In vain I have struggled. It will not do. The past few weeks have been a torment. I cannot complete the essay on how Pride and Prejudice combats amatonormativity through the emphasis on familial and sisterly relationships, and also contains extensive evidence for my aroace Mary headcanon and how Jane Austen inadvertently created one of the first queer characters in British media by 11:59 tonight. I have fought against the threat of failure in the class, my worse judgements, and the great admiration of my beloved feminist literature teacher. I am now in need to ask her to put aside all that and end my agony.
I hate this. Most ardently. Please do me the honor of allowing me to make it into a Tumblr post.

wolfstar will always be that old couple that thinks all 70's pop culture is superior to anything new. they get so judged by hari who's decked out in a blur tshirt and baggy jeans and chunky cardigans and wears tracksuits when he's not exercising and has a growing cd collection. remus, to him, is so old and uncool other than his smoking habit and cardigans, and although sirius will always be the pinnacle of cool to him, he can't believe his godfather still wears flares and solely uses records and thinks some band called 't.rex' are better than nirvana.
#(ik canon harry doesn't care about being cool/pop culture but this is non-war au where lily and james never dies and he has a normal life)#dorcas and marlene are the actually cool and trendy ones. they stay very much up to date and dress accordingly#(only thing is that they're both very much oasis fans over blur. but at least they know the bands unlike wolfstar)#marauders era#marauders#wolfstar#sirius black#remus lupin#hari potter

It really rubs me the wrong way how Caeneus is killed in this show, in mythology he was a powerful warrior and a king with invulnerable skin and he was killed in a war against the centaurs who buried him alive bc they couldn’t stab him with swords and spears, a hell of a way to go but still a badass to the bitter end, and bro had a bit of an ego and worshiped his spear.
He even killed a centaur who misgendered him.
In the show he is an exiled Amazon who is outed by his mother and the amazons misgender him before killing him. I’m not trans but I can tell this is iffy af.
#for a supposedly diverse show they really failed in showing that diversity in a respectful manner#also the Amazons weren’t misandrists at least not like what is usually shown in pop culture#greek mythology#ancient greek mythology#greek pantheon#Kaos#kaos netflix#Netflix#Netflix Kaos#Caeneus#amazons#centaur#centaurs#Centauromachy

headcanon that hazel had the most parasocial beef imaginable with shirley temple. 8 year old hazel was writing hate mail to the local paper with her crayons calling the also 8 year old shirley a sellout and an industry plant. in 2010 hazel's watching nick at nite on the fifth cohort rec room tv and sees the 2 minute long shirley temple box set commercial and loses her fucking mind.
#hazel: shut UP about animal crackers in your soup!!!!#hazel's constantly pitting her against judy garland on 1930s stan twitter (the playground) “THIS is what actual talent sounds like btw!”#even though judy garland is at least 6 years older#i love great depression pop culture trivia bc you can see how a lot of lasting media trends got started#but this specific hc is because i hated hannah montana in first grade then in high school my friends wanted to watch#and i was like “i was probably just being a not like other girls hater as a kid i bet the show is really cute and funny in hindsight"#it wasn’t and i still hated it. it was very vindicating#hazel levesque

