t give us an easy target for any upcoming tribals. I got some T from Michael letting me know that both Jacob and Dean found the clue to the hidden immunity idol and they told him but not me. First off rude considering I told Jacob I’d tell him if I found it. I’m in an uncomfortable situation already on this tribe, I feel like i don’t have as strong of connections as everyone else and it’s scaring me. All I need is two friends to guarantee my safety and it’s looking like those friends will be Michael and The kid from Singapore (don’t remember his name oops). This season feels different, I usually feel powerful but Rn I feel like I’m having to push to navigate my way into relationships with people. Also some of these guys on my drive give off the arrogant and cocky vibe and I hate it.

Only one in my tribe to win a challenge, got the r/ultrahardcore alliance, everyone knows the idol clue because Michael got looser lips than Mia Khalifa.

I *think* we're voting Emils? I mean he's been the least active and from I've been told he has not talked to people much (including me) so. I hope it goes well. Usually I am pretty calm in the survivors I play but goddamn I am paranoid. Maybe since I am enjoying myself so much so I don't want to go yet?

So I re-read my Fairy Survivor S2 stuff I wrote pre-game and goddamn if I am not a broken record. I am basically doing the same thing this time I love it lol. I do hope the experience I got in the year and a half between those has taught me valuable lessons.

Okay so the first round is almost over. Thankfully my tribe was able to win immunity because I am not ready for tribal that's for sure! These small tribes freak me out. But...if we do end up going to tribal I am ready because I FOUND AN IDOL! I'm a little skeptical because it was way too easy and so I'm scared everyone has an idol but we shall see. I'm really terrible at games in the beginning because I hate awkward small talk so I was definitely scared of tribal. I'm not in any alliances yet but hopefully that is because it is still early. I'm trying to prove myself an asset and I was glad I did great at that shark game. It was very challenging to play because I had my baby smashing my keyboard or mouse and closing out of the game in the middle of playing, ahhaha.

Day 2: Won Reward challenge!! WOOT!! All that effort wasn't for naught. The /r/ultrahardcore alliance was made between Sluggy, Jacob and myself... Im not sure how I feel about this. Immunity challenge announced, Flash games while I'm at work. FUCK FLAPPY BIRD I can do this Hextris and Shark game... I will submit one of these. Fire lighting challenge, I fail at striking a light. Sluggy and Jacob tell me that Jacob has an Idol Clue, it is apparently on the beach. Continue my chats with everyone. Dean also tells me about the Idol clue, either its on the beach and people trust me or there is an alliance that is fabricating stories. Work out everyone but Tyler knows about the clue so I tell him Gained Tyler's trust End day 2 Day 3: We win Immunity, YES!!! I spent the day continuing to build relationships. Mention to Jacob the Tyler doesnt think he likes him and to win Tyler's trust Jacob told Tyler about the clue, but it seems to only further distrust as he waited so long to tell him about it. This could have made Tyler distrust me more as well... Working with Jacob could be dangerous down the line. /r/UHC needs a 4th... Dean and Tyler's names are suggested. Trash talk hosts in tribe chat all day. Im worried my chattiness may put a target on my back, will need to be careful. End Day 3

HI I'M VILMA AND I'M VERY EXCITED TO PLAY I also suck at making confessionals because they take a lot of effort for my Finnish speaking ass so I like to just copy bits from my host chat, be prepared Right off the bat I was confused because I didn't get cast with anyone I would've played with before. I recognized a few familiar faces but most people I have no frame of reference for. This meant I couldn't rely on riding with any pre game relationships and I had to actually socialize with people. Thank god we didn't have a one world phase this time around so I only had to keep up with five other people! It's been super quiet around camp though and it makes me feel paranoid, but I hope it'll be an easy first vote. Veni wants me to make a chat with him and Ginger so we could solidify we make it through next round if we end up having to go to tribal again. My issue is I think Clash and Ginger are closer than they seem and I'm scared if we made a chat without Clash and he found out about it he could become angry. That's why i'd rather it to be a four-way chat between me, Veni, Clash and Ginger but we shall see what happens in the next few hours I guess.

Okay that went perfectly. Ngl when Ginger was like "someone doesn't know it's them tonight" I FREAKED. Then my name gets written down at tribal and I was like ????. I mean luckily it wasn't me but god that was scary. I really hope we win this next immunity I can't deal with that stress rn lmao. I also have no clue who I'd vote out. Also in other news, Chase is cute af! I'm gonna be so embarrassed when he leaves and is able to read this but it's true. I definitely wanna keep him around for a bit lmao.

ok so today’s edition of what-manhwa-should-i-read-while-i’m-sitting-in-my-bed-post-wakeup was antinomy (more specifically the 6 translated ch out and then the rest of the like 50 ch of raws) and bruh. truly what i imagine kdramas to be since i don’t actually watch them

it was intriguing from the translations so i decided to check out the raws bc i don’t like waiting if i have all the shit right there but tbh i’m not too sure if i’m gonna follow the translations now that i’ve caught up on the raws.

i got more interested in the side pairing than the main once the side was introduced? i mean yeah from my vague understanding of the raws due to a lack of korean knowledge it’s implied they’re like adopted siblings and it’s also kind of an abusive relationship compared to the main but ALSO why did you give us nothing for them? i was interested to get more for that pairing and the author kind of did give us stuff w the flashback but also idc about the gratuitous smut from the main, it gets tiring after a bit

also re: the main, i don’t feel too strongly abt them. i think i would need translations for this bc i think it does get covered but idk why blondie falls for brown haired dude

still lol at the red herring they pulled w the black haired dude. first intro he’s hella sus and even when fox (who i’m assuming is the pink haired dude) gets sort of introduced you’re still like ‘well either one or both of them were directly involved in the brown haired dude’s accident (and yeah i should know these names but i’m so bad at remembering korean names) but regardless black haired dude has to be involved at least indirectly. but fucking turns out (spoiler but also i may be wrong since idk korean) that it was all fox’s doing ?? i was honestly yelling when they fully revealed it was him and why he pulled that shit bc it’s sort of cliche but also i was still surprised somewhat. but anyway the later ch of season 2 (?) were so kdrama-like i was like ‘bruh...’

a lil confused abt blondie’s powers bc i feel like they got dropped like a few ch into the story slash were like a forgotten detail in the present time story? like if he can read minds ... couldn’t he solve the mystery of who fucked w the brown haired dude in the past p early on? bc i’m sure black haired dude and/or fox should have at least some thoughts abt it in brown haired dude’s presence. unless those 2 are ALSO ppl he can’t read the minds of? idk i just never saw anything that looked like mind reading to me so i’m assuming it was dropped but also is it gonna be a detail that’s gonna be delved more into later? unless the author is just gonna treat as a fact of life rather than any deeper special power or whatever, then that would kind of suck.

anyway i’m kind of surprised there’s gonna be a s3, but also i was like ‘what abt the drama they’re filming’ upon reading the last ch of s2 so i guess they’re gonna try to finish that up and then add in getting-outed drama to keep the story going. tbh i hope the ship of black haired dude/fox comes back even if fox is kind of messed up and also prob in jail for the rest of the story.

otherwise idk abt following the translations, the story’s not particularly intriguing to me aka not something i’m eager to find out exactly what’s going on like idk penthouse xxx. and even if i do like black haired guy/fox, i’m not particularly into the couple dynamics in this story so lmao