GRAAAHHH SORRY THIS IS SUDDEN BUT OH MY GOD I FINALLY FOUND YOU. IM THE BENREY THAT RAN UP TO YOUR BOOTH AR AMW THIS YEAR AND MY FRIEND BOUGHT ME LIKE ALMOST ALL YOUR VALVE STUFF, I LITERALLY CRIED WHEN I GOT BACK TO THEIR ROOM CAUSE LIKE DUDE. THAT MEANT EVERYTHING FOR ME, I WAS GENUINELY SO SO SO HAPPY TO SEE THE FANDOM IS STILL ALIVE AND IVE BEEN LOOKING FOR FANS IN THE WILD FOR YEARS. THE EXPERIENCE WAS ENLIGHTENING TO SAY THE LEAST AND IM SO SO JOYOUS ABOUT IT. THANK YOU SO MUCH !1!11! :•3
:D !!!! HI!!! I REMEMBER YOU!!! THANK YOU FOR STOPPING BY, I'M SO HAPPY IT WAS MEMORABLE FOR YOU!!
people who are so enthusiastic about the things i make and the fandoms i rep at my booth are THE #1 coolest part of the experience 🥺 i feel like convention artist alleys these days are mostly filled with the same 4 popular anime/mobile games and it's really hard to find less popular anime, let alone things like video games and webseries. you would not believe how many comments I got that people never see things like Team Fortress 2 or Portal in AAs, let alone stuff like Infinity Train or HLVRAI 😭 the people who recognize them are always SO excited and then I'M excited and we are BOTH excited and nerding out together. it's fantastic!!!
the hlvrai fandom is definitely still going strong! i still see a lot of fanart and community posts and my sales on my few hlvrai things on my etsy have Not slowed down lmao. i'm sure if covid didn't happen there would have been so many benry cosplayers in 2020. we were ROBBED </3 i've seen You and one benry cosplayer at ACEN last year and that was IT </3 </3 </3
#ask#agoraphobiclemons#at anime central i had an admin for one of the radiotvsolutions folks stop by my booth. they were also very excited#to see my art prints i had of the science team!! they were also very nice :3 and a neopets fan. big W#hlvrai is one of those fandoms where you might not meet them super often but when you do they're the coolest people#anyway hearing from people who saw me at cons is so so so fun#im booked for the same con next year already and fingers crossed i can get into acen again#anyway. fellow artists. bring some merch for things that aren't the biggest thing in the world#if everyone's selling genshit midpact you have to split the attention of every attendee who plays it#if you're the only booth selling something thats only moderately popular though. you'll get all that attention to yourself#and everyone that recognizes it will be really really excited about it. and then its not a Transaction its an Interaction and its FUN#i am saying this as somebody who never watches popular anime or plays gacha games pleeeeeeease diversify your catalogues dhjbdsfbhj#i started attending cons in 2016 and the 2016 ~ 2019 cons were completely different from cons in 2022 ~ 2024#and 'oh well they're Anime Cons ofc they have an emphasis on anime' isnt even an excuse because before 2020 it wasnt like that#esp here in chicago where we have like. three pop culture cons total. and they all have Anime in the name. doesnt stop anybody#or at least it didnt used to#anyway i am mentally pinning this ask in my brain corkboard and i will look at it forever <3 fandom is beautiful#THANK YOU FOR THE MESSAGE !!!! <3

"The Force is With(in) Me" Spell
This is an extremely simple spell, requiring very little. It is meant as a reminder and a very quick check-in with your heart.
Materials:
Paper(small, pocket size!)
Pen(in your favorite color, bonus points if the color matches your dream lightsaber)
A symbol representing you.
Steps:
First, you need to clear your mind. It doesn't have to be a lot, just allow your focus to fall inwards. I recommend focusing on your breathing.
Draw the symbol representing you onto the center of your pocket sized notebook paper. Think something you can slide into your wallet.
Focus on sensing your own heart. What do you feel is the right thing to do? What distracts or stops you from following that baseline? Think of these things, and then let those roadblocks go. Pass them to the force after you have examined why you feel this way. Write around your symbol "The Force is a guide. It is a connection from me to the world, and the world to me. If the Force is in everything, the Force is within me. I can trust my heart to the Force, and that the Force will guide my heart. I trust my heart. I trust the Force."
Once you have written these things, fold it up. Draw a symbol that represents the force, and slide it to a pocket or place in your wallet where you can pull it out and remind yourself.
Trust is hard. Trusting yourself is harder. Allow the Force to help you find trust easy again.
#pop culture paganism#star wars paganism#jedi magic#The Force is Within Me#The tag for my star wars spells in my personal grimoire is “the Force is Within Me”#The spell is inspired from this.#Sigil work#at least kinda#While I am personally jedi oriented#any force practitioner can use this spell!

Does Bruce care about Jason Todd at all?
Depends on who's writing, if you only take into account good batman writers then the answers a resounding yes, he may not be great at showing it at times but Bruce has stated multiple times that he cares and loves all his kids including Jason
#ask#starknightkirby#like as recently as the last batman arc in the main batman comic#when bruce is trying to find strength to fight failsafe he thinks about his sons and name's jason#he cares about jason#and im really not in the business of falling into the trap shitty batman writers do#bc they dont like the fact that Bruce has kids#im sick of it#im sick of the bruce cares about joker more then jason rhetoric#its something jason can believe but its shouldnt be taken as the truth#and i cant change who dc gets to write their comics#but i can choose to ignore it#for my own sanitary#batmans an important character not only in dc but in pop culture as a whole#he should be allowed to be a good dad#overall at least#maybe not perfect#but like#not hitting his kids#or only recognising his bio son as his only son#this turned into me ranting about dad bruce oppps#sorry#fuck it im allowed to be passionate about good dad Bruce good dads are important to me#and its not like dc is suffering for bad dad rep#okay ill stop now

people really do not know what they're talking about when it comes to Elizabeth Woodville's social status, huh?
#yes Elizabeth was without a doubt considered too low-born to be queen#no she was not a commoner and nobody actually called her that during her life (so I'm not sure why people are claiming that they did?)#Elizabeth's social status was not a problem in itself; it was a problem in the context of queenship and marrying into royalty#Context is important in this and for literally everything else when it comes to analyzing history. Any discussion is worthless without it.#obviously pop culture-esque articles claiming that she was 'a commoner who captured the king's heart' are wrong; she wasn't#But emphasizing that ACTUALLY she was part of the gentry with a well-born mother and just leaving it at that as some sort of “GOTCHA!”#is equally if not more irresponsible and entirely irrelevant to discussions of the actual time period we're studying.#Elizabeth *was* considered unworthy and unacceptable as queen precisely because of her lower social status#her father and brother had literally been derided as social-climbers by Salisbury Warwick and Edward himself just a few years earlier#the Woodvilles' marriage prospects clearly reflected their status (and 'place') in society: EW herself had first married a knight and all#siblings married within the gentry to people of a similar status. compare that to the prestigious marriages arranged after EW became queen#Elizabeth having a lower social status was not 'created' by propaganda against her; it fueled and shaped propaganda against her#that's a huge huge difference; it's irresponsible and silly to conflate the two as I've seen a recent tumblr post cavalierly do#like I said she was considered too low-born to be queen long before any of the propaganda Warwick Clarence or Richard put out against her#and the fact that Elizabeth was targeted on the basis of her social status was in itself novel and unprecedented#no queen before her was ever targeted in such a manner; Clearly Elizabeth was considered notably 'different' in that regard#(and was quite literally framed as the enemy and destroyer of 'the old royal blood of this realm' and all its actual 'inheritors' like..)#ngl this sort of discussion always leaves a bad taste in my mouth#because it's not like England and France (et all) are at war or consider each other mortal enemies in the 21st century#both are in fact western european imperialistic nations who've been nothing but a blight to the rest of the world including my own country#yet academic historians clearly have no problem contextualizing the xenophobia that medieval foreign queens faced as products of their time#and sympathizing with them accordingly (Eleanor of Provence; Joan of Navarre; Margaret of Anjou; etc)(at least by their own historians)#Nor were foreign queens the “worst” targets of xenophobia: that was their attendants or in times of war commoners or soldiers#who actually had to bear the brunt of English aggression#queens were ultimately protected and guaranteed at least a veneer of dignity and respect because of their royal status#yet once again historians and people have no problem contextualizing and understanding their difficulties regardless of all this#so what is the problem with contextualizing the classism *Elizabeth* faced and understanding *her* difficulties?#why is the prejudice against her constantly diminished & downplayed? (Ive never even seen any historian directly refer to it as 'classism')#after all it was *Elizabeth* who was more vulnerable than any queen before her due to her lack of powerful foreign or national support#and Elizabeth who faced a form of propaganda distinctly unprecedented for queens. it SHOULD be emphasized more.