So the bad news is I found out Drew has been hardcore dropping my name since the game started and I thought we were cool but it's fine snakes will be snakes. I think he's a little shook about my at bat (me having won 1/3 games I've played) cause he's hinted at how crazy that is. SO we need to slay this lip sync so we both live but on the off chance we lose, things are gonna kick into high gear. I've only seen one season of Survivor (HvHvH) but Tyler convinced me to watch Kaoh Rong and let me just say that has shed some light on things. Voting Jacob? Will always be there. Sending another fan out? No problem. Voting long-term? Now that's not a bad idea. So when I said, "What if we got Drew out?" Eddie was all ears. Obviously this is super early and under wraps BUT between the two of us we can make it happen. The key is Tyler and Jake so if we can get them we have a guaranteed majority. It all comes down to timing and the pitch. This is our best chance to clock Drew and whoever fails the vetting process will be left out. If Eddie says that whenever someone takes a shot at Drew they can't afford to miss and that has to be a blindside, then this plan has to be airtight. I volunteered to do the music video since I was a film major and have professional editing software. It puts a good deal of pressure on me because if we lose it looks like I really dropped the ball. However, I’m hoping that my attempts to organize us and edit the entire thing will earn me some respect and points from my tribe. It’s a bit frustrating getting ideas out of everyone. Nobody seems to want to volunteer thoughts or contribute to the brainstorming and we don’t have much time at all to get this done.

First challenge on a new tribe and we lost. WHOOP DE DOO. Im going to try and find an in with the favs and hopefully stick with them. Saying how I have no allegience in this game. Also I keep forgetting that I can idol hunt so Im just casually at level 4 still I think. Ill probably look in the morning. But what were we thinking with Great Balls of Fire. That song is iconic and now that Tyler won he has chances of getting an in with people, but I want him gone Obviously no can do since I am not on his tribe anymore. So we lost the lip sync. I had to apply lipstick for the first time so that was fun. Sadly one of us has to go home and my guess is it's either Heather, Trixie or Vi unless me or another favorite is getting targeted secretly. I need Heather and Trixie in the game if i'm being honest, mainly due to Trixie having rumors spread about her on the OG Admirador tribe and I wanna see if I can mess around with that. Then Heather was saying that people on the OG Admirador tribe were being fake to her, and she also told me Tyler got paranoid due to Heather not responding to Tyler's messages. So I hope Tyler makes it past merge, because I can work with paranoia. For those who don't know I'm trying a villainy thing and it's probably gonna fail miserably and I'm gonna look like a dumb fuck but I was the hero on my season and I wanted to try villainy out. I'm not good at long confessionals I apologize I feel like i'm the kid in the class presentation who speaks in a monotone voice and makes everyone fall asleep.

So like this is bad for the fans, I feel like the faves will just band together and take the easy vote route, I need to socialise today. I need to just make strong social bonds and make sure people want to keep me around. I wanna act dumb and want them to think I am a free number for them. I like Drew and feel like he will be loyal to me, I am no 100% sure what Mitch and Autumn will do but I feel like they will keep me over Jake and Tyler if we end up going to tribal.

Well look at that I got added to a new alliance chat...! Autumn added me, Tyler, and Eddie to an alliance and we named it "Keyboard Smashers" and um I like everyone in it but I also like Drew...so I'm gonna protec him! If we lose and we're still on the same tribe I think I'd want to vote out Mitch since he hasn't made any efforts to talk to me individually. It's a shame bc I think we'd have a lot in common, but oh well! Tbh I have a feeling that we're gonna swap into 3 tribes of 5 next round...my psyche is telling me this...and I'm always right! But I hope I'm wrong because I feel like I'm in a really good position on this tribe and I'm scared to swap on a tribe with people from the other tribe because I think Heather and Vi wouldn't work with me, neither would the faves on the other side. We just did THAT and I'm happy for it. I've not gotten the chance to be as much if a social butterfly as I would like because my work situation is still adjusting, so if I can keep staying safe until merge that would be highly appreciated. I think there are only like two tribal challenges I've ever lost in Athena. Bonus points because it was the music video challenge so you know my ass floated by and gave it all of ten minutes of thought, but we had a damn savant on the tribe! I love it when tribe swaps work out well for me. People were expressing all this sadness for Trixie and Vi going to their fifth tribal in a row and I'm just sitting here like listen, any goddamn time someone wants to take my seat at tribal and give me the night off, they're welcome to it. Denise Stapley is a cute look on some people, I guess. I'm just fine over here with my Cirie Fields kickback realness, I don't need tribal council, y'all can wait until FTC to give me a torch as far as I'm concerned.