Did you ever post the "baby sheep meeting Boss Ram for the first time" story (post 682432632204804096 on your blog) anywhere on its own? Asking because I really wanted to recycle it again but OP made the post unrebloggable.
If it's the one I'm thinking of, I can type it up again, with bonus epilogue this time, even!
It all starts with my big breeding ram. Undisputed king of the hill, boss ram, never lost a fight. Real tough guy. The initiation ritual for any male sharing a field with this guy was getting beat up by The Boss.
In the year our story begins, this fine gentleman had sired four sons in his own image. Without my permission he broke through the fence and did this, as the fence was unfairly preventing him from fulfilling his one job upon this earth: creating many miniature copies of himself.
These fine fellows he gifted me with had to be weaned a few weeks early, when they were perfectly old enough not to need milk but young enough they still WANTED milk. (They were fine, they were 9 weeks old and lambs can be safely weaned as young as 6, though I usually try to wait until 12 for behavioral reasons. This is called foreshadowing.) One reason for this early weaning was an interesting bit of trivia about sheep lactation: milk letdown in the ewe's udder is stimulated by the lamb punching the udder really hard with the end of their noses. Really hard. Repeatedly. Usually ewes will start to wean the lambs on their own when the lambs get big enough that the punching gets uncomfortable, but some ewes won't and ram lambs in particular sometimes have to be pulled early because when they get big and strong enough they will punch the udder so hard they'll lift their mother's back end right off the ground and can damage her udder in their enthusiasm for milk that isn't quite as filling to them as it was a few weeks ago.
These boys didn't want to be weaned. There was a lot of screaming. They were scared, with no adult sheep around. Even more screaming. So I decided to give them a babysitter.
I didn't want to dump the little guys right in the boy's club to get ganged up on, so I decided to put them in a smaller pen near the barn with their dad for a few days. He'd always been good with lambs and I figured he'd gently but firmly show them who was boss and then they wouldn't have trouble. He made all these lambs without permission, the least he could do was some babysitting.
He also thought he would gently but firmly show them who was boss. He marched up and started flexing his shoulders and arching his neck, showing off how big his horns were, ready to butt heads with any of these little punks who cared to try him.
However.
These were not his usual rivals. They did not care about butting heads. These were four unweaned lambs, who for their entire nine weeks of life had punched the dangly thing on mom's belly whenever they were hungry and gotten food.
They were hungry.
Their moms were gone.
They had never shared a pasture with an adult ram.
They looked at the Big Guy and saw a big dangly thing in the same general area as the punch-for-food thing on their moms.
They quickly put two and two together and made an understandable but deeply mistaken assumption.
The poor guy ended up fleeing for his life in a state of completely bewildered panic while his four equally bewildered and panicky little clones chased him all over the field, screaming at the top of their baby lungs and trying frantically to punch him in the nuts as hard as they could.
Not included in the original version of the story was that this did somehow end up being a bonding experience because once the... misunderstanding... was resolved, he was very fond of that particular group of sons and frequently kept an eye on them even once they were integrated with the rest of the boys. I called them his ducklings for how they would follow him around single file.
Boss Ram figured out how to mount ewes THROUGH the fence and sired another group of unauthorized offspring two years later. He was a recognized fixture on the farm by then with an amazingly good personality for a ram, so I had the dangly bits causing all these problems removed and now he is living out his old age in perfectly happy retirement with all his girlfriends in the ewe flock, convinced he is still doing what he was put on this earth to do, but not actually creating any more mini-mes and thus unharrassed by any lambs who missed basic sex ed.
(Those four sons are now all grown up and collectively terrorizing everyone over in the boy's field in their father's place, but thankfully in the more traditional, foreheads-at-ten-paces sort of way)
#happy ending#no idea if or how I should tag this for animals nonsexually punching other animals in the nuts#sheep are way more interesting than pop culture gives them credit for. or mine are at least.

Do you think Siffrin would be good at the board game ”In other words”? bc he always has to describe another word each time they forget it in vaugardian
I'm finding a couple different games with the same name on google, but this one is popping up the most:
In this game, players move around the board and solve puzzles in one of six categories: Movies and Television, Terms, Quotes & Sayings, Literature, Cliches & Expressions, or Music. The puzzles are in the form of phrases that have to be translated into the actual saying on the card. For example, the movie "Away With the Breeze" is "Gone With the Wind", and the book "The Victor's Ring" is "The Winner's Circle".
Which I think would... vary wildly. Like sometimes they'd be totally clueless even though they should know it, it's just on the tip of their tongue but also totally out of reach. But sometimes they're just like oh yeah of course I know this obscure Poterian orchestral piece, there's not really any other direction you could go with that clue..?
I do think this game wouldn't be as bad for them as other trivia games, because there's an actual strategy you can use to jog your mind instead of just sitting there clueless: start running through synonym combinations! And I do see what you mean about Siffrin having experience doing that, lol. But that doesn't necessarily mean they'll be able to come up with the right synonym...
Idk if it's supposed to be played with teams but I'm sure the crew would anyway, so I think Siffrin would do well paired with someone who knows lots of words, so they can list synonyms until Siffrin's like OH that one!!
I would put Mirabelle vs Isabeau on opposite teams since they'd both have a normal amount of knowledge of Vaugardian pop culture, and big vocabularies from reading. And then Siffrin vs Odile because they're less familiar with Vaugardien, and Odile's better at some categories and Siffrin at others. And then kids generally aren't very good at these games because they don't have as big a knowledge base, so one team just gets a bonus Bonnie, maybe Siffrin's to help make up for their memory issues. Or, if Isabeau's substantially better at general pop culture than Mirabelle (bc he's put work into being A Sociable Guy vs Mira being shy and focused on classes), then maybe Isabeau vs Mirabelle+Siffrin vs Odile+Bonnie...?i
#sorry if this is the wrong game lmao#there was another one that was less pop culture and more just words#but the description i found wasn't as detailed...#so i can't tell if the game gives you the clues#or if the game just gives you the target word and one member of a team comes up with clues for the other team member#if the latter i do think sif would do well giving clues#since it's listing synonyms but any effective synonym will do#but guessing seems a little harder#since again you have to happen to land on The correct word#but at least you don't have to also know pop culture#i can't tell if the 'this word is a syllable of a longer word' kind of lateral thinking#would be super hard in a secondary language or actually a little easier...#isat

Aro culture is wondering if you’re actually aromantic or if it’s just your seveeere intimacy issues.. I literally get awkward over a hug, how could I possibly let someone close to me?
.
#Anonymous#aro culture is#aro#aromantic#actually aro#actually aromantic#ask#mod alexander#idk if it helps but my two cents:#there's a major difference between choosing to not date because you don't want to let people close to you#and not experiencing the attraction to specific individuals#like it's a whole ass major trope in pop culture about people who don't feel 'worthy' or who have general intimacy issues#still *having* attraction but not letting themselves act on it#the question i'd encourage asking is... is there anyone you've ever specifically *wanted* to date in some fantasy form#but decided you couldn't / rejected the thought because you assume that you or that person would be unhappy in a romo relationship?#like ppl who choose not to date are welcome imo to participate in the aro community if they so choose but i think it can help#in this instance at least - to recall that the community started around the concept of not experiencing *attraction*

“bad people are bad writers and you can tell from their work”
This reminds me of how Till Lindemann is still getting away despite everything. Judging by his work? Poetry especially? He's about the worst hell has to offer. But no you couldn't tell, because it's art, and because Rammstein is one of the very few bands in their genre that explicitely takes a stand against fascists, and thus everyone wants to believe in them and by extension Lindemann. Got them an infiinite advance payment in trust. And then it turns out yes he likely did all those things he wrote about. But no one cares because "RS are the good ones". Like Gaiman is.
#at least with NG people here care. not so much about people outside of english pop culture. hello jeremy fragrance btw#i fucking hate how TL's case was swept under the rug after two weeks because the girls withdrew their accusations.#despite the row 0 machinery being fact#oh btw did you know everyone's been lauding him today for presenting his new gf who is 41 years younger (21) and hasn't even moved out#pissed me off quite a bit