What's the haps? Stress, angina, and crippling anxiety. Anyway. We won immunity which I'm real happy about because I can nOT go to tribal council. I absolutely refuse to lose and I'm really hoping I just make it to merge without attending a tribal council. For some reason I feel like I will I will either go to like the tribal before merge and leave at the first tribal I attend or I will make it to merge without losing and I will be merge boot. I really am happy because I feel like if we went to tribal council Drew would have targeted Autumn which is something I am SOOOO against. I literally sold my soul to that girl and that's who I'm riding with for the rest of the game. So because I love ha so much I kind spilled the beans to her about Drew targeting her. I feel like really bad about it though cause I do consider Drew a close friend but for some reason I'm really having a hard time trusting him. I just feel like he's only with me until he doesn't need me anymore and then he'll totally see me for the threat that I am and take me out. I feel so bad about it but I just feel like it's what I needed to do to show Autumn that I trust her and have her back. Because of that I think Autumn would've gone after Drew and I feel like I would've had to pick a side and I really just can't vote Drew out yet njvjsdfkdnsjk. I would literally feel terrible about it cause I usually don't turn on my close allies pre-merge but if he goes after Autumn then I have no other choice. As I'm typing this I'm beginning to wonder why I didn't just tell Drew that I didn't want to vote Autumn out. Maybe he would've said ok we can target somebody else. Why don't I trust him enough to say that? Hmm idk I'm just so on edge. So a 4 person alliance was created and I'm soooooo happy. MY first alliance in this game! I finally feel have something I can maybe rely on and trust for a bit. It includes Autumn, Jake, and Tyler all of which I LOVEEEEE. Like omg this is my dream alliance I'm screaming. If we stick together we at least have enough to tie it. But who knows what will happen. I'm watching you JAKE >.>

RWBY V5, CH7 Review: Rest and Resolution

(Repost Form My Now Defunct Review Blog)

We made it to the halfway mark ladies and gents! So it’s been a crazy few chapters, huh? Team RWBY’S partial reunion, Raven, the upcoming attack on Haven, Blake’s troubles with Ilia and Menagerie, it’s been insane so far. I think that it’s time that we had a breather. A calm before the storm, so to speak. Fortunately, this chapter delivers that and more. So let’s get into it.

Overview

We begin in the house where RWY and JNR are having dinner. Not gonna lie, the food looks AMAZING and it makes me hungry. They are all currently catching up for lost time, discussing their individual journeys since the end of Volume 3. There’s some good bits such as Yang pointing out how RNJR kept losing the map, Weiss summoning the Boarbatusk to freak out Nora, and Yang and Nora’s arm wrestling match. Just… just the arm wrestling match. I wasn’t sure what I was expecting, but it was glorious. It’s just a ton of light-hearted fun that calls back to the Beacon Days. Nora being Nora, Ruby being cheery and annoying Weiss due to it, Yang laughing and just having fun. It’s small things, but after two years, seeing the groups together again and just… being kids is a relief. They deserve to be happy, and it made me happy.

What I also love is the next part. Jaune feels sick and walks off, with Yang calling back to hos old ‘vomit boy’ nickname WAAAY back in Volume 1. Which also leads to an Ice Queen callback for Weiss. But Ren calls attention to those, pointing out how they’ve all changed. The RWY girls, looking back, fully admit their mistakes. Ruby’s reckless behavior in the entry exam to prove her worth, Weiss’ entire snooty behavior, and Yang’s tendency for being overly violent such as in the Yellow trailer. Jaune also feels… ashamed of how he acted, notably more bitter about it than the girls. Could be how he was a moron who couldn’t perform even Huntsman basics, how he forged his transcripts, about how he never noticed Pyrrha’s affections, how he failed Pyrrha, or even all of it. Regardless, Ren points out that the fact that they all can look back and recognize how stupid they were shows that they’re not the same as hey were before. They have grown, matured, and become all the stronger due to it. The fact that Ren’s the one to voice that, and he was previously voiced by Monty, honestly hit me hard. In a way, it’s like Monty saying that about how far his character shave come. Mind you Monty is sadly gone, but his brother saying the lines still echoes how, to me, Monty would feel about the characters that he created. It’s good for character growth and it shows us just how far we’ve come since Volume 1. It’s a lovely moment, I liked it!

But it can’t stay happy for long, unfortunately. Now we go into the living room where everyone ha exchanged information. Weiss confirms to Ozpin that the info he shared is similar to Raven’s… but Yang points out one very key difference. Ozpin failed to mention the bird thing. When called out, Ozpin confirms it, even saying that Raven must trust her daughter a great deal to share that detail. I… doubt that’s why. It was mroe of a manipulative tactic to make Yang question who to side with. And while Ozpin is lighthearted, even jokey, about the entire thing, everyone else (minus Qrow) is shocked. Yang gets outright angry, asking how Ozpin could do such a thing. Gonna be honest, when watching this I… didn’t get why this was being made out to be a horrible thing. I got that it was unnatural even for this world since Aura and Semblance shave explanations, so it doesn’t count as magic but something a person can do. IDK if Yang knows about Qrow’s Bad Luck Semblance, but she does know of Raven’s portals, so she knows that Raven should NOT be able to become a bird via natural means. Rewatching the episodes for the review, it’s more clear to me that Raven made it out to seem like she and Qrow got forced into it and it had consequences. I don’t doubt the last part, even if we don’t know it yet, but I guess Raven’s wording and demeanor is why Yang felt like Ozpin did something horrible to her mother and uncle.

Qrow silences Yang however. He clarifies that he and Raven CHOSE to have the power given to them. Ozpin elaborates that the reason why he did this was because he both needed Intel on Salem and her faction’s plans and a way to find/watch over Maidens when the host changed. From a tactical perspective, that makes sense. He also confirms that he hasn’t done this for any others at this time, such as Glynda and Ironwood, due to his dwindling power. The power he used for this was minimal, but its still not something he would want to use repeatedly and deplete. Why is his power dwindling however? Well my friends, Ozpin FINALLY confirms what has been speculated since Volume 3. Yes, Ozpin is the wizard from the Four Seasons fairy tale. He’s the one who gave his power to the original Maidens. He doesn’t go into what happened after that, but he does confirm that he had no intentions of lying, but thee are things that he’d rather keep to himself.

With all that cleared up, Ozpin goes into choices. The Branwens chose to accept the power he offered them. Later, Raven chose to leave for her own reasons. Now, the six teens have a choice to make. If they want to leave, they can. After al, admitting that you don’t want to be a part of anything before committing is perfectly fine. The only true shame is choosing to retreat. At first, it looks like everyone is on board for seeing things through… until Yang rises. Ruby is stunned, but thankfully Yang isn’t leaving. She believes that f Ruby thinks that it’s best to stay, she’ll trust her sister’s instinct and stay as well. But she makes it very clear to Ozpin that there’s going to be some terms. Mainly, no mroe lies. No mroe half truths. If he wants them to help him, he’s going to have to start being honest. Ozpin agrees, but whether he’ll keep his word or not… is hard to say. I think there’s going to be things he doesn’t talk about, but that’s not really lying so… loophole I guess. But with everything cleared up, Ozpin tells the teens to go ahead and rest There is a lot of work ahead of them, but they’ve all been through a lot already and have just reunited, so it’s best that they take it easy while they still can. Very reflective of his words to Glynda in Volume 2.

We can’t end it there though, that would be nice. So we cut back to the Branwen tribe where Shay D. Mann (GDI CRWBY) and a few others are guarding the entrance. They are then approached… by Mercury and Emerald. Shit… Shay is annoyed after already suffering a rough week, but it gets worst. Cinder and Watts appear on the scene with Cinder giving the order to strike. We watch Emerald approach the guards, weapons drawn, as the chapter ends. Well… crap. That’s not good. Ugh… at least Mercury got speaking lines again? Haha…

Review

This, at the time of this review’s writing, is the shortest chapter in the volume. But that’s about my only complaint, and even then that’s hardly a complaint. This is technically a filler episode, but IDC I LOVED it. This is our calm before the storm, a time to let the characters rest, relax, and just be kids. Again, it’s been about two years since we got to see these characters just be happy and have fun. It felt so much like the old days where they had food fights and dances and get sick off bowls of ramen. It’s also good to see how much they have grown since those days. I remember watching the early volumes when Twitch did that marathon leading up to the Volume 5 premiere, and watching Weiss when she was… less than pleasant was SO jarring. But it helps show that the character have grown up. There’s more growth ahead, but they’ve made steps forward and it’s good to see them reflect on that.

As far as the talk goes, again I did find Yang’s reaction overdoing it a bit, but again after rewatching previous chapters, I understood it more. But now everyone is on the same page and Yang has made her stance to Ozpin clear. Will ti cause problems int he future? Probably, we’ll have to see. IDK what else I can say about it that I haven’t already said. I will say that there’s a lot of debate on Ozpin. Is he good? Is he really evil? If you want my take, I believe that Ozpin is a good guy, but not a perfect one. If I wanted to compare him to any fictional character, I’d probably compare him to Dumbledore from Harry Potter. Both are the Big Good, a figure who has lived for a long time and is THE biggest threat to the main villain. They are also both very troubled figures who made many mistakes in their lifetimes. They are also manipulative, liars, but have a fatherly demeanor. Dumbledore isn’t evil though. Yes he is very skeezy and he practically set Harry up to be a sacrificial lamb. But he did so for the greater good and, if I’m gonna be honest, he seemed confident that Harry would survive and make the right choice, as demonstrated when he talks to the boy one final time after Voldemort struck Harry down. I feel this is the same for Ozpin. All his actions are for the sake of humanity, which he has made clear that he feels is the strongest force to exist. Do I think that he’s setting Ruby up for death? IDK if I’d got hat far, but he clearly needs her for something. But again, all his actions are for the good of humanity and he’s not going to force anyone into anything. He’s left Raven alone, after all.

Moving on to Yang though… lets talk about her and Ruby for a second. I love these two so much. In my last review I went onto the parallels between Ruby and Yang’s relationship and Qrow and Raven’s. This further emphasizes how Yang is devoted to Ruby while her mother walked out on her own brother. But a part of me does wonder if this is going to cause issues later. Yang, for all intents and purposes, is in this only for Ruby. Ruby is in this to help people. Both are understandable reasons, but if Ozpin is setting Ruby up for something, it may come into conflict. Yang obviously would NOT want Ruby to risk her life while Ruby, most likely, would do it even if she didn’t want to to save others. Will it cause a conflict between the sisters? Will there be other things, like Ruby becoming more self-reliant and causing Yang to feel un-needed? Will Yang quit later and try to make Ruby do the same with the latter refusing? Only time will tell. But for now, their bond is as strong as ever, and it makes me smile.

Conclusion

I… honestly don’t have much else to say. This was very much a breather episode, but it was a good one. We got some good character interactions/reflections in both a comedic and serious sense. The Branwen Tribe is about to have problems, but hey it’s moving us forward. The episode was just relaxing and fun with some drama sprinkled in here and there. It was just nice to sit back and laugh again at these wild and crazy kids. I missed it. Not the best chapter, I’d even call it the weakest since it was basically filler with no real plot progression, but like I said it was nice to have a chance to breathe after so many dramatic episode. Loved it, and now we’re halfway through the volume! Onto the second half!
